I had to uninstall my modded Spotify to install the official one for five minutes just so I could look at my Wrapped. I am a diehard observer of the holiday and I always will be~
I listened to David Bowie's entire discography on a whim in like September, and considering he has like 398478275 songs, my Wrapped stats got skewed in the best way. You're right, Spotify. I am a top 0.5% Bowie fan (✿◡‿◡)
(Distracted is a song from the soundtrack to The Woman, by a guy named Sean Spillane. The whole soundtrack is a specific kind of lonely-road indie vibe that I can't really explain but if you listen to it you'll see what I mean.
Synergy - Remix is by Violet Cold and it's fine and all but I had no idea I listened to it enough for it to be second on Wrapped. I think it might be on the car playlist as well, though, which would explain it. Sacrifice by Lacrimosa, fuck yes; Drowning Dog by High on Fire, fuck yes x2; I actually just removed Jinjer's I Speak Astronomy from my Likes because I was tired of hearing it, so actually the reason that's on my Wrapped at all is because Spotify kept pushing it on me to the point of not liking it anymore, lol.)
#wrapped 2024#my top artists actually make sense this year. no notes. good job#anyway back to not using the official app ✌🏿

VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED
the third album
Viewer Discretion Advised, or 03, is the third studio album released by Superbia Entertainment’s duo, X2. It was released on July 5th, 2016, several months after their second album release. There was no real title track on the album, and three music videos were released: one for Like it, Love it, one for Sweet&Sour, and one for Nylon.
Basically, X2 released an album full of sensual, sexy r&b vibes, giving their fans more content than they ever could have asked for. The boys told fans that production takes time, and because they’re almost entirely self managed, having consistent comeback schedules can be difficult, but they worked as hard as they could to churn the album out in a timely manner. They thanked their listeners extensively for their patience.

ERA NOTES
The hair colors were NICE this era
RJ sported a lovely dark red hue
Junsiks hair was dyed silver.
The styling continued with the trend of formal wear, though never quite perfectly poised.
The music videos were all surreal once again, as a callback to their aesthetic roots. They were somewhat reminiscent of drug trips, saved from being too cliche by interesting text effects (lyrics, bar receipts, etc.) and imagery where colors blended and dripped.
Once again, they didn’t give a fuck about how explicit some of their imagery was. To make fun of the censorship of media in Korea, they censored random objects like lipstick tubes and cars, but left imagery including far more suggestive themes untouched.
Despite the varied concept this era, the uniting factors were the colors red and imagery involving cherries. Yes, countless jokes involving “popping one’s cherry” ran rampant amongst the fanbase.
RJ commented on working with labelmate Hyunae ( @hihijinx) and admitted that she scared him the entire time...he also said that he was scared of Impulse’s Nye. Junsik, meanwhile, bluntly stated that he found neither of them intimidating, and that RJ is just afraid of everyone.
Promotions began as they always did for these fools. RJ couldn’t help but spoil a bit on his Instagram feed by posting very suggestive images of himself...AKA shirtless photos and mirror selfies where everything that needed to be covered was just barely concealed. His captions teased at the album title, with lines such as “a little too NSFW for you?”.
After that, both he and Junsik began posting photo-spreads split up into individual posts that formed images of women’s lips, mysterious captions declaring “Coming Soon.” It didn’t take long for the X2 official accounts to begin teasing as well, until concept photos were released
.There were three sets of concept photos. The first was categorized by hazy, smoky rooms lit by sensual pink and purple lighting. Junsik and RJ were photographed sprawled in limos with their trademark lackadaisical affects. RJ wore an unbuttoned suit jacket with nothing beneath, and Junsik’s own formal wear was significantly disheveled, tie undone and hair mussed. They looked as if they had been through a hell of a night, the floor of the limo littered with empty alcohol bottles, women’s underwear, and glittery high heels.
The second set of photos had them at a house party. RJ was posed leaning against a wall by a poolside, keeping up the neon theme, with the addition of cyan from the swimming pool’s luminance. He remained shirtless, lipstick prints scattered across his neck and collarbones, and an over-exposed effect gave the image a candid feel. J
unsik’s photos were similar, though he was seated on a poolside lounge chair, eyes closed as he leaned back, a soju bottle dangling limply from his hand.
The third set was by far the most interesting. Scantily clad women wearing odd animal head masks were included in the photos, including reaching behind a seated RJ to claw at his bare chest, and lying down with their heads in Junsik’s lap as he relaxed on a bed. In these, they were even less properly styled, hair wavy and mussed, and clothing disheveled beyond belief.
They claimed that the photos told a story, and the seemingly random choice of the animal masks on the women reflected the trippy but sensual feeling of the album, balancing between the viscerally unsettling nature of trance-like sound and the undeniably sexual undertones nearly every song held.
RJ was literally such a dork around all of the women in their video. There were clips of him apologizing and bowing to each girl after shooting scenes where he had to be touching them, or if they were on his lap. Junsik made fun of him for it, but fans found his affect endearing.
Honestly...it’s pretty easy to guess how fans reacted. They were, understandably, completely feral.

What tamino songs would u rec and also what are ur sea power faves? (I've been listening to open season lately and it's such a solid album) (also i have to ask u this because like. Ur the one person online and irl that i know listens to them I hope this isn't weird😂)
oh BOY i also haven't found anyone irl who listens to both tamino and sea power (rip) so you're good!!
for tamino's first album, amir (deluxe), i adore every pore, verses, habibi, indigo night, cigar and crocodile
in his newest album sahar, you don't own me, fascination, sunflower, cinnamon, only our love, and my dearest friend and enemy (the last one really messed me up big time)
sadly for sea power i haven't gone through their whole discography yet (rip x2) 💔 but so far i loveeee electrical kittens (obviously) and praise for whatever. their album everything was forever was truly well done and i especially love folly. there's also machineries of joy and what you need the most, but can i just say that whole album is a comfort piece of music to me like come on the album title speaks for itself. i haven't listened to the rest of their albums yet but now that you mentioned open season i'll check it out <33
#also need to mention if you haven't listened to tamino at all i should let u know his music is rlly different from sea power's#and im not 100% sure if he would appeal to you genre wise#but if i enjoy sea power and you do too then there's a chance you'll also like tamino and what a genius he is#sorry for the late ans!! i was busy trying to single out my options w/o mentioning the whole album tracks lmao#thank u for this ask fren <33#b1uetrees#music tag

You might have already seen it, but Nathan responded on twitter to a question about the remaining episodes. According to him, the plan is to do “individual eps for Harry x3, Niall x2, and one that captures the other guys in depth.” It’s a shame that they are not going to dedicate more time to the albums of Zayn, Louis and Liam.
I am really disappointed about that. I do see the problem for all three of them. Zayn has a massive discography, but there's very little cultural material beyond the music - and since the podcast is really about bringing together both that's a problem. I definitely think Pillowtalk could be a whole podcast, but the question of how to approach Icarus Falls and Nobody's Listening would be tricky.
I don't think it's particularly useful to talk about LP1 as like a summary of Liam's career, and Nora really likes Liam and that's a really good reason not to.
And there's a lot going on for all three of them that makes navigating boundaries about what to say and what not to say really tricky.
I'm looking forward to hearing about Heartbreak Weather though - I was somewhat preoccupied when that came out and never caught up.
#I am particularly sad about Walls not getting its due#because it was the least critically engaged with of any 1D members first albums#and I was really looking forward to a whole episode#But I think I would only be looking forward to it#if they wanted to do it#and there are many reasons why they may not#So I will try and accept

The parallels are not particularly interesting at all imo, objectively speaking right now DA is in more dire straits career-wise and pop-culture relevancy wise than JA is and it has been common enough the last few years for her to use her previous connection to Taylor to suborn herself some attention when her pop culture relevancy hits particularly low points and Taylor literally grouped DA into the group of "petty things" she wishes she could tell her past self not to get lost in that is comprised of SB x2 and Kimye in the evermore track 12 song long story story, so with that context DA's antics read as one-third tribute to Joan and two-thirds empty attention-seeking from Anti-Karlie Gaylors, which always works out well enough for her.
It's practically 113% guaranteed that DA's IG antics are as deep as a puddle as she is somebody that Taylor herself grouped with Sco0ter, Sc0t B and Kimye in a song on her most recent non-rerecorded album in her discography, I truly doubt she knows anything and is just fishing for the attention she knows plenty Gaylors are willing to give her, which I suppose is perfectly in DA's rights to do since Taylor only ever indirectly insinuates she finds DA distasteful on similar levels to SB x2 and Kimye.

★ XO
the second album
XO is the second studio album released by Superbia Entertainment’s R&B duo, X2. It was released on January 14, 2016, and featured the title track heaven. The album received a moderate amount of controversy for its explicit lyrics and content, though ultimately, X2 just didn’t care. After wonderful success with their first album, their comeback was timely and once again entirely self-managed; it was anticipated and well-received.
(playlist link)
TRACKLIST
heaven (title) - insp. elo and penomeco’s oh i
heaven features a spacious instrumental complemented with strings, powerful vocals, subtle but driving percussion, and a gradual build-up into an airy and equally as strong chorus. Layered vocals from both of the members lend to an atmospheric sound to the song, and despite the song being mostly vocal-driven, Junsik’s rap portions provide a refreshing respite from the flowing nature of RJ’s vocals. The song is a seamless blend of their individual vocal flavors, and showcases their harmonic abilities in particular.
hit me up - insp. sik-k and gaeko’s ring ring
shinin’ - punchnello and crush’s corona
expensive - simon dominic and jay park’s won and only
don’t be shy - crush and sik-k’s don’t be shy
Sheer filth. The song is upbeat and light-hearted, despite the very explicit nature of the lyrics. This song, while very popular, was regarded with particular distaste from listeners as people realized that RJ was only barely legal by Korean age when he wrote it. The lyrics featured lines such as “Tell me what you what you wanna do/I’ll take it off slowly/I can undo it with one hand/The tight clasp on your back/Till you ask for more/I won’t stop/Twice, three times, from the top, from the bottom/I wanna live inside” from RJ, clearly referencing not only undressing a girl, but much more than that. From Junsik, lines were more palatable, even if he had lyrics like “I wanna hear your moans/Let’s wash up/But keep the bathroom door open/Don’t be shy/girl I told ya/Let’s say the shower made you wet/and I slide/Between your thick thighs.” So, yeah, the song was obviously explicit as hell. When brought up in interviews, the two sort of brushed off the controversy, stating that music was about expression, and it was unrealistic to expect every single young artist to pretend to be naive to save face, especially when they aren’t idols. They hung out with a few YouTubers, one of which joked around with the two and had RJ show off his unhooking a bra with one hand skills (as many as he could with a time limit and on a mannequin), but he was laughing too much to do it more than three times and his hands were shaking because he was nervous.
don’t u know? - woo, loco, and gray’s we are
a moment of silence - loco and crush’s still
ERA NOTES
Just as they had done with their first album, all of the posts on the x2 instagram were archived. in their place were nine photos with white backgrounds and black graphics that formed the lewis dot structure of dopamine, as well as 011416 beneath.
RJ and Junsik both went mostly quiet on their personals, as well, though RJ’s last instagram post had the caption “baby, you’re like a breath of fresh air” and a photo of clouds taken from an airplane seat.
Junsik was obviously more comfortable behind a camera this time around, though clearly not at RJ’s level. Once again, teaser videos were released, one for each member.
Junsik’s featured him walking and looking seemingly bored on what looked like a mirrored sheet of glass, in a computer-generated sky of shifting colors, ranging from pink to dusty blue. His hair color was hidden beneath a baseball cap. He wore a loose white dress shirt, asymmetrically tucked in and with the sleeves rolled up on his forearms, black pants, and minimal jewelry.
RJ was filmed underwater, sitting cross-legged in dark water. he had one elbow on his knee, face resting in his palm as if he were finding something incredibly tedious, and glanced repeatedly at the rolex on his wrist to see when it would be over. He was styled similarly, though his jeans were heavily ripped and shirt half-falling off his shoulders to flow in the water around him, wearing nothing underneath. His hair color was hard to make out, but dark.
Overall, there was a dual color scheme for the music video. RJ was featured with mostly darker blues and greys, and primarily underwater. Junsik’s color vibe was silvery, pink, and dustier pastels. Along with that, RJ’s theme was underwater, while Junsik was framed with clouds, the sky, and more traditional “heaven” imagery. This dichotomy was used to represent the dual sides of love, or “x” vs “o”: when you’re so deep ‘underwater’ in love that you can’t breathe, and the flip side, where you’re on cloud 9 and all too blissfuly unaware of the lack of oxygen and danger in climbing higher and higher.
The music video for heaven followed the same trend as the teasers and focused on the duality between the sky and water, and the need for oxygen in both. There were a lot of shots with CG that looked like paint on glass, whether in the sky or in a spacious apartment that was apparently entirely underwater, creative transitions, and a color scheme that shifted between the members’ individual aesthetics for the concept. The styling remained simple, as per their brand, though Junsik surprised fans at one point by having a scene in which he was sitting on the edge of the same mirrored platform as his teaser, shirt entirely unbuttoned, and singing/rapping almost lazily. His hair color was revealed to be silvery-grey in the video, and RJ’s navy blue with streaks of lighter color for dimension. In the scenes where the two are together in the CG sky with a time-lapse showcasing rapidly shifting clouds and colors of the sky with paint on glass effects, they’re back to back and feeding off of one another’s energy. They were praised for the sincerity of their expressions, and of course, the sex appeal in their unbuttoned shirts and lazy affects.

Lol yes specific recs are good idk where to start
You either came to the wrong or right person. This is a lot. HONESTLY, one of the cool things about Skinny Puppy is literally all of their albums are very very different and they have a huge range of styles and a million ways you can get into them from all sorts of directions. They have a very long history and extensive discography and endless connections and collaborations and associations so you can come at them from a million angles.
Here’s a list of the main albums chronologically. The band’s lineup has changed a little due to band members leaving or dying but Ogre and cEvin have always been members. For more specific recommendations I’m also including their arguably most popular song from each album (veteran fans might wanna dispute me on some of ‘em cuz I think there are a few toss ups but I tried my best to pick the most iconic) if you just want that basic of an overview, although I definitely recommend delving deeper.
Remission (1984) - Their very first album on a label. Sounds like synthpop with baby Ogre vocals (Ogre doesn’t learn to sing until the 90s and just sings in a way where he screams and tears his vocal chords up). Kind of simpler music, sounds a lot like Cabaret Voltaire. Not as uniquely experimental yet maybe. Really dancey and fun a lot of the time. Ogre, cEvin, and Bill Leeb as musicians. Song suggestion: Smothered Hope
Bites (1985) - Their first full length album. Kinda an evolved version of Remission’s goth synth electronic stuff but still definitely experimental and cool new sounds being thrown around. Ogre, cEvin, and Bill Leeb as musicians again. Tom Ellard from Severed Heads and Edward Ka-Spel from Legendary Pink Dots (who forms The Tear Garden with cEvin) contribute. Song suggestion: Assimilate
Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse (1986) - Their first full length album after the lineup changes and Dwayne Goettel replaces Bill Leeb, who goes off to form Front Line Assembly. Dwayne adds another layer of complex experimental sound and noise to the band. More experimental and abrasive in sound. A little less dancey maybe. Song suggestion: Dig It
Cleanse Fold and Manipulate (1987) - Their second album with the Ogre/cEvin/Duck lineup. Evolution of the M:TPI sound. I definitely group these two together in my mind, they overlap a lot with the directions of the experimental electronic noises they’re going in. Song suggestion: Deep Down Trauma Hounds
VIVIsectVI (1988) - Slight change in direction, this album sounds much more chaotic, abrasive, and experimental imo. Darker album for sure with more ambient tracks and harsher sounds. Same lineup as before. Heavy focus on any vivisection, war, and other social inequality. Song suggestion: Testure
Rabies (1989) - Industrial metal. Al Jourgensen from Ministry joined the lineup because Ogre wanted to male bond with him. It has a ton of electric guitar and screaming. Way angrier and more aggressive music. Song suggestion: Warlock
Too Dark Park (1990) - Really intense, noise-heavy, complex experimental stuff. Al Jourgensen is gone and we revert back to something along the VIVIsectVI trajectory but way more intense with a ton of layers to the sound. Lots of themes of environmental degradation. Ogre/cEv/Dwayne lineup. Song suggestion: Spasmolytic
Last Rights (1992) - Too Dark Park x2. Even more experimental and abrasive and harsh; really dark content, really sad, lots of personal themes surrounding Ogre’s battle with drug addiction. Song suggestion: Killing Game
The Process (1996) - 90s industrial rock-y. Simpler in sound than the complex noise layers in TDP/LR era, with less chaotic experimental sound and more rock noise like guitars. Ogre is doing some early singing and more untreated vocals. This is the last album with Ogre/cEv/Dwayne as the lineup, and Dwayne passes before the album is even released. Song suggestion: Death
Greater Wrong of the Right (2004) - First album with the new (current) lineup where Dwayne Goettel is replaced by Mark Walk. Ogre has learned to sing in a way that doesn’t damage his voice; the music is more electronic and dancey than before, has obvious overlap in sound from the band ohGr that formed between The Process and GWOTR, less heavy noise and more focus on slightly cleaner electronic sound. Song suggestion: Pro-Test
Mythmaker (2007) - Same lineup as before; very fast paced album, with a lot of vocal distortion and treatment to Ogre’s new singing vocals. Very electronic, very dancey. Song suggestion: politikiL
HanDover (2011) - A little more noise based, with interesting recurring sounds and some more experimental noises. Very melodic electronic music. This album always feels very dreamlike to me. Song suggestion: Cullorblind
Weapon (2013) - Some people consider this sort of a throwback album, the music is a little more abrasive and “messy” than the last few albums while still retaining a lot of the more recent cleaner electronic sounds and staples from the previous few albums. They actually cover a song off of Bites and give it a new revamped version. Song suggestion: illisiT
I don’t think I could ever order these from most to least favorite or anything, but I will say that Greater Wrong of the Right tends to stand out as my top favorite... I really truly absolutely love it all though.
Aside from these albums, there’s three live albums (Ain’t It Dead Yet? in ‘87, Doomsday in 2000, andBootlegged, Broke, and In Solvent Seas from 2010), there’s Back & Forth which was their original debut demo EP from 1984, and there’s the subsequent Back & Forth series which includes lots of demos and outtakes and stuff. There’s also Puppy Gristle, which was a collaboration Skinny Puppy did with Genesis P-Orridge of Throbbing Gristle, and it’s just a really long experimental jam session. There’s also Remix Dystemper which is a remix album from 1998. These are all also really good, but I would probably recommend their main albums first :]
As you can see, the industrial community is super close knit and every band has a ton of overlap and if you just start with one band it’s really easy to get swept up in all the others!!
Cabaret Voltaire is a great band to check out if you wanna hear one of Skinny Puppy’s big inspirations.
Throbbing Gristle is an inevitable inspiration since they straight up invented industrial music and they ended up collaborating like I just mentioned too
Severed Heads is also great to hear their inspiration and the music from one of their collaborators
Legendary Pink Dots as well, and you can listen to Tear Garden to hear Ka-Spel’s collaborations with cEvin Key.
cEvin also has solo music, as well as music with Hilt, PlatEAU, and Download. Phil Western collaborated with him in these a lot, and Dwayne Geottel, before both of their deaths.
Dwayne also has a few solo songs released as aDuck.
Ogre is the frontman of ohGr alongside Mark Walk, which has five albums out since 2001 and is fucking fantastic. They just released a new album last year in June and it’s so good.
He also collaborated with Al Jourgensen from Ministry and helped write some of their music for the album Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste, and he does the vocals on “Get Down” from the Revolting Cocks and “Show Me Your Spine” for PTP (two of Al’s other projects).
AND he collaborated with Martin Atkins and does a few songs for the band Pigface and together they released the album Bedside Toxicology as RX.
Ogre and Bill Leeb were in a short-lived project together called Muteual Mortuary. Also, Bill Leeb’s band Front Line Assembly is really good.
Ogre has done a lot of one-off collaborations and projects, like writing “Ode to Groovie” for the In Defense of Animals compilation album, a Madonna cover for a Madonna compilation album, working with KMFDM on their albums Symbols and Adios, Paul Barker on his Fix This!!! album, and with Bill Rieflin as The Petty Tyrants.
He’s also done music for the Descent II OST, remixes for John Carpenter, and since he’s been in some musicals he’s also featured on the Repo! the Genetic Opera, Devil’s Carnival, and Alleluia: The Devil’s Carnival soundtracks.
Dave Rave Ogilvie (their sound engineer/producer until 2004) mixed Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”
Yeah :) Good luck :)
