It's not the knowledge that X gon give it to me, I can deal with that. He was clearly and repeatedly upfront with this information - crystal clear intentions. It's not knowing when - the anticipation, even a burst of anxiety. Was it offered at some point and I missed out? No, DMX be praised, he wouldn't do that.

One wonders, as the world burns and my animus withers in rote repetition - will it live up to the hype at this point? The idea that I'll be given it at an unknown time in the future, by X of course, has been a real comfort to me during some tough times. Honestly, maybe that's enough. This covenant - X and I, the giving of it - might be more powerful than actually being given it by X. It might not be something one can even give. It's possible that it is shared and cherished instead, even by X. The great wheel turns, the death of ego, the gift enriches the giver.

Indeed, it's easy to overlook X's willingness to give it and his public vow to do so. One should ask, who gives it to X?
