Hmm..... I don't think about LOK rarepairs as much, but I do have a few. However, aside from Hukki and Irosami, most of them are more along the lines of "they intrigue me in theory but I would need to explore them more," rather than "I am actively invested in them." (The other exception to this is Makonora, which is actually perfect and I was so galaxy-brained for coming up with it.)

What do you think of weilin? (Wei x Bolin)

I don't really ship it but I don't have anything against it! I follow a couple of blogs who post some Weilin content and I totally see the appeal. I think I just default to Bopal because they're canon and that one comic panel has Wuko mirroring Bopal. But hey. Mako bridal carries Wu, Bolin bridal carries Wei. I totally get it! I also hc Bolin as being pansexual.

I try not to hate on any ships. Even the ones that I dislike (which honestly, I only really dislike incest ships.) I mean. Don't think less of me. But I've even been known to read and enjoy a fic or two featuring Mako or Wu paired with other characters 🫣

Basically if Wuko is in a fic or fanart or whatever, I'll enjoy it and reblog even if there's side ships that I'm not crazy about. (Unless there's incest.)

The more I think about it, the more I just fucking hate Young Justice. I genuine hate the animated series so fucking much. I only like it's version of Beast Boy, I find nothing else enjoyable about it anymore. It's version of Superboy is just Mako from Legend of Korra except without the sympathetic backstory or Bolin/Wu to bounce off of. Which makes him just a standard YA protagonist and love interest for Miss Martian. In just one fucking movie Reign of the Supermen Kon, and I HATE HAVING TO ALWAYS MAKE THAT DISTINCTION had more personality that than bland brick had in 4 entire seasons. But why then couldn't they have swapped universes. Why does Reign Kon have to be the design that is gone forever, doomed to never get a happy ending or ever be seen alive or happy again. Remembered only as a pathetic weakling who's popularity pales in comparison to Damian x Raven and is never seen even in fan art because nobody cares about him more than that fucking ship. Meanwhile YJ Kon hogs all of the attention, and is treated as all but the definitive animation version of Kon.

I never want to see a single episode of Young Justice (animated) again in my fucking life.

They should have swapped universes.

this one is probably never gonna be fully written, but it's a fun idea that i like to toss around sometimes! i made it at the height of my criminal minds obsession a couple years back

anyway, here's the makeup of the team + what character they sort of resemble

Lin is Hotch

Tenzin is Rossi (team dad moment)

Asami is Prentiss

Korra is the newest recruit

Mako and Bolin are former beat cops, both similar to Morgan in some ways (Mako being a total badass and Bolin being a flirty goof)

Opal is JJ, the media liason

Wu is Garcia, their technical analyst

i also added in Iroh 2 and his sister, who i named Mizuki. Iroh is former military, and Mizuki is their super genius, aka Reid

i was planning on sort of basing the cases/unsubs they deal with on the antagonists from the show, though i never fully figured out exactly how i wanted to go about doing that

anyway, here's some stuff that i wrote for it, sort of similar to S1E1 of criminal minds :)

“So, you’re FBI, right?” The young woman cooed, twirling a strand of bright red hair around her finger, “What unit do you work for?”  Sitting across the table from her, Bolin Jiang just grinned, “That’s classified, sweetheart.” Not a moment later, a strong hand was ruffling itself through his head of dark hair, followed by a voice of, “Liar. It’s on your credentials, which you have to carry with you at all times. He’s just trying to impress you by being mysterious.” “Mako!” Bolin protested, glaring at his older brother with a pout, “A guy can’t spill all his secrets on a first date!” The redhead sitting at the table looked up to the other man, “Are you FBI as well?” “SSA Mako Jiang, member of the FBI’s behavioral analysis unit.” He pulled his wallet from the inside pocket of his coat, flipping it open to view the credentials that, yes, he had to keep with him at all times.  Bolin just sighed and rolled his eyes, “Ginger, meet my brother, Mako. We work together. On the same team.” “Unfortunately,” Mako fake sighed, though he couldn’t really hide the fondness in his voice as he looked over his little brother. “Anyway, we’ve gotta go. Bolin, have you even checked your phone?” “What-” The young man was cut off as Mako showed him his own phone, and the text it had received.  “I’m getting everyone else together. They’re all partying so hard they probably haven’t gotten the texts or calls either.” Bolin sighed, but made his goodbyes with Ginger and followed Mako through the crowded bar. “You only noticed because you’re so antisocial and spend the entire time against a wall instead of enjoying yourself.” Mako ignored the dig, used to Bolin’s half-hearted insults, and stalked through the bar, looking out for the rest of their team. They weren’t all together tonight, but Iroh and Asami were around here somewhere, and if they found Iroh they found Mizuki, and then they could all head to the office. Despite this bar not being one of their usual haunts, Mako was still able to track down his teammates fairly easily. Asami was at the bar, as expected, smiling at all the men crowded around her, vying for her attention. Mako had to admit, it was kind of satisfying to sidle up to her and show her his phone, instantly putting all her attention on him. He could practically feel the disappointment radiating off the other men.  “Sorry I missed that, I was a bit distracted,” Asami apologized, passing the bartender her credit card to pay off the tab.  “No problem. We don’t usually get called in this late, so it’s gotta be important.” Mako turned to his brother. “You stay here, I’ll go grab Iroh and see where Mizuki is.” As expected, Iroh was on the dance floor, making himself known to men and women alike. Asami rarely danced at bars, used to the serenity and order of ballroom dancing, but Iroh had to be dragged away most nights. Likely had something to do with being in the military for so many years. Of course, Mako never asked.

You know I don’t think I’ve ever rly done a post on why I like Mako, my forever blorbo:

He’s just the kind of neutral character I like and I think it’s because I really don’t have a strong personality and I tend to like characters some people think are boringg because they’re the straight man. Scott Summers was my favourite x-man lol.

He has weird eyebrows. It’s a plus for sure.

He has a tragic backstory, but it’s trauma that’s related to poverty. His parents were killed young and he’s been in a caretaker role since he was eight. That leaves him emotionally stunted. Emotional constipation is my jam. There is literally a post compiling all of the characters in the legend of korra crying, and Mako isn’t in it because he doesn’t cry. I think he needs a good cry.

Also his parents were killed by a firebender, he is a firebender, the show never explores this juicy source of angst.

He generally cares and is very protective over his friends. He doesn’t even really hide it, at the start of book 1 it’s clear he only cares about the people he cares about. This changes by book 4 when he sacrifices himself for the city. His world has expanded.

There’s a ruthless side to Mako, he can be a little dark, see how he threatened people for Korra in book 1 (and then Wu in book 4 lol?). He killed Ming-Hua and my own HC is that he was probs fine with because out of the four I think Mako is the most pragmatic (though tbh I don’t think we’ve seen all of what Asami can offer so maybe second most. Think Asami would murder easily).

I like his dynamic with Bolin a lot, and a lot of book 3 slaps because of this (ignore whatever the jail thing in book 2 because it’s just strange.)

I also like his dynamic with Wu which is why I’m a wuko shipper lol.

He is a very bad communicator. I think that’s neat, because communication is actually something people in general suck at talking, and I don’t ever really like people saying ‘just talk!’ A response to characters conflict, because people don’t just fucking talk to each other. Communication is hard.

Mako starts an eighteen year old who thinks he knows everything but really doesn’t. The only person he has had to rely on his entire life is himself, so his outlook on the world is very warped by his own perception of it, so I think he lacks introspection and can’t really relate to many people emotionally so he couldn’t understand Korra’s frustrations in book 2 (though yes to say Korra was also in the wrong). By book 4 he has grown more chill to trust and support Korra implicitly (who has also grown as well).

I love the breakups. Mako and Korra and Asami all seemed to like each other but never really understood one another. A lot of the issues between them were not just started by Mako (ppl forget Korra initiated the love triangle by kissing Mako without asking when she knew he had a gf) and it’s just teenagers being dumb and not being honest with eachother. I don’t think the writers set out do this in book 1 but by choosing to end the relationships in book 2 I feel like there was some awareness to the flaws present in the relationships. It is, accidentally, one of the more realistic relationships squabbles on a kids show. I love that shit because I’m weird.

All of this leads to this incredibly flawed doofus who means well. I think that’s blorbotastic.

Anyway because most of the fandom hate for the relationship drama is towards Mako I feel the need to defend him since it’s just not that bad. I also feel the need to explain every time that Mako dying would have been a very bad way to end the series, please guys, I will fight you in the streets over this.

None of this is very well explored in canon. I don’t think Mako is a blank slate character, a lot of his character is defined early on and is consistent, but it is not well developed beyond the initial setup at all. This is great for fanfic and it’s fun for headcanons. Hooray!

Because it’s underdeveloped your headcanon doesn’t need much time to work with canon as long as you actually watch the series.

I am a true nerd, and as such, continously seek out new media and their fandoms, and become involved with them, while also cyclically coming back to the ones I already love. I am a romantic, and I love seeing love in general (all types of love, not just romantic!), so I am also a very big shipper!

I don't always have a set ship(s) for every fandom I find myself in, nor do I think it necessary to try and "prove" that mine are better than other ships. I like what I like, and I like seeing what others like as well. So I might have OTPs, but I also like engaging with content for all kinds of ships, even true rarepairs.

I also don't think it necessary for a fandom to have ships, so just because I have a listed ship that I like/love, doesn't mean I can't have neutral/objective thoughts and opinions about that particular piece of media.

You've said you don't do modern AUs but if you did, who would have social media? And what kind?

That's true, I usually don't. But you know what? Why the fuck not!

Of the original generation, I think Su Beifong is the ultimate Facebook Grandma. Where she is the queen of humble bragging, FOR SURE. I don't think Baatar Sr would be into social media much at all - just not really his thing. I think Pema might also have FB, where she would post sweet updates and occasional Boomer memes and DM her family. Lin would not be caught dead on social media and refuses to look at anybody else's posts. LoLo would probably belong to the same private FB group as Bumi II and Iroh II. It's probably called something rude like SEAMEN 4 U or something. Where they reminisce over past exploits and compare fire whiskey or something. Post stupid Navy memes. I think both Izumi and Kya would be on FB, but they'd be private accounts and only for the sake of seeing family pictures and sending DMs to the rest of their generation.

Tenzin would probably have official Air Nation social media with lots of useful information. Which would actually be overseen by Jinora, of course. I think poor Tenzin would be confused by social media. And avoid it as much as possible. Jinora would probably do most of the posting and all of the accounts would be very well done.

Asami doesn't have time for social media; she has a PR firm that does Future Industries social media for her. Korra probably has both Twitter (I refuse to call it you know what) and TikTok, where she is the ultimate Gen X poster, and quite popular with all age ranges. There's air guitar. There's showy displays of bending. There's hilarious interviews with spirits. Every once in awhile she gets serious, as well. She's very popular because she's the Avatar. She's pretty busy, so she's not a daily poster by any means, but is still well liked. She has matured enough that she just blocks trolls instead of debating them.

Wu has FB, Instagram, Twitter - all of which are connected and basically post the same thing. Nothing live because the man would not be caught dead without anything wholly and completely curated and photoshopped. While he does write most of his posts and takes some photos, his posts are curated by his PR firm before being published and are meant to represent the Hou-Ting family as a whole. The Pool of Golden Blooms does have social media, but it's done by his publisher. Wu does have a private FB account so he can keep up with friends and family, however.

Mako would have Whatsapp so he could get in touch with folks but that would be about it. He'll gamely watch whatever memes anyone else shows him, though. He's often included in Wu's posts and he's okay with it. As long as he isn't required to actually keep up with it.

Qi would have Insta only; no candid shots, but something incredibly stylish and cool. Fashionista account, for sure. Followed by thousands and thousands. Never responds to anyone. Please. As if they would. Scorpio.

Bolin is the KING of social media. One of those celebrity actor accounts that everyone loves. He'd be like the Mark Hamill of Avatar Social Media. Or the Neil Gaiman. He'd respond as much as he could.

Opal would be the Georgia Tennant of Twitter and Instagram. Enough said.

Nuo would have FB and Instagram. She would not post all that much, but she'd keep up with what everyone else was doing. However, she and Wu would Facetime daily. There is official Zaofu social media but that's done by the PR team.

Wing would mostly post stuff about his garden. Wei would mostly post stuff about his pro-bending. Neither of them is very regular. They are both pretty busy with their lives and are more outdoorsy dudes anyhow.

Ikki mostly does live blogging, and she's fairly popular. Sometimes Baatar Jr is in it by accident and he is HIGHLY CRANKY about it, which Ikki thinks is hilarious. Most people think he's doing it as part of a long-running joke but no. He's legit crabby. He thinks social media is the downfall of civilization and refuses to use it. (When it is pointed out to him that his Aunt thinks the same he gets real fucking pissy.)

Huan does Twitter and Insta, but only about his art. He doesn't interact.

Meelo does regular live blogging like his sister, mostly about the Southern Air Temple as well as the school for the Deaf they have there. I would imagine he would do some sort of YouTube channel to learn Sign Language. (I have a lot of headcanons about Meelo eventually coming into his own and being an amazing teacher.)

Rohan? Too busy for social media, probably, although if Jinora asked him to do something specific for Air Nation social media he would gladly help out.

Hou-Ting kids? Naoki would do occasional Instagram posts, probably. It would focus a lot on her bending/her students' bending. She wouldn't do anything with regards to the Fire Nation court - that would be done by the official Fire Nation Royal accounts. Hemadri, on the other hand, would have a very popular Twitter account. People think it's Naoki doing it, but it's actually Lady Uma, which is something only Juziya, Naoki, and Sozui know. Juziya and Sozui would be covered by the official Fire Nation Royal accounts as well.

Zhi along with San would do popular desert, bug and geology videos/blogs across social media. They'd be like the Avatar version of Shane and Ryan with some Bear Grylls thrown in. Great rapport and really fun videos that actually teach people things. Ping and Amak sometimes show up. There are many calls in the comments for Ping to take his shirt off. Ping is mortified.

Meili would not do social media often but when she did it would be about her clinic and/or charity work, never anything personal. Meili is a very private person. Tupilek would keep up social media for Bridge Clinic, and would have a private FB account to keep in touch with his family down south.

Sayuri wouldn't do social media, except for her wholly anonymous and totally secret Tumblr account, which would be full of weird fandom stuff. She'd have the shoelaces, okay?

They still won't follow each other, however, because they both understand the importance of having their own thing to themselves.

Rose? Oh god no. She'd have a sophisticated website for her jewelry business but it would be done professionally, she'd have nothing to do with it. Poppy? Twitter. Where she would be known for being just savage to people who pissed her off. As would Jai, who would offend people on the regular. God help you if you attempted to troll one of them, because the other would come gunning for you.

Bu would probably blog every once in awhile, but not consistently. Pearl? No. She's as much offline as she can be.

Goba has a popular YouTube channel where he teaches Airbending meditation techniques and body strengthening exercises that anybody can use.

Katara II would have a YouTube channel about archival techniques, as well as Airbending history - which are mostly voiceovers, since she's not comfortable in front of the camera. She'd be well-known and appreciated, but more among the academic crowd. Tseten would enjoy social media, but wouldn't be consistent. A month of daily blogging and then six months of nothing while he'd be neck deep into his art.

Bhuti has one of the most popular travel blogs in the world. She'd be one of those people who would have an entire TikTok channel of her dancing with various people all over, that kind of thing. She's fun, she's engaging, she goes everywhere. Ever wanted to hear an air bison fart? Bhuti's got you covered. People love her, and she does lots of fun and spontaneous interviews as she travels as well.

Heyo! I'm an 18+ roleplayer here and I'm looking for Legend of Korra or Avatar the last airbender roleplays!

I can do canon ships! But I can also do OC x CC double ups.

For Avatar the last airbender. The ships I like are Zuko x Sokka, Zuko x Aang, Zuko x Aang and I'd like to explore more of Sokka and Toph as well. I can play any from either ship. If we'll be doing a double up I usually like to take Zuko or Aang as my OC's love interest!

Now for Legend of Korra. Here are the ships I love. Korra x Asami, Mako x Prince Wu, Bolin and Korra, I would also love to write out a sort of what if situation? Like what if Tenzin and Lin never broke up? What if he never got with Pema? And see what we can do there! I can play any of the pairs as well! If we're doing a double up then I would like to take Tenzin, Lin, Bolin, or Zaheer!

I want this to include heavy angst, drama, romance, nsfw is allowed but definitely not needed!
