A wee ol’ Austin concept design 🐶! I wanted to keep him looking rather much like Texas but, he is separate being in this case. He is friend looking, friend shaped! He wants friends and buddies and fellows 💪 what a social little butterfly!! I’m unsure about his hair but 🤔 I’m content with this so far!

He is baby angel from heaven… I like to imagine Texas gave him his handkerchief that he treasures very much so… such a smiley little baby too …

some of the states are just real bad at the fake name thing; like Kentucky panicked when someone asked his name once and now in a total of four towns he's gotta go by Tucker and in another four Kenny. Florida just tells people his name is Flo and when ppl point out that's usually a woman's name he pretends to be all offended and says he was named after his grandma. California accidentally started to introduce himself as California but caught himself and now his name is Calvin, Michigan doing the same thing and ending up with Mitchell. Indiana out here introducing himself as Indiana and then having to lie and say his parents just really liked Indiana Jones. The Dakota's are fighting over who gets Dakota for their civilian name, they have an elaborate story about being separated at birth and accidentally named the same thing. Texas has on multiple occasions told someone his name was Austin bc it was just the first thing that came to mind (Austin gets upset bc "thats my name" "shut up"). Georgia has gone by George multiple different times, but it's arguably funnier when Washington goes by George.

The closet was non-existent but Texas didn’t say anything cause he wanted to wait till Austin was comfortable enough to tell him. He had to play so stupid when one of his other kids makes jokes about it and Austin would be so nervous. He’d just be like- “the closet is glass? What are you talkin’ about?” Or “wdym he’s a walkin’ rainbow he wears mostly black?” His kids genuinely thought he was an idiot till Austin came out and Texas, while comforting him and saying he accepts him, said I’ve known for a long time

I just noticed something rather cute about Austin. Whenever they make Austin the son of Texas, the fandom made Austin a daddy's boy, which I eat that shit up.

Cause like-- AAHHHH, Baby Austin, being a Daddy's Boy, warms my heart, and Texas portrays as awkward but still loving his baby boy.

I also like to think Houston and Dallas are Daddy's Boy, too, but like Texas, they be too manly to show, lol.

Texas still goes to Church on Sundays. Austin does go with him.

Austin is his only son with the woman he married after Cali broke his heart in the 1920s. Texas is a good but flawed dad. He tries to understand his son, but his son is weird. He loves his son though.

The other cities (Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Fort Worth and El Paso) personified in Texas are not Texas' children, but they are family friends.

Texas loves making brisket and anything to do with his big smoker at his ranch. He and Louie have a bit of a food rivalry when it comes to Southern cookouts, though it's more one-sided on Texas' side. Louie doesn't even know they're in a rivalry. (Of course, Virginia is always the top dog when he's there to cook.)

while I can see your point, I think that's played off as more of a joke than anything else. that said, an au with cali as a parental figure to austin would be cool. in a fandom like this, with really no set relationships between the characters, it's fun to play with dynamics and relationship headcanons :)
