a little bit emotional right now: this pocket journal has been my friend for the past 11 months and I just finished writing in its last page. I鈥檓 forever grateful that I can find comfort in journaling and I鈥檓 thankful for being able to make many friends over the past decades. 馃尮 reblog is ok, don鈥檛 repost/use

Purge
-
I wake up,
Filled with the rage
That could only belong to
My father's daughter.
Overflowing from my lips,
Curling the edges of my existence.
Flowers wilt at my arrival,
And birds silence themselves.
They silence themselves.
I dig through my shelves;
Dig through cupboards desperately,
Trying to find the antidote.
A solution to the blood
With which I was created.
My touch burns things
I know I love outside of anger.
This isn't me,
I plead with the universe.
Grabbing a notebook in panic.
I begin scribbling nonsense,
Letting the words sear into the pages.
The birds begin chirping again,
Quietly.
The flowers quiver,
But bring their color back to me.
A temporary solution
To a lifelong ailment,
My grandmother had taught me.
When the darkness overtakes her light,
I reach for that little notebook.
Full of burns,
Bleeding with sins,
A hand to hold the damned.
My little book of miracles.
x

Rethinking my Small Devotion to Astarion
As a tween, reading Anne Rice novels, I was terrified of Lestat giving me coded messages when I felt he was stalking me.
Then with Assassin鈥檚 Creed 2, I had the same feeling with Ezio. Been collecting newspaper articles about him.
Yes, I like vampires. But my writing makes me think of AA as some kind of forceful person.
In videos, from NiraArts and IamKitty, he's not abusive.
I dunno why I got myself admiring a vampire like Astarion. I carry a mini shrine of him at Comic Con, I met fellow fans at booths, and I sleep with plushies of him.
He's my comfort character and I barely touched Baldur's Gate 3.
My mind is my own worst enemy. It's easier to write him as a douche due to listening to ASMR and fans/meepers suggesting that Asecendant Astarion is a bad person.
When the evidence says differently.
I didn't like my first Batstarion fic because I was forcing AA onto biting Nessie and it just left a bad taste in my month while writing it.
But I keep on doing the same mistake. My mind is my own worst enemy. Every time, it kicks the living shit out of me.
I mean, yeah. I need help. Being SA, being told you'll never be good enough, and always competing with your sibling had brought me to have a screwed up perception on relationships.
Which I try to hide it by going on shopping trips.
I really don't want to end up stalking Neil, due to clips of him embracing Astarion in a D&D campaigns.
I just want to watch Astarion/AA from afar and be a silent devoted fan. Liking him, but not basically interacting with him.
I use my writing as a sense to deal with issues.
Thank you for feedback. I appreciate the help. I want to be a better fan and not write abusive fics.

tight-lipped and high-strung I would climb
body full of rocks and mud and electric clouds
for a moment of clarity, clearing sky
heart ringing true, connecting winds
in the last light of day
fully settled in my too thin skin
breathing everywhere
when everything ring all at once
and I can finally sleep

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:聽
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character鈥檚 judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is聽an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)

Tips for writing those gala scenes, from someone who goes to them occasionally:
Generally you unbutton and re-button a suit coat when you sit down and stand up.
You鈥檙e supposed to hold wine or champagne glasses by the stem to avoid warming up the liquid inside. A character out of their depth might hold the glass around the sides instead.
When rich/important people forget your name and they鈥檙e drunk, they usually just tell you that they don鈥檛 remember or completely skip over any opportunity to use your name so they don鈥檛 look silly.
A good way to indicate you don鈥檛 want to shake someone鈥檚 hand at an event is to hold a drink in your right hand (and if you鈥檙e a woman, a purse in the other so you definitely can鈥檛 shift the glass to another hand and then shake)
Americans who still kiss cheeks as a welcome generally don鈥檛 press lips to cheeks, it鈥檚 more of a touch of cheek to cheek or even a hover (these days, mostly to avoid smudging a woman鈥檚 makeup)
The distinctions between dress codes (black tie, cocktail, etc) are very intricate but obvious to those who know how to look. If you wear a short skirt to a black tie event for example, people would clock that instantly even if the dress itself was very formal. Same thing goes for certain articles of men鈥檚 clothing.
Open bars / cash bars at events usually carry limited options. They鈥檙e meant to serve lots of people very quickly, so nobody is getting a cosmo or a Manhattan etc.
Members of the press generally aren鈥檛 allowed to freely circulate at nicer galas/events without a very good reason. When they do, they need to identify themselves before talking with someone.

being someone who's passionate about their interests when you're a horror fan really is a special layer of hell because every interaction you have with another person where the conversation turns to your hobbies and personal entertainments is a trial where if you show too much unrepentant glee at getting an opportunity to talk about your preferred subject you get to watch them mentally move you onto their list of untrustworthy individuals to avoid in the future in real time
