For some reason I don't like reader x character fics just because it feels so wrong for that character to be in love with someone other than their love interest!!😭😭 I can appreciate the writing and I don't mind when people make them it's just I never purposely seek out them ykwim?
Please tell me I'm not the odd one out

Tik Tok gets REALLY mad at me whenever I try to do anything queer over there, so Tumblr... here I am. Embrace me, please.
My very bisexual book, We Own the Stars, is out today!
I want to share with you my FAVORITE review from an ARC reader because it turns out, they're my ideal reader. They just *got* the book. They knew what I was trying to do and were the exact person I wanted to have it resonate with. Yay!

If this sounds like a good time to you, please check out my book. It's on Kindle Unlimited!

Etsy vs. Ko-Fi for Paperback Books
Hello, Writeblr and Bookblr! I need your opinions!
I currently sell signed paperback copies of my books on Etsy. Unfortunately this has been...less than profitable lately, since Etsy not only charges a listing fee for all items but ALSO takes anywhere from 75-80% of sales in fees. I have to sell quite a few books on Etsy to break even, let alone be profitable, on the platform. As a small creator, it's not very sustainable right now.
So, I am considering moving my paperback sales to Ko-Fi instead. I currently sell eBooks on Ko-Fi with a "pay what you want" feature (min. $1) and am curious if anyone has experience selling physical goods on Ko-Fi. How does it compare to Etsy, and what features does it offer? Is it worth it to get Ko-Fi Gold?
Or should I continue on Etsy and just promote it more to make those sales goals?
Please reblog, comment, send me an ask, or vote in the poll to help me make a decision on this!
Note: I was tempted to add a "use both" option but due to my mental health and stress levels, I don't think I could manage and promote two different platforms right now. I only "use both" right now because Ko-Fi ONLY has the eBooks, which don't require nearly as much work from me to fulfill orders on as paperback orders. This post is strictly about where signed paperback orders should be.

we all talk about an oh moment, but what about an oh
you realise what you know is a lie, what lies ahead is not going to be kind to you
your world was crashing around you and you didnt realise
a finality, an end an oh to realise youve been betrayed and strung up to die

edenfall launch! an angel and her darling eldritch approaches...
hello fellow rotten angels! welcome, once again, to the slums… this time, though, instead of playing as that deranged angel ezekiel, you'll be inhabiting eden, the eldritch within ezekiel that loves her… a little too much.
Tumblr media
edenfall is brought to you by a few familiar faces: josh carlat leads the game's development once again, carefully creating those crash screens and creepy text we know all too well. lorraine wong brings to you the liminal soundtrack and the slum's incomprehensible echoes. lauren kong reprises her role as ezekiel, giddy and manic and loving. juicydev ensures the eerie writing and gameplay hits just the right note, like a perfectly brewed cup of grass tea. our anonymous artist returns with their renaissance-esque renderings of the slum's angels, gorgeous and haunting. we're joined by clockworkjoker, who illustrates the slum angel's sprites with the twist of their personal style, and binaryheartgames, who delivers eden's slum devourings with green verve. and of course, i return with directing and writing this next instalment of ezekiel (and eden's) descent into the slums.
Tumblr media
i am excited to present you with day 1 to day 4 (with a sprinkling of day 5) of edenfall. although edenfall is not complete, as the full game is intended to be 7 days long, we intend on finishing the game around june 2024 and have a steam released planned in the near future: do look out for that!
if you love the seraphim slum universe, do consider supporting us with a donation when downloading the game: your support helps us pay for the $100 steam release fee and helps us continue developing games.
thank you for reading, and we hope you enjoy your descent into the slums - as the eldritch-thing eden this time.
signing off, rosesrot

HOT TAKE
Writing about dark topics should always be fine as long as it is done in a respectful way
HOWEVER
If you'd like to do it in a "disrespectful" way for entertainment value or something, then the least you can do is add trigger warnings.
Media should never be banned, it should be, at the very least, kept safe in a museum or archived. Yes, even the racist books. Dr. Suess is someone I could talk for hours about. He wrote essays for the New York Times, but he (unintentionally) had racist caricatures in some of his children's books. Ronald Dahl, who I hate with every fiber of my being, should still have his books be archived so we don't forget that hurting people was seen as normal.
You might ask "well what do you do about the racist kid's books?" Glad you asked. You could censor those, but keep the originals in a museum. Just don't get rid of them entirely.
History is important. Books and media are important. Knowledge is, in every sense of the word, power. If someone is keeping you from learning history, if someone is keeping you from reading a book, they have an agenda.

♰ 𝔇𝔢𝔞𝔱𝔥 𝔫𝔬𝔱𝔢 ♰
I watch them linger, at stone etched in loss, shoulders black hunched, a lonely moth slumped.
Lurid petals are softly gifted to the earth, a canvas of satiric afterbirth. Young, then old and in between, gazing out at, what could have been.
Paper hands hold a bowing head, whispers float and drop, like lead. Arm raised in silent question, never did they learn their lesson.
Faint thought tickels a heavy tongue, wanting to comfort distressed fingers wrung. Black clad bodies part, salt lingering in the air, silent in their saddness, and so they leave it there.
Letters left written never to be read, Do not pity souls carried off dead, pity the words they left unsaid.

Please look at this cute cat on a blanket!
Isn't she adorable!
Tumblr media
Thank you for looking at her! Now, if I could hold your attention for one more second, I'd like to talk to you about something else related to Blankets!
Are you a writer?* Have you ever published anything, be it a small 100 word drabble or a massive 300k behemoth of a fanfiction, the following information is for you! <3 (*This post is aimed at writers in particular, but of course, any form of fanwork can inspire any new form of fanwork. The principle remains the same! <3)
Have you considered adding a Blanket Permission Statement to your Ao3 profile or in your pinned post on tumblr? Let me explain:
What is a Blanket Permission Statement, I hear you ask. Very generally speaking, a Blanket Permission Statement, BP for short, is a short text in your profile or pinned post which let's other people know that you are fine with new fanwork created based on your writing.
When it comes to other fanworks inspired by fanfiction, most often people will think of fanart and as a writer myself, the idea of someone even considering art based off of my writing is incredibly thrilling. But there are a ton of other forms of fanworks that can be inspired by a single work.
One of these things is a Podfic. Perhaps you've heard the term before, perhaps you are an avid listening already, perhaps you've seen it and always wondered what it is. The simplest way to explain Podfic would perhaps be: an audiobook based of a fanfiction.
From elaborate, highly edited, sound-scaped masterpieces to a simple, loving read-aloud recording of written fanwork, Podfics can add a thrilling new dimension to fanfiction.
That sounds exciting to you? Well, excellent! Now, if only there was a convenient and easy way to let one of the multitude of talented, excited, eager Podfic-creators out there know that it's okay to Podfic your writing. I have good news! I've included a few options you can simply copy and paste into your Ao3 profile or Tumblr and you are good to go! Version 1: Full Permission: I hereby give Blanket Permission to use my writing in any form of transformative fanwork, including Fanart, Fanfiction, Podfic.
If you have any questions, you can reach me here: (prefered method, either email or tumblr or other) Version 2: Conditional Permission: If you would like to use my writing in any form of transformative fanwork (i.E. Fanart, Fanfiction, Podfic), please reach out through (prefered method).
Version 3: Permission with exceptions: I give permission to use my writing in transformative fanworks, excluding (type of work). Version 3 Alternative: I give permission to use my writing in transformative fanworks (i.E. Fanart, Fanfiction, Podfic), with the exception of (either type of work or specific writing), Version 4: No Permission: I do not permit any form of transformative fanwork of my writing.
Version 4 Alternative: I do not permit any form of transformative fanwork of my writing, except for (either type of fanwork, or specific writing). And that's it! Adding any of these statements to your information, perhaps even in the top/bottom commentary of Ao3 will help other artists determine whether they can use your work for inspiration! And who knows, you may be surprised how many people you can inspire with your work! Before you go, I would like to thank you for your time and hope you'll consider adding a BP to your info! Please share this post in your writing/creator circles and spread the word! Let's all create together and fill the world with wonderful things! <3

Just a reminder that fanfic authors don’t owe you anything.
We don’t owe you updates. We don’t owe you explanations. We don’t owe you more chapters. We don’t owe you a sequel. We don’t owe you a certain amount of words. We don’t owe you certain tropes or writing styles. And we definitely don’t owe you more fanfiction.
We are not content creators, we are creative writers who do this for free just for fuck’s sake. We do this in what little open time we may have, in lieu of having families and friends and jobs and obligations and of course, burnout.
It’s okay to ask for more. It’s okay to want more. We like it when you’re engaged! But the second you think that we owe you something? The second you start “expecting” something from us? You’ve forgotten one of the very baselines of fanfiction- writing it because it’s fun.

From my instagram:
Mon Reyes did the artwork!
Before there was Xavian, the sweet-and-spicy bodyguard space elf... there was Five. An equally smart but deadly gargoyle-like alien just trying to get the F off the planet so he can be left alone in peace.
He gets more than he bargains for, of course, when he crash lands in the Netherlands and meets Sanne.
Parents aren't supposed to have favorites, but as an author, I definitely do. Stroopwafels & Starlight's Five and We Own the Stars's Xavian are two of my favorite MMCs I've written!
If you read and enjoyed We Own the Stars, then I highly recommend moving straight into Stroopwafels & Starlight.
***
Something I haven't mentioned in the past because it never comes up in the plot itself is that yes, this book is still inherently queer, because Five is pansexual! If you're cute, have a cute personality, then you're game to him.
Sanne, on the other hand, is straight. No one has asked me about her, but I figured I'd mention it anyway hahaha.

When I stare at the ocean, it feels home. When I look at the sky, it calls me home. There is a place called paradise above it all. Perhaps when I transcend all level of dimensions, I will find it. But for now I can only have faith in one thing. There are pillars holding up the paradise. Thousands and thousands of pillars of beliefs. The longer I live, the further away I go from it. The more I think of it, The farther the dimension of time pulls me away from it. I have never ever thought of stepping a foot in it.
Perhaps, I had some other images of paradise. For me, it was a place where the gods and goddesses, tired from the whims of rules and regulations, dimensions of lies and truth, created a place where no pain existed. Hence, the dimension of sadness wouldn't hold them back from anywhere they wanted to be.
I am just a mere thinker; an imaginer. In the pursuit, I feel myself become an imagination; or perhaps an image. Always skewed, rarely accurate. A model; a partial representation of what life is supposed to be. I am a byproduct of the world, its history, and its choice. How do I even understand the concept of reality when everything is a representation of a scenery I used to draw as a child?

wishlist edenfall on steam now!
hi rotterlings! it’s been a little while, but i hope you’ve been keeping well (and i hope that your playthrough of seraphim slum was everything you dreamt of!)
i'm so excited to announce that edenfall, our prequel-slash-sequel to seraphim slum is now live on steam. you can wishlist the game now!
Tumblr media
as a refresher, this is what edenfall is all about:
You're Eden, an eldritch thing. You're in love with your angel Ezekiel. But Ezekiel is enamoured by the slum she is damned to and the angels stagnating in it.
She wants the slum angels to fall. You would do anything to help her. But she wants you, eldritch thing you are, to swallow up the slum as she dallies with its angels. She wants you away from her, wants to love something that is not you.
And that just can't do.
You must make Ezekiel love you. You must tell Ezekiel you love her. You may be a mass of vines and branches but you have a confession to make.
Somehow, you must find a way.
(Parchments, radios, songs… something pulsing alive. Ezekiel must hear it.)
thank you all for reading and for your interest in playing edenfall! i hope to see you in the slums once more, hopefully on valentine’s day. <3
love, rosesrot
(ps: i’ll be releasing a demo of edenfall soon as well, so keep a lookout for that!)
(pps: if you'd like to be posted on my future stories and games, join my discord and say hi! i’d love to chat with you guys :D)
