I was at Deviantart looking at the wraith forms of Andrea and Emmie but I was wondering if they react if they become wraith and even as far visiting the ghost world. Bonus if u do the sketches plz.

I guess everyone had the same clothes but Jes was in kilt in SO MANY PLACES like the weather? Wasn't he cold? What if he had to go to Fjerda as well? ALL IN KILT? Jesper Fahey, we love you. 

- WESPER truly one of the best this season, because they were so safe while everything else was well.. scary or terrifying or heartbreaking or triggering or else. Darkling's grisha army? Scary. Rollins basically becoming the ruler of Hellgate? Terrifying. So many of my beloved people dying or almost dying? And then there's WESPER just being Wesper and my queer heart loved that. I've waited for so long to see them on screen. And as i think every other book reader i was.. SURPRISED no SHOCKED because i knew Wylan won't be 16 but somehow in my brain i didn't think adult wesper will be really well adult wesper. So i had to pause MANY TIMES bc wait they did what.. wait they kissed?.. wait they kissed again?.. after i saw them in bed together waking up and Kaz being Kaz i think i stopped pausing BECAUSE this is WESPER. and i can see how so many of you friends dont know how to feel with crooked kingdom parts in this season or Kanej getting closer or Wesper being this close already or the way Wesper met and all i can is that.. we want the crows yes? We want Kaz's past? Well then these characters are who we know-they just GET MORE AND MORE CLOSE every time they can, they are together so they grow closer. Both Kanej and Wesper. Because if they didn't-they wouldnt really be our kanej and wesper.. also truly Kaz's trauma and past haunts him and you really think he can somehow NOT decide to get revenge on Pekka right away? Brick by Brick, no matter the cost? We have the crows and they have each other and they feel things and there's no way they couldn't. That being said quickly abt Wesper.. i guess personally i need more teasing and the banter and the flirting and the slowburn just all that book wesper had before they got THERE where in so many ways show Wesper already is. They met they got to know each other went through some horrible adventures together discovered they like one another and then decided to move together after like weeks?months? of knowing each other? That's book wesper. But NO i dont think show Wesper is that different the core of Wesper is there(and for all upset people the 'Do the Shu not kiss before noon?' can still happen because even if Jes will know Wylan better he could so easily get overwhelmed by the world and do stupid things you know?-I'm not sure if this is a joke or not but yup) Because i had DAYS to think about it and this is exactly how more adult Wesper could act. How Kaz would act around them. I understand some of you may be not so happy with the beginning since there was no "You can't kiss me from down there, Wylan" before Jes understood Wy is an epic demolitions man and no "No. Not just girls" scene before they even kissed (so grateful Jack and Kit did that for us in that interview and SO GRATEFUL that Kit said Jes is bi-because there're still people out there who don't acknowledge that and it hurts. But that interview means THE WORLD to me.) But yes, so many book quotes that now won't work. For both Wesper and Kanej i believe. EVERYONE it's a tv show. They can make so much work in some impossible way still. And some just won't work and that's okay(?) because no matter if it's a fight between malinas or darklinas or sab and soc we are ALL grateful for this show and this cast and WE WILL BE STREAMING NON-STOP for the first 28 days at least so netflix would see we NEED more of this world on our screens. So, last thing about Wesper, maybe they can pull them apart and then together again? Since there's so much stuff Jes doesn't know about Wylan(also is Jesper the only one who knows W can't read or Kaz noticed?/also how long ago Wylan was *forced* to leave his house and for how long Kaz knows him? Does he knows KNOWS him, tho?) There's also Jesper's gambling addiction and his past and his dad and him fighting more and more with Kaz and it's not like he will just accept being a grisha and boom done. It will take time to learn to feel about it differently. So yes, i am hoping for even more deep wesper talks in the future and time alone on their own when they grow and learn and truly understand that they need each other.

-Fedyor-ok Ivan is dead and F/in the books/as well but not even one scene with him/even scene where he dies fighting on Alina's side/not even mention of him?//and SOMEONE had to let other grisha and Zoya know about Nina and M, yes? So where's F? What's up with that? 

-you have Jack playing the piano and you don't have him also SING as Wylan? are you SERIOUS?

- The change in Malina's ending(not sure how i feel about that truly) how they aren't 'dead' to the world and not together together, leaving everything behind like 'ok,we're out now it's YOUR turn bye. We retire to be happy and at peace and in love' bc it was SO malina of them AND also they were both kinda reborn like phoenixes-getting a second life, second chance. And i loved the idea of it but now.. there's so many possibilities and i have absolutely no doubt they will reunite since they are each other's home and endgame but yeah just not sure how i feel about the change in the ending. Nina not Twins? Ok. Alina using Merzost just by saying PLEASE i guess that's ok, too. But was it necessary? After all Mal is our grishaverse very own Jesus figure-he just came back faster..without merzost but the price she paid is her light, correct? Since that cut was pure shadow? So she goes to Shu Han to return the blade, obviously doesn't turn evil. She reunites with Mal and before they both have some freedom and just a break a moment for themselves and then they can return and help king Nik or decide not to? I loved for Mal to do something on his own so quickly after. At least he escaped this whole mess. But twins go back to N and Inej takes a break or just returnd fully to the crows bc JURDA PAREM?? 

-WESPER 1st meeting, like i NEED it okay? I just waited for that flashback so much. I NEED it. That's all. Even if it's dark and messy and quick and whatever i just ALWAYS need more wesper content. It's a rule for me. My yt most searched for YEARS is "Jesper and Wylan" for a reason! *they are just THE BEST* also wait THE NIGHT WE MET song was Wesper song after all or not? 

-is Demon Nikolai in deleted scenes bc I want this 

-as a HUGE malina fan i don't  care about the lack of white hair or no tattoo we all so love or even not THAT MUCH about how different Baghra's death scene was BUT GenyaDavid DavidGenya .. she wasn't even happy and safe FOR A MOMENT there was war and shadow monsters and the Fold..and they did not get married-like i have read ROW only once bc as much as i loved return of my 2 fav grishaverse couples MALINA and WESPER, and Kaz(?) I just.. i'm still not over it. That certain death. So i dont remember the details but.. i want a funeral, there should be one. If you go THERE go there fully so i could sob even more. But yes, the ruby, the plan of the ring-it showed like.. those compliments-the list. It showed how David always thought about Genya,how hard he was trying for her. And the moment he protected her? The line 'i can't feel his heartbeat' is like 'i can't find David' in another universe my heart is so broken for G and i don't think i will ever be able to rewatch s2 and not sob. 

So YEAH, CONGRATS S2-you delivered  2 deaths of grishaverse that hurt me the most(out of 3) only that I still did NOT recover from THAT one. So it hurts. D and Nik will never become friends in the show now never create and invent together- 

WHICH IS WHY I LOVED WESPER SO MUCH. my joy this season among all the crying. 

 Fav episodes-2x06,07,08 (YES i love 2x01-how come it is barely first ep of s2? And yes 2x02 WESPER fighting scene, plus 2x04 KAZ and WESPER)

 And yes s2 was so much greater than s1. I don't know where we go from here and if THAT will happen(SixOfCrows here comes trouble trouble..) but for now i'm just so grateful for being HERE.

For seeing Jes and Nina my bi duo just sitting there and watching unhinged Kaz. For Wylan who can admire butterflies and then feed them to his friends if that's what's needed. For Malina just being young and feeling the pressure. For seeing our Fjerdan in Hellgate. For Wylan playing flute and piano. For Inej and Jesper talking about Kaz. For all Genyalina hugs. For crows on THE cemetery. For Baghra's stories. For Wylan asking why NMNF. For another living Saint. For adult Wesper. For all the tiniest book scenes there-when N realized V is an idiot and they can all die, when Mal is being chased for being a deserter, and when V tried proposing to Alina. And "i love it when you quote me" and Zoya checking N out and Kaz telling her "your prince" bc Brekker is always the matchmaker. Genya and Kaz scenes this season. Tolya and Jes becoming besties. Zoya being "already a queen" for the scene when Inej cuts all the shadow monsters like a machine and Nina just slowly wakes up to see The Fold gone. For Kaz telling THOSE THREE about a new job.

I was tagged by @rjcopeseethemald! I haven't done one of these in a while and really enjoyed the questions here, so I decided I'd give it a go for my wip: Wings of Faith!

This art is a bit old but it's the last time I've drawn everyone all together haha

1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?

Surprisingly enough, Emmie (a main character, but not the protagonist) is the first part of my wip that I created (See the red girl on the top left). She was the protagonist of the very first book I wrote in fifth grade, and I wanted to pay homage to that work by including her. However, she's changed a LOT since then (even her name!), and the only remaining carry-over is the red streak in her hair.

2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

Intro song: "Run to the Devil" by Dragonwyck or "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult. Outro song: "It Will Come Back" or "Francesca" by Hozier Instrumental: "Dragonlord Placidusax" from the Elden Ring Soundtrack or "Danse Macabre" by The Oh Hellos

3. Who are your favorite characters you’ve made? Why?

Andrew, my protagonist, is by far my favorite character. Writing from the POV of an incredibly sensitive, incredibly traumatized person (who feels things very deeply), while outwardly projecting a cruel and defensive facade is... *chef's kiss* Otherwise, I'd have to say Emmie. She is a very layered and multifaceted character with an incredibly important role to play in the story, and her kindness is refreshing amid a mostly hardened cast of characters.

4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?

Six of Crows fans

Dante's Inferno fans who don't mind me bending the lore a bit

Fellow ex-Catholics

Fans of Hozier's "Unreal Unearth" album

Supernatural fans into the "corrupted angel x man struggling for redemption" dynamic

5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?

Keeping the facts straight. This has been a 10+ year project and sometimes I forget the revisions I've made, and accidentally cut out important details...

6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

Yes! Rimfaxe is a wraith, aka a shapeshifting shadow monster that takes the form of the things he's killed and eaten. (See the top left of the art above!) Emmie stole him from the government and now he's basically her kid.

7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)

They mostly walk (or fly on Rimfaxe)! Because Hell has a ceiling, the authorities restrict car transport to government officials ONLY to keep down emissions.

8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?

A giant, chapter-long fight scene that I've been working on for a literal year. It's TORTURE. Can't explain much else because of spoilers haha.

9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?

The main romance is an mlm enemies-to-friends-to-lovers angel x demon pairing! (Angel x demon pairings where they're both assholes>>>>>) Also I feel like there's been a void in lore-focused media dealing with angels and demons, and I'm hoping Wings of Faith will fill that void!

10. What are your hopes for your wip?

That I get it done after 10+ years... and that people will like it :')

dee, i have to ask (nicely, ofc), do you have a persona in mind for wraith? for research purposes.... (definitely not me trying to ask if i could draw them)

hi babe!

i don’t think i’ve ever pictured wraith, she’s always just been a blurry silhouette in my head. it helps keep things as general as possible while writing as to allow anyone to project their image onto her!

however, i reread a few chapters and tried to approach it with a more objective/reader perspective to be able to answer you :) personally (and again, this doesnt invalidate anyone else’s persona) i saw her with this mess of unruly hair - curly and way too long as she hasnt been able to cut it in ages - and big eyes that work against her, as miguel can always just tell what she’s thinking. those are really the only defining traits i could come up with, and based on that i pulled a few faceclaims for y’all - that is, if ud would prefer to use them instead of coming up with ur own !

adria arjona // smth abt the way she looks as bix in andor really captures wraith’s essence as i imagine her :) also helps that she’s fucking gorgeous ahh

‘Our Share of Night’ is a masterpiece of supernatural horror

Mariana Enriquez’s novel, her first published in English, uses otherworldly elements to consider Argentina’s violent history

As political partisanship boiled over in the aughts, showrunner Alan Ball rolled out HBO’s “True Blood,” adapting Charlaine Harris’s pulp series about a coven of vampires — and the humans who love them — for the small screen, tapping horror tropes to plumb deeper truths surrounding xenophobia and desire. Excessive gore, spiritual angst, sexy bodies: They were all there for the audience, no holds barred. Moody yet hilarious, the show won an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

I frequently thought of “True Blood” as I read Mariana Enriquez’s masterpiece of genre mash-up, “Our Share of Night,” the Argentine writer’s first novel published in English. Lauded for her short fiction, Enriquez here slathers on supernatural conceits: How better to respond to that country’s violent history than with a shadowy sect teeming with wraiths and demons, a haunted house, a dynastic family that would sacrifice its own to maintain power? Make no mistake, though: “Our Share of Night” is a literary achievement, gorgeous and exacting in its execution.

Tall, blond and 30-something, Juan Peterson resides with his only child, Gaspar, in a spooky Buenos Aires mansion. “Our Share of Night” opens in January 1981, as the persecution of citizens has ebbed. Both man and boy are grieving the accidental death of Rosario, wife, mother and daughter of Mercedes, the stone-cold matriarch who shepherds a mystical, murderous cult known as the Order.

Born with a severe heart defect, Juan’s living on borrowed time. He’s volatile and sexually omnivorous, seducing everyone in his path, such as Rosario’s empathic half sister, Tali; his best friend, Stephen; and casual hookups. He’s also the sole medium between the Order and its deity, a ravenous Darkness that feeds on Argentines much as the fascistic government did in the 1970s. The cult has amassed a fortune, and Juan is a pawn in its game.

At the height of summer, he drives Gaspar to Puerto Reyes, near the Paraguay border, for the annual Ceremonial, a grisly ritual that mirrors the recent reign of terror. In a dazzling array of scenes, Enriquez dabbles in occult motifs, as when Tali, who reads tarot cards, is approached by a woman inquiring about her missing daughter: “Tali had seen her dead, drowned, and she’d said so. One of the many girls the military had murdered and thrown into rivers, their eyes eaten by fish, their feet tangled in vegetation: dead mermaids with bellies full of lead. Tali didn’t lie, she wouldn’t give false hope. The fathers and mothers of young people who had been disappeared by the dictatorship sought her out; they wanted, at least, to know how their children died, if their bodies were in a pit of bones or underwater or in a secret cemetery.”

Juan recognizes that Gaspar has inherited his gift, and he’s desperate to turn the boy over to the safekeeping of his brother, Luis, who had fled Argentina to escape the crackdowns. He cobbles together a network to protect Gaspar while occasionally surrendering to his inner sadist, beating and berating his son (and others) to salve the torment of the monster within. Scarred torsos, amputated limbs, wrists cut to the bone: These are the signatures of a man caught between genocide and the burdens of his fate. Juan’s a morally treacherous triumph of Enriquez’s towering imagination.

Gaspar thinks his father’s crazy. “I hope Dad dies once and for all and puts an end to all this and I can live with my uncle,” he notes, “and I don’t ever have to think again about locked rooms, voices in my head, dreams of hallways and dead people, ghost families, boxes full of eyelids. … I wish I could stop loving him, forget him.” Enriquez toggles between decades, between South America and Europe, filling in lacunae amid her characters’ biographies — Rosario narrates a lavish sequence from beyond the grave — while blurring lines that divide our world from adjacent realms. Her cinematic technique spans the globe: There’s a go-go, Carnaby Street vibe to her London flashbacks, for example.

The novel’s translator, Megan McDowell, won the National Book Award in translated literature last year for “Seven Empty Houses,” by Samanta Schweblin, a fellow Argentine whose themes dovetail with those of Enriquez. An American based in Santiago, Chile, McDowell has grasped the torch passed by luminaries such as Edith Grossman; translation, to invoke Grossman’s famous metaphor, isn’t merely copying one language over another, like tracing paper, but rather an act of creation unto itself. “Our Share of Night” teases out the nuances of Enriquez’s spirited, in-your-face style, political epic masquerading as satanic farce.

As Gaspar navigates adolescence, he feels the stir of attraction, his father’s son. “The girl let him light her cigarette,” Enriquez writes. “Gaspar looked at her legs. She had visible muscles. The lighter had illuminated her very dark eyes, lined in blue like a punk Cleopatra. … She said she thought Gaspar was a great name. One of the Magi.”

By novel’s end, Gaspar’s a Wise Man, weaving gingerly toward selfhood, fending off forces hellbent on his destruction. As the millennium approaches, he confronts his country’s brutal legacy and his affluent family’s role, the havoc colonialism has wrought in the Americas. “Our Share of Night” is not only a bloody valentine to the bonds between parent and child, but also an inspired evisceration of how the powerful prey on the powerless, often beneath the guise of democracy and freedom. As Mercedes opines: “Money … is a nation in itself.”

Perhaps he means that, and perhaps he'll allow it on the promise that she will never stuff the contents into him like a taxidermized creature of what-ifs.

"Rabban told me that they were admired." And understatement, if any; the legacy of Abulurd and Emmi runs deeper than the permafrost. Were it not for Harkonnen taint, Lankiveil might have been impeccable. Might have been many things, too, if uncle-like greed hadn't stolen the pieces away.

"She was a cunt."

Emerald hues practically glow in the moonlight that shines through her the bedroom, fixating on Feyd after her lips close once the question is voiced. He never got away from her eyes and how they easily worked to watch someone's emotions- dig for their secrets. She was practically a professional by now, logging many of her thoughts and interaction in her diary. But she had yet to master Feyd. He was still so widely unpredictable and a part of her counted on him to laugh in her face at such a whimpering and weak request.

But finally, the new Baron crawls on the mattress and lays next to her. For a long time, Irulan's gaze reminds on the ceiling letting the silence between them get comfortable before the Princess rolls to her side to look at him.

".....How many questions do I get tonight?"

Another pause is given before Irulan gathers the strength to ask him her next question. "....Is it hard for you to be here? I um...I found some writings that I could only assume were from your mother- I didn't read them- I promise." Though she certainly wanted to. "It just...really occurred to me in that moment that she was everywhere..."

The Princess swallows, fingers tracing back and forth along the rim of the floors near her chest. "When my mother died, my father got rid of everything of hers. Paintings, photographs, writings, and all of her belongings. It was only a miracle that I'd already been wearing her locket around my neck for years before she even died so my father had no idea it was hers. I miss her...I wish I had more."

Eyes stay on him, watching every features in his paled face. "....What was your mother like? Do you remember?"

As my Matt cut of Sunset Sunrise (give him an emmy cowards!) does numbers i want to add i see ppl keep saying he didnt care about colin he just felt responsible for his bud. Even if we find out colin predates them all (and thus no dadszlo og truther) i stand by this is incorrect.

Although theres a dhampir theory about guillermo (basically when a vampire and human breed) and id like to put a dose of that on colin. Cuuuuz that would work.

Anyway just straight up assuming laszlo just did all this out of kindness and curiosity ill shank anyone who says he hated colin and regretted taking it on. If laszlo was purposely cruel to colin you dont think guillermo wouldve gleefully killed him?! And if laszlo wanted out, he easily couldve left him to guillermo but he didnt.

In fact even when Laszlo was at his meanest towards baby colin (grand opening) he still doesnt yell in front of him and stops when he enters just like guillermo. He also bonds with him after getting openly frustrated and he feels bad about it. We never see him just scream at colin again even when hes burning him by shouting god.

Hes not perfect of course, cuz these losers repel perfect like stainmaster. He gets a little too stage mom supporting colin’s dreams, and he sincerely replies what every time colin does lasso guess what?.

Even tho he got a little overbearing w Nadja while Colin just wanted to sing, i think the point of it was a mix of pride and letting him be a kid. Staying up til 3am makes it hard to do all his ball sports. Asking wraiths not to look at him is just momma bear of him.

He keeps playing when Colin grows despite all the problems and he supports him when he wants to stop. He made sure colin had fuckin PLAYDATES i mean cmon!!! And he took him to the zoo to sneak in and pet animals apparently something they did regularly that didnt involve guillermo.

And laszlo, the man who pushed guillermo in a coffin ruining his lifes dream last season, actually works with Guillermo (they have tea!!!!) and lets guillermo pat his arm. Laszlo literaly used to flinch if guillermo got too close.

And sean, his beloved, who he even picked over guillermo in private school, he listens to GUILLERMO over sean and he doesnt punish colin for ruining sean’s shit repeatedly.

He seems genuinely devastated when colin forgets their year. He raised a literal baby with diapers and human food (colin said in 3 energy vamps have digestive systems mostly to annoy) for a WHOLE YEAR. Didnt even go fuck and suck!!! Only ate between playing with his boy!!!

Srsly in s2 would u think laszlo would do that for anyone at all?!?

Colin did have a shred of recall cuz he whistled their first song after saying he had no idea. His journals are what made him remember 100 years. I swear pics and vid could do the same. I desperately want to see him remember and thank laszlo and guillermo next season (if guillermo is around)

Rimfaxe is most definitely a huge sweetheart, especially when it comes to Emmie. He usually takes the form of a mastiff, but in reality is a shapeshifting shadow beast called a wraith, which can take the form of things its killed.

Albeit the scariest and probably most dangerous member of the group, he is still loved by all for his calm, friendly demeanor and his occassional attitude.

Then there are the rare, generous works that make us think back to our roots as human beings and to our shared beginnings in the universe, that lift us in their melodies, rhythms and textures, that carry us with them. The Unfolding is all of these things. An extraordinary eight-part collaboration between composer Hannah Peel (Mercury Prize and Emmy nominee) and Paraorchestra, it was made over three years in precious morsels of time around a global pandemic. These circumstances – unexpected when the collaboration began – add weight to its explorations in sound about who we are, where we came from, and who we could all be. The Unfolding also explores Paraorchestra’s progressive idea of what an orchestra should be, mixing analogue, digital and assistive instruments with a unique ensemble of disabled and non-disabled musicians to make magic happen, and accessible to all. Emma sits up ramrod-straight, book sliding off her lap to thunk onto the floor, losing her place. But she doesn’t notice. She’s glaring over her shoulder, brow furrowed and eyes dark. She whips her head to the other side, turning around to see into the darkest corner of the office.

“Emma?”

She sets her intensity on me.

“Fuck, if looks could kill.”

Her eyes widen momentarily before filling. She trips in her haste to get to me.

I catch her. “You’re still high aren’t you? My sweet Emmy.”

She buries her face in my shirt, grip tightening, and shudders.
