My least favorite things about anti- UBI discourse is always the techbros whining that "nobody is going to work anymore! People will just watch Netflix all day!" and I have 2 responses:

1) Who the fuck cares. Who the fuck cares what people do with their time! That's kind of the fucking point!

2) People aren't going to stop laboring. Housework (look, it's right there in the word!) will still need to be done. So will maintenance on our homes and personal spaces. Children will still need carers, as will the elderly and disabled. There are millions of examples of ~work~ that we do all the time, uncompensated, that won't suddenly stop because we aren't forced to sell our labor to provide corporation's profits.

I'm not surprised that what is traditionally women's work is invisible to these dipshits, but it never fails to anger me.

I have so much love for the way Saga just slips into being silly even when she's firmly on-task. She comes up with bad puns and peps herself up with positive self-talk and really seems to want to think the best of even the strangest of people, she's very emotional and deeply compassionate, and it sucks to watch her go through terrible things for essentially the crime of being kind of nosy.

then where were they in riley's parents' heads cause they hit puberty a long while ago

Watsonian/in-universe explanation: It's possible that the new emotions are most prominent during one's teenage years. While they obviously still persist for the rest of the person's life, they may be less needed on the console because of better emotional control and they're just vibing in the background - we see Bill's n Jill's Anxieties pop up at the end of IO2, so they certainly exist! Since we also spend a lot of time in Riley's head, it's possible that those other emotes are driving the parents off-screen.

Doylist/out-of-universe explanation: They (Pixar) just didn't plan for IO to be expanded in the way that it has, which personally I don't really mind LMAO this happens a lot with stories. Sequels and series can be unplanned, and I don't mind that so long as they don't contradict the internal logic they've built upon while still bringing new things to the table. It could also be that it's hard to animate all those emotions so they just defaulted to the main five again.
