I'm curious. what job would you do if money was no object (you just automatically had an income you could live comfortably on)? including work like volunteering, studying etc. please share in the tags :)

my library is undergoing renovations. it sucks, it's miserable, everybody's unhappy with admin, there's a bunch of poor decisions being made.
anyway. Saturday before the interior closed for a week.
I spot a woman wandering in the area under construction. "ma'am, I think you want the area of the library that isn't under construction!" she's looking for the bathroom. "you should put signs up so you don't have to talk to clients like they're stupid." [we have a sign up in front of the door. it is obviously an area under construction.]
she goes up and uses the bathroom, then comes back down, gets on a computer. I'm talking with a coworker. this loud, 5-7 second long bugle call text notification alarm goes off. I say, "Charming." she whips around to look at me; I'm looking off to the side.
I was tired that day.

seriously have been thinking about this all night long. call me autistic but the fact that 90% of workplaces the point is not to get your work done and then be done doing it but to instead perform an elaborate social dance in which you find something to do even when you're done doing everything you need to do in order to show your fellow workers that you, too, are Working . because you are at Work . disgusting why cant we all agree that if there is no work immediately to be done. we just dont do anything

yesterday I went to a little meeting at my local queer community center and I was admiring their bookshelves and mentioned that I work at the public library and someone said "well I bet they don't have any [LGBTQ+ books] at our library" and I was like um. yes we do. we have tons of them. half of our employees are queer leftists so they said "oh well I bet they don't in [nearby rural county]" and I was like uh once again yes they absolutely do. gay people live and work there as well
so here's a quick reminder that if you don't think your local library has enough queer centered materials you should actually check before assuming, and if you're not satisfied with their collection you should submit a request for more such books. I don't know what the political landscape of libraries looks like outside the us rn, but within the us no matter where you are, I promise you there are employees at your library fighting for inclusion and intellectual freedom and they can't win without vocal public support

Today was my last day of work at the library, so I went full Chaos Goblin, photoshopped a Goncharov DVD cover with the poster, screenshots from posts in the tag, part of the Polygon article, and some vague plot insinuations, and I left it on the shelf for whoever to find. Only one coworker knows what I did, and we're friends, so she's all for it.
For bonus points, I photoshopped the spine to look like it had a library spine label on it. Let the games begin.

Sitting at dublin airport just thinking about how excited I am to go have little evening chats with my boyfriend again and cuddle my cat Marquis and have tea from my favourite mug and feel at home again ☕️📚🐈‍⬛🤎
