THERE WAS A TIME

There was a time I would have set myself on fire, to keep others warm.

There was a time I would have crossed oceans to reach people who wouldn’t cross a stream for me.

There was a time I would try, too hard, to be seen by those, who would simply never see me.

There was a time I felt myself unworthy of a person, who could actually never be worthy of me.

But not anymore.

You see my friend, there are many ways to spend your time on this earth

but wasting it on those who are not appreciative of your attention, is a crying shame.

Use your time wisely.

Save your best efforts for those who care.

For those who would return the favour or at least appreciate your attention.

Those who truly value you.

And the rest?

If they do not see you now, they never will.

And they are missing out.

Make this the time that you realise your time is precious and should only be bestowed on those who bring you comfort, positivity, support, love or joy.

Or all of the above.

Remember, you are the main act, not a warm up,

and this, my friend, is no dress rehearsal.

This is it.

The curtain is well and truly up.

Shine on.

No matter how many people you have around you but there is still something no one knows about you

They might be there with you in your hard times

But still there was a phase that you went through alone, a fight that you did with yourself

When people judged you to be arrogant and proud,

They didn't knew that you began to hate yourself

When they called you lazy and irresponsible,

They didn't realize that you don't want to live anymore

When you sat alone for hours thinking,

They didn't knew that the reason was not love but that you were disappointed with yourself.

The time that you survived of your own...a state that you never want to be in again.

They don't know how strong you are from within,

Someone who can go through all what life offers.

They don't know that person,

The one who cried whole night,

But next morning had a big smile.

The soul that has a lot of scars,

The scars that made it wise,

That came from experiences in life.

There is always a part of the story

That we skip while narrating

Maybe love, maybe family

No matter what it was about

Even to our most loved ones

We never disclose it

But its completely fine to keep it to ourself

To this whole long story of our

There can be a paragraph

that is to be read only by us....

No one can know you completely

There is always a little about us that we hide.

When it’s love

Love is warm.

Love isn’t hot and urgent.

Love is never dangerous and always safe. Love feels like home.

You should never be worried about intruders invading your space

or having to build fences of protection

around you.

You should know if the person saying, “I love you,” knows what love is in the first place.

Love of friends should be warm as well. You don’t want “ friends” that are hot and cold

or just cold

You don’t want one-sided friends

where you’re always putting in more effort without getting anything in return.

Or friends that are expert excuse makers.

You want friends who understand your silences and your facial expressions.

Who you may be apart from for weeks and months

but pick up right where you left off.

Life will help sort out your friends in ways you couldn’t even if you wanted to. Friends will get jealous and stop talking to you.

They will escort themselves out of your life without your effort. LET THEM.

This goes for familial relationships too.

You’ll know your loved because you will feel it.

If it doesn’t feel like love, you will know it.

And you’re not obligated to have relationship with any person that you don’t want to—whether bound by blood or marriage.

A letter to myself ;

The Angsty Adventurer of 2018

Hey, you've grown wonderfully. Thank you for keeping up. All the tears were worth it, all the pain and all the wounds.

You've finished your goals of collecting more memories, of watching a hundred movies that taught you more than a hundred lessons. You rode the go-cart twice, carousel and flying fiesta like a kid. You learned how to ride a horse all by yourself. Last summer you rode the zip line, one of the best days of your life.

The adventure always awaits you. And of course adventure is more memorable if you spend it with your love ones.

Being a school girl, you did so great. Even if you didn't get the grades you expected you've tried so hard. Thank you for always trying and not giving up. Let's try not to procrastinate this 2019 okay? One day, you'll realize what you really want to do for the rest of your life. For now, let's just wait for it but still think of it okay?

You've tried to be a good daughter, sister, granddaughter, and a friend. Remember the first time you slept over at Rica Mae's house? And the second one too, at her 16th birthday. It was full of realizations and late night talks. You've been a great pain in the ass as a daughter, a sister and as a Lola's girl, but thank God they're patient and loving. I know how hard you tried to be kind. To all the problems that made you strong.

I can feel that 2019 will be crazy af. Full of memories to make, adventures and traveling to do. You've lived your life to fullest and you bloomed like the most beautiful flower in the whole universe.

This 2019, your goal is to still make memories, to do more adventures and traveling. Let's skip the 100 movies and make them a 30-day challenge, just think of how it will go and plan it more. Let's reconnect with books again, I know you missed reading a four hundred paged book and trust me they missed you too. One goal for this year is to write 100 poems instead of watching a hundred movies. Keep your phone away from you because this years is your year, taking care of your eyes is the the number one goal.

Always be kind and choose to be happy.

Less anxiety and more self love.
