The wooden clay armature, Hello dear friends tonight I wanted to present a photo that would be a real insight into the making of a life size sculpture.
This photo shows the life size wooden armature that I created for a previous statue I've presented on here called The Glamour Girl. This is what's inside of the clay in order to hold the sculpture in shape.
The aim of the armature is to take the weight of the clay and the armature must fit inside of the clay the same way that a skeleton fits inside the human body.
I usually create my armatures out of wood, steel brackets and nuts and bolts and once the armature is in place and the figures pose is correct. I then cover the armature with clay and slowly build up the figure and face and any clothes etc.
Of course when you look at the clay sculpture, you wouldn't know there was an armature inside, but there is and it's a very important factor of a sculpted project.
I'll post again very soon, I hope you're having a fine week, keep well and Take care ☺️👋

Put together the frame for the coat rack. Used some cherry and some very simple hand cut dovetails. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

"Bride chests" (caixes de núvia, in Catalan) are one of the most iconic pieces of furniture in Catalonia between the 15th and 18th centuries. They were a wooden chest that was used to store the aixovar (clothes, sheets, and personal objects that a woman brought to a marriage as part of her dowry). Depending on the bride family's means, these bride chests were more or less decorated. Many beautifully carved ones have survived until nowadays.
The bride chest in this video is exhibited in the Renaissance Museum in Molins de Rei (Barcelona Metropolitan Area, Catalonia). The chest was made between the years 1525 and 1550 by the circle of Pere Nunyes and Enrique Fernández, artists who worked in Barcelona (Catalonia's capital city). The chest's interior is decorated with a scene representing the Annunciation (when Archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that she would become pregnant and give birth to the Son of God), which is a symbol of prosperity for the wedded couple.
Video source: Museu del Renaixement de Molins de Rei. Video posted on the museum's Instagram and Facebook. Photo from the museum's website. You can see more bride chests in this blog post by the National Art Museum of Catalonia.

i made these sword wall mounts from Link’s house in BotW! i made three in total to match the three in Link’s Hateno house. the TotK ones are slightly different, featuring a rod to stand the weapon upright, rather that against the wall.*
i’m gonna be overly descriptive here for my own reference, as well as anyone else who would like to make something similar!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
here’s the specs:
mount:
h - 44 in // w(top) - 16 in // w(bottom) - 14 in
plaque:
h - 2.5 in // w - 8.5 in
- made from plywood and cut wooden sticks
- bindings used screws, wood glue, and a nail gun
- base colour using spray paint
- border colour using primer paint
- fastened with velcro temporarily
- backside is hung on wall with a wire line
i plan to add Hylian text to the plaques. probably something general rather than a specific weapon name (so i can swap swords between mounts).
also planning to replace the velcro strip with a leather strap and buckle. something adjustable for different sizes. i’ll either use rivets or simply cut two slots in the sides for the leather strap to go through.
all my swords i plan on hanging here are high-density foam/PVC pipe. so far, i have the royal claymore, great flameblade, and master sword. although the first two are larger in game, they are roughly the same size as the master sword seen in the photos. this allows me to make a one-size-fits-most build!
