i have been trying to remove the belief that the world is a lost cause from my personal system and today i was talking to my friend about how depressing the comment section on videos of girls at the gym is and how quick your notifications will get flooded by guys backing each other up if you reply to one of their comments and it got me thinking about this phenomenon in general. in any video of a girl doing anything you will get this specific sort of guy leaving the most uninventive misogynistic comment possible thats less about the women’s reaction itself - which is usually none - and more about the hope of getting other guys to interact with them so they can feel good. like this particular brand of womenhating is literally just another intricate ritual they perform like a mating dance to achieve a sense of community. a fast and infallible way they have of building interpersonal relations with other boys while asserting their heterosexuality. because hating on girls is a very hetero trait they feel comfortable in wanting to see other boys liking their comments and defending them and following them. this is the type of thing that i find really hard to look past the immediate feeling of aversion it gives me and think of a useful counter behavior but maybe theres hope. maybe there is a way of making young boys learn to have relationships with each other in ways that are not destructive so they dont grow to be this kind of guy. maybe if theyre intercepted early and maybe with enough love and patience. i just need to believe this rotten earth can change or i will die for real!
