what boundaries though, anon? please do specify. because i've heard plenty of reasons for deciding to go les4les float around many times now, and they've never expanded out of the following criteria (and anything related):

Bi Women Bad™

bi women are tainted by men

(potential) attraction to men ruins a relationship where no men are involved

bisexuals cheat (yeah, still, it's a belief)

all bisexuals are polyamorous, dirty, liars, uncommitted, etc.

bisexuals inherently can't be gold stars, which, matters for some clean purity reason i guess??

bi women "don't understand" what it is to live a life solely dedicated to women and other sapphics (+ to exclude men), and/or somehow "couldn't provide" a lesbian what they're looking for in a relationship. this has NEVER been elaborated on, especially the latter idea. and theoretically speaking, lack of experience doesn’t make for worse or lesser support.

if a bisexual identifies as butch or femme, it ruins the unnecessary safety illusion that all butch/femme relationships will be les4les without fail. it's literally just the same TERF rhetoric as the safety illusion that all WLW relationships will be AFAB4AFAB. no, really, unpack that. what makes you feel safer about knowing your partner isn't transfem, or, y'know, bisexual (also one is much more conceptual than the other, which is more materialistic. so like. yeah. what's the point.)

bi women aren't apologetic to lesbians for who they are 24/7 and therefore oppress them

bi women "are homo/lesbophobic" (see: not tolerating biphobia & harassment, using butch/femme, being dykes, using the term "sapphic", using the ⚢ symbol, sharing a history with lesbians without needed permission, daring to ask for a community of solidarity with lesbians, not exclusively dating women in their own personal lifestyle choices, etc.)

the false and generalized assumption that *all* bi women are *actually* homo/lesbophobic (see: forcing lesbians to like men, claiming comphet can't be real because it makes one bisexual instead, erasing canon lesbian characters, derailing lesbian posts, being ignorant towards lesbian issues, and/or otherwise treating lesbians really shitty and not including them where they belong, etc.) ─ including this one because for some reason, it's a one-way street and the reverse is bad-faith, bigoted, and exclusionary.

ETA: bi people don't talk enough about mspec lesbians, apparently (even though they do so pretty much all the time on twitter but ok)

keep in mind that these are all things that i have ACTUALLY SEEN being used as arguments consistently over time with my own eyes, unironically. and yes, they are always about bi women. who else would it be, pan women? other mspec women? who else could be a potential romantic/sexual partner to lesbians? who else is les4les designed to be a protective shield against?

i've never seen a good faith reason that isn't either biphobic, misogynistic, a combination of both, or two-sided in a way that acknowledges bi women can't oppress lesbians, despite how much we try to add that when we agree that lesbians don't oppress bi women either. or even anything that doesn't exclude the fact that, behaviorally, we can do anything that you can too (not regarding inherent attraction).

i guess i'll address bi4bi while i'm at it. i'm not a hypocrite, i think the same thing goes for us. lesbians can't oppress us, lesbians can do whatever another bi sapphic can, yes lesbians can be biphobic but it's not a trait they all share in one big hivemind ─ and it's certainly not enough in numbers to consider a bi separatism movement for radical purity reasons (*cough* lol lmao), etc. i've seen some people say bi4bi is acceptable because mspec hatred within the queer community is so much worse than monos get within their own rightful spaces, which, i see where they're going i guess (because we do face the highest statistics from both sides), but i disagree because in the LB dynamic neither letter has more power over the other in the real world, and certainly not enough to unbalance ourselves into inconsistency like that.

the other thing i want to say is, i don't inherently have a problem with any random les4les or bi4bi relationship picked out of a hat in a lottery. i even headcanon some of my favorite ships as such sometimes. also, factually, some fictional ships and even real relationships are one of those two, or bi4les/les4bi. as i said in the tags you're responding to, anon, these types of relationships aren't inherently flawed, especially if they form by chance and not intentional setup. in fact, those like t4t, aut4aut, ace4ace / aro4aro / aro4ace*¹, blk4blk, disabled4disabled, and the like actually have a systemic and structural reason for setting their preferences. but doing this just to avoid other sapphics? the "safety" reason is absolute bullshit, and just creates a further unnecessary divide among mono and mspec sapphics that really shouldn't be created. we're not a danger to each other, we're both in danger from everyone else ─ namely, the straights™.

hell, i would even say casually looking for a partner who shares your orientation labels is totally valid, even though the preference would have no real basis or weight if it's not in bigotry. and then if you fall in love with someone and they don't meet that expectation, so what!! who cares!! it'd be a really dumb loss of opportunity to say no due to that minor and irrelevant difference despite the fact that you both seemed ready to commit to each other as partners. that, and actively excluding harmless groups of people, making it your life mission at all costs, especially for a few twitter discourse points™, is such a waste and only hurts real people's feelings, yourself included.

you're welcome to send another ask just to mock me or say i'm wasting my time proving your point by whining about “the mean angry oppressive lesbians”, or whatever i dunno. but i just want you to ask yourself what really makes these particular "boundaries" so important to you. what makes you feel threatened? we're not forcing you to go date a bi woman right the fuck now or else you're Biphobic, i'm just asking you why you would (hypothetically, of course) reject a bi woman as a potential partner at the top of your list upon finding out she's not a lesbian. i answered why this matters so much to us, but i actually do want to know, why does this matter so much to you? just wondering.

Dave Lister: Pan. I joke about him being a bicon, but I know in my heart he's pan. Lister loves people for them, no matter their gender or sex.

Arnold Rimmer: Asexual, homoromantic. I waffle between demi and ace for Rimmer, but the way he talks about sex feels much more like he's saying what he thinks he's supposed to than anything else. I don't believe he feels sexual attraction, but I certainly don't see him as a sex-repulsed character either. His general treatment of and attraction to women is more likely an attempt at masking, and behaving the way that he feels he's expected to.

Kryten: Asexual, biromantic. I was leaning towards homoromantic, but I do believe that he loved Camille romantically so bi it is. Kryten's also just canonically sex-repulsed

anyway no one asked but: yue joins the gaang instead of becoming the moon at the end of season 1 hcs!!

- instead of giving up her life to replace tui as the moon spirit, she gives up tui’s blessing to give them the final burst of strength to escape from zhao. basically yue gives up her blue eyes, pale hair, and waterbending. she never (?) waterbends on the show, and the loss of her bending isn’t too devestating to her.

- also sokka gets a friend who can’t bend either... he deserves it.

- when the gaang leaves after the battle is over, yue decides to come with them and it’s a HUGE thing with her father and begins her main character arc, which is about whether her responsibility to her tribe and the preservation of their culture is more important than her paving her own way and also how those two things can coexist!

- she leaves her betrothal necklace on her bedside table and the last shot of the episode is just of it, lying there. 

- this got rly long so there’s more under the cut

- her traveling clothes are a thing shawl and a tunic similar to sokka’s with pants. she keeps her usual haircut but it’s tied with leather instead of the fancy hair things she used as princess. also she uses a hunting knife as a weapon

- she and sokka continue their weird not-dating-but-kind-of-dating dance for a lot of episodes and it’s generally awkward and easy comic relief. also more shots of yue blushing because she’s just so cuteeee

- there’s a scene of them stargazing where yue tells sokka the story of a pair of lovers who died and then remained best friends in all their future lives (because avatar friendships enduring through lifetimes and also friendship being just as important as romantic relationships)

- yue becomes friends with EVERYONE they meet IMMEDIATELY and everyone falls in love with her because she’s sweet and pretty and has a nice laugh.

- there’s a filler episode that’s just sokka and yue going shopping together and trying on lots of jewlery but the running gag is that yue keeps getting distracted with talking to other people and definitely flirting with every girl she runs into and sokka is always distracted with a pair of earrings or a set of rings and doesn’t notice. finally some random guy is like ‘man your girlfriend has been flirting with my sister this whole time... are you aware.” and sokka is immeditaly like ShE’s NoT mY GiRLfRiEnD and then like wait what

- so maybe yue is a lesbian. sokka is very distressed that he’s been trying to court someone who’s not interested so he talks with katara while she’s sewing or something and he’s like is yue gay?? and katara is like oh i don’t know. lots of people we know are queer. sokka: WHO??? katara: well, zuko. suki. sokka: ZUKO??? SUKI??? and this is when katara realizes her brother’s gaydar is nonexistent. 

- yue tries being a vegetarian (to be nice to aang) but thinks nuts are gross so she and sokka go on hunting trips together. she’s Very Good at archery.

- also the episode where they watch toph wrestle?? she and sokka are SO on her side. it made me angry in the show that sokka wasn’t on her side but yue would convince him very quickly and they are very loud together.

- she also stays to talk to toph on the estate because she doesn’t look as suspect as the rest of the gaang so the guards don’t kick her out immediately (read: she’s good at conforming to elitist ideas of how people r meant to act and passes the rich kid test). she and toph sit in the garden and watch the moon (because the moon symbolizes yue’s perceived failure to sacrifice herself to save her tribe) and talk about how sometimes to live as yourself you have to skirt your responsibilities to your family. yue leaves a few hours later firmly friends with toph.

- she continues to be the one firmly on toph’s side in the toph/katara disputes that are in the first few episodes with toph. katara can’t hold it against her though because literally who could hold a grudge against yue she’s so incredible

- (ok we’re skipping a lot of time here bc i frankly do not remember everything that happened in book 2) her ba sing se tale is her uhhh going to the market to buy herself an iced tea because she’s gay and just having a good time being a no one. a girl she runs into at the cafe asks her to go on a walk around the city with her and it’s very sweet but yue does Not know this is a date so when the girl gives her a kiss she gets blushy and says something dumb

- also at the end of another episode we have a short scene of yue on the roof of their house in the upper ring, staring at the moon and touching the place on her neck where her betrothal necklace isn’t. then the camera switches to zuko, on the other side of the city, looking at the same moon and absently running his fingers through his hair where his topknot used to be

- yue and jet hate each other but yue still advocates for him because she sees how he’s been hurt and thinks that he deserves a second chance. i don’t know the funeral traditions for any of the nations but she does a quick northern water tribe blessing over his body before they run away.

- yue and mai are like.. yes we r gay..... yes we do flirt with each other while fighting sometimes.... yes we r the two knife fighters.. yes we are ALSO narrative foils

- yue looks SO GOOD in fire nation clothes but she keeps her usual hairdo because she deserves it. the fire nation propaganda makes her very angry, as does the institutionalized homophobia. she starts arguing with some guy over it and katara is ready to back her up and start fucking screaming and get arrested and sokka is like.. now. now is when i should talk to her.

- there’s a filler episode where toph and yue rob a bunch of fire nation soldiers and when they get caught (after a While of these robberies) they get out of it by playing the ‘dumb rich kids’ card and run away with jewelry like.. dripping off their hands. katara makes them sell all of it except a choker necklace yue keeps that looks like a betrothal necklace but instead has an etching of a bird flying away.

- skipping again bc this is getting rly long. when zuko joins the gaang he and yue have a tentative conversation about their relationships to their nations and he’s like.. idk sounds like you needed to leave? that wasn’t an environment that you can thrive in. and she’s like but i can change it! i need to be there to change it, and i left. and he’s like well no. some things are just toxic. i went back to my nation and it was terrible. and she’s like i have a responsibility to my PEOPLE and gets mad at him and she and katara r like angry at zuko team. 

- yue’s life changing field trip with zuko is just them leaving on appa to go to a market and be normal teenagers. they both viewed each other as Fire Prince and Water Tribe Princess, but this lets them open up and realize concretely that that’s not all that they are. 

- zuko apologizes for implying that the nwt was irreparable and explains that the fire palace wasn’t something he could fix and that trying just hurt him more. yue says that part of the reason she was angry with him was because he was right and that she felt so much more herself when she was away from her home. they finally reach the conclusion together that they have to become themselves before they can hope to change their cultures for the better.

- yue comes along to boiling rock but is v much background to zukka bromance. she hangs out with suki some (lots more yue blushing oc bc suki is BUFF) and does some dumb gay fighting with mai but they’re both bad at it because yue is busy mooning over suki and mai is busy protecting ty lee.

Part 2 of my tma face hcs made via Potato Lord's picrew bc i dont wanna draw them. My ideas are ever changing and therefore not consistent, even the sasha one i made last time feels off now, i just cant really picture her idk.

Shes bi and shes just a cool person. Her denim jacket does have patches but its not a full on battle jacket. Idk the mole just felt right. I do think she wears beanies too (as someone who wears one 24/7). He hair has a red to it as well wether dyed or like its just like that. She also wears a tiny bit of makeup, nothing all out, the natural look(tm) and like eye liner.

- When they were kids Edgeworth slept over at Phoenix's house a couple times which is where he was introduced to ~video games~. It's so hard to get him to admit it but he loves games and always will. He takes a Nintendo DS with him on business trips so he can play the 2008 Steel Samurai game when he's had a hard day. He and Phoenix rely on each other to beat Zelda games. Phoenix is better at the puzzles and temples and Miles is...oddly enough incredible at combat and boss fights. (Never play smash bros with him he knows every combo).

- Miles thought he hated physical touch until he became involved with Phoenix and suddenly realized how touch starved he is. He's still uncomfy with PDA but when they're alone he is the biggest cuddle bug and no one can convince me otherwise.

-Phoenix had to get surgery once and when he came out of anesthesia this happened https://youtu.be/DiviQfLyQX4 Miles absolutely will not let him live it down

-When Phoenix first adopted Trucy she had a hard time sleeping alone because she was afraid that Phoenix would be gone when she woke up and another father would have left her. Phoenix would always let her sleep on his chest so she wouldn't get lonely or scared. Eventually her fears subside for the most part but Phoenix is always happy to let her sleep with him if she has a nightmare.

-Okay I don't have a specific headcannon for this but like...what happened to Miles' mom???

-Phoenix once had a terrible, vivid nightmare that Kristoff kidnapped and tortured Miles and Trucy and he wasn't able to save them. He woke up sobbing and drenched in sweat. After Miles was able to comfort him he gets a warm washcloth and gently cleans all the dried sweat off Phoenix. It's so tender and quietly intimate and Phoenix weeps. His head is in Miles' lap as he cleans Phoenix so he'll be more comfortable and every time Phoenix thinks about it he cries because he loves that man so much.

-Miles is a casual birdwatcher.

-Every thanksgiving Phoenix and Trucy watch a TERRIBLE comedy together and eat cheese whiz on whatever is in their pantry.

"I'm thankful for this fake cheese". "and I'm thankful I didn't make this movie!"

-Phoenix and Maya always spend the anniversary of Mia's death together. They swap stories about her, even if they've already heard them before. Mia always feel especially close to them on those days.

-Phoenix and Maya have matching bi pride pins.

-Phoenix likes to eat froot loops with grape juice instead of milk. He enjoys the horrified looks he gets from his friends.

LITERALLY I HAD SOME OF THESE IDEAS BEFORE TOO!!!! like the concept of phoenix and edgeworth (and maybe larry too but he’s on thin ice) having sleepovers when they were little is something i think about an unhealthy amount.... AND MILES BEING CUDDLY TOO!!! i think the concept of him learning to enjoy stuff like snuggling with his husband and playing video games is so so precious and important because it shows how much he’s growing now that mvk isn’t around to emotionally stunt him. AND THE BIRDWATCHING!!! i talked to my partner about this and we agreed that he would TOTALLY get really into that shit after he and phoenix retired. like overall both of their lives have been a shitshow, they’ve earned the right to be boring for a change fjdnfd

as for miles’ mom, the only ideas i have for that are kinda boring and generic: she probably either died when miles was young (during childbirth or something) or left gregory shortly after miles was born. i’m leaning towards the death thing though because like. who in their right mind would leave gregory edgeworth?? that man is a catch and a half.

man. fucking.. “man wakes up after surgery and hits on his wife”... that would totally be something phoenix would do, specifically the “holy shit i hit the jackpot” kind of stuff. he just loves his husband! and he thinks he’s hot!! he is such a good partner and he’d be totally respectful of miles’ boundaries and stuff and they would take SUCH GOOD CARE OF EACH OTHER!!!! the part about miles comforting him after a nightmare... god tier. he’s returning the favor from when phoenix would comfort him for years when his recurring nightmare reared its ugly head again. 

and YES PHOENIX AND MAYA BISEXUAL MLM/WLW SOLIDARITY. their friendship is so so important and it makes perfect sense that they would spend the anniversary of mia’s death together since she’s the reason they even met in the first place... they’re practically siblings in my eyes, big brother/little sister energy coming off of these two big time.

i also think phoenix would indeed be a fantastic dad but i can’t really say much more about it since i haven’t played apollo justice and don’t really know a ton about trucy so. but their father-daughter dynamic seems great from the stuff i’ve absorbed. also the dialogue for them on thanksgiving? a+ perfect spot-on, love it. phoenix would absolutely have the Worst taste in food so the cheese whiz and froot loops with grape juice feels so canon to me.

- Start of s1 he was 15 and the oldest, at around s14 he’s like 23

- big brother to Nya and Lloyd

- has definitely crushed on all of the og ninja ATLEAST once

- him and skylor aren’t dating sorry guys :( they are still really good friends and Kai sometimes drops buy to help with the noodle shop

- they never really dated to begin with, sure they had crushes on eachother but it was more of a middle school thing where it wasn’t meant to last long. They were both busy with there jobs and they couldn’t really properly handle a long distance relationship. So they decided to be friends

- Kai has a hard time getting into platonic or romantic relationships, it took him months after the pilot to start even warming up to the other ninja. He didn’t have any friends before becoming a ninja so he’s not really good at social interaction. He’s afraid of the commitment and what would happen if either him or the other person won’t be there anymore.

- that being said this fucker really do be co dependent

- he has a bunch of mutual like friends outside of the ninja, there not really close but there fun to talk to. He mostly meets them through his volunteer work

Hobbies:

- Kai still continues on being a blacksmith and I will DIE ON THIS HILL

- he also likes to make glass statues

- does most of the chores around the house

- spends most of his free time in ninjago city volunteering or hanging out with skylor

- ever sense he left his village he felt kind of isolated from the rest of the world and wanted to try to be apart of a community again, which is why he volunteers so much

- sometimes helps Zane cook

- he only really likes one video game, it was the first game that introduced him to technology and what allowed for him and jay to bond for the first time. Other then that doesn’t really like video games.

- surprisingly good writer, he has a bunch of diaries from his time as a ninja

- lost his left eye during his childhood and has a glass eye instead

aaarrrggg i hate that radfem bs has caused me to still associate butch and femme with being lesbian only terms (even though i KNOW they’re not) and thus making me associate both of them with being women, even though i KNOW theyre historically not. its so hard to unlearn???

I relate to my cis female peers as someone who’s only started socially transitioning in recent years, I relate to their issues as someone who doesn’t pass well, I relate to transmascs in terms of wanting to be seen as more masculine, in wanting to physically transition, i relate to trans mlm in terms of sexuality, i relate to lesbians/wlw in terms of sexuality too! some of the best comfort and solidarity ive found is in amab enbies and even some transfems when it comes to comfort and gender expression. the two amab demiguys i know make me feel comfortable exploring masculinity because i feel safe around them BECAUSE they’re not cis, and like, i can be ‘one of the guys’ with them without having to be A GUY, and i relate so so so hard to gnc guys or amab enbies when it comes to presentation. i almost want to transition JUST so i can reembrace femininity in a masculine way.

i dunno, i feel this insane pressure outside of the queer community to either be as masc as possible to pass and be taken seriously, and that’s gotta be at least partially due to the way radfem bs has spread, especially here in the uk.

i wanna be read as masc, i wanna be read as fem, i wanna be incomprehensible! I wanna wear men’s shirts and t shirts and polo shirts with a skirt because i can!! because skirts are fun and cute and i enjoy wearing them. i really do wish i was amab because it would be so much easier to present the way i want to, I think, but then again, i don’t have bottom dysphoria, not really.

all this changes though, really i might just be genderfluid, but i hate the binary connotations of that too. so many enby words are stolen or defined in terms of binary gender: being bigender to most means being male or female, being genderfluid means being fluid between them, being nonbinary is being not male or female, when people equate being nonbinary to being genderless it kills me because I am not binary! but i am not genderless! my gender is here and present and part of me and part of my relation with the world around me and with other people and part of my sexuality and orientation

i dunno, this is turning into a big queer rant. this isn’t me trying to shove labels onto myself, I’m fine with rejecting them if that’s what’s needed - i don’t define my sexuality any further than queer even though hypothetically i could probably id as bi or pan or any mspec label, but I choose not to because being QUEER is my orientation. perhaps my gender as well (i do id as genderqueer as well as enby) but i want to really truly understand my gender AS queer, rather than just brush it off as queer because I cannot define it to myself or understand it. i want to understand my relation to the world around me and to other queer people.

so am I butch? am I femme? maybe it changes? is that allowed to change from day to day? my gender doesn’t FEEL like it changes but that presentation does, maybe! maybe I need to try new pronouns, but using she/her like i want to is hard when i associate it with misgendering and failing to prove myself as trans enough to cis people.

i wanna be masc with women and fem with men, but the latter is hard due to fears that come from experiences with misogyny. a lot of cis men ARE scary to me - I’m an 18 year old afab for fucks sake. i wish i could have that re-embraced femininity, but I’m not flat when i bind or build masc or tall or fuckin. anything! and hormones aren’t an option yet because a lot of my mental health is too unstable, the nhs is in shambles, and I don’t have money. i can’t embrace that yet unless im in the right circles, with the right people, and i can’t be that in society, I don’t trust it. I don’t know if I wanna dress fem and have people see me as masc or fem, i don’t know what pronouns i want them to use, i dunno man!!!

i wanna reach out to older queer people but again its hard, we’re in lockdown, i don’t live somewhere with a big queer community, i’m not a fan of bars and such and there’s not any in my town so i’d have to travel a bit, i wish i could just feel at home!!! i wanna be feminine without being female but also without being male, at least not fully male! I’m not male, i have this connection to femininity and it doesn’t feel male to me, I don’t want to be included in explicitly male or explicitly female spaces, I wanna be with everyone or no one, i dunno

again, i wish butch and femme didnt feel so gendered to me personally, and that’s not just this site but also what ive grown up with, my mum used to always say i was a wannabe ‘butch lezza’ whenever i was trying to get her to take my NONBINARY identity seriously and I’m not that! not because it’s bad to be, but because that’s just not me. I’m not a wlw, I’m not even sure on my attraction to women, or to men, or to anyone, I’m just attracted to queerness, and i dunno it’s hard. being ‘butch’ to me, somewhat, still means wlw, even though it’s not true, and i hate how radfem bs has ruined the word for me. i wish i could understand my identity in terms of being butch or femme, or whatever i am, and i wish those words weren’t tainted for me in the first place. i guess all of us are just ‘failed women’ in the eyes of society, huh.

characters who are feminine, but still explicitly male, or have some relation with masculinity, or are fluid between it, or who return to masculinity as a default give me so much euphoria just to witness. I’m in desperate need of a haircut and i don’t know whether to grow it out properly again or cut it short
