"YOU betrayed me last season, so i don't love YOU right now!"
and then she punched pearl.
i just want to remind everybody that the only season gem has played in has been secret life. secret life, in which if you punched a player, they lost a heart from their healthbar, something valuable and incredibly difficult to re-obtain. punching somebody is an act of great disrespect and detestation.
so that wasn't just a punch. not with that context. no, that was was an act of pure, unadulterated hatred.

gem dying in wild life due to a total collapse of her attempt to maintain control of everything is a fitting conclusion to the thematic through line of her wild life character vs it's a real shame that she died in the finale of a pvp series to a randomly spawned mob

I gotta appreciate how Grian is such a vengeful player.
Most people have maybe one kill they got when deliberately trying to avenge themselves. There's a fair bit of kill swapping in LimL, but only the Clockers really feel like theyre committing to revenge. Pearl has a good number of revenge kills but only on her teammates behalf: killing Joel in LL after he boogey killed Scott, endcrystalling Martyn in WL after he endcrystalled her whole team, and killing Bdubs and Martyn (by attacking Cleo) in DL after they killed her dogs.
Grian on the other hand is always so down to avenge specifically himself. In WL alone there's: killing Cleo after they set Mumbo on him and then hunting zombie Mumbo (while calling him a traitor), his slow and inevitable vengeance on Jimmy (and Lizzie, and almost Scar too). But Grian doesn't do it for his teammates. He wanted Jimmy dead for killing him with his own tnt launcher, not for killing Mumbo in the same shot, not for killing Skizz with a different tnt minecart later. And Tango eliminating Skizz was only Skizz's reason for wanting to kill Tango in the superpowers episode, Grian wanted him dead primarily because he was green and hard to kill.
He doesnt shy away from deliberately eliminating people. In LL he kills both Jimmy and Mumbo as the first permakills of the season in retaliation for them attacking him. No mercy, unlike other people who try and preserve the reds. Technically he also eliminates Bdubs in LL as revenge for killing Lizzie but he talks about it as a punishment for betraying his team, the red alliance, not over her death. Over betraying him.
There are a few people who have a reputation that you don't want to cross them, but Grian lives up to it like no other.

little wip i’ve been working on since gem’s hardcore ep dropped! basically wl angst lol
Gem wasn’t sure why she ended up back on her hardcore world. maybe it was something about the quiet. there was a calming nature to the solitude, no screaming, no need to look out for traps. only the quiet gossip of her villagers as they went about their days.
she’d missed her villagers, she realized. back on Hermitcraft and other SMPs she’d lived on, the player consensus was that they were too much trouble - their pathing and career choice were too much for all but the most dedicated players to work with. she’d had several conversations with Impulse about his woes whilst working with them over the past two seasons.
she hated to think about what he was doing now.
but if there’s anything Gem had learned from her travels, it was that there was something comforting in predictability. with her villagers, the conversations were easy - “you’d never believe what x said while you were gone” - and their trust was similarly easily won. she would do anything to make sure she kept it.
above all though, she decided, it was the privacy that she valued the most. the villagers didn’t come up to her out of the blue, and when she was in the mines she could pretend there was nothing more important than the deepslate she was collecting.
she tried not to think about what happened after secret life. the way she remembered it all, recurring nightmares of a chase waking her every night. the way she wanted so bad to just move on like everyone else — moving to the new season, basing at magic mountain. she couldn’t help the way she tried to distance herself from a certain pair of blue eyes, asking her what was wrong. the way she could see them turn red whenever the light glinted just the right way. the confused glances sent her way whenever she brought up songwriting or the mounders or god forbid the camel. she couldn’t help but confront Scar one night, hoping someone remembered. the tears that formed in her eyes before she could even get the words out. the silence was definitely better.
the wind bit through her clothes as she climbed back up the long staircase. It was the kind of wind that took your breath away, and Gem welcomed the numbing effect. the scars of six deaths had made their home on her body in the past few days, but the cold had helped take the edge off. it dulled the burn of lava, the aching left by explosions. only the wounds left by the vex’s knives continued to bother her — she should’ve expected it, last deaths always stuck around longer — but she suspected it had something to do with how their icy blades were the last to break in her torso.
“kill the vex or you’ll be down a teammate”. she’d yelled a few moments before the hit that would take her out. she’d forgiven Joel for overlooking the little furies almost instantly - it hadn’t suited her to hold grudges after all. she was almost glad she hadn’t made it to the final moments this time. she heard he’d won a few days after she’d left the arena. she couldn’t bear staying to watch the final battle. she just hoped that Joel’s memories wouldn’t treat him like they had Scar.
she’d head back eventually. she always did. she’d say her congratulations and go on with collaborations and build her base up once more. eventually. for now though, she’d lose herself in the biggest project of this world yet and listen to her villagers heap praise on her walls and dog for keeping them safe while she was gone.
she wasn’t quite sure why she couldn’t look them in the eyes.
Pearl wasn’t sure why she ended up back on Hermitcraft. maybe it was something to do with the fact she couldn’t stand being left alone.

i will never understand people criticising life series mechanics/choices like? did you not have fun? did you not enjoy the chaos and watching people hunt someone down/be hunted down by something else? like idk some of the stuff in life series i find the most fun to watch i go online/to fandom spaces after and see the most criticism for and i just. dont understand. do you not enjoy the series for what it is? does it have to be perfectly balanced to be fun for you all?

Silly little WL au of mine,,,,
Against all odds, PICS stay together. Or, at least, the GGGs do - Impulse is the one to team with Gem and Joel. He leaves around Session 2.
It's episode 9. The final confrontation. They're all on red - most of the other teams have already fallen, aside from a few stragglers, and it's the GGGS vs Gem, Joel and Impulse ("GIJ", they've affectionately dubbed themselves, so their catchphrase could be "the gij's up!").
"Pearl," Gem pleads. "Please. Come with me! We can be Soup Group again! Well — plus Joel, but... Soup Group! Come on. Don't you remember Murder Camel? We can destroy those guys! Please. You don't need them. Let me save you." "Oh, Gem..." Pearl's eyes soften, as she strides forward, lowering her sword to cup Gem's cheek in her hand. The deer-hybrid leans into the wolf's touch. A deer trying to save a wolf. How pathetic. Gem gasps as she feels Pearl slot a sword between her ribs. The fawn looks up, horrified, her face almost betraying betrayal... though, that would be the wrong term, because betrayal required them being allies in the first place! They'd never been allies. Let alone friends. "You want to save me? Please. I don't need saving. I'm right where I want to be." Pearl was sick of people telling her who she should be with - what she should want, do, think, be. She knew exactly what she wanted. She wanted Cleo. She wanted Scott. And she wanted this deer to rot. She allowed Gem's corpse to fall to the ground with a cold smirk. Nothing but roadkill. Then, she stepped back to her real team, her real friends, her darling partners. Gem was an absolute idiot if she thought she'd betray them. Pearl gave Cleo a peck on her forehead above her forebrow's stitch, and kisses Scott's star-littered nose. Affectionately, Scott wiped the blood off her cheeks with his thumb, like she'd gotten a bit messy eating an ice cream cone and hadn't just killed a rogue roe. She giggled. "Guess the gig's up for the gijs," Pearl couldn't help but mock the dead doe, and Cleo rolled her eyes teasingly at her pun as the two mollycoddled. "The gijs are almost up. Now, come on," Cleo pulled Pearl's sword out of Gem's forgotten corpse while Scott and Pearl were peppering each other with nose-kisses like it was a competition — was it rude of them to be bill and cooing in front of Gem's dead body? Probably!— and offered the weapon to Pearl in the same way a queen might offer a knight back their blade. Once, Cleo might have hesitated to hand her a weapon, but not anymore. Running a blade through each other's backs now would be like running a blade through their own. "We've got an Impulse to catch."

SLAMS DOOR OPEN hello!!! I hear you're looking for lil ficlet ideas!!
I would love to see your take on jimmy and grians relationship 👀👀👀 I simply wish there was more content of them in the world (shippy or non-shippy!!)
If u would like any additional prompts maybe the aftermath of grian taking jimmy out in wildlife????
No pressure at all if the thought doesnt appeal to you, saluting you so much as a fellow traveller on the writing strugglebus right now. GOOD LUCK!!! <3
Hi Theo!! Welcome in, please have a seat! :D
as for Jimmy & (/) Grian I totally agree, I love their dynamic so much!! Time to be the change we want to see in the world XD
Take my hand, we will get through this rough patch together!! <3333
I haven't actually finished either of their WL POVs (Blasphemous as a self-proclaimed Jimmy Main, I know) so IDK how well I can touch on that one, but I did see that clip of Grian joining their phasmo thing late that's floating around and I lost my mind. Have this modern au?? Phasmo au??? IDK but here you go!
Grian sank deeper into the couch cushions, watching some rerun of an ancient Top Gear episode on the TV in front of him. The sound is so low it might as well be muted in favor of listening to Jimmy off in the kitchen, rummaging around in cupboards as they waited for Joel to arrive.
On the screen, Hammond spun out just in time for Jimmy's voice to peak, some offended crescendo about the story he was telling. Something about someone at work.
For the first time in days, Grian felt his lungs fill, untrapped by the vice of panic or stress. He made some sort of noise in response to Jimmy asking if he could believe all of that. He tried to focus on the words, knowing that Jimmy would be more offended at him not listening than he had been at the lady in his story, but relaxation was stealing over him in waves, pulling the steel and the energy from his limbs the longer he sat there.
Jimmy's voice was much closer when he snorted, placing down a mug on the table in front of Grian. He didn't remember telling him what he wanted in his tea, but the label that spun in front of them was his favorite brew. Warmth steeped through him.
"Budge up," Jimmy said, the words floating down through the syrup of Grian's mind instead of crashing through and jarring him back to consciousness. He shuffled back into a mostly upright position, "are you falling asleep on me?"
“No,”Grian scoffed, leaving Jimmy more than enough time to settle in before he slid sideways again so that he could lean heavily on Jimmy’s shoulder. He hooked a grin up at him. “Now I’m falling asleep on you.”
“You utter-I'm not that boring, am I?” Jimmy groused, reaching for the remote. Grian kicked at the coffee table with his foot, scooting it enough that the remote was out of reach.
“As boring as you always are,” Grian said, if only because he couldn’t seem to untangle the emotions caught in the warm mixture in his chest, at least not in a way where he could pull them apart and explain them to Jimmy. “Maybe I’m just tired,” he said, trying to call up a haughty tone, “maybe it’s got nothing to do with you.”
Jimmy grumbled something more under his breath, but shifted so that Grian was resting comfortably at his side, instead of just smushed against him.
"Go on, then,” Jimmy said, settling back against the armrest so they were both halfway to horizontal. “Joel can wake us up when he gets here.”
Grian hid a smile against Jimmy’s shoulder.
“Glad you see things my way.”
#wix writes#fic: prompt fills#<- trying to be more organized lmao it's a losing battle I'm sorry#hermitshipping#solidarian#or is it#solidrian#I've seen both get used idk#something something the inherent intimacy of being able to relax around someone enough to fall asleep something something...#Look I have never once been able to fall asleep when something is boring me to tears. It's just painful. HOWEVER.#on multiple occasions I have been so relaxed listening to someone I love talk that I get Dozy. Those tend to be the best naps EVER#anyway this could be read as just buds or shippy but I 100% wrote it as trending towards shippy lmao#ty for sending this in theo!!! I had so much fun writing it even though writing short fills is so much harder than I remember it being lol#also wrt my thoughts on Grian taking out Jimmy in WL... ooh it's so juicy I just didnt have the capacity to keep up w them at the end there#I watched Gem all the way through and then swapped over to Joel's finale and those are the episodes I've watched. And I switched to Joel's#before I even knew he was the winner I just wanted to follow the Family to the end lol#but it means I have no context for the bunker explosion aside from like. the inherent homoeroticism of making sure someone knows you're the#reason they're going out of the series etc.#+ the fact that it does kind of feel like Lizzie was there as an afterthought. Grian's focus was on Jimmy and ending Jimmy's series#I could twist that in so many directions. but I would have to watch the episodes first ToT#they're on my list though so... mayhap eventually!!#why are my tags longer than the fic atp anyway <333333
