Jerk Ford AU: The Love Pendant

Mabel this time around hadn’t just taken the love potions from the Love God- he saw that although misguided, her love for other people and desire to make sure everyone was loved was genuine, so he gave her a gift in the form of a "Love Pendant".

It did look a little tacky, a clunky heart carved out of what could be crystal or glass, it was hard to tell, and on a thin gold chain long enough that it could be looped over anyone's head and onto the neck, no clasps needed.

If you placed the love pendant on someone, it would glow in a specific colour and intensity based on how the recipient felt about the bestower. As explained below;

Red: Romantic

Blue: Self (if placed on self)

Green: Friendship

Gold: Family

White: Apathy (Anti-Love)

Black: Hatred

The intensity of the glow shows how strong that love is: the light will be dim if there isn’t a lot or if its weak/flimsy, but the light will be brighter and more intense if there is a lot of that love, and/or if its a very strong love that won’t waver. 

Mabel tests it out by first placing it on Soos, who is her cousin and also frequent companion to her and Dipper- the pendant glows a strong green, with intense flickers of gold, reminding her of holiday trees.

She then tries it on Grunkle Stan - the opposite of Soos, it glows gold with flecks of green, reminding her of holiday lights.

And of course, her brother Dipper - she’s not surprised, but absolutely delighted nonetheless, to see that it swirls in equal parts gold and green, glowing so bright it almost hurts her eyes. And when he puts the pendant on her? Exactly the same.

Then "The Author of the Journals" her Grunkles brother, stumbles out of the interdimensional portal they had no idea was in the basement they also didn't know about. And he's an unrepentant jerk.

Grunkle Stan kept trying to tell both of them that he swore up and down that Great Uncle Ford loved them, he really did, but he's always had a hard time showing people love, even saying it was a Herculean task for him.

Dipper vehemently refused to believe it. Of course he did, once he decided how he felt about someone or something it wasn’t easy to make him change his mind. And Great Uncle Ford wrote those Journals that Dipper hated because of how contradictory and unhelpful they were, and he’d spent the majority of the summer trying to correct them with proper observations.

Mabel? She didn’t appreciate Fords abrasiveness any more than anyone else, but… was there really something else there? She knew her Grunkle Stan was a nice and loving guy and all, but would he really dedicate thirty whole years of his life trying to bring back someone who was only a jerk?

He’d decided to take his grudge into his own hands, and has been actively ambushing their Great Uncle Ford with sports equipment, home decor, and even his bare hands, ever since. Not that it seems bother said Great Uncle very much, because he’s made of surprisingly strong stuff, and he’s waved off all of Dippers attempts at violence. 

One afternoon Mabel catches him dead asleep on the couch again.

Grunkle Stan told her and Dipper that his brother didn’t get as much sleep as he should of during the thirty years he was gone- he was in dangerous places a lot and there were things that could hurt you if you weren’t vigilant enough, and that’s why Ford slept so much now that he was back. As long as you didn’t get too close to him, it was almost impossible to wake him up once he was down.

Mabel considers putting the Love Pendant on him - the recipient didn't need to be conscious, because it connected to feelings and not conscious thoughts.

Then she remembers last time he passed out on the couch Dipper tried hitting him with a wiffleball bat. Even unconscious, Ford caught the bat before it could hit him, and tossed it across the living room with enough force to go straight through a window. And it was a plastic bat.

Grunkle Stan's brother maybe should have told his family that he's fallen asleep in active war zones before, and had still managed to defend himself. Now there's a broken window.

Okay... so maybe putting the pendant on him could wait.

It would be post-canon for WOWP and around s2 for Cobra Kai. Mostly inspired by me realizing that they have similar enough surnames to be related somehow 😂

This is not exactly a prompt, but, more of an idea... do you guys know @artzychic27 's @so-were-heroes 's AU where all musical characters are around the same age, go to the same class and get a miraculous?

Imagine something like that... but with Original Disney Channel series protagonists! Like, Teddy from Good Luck Charlie, Liv and Maddie, K.C. Cooper, Harley Diaz (Stuck in the Middle), Cyd and Shelby (Best friends whenever), Paige and Frankie (Bizaardvark), Maya and Riley (Girl Meets World, although, maybe this one isn't a good idea).

And the ones from the older generation (Miley Stuart, Alex Russo and Zack and Cody) could be teachers.

If there isn't enough cast, maybe, thrown even some Nicklodeons shows there too: Drake and Josh, Icarly, Victorious, Every Witch Way, the Thudermans, Haunted Hatwhays, 100 things to do, and so on... (although, maybe this one deserve it's own AU).

I don't know, I just think it would be neat.

"The Love Boat" - this would be such a cool au idea it is based on the show Love Boat which tells the story of the passengers and crew members (helps passengers find love or fix their relationship)

Claw Machine - so this is a little based on the scene in the squid game where he pays the kid to try and get something from the claw machine but also one of my friends has this "queen of the claw machine" shirt because she always gets things from the claw machine every time she said the employees gave it to her (I just thought this could make a cute idea for a fic)

13 going on 30 - I was going to do this one myself but I don't want to anymore, anyways this would be such a cute idea. based on the movie is where this came from, I also have a board I made if anyone wants to see it for pic inspo

Supermarket - I think there's a show about this? I have no idea but I felt it gave the office vibes but in a supermarket

Storm Chaser - I got this idea when my mom was driving me home from work and there was a storm coming, could also be inspired or related to the movie Twister

Dear Diary - imagine you go to a thrift store and find an old diary, you start reading it, all the entries. But then the pages turn blank. your determined to find who owns the diary (this could be like horror/mystery)

or it could be romance and the diary has love notes addressed to the person reading, despite them not knowing who the writer is

Mind reader - in a world where soulmates can receive each other's thoughts, the character has been getting thoughts of someone else. They try to find the person whose thoughts they are getting

or one day the thoughts get scary thinking they need help or the person is in danger and the other tries to find and save them

Breakfast Club au - based on the movie this would be so amazing omg (about a group of kids who all have differences and have detention together, one is a popular girl, the other is a nerd, etc.)

The Goonies Au - is one of my all-time favorite movies I love it so much and would be such a good au idea

Freaky Friday - the reader gets stuck in one of the triplet's bodies or vice versa (could also be kinda like the drama switched which is good btw definitely recommend it) you could add something like they have till midnight to switch back or like in switched it was something with moon phases

Assassin/ hitman - what happens when you're hired to kill someone and end up getting so close you fall in love with your target?

Escape room - you are stuck in an escape room with one of the triplets or vice versa, trying to escape it takes a sinister turn when you soon realize they planned it all (I'm a sucker for thrillers okay...)

Missing number - your loved one died and you keep texting their number because you miss them (even though it's not in service anymore) until one day they reply back

Secret Spy - You are the child of a very high authority figure (government official maybe?) you are certain someone is spying on you at school. One day there is a new student who you become friends with, but what happens when you start to suspect they are the one spying on you

Offline - you've been texting with your online friend for weeks now, getting super close and you guys are planning to meet soon. When one day they mysteriously go offline. Not answering your calls or texts, you begin to get worried.

Little artist - your child has been drawing and painting pictures ever since they were young, one day they come to you with a family portrait. They drew a little family, you laugh at first when you see the drawing of a man labeled "daddy" ( or mommy) knowing your child doesn't know their father. Until you look a little closer and it looks like the famous influencer (one of the triplets or vice versa)

TBHK - there's a ghost stuck in the girl's bathroom on the third floor of your school (based on the anime toilet-bound Hanako) you heard he has magic powers

Find my killer - you're a college student (or vice versa) taking a criminology class, for your final project you have to investigate and try to solve a cold case. you learn that the case has been unsolved for years, and the person is deemed deceased. But as you investigate you start to wonder whether there is more than meets the eye?

Laundry mat - your washer and dryer has been acting up so you go to your local laundry mat, but every time you get your clothes out of the dryer there is always a piece of clothing missing. Your start to suspect people of stealing your clothes when you notice someone wearing your hoodie. (could be cute vice versa)

Payphone - you're stranded. but you see a payphone in the middle of nowhere, however none of the numbers work. You see a number scratched into the glass of the phone booth. You call it and someone picks up. (could be horror/thriller maybe the person who answers tries to help them escape or warns them) could be related to the black phone

Newspaper - your school has a school newspaper (or blog) no one knows who runs it. But they spread rumors about you and people start to ask questions. One day you see one of the triplets leaving the newspaper class (or vice versa) and you go to confront them

Yearbook - while you're looking through your yearbook you notice a picture of someone who you have never seen before, there is no name underneath so you think it's pretty strange. You try to look them up on socials and find nothing, you ask students and teachers about them, and nothing. They might as well not exist. That is until you start seeing them around the school, they always seem to disappear right when you go to talk to them.

Love Spell - you're a wizard or witch, you often make spells. You love your best friend. But they don't love you back so you try to make a love spell/potion to cast on them. But what happens when the spell backfires and they end up falling for your best friend instead? (angst)

or the spell backfires and you end up casting the spell on yourself and start to fall for your best friend's brother?

The other Zoey - what happens when you get in an accident causing you to lose all your memories, even the memory of your boyfriend. (could go with either triplet or vice versa) You think Chris is your boyfriend or does he look just like him? he has to be right? (based on the movie with Drew Starkey)

Truth or Dare - in a game of truth or dare, you dared to fake date your enemy for a full two weeks. What happens when you start to fall in love with the one person you hate the most?

or you are dared to ask the school "weirdo" to prom (could be one of the triplets or vice versa) you soon find out they are actually really sweet and you start to develop feelings (romance + angst?)

The exorcist - the whole town is convinced you passed, so what happens when they kidnap you and force you into a ritual. more so what happens when the exorcist doing the practice tries to save you? (idk but could be good)

Cut the cameras - you are an actress and are playing in a movie with your costar (one of the triplets or vice versa) in a romance movie. But what happens when you start to develop real feelings for them off-screen?

Mailbox - you are just learning to drive when you accidentally get lost not knowing the directions. And to your luck, you crash into someone's mailbox. A very wealthy person's mailbox that you definitely can not afford to repair. They offer to hire you as their maid until you pay off your debts. What happens when they start to see you as more than a maid?

"You have to marry your third @" - in which a silly little game actually comes true. one day you were scrolling on your phone when you saw a post saying you have to marry the third person that comes up when you mention someone. That someone being the and only Matt sturniolo (or Chris), you mention him thinking nothing of it. He probably won't see it anyway. To your surprise you hear a knock on your door the next morning It's him. "Babe, what are you doing? the weddings in an hour!" he says as you look him up and down noticing he's dressed like a groom

The girl/boy stuck in the TV - one day you're watching your favorite show when your program gets interrupted and it's a clip of someone you've never seen before. You think nothing of it until every day at a certain time another clip comes on of the same person, and soon you're determined to get to the bottom of it.

The end of the world - the world is ending?? When you were 16 (or vice versa) you made a huge list of things you wanted to do before you turned 22 and now here you are 21 years old. your birthday is in three weeks but who knows if the world will end before then. Your best friend Chris (or Matt) tells you he will help you complete the list, you get halfway through the list in a couple of days until you see the last thing on the list. "Fall in love" will you finish the list before the world ends?

Backstage pass - You go to a concert of your favorite band (or popstar) you think you grabbed the bag that you packed specifically for the concert. Little did you know you grabbed some other back which contained your diary. As you reach into the bag to grab your portable charger for your dying phone, your diary falls out you try to grab it but it gets lost in the crowd. the concert goes on and you forget about trying to find it telling yourself it will be easier once the concert is over. however you forget and the concert ends and they won't let you back inside to find it, what happens when your idol finds it instead?

or you could make the reader go on the triplets tour (where they find the diary and make a TikTok about it or something trying to find the person) or one of them picks it up and starts to read the pages not noticing the mic is on while they are doing sound checks and everyone hears what you wrote about them

Evil twin - what happens when your evil twin tries to steal your life? you and Matt (or Chris) have been dating for years your life is perfect, but what happens when your evil twin resurfaces and has some kind of spell over him. Will you win him back or will your love be lost forever?

Potato talk - every day you get a notification about a damn potato a text message asking something along the lines of a potato. "What's your favorite potato dish?", "Waffle fries or curly fries?" you never reply thinking it's just spam. Until one day you get fed up and decide to answer the message. "What's up with you and potatoes?" you message shocked when you get an instant reply. "Tell me your favorite kind of potato and maybe I'll answer" (based on Chris's love for potatoes)

or one day you're looking for a new podcast to listen to and you come across one called "Potato Talk" it barely any listeners. you decide to listen and it's a guy talking about potatoes the whole time (could also be a Twitch stream)

Anonymous - you run a tumblr blog and everyday you get an ask from a certain anon (insert emjoi) what happens when they start trying to convince you they are one of the triplets?

What I think About Every Kickin it Discussion Video on Youtube (+ Lab Rats)

The lucky thing about this is that there are only 3 of these videos. That is three that discuss this show under my criteria. The criteria being that the video is solely about Kickin' it and has nothing to do with Cobra Kai and it isnt just a random twitch streamers vod of them watching the show.

The unfortunate thing is that most of these videos either arent what im looking for in a Kickin it discussion video or they are just a bad video completely regardless of it being about Kickin it.

As a basis of what is good, I would say that the Kenyan Carlile videos are perfectly pleasant. He takes a look at each episode and provides lots of commentary and lots of his own personal thoughts. He doesn't look as deep into the fandom as he couldve ( It would've been funny if he commentated on the wattpad fics with Chase and Adam photoshopped next to some random Pinterest blonde girl from 2014 ngl) he did a good job. His videos are fun and are the only worthwhile videos available about Lab Rats on YT. It is unfortunate that there are so few but Kickin' It isnt so lucky despite the small increase in at least comprehensible videos.

This video talks more about the lack of diversity, the classic Disney XD racism and sexism, and a bit about the fandom. Its not too in depth and is a little hard to watch due to the audio, but its the best on this list. As a black person myself I was also a little irked by Eddie's complete removal, which is why hes very present in my AU ( Writing-wise, I've barely gotten around to drawing any of the wasabis), and yeah, the racism and sexism had to go too. You can find many posts of mine warning that if you do give this show a watch and you have no nostalgia, you'll bump into some side-eye-worthy stuff.

Alex Meyers's video is definitely below HH's video based purely on the fact that I don't like the format of his video style. Particularly when he does TV Shows ( Movies are okay)

You may like his style, which would bump this video up to HH's level, which is okay. But i still don't. He watches a few episodes of any show and only goes over the first one for his video. Because hes only reviewing one episode, that leads to him making these grand sweeping generalizations of characters and potential plot points. This could be comidic if you haven't watched the show, but I have... so a lot of the jokes don't land for me because they don't make sense if you have the actual context of the rest of the show. That makes the viewing experience of this video kinda lame but its a whatever video.

Now this next video or videos, I'm not even gonna link because I HATE it. Not just as a Kickin it video, Not just as an early 2010s tv show retrospective video, but the Channel as a whole. That would be Mr. Nostalgias 2 video " retrospective" on Kickin' it.

Those videos are HOT CROSS BUNNNSSSS. As in they suck ass. The most egregious part of those videos is the fact that they are this dudes attempt to completely capitalize on the empty void in the "multi-hour-long retrospective on random shit" era of YT we're currently in. The difference between this guy and Kenyan or even Quinton Reveiws is that he has no INTEREST in the property hes talking about. People already grabbed the more popular tween Nick, Disney shows and Disney XD shows to look at... They snagged, Drake and Josh, I Carly, Victorious, Sam and Cat, Lab Rats, Mighty Med, Wizards of Waverly Place, Suite Life on Deck, Hanna Montana and even My Baby Sitters a vampire... All this guy had left to snag is the d-list shows like Zeke and fucking Luther and one very forgotten A-Lister. Kickin it.

He didnt even do a good job. He literally SKIPS multiple episodes per season that he deems "non-important," stating that his video would be boring with these episodes. First of all, the video is already just him saying what's happening in each episode with barely any jokes or insightful commentary. And second of all, you cant call this a retrospective if you're going to skip whatever you want. He also had the gall to say in his second video to the people complaining that all he was doing was repeating the episodes contents That's what he was gonna anyway... HUH. Why do a retrospective on a show if you don't care enough to watch all the episodes, ESPECIALLY when all your doing is saying what happens? He also skips some b-plots too, which again is annoying, these videos are already absurdly long for all the pointless talking you might as well add those episodes.

I just reacently learned that a lot of info he ut in his video is unsubstantiated claims from the FAN WIKI. YALL KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE KICKIN IT FAN WIKI. That is one of the WORST places to go for unbiased information and facts. That place is perpetually stuck in 2016. That place is broken, with one billion stub pages, poor quality photos and a bunch of arguments from 3000000 11 year olds. Taking info from that Wiki and having it be the only place you get show facts from just ruins your video's credibility completely in my opinion. Unless you're talking about the fandom, just don't go there for info.

Lots of fan wikis are actually good places to get info, Kickin it fan Wiki is NOT one.

Obviously he misinterpreted characters that's a given, but it is just a bad video regardless of the topic. It was a waste of time to watch and even though i could talk more ill just leave this one statement i made one time

"People in the comments were proclaiming him Keyan and Quinton as the horsemen of that style of content. which is a no because there are four horsemen, and two this guy is NOT the same as them at all. I wont say that his videos took no effort but they were barebones compared to the style he was trying to reproduce. Obviously, Quinton went through EVERYTHING possible, from the fandom to the producers to games and such. Keyan did a little less but he was thorough and visited sites and still went on fun little tangents overthinking certian aspects like all good fans do…. This other guy did none of that"

Q: what plot/vibes is it most similar to?

THIS IS A HARD ONE it's very much PMD in a PMD sense? a bit darker than the main series from the start because the future isn't the kindest place per-say. I try and keep the tone similar to the main series! I suppose it has a quite a bit of influence from an RPG called Oneshot.

Q: Summarize the main cast in 1-2 sentences!

MAIN CAST: Human/Player: Awkward little human, overthinks EVERYTHING, tries to be supportive and help out. Can't really fight like Pokemon can, so they're just kinda moral/Task support.

Treeko: NEEDS TO SAVE THE WORLD THERES NO TIME TO STOP GUYS WE NEED TO SAVE THE WORLD. doesn't sleep much, rise and GRIND SO very motivated, lost pretty much everything and is determined to keep others from losing in the way he has.

Dusclops: Has a strong moral compass, but no one really knows where it's pointing. Cares for the cast, but is reluctant to get close to them.

LESSER KNOWN/non canon CAST: Leafeon: Unwillingly put into a leader position that they aren't very capable of. Stoic and very determined, tries not to let their stress show.

Flygon: "ERM actually guys", scout!! One of the main researchers. Does a lot of field work + rescue missions and is one of the more self-motivated members of the team.

Shuppet: Therapist friend, keeping the team mentally sound mostly. Is younger than they let on. Goofy goober, best friends with hoppip

Hoppip: A BABY!!!!! They were born into the world and orphaned recently, very innocent, can do no wrong. Moral support. No sunlight, so they rely a lot on leafeon for survival.

I LOVE WRITING SHUPPET AND HOPPIP they're such a duo. I also love leafeon a lot, and ofc the human!!
