Cold reunion

Bishop Natalie Seline was the first human wielder of Xal'atath the dagger, she was killed at one point as a consequence of the artifact's influence but was brought back during Legion as a part of the Cult of Forgotten Shadows I just Forsaken-ified her design a lot because I think she should be one : )

"Oh, no, it hasn't, I assure you," Billie said quickly. "I'd very much like to try again." At least once, just to see if it was something she might... like? Something that might help her anxieties and restlessness, at least. Billie didn't know if she'd like it. She didn't even know if that mattered. Liking things had never mattered much to her before, even if she was sure of a few things that she liked.

"I think that makes sense," Billie said, nodding. "I enjoy music, so I work at the radio station, now. Though, I didn't really know much about it before I started." Her head cocked to the side, curious. "What kind of jewelry do you design?" she asked.

 ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ "Thank you, and it's nice to meet you too. I hope this won't deter you from trying again." Selin appreciated that they were being kind about it, though if the shoe were on the other foot she would probably be a little bit annoyed at the very least. Not about the class being cancelled, but just not having the prior notice. Still, these things happened. "Oh, only occasionally. I don't work here full time but I enjoy yoga so I thought why not turn a hobby into a job for a little extra money, you know? Besides, when I moved here I wasn't sure how well my little business would do. I design jewelry, most of my sales are online but I have a stall at the market sometimes too." Selin explained in a flurry of words that came out quickly.

Darcy was terrified, and that was saying a lot.

But Beema was still alive and out there and something horrible and huge and giant was out there, potentially hunting her, so there was no question that they needed to help her. Maybe there was a bit more question if Darcy had to be there, there was a few moments of hesitation on her part for certain, but in the end she couldn't have stayed away, couldn't have stayed back on the beach.

So now she was in the Wilderness, hoping she was heading in the right way. Nobody knew where they were really going, but they had to find Beema, right? They just had to.

Ans hopefully before the hornets found them, too.

Thankfully it wasn't the hornets she stumbled into first - it was Selin, probably here for the same reason as she did. "Selin? Selin!" she called out - or more like whisper-called out and jogged up to the woman, hoping she heard her and wouldn't get a jump scare as Darcy stepped up against her. "I'm assuming you haven't found Beema yet either, right? Or seen that giant mostrosity?"

Younger Selin

To any normal thinking person, Selin's reasoning and logic would have maybe been just what the person needed to push them back towards the right thinking, maybe even fully abandon the idea that what came before was not real. This was Darcy, though, and she has convinced herself to such degree that she was right, that even the most logical arguments flew over her head and she could convince herself that Selin was, in fact, wrong.

It wasn't her fault, accepting that everything was a simulation was hard, Darcy understood that more and more as time passed and she talked to more people. "Well, what if you flip that? What if what is happening with you is the normal thing somehow and what happened in the simulation was a controlled study about what happens to people when they cannot do something like this?"

What were the next steps? That was a good question. "I am not quite sure of that just yet," Darcy admitted. "But we will be tested on plenty of things, I am certain of. We are here for a reason, Selin, you gotta see that. Even if you don't believe the simulation, you cannot deny that this is no random happening that we all found ourselves here without any memories, piled together in the same place, waking up around the same time. That has to be intentional and done by somebody or somebodies."

No matter what she said, though, Darcy couldn't reach Selin, couldn't convince her, she could see it, the way Selin pulled back and asked to be left alone. Even in the midst of freaking out, she'd rather be alone than listen to Darcy. That kind of rejection of her belief hurt more than she really thought could be possible. She put Selin down and took a step back, but still couldn't help but ask, "Are you sure? I can stay here, make sure you get back to your full height. It was happening before, I'm sure you'll be back to normal in no time and you really don't have to be alone until then."

Darcy's claims were rather…off putting to say the least. Maybe to her it seemed to make sense but for Selin, it was a lot to digest. Why on earth would her normal life back home in Edmonton be the thing that was fake when she was currently on a beach where people exploded and shrunk out of nowhere! "Okay, sure we don't remember anything, but how does one go from being completely normal, average size, to shrunk as small as a mouse? How is this possibly the real world if I'm somehow able to do things that no real person could ever do? And…and why would a life so mundane and boring be fake? Day's where I just spent the entire time, sitting around at home, grading homework, cleaning, grocery shopping. why would someone need to simulate that?"

If anything, Darcy's reasonings weren't doing anything to convince Selin, it was actually pushing her in the opposite direction. Selin never doubted that they were still in their own reality, that home was real, but so was here. Now, she was more in favor that where they were now couldn't possibly be real. It had to be some kind of virtual reality that they were forced into for…some reason. "Do I even dare ask what you think this…next stage is? If that simple little life I lived before coming to was some sort of test, what was I preparing for? Cause there is no way any of that could have prepared me for this!" It felt weird to entertain the theories, it was ridiculous! Everything had been in her head, Selin couldn't accept that.

No, no, it didn't make sense and honestly Selin didn't want to stand there, tiny and at the mercy of Darcy and her strange thoughts. Maybe she hit her head, or maybe she was going crazy already. Hell, for all she knew she was enlightened and could see the truth so clearly while others couldn't, but whatever it was, Selin was not ready to accept Darcy's theories not when she was a couple inches tall. "Look, Darcy can you just…put me down. I think I'm just…gonna manage on my own? Yeah, I think, maybe some deep breaths, maybe make my way back to my little house and I'll be back to normal in no time. Whatever happened to me I'm sure it will pass."
