The sannin as normal childhood friends who have sleepovers and play games in the forest and bond over liking "gross" animals
anon thank you SO much for this mental image. you have made my very miserable assignment-filled day. I have many thoughts about the sannin and baby sannin being inseparable best friends who were just normal kids make up about 90% of them. here's some hc I have about that (sorry for the massively long post, I'm a yapper at heart)
yes absolutely. I like to think of the sannin as misfits who never fit in anywhere else except with each other. there's so many different reasons for this. we know they became genin at age 6. if this makes them the exception, rather than it being the normal practice for a village in tumultuous times, then this must have meant each of them were prodigies in their own rights in the academy (yes, even Jiraiya I'd say, though I'd suspect his was more a case of recognised potential rather than showing any obvious prodigal talent from the get-go). this is further reinforced by the fact the third hokage became their sensei. I doubt the hokage would've taken up any random group of genin as his students. if this is the case, can you imagine how difficult it must've been for them to make friends with others, their age or otherwise? not only would it be hard to relate to their other peers cause of the age and probably ability gap, but I'd imagine people would've found them downright intimidating! all this, along with all their individual personality which, if their 6 year old selves were anything like their 50 year old selves, would've meant the little baby sannin would not have been anyone's first choice of friends.
so I'd imagine each of them being a bit of loners in the academy. then they get put in a team together. recognise they each stick out like a sore thumb from everyone else, but have all of the above common ground. their personalities are difficult for each to get used to initially, but once they do, these three super super super quickly become absolutely inseperable. to call them family would've been a serious underestimate of their relationship imo.
anyway this is all a long winded way of saying YES they're absolutely those regular childhood best friends who have sleepovers and hang out and play games. I imagine that tsunade grew up with a massive family in a massive loving home. direct contrast to orochimaru who's an orphan and, I imagine jiraiya is an orphan too (hence no canon last name). therefore, the senju compound is typically the designated sleepover venue.
the senju compound has mito, and nawaki, and depending on what your hcs are, would have tsunades parents, and I'd think they'd still effectively live like royalties even if the first and second are dead. (hashirama and tobirama wouldn't be around anymore by the time the three became genin I think, because (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) hiruzen would've already been hokage when he took on the three of them as his students, meaning tobirama would have already passed)
jiraiya and orochimaru just being at awe at the way tsunade lives and just how lively her house is and tsunade is just happy to have kids her age at home with her that just gets her cause her parents always nag her about training and chores, mito still treats her like a baby even though she's already a Shinobi that can take care of herself damn it!, and nawaki is so young he's so boring and sometimes gets annoying. so she always convinces her fellow teammates to come over to her house to practice and train, to babysit nawaki with her, to be the test dummy for try out this new jutsu or technique she's learning, and anything else that she insists she cannot do alone and needs them to be there with her
until suddenly it's already dark and oh her teammates can't possibly walk home all alone at this hour and besides my mum's making dinner and it's your favourite jiraiya and she'd scold me if I didn't offer some to you guys and orochimaru, mito found some sort of old scroll that uncle tobirama wrote about a new jutsu that she wants your thoughts on and besides, we have to meet sensei soooo early tomorrow for our mission and the training ground is closer from my house anyway, and you guys are just trying to get out of the bet we made and that's cheating y'know! and and and suddenly the senju compound just so happen to always have a few sets extra clothes and pyjamas that just so happened to be orochimaru and jiraiya's size and hey oro, raiya, look! it's got toads and snakes! and it matches mine! and the adults always just so happen to have two extra plates set at the table during meals, and the house just so happens to always be stocked up with both her teammate's favourite snacks, and orochimaru and jiraiya can suddenly enter the senju compound at any time of the day, with or without tsunade, and are greeted joyfully by the household's residents who had started nagging at them about training and chores and picking up after themselves, and mito is treating them like babies even though they're fully trained shinobis! and nawaki is being sooo annoying today and damn it, why isn't tsunade home yet? we agreed to train at 3!
(the three of them never quite notice that jiraiya or orochimaru's unannounced visits to the senju compound never trigger any of the seals that are activated by the presence of non-senju, non-family chakra in the compound. they never quite notice that the anbu guards at the front never give jiraiya and orochimaru any of the trouble or scrutiny that any visitors or guests to the senju compound are always subjected to, and the guards merely let them in with a slight bow of their heads, the same way they would to tsunade, or mito, or her parents.)
the only other times the sleepover isn't at tsunade's place is when there's a thunderstorm and orochimaru insists he needs to spend the night at his apartment because he tells them that last time the storm was this bad, lightning had struck a branch that smashed through his apartment that, if he wasn't already there and was even a little slower, would have destroyed the very few things his parents had left him that he so carefully keeps in a chest and he cannot ever take the risk that that would ever happen again he lost his power and his food went bad in his fridge, and c'mon tsu, you know oro not-so-secretly has a fear of thunder! don't you remember what happened last time at that mission where we were camping? we can't possibly let him spend the night alone at his house!
(later on when they're older, they'll come to find that jiraiya's new jonin apartment will become the new designated sleepover venue as jiraiya begins bringing back questionable sake from his missions that they were definitely too young to be having that he could not have possibly obtained that legally, and mito started banning them from playing card games at the senju compound when she noticed her granddaughter's tendency to lose her entire pay packet in a single game was becoming a bit too familiar to her... like a certain husband of hers' gambling habits that she had tried so hard to make sure wouldn't get passed on to the grandchild who the man had unwittingly taught said card games to at the age of 4. jiraiya started to call his apartment the degenerates' club then, much to the other two's dismay. though they couldn't quite protest when he correctly pointed out they were absolutely behaving like degenerates, even if princess tsunade and the leaf's once-in-a-generation prodigy felt like they were above those sort of disreputable behaviour.)
jiraiya and orochimaru fight tooth and nail that the massive forest that makes up the backyard of the compound, created by the shodaime himself of course, is the only reason they choose to hang out with tsunade at the senju compound, because princess tsunade (dammit oro stop calling me that!), the shodaime hokage seemed to have left so many fascinating things in this forest, there's so many secrets to discover. I don't think I've seen any of these species anywhere else in Konoha. I believe the secrets to some of his jutsu or techniques lie in this forest... oro you're such a nerd. and besides, Princess, the snakes here really seem to like oro for some reason and I think the toads are about to make me their king, I'm sure of it! and also, me and oro are the only people who don't find the fact you use the slime from those slugs in your potions or whatever absolutely disgusting, so we're the only friends you have to play in this gigantic forest with in the first place (it's not potions, it's a new medicinal gel I'm creating! and can you two just shut up? hide and seek is supposed to be a SILENT game and right now, you both really suck at it! I can literally locate you without even moving!) ...hey tsu, is mito-sama going to make those cookies she made last time again? she told me yesterday she would cause hiruzen-sensei told her we did a good job on our last mission.
the three of them knew everyone in Konoha had started calling them the 'Hokage's brats' behind their backs. but none of them realised that, particularly among the elders, this didn't seem to just be in reference to their sensei... there were other, more hushed whispers going around that if they had tried to listen to, would've sounded something like the adopted senjus... or lord first and second's legacies...
(these rumours may or may not have started when people started noticing tsunade's parents went from talking about their two children they adored, to their three rascals plus sweet little nawaki. or when mito kept comparing jiraiya's antics and personality to hashirama or orochimaru's brooding nature and hunger for knowledge was like tobirama's, or how tsunade's own hot temper and tenacity but also mischief was like her own's and the many Uzumakis that came before her, and that all three of them together balanced each other the way she, hashirama, and tobirama had. or when hiruzen constantly raves about his students and how much he sees his senseis in each of them and how the will of fire burns so brightly in them that he knew lord first and second would be extremely proud to see. in the end, though tsunade may have been the only one who shared a name with the senju founders, everybody couldn't help but see hashirama and tobirama and everything they had been and everything they had stood for in all three of the legendary sannin.)
#why yes i AM supposed to be doing my assignment right now#thank you anon for the ask and my apologies for taking your idea and absolutely RUNNING with it to the hills#as you can see i have a lot of thoughts when it comes to the baby sannin#with everything we know about the senjus (so not much) and all their stuff about the will of fire and the village being their family#there is absolutely NO WAY that they see tsunade's beloved teammates that she wont shut up about and see that theyre both orphans#that are in need of a little bit of love and family#and not immediately decided to adopt the two of them whether they like it or not#i absolutely believe that soon after they became a team the senjus started considering jiraiya and orochimaru as family#without even a shred of doubt in their mind#for as far it matters to them oro and jiraiya were one of them and were family no matter what#cause thats the kind of teachings that hashirama would've passed down#and cmon orochimaru had to learn tobiramas techniques somehow#i doubt these techniques were public knowledge#and jiraiyas proximity to the senjus could also be how minato learnt tobiramas technique too#but these hc just make what happened after the second war with the three of them so much more tragic#anyway anon i take your childhood friends sannin idea and raise it with inseperable unbreakable found family bond sannin#they mean everything to me#sannin#nart#meta#hc#tsunade#jiraiya#orochimaru#senju clan#mito#the legendary sannin#tsunade senju#naruto#naruto meta

Madara as Regina Mills and the Infinite Tsukuyomi as his curse, season 1 of Once Upon a Time style
Tobirama as Emma, coming in to break the curse, and Hashirama kind of filling the roll of Snow White, the brothers unable to recognize or remember each other but feeling each other's loss all the same (which in itself is kind of the greatest punishment for Izuna's death that Madara could give, save for actually killing one of them)
Maybe Kagami as Henry? Him somehow breaking through the curse and finding Tobirama and trying to bring him back to the little town of Konoha, knowing he's one of the only people who can get through to Madara. But also Tobirama doesnt remember anything anyways, so to him he's just humoring this kid
Ok actually scratch, rewind, lets take this from the top;
Ok so. Madara casts the Infinite Tsukuyomi, but instead of it being a dream it casts Konoha into the modern world, where everyone is given some role to fill in the little town of Konoha, and only Madara remembers how they all got there.
Madara sets some stuff up, like gives certain people certain roles and memories, and also bc something something magic something something the perfect dream, within the bounds of the town, Izuna + some other dead people exist. Madara isn't especially focused on the other dead, just Izuna, so he actually is partially unaware of the details of who else may have gotten revived (Itama is totally there somewhere, lost in the crowds)
Now, Madara did not truly design this town, nor the lives of the people in it. He could have, but he didn't bc he was a bit focused on just his own wants. So a lot of families got separated, things got mixed up, that sort of thing. Including the Senju brothers. Hashirama and Itama have no idea that they're siblings, and Tobirama is another ballpark all on his own.
You see, in a bit of a petty act and also a bit of paranoia bc 'something something best sensor in history' something something 'dont wanna take any chances' and also definitely a bit of last minute impulsive 'hey fuck you, I get my brother back but you dont, bitch' Madara pressed the "you are just a normal man who has no family" illusion onto Tobirama then kicked him out of town
With that said and done, Izuna by his side, Hashirama also positioned suitably close (maybe as an aid since he's Madara is the mayor?) Madara goes ahead and pats himself on the back and enters the Infinite Tsukuyomi himself, forgetting it all and able to truly live that happy, blissfully unaware life he had worked so hard for.
(Just ignore the burning fires in the background where Madara didn't think to double check if anyone else's roles lined up well with their original selves. Or the fact that Itama and some other dead people are totally wandering around in the bg, both them, their families, and even Madara none the wiser)
So anyways, just like in Once Upon a Time, time itself is pretty much frozen. No one ages, every day runs about the same, and honestly who knows how long this town has been here now-- because its residents sure as hell dont!
But then.
One day, somehow little Kagami somehow awakens the Mangekyō Sharingan, possibly through a pure chance fluke of the illusion wavering for unrelated reasons (bc it also supresses any chakra use) and Kagami's mangekyō's ability, whatever tf it is, allows him to break himself out of the genjutsu.
Making him now the only person in the town who's aware of the fact that they're all in some sort of illusion-- though the details escape him bc hes like. 13 and didn't know everything happening behind the scenes.
Oh also note, the ages and time frame of this is just all over the place and we will not think ab it too hard.
So Kagami ofc begins to investigate, he has very little idea of whats going on at all but he does quickly pick up on the fact that he can find just about anyone in Konoha here-- but not his sensei. And Sensei always knows what to do, so now he has a mission
Queue Kagami somehow tracking Tobirama down in the outside world, just like Henry did with Emma. Don't know the specifics of how tho!
So now cut to Tobirama:
First off, him as a parallel to Emma Swan is actually so good its kind of funny. I say he gets to keep being somehow able to 'know when someone is lying' (it's the traces of his obnoxiously powerful sensing abilities leaking even through the best of genjutsu)
He's some kind of private detective maybe? Idk but whatever he is, he's freelance and travels a lot
(Which helps keep attention from the fact that he, even removed from the town, does not seem to age-- something even he himself has not noticed)
So Tobirama is just living his kind of shitty, honestly a little depressing life. He has no attachments; He always feels like he's missing something or someone; He can never seem to connect with anyone, and people even seem to forget he exists when he's out of sight for too long (almost as if they're made to forget, as if he really was never meant to be here or be seen)
And then one day this tiny kid is banging on his door calling him Sensei and begging him in tears to come back to the village because everyones gone crazy and someones cast a genjutsu over EVERYONE and Izuna is somehow alive again and--
Woah woah slow down. First, who the fuck are you actually.
*insert stressed Kagami brain car crash noises here*
So yeah !! Tobirama doesn't know who tf this kid is, but he will drive him back to town and give his parents a good talking to.
Hikaku, Kagami's polite and stressed looking uncle, is very relieved to see him back home
Kagami is literally begging Tobirama to stay it's actually painful to watch and no one can understand why he's so fucking pressed about it. And for some reason, Tobirama decides to stay. But only for a little bit, you hear?
(It will not be for a little bit.)
And just like that, the clock tower begins to move, and time begins to pass once more. And both Kagami and Tobirama slowly piece together what exactly happened to get them here, and how the town might be broken out of it's enchantment
OK SO WITH THAT SET UP / PREMISE ON THE GROUND LETS TALK FUN DETAILS
So like. Tobirama and Hashirama having no idea they're brothers. Double to that, Itama is somewhere around! And no one fucking knows it!
Madara does not know what he's done, he is living his best life fr fr, but in contrast to how Hashirama and Tobirama seem to instantly click, Madara just kind of fucking hates this guy on sight for some reason. There's a lot of tension there and everyone in the office is making bets on if they're gonna kiss (Izuna has money riding on it)
So like Madara, Izuna, Hikaku and Hashirama running the mayors office n stuff, with Madara as the mayor
Tobirama eventually ends up as Sherrif just like Emma which is also irony bc smthn smthn Uchiha police force agenda or whatever. And then him and Madara regularly get into very public fights over clashing ideals
Im tied between saying that the timeline for this is like, just wishy washy "hey dont worry ab it" and tossing in Kakashi's generation + others for fun and to fill in spaces
Or saying that just like how the Infinite Tsukuyomi seemed to bring some people back to life within the boundaries of the town, there are some legit time bending aspects of it, and just like how we have people who are supposed to be dead, we also have people who just shouldn't be born yet. Fun stuff!
But like Kakashi Obito and Rin are totally around. Somwhere. Also Sakumo but Kakashi still believes his father is dead and Sakumo can no longer remember Kakashi exists (rip)
Itama is the towns one weed dealer and also a plant scientist bc I fucking refuse to give up on the stoner Itama agenda, that is my default Itama in every AU now. Oh also he's like an adult, and we're also sticking with the him and Tobirama being twins agenda
He and Tobirama meeting for the first time with sheriff Tobirama arresting him for selling weed pass would be the funniest thing
Touka is the deputy sheriff and she and Tobirama get along like a house on fire, and then bc convoluted reasons they somehow rope Itama into working w them for parole/community service or smthn. Dream team!!
But yeah thats it thats the post thanks for listening Im gonna go stare at a wall now

Could I have an imagine/a little scenario of Madara, Itachi, Sasuke and Hashirama explaining to his son that his wife is pregnant again and that he'll have a little sibling soon? Thank you, I love your posts!
this is so soft i'm- 🥺
notes/warnings: f!reader, pregnancy talk, non-massacre au,
Madara Uchiha
His firstborn has just turned four years old when you become pregnant with your second child. Fatherhood hadn't come naturally like he thought it should have, so he's relieved that he's got three years of practice before he needed to be ready for a second. He was around his son's age when Izuna was born, making him an older sibling, so it felt right. He and his siblings all had a couple years between them (even if the clan elders seemed to forget that).
It's a soft spoken request that he be the one to tell your son about the new arrival to the family, feeling that his duty as a father was to prepare his son for the future. He didn’t know really how to say what needed to be said, so he was hoping for a moment to make itself know for him to take advantage of it. So he takes the boy along while attending to his duties around the village, the boy sitting atop his shoulders until they reach the clinic where Madara needed to get the herbs for your tea and medicines that would help keep you and the baby healthy as your bodies developed.
“What’s that stuff for? Is Mother sick?”
“No, no, far from it.” He supposes now is the opportunity he was hoping for, so he kneels in front of the boy who looked so much like his mother it was charming. “Your mother is pregnant, which means that in a few months she is going to have a baby.”
“A baby!?”
“Indeed, and we have important jobs as the father and big brother to take care of your mother as she grows this new life and to protect her and the new baby when they’re born. You are the eldest son, you will have responsibility over your younger sibling always, and it will be your job to help me train them.”
Hashirama Senju
Your firstborn son isn't even talking by the time you're pregnant with your second child. The village elders think it's wonderful that you're so fertile and healthy after giving birth that you could become pregnant again, Hashirama is stressed out of his mind. He's ecstatic at having another child come into the family, sure, but concerned about how you'll manage two children under two years old while he is busy as the Hokage.
So he turns to his new therapist: his not even year old son. You were fast asleep but the babe was fussy, and he was more than happy to quietly walk around until the infant was asleep in his arms. Only he talked while he did.
"You know, your mother is going to have another baby in a few months," he starts, large hand rubbing his son's back. "You're going to be a big brother, like your papa and your uncle. It's a big job, you've got to set a good example since younger ones copy everything you do. It's kinda annoying sometimes but don't tell your uncle I said that. I'm gonna do everything I can to be a good father, and help you be a good big brother, but you've got to do me a favor and start sleeping through the night. Your mother will need to be well rested so she can give you a healthy sibling, I will need to be well rested so I can take care of our family, and you will need to be well rested so you can fill our days with so much love and joy and grow into a splendid young man."
The child is asleep on his shoulder now, but Hashirama feels like they've made an agreement tonight.
Sasuke Uchiha
Sasuke has to ask Itachi how the news was broken to him. He knew their parents didn't just have a second child and not tell their oldest son, but he needed to know how they did it. Did they just say it? Did they have to explain how babies were made?
And of course, the elder sibling was of no assistance. He apparently didn't remember having a conversation like that with their parents (but Sasuke was certain that Itachi just liked to see him squirm).
Which leads Sasuke to sit on the dock with his five year old son, much like he used to with his own father. The boy is excited to tell him about school, and how he's the best in his class.
"You're not yet a shinobi, but I need to give you a mission," Sasuke starts, a hand atop his son's head as the boy stares up at him. Sasuke giving his son "missions" was not a rare occurrence - it actually was how he ensured that the more tedious tasks got done (like eating vegetables and cleaning up toys). "A pretty big task, your most important mission."
"What is it?"
"You're going to be a big brother soon, so I'll need you to help me take care of your mom and the new baby when they come."
He anticipated the excitement at the news, and was equally relieved that the young boy was excited to be a big brother. What he hadn't anticipated was his son hopping up to go run to his uncle's house, needing advice for how to prepare to be a good big brother.
Itachi Uchiha
He has to get over his own excitement first. He's had so much fun as a father to his firstborn, the last four years being nothing but joy (even when he was running on less than three hours of sleep due to teething, restlessness, or needing to sweep the house three times to ensure there weren't any monsters after a bad nightmare). Two have two children running around, filling his home with light and laughter, was just a dream come true.
He waits until he has the first ultrasound photo, wanting to be as informational about this as he could be since he knew his son would have questions. Then he sits in the grass with his son and asks if the boy would like to see something beautiful. He takes the time to explain the picture in his hands, and that his son was looking at the first ever picture of his younger sibling.
"We'll be doing a lot of preparation for their arrival, and your mother and I will need your help taking care of them when they get here. Babies have a lot of needs."
"I can't wait to meet them." The boy says cheerfully, looking up at his father with a wide smile. "Will you train me to look for monsters like you and mom do for me?"
"When you're old enough, I will."

SInce Obito is in the past as well ('In the Eye of the Beholder'), do you have any thoughts about Hashirama/Obito?
Yo~
I enjoy Hashirama/Obito, I've devoured enough rare-pair collections in my day to have a healthy appreciation for these two!
I think there's already a lot of good stuff out there about them but I'll just hash (heh...Hash) out my thoughts since you asked so nicely~
Let's get some context 👏
Obito does not have a great life, frankly. When he's not being an ignored orphan in a very strict and ambitious Clan, he's mediocre in class and shown up by this pipsqueak prodigy, who also has his bestie in a tizzy. Graduating doesn't improve much, when he's got front row seats to the Kakashi Show, Minato-sensei is literally that kid's adoptive father/brother, and Rin is crushing harder than ever. The one time Kakashi admits Obito is right, Obito 'dies' in agony, blinded, only to wake up to Crazy-ass Madara himself and a post-trauma Mokuton operation. The world literally goes to shit and Obito is erratic as FUCK. He's finally a badass tho, so pros and cons
Let's compare with Hashirama, who's the eldest of four brothers and fit to inherit a clan that's locked in a bloodied feud with no end in sight. He has a lot of chakra, which we know means he was off to a really rough start with his education, and his younger brothers died young. His remaining brother, Tobirama, is not only much more distant and critical of Hashirama, but he's also much more receptive to their fathers lessons on the feud and brutality etc... so it's like Hashirama can't protect anyone from anything, not his brothers from death and not his clan from the feud and not Tobirama from himself. He has dreams for peace, he meets a young like-minded boy, and the smallest taste of hope is almost immediately ruined; the boy is an Uchiha, which would be great if they hadn't been caught and threatened, if Tobirama hadn't snitched, if they could just make some progress. And growing up, getting stronger, taking on more responsibilities as clan heir... None of this is helping. He's no further forward. He has power and prestige and yet no one will listen, he can't even convince his own brother... What can he do?
Together!
Obito is an Uchiha with Mokuton, regardless of the fact it isn't naturally occurring. He's powerful, literally untouchable, and he might be mullish but he's emotionally sensitive and touch-starved. He also has a guilt complex the size of the (no jinxes) moon AND he's in the market for a life's purpose.
Hashirama is... Hashirama. He is precious and hopeful and tender and loving. He has a purpose but no umph to get it rolling, he is in need of some devotion to match his own ability to love so absolutely. He needs something to crack the stalemate and he needs backup.
Do you see where I'm going with this?
They just click like jigsaw peices, they are literally counterparts to what the other is so sorely in need of. And it's not just a 'need' but it will be a match of personalities as well-
Hashirama is shameless with his love, he is unapologetic with his emotions and that will be so healthy for Obito, who has been shamed for his emotions all his life and who has hungered for someone to love him as much as he himself loves. Hashirama has a lightness to him but never a naivety, a brightness that Obito desperately needs, and he will absolve Obito for all the horrible things he's done. Obito is such a ride-or-die that Hashirama will flourish under his protective fervour, he is snarky but honest and it's a touch of bite that Hashirama is lacking in.
They will literally transform the world together. It's so satisfying when people are reciprocated in their entirety, this is also why I'm a sucker for mutual pining 🤭
P.S- if, like with Shisui/Hashirama/Mito, this is poly then it still works (Poly Fixes Everything 😤) because what you get instead is an Uchiha-Senju-Uzumaki treaty and a dynamic that functions well: Mito and Hashirama smother Obito with affirmations, Mito is absolutely the Brains of the organisation and gets a lot for floral gifts (She is either holding both of them on toddler leashes OR she is hiding amusement behind a masterful Pokerface as Obito is bitchy-snarking beneath his breath to her whilst Hashirama plays nice with others), and Hashirama has two amazing people to go to with idealistic dreams and who will say "okay sweetie let's make this reality" to him and then do it
Enjoy, Anon! ✨

Lucky Dove (Madara x reader x Izuna) Chapter 1
Masterlist
All of us were sat in the back room on the bar, it had a bigger area for special events so we decided now may be a good time to use it given it has more room and we can seat the Senju brothers away from Madara and away from the front windows. I doubt them all sitting on a couch together is a good idea and we didn't want people questioning why we were open so late. Dove had changed into a black sweater, it got kinda cold at night in the lower level of the building but we had heated floors so it was thankfully okay. Sometimes I loved Scotland for this.
"So.. you know everything that's happened up until the most recent war?" Hashirama asked us as we finished explaining what the books and anime were and how we knew what had already happened after my death. I nodded as I leaned back in my chair, Dove was sat on the arm, leaning on me slightly as she lazily flipped through the books.
"Yep." She said, popping the 'p' as she tossed the manga onto the table with the rest in front of us. "My brother was so obsessed with it as a kid. And he's shown me tons of stuff about it online; in this world you can find so much information about the Naruto universe, even down to your favorite and least favorite food. It's both creepy knowing you guys are real and all now, but also kinda impressive with the knowledge this world would have of yours given you know nothing about ours." She said, getting slightly off track making me flick her arm, she stopped and slowly turned her head to me.
"Sir, I will not hesitate to bite you." She said making me let out a laugh, though the others looked more concerned then anything.
"Will she actually, bite, you?" Tobirama asked, he was very obviously put off by her words if his slight disgusted sneer on his face was anything to go by.
"She has a name, you stupid fucking cunt. It's no wonder you never found a woman in your world with how bloody vile your personality is so far." Dove snapped at him as I stopped laughing and put an arm on her leg.
"Hey, you're supposed to be the calm one. Stop it." I told her, though she just rolled her eyes and deadpanned at me.
"I'm missing ma fuckin sleep for this, and ma daily schedule is about to get severely fucked with this situation, so yea, 'm a little irritated about this." She said, a lot less bite to her tone now making me smile again. Madara and Hashirama were staring at us in a strange way, though I was more focused on how Tobirama was glaring daggers at Dovie and I; I swear, if he tried anything on her or makes her uncomfortable I will stab him in his sleep.
"Well, can you at least be civil?" I asked her making her huff, crossing her arms.
"As long as he keeps his bloody mouth shut, I'll do the same." She said making me give a small sigh of relief.
"Thank you, Dovie. Now, as I was going to say," I started, turning back to the men while just missing the way Dove relaxed a little bit more at my words, or the way the two elder brothers in the room looked at us, a smirk swiftly beginning to cross Madara's face as Hashirama seemed a little almost giddy in his seat but I paid them no mind as I was also quite tired. "I've learned to keep my arms and hands out of her way, she will bite to get you to go away or move if she's not in a talking mood." I said, seeing the men all sweatdrop at the unbothered expression on the red heads face, looking at one of her healing tattoos on her wrist, my brother and Hashirama staring at her in confusion.
"Why?" Madara asked, Dove shrugged and looked up at them all.
"Gets the point across quick enough." She said nonchalantly, Madara snickers as the Senju brothers sweatdropped, thinking Dove was probably an idiot when she's actually anything but that. "Besides, I only do it with certain people. Izuna just happens to be the one of those people. You are all safe from my biting." She said, putting her hands up in reassurance before turning her head away.
"For now.." She mumbled so only I could hear making me chuckle, rolling my eyes at her.
"No biting." I told her making her sigh.
"Fiiiiiine." She said before she yawned slightly, leaning on me again with her arm on my shoulders and her cheek on my head.
"You should probably go to bed now, Dovie." I told her, she looked down at me and raised an eyebrow.
"Thought you didn't want to deal with Murder McMurderson over here?" She asked making Tobirama let out a scoff, you could almost feel the arrogance he gave off in that moment.
"I'm not a Murderer. If anyone here is it his brother." He said with a roll of his eyes, crossing his arms as I deadpanned at him.
"Okay, remember earlier when Dove said we can kick you out and leave you to fend for yourself? Yea, that still applies to right now, and I'm not dealing with you being a little bitch anymore, Tobirama." I said, crossing my arms. They all looked slightly shocked at my words, though Madara not as much; I'd even say he looked slightly impressed which I found amusing. I guess I was a bit less, vulgar, when I was in their world. Dovie really has rubbed off on me a lot. "I hate you, my brother hates you, you hate us. We get it, now get the fuck over it if you actually want our help." I told him, it was plain and simple. He needed help and he was in no position to be treating us like this in our own home, so I was going to make sure I was very clear that he understood that. He looked at me stoically, but I could see his anger flaring under his collected composure, his eyes burning daggers at me but he shut his mouth, Hashirama sighed and ran a hand down his face.
"Tobirama, you are going to get us into a worse situation if you keep treating others like this." He muttered as Dove chuckled.
"This world isn't like you're old one. You need ID for most important things and none of you have that. Going off on your own is more likely to end up with you getting into very, very bad situations especially given you have no idea how to act normal here. Since only Izuna and I have proper ID for this world, you'll have to rely on us for most things if you stay here. Is that understood?" She asked them, Hashirama immediately nodded, Tobirama reluctantly following suit as Madara squinted at her then turned to me.
"How do you have ID here if you're supposed to not exist?" He asked making me sigh, pulling my wallet out of my pocket and pulling my drivers license out, sliding it over to him.
"Because in this world I am not Izuna Uchiha. I'm Izuna Uzuma." He said, Madara eyeing the small card with the alias and my photo before handing it back to me. "I didn't pick the last name, Ian did. Thankfully, I might know someone who could get you an ID for yourself here, but it'd take a while. Not exactly a legal or easy thing to do to just make a whole new identity for someone." I said as I put the card back in my wallet, they were all silent for a moment as they all processed this before Dovie yawned again and sat up.
"I'm going ta go back upstairs and get the rooms ready for 'em. Don't stay up too late, we need to figure the rest of this out as soon as we can." She said, patting my head lightly before she got up and left, throwing up a peace sigh as she left. "See ya." She called, not looking back over to us as she walked away. I watched her leave for a moment then shook my head and chuckled at her antics before looking at the three men in front of me. Hashirama has a slight smile on his face as Madara looked at me and the door Dove just walked out of slightly amused, Tobirama was just sulking in his chair. It was clear he hated the situation they were in, mainly because he had to rely on me, an Uchiha he had thought he got rid of a long time ago.
"Are you dating her?" Madara asked suddenly making me choke on my spit, coughing slightly as I looked at him with wide eyes.
"W-what?" I asked, he raised a brow at me and crossed his arms.
"Are you dating her?" He repeated, Hashirama's smile had widened and I realized what they were thinking making my face turn bright red.
"Wait, no! You've got it wrong, i-its not like that!" I stumbled, raising my hands in defense as I tried to explain through the embarrassment I felt at being asked such a question about my best friend by my older brother of all people. "She's my best friend, nothing more!" I said, seeing him look at me with a very unconvinced look.
"Is that why you're face is so red around her then?" He asked, I could feel my face burning, trying to stutter something out when he smirked. "She is beautiful though, I will say. Who would have thought while we were all fighting a war, you had that pretty little thing dotting on you here the whole time." He mused, I felt something in my stomach tighten, something about the way he spoke about her unnerved me.
"She's helped me learn about this world, she's just been a really good friend to me. That's all." I said, though I knew he didn't believe me.
"I think she likes you." Hashirama said with a knowing smile, Tobirama rolled his eyes.
"Okay! I think that's enough talking for tonight." I said, abruptly standing up, trying to save myself from this embarrassment much to the two men's amusement. "Dovie's right, her and I still have the bar to run tomorrow so we shouldn't stay up too late. I can show you to where you guys will be staying for now." I said, trying to keep calm as they all followed me back up the stairs just as Dove came out of one of the empty apartments, all set up for when a student would arrive but now turned into a temporary living space for the Senju brothers. She looked at us, seeming slightly surprised to see us back up so soon but she didn't dwell on it long, walking up to us by our own apartment door.
"That door will lead to where you two are staying. There's three rooms, take your pick which one you want." She said, leaning against the wall before holding a key out to Hashirama. "You're quite lucky we have these extra spaces for you. We run a program with a few local colleges so over summer and winter break students usually stay here. I'll let the school know a few of the rooms have been filled until further notice so they know how many students can apply this year, so that place is all yours." She said, dropping the key in his hand.
"Thank you, we really do appreciate your help.. Even if Tobirama may not show it." He said, his brother still scowling making me roll my eyes at him.
"Grow the hell up Tobirama. Getting people to hate you in this world won't get you nowhere, and considering we have no clue how to get you two back, you're gonna need a major attitude adjustment. You have no power here, even Chakra is nearly impossible to access here, so learn to live or you can go die alone for all I care." I said, they all seemed to freeze at that. The mention of such an important thing being out of their grasp seeming to disturb and shock them to their core. Hashirama looked confused, Tobirama stoic though with how he closed his eyes for a moment then opened them a second later in shock, he felt it too. The absence of a vital energy flowing through him. "You didn't notice until now, did you? How you can no longer feel your Chakra now? Its because its so weak in this world you can't feel it; so hidden no one here can access it like we could in our old world." I chuckled, shaking my head as Madara paused.
"So, we are like.. regular men in this world?" He asked making me slightly grimace, knowing there was a lot to still explain and a lot they needed to know about why they may not be just like any 'regular' man still.
"Not exactly.."

I Will See The Future (Till Death Do Us Part)
When Obito gave Kakashi his eye, the words seemed to flow out of him like some long forgotten memory. "This sharingan is a gift to you… Take my eye and see the future… So I'll be by your side for the rest of our lives…"
Kill Your Heroes
“...Well, we got information.” Inoichi said. “ Useful information? Now that’s the question.”
Rumor Has It
Shikamaru glowered. It was bad enough that he had to deal with being suspended, and everyone's reactions to that (It would end when his suspension was up and everything would go back to normal. It had to), but now he had to deal with this man in his home. “What are you doing here?”
Hybrid Inviability
The Uchiha and Senju forbid their members to have children with any of the opposite clan. It's not out of malice or spite.
The Juubi That Ate Its Own Tails
This is his perfect world, and it's as happy as he wants.
Anthracnose
Kakashi is a genius, but you don’t have to be a genius to make a simple logical deduction.
The Nightmare
Ashido was the one to bring out the ouija board. Tokoyami and Kaminari both warned her about messing with spirits, and yet were both eager as she was. Kirishima and Jirou were roped in, and somehow they got the whole deku squad to join as well- Midoriya, Uraraka, Todoroki, and Iida.
The Horror Story
Hey you know how they wanted to do a test of courage for the UA training camp
The Groundhogs
A hundred years ago, Monsters surfaced from Mt. Ebbott, much to the surprise and confusion of the humans in the surrounding area. After all, weren't Monsters just the stuff of legends?
Hardships
“hey paps, did I ever tell you that snowpoff here won an international dog show?”
...
Well, the opening lines seem to set the tone of most of my fics. at least three of them open with the set up for one of the repeating lines of the fic, one of them just opens as the summary fic it is, less than half have dialogue in the opening line and half of that have the first words be dialogue. I don't really see patterns here. Then again, 10 fics means there's at least a five year gap between the first and last.

Fake dynamics.
⌗ Summary: In where you and Wakasa change y’all dynamics.
⌗ Word count: 2.1K
⌗ Pairing: Wakasa Imaushi.
⌗ Warnings: Cursing.
⌗ A/N: I can’t have my enemies to lovers story cause if we can’t work shit out by talking like adults then gtfo of my life, lmao.
To say you and Wakasa hate each other was an understatement. He despises you, and the same goes for you with him.
It all started with the foundation of the black dragons all those years ago. You, being the best friend of Shinichiro, ended up being one of the founders and part of the gang. Sadly, you and Shinichiro were very much alike in the fight scene, not knowing how to throw a decent punch. Because of this, in every single fight, Wasaka had to make the members of his unit focus on everything while he was protecting you from getting hurted, just like with his leader. That started a bunch of bickering between you two, with him telling you to get some fucking basic self defense from Benkei and you telling him to leave you the fuck alone.
Now, a bunch of years later, in a darker and bigger gang, he still has to put up with you because Takeomi decided to make you the advisor of Braham. He just can’t catch a damn break.
“I would like to know why the fuck do I have to patch your annoying ass up every single time you feel like training with Benkei.” You say, crouching down in front of him, who was in his boxers in your bathroom, he tsks.
Oh, yeah.
Since you couldn’t fight that well, you focused on learning a lot about how to take care of wounds and broken limbs, so he doesn’t just have to see you on fight days, but also when he and Benkei go all out training with each other.
“If you don’t want to do it, then fucking don’t and stop talking.” He says in a bored tone, you flick his forehead.
“There’s literally not a single person that you would let touch you, let alone see you like this, you little frankenstein.” You roll your eyes.
“We have been knowing each other for a long time and I don’t feel like letting another person see me naked.” You roll your eyes. He talks like you’re watching him in all his glory when he has underwear on.
“Yeah, right.”
The next time he sees you again is at B1, three days later. He enters the side office of Braham’s underground rin and frowns when you’re hugging Benkei’s arm tightly.
“What’s up with this one?” He says, pointing at you with his chin.
“Apparently a group of the guys that we were about to fight last week decide it was funny to bully one of us and stuff.” Akashi explains. “They say it’s the advisor’s fault that we didn’t fight them in the first place.”
“I mean, it was because of the advice that the boss canceled that fight.” Benkei says, Wakasa nods.
“So, a bunch of fuckers that can’t understand a no for an answer.” They all nod, agreeing with Wakasa, he shrugs. “It’s not like they would’ve won either way.”
“This is not about winning, it’s about them starting to target us out of pettiness.” You say and he raises his eyebrows briefly, showing you that he doesn’t care.
“Right, but you should know better than being in a gang and not expecting shit like this to happen. They’re not gonna give you a free pass to beat your ass just because you can’t fight.” He shrugs and continues before Benkei stops him. “That hasn't changed not even since Shinichiro-san.”
“Waka, that’s too—,”
“It’s okay. He’s right.” You say quietly.
That’s the first time in all the years he’s been knowing you, that you actually get offended at his sassiness, and he is shocked. Just when he is about to add something to lighten up the mood you stand up and bow to Senju.
“That’s all I had to report, boss, I’ll go home.”
And you’re out. Everybody looks at Wakasa with a frown.
“I refuse to believe that you’re this dense.” Takeomi sighs.
“What?”
“It was not the time, Waka.” Benkei says.
He rolls his eyes, not wanting to show the guilt he is feeling at the moment.
Two weeks have passed without seeing you again and he hates to say it but it’s getting annoying. Even if y’all dynamic was to pissed each other off, he was way too used to seeing you even in his goddamn soup, so what the fuck is this?
At the fourth week he was convinced that you were avoiding him, and he wasn’t going to go out of his way to change that, but he still was mature enough to know that he was the one in the wrong.
He was letting all his frustrations out in a worn out punching bag he has in his small apartment when someone starts knocking on his door like a fucking psychopath, he rolls his eyes.
“Benkei, I already told you to not come to my—,”
He stops in his tracks seeing you there, leaning against the door frame with an unfocused stare, pressing onto your abdomen and with dust all over your clothes, you have fresh blood coming out of your nose and lips.
“I’m sorry… I-I didn’t know where e-else to go and I—,”
His eyes go wide as hell when you just pass out on his arms before even finishing your sentence.
Now, he is seeing red from how livid he is and have murder on his mind, but first he takes you in his arms to his bathroom, sitting you on the toilet and tapping your cheek softly.
“Hey, hey,” You open your eyes and sigh, trying to bear with the headache you were having. You look at him. “I need you to give me permission to patch you up.”
You nod twice, and so he makes sure you’re leaning back and start filling the bathtub with warm water. He goes out to his closet and takes some boxers and a shirt of his, putting it in on the sink. In silence and with steady hands he starts undressing you. When you are all naked he takes you again in his arms and puts you down on the bathtub, you hiss at the contact of the warm water with some of your cuts but he doesn’t say anything.
When you’re accustomed to the temperature of the water he puts some body wash on his hands and starts cleaning all the dust and blood from your body.
“Who did this?” He asks, focusing on not being too rough on your cuts.
“That stupid gang that were harassing me some weeks ago. They are still salty about the fight getting canceled by me talking some sense to the kid… they jumped me when I was getting out of my nursing classes. I was about to go to Keizou’s house but he is too rough and—,”
“You did okay coming here,” He whispers to himself, brushing his thumb on your lip and under your nose to clean the blood.
“Look at us, me now being the one getting all patched up.” You mumble after a while of being in a comfortable silence, your voice still weak, he tsk.
“It’s not the fucking same, you aren’t trained for—,”
“You said I should know better,” You say deadpan interrupting him. “So it’s okay.”
“It’s not.” He grunts, his tone still naturally boring but more cold. “It’s not fucking okay.”
You take some water in your hands and refresh your face softly. He takes this opportunity to talk.
“That day I really crossed the line, I apologize, I won’t do that ever again and if I do you can have Benkei beating my ass.” You giggle softly and his expression softens a little. A little. “That was the first time I ever saw you getting offended by me, so I was pretty shocked at the moment and when I was about to apologize you weren’t at B1 anymore. After that you just kept avoiding me and I know better than going to your house for another thing other than patching me up.”
“I have been trying to learn how to do what you guys do for so long and, although we have this kind of enemies dynamic, you’re the one I’m the closest to after Shinichiro passed away, I mean, it’s been what? 5 years? maybe more of you being the specific one shielding me from any danger in fights. Your words hurt me a lot, Waka.”
“I’m sorry.” He murmurs and you nod.
“It’s okay, I was getting worried that we actually didn’t have big altercations in our little war.” You smile sadly.
“I don’t want to feel like that ever again.” He says quietly, you look at him frowning. “There’s not gonna be a second time of me hurting you, and there’s not gonna be a second time of me feeling like shit for it.”
“Oh, so you do care?” You giggle. He rolls his eyes and stands up, offering his hand for you to do the same. He wraps you in a towel.
“If I didn’t care, only God knows what would have happened with you in every single fight we had.” He murmurs and you hum. He is right.
Even though you feel a little bit better, he still dresses you up himself in his clothes, and then takes you to his kitchen. There, after giving you some painkillers, he starts cooking something for you to eat.
“I can go home alre—,”
“You’re not doing shit.” He says deadpan, giving you his back. You sigh. “You’re gonna stay here and when you feel better I’m going to take you to show me every single motherfucker that dared to put their filthy hands on you.”
“I- uhm… Yes sir.” You say, because this is the first time your so called enemy is showing this much emotion to you.
Carefully, he places the food on your lap and leans on the counter by your side, really close.
“It’s so weird all of this.” You murmur, and take a bite of what he cooked. He looks at you, waiting for you to swallow and continue. “This is not our dynamic at all and I’m… I don’t know.”
“Fuck that dynamic.” He says, always so calm and collected.
“That’s all we know.”
“Bullshit. That’s not all I know if we are not fighting right now, right?” You nod. “That dynamic is gone.”
“Uh, why?”
He stays silent at the question and you shrug and focus on eating all your food. When he sees that your plate is empty he takes it from your hands and wash it real quick on the sink, he dries his hands and gets between your legs, putting his hands on the back of your thighs and making you interlock your ankle on his small back. Silently, he takes you back to his room in his arms.
When you’re under his blankets with him he lays on his back while you lay on your side. He doesn’t say nothing when you scoop closer, nor when you softly lift your leg over him, instead, he puts his hand on your thigh and squeezes it softly.
“Because I never want you to look at me like you did that night.” He murmurs quietly. You look at him confused. “You asked me why earlier. I don’t hate you to the point of wanting to offend you, I’m okay with just the bick—,”
“You like me, don’t you?” You whisper, getting closer and resting your chin on top of your hand on his chest. His other arm circles your waist softly.
“Apparently, I do, yes.” He agrees.
You hum in content, sliding your hand up and down his chest softly.
“I like you too,” You whisper. “Apparently.”
“Don’t give me that.” He scoffs.
“You started it.” You retort. “I’m not about to confess when you—,”
He crashes his lips on yours, taking you by surprise since Wakasa Imaushi isn’t one to be impulsive. Nevertheless, you kiss him back right away, slowly moving till you are straddling him, his hand snaking to your hips and squeezing them. You sigh on his lips but he doesn’t let you get too far away, instead having you share breathing from how close you were at the moment.
“I like you a lot, Y/N.” He whispers onto your lips, calm but oh so confidently. “Does that sound better?”
“Uhm.” You hum mockingly, and he rolls his eyes.
“I can’t fucking stand you.”
“Yeah, I like you too, baby.” You keep mocking him while leaning down to hide on his neck, his arms going around you.
After a few seconds he talks again.
“I’m going to break every single bone in the body of the people who did this to you.” He whispers again and you hum.
“I know you’ll do.” You say with a smile.
“I’m sorry.”
“Waka, stop, that was a lot of weeks ago.”
“I’m still sorry.”
“I understand.”
“I like you.”
“Damn boy, were you always this talkative?”
“Shut the hell up.”

Tobirama, Naruto and Kakashi with a chaotic s/o 😜
Fandom Naruto
Characters Tobirama Senju, Naruto Uzumaki, Kakashi Hatake
Symbols 💜 . 💚 . 💛 . ▶️
Warning (s) none
N. A.: So... this ask (as well as others) has been in my box for ages and it's a bit strange that I'm only posting it now, but life is strange too XD Sorry anon for taking this long, but it's finally here if you still care. Thank you for requesting it anyway 💗 (Also this is the very first time I write for the anime's protagonist and I'm nervous and happy haha)
In this one we have the boys with a chaotic s/o, something like Harley Quinn according to anon. I confess I never watched Suicide Squad or Birds of Prey but I kinda understand what it means so I'll try my best 😅
Tobirama
Okay, listen
Going for the chaotic way is not exactly a good idea with this man
As you know, Tobirama already lives with a chaotic big brother and has to stand his even more chaotic best friend
So adding one more of this type in the bowl, in the form of his love interest, is the last thing he would want
It doesn't matter if you're a shinobi or not, he would try everything on his reach to prevent you from getting in trouble
Even if it means leaving a Shadow Clone to watch over you all day
Or mark some of your stuff with his Hiraishin
Or spending a regular amount of time tracing your chakra signature to make sure you didn't went to the open road with the first group of strangers you found
Because there was this time when you did, just for the aesthetic
And it ended up being a Rank-S mission
Whenever he tries to put some sense in you, you just mock him for being as grumpy as your grandfather
You try to drag him into some of your adventures to wild places with your friends, claiming that a vacation would be good for him
(Hashirama supports you in this)
But there are these few times when you get really annoyed by his overprotection and serious arguments take place
When you started dating, these conflicts happened more often
You were almost convinced that he just didn't love you at all, otherwise why would he try so hard to change you?
As time passed, however, you understood that Tobirama is a man of genuine affections, so that he would never do so much for someone he doesn't care
What you considered possessiveness he just saw as regular care for a loved one
It was when you started to think you should be more gentle, understanding
It's not easy for him to open up about his feelings, so he expresses them through actions
Things only started to work when you learned to respect each other for who you are 😌
Naruto
Definitely the most dangerous combination of this list lmao
Naruto is chaotic by nature, but in his own way
Boy is so attached to his principles and his will to help others that he puts himself in complicated situations so often
And this lack of fear (what others would call empty head) is precisely what caught your attention and made you fall for him
On his part, he immediately loved your vivacity and good humor
It just matches with his in a way he can't explain
You love to have fun and try new things without caring too much
And just like him, you seem to have infinite reserves of stamina
Your friends are happy that you go along this well, but they're also worried for obvious reasons
Naruto is not only young like you, but also the village's jinchuuriki, which puts a target on himself and the people around him, you included
So it's expected that his loved ones work to protect him instead of taking him into dangerous situations
Which is exactly what you end up doing sometimes
You believe that people should start trusting more in Naruto's capacity as a ninja, not trying to keep him locked and not learning anything
When you have arguments, it uses to be about this specific point
Naruto is better than you to understand that your friends just want the best for him, and this makes you look like the selfish one here
Well, it's true that you're not as generous and concerned about others' feelings as him
But your love for him is true, and stronger than your passion for danger
This becomes clear when you fight side by side in missions: the chemistry between you is something that even your enemies sense
In the end everyone knows that, as chaotic as you are, you wouldn't be the same without each other 💛
Kakashi
Well, things are different with this one
Kakashi is sort of a mixture of the two previous guys
He carries in him the realism and sense of responsibility of Tobirama, but without being too pragmatic like him
And also the youth and tolerance of Naruto, but not to the point of being childish like the Uzumaki
He's kinda the perfect match for a chaotic, carefree individual like you: he can have fun by your side but also keep you out of danger
You say you find it irritating sometimes, but deep inside it's a true diversion
You're always trying to get rid of him for a while, to have fun your own way
(Your own way = jumping from the Hokage Rock without protection, buying bottles with suspicious content from suspicious sellers and empty them in one night, not shutting your mouth in the right time around the wrong people just to see what happens, etc.)
Fortunately, Kakashi knows you better than anyone and is the smartest guy around
He can predict your moves
Or even guess when you're about to start something just by examining your body language
So that he can get there first and stop you
You yell at him to stop treating you like one of his students
And he just tells you to stop behaving like one of them
You threat to start a physical fight
He accepts the challenge
For a while, you're equals
But when things start to get difficult or it's just time to stop, he activates his Sharingan
You know you had no chance against it
Yet you don't give up
It almost always ends up with him trapping you on the ground with your hands on your back like a rebel student or tied with a rope, upside down, on a tree
You don't speak to him for an entire day
Then you say sorry to each other and start a makeout session
You stay in peaceful terms for a few days until it starts again 😏😂

why do you like emma so much? the author depicted her as weak, whiny, only interested in love and always in need of protection, there are stronger girls in the story and emma is the kind of female character we don't need 👎 i hate people who praise her when the character's so dull
Hi, anon... Just a little reminder: in my pinned I expressly said that kindness is very important to me. Maybe it's just my impression and I hope I don't come off as self-defensive, but I don't think the overall tone of this ask falls within the definition of "kind", so please, next time you want to express your opinion I'd appreciate if you'd do it using more proper manners and less misunderstandable tones. Thank you in advance.
Now, I respect everyone's opinions, always, but seriously I don't know what you expect me to say here. The name of my blog is literally drakenxemma, I post about tokrev and Draken and Emma on a daily basis because I love them a not normal amount. What's the point in coming here to spit some hate on a character that did nothing wrong and that I love a lot?
To answer you:
"weak" - FALSE Emma goes through a lot throughout her life and, guess what, she's the strongest because she deals with her own burdens as well as her loved ones' burdens and never loses herself, showing great strength of mind. She's abandoned by her mother, she loses her brother Shinichiro, she sees Mikey gradually descending into pain and darkness and does her best to keep everything together. She won't let all these traumatic events turn her bad, she will stay true to herself until the very end. And this is a form of strength totally worthy of respect, whether you like it or not. Plus, if you think that being strong just means being able to kick and punch (which is a very toxic belief, if you ask me), don't forget that Emma is most likely strong from that point of view too, since, as a child, she took martial arts lessons just like Shin and Mikey.
"whiny" - FALSE When and where? I don't even know what you're talking about here. She literally takes care of the people she loves, she never abandons them and is very loyal to them without faltering. The only instance in which she complains about something is when Draken doesn't give her the attention she dreams of, and it's totally normal and understandable and absolutely consistent with her age and her feelings.
"only interested in love" - FALSE Emma does not only care about romance with Draken. She cares about her brother, she loves her family and friends as much as Mikey does. She protects and helps Hina, she supports Takemichi, she takes care of Mikey and stands up for Draken, etc. And yes, she's in love with Draken and wants to be his girlfriend, she dreams of a love story with him. What's wrong with it? What's the harm in a girl who's interested in love? Let me tell you, this is just another toxic belief: considering a female character "having feelings" as weak and whiny (just because girls are always depicted as more interested in romantic stuff unlike boys) literally means that you unconsciously accepted that much-hated distinction between what's masculine and what's feminine, you're the one falling into the gender roles trap. Can you see where is the problem? The problem is that having feelings and showing them is not a flaw by default, it becomes a flaw when the reader decides that a female character is only valid when she does manly things because said reader actually thinks there's a distinction between what girls and boys should do. This mindset is toxic as hell, it's internalized misogyny and you can't even see it. If you believe (as I hope) that Draken was wrong to think that feelings would make him weak, then you should only accept that Emma being interested in love is not a problem at all. We hate double standards in this house. Boys as much as girls should be allowed to have feelings, with no preconceptions. If a boy has feelings he is not weak, because feelings are for everyone. And if a girl has feelings she is not weak, for the exact same reasons, and also because considering love a "girly" thing is wrong on many levels since what you're saying is that girly=weak which is utterly offensive and ignorant on the reader's part. Does portraying a girl interested in love strengthen the idea that romance is just for girls? Probably, if you can't read with critical thinking. In my opinion it's just up to the reader. Am I saying that the author creates perfect female characters? No, not perfect, they're just good and valid considering the expectations, and also compatible with the setting, the early 2000s gangs, the delinquency environment etc.
"always in need of protection" - FALSE The fact that Draken and Mikey want to protect her doesn't mean she demands protection or anything. Draken and Mikey's will is one thing, Emma's needs are another. And don't forget that, as Mikey's sister, Emma being in danger and an easy target is just a matter of fact.
"there are stronger girls in the story" - FALSE Let's rephrase it: there are strong girls in the story. Each one in their own wonderful way. That "stronger" you used is so so sad, actually. It's as if you're putting girls into competition, which is a big NO. Not even the author does that, why would you? Wakui literally wrote the cutest friendship between Hinata and Emma, even after that equivocal beginning. And Yuzuha, Akane, Senju, all the girls have their own stories and qualities.
"the kind of female character we don't need" - FALSE Maybe you don't need this kind of female character. I very much need a character who makes a unifying force out love, I very much need a character who's strong enough to fight for love and loved ones, I very much need a character who's not afraid to show her feelings, I very much need a character who can cry, I very much need and very much appreciate a character who's strong enough to never let the events corrupt her heart.
"dull" - FALSE Please, re-read everything.
Anon, seriously, I respect the fact that you don't like the character, I am nobody to change your opinion. I truly respect and like different perspectives, it's just that, personally, I can't be in agreement with the reasons given. And I hope my answer was clear enough (I'm sorry, but english is not my first language 🙏🏻). Let me know if you understood my points, I'll try to re-explain if something isn't clear.

Sannin headcanons and thoughts
The last thing I would like to post for the sannin week. It is still 24.04 here! :D @sannin-central
This is long. Spoiler alert. Mostly Orochimaru, some Tsunade, a little of Jiraiya (because his story is pretty clear and spoken and idk what I can add). Also I recommend to read this meta about Orochimaru, it has influenced me a lot and has some good points. Sorry for any posible grammar mistakes. Also I really should put here a lot of references to the manga or anime but it was something that was piling up for a year and I'm soooooooo lazy. After all, those are just headcanons. Also: Im not excusing Oro's bad stuff here, Im trying to understand the reasons.
Ive already posted some hcs, here, here and here.
1. First if all, the chronology pic of sannin lifetime based on the info i found on naruto wiki and also some statements about wars from this post. It was tough considering what a mess naruto’s chronology is.
2. Sannin story shows what it cost to be a legend. They're like Team 7 but more realistic. Tsunade literally carried the war but left with nothing and developed a ptsd and have problems to just live on. Also anger control issues. I think she can be pretty bossy and stubborn which is not always nice. Jiraiya is the hero of the day but also very idealistic and can ignore some important details in the real word whether its the fight (he always injured during flashbacks maybe because each time he took too much to handle and on the one hand it's heroistic but on the other is a mistake that can lead your team to situations like in that Iwa cave) or your friends issues (I bet he saw what's going on but thought it's fine until Oro actually got red handed and left). He lives in his world and may have problems to get out to see it through someone else's shoes. As for Orochimaru, it seems like he was a normal guy for 20+ years (I mean, he didn't do crazy criminal shit and had something good in him and it was stated somewhere that it was his teammates influence. It is obvious they considered him as a friend, I don't thinks it was for nothing) but we mostly know his darkest side. Despite being a moster he is a human that have empathy and some ordinary human traits (man just decorates every bit of an environment he is in lol).
3. Tsunade was the leader of team Hiruzen.
4. Tsunade sometimes hit Jiraiya for some stupid things he did or said but never touches Orochimaru even if he did something same. Jiraiya complained about it once and almost got another hit.
5. Jiraiya had problematic parents that didn't care about him much and a lot of time he was wandering in the streets.
6. Judging by the look of Oro bangs and hair, he sometimes cut it off. A stress relief huh? And the fact that he doesn't do it now in Boruto..
7. It was shown that Tsunade and Orochimaru was acknowledged before they become a team. Maybe they did just before, or maybe some longer time before. I prefer the second option and hc that they met because both had no real friends - Orochimaru seemed weird and scary for everyone and Tsunade was Senju so everyone wanted to hang out with her but didn't really care. They weren't seen as what they were - people put the labels on them. But they didn't care about each other's labels and actually saw each other in true lights.
8. Tsunade knew it was an accident and it's not right but still she blamed Orochimaru for Nawaki's death for some time. It was something that seriously damaged their friendship and the team. Orochimaru was mad but also guilty, after all, he was responsible at least as a shinobi since Nawaki was under his watch. So he started to act cold and emotionless and was trying to distance himself from his teammates.
9. Jiraiya was in Ame while Dan died.
10. The whole his orphans mission was a bit irresponsible tbh. They already fought Hanzo and as he stated the conflict between Konoha and Ame is going to an end with Konoha's win. It's weird to stay here for three years in the middle of the war while there were other lands to fight. He left his teammates for some idea. Maybe that caused another crack in their team friendship.
11. If Tsunade would have find a way to live on with her trauma and follow the will of fire and stuff it would affect Orochimaru as well just as her grief affected him. It's like he would get an example that you can live on with this pain. So death isn't above human capability and we are not just the slaves of mortality (sounds stupid but i dont know how else to describe sorry). But as we know what he actually saw is that it broke her crucially to the point she couldnt be herself again. And so the death is above everything.
12. Oro wasn’t just acting as a cold pragmatic bitch in that cave but also tried to save Tsunade. Jiraiya knew it and that’s why he showed this sign to him like "I see what youre doing here" and that stunned Oro because he would prefer to look rather like a cold pragmatic bitch hehe
13. Just a thought. People in the village probably treated Oro as a foreigner or just wouldnt accept him because he looked so differently and had a weird attitude. That's why he sometimes didn't feel that Konoha is his home. After the wars where people were treated as means and tools, even the children, he himself developed this view on people - he dehumanized them and used as the means to his goals, just as his village did. Funny thing some people were straightly dehumanizing him too like Ibiki thought that he was a demon (tho he was a child). And he probably weren't the only one. Anyways the point is that it's logical that Orochimaru don't care about anybody but some few people, he's the product of his era. He's like Naruto that would chose the hatred way. But naruto had some good and understanding people around him and.. Orochimaru had them too, but match how Iruka treated Naruto and this Hiruzen's "I sAw tHe mAliCe in This cHiLd fRoM tHe BegGinNinG". And oro didn't even have a big ass evil fox in him. sry i hate hiruzen
ANYWAYS the moral of the story is not "go criminal if they hurt you" but always treat people like people. Waving my hand to Kant.
14. The reason why Orochimaru didn't pick some good morals to stick with through the hard times no matter what (like, idk, Jiraiya or Naruto) is because 1) I think he is/was pretty depending on people around him 2) the war fucked him and his friends up too much (Nawaki incident + Tsunade) 3) twisted addictions (though I don't think he's that sadistic, we never saw him torturing randoms just for fun, it was always some science experimental shit. He tends to get fun out of cruelty only when it's personal) that maybe developed as a way to sublimate anger and sadness caused by his parents loss (that's what they share with sasuke - unlicke naruto, they knew their parents and it's other kind of pain. Sasuke developed a revenge issue and Orochimaru - cruelty pleasure which... is kinda the same but less epic and more occasional lol).
15. Speaking of that, Orochimaru cared for Sasuke because he saw himself in him.
16. Oro hold grudges against Hiruzen for not choosing him to be Hokage not only because he was ambitious and/or egoistic, but also because Hiruzen was some kind of a father figure for him and his approval was important tho i doubt he was aware of that. He also probably could tell that Hiruzen was suspicios about him when he was a child and that led to many conflicts and was hurting as well.
17. Tsunade knew things weren't pretty with Orochimaru after the wars but she never expected them to be this bad. During the week that she was given in her arc she thought not only about how much she wants to see Nawaki and Dan again despite how wrong would it be but also was trying to bury all the good memories she had left of Orochimaru so it would be easier to kill him.
18. She poisoned Jiraiya exactly because she knew he would not let her do it. Jiraiya was always hesitant to kill and inclined to forgiveness, while Tsunade, as mentioned by Orochimaru, could be merciless (so much so that he was not surprised when Kabuto suggested that she wanted to use Jira for Edo Tensei).
19. That was one of her traits that scared Jiraiya and fascinated Orochimaru.
20. Remember how Oro grabbed Jiraiya's neck when the latter was trying to cover with hair jutsu? On the snake, in Tsnade's arc. Orochimaru could have easily kill Jiraiya by pulling the sword out of the mouth (arteries are right there) but he didn't. As well as he could kill Tsunade when she was still shaking - just aim for the neck or the heart. Instead, he just injured her lung and kicked her which is not a big deal for the kind of shinoby like her at all.. Also he helped Anko not accidentally kill herself but it would be way much profitable to let her do it. "Orochimaru has no feelings".
21. The reason he suddenly wanted to kill Tsunade instead of forcing her to heal his arms as it was planned (which is weird since it will not going to get him heals and he kinda said that he wouldn't want to kill her just minutes ago) is that not only she refused to help him (he thought he could work it out) but she also prefered the village over him (from his point of view). Out if everyone she was the closest to being able to understand him since the village caused her painful losses too but nevertheless she agreed to be on it's side.
22. He wasn't fighting her back in the end partly because he thought he deserved that. Somewhere deep inside hahah.
23. Tsunade got a fear to develop deep bonds so they probably weren't very close with Shizune (also the way she knocked her down in this hotel.. oh).
24. Orochimaru will be here when she'll die.
25. Orochimaru's eng dub to Tsunade: "I often wondered what it would be like to ring that pretty neck yours". No comments.
26. Orochimaru is either bi/pan or ace. Anything or nothing lmao
27. Hiruzen knew about at least some of the Oro’s illegal experiments and was okay just as he was okay with the Foundation all the time. Because it’s useful. Then he has discovered he went too far OR he knew everything and oro just became too inconvenient because of his methods. The way Orochimaru tells Sasuke about reasons they are well treated as the criminals is based on in his experience with Hiruzen.
28. As you may know the lyrics in Orochimaru’s music theme goes “don’t talk with the silence of the heart”. It was taken from one Indian song that also had lines like “don’t question life too much”, ”pain arose somewhere in the chest”, “don’t speak to the wounds of the heart”. Though I’m not sure 100% because I was translating it with some hindi dictionary with like zero knowledge of hindi
29. I like to think that this “silence of the heart” theme and the fact that he called his village a hidden sound village are somehow connected. The hidden sound is the possible explanation of all things waiting to be listened to but the truth is silent and you know it deep in your heart and it bothers you. The world is silent just like the life is meaningless but people can only hear. *Sigh* anyways
30. Orochimaru’s journey is the one about accepting death. When he saw Karin released her chains while was trying to get to Sasuke he understood that the death is a part of human’s strength.
Can’t wait to feel that everything I wrote is wrong or not enough or stupid and obvious lol. Anyways, it’s something that I wanted to share until I move to some other fandom.

selling burgers!!
about: hcs of tokyo revengers characters basically working with my dad
a/n: this is extremely and painfully self indulgent, enjoy ig? bahwhuehej also i write then bounce, im off and online for now
warnings: manga characters!!
mikey has personal matters with the fire, he would smack the grill and probably the patty and either my dad or draken has to shout at him to stop
the girls especially emma would hate the popping oil everytime the eggs settle in, it's pretty questionable when they walk away for a sec only to come back to it afterwards (nah actually i dont blame them, oil is nasty)
kawata twins are professionals‼ my dad would likely ask what they do in their personal times and get to know them
(my dad would also ask why souta looks angry and nahoya would smile all the time, your guess on what their answers are)
takemitchy would be intimidated of my dad, eventhough damn well he'll just slap him on the back and chuckle if he accidently mess up an order
hanma scary, he would pop out of nowhere to greet me and bounce💀(my dad would think he's a whole adult rather than a teen)
baji would be too casual with the job but he tries his best to do all orders, there's probably a time where he burned patties twice
(dont worry baji i burned like 6 lamb patties, it's alright)
kazutora would kinda be glum there if there weren't any cats around, he secretly throws pieces of beef away to them
chifuyu has that ego of showing off but messes up the order if someone is staring at him (same chifuyu, same)
rindou likes doing the heavy lifting, probably makes fun of me when i can't reach for stuff
ran got that masterchef cutting when he's given mushrooms and tomatoes
peh yan would steal some burgers if he could, he just wishes the melted cheese wasn't that yummy cause goddamn it's expensive
pah chin gets stressed about the amount of customers but eventually he has to get over it (i feel it, just floods of customers coming makes me short circuit)
kisaki would boss me around😐😐 i say to my dad that he's bullying me (i don't have to worry anyways, he'll leave after two days😍)
not biased but mitsuya's perfect.. okay kidding he burns himself a lot because of the oil popping that i'm concerned, he reassures though while my dad laughs in the background for him to be careful (or a joke where he calls mitsuya a mummy if he keeps patching himself up too much)
okay for hanma, he's a little creep
he just rather watch me than do his own work cause he knows he can scare me with his presence brrr
uh as for koko, i dont know if he would work there because im sure he's rich enough to buy our whole business🏃♀️🏃♀️
welllll if he's nice enough maybe he'll transfer our business to a whole new one and to where it gains lots of attention
(you dont know with him, he can either be nice enough to promote or sell us off T0T)
inui would be tramautised by oil popping and flames (not like that but the other stove that we use is so angry at us for some reason)
for funsies, taiju would be there but 50 ft apart, why? cause i asked him too
i will give senju some egg burgers cause personally i feel like he likes them especially when they ooze (with a lot of cheese)
terano would probably break one of the pans if he wanted to
at the end of the day who helps clean up?
yuzuha, emma, hina, defitenely not akane, takemitchy, draken, chifuyu, kawata twins, mitsuya
who goes home immediately
hanma, kisaki (i know me and my dad are trash talking about him), rindou, ran, kazutora (would help but dip in the middle of it), inui (he thought everything's done so he just went home)
would ask for more burgers
pehyan, baji (he orders the seven stack burger and i death glare him all throughout the process), pah chin (after all that? he thinks he deserves a well deserved treat)
heavy lifting and stuff
terano (though he'll be a little scary at it)
pay people to do it or pay us to clean it up ourselves
kokonoi
who falls aslee- mikey.

Hello 💖Could you do Tusnade and Sakura with a s/o who wants to learn medical nin?
It’s been a while since I posted anything about this girls.
Tw: Yandere themes, possessiveness, obsessiveness
s/o wants to be a medic
Tsunade Senju
🐌I can imagine that Tsunade might feel a bit conflicted about this. On the one hand she feels totally fluttered that her darling wants to be a medic just like she is because let’s be honest, Tsunade is the one who inspired you to be one. But on the other hand she’s also a bit worried that her darling might get hurt. The common view on medics is that they need to stay back in fights. And we all know how the Hokage thinks about this. She believes that medics need to know how to fight because they’re so important for the team. But what if you get hurt on a mission? What if she can’t save you? These are just worried thoughts in her mind since she experienced it already twice that she couldn’t save her loved ones.
🐌Tsunade adores her darling a lot, but I can see her going pretty roughly from time to time on her darling. She of course knows when you’re about to collapse and will stop there, but she will certainly push your limits every once in a while. She does it because she wants you to be good in what you do. Of course you won’t only learn how to heal and perform complicated medic jutsus. You’ll be also teached how to fight and that’s where Tsunade will really become strict. She’s a bit paranoid since she already lost important people to her and on a battlefield there’s always the danger that something might go wrong. You need to know how to fight against strong opponents. If you can’t do that, you can be prepared that she’ll never let you go on missions. Instead you’ll have to live with working in a hospital for the rest of your life. Of course she won’t say anything against it, if that’s what you want. Would be even relieved, knowing that you will most likely never have to be put in direct danger.
Depending on where we are in the timeline there are also a bit different scenarios. If she trained you before Sakura, you would be some sort of assistant to her, a superior student who she would let teach the pink-haired girl from time to time too so you can gain experience. If you and Sakura started training around the same time, she might have a bit of a hard time since it’s somewhat obvious that she favors you. But Sakura will understand since she knows how important you are for Tsunade. If this is after Sakura started training and has already a lot more experience than you, than Sakura will sometimes teach you stuff with Tsunade watching from the side and Sakura will also of course always give you advices on how you can improve your skills.
🐌At one point you will start watching her when she does operations, assist most likely and learn by watching her. You yourself will most likely start with small surgeries with Tsunade keeping a hawks eye on you and instantly jumping in if you seem to have troubles. She wants you to improve, sure, but she won’t risk a patient’s life. But you are bound to improve with Tsunade as your teacher and after the first difficult surgery you pulled successfully off without her help, she most likely went with you for a sake night. I can see her teaching you how to use the Strenght of a Hundred seal and if you are good enough, you will most likely made her personal medic assistant. But no matter how good your jutsus are, she won’t let you go on missions with a high danger of being attacked by strong shinobi until she thinks that you are strong enough to fight on your own. It’s still clearly obvious that she favors you since she isn’t that strict and hard with you in comparison to all the other medics who work with her.
Sakura Haruno
🌸She would be definitely totally happy when she finds out that her darling wants to be a medic just like her and even more if they ask her personally for help. It makes her flustered with a slight blush on her face. She was most likely an inspiration for you since she used to be not the most outstanding, but managed to become one of the strongest shinobi and greatest healers known in the villages. Especially if you might have been similar to her when you used to be younger, more on the shy and not strong, but not weak side either, she would be somewhat your idol. If that is the case, Sakura would be even more fired up and motivated about teaching you since she sees a lot of her younger self in you.
🌸She has a lot of similarities to Tsunade, it was drilled into her during her long period of training. But the difference is that she is less intense and more mild than her sensei is. She would go hard on you, mainly because she’s determined to be a good teacher, especially if you asked her to help you, but she wouldn’t be as strict as Tsunade is. Different from Tsunade she won’t push you over your limits if you don’t feel like you can handle it anymore and need a small break. She isn’t as pushy as Tsunade is and will only try to encourage you to step over your limits and would be very proud of you try. Fighting will be teached as well and here again, she will be eager, but won’t go as hard on you as Tsunade. Most likely because she somewhat sympathizes with you, remembering her hard training with Tsunade.
🌸I definitely see Tsunade getting one way or another involved. It’s of course open to question whether Sakura called her over or Tsunade came looking for herself. I think there’s a chance that Sakura might have called Tsunade over herself since despite being confident in her abilities, she respects her sensei and feels like there might be certain things where Tsunade might bring the point over better than she can. But I can see it just as much that Tsunade might have decided to look after you and Sakura herself since Sakura used to be her student and she’s curious about how Sakura will train you, since Tsunade knows how much she loves you.
🌸But I feel like she would focus majorly on teaching you medic jutsus and everything involving it whilst Tsunade lays her focus equally on fighting and healing. For Sakura on the other hand it’s more important to teach you what you asked her for. That’s teaching you everything she knows as a medic. She would only after being sure that you are good enough with being a medic, start suggesting that you might start training Taijutsu with you. But before all of that she would approach this similar to how Tsunade did it, starting with the training with the fish until you’ve involved into watching in real life a surgery, most likely with her as the one leading the whole thing. Would afterwards explain to you every question that might have popped up during the operation. Sakura would let you most likely become at one point her personal assistant, still doing the most difficult parts for herself, but letting you do some smaller things like stitching wounds. Totally proud as well as so joyful for you when you finally did your first real surgery without anything going wrong and doing everything professionally. Would take you out on a small date as a celebration and would love it if you two would work more often together. Like this many conversations you two will have, will start being a lot more about patients you two recently had and will have in the future and mentioning complicated names from medicines and names of body parts and muscles that a normal citizen will not be able to understand. Not like any of you two care.

Sleep Over’s and Ghost Stories
AU: Rural Au
Words: 2289
Rating: General
Characters: Hatake Kakashi and Tenzo|Yamato
Warnings: Ghost stories, Mentions of blood.
Summary: Naruto informs Kakashi that he has invited his friends over for a sleepover at their ranch that night. Knowing he can’t do everything himself to get ready to host a bunch of kids, Kakashi calls in some help.
Warning wasn’t something that Naruto had given Kakashi a lot of that afternoon when he came running into the house after a long day of school and announced that he had invited his classmates over for a camping sleepover, tonight.
Any less warning and Kakashi might not have been able to secure any help for the night, leaving him to take care of all of the food prep, wood gathering, and other chores that needed to be done while Naruto took the trunk into town to get enough marshmallows to feed an army.
That was an understatement of course. It was more likely that they could feed all of Konoha with the number of Marshmallows he had bought. At least he had also thought ahead and gotten eggs and bacon for tomorrow’s breakfast, which Kakashi had no doubt he would be cooking.
Panicking over the amount of work that was being handed to him, and wanting someone there to help him out, Kakashi decided to call the best person to help him out for the night.
Gai had unfortunately informed him that he had to head into the city the next morning for a supply run, meaning Kakashi had to call his other best friend. An unpleasant call to make since he knew that Tenzo had planned to go to the lake tomorrow for a relaxing day by himself.
Thankfully with enough pleading and a promise to go to the lake next week with Tenzo, he finally secured some help for the night.
Which was how he ended up here. Setting up a bonfire for the kids while Tenzo and Naruto put out chairs for everyone.
“Did you buy enough non-marshmallow snacks?” He called over to Naruto, wanting to make sure that no one was left hungry tonight.
“I even made sure to pick up extra bags of everything for Choji,” Naruto beamed. “And I asked Choji to bring some snacks from the bakery, Sakura to grab some stuff from the general store, and Kiba’s even bringing some dog food because I told him it was the only way you’d let him pet Pakkun.”
This must be one of those ‘proud dad’ moments that Gai was always talking about.
Tenzo, on the other hand, didn’t seem as happy about Naruto’s underhandedness, judging by the unimpressed look on his face. “Some days I wonder how you two get along, and then moments like this happen,” crossing his arms over his chest he turned to glare at Kakashi. “Quit teaching him bad habits, Senpai.”
They both knew that was never going to happen of course. Kakashi loved teaching Naruto all of his worst habits. It ensured that there would always be someone in the village to mess with other people, even long after Kakashi was gone.
“I also asked Sasuke to bring some cat food,” Naruto added. “Once Kakashi Nii-san told me you were coming over to help. He said he could bring a bag of cat food that Itachi made himself. Something that your cats would love.”
Tenzo’s hands dropped to his side, a small smile pulling at the corner of his lips.
“I see,” his voice softened. “Still, you shouldn’t lie to Kiba to get free food for the dogs.”
“He’s right you know,” Kakashi added, smiling when Tenzo gave him a skeptical look. “But really it’s Kiba’s fault for believing you. Everyone knows Pakkun won’t let anyone pet him but me.”
Ok, him and Gai, and sometimes Tenzo depending on how nice the pug was feeling.
“Senpai, what did I just say about teaching him bad habits!?”
Resting his hands behind his head, Kakashi chuckled when Tenzo started to lecture him about the importance of friendship and trust. This wasn’t the first time he had gotten this exact lecture and there was no doubt in his mind that it wouldn’t be the last. Tenzo gave it to him at least once a week after he used his friends’ love of praise to get a free coffee or lunch out of him.
Meanwhile, Naruto continued to set everything up. Far too used to Kakashi and Tenzo’s arguments he had learned long ago to tune them out and keep doing whatever it was he was in the middle of.
It was simply better not to interrupt Tenzo, or one risked him dragging them into the lecture. Naruto was already lucky he wasn’t getting it alongside Kakashi since it had been his actions that upset the woodcarver.
“Oh!” reaching out, Kakashi placed one hand over Tenzo’s mouth to silence him and used the other to point towards the driveway. “Naruto, your friends are starting to arrive.”
Naruto immediately dropped what he was doing and turned towards the driveway, throwing his hands up into the air when he saw Itachi’s car pulling in beside Tenzo’s truck. “Sasuke!” He called out, running towards the driveway and leaving Kakashi and Tenzo to finish up with the bonfire set up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Once everything had been set up and all of Naruto’s school friends had finally arrived, it was finally time to relax and enjoy the rest of the night. At least, enjoy as much of the night as one could while Kiba was sitting beside him trying desperately to pet the pug dog sitting on his lap.
“He’s going to bite you,” he warned, chuckling when Kiba continued to ignore him and narrowly avoided getting his hand chomped by Pakkun. “I told you.”
“He’s supposed to love me,” Kiba huffed, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring down at Pakkun. “All dogs love me.”
“Pakkun’s a picky dog,” scratching the pug behind the ears, Kakashi chuckled when he instantly relaxed into his hand. Forgetting all about the mean teenager who had been interrupting his relaxing nap just seconds ago. “You have seven other dogs to play with on this ranch. I don’t see why you’re so determined about getting Pakkun to like you.”
“All dogs should like me,” planting his hands on the chair, Kiba glared back at Pakkun from the corner of his eyes. “I’m a dog person. All dogs love me.”
Giving his head a shake Kakashi turned his attention back to the rest of the group and continued to scratch Pakkun’s ear. It was amusing to see Kiba continuously trying to win his favourite dog over, but at some point, the kid had to give up.
When feeding Pakkun treats didn’t work, it was a lost cause. He had chosen his favourite human and he simply wasn’t interested in anyone to who Kakashi wasn’t incredibly close.
“We should do something interesting,” Glancing towards Tenzo, Kakashi raised an eyebrow when he saw him staring at Naruto and all of his friends huddled around the fire roasting marshmallows. “It’s too quiet. Something interesting has to happen.”
And Tenzo accused him of being a bad influence.
“Mmm, and what ‘interesting’ thing would you like to happen?” Watching as Tenzo leaned in close, Kakashi listened to his plan carefully. A small smile pulling at his lips.
This was going to be perfect.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Catching the attention of the kids hadn’t been as hard as Kakashi thought it would be. With the simple mention of a ghost story, he suddenly found himself surrounded by excited, bright-eyed kids waiting patiently for him to tell them the story.
Now he just had to hope that Tenzo was ready to put his plan into action.
“The tale of old man Tobirama, hmmm. Well, I guess you’re all old enough to hear it now. But don’t come crying to me if you end up having nightmares for years about it.”
“Kakashi, stop teasing us and tell us the story already.” Naruto insisted, puffing out his cheeks and glaring at his guardian.
“I bet it’s not even that scary,” Sakura commented, acting like she wasn’t leaning in to hear better. “‘Old man Tobirama’. There probably wasn’t even anyone named ‘Tobirama’ in our village.”
Oh, boy were they in for a surprise.
“Well, in the case,” leaning forward, Kakashi planted his hands on his knees and smiled down at the group. “Let me tell you the story of old man Tobirama. The grumpy old guy who lived in the old Senju ranch and would cook up children for dinner.”
At the mention of the Senju ranch, he could see the kids already starting to shake.
“Long ago, before I was even born, the Senju ranch was full of life. With a large family, parties every weekend, and a garden that could make anyone jealous. They were known for having the best fruits and vegetables in all of Konoha, though back then the village was a lot smaller so who knows how good they were.”
He’d probably get smacked by Tsunade for saying it, but it was worth it for the giggles he got from his audience.
“For the longest time, the Senju’s lived in the village peacefully. Mingling with the other villages, trading their fruits and veggies for other goods that they could use. But then one day the Senju’s just stopped coming into town. It was like they disappeared. No one knew what had happened to them, but there were rumors. Little whispers that floated around the village about the middle child, Tobirama.”
Naruto shivered in front of him, Sakura slinked behind Ino just a little, and Kiba used Bull as a shield from Kakashi. So far, none of the other kids were showing much of a reaction except for prompting Kakashi to continue with the story.
“For years the house lay empty. No one going in or out. It slowly started to decay and rot from the inside, and the garden became overgrown. Surrounding the house with vines, vegetables, and fruits. There wasn’t an inch of the place that was accessible. After fifty years the villagers finally got together and made a decision. The house had to come down.”
“This is boring,” Sasuke interrupted him. The same unimpressed look on his face that he always had when someone other than his big brother was talking. “Nothing is even happening.”
Giving his head a shake, Kakashi reached out and flicked Sasuke in the nose.
“Hasn’t Itachi taught you anything about patience, brat?” he teased. “I’m just getting to the good part. Now shush.”
Settling back into his seat, Kakashi returned his hand to Pakkun’s head and took a deep breath. “Anyways, the villagers had made their decision. They found a group of hard workers to tear down the old building and started to gather all of the equipment that they would need. A week later the workers were ready to head onto the property and start with the demolition. They hoped that it would only take a few days, but as the hours passed by, they slowly started to disappear one by one.”
Sakura was now completely hidden behind Ino, and it looked like Ino wasn’t doing much better. Her face had lost all colour, and her eyes were wide with fear.
Naruto had slowly begun to inch away from Kakashi, using any of his friends that were readily available as a shield between himself and his guardian. Hinata was cowering behind her favourite hoodie, only her eyes visible.
The only people who didn’t look fazed by his story were Sasuke, Shikamaru, and Shino. None of which were a surprise given their personalities.
He just had to hope that Tenzo pulled through and managed to fix that.
“By the end of the day the only person left was a young woman. Desperate to find the rest of her group she searched the entire house. Looking in every bedroom, searching the yard and even the attic. But no matter how often she called out to them, or where she looked, she couldn’t find them anywhere. Finally, she was left with only one place to look. The old cellar under the kitchen.”
There were a few mummers in the crowd, and at least one ‘not the cellar’ spoken in a whisper somewhere behind Shikamaru.
“Pulling up all of her courage, she headed for her new destination. The door to the cellar creaked as she pulled it open, but when she peered down there was nothing but darkness. She called out to the others, but no one answered.”
Naruto shifted a bit closer to Sasuke, nudging his shoulder until the Uchiha finally gave in and threw an arm around him.
“Taking the first step down the stairs, she held her breath. The stories villagers had told her growing up swimming in her mind. Images of Senju Tobirama, a teenager with bright silver hair and angry red eyes, wielding a bloody ax in his hands. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t get rid of those thoughts, and every step she took down into the cellar felt like it would be her last. But finally, she made it to the bottom of the stairs and reached out for the cellar lights pull cord, hoping to add some light to the room. Finding it in the pitch black, she tugged at it and…”
“She was met with the face of Senju Tobirama!” Jumping up behind the kids, Tenzo flashed the light under his chin and warped his face into the most haunting face he could manage. With wide creepy eyes, and his mouth hanging open with what Kakashi could only assume was ketchup smeared all over his chin, Tenzo sent every single one of the kids scattering. Screams filled the air, only slightly drowned out by Kakashi and Tenzo’s laughter.
If Kakashi had been smart he would have brought a camera. There was no way Itachi was going to believe him the next morning when he told him about the look of absolute terror on Sasuke’s face.

Four Times Kakashi and Naruto Spy on Sakura, and the One Time She Returns the Favour
1.
The tree branch that Naruto is currently perched on bobs up and down precariously; struggling with the combined weight of him and Kakashi-sensei, who was situated behind him, closer to where the branch connected to the trunk of the tree. The two of them attempt to stay as still as they possibly can, praying that Sakura and Sasuke cannot hear the leaves rustling from where they’re training on the ground.
Now, Naruto isn’t one to spy on the private affairs of his close friends—
Wait, no, that’s exactly like him. It isn’t like Kakashi-sensei to be spying on the private affairs of his former students, and he wouldn’t be, if it weren’t for the fact that Naruto had pulled him out of the Hokage’s Residence, screaming that Sakura-chan had a not-so secret lover.
See, late yesterday evening, at Yakiniku Q, Sakura had announced to all of Konoha 11 that she was seeing someone but that she wouldn’t disclose who exactly it was.
Naturally, that meant Naruto had to get to the bottom of this and figure out the identity of Sakura’s mysterious, new lover.
He had his suspicions on who he thought her lover was but he wouldn’t know for sure until he had some irrefutable evidence.
Which is why, he is currently sitting on a tree branch that’s overlooking Senju Park, where Sakura and Sasuke were sparring, with Kakashi-sensei sitting behind him.
In his defense, after Shizune had ordered both him and Kakashi-sensei bed rest, the two of them had gotten a little stir crazy.
While he was escorting Kakashi to Suna, the two of them had been ambushed by a group of rogue-nin. Luckily for Konoha, they didn’t seem to be a part of any bigger conspiracy threatening the village, so the attack had been deemed insignificant. The two of them had gotten rid of the rogue-nin easily but not without sustaining some injuries; a broken leg for Naruto and a broken arm for Kakashi-sensei. When they came home a week earlier than planned, Shizune had forced the both of them to take the next month off, pulling Naruto off of active jonin duty and temporarily taking over Kakashi’s responsibilities as Hokage.
“You really think it’s Sasuke that she’s seeing?” Kakashi whispers as he tries to get a view of what’s happening on the ground.
“It has to be.” Naruto says as he watches Sakura easily block Sasuke’s fist, “She’s been in love with him since before the Academy.”
Naruto feels the weight of the branch dip as Kakashi-sensei shifts closer. Straining his neck, he tries to look over Naruto’s shoulder to catch a glimpse of his former students.
“What are they doing now?” he asks.
“I think it’s only taijutsu right now.” Naruto answers, “Oh, and she just choke-slammed him into the ground. How romantic.”
“I don’t think she’s dating Sasuke.” he argues, “I mean, you have to admit he was so rude to her when they were kids, surely her feelings for him would have worn—”
Sakura holds out a hand to Sasuke, who’s currently sprawled on the ground. As she pulls him up, Naruto can just barely see the way Sakura’s mouth is moving; clearly talking about something.
“Shh!” he says to Kakashi-sensei, “They’ve stopped training. I think they’re talking about something. I’m gonna try and get closer.”
Wrapping his hands around the wood in front of him, Naruto inches his butt off bit by bit before hauling himself further down the branch.
“Naruto, no, the branch is gonna—”
CRACK!
From beneath him, Naruto feels the flimsy end of the branch give away and snap.
“Ahh!”
He tries to get his hands on anything to keep him from dropping but to no avail. Scrunching his eyes shut, Naruto braces himself for impact, desperately praying that he’ll be too injured for Shizune and Sakura to lecture him about doing stupid stuff.
Then, he feels long fingers wrap around his good ankle.
Suspended in mid-air, Naruto swings his upper half up to find Kakashi-sensei sitting on the sturdy end of the branch, barely being able to hold on to Naruto’s leg when he can only use one of his arms.
“Kakashi-sensei? Naruto?”
Looking down towards the ground, he spots Sakura and Sasuke staring up at the two of them hanging off of a tree branch. They tilt their heads to the side in unison as they study the scene in front of them.
“What are you two doing in a tree?” Sakura asks, beyond confused.
“Um, y’know, we were, uh,” Naruto sputters, “Kakashi-sensei was teaching me how to— Tell them what you were teaching me.”
“Maa, you see, Naruto and I were just— shunshin no jutsu!”
All Sakura and Sasuke are left with is a puff of smoke where Kakashi and Naruto were.
“What was that all about?” Sakura asks.
2.
The next time Naruto assumes he’s figured out the identity of Sakura’s secret boyfriend, him and Kakashi-sensei are eating at Ichiraku’s for lunch.
Sitting in the outdoor seating area of the newly expanded Ramen Ichiraku, Naruto breaks apart both his and Kakashi’s set of chopsticks. He sets his own aside before he uses Kakashi-sensei’s to collect some noodles from his respective bowl.
“I got it.” he declares as he brings the steaming noodles up to Kakashi’s still masked face.
At Naruto’s actions, Kakashi wrinkles his nose.
“I still have one good arm.” he reminds as he eyes the chopsticks warily, “And what do you get?”
“Stop with the dramatics, I already know what your face looks like,” Naruto says as he rolls his eyes, “And it’s Kiba.”
He huffs in annoyance but relents by looking around to see if anyone is paying attention to them. Once he’s made sure that no one is, he hooks his finger at the top of his mask and tugs it down to reveal his face.
Heat spreads across the bridge of Naruto’s nose as he averts his gaze to the noodles at the end of the chopsticks he’s still holding. Without warning, he shoves them into Kakashi’s mouth, pointedly ignoring the indignant spluttering coming from the older man.
Naruto would like to be able to say that he isn’t affected by the sight of his former sensei’s face but that would make him a liar, and he tries to keep his lying to a minimum.
The truth is that Kakashi-sensei makes Naruto’s heart pound, even when he’s got his mask on.
“What’s Kiba?” Kakashi asks, after swallowing down the food.
Dipping the chopsticks back into the bowl, Naruto retrieves some more noodles before bringing it up to Kakashi’s face. Before he can push it into his mouth, Kakashi-sensei wraps his free fingers around Naruto’s wrist to steady him and stop him from stabbing the roof of his mouth. He uses his grip to bring the noodles to his face far more gently than Naruto would have.
The unexpected touch makes him falter.
“Sakura’s new boyfriend.” he says, once he’s gotten over the shock.
“Why would it be Kiba?”
Speak of the devil.
From over Kakashi’s shoulder, Naruto spots the aforementioned man walking out of Yamanaka Flowers holding a bouquet of pure white lilies in one hand and what seems to be a picnic basket in the other, Akamaru trailing behind him like always.
Naruto watches as he waves at someone two shops down and follows his line of sight to find none other than Haruno Sakura at the end of it.
Nudging Kakashi-sensei with his elbow, he nods his head towards Kiba and Sakura.
“What is he doing?” he mumbles as he lets go of Naruto’s wrist.
Silently, they watch Sakura and Kiba exchange a couple of words before they begin to walk away together, rubbing shoulders as they make their way over to Senju Park.
“Let’s go follow them.” Kakashi-sensei says while tugging his mask back up.
“But, the ramen!”
Shaking his head, Kakashi quickly pulls out his wallet and lays down a couple of bills before shoving Naruto’s crutch into his hands.
“Later!” he exclaims as he stands up, motioning for Naruto to hurry and get up as well.
Naruto lets out a defeated sigh. He places the crutch pad beneath his armpit and hauls himself off of his seat, resigning himself to listen to Kakashi.
With only three functioning legs between the two of them, Kakashi and Naruto manage to hobble over to the park at a relatively quick pace. Once they arrive, they huddle behind a tree, only peaking their heads over the side of it.
Chancing a glance upwards, Naruto realizes it's the tree he was hanging off of just the other day.
“Look.” Kakashi-sensei whispers from above him, bringing Naruto’s attention back to the couple in front of them.
Scratching the back of his head nervously, Kiba hands Sakura the bouquet of white lilies. She takes a whiff of them and says something that makes the tension in Kiba’s body melt away.
“I told you!” Naruto whisper-screams, “He’s handing her flowers, that has to mean something.”
As Kiba hands over the picnic basket to Sakura, Akamaru nudges his snout into the back of his knee. The action must be indicative of something because soon Kiba is dashing away from Sakura, who only looks amused.
“Why is he leaving?” Kakashi questions.
“Maybe he forgot the drinks or something.” he suggests.
Setting aside the bouquet, Sakura pulls a blanket out of the picnic basket before placing it on top of the grass. Soon, she begins to pull out various items including dishes, cutlery, meals, and much to Naruto’s dismay, drinks.
“It’s a tad bit rude to leave your date to set up everything.” Kakashi comments.
As a final touch, Sakura yanks out a single flower from the bouquet and pulls off the petals to spread around the picnic. From beside her, Akamaru barks in approval, earning him a pat on the head.
“Well, Kiba is kinda dumb about these things.”
“Coming from you.” Kakashi snorts.
“Hey!”
“Shh!” he whispers, “I think he’s coming back.”
In the distance, Naruto can hear the faint, familiar voice of Kiba’s as the man makes his way back to the picnic.
Sakura seemingly comes to the same realization but for some reason, she begins to dart away from her date.
“Wait, why is she running away?” Naruto asks.
Then, he feels Kakashi’s gloved hand smack him upside the head.
“Ow!” he exclaims, only to be promptly shushed by Kakashi-sensei, “What’d you do that for?”
“Because Kiba isn’t going out with Sakura, he’s going out with Hinata.” Kakashi explains as he looks down at him, “He probably needed Sakura’s help, that’s it.”
Looking back out towards the picnic, Naruto realizes Kakashi-sensei’s right because instead of Sakura, Hinata is now the one holding the bouquet of lilies as she hugs Kiba tightly.
“Naruto, Kakashi-sama.” he hears someone whisper.
Jumping out of his skin, Naruto opens his mouth to scream only to be silenced by Kakashi’s hand. They slowly shuffle around to find all of Konoha 11, sans Kiba and Hinata and including Sakura, standing in front of them.
At the front of the group is Shino, looking as creepy as usual.
“Shino.” Kakashi-sensei greets politely as he releases Naruto’s mouth, “And please drop the honourifics.”
“Are you here to watch Kiba and Hinata’s youthful date as well?” Lee pipes up.
“Oh, yes, that is why we are here,” Naruto lies, very obviously, “No other reason, whatsoever.”
“But we have to go now, we’re very busy,” Kakashi-sensei adds, “Y’know how it is for the Rokudaime and the future Nanadaime. Busy, busy, busy.”
Before the two of them can push past the group to leave, Shikamaru stops them in their path with a question.
“But, Shizune-san ordered you bed rest and gave you the month off?”
Naruto and Kakashi freeze up for a moment.
“Oh, did she?” Naruto questions as he stares up at Kakashi with panic in his eyes.
Swiftly, Kakashi loops Naruto’s free arm over his shoulder to support his weaker side as he silently urges the man to move quicker.
“Well, we’ll just go and double check with her.” he says as the two of them make their exit, ignoring the suspicious looks they’re getting.
3.
The third time Naruto thinks he’s finally discovered who is Sakura’s new lover, he isn’t even actively trying to.
Him and Kakashi-sensei are walking the ninken together through the forest. Well, actually, it’s more like the dogs are walking themselves. And also, Naruto isn’t really walking, he’s forcing Kakashi to give him a piggyback ride, using his uninjured arm to hold onto the back of Naruto’s knee, while Naruto tightens his other leg around Kakashi’s hip.
His excuse is that he’s tired but really, he just likes the closeness.
Settling his chin on top of Kakashi’s shoulder on his uninjured side, Naruto lets out a pleased sigh as he soaks up the sun shining down on them. He closes his eyes and ignores the undeniable sounds of Bull and Akino playing catch with his crutch.
“Why did you come out with me if you knew you were going to get tired?” Kakashi-sensei complains.
“So you can carry me.” he answers lazily, “Dattebayo.”
“Might I remind you that I also have a broken appendage.” Kakashi says, jostling his arm cast for emphasis before letting it hang limp by his side again, “It probably doesn’t do me well to carry you.”
“Don’t act like it hurts, old man.” he retorts as he lifts his head up to peer at Kakashi’s face, “I’m doing half the work here. And I’ve seen you toss an enemy with multiple kunai sticking out of you.”
“It was one kunai.”
Naruto lets out a hum in response, closing his eyes once more. His ears honing in on the sounds of the ninken yipping around them and Kakashi-sensei’s rhythmic steps.
Then, the dogs begin to quiet down and Kakashi comes to a halt. Without the noises of the ninken, Naruto can hear some voices not too far away.
He opens his eyes to find Lee and Sakura in a clearing together. Lee does a handstand as he reads questions aloud from a medical textbook. In front of him, Sakura paces around as she spits out answer after answer, in a rapid fire sequence.
“Oh my God.” Naruto whispers as he excitedly smacks Kakashi's shoulder, “Lee’s always had a thing for, he’s probably the guy she’s seeing. It makes so much sense now.”
“Is he… quizzing her on medicine?” Kakashi questions as he tilts his head to the side.
“Romance looks different now than it did in your time.”
“I wouldn’t know.” Kakashi mumbles as he stares ahead at the young couple, “I’ve never really dated anyone.”
At the admission, Naruto’s jaw drops open. He grabs a hold of Kakashi-sensei’s chin and forces the man to look him in the eyes.
“Seriously?” he asks.
“Yeah,” Kakashi answers, shrugging, “I just, never had the time, I guess.”
That should be a crime against humanity!
How is it possible that Kakashi-sensei has never dated anyone in his life? There’s a long line up of girls (+Naruto) that would kill to have a chance with him. He’s probably the most attractive person in all of the village, and that’s with his mask on. If he took it off, he would easily be the most attractive person on Earth.
He’s so caught up in his thoughts that he doesn’t notice Lee, still walking on his hands, and Sakura approaching them.
“Kakashi-sama! Naruto-kun!” Lee greets with the same amount of energy as always, “Has the springtime of your youth brought you here?”
Slipping his chin out of Naruto’s fingers, Kakashi turns to look at them, wincing at the -sama added to his name.
“Something like that,” he says, “Um, Lee, why are you helping Sakura study?”
Lee hops off of his hands and does a round off onto his feet before answering his question.
“Sakura-chan is in her prime and would like to open up a mental health clinic for children impacted by the war with Ino.” Lee explains, “In order to do so, she must educate herself to the fullest extent.”
“Kakashi-sensei, you approved my proposal,” Sakura reminds him, “You know about this.”
“Oh, right.”
Naruto lightly flicks him on the side of his forehead.
“Idiot.” he mutters.
“Sakura-chan has been ever so generous to help me with my chakra control, so I decided I would help her study.” Lee adds on.
“What are you two doing?” Sakura questions.
“Walking the pack.” Kakashi answers.
Right on cue, the ninken begin to race around their legs; yipping and yapping in excitement as Lee begins to pet as many of them as he possibly can.
“You two have been awfully close lately.” Sakura says to him and Kakashi, even though she’s looking at Lee.
Wiggling their eyebrows around, Lee and Sakura seem to have a silent conversation. Then, the two of them reach some sort of a conclusion and turn their heads to stare at Naruto and Kakashi-sensei.
“What?” Naruto questions.
Sakura just sighs.
4.
It isn’t even Naruto who tries to figure out who could be Sakura’s boyfriend the fourth time around.
With his injured leg resting in Kakashi’s lap, he and the older man sit on the wooden benches near the gates of Konoha. Naruto passes the time by doodling on Kakashi-sensei’s cast, occasionally humming a little melody to himself and opening his mouth for Kakashi to pop a grape into.
“It’s Shikamaru.” Kakashi announces all of a sudden.
It takes Naruto’s brain a minute before he realizes what he’s referring to.
“It can’t be.” he shoots down, “He’s with Temari.”
“Think about it,” he says, “Sakura can’t tell us because Shikamaru still needs to tell people he broke up with Temari.”
The theory sounds outlandish, even to Naruto.
“He hasn’t broken up with Temari, though.” he points out as he continues to scribble away on plaster.
“To our knowledge.” Kakashi says as he brings a grape up to Naruto’s face, “Ahh.”
Even though his face burns in embarrassment, Naruto opens up his mouth to accept the grape. With all the Icha Icha books he’s read, he’s not sure how Kakashi doesn’t realize the romantic connotation behind feeding someone.
Then, again, Kakashi hasn’t ever experienced a real relationship.
The thought of that makes him sad; the idea of Kakashi spending his whole life alone, lonely.
Naruto thinks he’s done enough of that for a lifetime.
“You never had feelings for anyone?” Naruto asks as he stops drawing.
Kakashi looks startled at his question but quickly regains his composure.
“There was this one person,” he says before promptly shaking his head, “But, it would’ve never happened.”
He ignores the ache in his chest at the news of Kakashi loving someone else.
“Do I know them?” Naruto asks.
“Naruto…” he warns, fixing him with a look.
Kakashi opens up his mouth to say something else but something must steal away his attention because nothing audible comes out. Finding Kakashi’s line of sight, he follows it back to find him staring over his shoulder and towards the gates, where Temari is standing with a couple of Suna shinobi.
“I bet you Shikamaru asked her to come here so he can break up with her.” Kakashi mumbles.
“That’s so mean, making a woman come all the way out here just to tell her you don’t love her anymore.”
Soon, the informal delegation is greeted by the appearance of Shikamaru and Sakura. In the most inconspicuous way possible, Kakashi and Naruto stare as Temari laughs at something Sakura says before pulling her into a hug.
“You know Shikamaru,” Kakashi says, “He can’t be bothered.”
As Sakura pulls out of the hug, Temari quickly draws Shikamaru in for a kiss.
“I don’t think that’s how you greet your ex-girlfriend in front of your current girlfriend.” Naruto says, smirking.
Rolling his eyes, Kakashi shoves a handful of grapes into his mouth.
As Naruto attempts to not choke on the fruit, Temari, Sakura, and Shikamaru approach them with knowing looks on their face for God-knows-what reason.
“Naruto. Kakashi-sama.” Temari greets warmly.
“Temari, and please, drop the honourifics.”
Beside her, Shikamaru darts his eyes back and forth between him and Kakashi, before nodding at Sakura.
“What is, Shikamaru?” Naruto asks once he’s finished swallowing down the grapes.
“Nothing.” he says, “Just making an observation.”
+1.
The scent of alcohol is heavy in the air as Naruto sits on the floor in front of his coffee table. Beside him, Kakashi-sensei listens intently to his ramblings as Naruto draws around wildly on a piece of paper in order to visualize what he’s saying.
“See, both Lee and I liked Sakura, who liked Sasuke, who only ever had eyes for vengeance.” Naruto says as he draws long lines extending between the poorly drawn portraits of his friends, “Meanwhile, both Ino and Temari also had a thing for him before Temari started crushing on Shikamaru. I also had a thing for Sasuke but that’s neither here nor there.”
“Wait, what—”
“I think Hinata was the only girl that didn’t like Sasuke but that’s because she had eyes for me. I sorta liked her back at one point but then I realized how much she liked Kiba so I decided it was a no-go,” Naruto continues, ignoring the lost look on Kakashi-sensei’s face, “Then, there’s Tenten and Neji who used to have this weird tension but I never really knew if Neji actually liked her because he died. Right now, I think Tenten and Lee are slowly becoming something because she’s recently stopped insulting him.
“Also, fun fact, really embarrassing fact,” he tacks on, “I’ve had a thing for both Gaara and Kankuro. Oh, and also Ayame-san.”
Finally finished with his long-winded explanation on the romantic entanglements of his friends, Naruto lets out a loud exhale. He sets aside his pen and pushes the piece of paper forward before resting back on the heels of his palms.
“Okay…” Kakashi says as he places the second, half-full bottle of sake away from Naruto’s reach, “I think you’ve had enough to drink.”
Kakashi hooks Naruto’s arm over his shoulders and helps him walk over to the couch.
As Naruto gets himself into a comfortable position laying down, he watches as Kakashi plucks a pillow off of the floor before placing it behind Naruto’s head. Then, the older man grabs a blanket from somewhere to spread across Naruto’s body.
“Did that help clear everything up?”
“Sure.” Kakashi answers distractedly as he tucks in the edges of the blanket.
“Which means, the only possible people that could be Sakura’s boyfriend are Shino and Choji,” Naruto babbles on, his brain going a mile a minute, “But, that’s obviously not true; so that leads us back to square one.”
The couch dips as Kakashi seats himself beside Naruto’s legs.
The heat radiating off of his body burns through the blanket and Naruto desperately wishes he could throw the damn thing off to feel the warmth from the person itself.
“Maa, I think you should go to sleep now.”
“Will you be here in the morning?” he mumbles.
“Of course.”
“Good,” Naruto says, “Because I miss you when you’re not around.”
He can hear Kakashi’s breath hitch. Soon, a gloved hand pushes the fringe off of Naruto’s forehead. Closing his eyes, Naruto leans into the touch.
“Y’know, I really enjoyed these last couple of weeks. Between your responsibilities and my missions, we don’t get to see each other much.” Naruto continues, “I think I might just break my other leg to spend more time with you.”
Kakashi chuckles as he traces his finger against Naruto’s scarred cheeks.
“Or you can just ask.”
Naruto’s breath is slowly starting to even out and he’s mere moments away from sleep when he hears the loud and unexpected crash coming from outside of his window. Suddenly fully awake and less drunk, Naruto shoots up from the couch, flinging the blanket off of him.
Meanwhile, Kakashi-sensei has already whipped out a kunai from out of nowhere and is steadily approaching the window.
“Damn it, Lee!”
At the sound of Tenten’s irate voice, both him and Kakashi-sensei drop their guards. Kakashi stows away his kunai before throwing open the window.
Hobbling on his good foot, Naruto makes his way over. He peers down the window to find Tenten and Lee sprawled across the ground outside of his home. Right next to them, is Shino sitting atop of Choji’s shoulders and Temari atop of Shikamaru’s.
“What the hell are you doing?” he exclaims at the guilty party.
“It was Sakura-chan’s idea!” Lee shouts, pointing over Naruto’s shoulder.
Using Kakashi as his crutch, he walks over to the window on the opposite side of the room. He opens it up to find Sakura sitting on Sasuke’s shoulders, Ino on Sai’s, and Hinata on Kiba’s. All six of them wear apologetic looks on their faces. Or, well, five of them do, Sasuke couldn’t care less about boundaries.
“Hey…” Sakura greets in an attempt to be casual.
“Are you guys spying on us?” Kakashi questions.
“Okay, don’t act like you weren’t doing the same thing to me!”
Busted.
“Okay, well, we, just,” Naruto flounders around for an adequate defense, “We were just trying to figure out who your boyfriend was!”
For a reason beyond his understanding, the rest of his friends burst out into a fit of laughter, almost knocking one another over.
“Boyfriend? Oh my God,” Sakura says exasperatedly as she tries to steady herself on Sasuke’s shoulders, “You idiots!”
As Naruto opens his mouth to ask her what the hell she means, Sakura turns to her right and laces her hand into Ino’s hair before tugging her in for a kiss.
Both he and Kakashi-sensei sport shocked expressions as they turn to look at each other. Then, Naruto twists around to garner the reactions of his friends to find that none of them seem to share the same shock.
“Ino and Sakura!” Naruto shouts, “Why is no one else surprised?”
“It was kinda hard to miss, man.” Kiba chimes in.
From the other window, Shino adds, “Yeah, it was the only thing more obvious than Kiba’s crush on Hinata.”
“Hey!” Kiba exclaims as his face burns red like his markings, “At least it wasn’t as obvious as Naruto’s crush on Kakashi-sama!”
Suddenly, the room descends into a deafening silent.
The arm that's swung around his shoulder tenses up before pulling away completely.
“Sorry,” Kiba says quietly, hunching in on himself, “Was that supposed to be a secret?”
Naruto forces himself to stare ahead; he doesn’t want to remember what Kakashi’s face is going to look like when he inevitably rejects him.
“Oh, would look at the time,” Sakura pipes up, laughing nervously, “We all need to…”
“Babysit Mirai-chan for Kurenai-sensei!” Ino finishes, “Yep, all twelve of us! Let’s go!”
All of them hop off of each other in a frenzy before scrambling off into the streets of Konoha.
“Oh my God…” Naruto mutters to himself, as the humiliation settles in.
“Naruto,” he hears Kakashi say, “Can we—What are you doing!”
Not wanting to deal with the repercussions of what just happened, Naruto grips the window ledge before hauling himself onto the sill; wincing as he knocks his cast around.
“I’m trying to leave!”
“You have a broken leg!”
“Can’t break what’s already broken!”
A strong arm wraps around his torso before he can escape through the window. Far more easily than he should’ve been able to, Kakashi drags him back inside. Kicking and thrashing around, Naruto struggles in his grip.
“Naruto, just, can you listen to me!”
Ripping out of Kakashi-sensei’s grasp, Naruto shoves his fingers into his ears and shuts his eyes, as he begins waddling around the room.
“Lalalala! I can’t hear you!” Naruto screams at the top of his lungs, no doubt waking any sleeping neighbours of his, “Lalalala! You should leave now! Lalalala! I’m going to kill Kiba and then I’m going to—”
His threat goes unfinished as he feels a warm pressure against his mouth and a hand angling his face upwards. His eyes fly open to find the distorted sight of Kakashi in front of him before he settles on shutting them again and leaning into the feeling.
Sooner than he’d like, though, the kiss comes to an end.
“Hmm?” Naruto mumbles, still coming down from the high.
He’s slow to open his eyes but when he does, he’s greeted by Kakashi’s bare face smiling down at him.
“You idiot,” Kakashi says affectionately as he moves his hand to rest on Naruto’s shoulder, “I was trying to tell you I feel the same.”
“Oh,” he says dumbly, “That’s nice.”
Shaking his head fondly, Kakashi leads him back to the couch. Once he’s made sure Naruto is comfortable, he leans down to press a kiss to his forehead.
“Go to sleep, Naruto,” he whispers, “We can talk in the morning.”
Naruto falls asleep with a smile on his face that night.

For the Country| Tobirama- Arranged Marriage AU
Part 7/15
Part 1| ... | Part 8
Masterlist
Word Count: 2.3k
Chapter Summary: Kagami and Tobirama go to the market and Kagami takes about y/n’s role in the Uchiha clan. Tobirama goes on to talk to y/n about taking Kagami for his team, but this is met with hesitation. Things get spicy after this chapter lol jk i forgot i added a fluff chapter in between this one and the spicy one
***
“Why are you so insistent on finding an orange?” Tobirama inquired as he looked down to the child who was pacing along his side, a child who was truthfully leading the way down the market trail.
“Because,” Kagami started as he tightened his grip on the basket that was already filled with various vegetables. “It’s for y/n. For training me with my eyes. She really likes them but they’re hard to find around here, you know?” he replied as he lifted his chin above the produce to better see his elder.
“But why are you giving her a gift for training you? Most students don’t.”
Kagami gave a small frown, confusion overcoming his expression. “‘Cause she didn’t have to?” He offered, uncertainty weighing down his voice. “You know she’s got a lot going on with you and the hospital and the village and the clan and everything else,” he listed off the various dealings she seemed to have a hand in. “She didn’t have to train me, but she is, so the least I can do is buy her an orange.”
Tobirama nodded. For as ornery as Kagami could be, there were times like this where he seemed much more mature than he should be. Putting his hands in his pockets as they continued down the street, Tobirama continued to ask his questions. “And how’s that going? Training?”
It was then that any uncertainty Kagami had been harboring vanished. With a squinty eyed smile, the young Uchiha gleamed. “Really good. She’s always been a good teacher, and her Sharingan’s strong- Madara trained her after all. Besides just being my sister, there was a reason I wanted her to train me.”
“What?” Tobirama frowned, confusion flooding in. She had never mentioned anything of her Sharingan, or her training. Up until recently, he had only seen it activated a handful of times, all of which occurred during a mission before their marriage. The only uptick in instances of its appearance was due to her training of Kagami. Narrowing his eyes, Tobirama prodded at the comment. “She never mentioned that she was trained by Madara?”
Kagami stitched his eyebrows together. “What do you mean?” he asked before offering clarifying information. “She was always Madara’s favorite when she was growing up. He trained her and our older brother, but he always said she was the most likely to survive. When she got older, she kinda shifted away from him, because he’s just… you know…?” Kagami failed to find the right word, but looked to Tobirama like he knew. “But she’s just not like that, and she ended up acting like a mediator for a lot of stuff.” Kagami shrugged as he admitted to information he thought his sister had already given.
Tobirama was silent for a moment as he tried to process the information that had just been given to him. From what he had gathered over the nearly two years that all this had started, she always made her relationship with the clan leader seem as if it were nothing more than that: a superior and a subordinate. The fact that Madara and her used to be closer wasn’t fitting within the structure Tobirama had built within his head.
Immediately reading into this silence, Kagami quickly threw in an additional tidbit to help placate his words. “Now they just kinda fight at meetings.” he added, turning his body to help project his words. “Uncle’s super strict and likes things the old way, but she tries to be flexible with us and the village, and it’s messy. She always stands up for the younger members at the meeting and how things are moving in the future. Most elders in the clan won’t listen to us, but they listen to her…” Kagami offered another truth that he probably shouldn’t have shared.
Diverting his gaze from the Senju, Kagami’s voice was quieter. “She’s done a lot for us… I’m sure you and the rest of the village would hate us even more than you already do if she hadn’t done the things she has…”
The sharpness left Tobirama’s face for a moment as he saw the child speak more as an adult. There was almost a sense of guilt pooling within him as he came to know that even Kagami knew of his distrust. But more than the guilt of that, there was the alarming amount of sense that came into the many facets of his wife. That was why she was always so insistent on going to clan meetings. Even if she did not legally carry their name anymore, she went to fight and argue with the elders of her clan for within her generation and the following. From the sounds of it too, if she hadn’t been there, things would probably have been much different, but to what extent, Tobirama probably would never know.
Knowing he should probably offer some support to the child, particularly because he mentioned him specifically, Tobirama tried. “Kagami…”
But his attempt was stopped by the very piece of fruit that started all of this. Acting as if nothing had just happened, Kagami diverted the conversation as he crossed over the street to the vendor. “Look! I found one!” Kagami perked up with a small laugh, ignoring any sense of pity that Tobirama would have given him.
Must have been a sibling trait…
***
Gingerly placing a blanket over the pile of sleeping souls, the Uchiha was helpless to the smile that was across her demeanor.
“How hard do you train someone so that they fall asleep on the floor?” Tobirama questioned, something that was almost resembling a joke, but there was a real inquiry in it.
Stepping away from Kagami and the two cats that were cuddled alongside him, she looked over to her husband. “Oh, nothing he can’t handle.” she offered as she walked into the kitchen, joining Tobirama. “Besides, sleeping like a rock has always just been one of his quirks.” she admitted, her smile still present.
Tobirama nodded as they both sat down at the small table and poured tea.
Cupping the drink in her hands and pulling it in, she gave a shrug as she mused. “I’ve questioned if it’s just a trait of being a child of a village. You don’t need to be on constant alert, so you get to sleep without worry.”
“He was born before the village formation though?”
“True, but kids his age don’t remember any of it.” she corrected. “And I’m glad he can hardly remember a time before the village...” she admitted, her voice softer this time. “He’s so kind and unburdened by the past that he can actually see a future…” she spoke, more to herself than to him, but the words were still there for him to hear.
Sitting in the darkened room, Tobirama was halted by her comment, a heaviness weighing it down. There was that same despair he had seen earlier in the day, a despair that Tobirama had never really felt.
Biting down on her lip, she looked down to her cup before matching Tobirama’s gaze. Inhaling as if the words hurt her, she tried not to show the weakness within her. “I know when you think of our family, your mind goes directly to Madara and Izuna, but…” she trailed, her eyes quickly darting to the mass of blankets in the room next to theirs before continuing. “There are ones like Kagami, and please don’t let them limit him…” she spoke, her voice close to a beg.
Setting his cup down, Tobirama exhaled, not sure how the next moments were going to go. “I wanted to talk to you about that. About Kagami.” he replied, constantly analyzing her behavior to try and predict her reactions.
A small frown came upon her face as she filled with concern. “Yes?”
Tobirama had thought of this for a while, but particularly in the month that Kagami had lived with them, time where Tobirama had been able to see Kagami train and succeed. Tobirama knew what he wanted, he just needed permission. “Hashirama is insisting I have a team that I train from genin on up. ” he started, his voice strong as he were voicing a proposal to the village.
“I’m listening, but I don’t like where this is going.”
This was about how Tobirama expected this to start out. “Y/n. I want him as a student. I think he’s capable and he listens and he has potential.” Tobirama admitted, offering compliments that normally wouldn’t be given. “Potential that’s unique, and can be cultivated for what this village will need.”
Shaking her head, she denied any of it. “No, Tobirama. He’s still a child.” she was firm. “And he’s got at least another year in the Academy before he can even attempt the genin examination.”
“But he doesn’t need it; he could pass that test right now.” Tobirama refuted. “He’s already ahead of all his peers and most of the year above him. And with you training him with the Sharingan, that puts him even further ahead of the others in the Academy. It would be a disservice to him to keep him in there.” he continued his counter. “You would be limiting him.”
Placing her cup down and folding her hands on the table, she continued her defense. “He’s a child, and we don’t need child soldiers anymore…” she insisted. “Stop trying to take away his childhood.”
Tobirama sighed. “Those aren’t my intentions, but I’m being realistic. We’re going to be in a war probably within the next 5 to 10 years with how tensions are rising with the other villages. That gives us time to train the young ones now, so they don’t have to go out as child soldiers like we did.” he said, his voice harsher than it had been previously as told the reality of the future.
She placed a hand over her mouth to hide her expression as she looked away from him. He had a point, but it was still not something she wanted to come to terms with. It wasn’t the fact that they would be in another war; it was the fact that in the next one, Kagami would have to fight in it. Shaking her head again, she chose to not make eye contact. “No, Tobirama. I’m.. I’m not having this conversation.”
“Why not?” he prodded. “Do you want him to die because he couldn’t reach his potential?”
“Of course not!” she snapped back. “Why would you ask such a thing?” she gritted her teeth.
Though he was unforgiving in his advancements. “That’s what’s going to happen.” he retorted. “I’ve already thought this through, y/n. You’re right, he’s balanced and unaffected by the Uchiha hatred- just as you are. If he can train under someone outside of your clan, strengthen skills he wouldn’t be able to if were to be trained within the clan in addition to you training him with the Sharingan, he’ll be prepared to go out in the field when the time comes.”
She was frustrated by the sound logic. Letting her head fall forward onto her hand, she shrugged. “I can’t. No.”
“Why not?”
“I just can’t, okay?” she repeated.
Narrowing his eyes, Tobirama knew better than to believe she was declining this just because she could. “I know you have a reason. Why?”
She fell silent.
“Y/n-”
“Because the other three had died by Senju hands, and now you're expecting me to willingly give up Kagami to you all!” she nearly hissed as she threw a hand out. “I just can’t give this approval without it feeling like I'm delivering him a death sentence.” she confessed, her eyes glossy now, constantly fighting back tears. Last thing she wanted was to cry in front of him, but this was one of her weak points.
Tobirama just listened for a moment. Even though their union had been working, the distrust was still there, and it was strikingly evident in that moment. She hid hers better than he did, but in that moment, she couldn’t deny it. “Y/n.” he tried to regain control of the conversation.
“What do you want?” she breathed out, trying to compose herself.
“I don’t want him to get hurt either,” he said. “I can protect him until he can fully protect himself.”
Straightening up at this comment, she looked at him almost bewildered. Never did she think she would hear these words from him, and as she sat there, hearing these truths, she was finding it difficult to process.
“I get that he’s the baby. He’s the one you can still protect, but you won’t be able to forever, so might as well make it so he can protect himself early on.” he stated harshly, trying to make her see past her sentimental inhibitions. “I can get this order sent out tomorrow, and it will be done, but I want your permission on all this.”
She shook her head. “Even if I say, ‘yes,’ the clan won’t approve it….”
He looked unphased. “If it’s a village order, they’re not in any position to refute it.” He delivered the truth. “I don’t care what your clan has to say. I’m asking for your permission.”
“Why mine?” she asked, almost scoffing at it. “I’m not the leader.”
“But you’re the one who cares.” he snapped. “Madara’s not going to protect him. He tossed you into the marriage without a second thought. Do you think he’s really going to protect Kagami?” Tobirama was curt, continuously delivering the blows.
She closed her eyes as a sigh escaped her. He was right, and that left her cornered.
“I’ll ensure his safety...”
Gritting her teeth, she nodded. “I’ll approve it….” she nearly whispered. “And I’ll defend it in the clan,” she affirmed, her voice increasing as she met Tobirama’s gaze.
“Thank-”
“But you have to swear, on your life, that you will protect him.” she gave the ultimatum.
“I will.”

overstepping, part 1 of 2 - tobirama senju/reader
Summary: In which Tobirama does not know how to express his concerns properly. And it turns to a mess, and then some. Smut ensues.
Author’s Note: it’s the same timeline/au as you never said goodbye and also apparently in this au of mine, Hashirama had stepped down as Hokage due to his gambling addiction and not bc he died…that’s fine with me tho. Available in AO3 as well.
PART TWO
You are absolutely so proud of Tobirama for being the new Hokage. Nothing compares to the feeling of seeing your new husband achieving the position that he deserves–although he could balk and snipe that he does not want it. You do have the feeling that he is a little happy about it, because he is in a position of cementing his brother’s dreams to last more than a lifetime.
However, there are moments when you absolutely loathe your husband’s new powerful position. Because it means that he can do stuff like this. Stuff like, overstepping the command system best left to Jounins like you (although he did have a hand in creating the said system, which adds to your endless chagrin). Not that he couldn’t, but the fact that he actually could, that his word is above all laws can be frustrating to you to no end.
“Excuse me?” You almost snap, but your self-control reminds you that the Hokage is your husband.
You gather yourself and look at Sarutobi Hiruzen pointedly. “Can you please repeat that?” You ask, but it is more of a defense mechanism so that you can have enough time to rear in your temper.
Hiruzen had the nerve–the nerve! As if he and his genius sensei do not agree with each other–to look sheepish. “Lord Nidaime Hokage has re-assigned this mission and has ordered that I take over. He orders that you be relieved of this mission.”
You stare at Hiruzen, speechless. Orders. Oh yeah, because your husband is the Hokage.
“But…this is my mission,” you said, your mind supplying the only reasonable argument you can scramble.
Hiruzen gives you an apologetic look.
You are literally about to take off when he has stopped you with orders from the Hokage to step down and give this mission up.
Dammit, Tobirama, you think. Who do you think you are?
You look at the faces of your students who are freshly Chuunins. They stare back at you, completely clueless and painfully wide-eyed that it makes your heart clench. They are about to head outside Konohagakure, and you won’t even be there to advise them before throwing them to the sharks of the battlefield, where they could get killed. You know that they need you, and that you have spent weeks training them to be ready and to polish their teamwork with you. What would come out of this mission with this sudden arrangement? They are just children, for Kami’s sake.
It is not that you doubt Hiruzen’s ability. Your husband has trained his students to be good shinobis to the bone, but this situation does not sit right with you. You have seen how strong Hiruzen and his team are, and are more than ready to handle leading missions by themselves.
You exhale. “Alright, go, I won’t keep you waiting,” you grit out.
Hiruzen nods and he turns to your young team, and they flee.
~
You stand over the graves of your students, failure and shame hanging over your shoulders. You have failed them. They were just newly Chuunins. You were supposed to be there for them. One small mistake in the battlefield, such as overlooked traps, had caused their lives. Hiruzen had shown up, still recovering from the third degree burns he had acquired from the mission. He looks on glumly and you let out a slow breath.
You want to blame Hiruzen, but you know better, having been a seasoned Jounin at this point.
Another set of footsteps approach the two of you, and Hiruzen leaves quietly.
“It’s not your fault,” Tobirama tells you in that matter of fact way. As if that would comfort you.
You clench your fist, and your teeth, but your grief gets the better of you. You turned to him and slapped him.
“That’s for pulling me out of my mission,” you spat. You almost feel bad seeing the flash of hurt on his face, but the way he composed his features made you angrier.
You ball your hand into a fist and you aim a punch towards his chest. He staggers back, completely off-guard. “And that’s for getting them killed.”
Tobirama stares at you, his red eyes as cold as ever, or not–they are brimming with unsaid words, though you can’t find it in yourself to remember why you even married this man right now.
“Stop this,” he says quietly.
You think he almost reaches for your arm, but it could have been your imagination.
You shoot him a glare, and then you turn to walk away.
~
The second time it happened, you were livid . So much so that no ANBU guarding the Hokage can hold you down. You had managed to snag a high-level mission, but you were hoping that you were already away before it could get to the Hokage. Of course, it was naivety on your part that nothing gets past your husband.
It has been months since you have taken up a mission outside the Land of Fire, missions that you are definitely capable of.
Just when you thought you could actually hop back into your shinobi career.
You burst through the doors of the Hokage’s office, rage rolling off of you in waves that no ordinary shinobi can get closer to. Good thing your husband is the Hokage.
“Lord Nidaime,” you grit your teeth. “You did not want to yell in the office, where there are ears listening in. “I am asking you to give me this mission–my mission– back, not as your wife, but as a shinobi of the Hidden Leaf.”
Tobirama gazes at you coolly, which furthers fuel your anger. “No, you cannot go. Have you forgotten what had happened the last time you had a similar mission? It was a simple reconnaissance mission and you failed,” he deadpans.
Taken aback by the way he is addressing you, you step forward. You can feel the hidden ANBU tense, but you pay them no care. If they so much as try to stop you, well, they can spend the rest of the year on a hospital bed.
“I have you know, I would’ve failed that mission all over again, if it meant saving my squad,” you spat. You cross your arms.
He leans back on his chair and does the same. “Please, I do not want to do this right now.”
“Lord Nidaime!” You shout this time.
Instead of going off the rails and shaking your fist at him, you take your thumb and your forefinger to pinch the bridge of your nose. “Tobirama,” you say, softer this time.
“You cannot go,” he says in a much quieter tone.
It is like Tobirama knows no other words, although you know that he has an extensive vernacular of words. However, you also know that he prefers to only write down and use his words, instead of speaking them. Tobirama is concise and sharp, but has a tendency to be scathing when his buttons are being pushed. Much like you do often in your earlier days in your relationship, but you like to think that you are molding him into a softer direction.
You press your lips together. “This is not over.”
Tobirama watches you as you leave, and it is missed by your own eyes how he immediately reaches up to run his hand on the fur that rests on his shoulder, as if it is an object to steel himself into a calmer composure. He is frustrated at himself towards how he is handling this. When it comes to you, the lines between work and personal life seem like a jumbled mess, no matter how much he tries to keep an order. He is usually good at this, but the outrage you feel towards him is out of his depth. He is best at keeping his emotions at bay, but after that mission that almost killed you, he finds that he cannot let you out of his sight.
~
That night, Tobirama does not come home until past midnight. It was fine with you, since you are alright with spending time by yourself. You are all used to that by now. It is not like Tobirama requires your presence around the clock.
However it was easier to spend time without him when you had missions and you were actually doing your job as a Jounin. Right now, you have done nothing but be a housewife, and it irks you. You used to be Tobirama’s equal in everything, but now, you feel like the two of you aren’t even on the same page.
~
“Lady…Nidaime Hokage’s wife?” A shinobi calls you as you make your way towards the Hokage’s office.
You start at the new title used to address you and almost cursed. However, you knew self-control. Perhaps, too much.
“You do not have to call me that,” you tell them, a little exasperated.
The shinobi approaches you carefully, their arms stacked with scrolls and other documents. “Lord Nidaime’s office has been closed all day…well, we know he’s in there, but when he gets like this…”
You sigh, understanding the shinobi very well. “Leave those outside the door. I’ll take care of it.”
Tobirama has bouts of manic passion that renders him inaccessible for days. Sometimes, even for weeks. It was worse during Hashirama’s time as Hokage, wherein for days he does not eat nor sleep, and now, it seems like he is doomed to repeat the same routines. You sigh outside the doors to his office. You know it’s locked, but it is not beyond your ability to break in, having been familiar to the way he seals his things. Not that he likes the idea of you knowing that since it invaded his privacy.
In your left hand was a newly prepared lunch, completed with his favorite tea brewed in the proper temperature. You would know that he wouldn’t even dare drink it if it wasn’t up to his taste.
The bastard.
With your free hand, you dispel the seals locking his office and you enter, expecting to see him buried by work and whatever it is he’s working on. However, he is only taking a nap, and you almost smile at the sight. You notice that he has lost a little bit of weight, probably due to days where he forgoes food altogether; as someone who knows better to take care of himself, he does a shit job of it.
For a moment, all is forgotten. Weeks of dispute, you put behind. You are still his wife. These things, you know you can worry about.
You set the lunch carefully on the available space on his desk and cleared some paperwork you deem trivial at the moment and arranged them to his left.
You think about waking him up, but then your gaze lands on the paper in front of him, where he is scrawling a formula messily. You recognize the markings of some kind of summoning jutsu, but the rest is covered up by his arm. Which he is currently resting on.
You pull the paper from under him to get a closer look because the more you study it, the stranger this summoning jutsu looks like, but then he snaps awake.
“What are you doing?” He says in that snippy tone of his.
“What are you doing?” You question back.
He blinks and he looks down on his work. “I was…” He takes the paper and attempts to hide it from you. “Writing.”
You sigh for the nth time that day, and push the boxed lunch towards him. “Eat. And stop scaring your subordinates.”
Tobirama just stares at you, guarded. “Did you see what was on the paper?”
You roll your eyes. “No, I didn’t. Why? Is it illegal?” You raise an eyebrow.
Tobirama looks down, his lips pressed into an unimpressed line. “I’m working.”
“I can see that,” you fight the urge to roll your eyes, and you push the lunch forward. “Eat.”
Tobirama looks like he is about to say another retort, when he looks at his now semi-cleared desk. “Where are the documents on my desk?”
“I put them on a pile to your left.”
“Why? I was working on them.” Tobirama sounds offended. “They aren’t done.”
“I know that, but you can easily find it to your left.” You gesture to its direction. “They’re just stacked.”
“But I had it like that for a reason.”
“Tobi…,” you start. You hate to see him like this, and you know you caught him in one of his worst moods. It is not easy when he gets like this.
Well, nothing is ever easy with Tobirama.
“Get out,” Tobirama snaps, sounding overwhelmed. “I am working.”
Tobirama does not even make eye contact, and that is how you know that you will not be able to budge him. Not when he is busy working on whatever it is he’s hiding or just when you apparently disturbed his chaotic system of processing documents.
“Eat,” you tell him again, but it probably went over his head.
