   Anon asked :  munday meme! 💔🐶📺💻
~~~
💔 — what are some of your worst qualities?    My self destructive nature? Probably the worst I think. I mean it more in a physical sense though. Having an odd ‘thing’ for scars doesn’t help when my self loathing is at it’s lowest.
🐶 — any pets?      A few! I have a dog, a cat, and two lizards. I love my babies. My dream pet is a Tegu. Or a donkey. Donkeys are awesome.
📺 — favorite movie(s) and/or tv show(s)?      I don’t really have a favourite film. But TV show? Will always be Red Dwarf. It got me through many bad days during my childhood. And even as an adult! I love going back to it every so often for a dopamine hit.
💻 — how many friends have you made in the rpc? feel free to tag a few of them!    I have made quite a few friends, over my MANY blogs. Granted, I have lost contact with most of them, but a few have stuck by despite my trash.
   You lovelies know who you are <3
this internship is the best !
The costume designer is a little granny. She rents and creates costumes. She has ten thousand of them. Four thousand of them are suspended in the form of a spiral on rails and the rest are everywhere. There are mannequins to take pictures of the costumes. She made a Dwarf King costume based on Thorin, an Elf King costume based on Thranduil, she has whole bins of ribbons, rubber bands, beads, wigs, hats and accessories of all kinds (even real swords). Her sewing machines date back to the 50's.
Her husband looks like Santa Claus (white big curly beard, small round glasses, big belly and big smile. Their village is very small, everyone knows each other here. The costume designer has geese, a turtle, cats, a dog and donkeys.  She recycles everything, she has a huge garden with lots of vegetables. She makes her own laundry with ashes. She dries the costumes in the sun (every morning we put about thirty of them to dry). They have an old pigeon house that they are rebuilding using the old methods. She has hundreds of books on period costumes. She has a doctorate in art history and gives lectures and demonstrations on medieval dance.
For fabrics she hates the synthetic ones in the big stores, so she buys her own in second-hand stores, she uses old curtains, tablecloths, everything. She even barter with other costume designers.
We have 300 costumes to prepare (sorting, ironing, repairing if necessary, labeling) for a medieval festival and since two days we finish super late to finish in time. We also have 150 costumes for an 18th century party in two weeks.
There are full of castles to visit around the village, full of troglodyte cities, full of museums and full of caves everywhere ! I visited an abyss with a lake and corridors of stalagmites and stalactites last week.
FAQ: (Long post under the cut)
Who are you? My name’s Emily, I’m in my mid-20′s and I’m a student in Viking and Old Norse studies with modern Norwegian. I live in France but go to uni in the UK (bilingual English-French). I have generalised anxiety disorder, hypermobiity and am hard of hearing, on top of suffering the results of several nasty injuries - a twicefractured neck, a broken hand, dislocated shoulder, dislocated ankle and broken pelvis - all of these injuries were riding related except one of the neck fractures, which was due to a bullying attack in high school where three boys in my class threw me down a flight of stairs. I’m an asexual lesbian, potentially non-binary and occasional gamer - all gaming reblogs/talk goes under the tag “Cast Gaymes” for this reason. I compete in amateur dressage and showjumping currently, but want to branch out with some dabbling in eventing, TREC, extreme trail riding and livestock working.
Tell me about your horses:
Hermes - 2007 bay zangersheide gelding (Quadrillo x Chanson de Kabaret)
This is my main guy, the love of my life and also my problem child. He’s a stunningly talented horse with shit for brains. He’s competed up to 130cm classes with my trainer as well as flouncing around smaller stuff with me, but is banned from dressage shows due to his inability to complete a test without throwing a strop. I’ve owned him since May 2011.
Freyja - 2016 chestnut zangersheide mare (Untouchable 27 x Leader M)
Moose, as she’s sometimes called, is the redheaded demon horse I fell in love with last year (2019). She’s got an enormous personality to match her 17.2hh body and is hopefully going to be my next showjumper, dressage horse and possibly take me eventing too.
Vigo - 1997 black Welsh section D cob gelding (Cathedine Telynor x Ffoslas Caradog Ap Daffyd)
This old man is my darling pony, donkey of the swamps, sir of the wiggles. He has a million nicknames, as you can see. Vigo lives at home year round and rules the roost. I’ve taken him competing in jumping, dressage and TREC as he’s a massively polyvalent little beast. He’s been with me since 2013. Given his age he’s partially retired, but it’s an active retirement as he needs to be worked to keep the weight off him. Recently we’ve been dabbling in western riding, which suits him a lot.
Sana - 2001 grey arab gelding (Pegase EF x Neman)
We took Sana on as a companion for Hermes in 2013 as he and Vigo couldn’t live together at that point. His old owner took him to CEI160 endurance competitions, but he had to retire due to DJD in both knees. These days, he spends his time being a grumpy old man and occasionally farts around bridleless or ponies other horses.
Horsie - 2017 grey anglo-arab gelding (Business x Pastel d’Olympe)
I bought him as a project mid June 2020 with the intention of selling him on eventually due to him needing someone to bring him on in a relaxed manner whilst he continues to grow and mature. He’s got an absolutely wonderful temperament and is generally pleasant to have at home so he’s staying with me for the moment. I plan on casually campaigning him in the ammie YH dressage, showjumping and eventing classes (Hunter too if there are any shows).
 What other pets do you have? I have 3 barn cats (Monkey, Oliver and Rocket Launcher), and a purebred Maine Coon (Grimnir). Two family dogs - both Newfoundland’s but one purebred (Bear) and one rescue who was abandoned on us in 2018 (Bruno). 1 Dwarf rabbit (Smak) who was born in 2019. 27 chickens - farmyard X-breeds, a group of ex-production layers (the babbling biddies), purebred Brahmas (Magnus, Vulture, Brunhilde and Valkyrie) and a bunch of chicks from my Brahma cockerels (Balti, The Void™️, Soggy, Pingu, Chocolate, Yeller and Marbles). One peacock called Peanut. 7 elderly and partially feral llamas (Amy, Didier, Delia, Dolly, Esther, Ete and Edward) - Ete is the llama I occasionally show jumping things. Two tanks of tropical fish - one 300L community and a 450L with a now-solitary Oscar called Gilbert.
What are your hobbies? I read/write fanfiction and original fiction, occasionally do art, make stained glass windows/display pieces and participate in Vulture Culture (the collection of bones, fur and wet specimens) - my favourite pieces are my horse skull, coyote pelt and legacy human skull (teaching specimen given to me by my grandfather - he got it in the 60’s in Turkey when he was a teacher). As I mentioned above, I also game; my preferences are for long, open-world RPG’s - Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassins Creed Valhalla and Zelda: Breath of the Wild amongst others.
Who was Rethy? Rethy was my old horse, who unfortunately had to be put to sleep due to sudden posterior paralysis in 2019. He was a 2005 anglo-arab gelding who I’d mainly competed in showjumping. Most notably, he had serious aggression issues due to having been abused in his youth and took a very particular handler to manage. Partly because of his aggression, and partly because of his larger-than-life (if that can even be said for a 17h giraffe of a horse) personality, he took a lot of patience to love but rewarded my efforts greatly. I miss him a lot.
Who was Cool? Cool was a 2009 zangersheide gelding that I part owned with my trainer back in 2015. He and I weren’t a terribly good match (horses don’t come much lazier than him) but he took me up to amateur showjumping. We sold him in 2016 and from what I hear, is now loving life with a far more suitable young rider in Belgium.
Who was Burrito? Burrito was a rescue donkey I briefly owned in 2020. I’ve long loved donkeys and was very excited to bring one into my herd. Unfortunately, he had something terribly wrong with him. On Halloween he suddenly flipped out as I was feeding him and attempted to kill me; he knocked me to the ground, dragged me around by my boot, bit my leg, trampled my head (luckily I was wearing a hat) and savaged my right arm whilst attempting to go for my throat. I spent 4 days in hospital and had to undergo surgery to fix my injuries. Upon returning home I had him put to sleep, I’ve plenty of experience with aggressive animals but I couldn’t risk another attack like what he did and frankly didn’t want to keep him alive after it either.
Day 25. Maryfield, SK to Shaunavon, SK. 352 miles.
Miles and miles of plain riding, all due West in strong winds and uncomfortable temperatures and thankfully all behind me at day's end.
After our late night, when my alarm goes at 7.00, I hit the snooze button. It's useful to have my second phone across the room but even so I am back in bed and trying to capture the essence of day 22 in this blog. 45 minutes of writing later I try to save but the app freezes and all is lost. Ouch!
The disappointing outcome gets me up and dressed and I get my bags packed and laid at the front porch.
Phil of course has been up for ages. I have the sweetest of plums with granola for breakfast and suggest to Phil that we take his side by side and look around his 640 acre farm. We top up my bike with 90 cent a litre fuel and then roll out past the gopher paddock and into the alfalfa sown meadows on which Phil keeps his 300 plus sheep.
The sheep are guarded by pyrennean mountain dogs that have been raised with pet lambs so their 'pack' is the flock. The dogs are large and powerful and long lived. Living out in the field and not tethered they mingle with the sheep who pay no attention to them.
Guard dogs are necessary because lynx, lion and coyote are still a feature of plains life as are bear, moose and white tail deer.
We have coffee and cookies in the bay window and watch the orioles and humming birds dipping into the sugar solution on their orange feeder. The farm cats tumble into the garden. A grey cat reminds me of home.
All too soon I have to move on, the miles ahead are too great for anything later than 10.30. It's been a great stay and I know that by contrast today I will be somewhat lonely.
The morning is cool and carries a smokey smell both of which Phil has put down to the fires burning in BC.
It stays cool and I need to wear my waterproof jacket to make my way to route 13, The Redcoat Trail, which I will follow as far as the light allows. There is a thick haze, the harvesters add dust to that and a crosswind shakes the bike almost as much as the thunderous lorries.
The plains are long and featureless but some images stay with me:
The silver silos of grain stores clustered together and topped with a wigwam of tubes.
A lone prairie house turning grey, it's shingles and fascias being lost to the harsh prairie weather.
A train of cowboys in pickups each pulling their string of horses in trailers behind them.
A wheeling crowd of swallows catching the same flies that are splattering my goggles and jacket.
The glassy shimmer on the distant horizon that cars and trucks seem to slide off.
Two adventure riders riding the other way give the upright hand gesture of our tribe.
Two good puns. Lawn and Order on a landscape gardner's pick up, Doctor Hook on a recovery truck.
An elderly guy walking with the help of crutches stops in the gas station forecourt on the way to his red pickup, 'Where you going?, Where you from?'. He gets his answers and shakes his head wearily. The folly of youth?
Lines of nodding donkeys methodically extracting the oil that lies below Saskatchewan. They add a faint smell of oil to the smoke.
A harvester moves over to let me by, it's driven by enormous triangles of rubber, caterpillar tracks that dwarf my bike.
The care with which drivers pass me. The long wait, the moving over, the pull in a full 50 yards ahead. Is this taught?
Counting up the numbered range roads, passing 100s in the day.
I can't keep going for the hours I need to without a break so I pick a distant town as a target and then turn off into it to mooch around for something to see or do and perhaps for somewhere to eat.
Crossroads Inn comes up trumps with a beef soup and Jack Burger as does the Splitter Inn in Ponteix, another great beef soup.
Elsewhere there are some sad and dilapidated prairie towns on the brink of collapse. Too often these towns are on the patchwork of reserves that lie across Canada.
In one reservation town a remarkable sculpture garden contains hundreds of figures made from spanners, scrap metal and rebar. They are challenging and together give some of the history of Canada from a First Nation point of view.
It stays cold up until Crossroads Inn and I cradle my soup and coffees to warm my hands yet 40 minutes later I come out to a furnace of heat.
I ride for 20 minutes until it's unbearable. In a gas station I wet my neck scarf and the cooling effect around my head keeps me refreshed. It wears off after 10 minutes but I take my cooling system further at my next stop by wetting my entire shirt as well as the scarf. It's very cold but I am more comfortable.
I am dry in half an hour and now the air temperature has dropped back down and I progressively have to add layers and waterproofs. The huge fluctuations in temperature are weird because there is no change in the sunlight or cloud cover.
At last I am 30 minutes from my lodging at Bears Den Motel. At the same time the scenery begins to change. There are small hills, scrubby sage brush and cattle ranches.
Perhaps I have made it across the great plain in the two days I had intended?
a small section of Keeping Secrets for @elvensemi
Between Blackwall’s strength and your coaxing, the two of you manage to get the goats inside Skyhold and into a quiet corner near the stables. You feel quite accomplished.
“So… why do you have three goats?” Blackwall says as you idly feed them some oatcakes, mostly just to feel their adorable little noses pushed against your hand. They’re kind of cute. You’ve always been more fond of animals like donkeys, mules, goats, and sheep than you are of traditional “pet” type animals like dogs, cats, or nugs. Although the nug thing was more of a trend within Orlais, from what you understand. You had thought for a very short time that dwarves kept nugs as pets. You were corrected by a particularly loud, particularly drunk dwarf you’d met at an Orlesian event.
“Alright, so, I was on the walls with the Commander--” you begin.
“Why were you on the walls with the Commander?” Blackwall interrupts immediately. You glare at him.
“I was delivering him a missive. And before you ask why I, a linguist, was delivering a missive to Commander Rutherford, I don’t know either. I suspect it’s because I did it once without protest, and now Leliana assumes I don’t mind.”
The way Blackwall glances around, as if he expects an assassin to swoop down from the barn, is somewhat amusing.
“Anyway, we were on the walls and… someone started throwing goats at the walls.”
“...What?”
“I’m not kidding! I’m still waiting to find out why,” you admit. “But in all the hubbub, no one seemed to notice the goats were stuck, so I sort of… lured them over. They seem to be tame. I can’t imagine why someone was throwing them at the damn walls.” You giggle slightly, distracted, as one of the goats lips at your thumb, hunting for more food. “I want to get a healer to look at them… this one’s limping, and I suspect they might have some broken ribs or something from being… I can only assume they were catapulted or something.”
“Belassan knows one of the healing ladies fairly well. He gets her whenever something’s wrong with one of the animals,” Blackwall muses. “Why would someone throw goats at the wall, though? Do you think they’re possessed or something?”
“I honestly have no idea. I’m sorry to ask for another favor, Ser Warden, but would you mind seeing if Belassan can get that healer? She’s a mage; she could heal them and tell if there was something off about them. I’d like to stay and keep an eye on them so they don’t wander off.”
“Certainly,” Blackwall agrees amicably. He’s a lot nicer when he doesn’t think… whatever it was he thought about you when the two of you first met.
You run a soft hand over each of the goats in turn. They’re not even slightly skittish, although the way several flinch adds more credence to your theory that they’re injured. How could they not be? It’s a miracle none of them died. They must not have been thrown at a high velocity…
You swallow anxiously at the thought that some may not have been thrown hard enough to fully cross over the chasm.
Your curiosity about who had thrown them is a little darker now.
Tumblr media
Duric Aeducan - dwarf ranger
What's your journey been like? Any interesting or memorable quests? I haven't been on many adventures as of now, so I suppose my 'first' one would be the most memorable? Granted it wasn't the... nicest thing that has happened to me. Your younger brother killing your older brother and framing you as the killer, all to take the throne from your dying father to name himself king and banish you into the monster-infested caves beneath your home... Well it put a bit of a damper on things, to say the least. I don't regret the life I lead now, as I quite enjoy living on the surface, I only regret how I got here. But if things had been different, if none of that happened and I remained underground as a prince, who would I even be?
Sounds like you've got a lot weighing on your mind. Have things gotten better since you've been on the surface? Yes, things have been great! Of course I'm still deeply saddened at losing my brother and father, and being betrayed by my second brother, but I've plenty to keep me distracted nowadays. I'm one of the older adventurers in my party, yet most things regarding surface life are completely foreign to me, and I'm at a loss until one of the others takes pity on me and explain the culture quirk I'm stuck on. It's something they find quite amusing. I believe we'll be heading down to a dwarven town soon, so it'll be a nice change of pace, being the one who has the answers for once.
Is it difficult, being so out of the loop on surface culture? It must be a severe change, going from nobility to this. It is, but it's a welcome change at that. I never knew how much I could miss out on, not just on surface life, but from being seen as a commoner. People bump into me as they walk past, they swear at me, have no problems asking me to do menial tasks. As odd as it sounds, it's wonderful being treated like an ordinary person! It's made me realise how distant I was from everyday problems, how much I truly didn't understand the plight of the people. Aside from being above ground now, I see the world differently, and I cannot be more thankful for it.
What are some of the things people have asked of you that seem simple, but completely new to you? Oh, where to start. Some of the more exciting tasks involved clearing a trade road of bandits, driving out ogres from a family's farmhouse, and exterminating spiders from multiple locations. Then there's the 'fetch quests' as some of my party call them, where a person wishes for us to locate something they've lost. And the places people lose things, on my beard, I didn't know people could be so forgetful. My favourite task however, involved us helping a young boy track down his missing... donkey, I believe it's called? Creatures we don't have underground that seem quite common on the surface still astound me.
Have any other surface animals caught your attention? How do they differ from the wildlife you know? In dwarven kingdoms, most creatures are blind, fit for a life of foraging in darkness, or digging through hard dirt and stone. They're usually quite small and sickly looking. Some nobles have the odd surface animal here and there - cats, mostly, sometimes dogs, as a show of their wealth. But those animals are common up here, hardly seen as a statement of power. My favourite creatures so far are 'cows'. Such wonderful faces, and their uses! I never knew so much food could come from a single animal. I adore them, but I've been told it's strange to simply pet a cow. Amazing surfacers don't appreciate their own creatures. But the same could be said for dwarves, eh?
New Post has been published on https://travelonlinetips.com/8-of-the-best-family-restaurants-and-cafes-in-cairns-and-port-douglas-2/
8 of the best family restaurants and cafes in Cairns and Port Douglas
The highlight reel from your family trip to the tropical end of Queensland may resemble a Disney box-office hit as you find Nemo on the Great Barrier Reef and swing through ancient rainforests like mini-Tarzans.
But you’ll need a separate foodie wish list (or your own genie in a lamp) to keep the family fuelled in between all the fun – and this list of family-friendly restaurants and cafes in Cairns and Port Douglas will be your best bet.
Muddy’s Cafe, Cairns
In between all the splashing at Cairns’ free lagoon, grab your famished mermaids and mermen and dry off at Muddy’s Cafe (right next door to the baby water play area and fenced playground).
You won’t need to whip out King Triton’s staff to encourage the kids to finish their meals with choices like crispy chicken slider, cheeseburger slider, and dagwood dog and chips. Keep up the tropical vibes with a strawberry, watermelon, rockmelon and pineapple juice or a mango, berry, sorbet and pineapple juice smoothie.
Open: 7 days from 7am till 8pm. Where: 174 Esplanade, Cairns. Hot tip: While you’re at it, make a splash at these other swimming spots.
Wharf One, Cairns
You’ll get a lot more than the bare necessities for you and your jungle cubs at Wharf One.
Mornings are best started with Wharf One’s dirty monkey: a banana smoothie with a sneaky shot of coffee. The little people’s brekkie menu offers up boiled eggs and soldiers, poached eggs and baked beans on toast, organic banana and Nutella toastie or French toast with banana and natural honey.
Before heading back to the jungle, try a fancy babyccino with chocolate powder, sprinkles, marshmallow and a cookie.
Open: 7 days from 7am till 5pm. Where: Wharf Street, Cairns. Hot tip: Once you’ve had your fill, head to the Fig Tree playground less than a one-minute walk away.
Prawn Star, Cairns
Unlike the Lost Boys, there’s no need to imagine your food when you board the Prawn Star! Take in the salty air as you chow down on the freshest prawns, mud crabs, cooked bugs, oysters and sashimi in the comfort of a floating restaurant at the Cairns Marina.
If your Lost Boys (and girls) are still developing their sea legs, avoid the plank and make your order a takeaway. You’ll find loads of tables and grassed areas nearby to set up a picnic (and possibly a food fight).
Open: 7 days from 11am till 9pm. Where: Marlin Marina, E Finger, Berth 31, Pier Point Road, Cairns. Hot tip: Mums and dads can order a bargain $5 beer or wine to wash the seafood down.
Ellis Bar and Grill, Ellis Beach
The menu items at Ellis Beach Bar and Grill don’t need an ‘EAT ME’ stamp on them. Big Alices can start the day with the brekkie bowl with cauliflower rice, BBQ mushroom, kale, kimchi, poached egg, chilli jam and guacamole; while little Alices can order mini pancakes or ham and cheese toastie.
Lunch and dinner highlights include a crab and calamari burger or smoked BBQ beef brisket. Kids will be left with a cheeky Cheshire cat-sized grin after gulping down calamari rings, battered fish, chicken nuggets or cheeseburger with salad and chips on the side.
Even if you’re late for a very important date, make sure you leave enough time to wander through the palm trees along Ellis Beach. Alice would recommend it.
Open: 7 days from 8am till 8pm. Where: Lot 13 Captain Cook Highway, Ellis Beach. Hot tip: They flip free pancakes for kids each Saturday from 8am till 11:30am.
Paradise Palms, Kewarra Beach
Even the grumpy old Mr Fredrickson from Up would be happy (okay, maybe not happy, but he might avoid his usual frown) if his balloon travelling house made it to Paradise Palms rather than Paradise Falls.
Either go for crispy pizzas all ’round – they come in kids’ size too – or order classics like burgers, seafood basket, chicken parmigiana or pepper steak; then pavlova with passionfruit if you want your dessert to be inspired by your surroundings.
Eager Wilderness Explorers can wander around the play village complete with super-slippery slide and climbing frame, play on the mini soccer field, or discuss recent badge wins in the Queenslander-style cubby. There’s even a fenced mini-adventure playground for under fives right near the restaurant terrace.
Open: Monday to Thursday 7am till 5pm, Friday to Sunday 7am till 9pm. Where: Paradise Palms Drive, Kewarra Beach. Hot tip: They also offer gluten-free bases for their pizzas if you need to cater to sensitive tums.
The Beach Shack, Kewarra Beach
The heart of Te Fiti might be in Kewarra Beach, so there shouldn’t be any need to leave this island (we mean, beach) for a long time, especially when the crew at The Beach Shack stock their menus with delights for the whole family.
Wednesday’s menu is rammed with tapas and slurpy oysters, so get ready to say, “I’m going to love you in my belly!”
And just like Maui, the shapeshifting demigod, your little voyagers can get up to mischief in the sand while you sip cocktails and take in the beach vibes.
Open: Wednesday 5pm till 8:30pm, Friday 5pm till 9:30pm and Sunday 3pm till 8:30pm. Where: 80 Kewarra Street, Kewarra Beach Resort and Spa, Kewarra Beach. Hot tip: The Beach Shack is open from May to December. Like the rest of us, they don’t like their food soggy, so the Beach Shack is closed during the wet season from January until April.
2Fish, Port Douglas
Forget a spoonful of sugar and grab a bucket of tasty prawns at 2Fish, the practically perfect seafood restaurant. Their menu is spot on with underwater delights like bug tails, crab dumplings and salmon chowder. Fishy kids’ taste buds will be high fiving over the grilled or battered fish or calamari served with chips and salad.
Before their grub arrives, the kids can test their crafty skills and draw on the paper tablecloth or get amongst the activity bag fun (note: no need to raid your Mary Poppins’ sized bag for dinner distractions this time!).
Open: 7 days, lunch from midday and dinner from 5:30pm. Where: Shop 11, Coconut Grove Complex, 56 Macrossan St, Port Douglas. Hot tip: Mary’s spoonful of sugar serving suggestion may not be enough. Sweet-toothed friends may drool over their dessert menu, too.
Port Douglas Surf Club, Port Douglas
The chefs at the Port Douglas Surf Club may have had a little advice from our French furry friend and extraordinary chef, Remy. They’ve kept some old faithfuls on the menu, but they’ve also mixed it up with coral trout tacos, taro chips and salsa, steamed pork buns and tempura prawn sushi.
Book a table on the big open deck and take in the Four Mile Beach views. Ahhhhh. The kids won’t need any encouragement to finish their meals as there’s an epic enclosed playground right next door to the restaurant.
Open: 7 days from midday till 8:30pm. Where: Corner of Mowbray and the Esplanade, Port Douglas. Hot tip: Walk off your meals along Four Mile Beach and grab some family holiday snaps along the palm tree-lined strip.
Want more ideas for kid-friendly food and babyccino options? Here’s a few to keep up your sleeve:
Waffle On, 64A Shields Street, Cairns | Pretty sure they’ll smell even better than Shrek’s mate Donkey’s waffles.
Gelocchio, 9/93 The Esplanade, Cairns | Just like Mr Geppetto remembers it.
Jaffle Head, 39 Lake Street, Cairns | The waft of melted cheese and precisely cooked toasty goodness would be enough to wake Sleeping Beauty herself.
Rusty’s Market, 57-89 Grafton Street, Cairns | Better known for their fresh fruit and veg and good value market cafe, Aladdin and Abu wouldn’t need to employ their 5-finger discount ways at Rusty’s.
Brewhaha Espresso Bar, 141 Barnard Drive, Mount Sheridan | The perfect spot for some hard-working dwarfs to caffeinate before a long day of work.
Apex Milk Bar, 24 Hoare Street, Manunda | One bite and you’ll be taken back to Radiator Springs where burgers and shakes are served with Flo-level smile and sass.
Mondo’s on the Waterfront, 34 The Esplanade, Cairns | You’ll be able to let it go with Mondo’s good vibes and marina locale.
Palm Cove Surf Club, 135 Williams Esplanade, Palm Cove | Eat your chips before the seagulls from Nemo start swooping and squawking, “Mine! Mine! Mine!”
Before you cut loose in the tropics, ask the locals for their tips. Adventure Mumma is all over the best things to do with kids in Cairns.
And just in case you need more inspiration, here’s a round-up of the 20 best things to do with kids in Tropical North Queensland.
No holding back now. Where’s your go-to family restaurant or cafe in or around Cairns?
