5 Self-recs meme

I was tagged (uh, almost 2 months ago?) by @bittylildragon to post 5 recs of fic I've written, so here we go! I'm tagging @jaune-chat @potofsoup (art or fic, whatever!), @rubynye, @some-stars, and @spikeface, plus anyone else who is rarin’ to self-rec. No pressure on any of you, tho!

1. We are not wise (and not very often kind) - The Witcher: Aiden/Lambert, Lambert/OCs. Lambert’s a pretty fucked up character (and he has every reason to be in this fic), but damn do I love to see a fucked up character being loved until they believe it. That’s what happens to Lambert in this fic, and I’m really proud of it.

2. The Only Animal - Captain America: Bucky/Steve, Bucky/Hydra. One element of the MCU that fascinated me was how charming, gregarious Bucky Barnes became the Winter Soldier. This fic details how Hydra went about breaking Bucky, and it is prodigiously cruel. 

3. I’d Take a Bullet Meant for Both of Us - Star Trek: Kirk/McCoy. This Mirrorverse fic may have more sex in it than almost anything I’ve written (sit down Witcher omegaverse!), but what I really love about it is the character relationships. The Mirrorverse is hostile to loyalty and affection, but these characters can’t help themselves. As @rubynye said of this fic, “love in the Mirrorverse is at its purest because of everything it has to exist against.”

4. In My Master’s House - Sherlock: John/Sherlock, Lestrade/Mycroft. I end up with a slave AU in every damn fandom I write in, whoops. In this series, I accidentally ended up with two relationships of roughly equal importance, and feel good about the way I wove in canon events and character development (and sex). Only took me 3 years to write!

5. What I Didn’t Know Before - Witcher, Coën/Lambert. This one-shot, about touch-starved Coen, was the fic I needed after Season 2 of The Witcher. Show me Coen glassy-eyed and clinging to a sex worker, and I spin a yarn about how desperate he is for human contact.

Geralt is the ferier's kid who is training to take over the biz but also getting trained as a pony chiropractor bc he just want the babies to be happy

I just wanna see Geralt squirm bc he's not used to a boujee barn (like Roach lives in his backyard where he has a barn built in the 50's that was nice back then and there's trail access that his neighbors just let him ride on as long as he promises not to sue if anyone gets injured) and Jaskier is the kid who's been so driven to compete and win that he hasn't been on a trail ride that didn't include a photographer in years

I want Geralt to loose his shit and chew someone out for training their horse when they're clearly going lame and the stupid spoiled brat just can't see it or doesn't care.

I want the BaRn GoSsIp about the grumpy ferier's hot son who dresses like a punk rock icon except with black cowboy boots who is just SoFt with the horses

There's a joking rumor that hes magical and that's why even the psycho, jacked up, cross country horses are chill around him but it's just because he's so calm and gentle with them

There's a few girls (and guys) who ask him to check out their horses hocks regularly just to see him bend over. There's a round of stifled giggles and he's completely oblivious and thinks all these horses are just lazy af and faking lameness to get out of work

When he gets more comfortable in the barn he just like hangs out there? Jaskier is interesting to him and he likes his horse so like why not?

I thought of this last night and cannot get it out of my head. I'm obsessed.

You walked up the magnificent stone steps of a Baroque style home that could only be classified as a castle.

The sound of the Witcher’s horse's trotting steps could be heard, fading into the distance as you adjusted the strap of your dress and raised you fist to knock on the doors.

The door opened and your eyes widened when they beheld the man standing before you. He had dark hair that hung just slightly longer than his ears, and his face had a few days worth of stubble shadowing his jaw.

The man was thick and muscular and he wore a dark red henly that he'd pushed up to his elbows , revealing a metal arm on his left side.

You were momentarily frozen before you found your voice, “are you James?” You asked him.

The man smiled and reached out his arm to usher you inside as he looked over your shoulder, as if searching for the ever looming threat on your life.

You accidentally brushed against him as you entered. He smelled so good it almost brought you to your knees, and you felt your pussy flutter.

James coughed loudly, cleared his throat, and ran a hand through his hair as if nervous.

“Uhh sorry, just wanted to get ya out out of view from the street. Never know who could be watching.”

You nodded your head as you continued to take in the view of the thick, muscular man before you. His face was very handsome, but sad in a way.

For the WIP Ask Game, Wolf Witcher Yennefer and/or Geraskefer Historical AU? <3

i posted the geraskefer historical au here!

wolf witcher yennefer i actually already posted the first part of after writing it in one night, but i do have a second part planned! in the first chapter, yennefer, instead of portalling out of the barn to istredd at aretuza, ends up portalling to kaer morhen and meets a young geralt who's about to go through the trials. she tries to take her life just like in the show, but to save her life the witchers put her through the trial of the grasses and make her into a witcher. she's obviously pissed about it, about losing her choice.

in the second chapter, which i wrote a little bit of, she adjusts to her new abilities, and trains to become the best witcher there is. she loses touch with geralt after going out onto the path, but reconnects with him after hearing about the blaviken massacre. eventually they fall in love, and there was probably supposed to be some big thematic resolution too, but i never wrote it down and i don't remember 😭 so i'm not sure if it'll ever get finished, but i do at least have some of the beginning of chapter two written:

Yennefer has never been a poor maiden in her life��hunchbacked crone, the ladies at the market would say, ugly monstrous thing. She really is a monster, now, if her elven blood hadn’t marked her as one before. Cat’s eyes, unfeeling, unflinching, scarred—that’s what she is now. Ugliness lies inside and out.

Perching on a parapet, she thinks idly of jumping. But would it do the job? Her new body can take a lot, it seems—as she’d awkwardly made her way up here, still adjusting to a balanced spine, she’d stubbed her toe and hardly felt it at all. How much pain, how many bones breaking would she suffer, without dying?

She’s cowed by her most recent attempt. She won’t try again.

The sun sets, and her stomach growls, but she ignores it. She watches the stars as they rise, telling herself the stories of the constellations, but falls asleep partly through The Hunter and the Bear.

She wakes up the next morning and Geralt is lying beside her. When she sits up dizzyingly fast, he wakes as well.

“You need to come down,” she expects to hear, but he only offers a crooked smile and sits up. He’s too close, suddenly, and it makes some instinct inside of her rouse. Without thinking, she puts her hands on his chest and shoves him away, scrambling to her feet after.

The smile falls off his face as he falls backwards, back hitting the stone with a loud thud, all of his breath leaving him in a whoosh. He flounders like a fish, the wind knocked out of him by her shove—which hadn’t been that forceful, she thought, but apparently she’s much stronger now.

“Sorry,” she whispers.

He wheezes, but waves a hand dismissively. “’S fine,” he says, once he’s caught his breath. “’M used to it. Sparring.”

Witcher/Wayward Children AU

For those who don't know, Every Heart a Doorway is the first book in a lovely series by Seanan Mcguire about a school for people. Who basically go to Narnia, or wonderland, or Halloween town, etc, and come back, and have to learn to live with being back here, potentially for the rest of their lives, and also like relearn how to actually function in the world.

Maybe one day they will find their door again (their wardrobe, their platform, the hedge that once took them to meet the last of the Really Great Wangdoodles, etc), But probably they won't, even assuming that they would want to go back if they could.

Some of them grew old and are teenagers again, some of them never grew up at all, some of them have had completely radically different bodies this whole time, the stories all vary.

But this is a place where they can be with other people who have half a hope of understanding where they've been and what they've been through, and can help them to learn to be in the world again, For however long they're here.

So I want The AU of this that is the Witcher crew. So many of them have stories that involve something happening to them as children and then them going through insane unique childhoods, far from their parents, designed to forge them into the kinds of beings that can do very unusual and unique work, very tailored to their specific job, the specific requirements of their world.

Maybe Geralt, As a little redheaded child, wandered off from his home into the snow and he stepped just right between the right two trees, or into the mouth of a cave, and right into Kaer Morhen, and a world full of monsters.

Maybe little Yenna cried in her father's barn one day, hoping for some magical faerie to take her away... And portaled into her world, of mages and mysticism and politics and pain.

Feels like Jaskier's would totally be a fae type story...

And then at some point, Yen portled to the right place, or Geralt entered the right cave etc.... And they were back.

And they have years certainly, maybe lifetimes, of skills and experiences in these other worlds, but even if they could get back... Well. For now at least, they're all together.

And Yen gave up so much to learn her place there-- maybe she's fury, and spends a great deal of her free time trying to research, to plan, to figure a way back.

Geralt, however he is physically, he's definitely hypervigillant. Complete insomniac-- relic of years on The Path, where meditation was all he could afford lest some Beasty eat him. Always extremely aware of everyone, every move, every sound. Finds it Very hard to relax (except maybe the school does animal therapy, and he can chill out with the horses. They'd let him know, if something was gonna happen).

And they look out for each other. They know not to touch Renfri without permission, Not unless you want to scare her and get lightly stabbed in the process. but Sometimes you Have to touch Jaskier, when he's been playing too long, when you can tell his fingers are going to be sore, maybe bleed, beacause in Faerie the revelry lasts for years without cease.

And there are some light X-Men vibes here too-- maybe Geralt/Jask/Yen's cohort have "graduated", or are young adults or full adults, and a young girl with ashen hair shows up at the school. She fell into the sea as a child, screamed once, went under, and desperately kicked for the surface, not a very strong swimmer, but when her head broke through, it was to see a Skelligen Ship, and a man called Eist fished her from the water and whisked her off to live as a princess alongside a warrior queen. But one day that country fell, and she was almost killed, and when she screamed... the door opened again... And she was back.

And she'd been missing for at least a decade, and her father Emhyr had long since mourned her, and he didn't know what to do with her, but he had heard of the school where you could send troubled kids with delusions... So Ciri comes to the school for wayward children.

(And then I suppose there must be some plot. XD)

my own fic about this will be going up on ao3 tomorrow, it’s planned to eventually span all of jaskier’s childhood + staying at kaer morhen though so buckle up kids we’re in for the long haul until then, here are some fun facts about this au:

Vesemir follows after Alfred into Kaer Morhen and offers to treat his injured hand, Alfred is charmed by how gently Vesemir handles him despite his gruff demeanour and the fact that he just punched one of his sons

Vesemir knows Geralt won't even bruise from that hit and the idiot confessed himself that he drove away his bard but he's still impressed that Alfred had the guts to do it

He compliments Alfred's bravery and the professor loses all of his cool immediately 

Vesemir…likes that more than he thinks he should, plus Alfred's got really soft curls and lovely warm brown eyes…

Tender homoerotic wrapping of a bandage around a hand ensues

After that it's gay panic 2: electric boogaloo because both of them thought they would be single dads forever? And haven't dated anyone in decades?? or just haven’t dated full stop???

They get drunk with each other and bond over the struggles of parenting and huh, they actually have a lot of things in common...

Vesemir enjoys flirting with Alfred to watch that unflappable veneer break and because he gets a lot of reactions from people, fear, hatred, respect but adorably flustered has never been one of them, it’s...nice

Alfred is delighted to learn that he can fluster Vesemir back by writing poetry about him and then reading it aloud for 'feedback'

It cumulates to Alfred leaning on his shoulder while reciting a piece about the witcher’s strong arms, tilting his head up at Vesemir once he’s finished with that soft grin that doesn’t belong anywhere near the harshness of an old witcher 

Vesemir snaps, closing the distance between their lips and yeah, he’s still got it 

So does Alfred, despite the fact that he’s fourty

“My dear, as flattering as that assumption is, I’m 61.” “Wait, what? you’re barely even greying???”

Because Alfred has the dubious honour of being the first human to be a member of the fae court and their magic just kind of rubbed off on him

The court turned up to recruit Jaskier due to spike of distinctly fae magic surrounding Oxenfurt but Alfred was like my kid is 11 he's not doing anything other than colouring in and chasing frogs

So he became Jaskier's legal representative

This event marks the point in Alfred's life when he just gave up and was like fine fuck it, my life's already weird enough, let's just do this

(fun oxenfurt academy fact: if you hear faint yelling from the forest, that’s just professor pankratz doing some stress relief, you can even differentiate what he’s stressed about, there’s the general stress scream, the Jaskier stress scream and the ‘my students are idiots’ stress scream)

It becomes much more amusing when he realises that he's the only one who can lie in court

He gets away with talking shit because he passes it off as oh, just his oblivious child’s words and even if they ask, he knows Jaskier will automatically back him up cause his son loves drama

This is also when he learns that he's accidently trained Jaskier to be a terrifying powerhouse because Alfred had no preconceived notions of what should be impossible with magic so Jaskier regularly breaks fae magic rules without batting an eye while his newly assigned tutors scream in frustration

The court is less mean than they could be though because usually fae have to trick humans into adopting changelings but then Alfred just did it. it wasn’t even disguised as his kid??? Just a random child??? And he just adopted him with no prompting???

Alfred’s like yeah? what else was I supposed to do???

Also the reason Jaskier doesn't use his last name is because Pankratz is recognizable as the name of the bestselling author who wrote all those beautiful poems about the joys of having a son and how precious his child is to him

Medieval equivalent of your parents showing off your baby pictures to your friends except instead of friends it's the entire continent, dad! no one is going to take me seriously when they know me as your ‘baby buttercup’!

I’m back after my hiatus from fanfiction, to give y’all the best multifandom recs of the fics I read this month. Shoutout to all content creators who helped us live to see the close of this year. Derek in sweats and bare feet, nudging his glasses up his nose while he does the Sunday crossword? Unff. Derek filling out forms to get some renovations on his property approved? Oh God, yes. Derek putting away groceries and bitching that the corner store was out of the right type of Greek yogurt? Take me now, Stiles thinks, worrying at his lower lip with his teeth.

Most recent news foretold of their plans to throw a midsummer festival celebrating this newfound god. In preparation, silken blue banners were erected in every corner of the town, each bearing the symbol of their new patron: A delicate dandelion wrapping around a golden sun.
