What are your thoughts on asking for help from a diety you haven't interacted with before? If you are against it, what level of interaction would you consider acceptable before making a request?

Hey! Thanks a bunch for the ask!! Here are my thoughts.

It’s ok to ask for something from a deity you haven’t worshipped or worked with before, but it probably won’t work.

It’s like going up to a stranger and asking them to help you move your car. Sure, they might be in a helping mood, or they might like your vibes and want to lend a hand, but 9 times out of 10, they’ll say no, and you have to respect that.

If you do ask any entity for help that you haven’t interacted with, please leave a really good, thoughtful offering, and show lots of respect. Leave an offering REGARDLESS of if they help or not, and if they do help, leave an additional offering as a thank you.

The deities most willing to help are the ones you already have a relationship with. Even if it’s something out of their “domain”, chances are they can still lend a hand, and they’d be much more willing to help than someone else.

I started this back in 2023, when this was first posted. I never got around to finishing it until today. This is a super long post, so feel free to skip it!

I am solitary, but I wish I were in a coven.

2. Do you consider yourself Wiccan, Pagan, witch, or other?

I consider myself a Pagan and a witch.

3. What is your zodiac sign?

I am a Pisces!

4. Do you have a Patron God/dess?

No, but I devote to multiple deities!

5. Do you work with a Pantheon?

I work with multiple Gods and Goddesses from Greek pantheon, but I also work with the Norse god Loki

6. Do you use tarot, palmistry, or 
any other kind of divination?

Tarot and pendulum mainly, but I want to learn palmistry and tasseography. I’m also hoping to build up a osteomancy or charm casting set.

7. What are some of your favorite herbs to use in your practice? (if any)

Cinnamon, bay leaves, salts, saffron

8. How would you define your craft?

Eclectic? I’m not sure.

9. Do you curse? If not, do you accept others who do?

I don’t curse, I don’t have anyone in my life I feel the need to curse. I do 100% support those who do curse though!

10. How long have you been practicing?

Since the pandemic in 2020. So, four years.

11. Do you currently or have you ever had any familiars?

No to both

12. Do you believe in Karma or
Reincarnation?

I’m not sure what my belief is on these. I think energy can’t be destroyed or created, so I think the energy from your life lives on after you die, but I don’t know if I would necessarily call it reincarnation. I also don’t know if that energy contains your consciousness, so I’m not sure if you’d even be aware after you die.

13. Do you have a magical name?

No. I’m lame.

14. Are you “out of the broom closet”?

Yes! Both of my parents know I’m a witch and they support me.

15. What was the last spell you performed?

A self love spell!

16. Would you consider yourself knowledgeable?

Yes! I’ve been researching for years and have accumulated a lot of knowledge and I've practiced quite a few spells, know quite a bit on deities, and have quite a bit of experience.I do think we’re always learning though, and no one person knows everything.

17. Do you write your own spells?

Yes, all of them.

18. Do you have a book of shadows?
If so, how is it written and/or set up?

I do! I’m not sure how to describe how it’s written or set up.

19. Do you worship nature?

Yes! Of course!

20. What is your favorite gemstone?

Raw blue quartz, moss agate, or selenite.

21. Do you use feathers, claws, fur, pelt, skeletons/bones, or any other animal body part for magical work?

No I don’t use them in my workings, but I collect them. I want to make an osteomancy set with parts some day.

I used to have several, but I moved and now I only have two.

Earth.

24. Do you consider yourself an Alchemist?

No.

I am also a Pagan and a polytheist.

26. What got you interested in witchcraft?

The fact that I felt ostracized from Christianity and wanted to take my spiritual journey into my own hands and find deities I feel care for me, and a community that didn’t hate me or tell me God hated me.

27. Have you ever performed a spell or ritual with the company of anyone who was not a witch?

No.

No. Not yet, at least

No, I don’t have any clairs and don’t want clairs. I’m content with regular abilities!

Anything you’re interested in can be incorporated into your craft.

I do! I like Ostara because some years it falls on my birthday.

Yes, but if they weren’t interested in it I would let them choose what they want to do.

I believe so! My first spell was a protection spell.

41. What’s the craziest witchcraft-related thing that’s happened to you?

That time I used a pendulum board and Apollo told me about this condition where it is caused by not peeing often enough.  I took it as him telling me to drink more water.

I like using those colored dollar tree glass pillar candles

43. What is your favorite witchy tool?

Candles and incense and pendulums. I use them a lot for offerings and deity work

I’ve made a few candles, but not for my witchcraft practice. I’d like to make candles for my deities.

Gods and Goddesses, but I’d like to learn more about the fae and nature spirits.

In physical stores. Mostly at dollar tree...lol

I meditate and leave offerings for my deities.

People who don’t think closed practices are real, or, even worse, recognize but don’t respect closed practices

YES!!!! My favorite is the one Lord Apollon insists on me offering to him, which is lavender scented. I also really like the sugar cookie incense I have.

No, but I’d like to.

I haven’t had any “disasters” so far

I guess my self love charm. It’s kept me hopeful during a difficult time and it was really nice.

I guess talking out loud to my deities. I don’t have a door and I live with my parents, so I always whisper and end up giggling because of how stupid I feel.

Yes, of course! Witchcraft is a practice, not a religion.

No, thankfully.

Also no, thankfully. I feel secure in my practice and know that if I’m not doing something right my deities will let me know and help me adjust.

My ex-girlfriend is a Jehovah's Witness and broke up with me after she found out I was a Pagan.

No? I didn’t know that was a thing!!! That sounds epic.

Yes, for sure.

Being able to use my art to create both symbolic and physical change in my life, and being in a community who (for the most part) supports me and doesn’t discriminate against my identity.

I like pretty much everything about my practice and faith. I guess if I had to pick something it’d be people who don’t understand or try to convert witches.

I don’t know what qualifies as “Pagan Music”, so I guess not.

I celebrate full and new moons, mostly by making moon water, but sometimes doing rituals depending on the moon phase.

Yes! I feel loved and free, and like I am able to be myself. I also love being in tune with nature and the Gods.

Not sure what this question means, but I mainly draw from Hellenic polytheism.

77. Do you believe in ‘fantasy’ creatures? (Unicorns, fairies, elves, gnomes, ghosts, etc)

Some of those, but not all of them. I believe in the fae, but not how they’ve been portrayed in media. I also believe in ghosts, but again, not how they’ve been portrayed on TV and stuff.

78. What’s your favorite sigil/symbol?

I make all my own sigils, so I have many favorites I use. I like the pentacle.

79. Do you use blood magick in your practice? Why or why not?

No. I am a minor, so I won’t offer pee, scat, or blood to deities or the universe. I also don’t put any of those in spells. I don’t think I will, even after I become an adult; it’s just not my thing.

80. Could you ever be in a relationship with someone who doesn’t support your practice?

Apparently not (like I said earlier, my ex-gf dumped me because of it). I think it’s fair to disagree with my practice, but if they’re actively going against me because of my religious beliefs, it probably wouldn’t work out.

81. In what area or subject would you most like your craft to grow?

Shadow work and self improvement

82. What’s your favorite candle scent? Do you use it in your practice?

All my candles are unscented, but I really liked the “Champagne Toast” scent I had in an old candle. I have it as a lotion and body wash now.

No, I do not.

84. What real life witch most inspires your practice?

I don’t know many real life witches!

PENDULUM!!!!!

They’re all either on one of my altars or in my kitchen cabinet.

My path is full of things I enjoy, and has a very prevalent focus on deity work, divination, and small/simple spells and rituals. I feel like I work with more Gods and Goddesses than most people do, so I guess that’s unique?

Nope!

If it’s a closed religion, you need to be initiated by someone in the religion. If it’s an open religion, I think you can initiate yourself, if initiation is what fits your fancy.

91. When you first started out in your path what was the first thing or things you bought?

Itty bitty spell jars from Dollar Tree. And a beefy candle second hand, and some incense.

92. What is the most spiritual or magickal place you’ve been?

My own bedroom with all of my candles lit and soft music playing.

93. What’s one piece of advice you’d give someone who is searching for their matron and patron deities?

Take things slow, get to know your deities, and don’t forget to show respect to them and their time.

94. What techniques do you use to ‘get in the zone’ for meditation?

Breathing and music

95. Did visualization come easily to you or did you have to practice at it?

I can’t really visualize very well, as I can’t see things in my mind. I’m pretty good about thinking out words in my brain though to depict these scenes.

Night! I feel like it’s so peaceful when everyone is asleep

Whenever and wherever you're most focused, relaxed, and in tune with the world around you.

I’m not Wiccan, so I don’t cast circles. I do cleanse my room and set intentions before starting a spell or opening a communication line.

99. Do you believe witchcraft gets easier with time and practice?

Yes!

100. Do you believe in many gods or one God with many faces?

I believe in many gods that change how they appear based on different cultural contexts. For example, I think that all Zeus is just the Greek rendition of Thor, and vice versa. And that all the Gods of Hellenism can get a makeover and make up the Christian God. I think depending on who's worshipping and their culture, they may pray and worship a different deity, but ultimately they’re all syncratic, just in different contexts, which makes them take a different shape and have different qualities, which makes them somewhat different deities. TLDR; Both.

101. Do you eat meat, eggs and dairy?

I try not to, but it’s hard given our financial situation. It's cheaper to eat non-vegan in America than it is to eat plant based.

102. What is your favorite color and why?

Black! I feel confident in black, and all my clothing is black.

103. What is the one question you get asked most by non-practitioners or non-pagans? How do you usually respond?

I don’t really talk about my paganism with people in real life, so I don’t come across people who aren’t practitioners too often. I had a friend who’s interested in Hellenism, and we talked about that for a while, but I wouldn’t call them a “non-practitioner”.

What can indicate intense eye contact with some one? Is that something astrology can tell? 🤔

Intense Eye Contact

—Sag sun are masters of strong eye contact. They have that wise beyond their years look. Like they’ve been alive for centuries and this is another re-run of their last shitty trial.

—Scorpio degrees/big 6 placements have strong eye contact. And some may avoid it actually because it feels too intimate. Everytime they look at someone its as if they’re skinning them to see their soul.

—Virgo 8h is another one. Always staring at you to figure out who you are behind what you say. Studies your body language to a T. They don’t take anything at face value. Bonus points if mercury sits in the 8h.

—Aquarius placements/stellium their stares penetrate through flesh and bone. They have this manic pixie look at first and it drives you in real deep, you have no idea what you’re signing up for.

—Mars 1h undressing you with their eyes, both in the spiritual sense and physical :) id say this is more so spiritual if they have strong neptune asp to personal planets, neptune conj mars, pisces/cancer placements. They just want to read your soul, but often comes across like they’re trying to figure out what color your underwear is. (Love ya mars 1h)

—Taurus placements have so much soul and rhythm behind their eyes. Serenade me. Hold me. Beautiful gazes, like gazelle. Reminds me of 90s rhythm and blues.

—Cap Venus has that look, similar to a thousand mile yard stare but more solemn. Tranquil. Somber. Always aching for more and wishing for what could’ve been. It moves you.

—Saturn dom has a resting bitch face, it’s iconic. Always looks annoyed or slightly disgusted at something they saw. Rarely stays for long so you can really see the depth in their eyes. Quick glances, or long drawn out eye contact so you know your place, especially if you messed with them.

—Gemini moon can also have intense eye contact. They’re always analyzing the moment and studying in their head, so it looks as if they’re focused innately on you. Paired with Leo gives them a languid, sultry stare. Feline like and does not approach first, no, they invite you with their eyes.

—Pluto-venus asp is another one entirely. Crash and burn with me gaze. Catch me if you can. Play games with me and chase after me. Never gives away their real intentions, always hidden with that same smirk and their flaunting eyes.

—Cancer moon looks absolutely whimsical, embodying the stars. Droopy, bedroom eyes. Can have a delicate tilt to their head when they listen to you. God, it really draws you in. Like two pools of honey, warming you.

—Neptune asp personal planets. A stare you can’t explain. Dreamy, hazy, personal yet you’re placed on the outside. Feels like a sacred reunion when they look at you, adorning you. Strange familiarity like they’ve always known you.

That is the problem. If she wanted to dance, I would let her wreck the furniture. If she wanted to cook, I would let her burn down the house and if she wanted to scream, I would let her deafen me. I’ve never loved anyone enough to let them destroy me but God, she could take me by the throat and my eyes would sparkle at the mere inches between us.

They think you're smart, cool and confident. You make them laugh, you might have a great sense of humour. They also think that you carry yourself very well and you're an all-rounder. You might be creative and good at different kinds of indoor and outdoor activities. Anyone who cares about you has to realize that you need a little looking after, nothing else really matters.

Hello!

What tipe of student do you think Harry were? Was he academicaly average? Do you think that any professor had him as favorite student?

Well, we know his O.W.L grades:

(HBP)

And these are great grades. Like, E is Exceeds Expectations because it exceeds expectations, it's beyond what's required.

O.W.Ls loosely mirror irl O-levels that are taken at 16, and N.E.W.Ts loosely mirror A-levels that are taken at 18 (the grading system and the exam system have changed over the years). But, if we look at the grades for the GCSE and O-Levels compared to the O.W.L, I think it would be something like this:

GCSE grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) – Certificate and qualification awarded. At GCSE, considered a 'standard pass', and awards a qualification at Level 2. GCSE grades 3 to 1 (D to G) – Certificate and qualification awarded. At GCSE, awards a qualification at Level 1. U: ungraded/unclassified – no certificate or qualification awarded.

Since, let's be real, the Wizarding World is using an older standard than the muggle one. Also, this fits the descriptions we get of the grades in the W.O.M.B.A.T.s exams pretty well:

Passing: Outstanding - CONGRATULATIONS! Your exemplary powers of deduction and a formidable knowledge of the inner workings of the magical world reveal you to be a witch or wizard of genuine skill and learning. This first examination has barely tested you. We look forward to challenging you to a further and more difficult examination in due course. Exceeds Expectations - Well done - a most creditable performance! We are impressed by the breadth of your magical knowledge and your level of insight into the wizarding world. We hope that you will attempt our next, and more difficult, examination in due course. Passing: Acceptable - We are pleased to tell you that you have passed your Grade 1 W.O.M.B.A.T. Your knowledge of the workings of the wizarding world demonstrates real magical potential. We hope that you will continue to study further and attempt W.O.M.B.A.T. Grade 2 in due course. Failing: Poor - Alas - we regret to inform you that you have narrowly failed your Grade 1 W.O.M.B.A.T. This may have been due to factors outside your control (eg: poltergeist intervention, examination nerves or a malfunctioning quill.). Please do not disconsolate. Another examination will present itself in due course, should you wish to try again. Dreadful - We are sorry to inform you that you have failed your Grade 1 W.O.M.B.A.T. The point is that E is a good grade and Harry (and Ron) can get very good grades with little to no study. If they had studied as much as Hermione, they would be O students too.

Like, we see N.E.W.T Potions has only 12 out of the original 40 in the whole year:

When they arrived in the corridor they saw that there were only a dozen people progressing to N.E.W.T. level. Crabbe and Goyle had evidently failed to achieve the required O.W.L. grade, but four Slytherins had made it through, including Malfoy. Four Ravenclaws were there, and one Hufflepuff, Ernie Macmillan, whom Harry liked despite his rather pompous manner.

Only 12 out of 40 get an E or O in Potions (Harry, Ron & Hermione are the only Gryffindors in the class). We know Neville managed an E in Charms but only got an A in Transfiguration. Getting an E is considered hard and not something everyone does. I mean, in DADA, even Hermione didn't get an O! Becouse being "really good" gets an E, you gotta be truly exceptional to get an O.

The "average" student passes 3-5 O.W.Ls (Neville only passed 4 O.W.Ls. Fred and George passed 3 each and it doesn't seem odd to anyone - though in their case it's not because they're average, but because they didn't care about school), good students probably get 6-7 O.W.Ls and very good students get 8-10 O.W.Ls with only extremely talented students passing more than that. And passing doesn't inherently qualify you for N.E.W.T classes. So, Harry (7 O.W.Ls, and he might've passed history with an A if it wasn't for the visions from Voldemort since he didn't even finish the exam) and Ron (7 O.W.Ls) are actually above-average students in terms of grades.

(Some subjects, like Charms, are considered easier than subjects like Potions and Transfiguration, so the percentages there would look a little different)

And his teachers think of him positively for the most part:

“You see what you expect to see, Severus,” said Dumbledore, without raising his eyes from a copy of Transfiguration Today. “Other teachers report that the boy is modest, likable, and reasonably talented. Personally, I find him an engaging child.”

McGonagall has no qualms about Harry wanting to be an auror because she knows he is intelligent:

“You’d need top grades for that,” said Professor McGonagall, extracting a small, dark leaflet from under the mass on her desk and opening it. “They ask for a minimum of five N.E.W.T.s, and nothing under ‘Exceeds Expectations’ grade, I see. Then you would be required to undergo a stringent series of character and aptitude tests at the Auror office. It’s a difficult career path, Potter; they only take the best. In fact, I don’t think anybody has been taken on in the last three years.” [...] “I would also advise Transfiguration, because Aurors frequently need to Transfigure or Untransfigure in their work. And I ought to tell you now, Potter, that I do not accept students into my N.E.W.T. classes unless they have achieved ‘Exceeds Expectations’ or higher at Ordinary Wizarding Level. I’d say you’re averaging ‘Acceptable’ at the moment, so you’ll need to put in some good hard work before the exams to stand a chance of continuing. Then you ought to do Charms, always useful, and Potions. Yes, Potter, Potions,” she added, with the merest flicker of a smile. “Poisons and antidotes are essential study for Aurors. And I must tell you that Professor Snape absolutely refuses to take students who get anything other than ‘Outstanding’ in their O.W.L.s, so —”

Harry reminds me a lot of my younger brother when he was a high school student honestly (Ron, too, tbh). Because he's really smart, and he could get Os (As) in all his subjects if he felt like it and put it the effort, and McGonagall knows this. The only reason he doesn't get top grades is because he doesn't apply himself, and we see it in the books repeatedly.

We see he does his homework on time, but he usually stays up on the last night to make it, like Ron:

“Come on, we’ve got to get this finished some time before dawn,” he said briskly to Harry, pulling Professor Sinistra’s essay back toward him. Hermione was looking at Ron with an odd expression on her face. “Oh, give them here,” she said abruptly. “What?” said Ron. “Give them to me, I’ll look through them and correct them,” she said. “Are you serious? Ah, Hermione, you’re a lifesaver,” said Ron, “what can I — ?” “What you can say is, ‘We promise we’ll never leave our homework this late again,’ ” she said, holding out both hands for their essays, but she looked slightly amused all the same. “Thanks a million, Hermione,” said Harry weakly, passing over his essay and sinking back into his armchair, rubbing his eyes.

And that he doesn't study for exams as much as he could (he usually spends the end of the year at the hospital wing, so, it makes sense). Basically, Harry is really smart and he manages to get passing grades on basically no study at all. That's really impressive. Like, McGonagall, I believe that with just minimal effort he could be an almost all-Os student. And when he does study just a little more (like to the O.W.Ls) he does get higher grades.

But he did read his school books before his first year:

Harry kept to his room, with his new owl for company. He had decided to call her Hedwig, a name he had found in A History of Magic. His school books were very interesting. He lay on his bed reading late into the night, Hedwig swooping in and out of the open window as she pleased.

And he entered his first Potions class with the intention of studying properly, he read the books before class in the measly month he had to prepare:

“I don’t know, sir.” “Thought you wouldn’t open a book before coming, eh, Potter?” Harry forced himself to keep looking straight into those cold eyes. He had looked through his books at the Dursleys’, but did Snape expect him to remember everything in One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi?

So, I think, in canon, since Harry has so much else going on (mysteries and misadventures) and Ron is a bad influence on his studies (I love Ron, but he is a bad influence on Harry's studies), he waits with most of his assignments to the last moment and doesn't study as much as he could. But he does make them and except for Potions with Snape, he gets decent grades for them. If he had more free time without a mystery to solve, we'd probably see him doing homework earlier and maybe putting in more effort. But even with close to minimal effort (which is what he does), he is a student with good grades who most teachers clearly see as smart and capable.

Edit becouse I forgot to mention it: we see Harry apply himself to studying potions in HBP when he spends hours deciphering the Prince's notes, and lo and behold, when Harry takes time to study he becomes an O student at the top of the class in his supposedly "worst subject". Just goes to show it's all about effort for him because he has the brain and talent.

Harry is the student that if Hogwarts had parent-teacher conferences (and Harry had parents), McGonagall would be all like: "He is bright and has potential if he only applied himself".

And that sentence is Harry as a student in a nutshell.

sebastian was taken aback for the briefest moment, his sharp wit momentarily silenced by the sight of you lighting up like the warmest lumos charm upon seeing him. his usual composed demeanour would falter and give way to an almost unbearable boyish grin that he couldn't seem to suppress.

when you ran toward him, he would instinctively open his arms, catching you with a soft laugh that belied the swirling emotions he felt.

"someone's missed me," he would tease, always in a voice warm with affection. however, his hug would last just a little bit longer than he'd meant for it to, his grip tightening ever so slightly as though he couldn't quite believe how much he had missed you too.

the smile remained as he put you back down, but something about his face felt a bit different, an air of vulnerability that quickly vanished beneath his usual confident facade. “careful,” he said with a teasing lilt, “keep running at me like that, and i might start thinking you actually like me.”

despite the teasing words, his heart would betray him, hammering in his chest as if you’d just cast an unforgivable charm on his soul. the truth was, you lighting up like that might’ve been the most magical thing he'd seen in a long time.

Your legs can be very sexually appealing, like I’m seeing people would imagine you wearing garters, knee length boots, stockings, ripped tights. Or skirts that show off your legs! Maybe it’s toned and your skin is really smooth, and I heard it gives off an airbrushed appearance so people find that very alluring. I would imagine you guys walk with a powerful stride too, you’re always looking to where you’re going and not necessarily at people which makes them feel intimidated. Definitely not your fault you’re confident! Some of you may also walk delicately and quietly and you may scare people lol. Pile 2: Hello there pile 2! Immediately I saw someone countering someones idea, opinion or argument. I feel you know how to argue, and not through yelling or cursing necessarily. But by fact checking people and it puts them in their place. People feel intimidated by your knowledge, and are especially drawn in by the banter you provide. I feel like you’re a diva, and you know this! You know beauty also comes from intelligence as well and maybe you’re an air sign! Libra aquarius and gemini. Or have an air venus. You can earth too, taurus virgo and Capricorn. Ya’ll are sarcastic, and have a dry humor other people find themselves reeling towards. I think people also give off strong reactions around you, whether it be from love bombing to rejecting you, and it’s not because you did anything wrong or you’re “different.” Your ability to alchemize is felt very strong, so maybe you have pluto strong in your chart—but your energy is felt leaking into peoples subconscious. Especially those who haven’t healed from past wounds its enlightened even more when they’re with you, which makes people feel the need to deflect, hide and project onto you. Because your knowledge scares them. And it also turns people on around you, with what you know. I also feel you may prefer to dress modest, simple and it leaves more to the imagination. People may wonder what you look like under neath. When you go to the gym, people may wonder what your progress looks like under that hoodie or sweatpants. They’re enamored by what they can’t see and they love it. Someone here could be muslim, I’m also getting that message. If you wear a hijab, people love your eyes and your features that pop out beautifully. They find your eyes to be striking and this goes for those who wear a hijab or not! It reminds me of earth & air energy which I already mentioned. You guys keep up with the trends and I think you try to not follow it necessarily, but you adjust it to your advantage. So if you see clothes that are trending you’ll adjust it so it isnt a direct copy, but a mixture of what you like and its sexy. Sexy because it works for you. I feel as though people want to peek into your mind to know what you’re thinking and feeling. How does your mind work? It’s mysterious and hidden which leaves people guessing which adds to your appeal. People also may fantasize about being “chosen” by you. Having your time, energy, attention, smile, jokes, etc. they can feel jealous when you’re giving that to someone else. Pile 3: Hey pile 3, I don’t know why but I saw Mariah Carey singing “its time,” for Christmas 😭 so maybe y’all like that meme a lot, or you love winter and you’re excited to celebrate. Or your energy is super fun! My ear is ringing so—someone has a strong presence of spirit guides and angels here! Or a loved one that passed away is what I heard which I know isn’t a focus of the reading, just needed to say it. Moving on, I feel as though people fantasize about being in your arms. Like, your gaze might be very soft and loving and people fantasize about being held that way when they look at you.
