Everyone just needs to either go outside and touch grass or, I don’t know, take a Xanax. I get that a lot of people really got into shipping them after the amazing promo tour, but honestly, it’s spiraled into a bit of delusion that is worrisome. It was 100% what I was worried about happening even up to the night of the premiere when I figured we’d get photos with A.

I’m staring at my YouTube screen right now and one of the recommended videos is about the dangers of parasocial relationships in East Asia, where there is a lot more of this very deliberate marketing of people with their characters, and it really is making me think I should watch it Because I feel like we’re hitting that same place here 

It’s really getting out of hand tbh. At the end of the day these are all real human beings and none of them owes us anything. I feel like people who have less of their own lives are trying to be puppet masters for these people and make them act in a way they would wish for their own lives. I’ll admit that even being in the fandom isn’t really a good sign for mental health (and that includes me too) but can’t we keep our crazy to ourselves, people? Like, don’t take it too far maybe.

Ahhhhh Ateez was insane 😭😭 there were so many sweet atinys around us and I got the cutest freebies <3 we tried to get merch beforehand but it was SO much more crowded this time around so a lot of it was sold out which was such a bummer ☹️ I did manage to get a Seonghwa picket but I’m gonna try to get there a little earlier for tomorrow’s show for a tshirt 🫶 fingers crossed they have them in stock this time ! I did feel super bad bc Seonghwa’s grandfather passed away the day before my show so he was crying during his ments and I just wanted to give him the biggest hug ☹️ I hope he’s doing a little better but I can’t imagine how hard it must be for him 💔 I just landed in LA a few hours ago so I’ll let you know how tomorrow’s show goes !!

i mean i wish paramore did more shows outside of us especially asia and europe but everything is about money... the truth is that their popularity in the u.s. doesn't come close to anywhere else in the world besides uk/ie maybe. for example ppl from latin america are always loudly mad at them but the truth is that tix for example in argentina didn't sell out, travelling there is very costly and their revenue is far better in the u.s., like tix in columbia were by far the cheapest from all the shows they've played. and in brasil for example considering its population they played very small shows there too. also looking at the past their popularity in asia accumulates in philippines and indonesia, they are not popular in japan or china, so asia tour is quite a trip (they usually prefer to play festivals there). in europe they played very small venues during after laughter and didn't sell out. even looking at aus/nz tour they should do at least one show in perth (or adelaide) but they don't... so yeah it just makes sense for them to keep playing in the u.s. esp considering that they didn't even finish the tour (portland, slc), skipped chicago which is huge, didn't do a proper boston, phoenix, nashville arena tour shows in years either. also doubt it will be a full tour as hayley said "a few shows"... btw i'm not aiming this rant at you ash as you get these things, but in general just saying that many people get mad at them while they (meaning their team) are just following what financially makes sense for them

well idc tbh. i'm not saying paramore are hugely popular in asia, their popularity is primarily in the us and the uk/ie (i'd say the popularity there matches the us they are extremeeeeeeely loved over here), but they literally do always go to asia, even if it's a few shows only, which they're more than capable of filling up enough. they've been to japan plenty of times, hell in 2006 they performed there like 6 times, also looking at the korean side of twitter and other sns they would love to see paramore too, their shows in ph have always been incredible, so it's not like they're incapable of getting people into venues there. as for europe too, they did small venues and then they did arenas and some were also still small as it was probably what was available, but they literally have ALWAYS done uk & europe together so it was weird they didn't this era.... so idk. i'm just tired of the us getting everything and half the fans taking it for granted or deciding they have to go all around the world too when they've seen them like 472863733 times in the us already. i'm just frustrated with it all.

i think the cb period this time is a bit much bc it’s so late in the year which means awards season and year end shows. imo the worst was when they had mucore for the first time and had enconnect night on the same day. if they didnt have mucore per usual it wouldve been fine bc they had the whole day to rest up and get ready for inki the day after… i guess it’s kind of like either we didnt have it in the first place or it shouldve been another date that’s not so late in the day 😭

while i think the dec-jan schedule is kinda normal (re year end shows) the problem FOR ME is the asia tour scheduling. it feels rlly soon and i wish they couldve just started it in february instead of jan (first dates are literally on the 13th) so they really couldve rest up first before starting tour again in feb. ++ while everyone complained abt seoul encore i think it’s expected and i think the dates line up pretty well. im also expecting a japan encore tbh bc that’s what happened last tour too

not sure what exactly is the rush to finish up everything before march but it might line up with cb prep 😂 so far only m:d1 - dark blood gap is the odd one out (10 months) the rest is 5-7 months max between each release so well. 😂😂😂😂

ya of course i'll post spoilery thoughts tonight but overall i really enjoyed it.

shang chi at its core was a mix of two v disparate genres: high-brow fantasy and family drama. at the film's centre was the xu family that got torn apart by a tragedy that sent each of them spiraling into grief — and how they coped with it.

wenwu chose violence — to get revenge — but it didn't bring him closure, and his grief was one of the main motivations behind his actions. it made him delusional, lonely, and isolated, which was fodder for his conspiratorial thinking that carried the action forward.

shang chi ran away rather than to deal with his grief and when the movie opened, he lived a life that wasn't his — not really. rather, it was a life convenient enough to make him forget about his past and live as an ordinary underdog in san francisco.

ying li was a towering presence in the movie as shang and xialing's mom. she was a polar opposite to wenwu — where wenwu was temperamental and volatile, she was a steady tour de force. i thought tony leung and fala chen — despite an almost 20 year age difference — had amazing chemistry and that forest wuxia scene marvel keeps putting in their promos? that's 100% sexier in the actual movie 🥵

i felt worst for xialing, who grew up with an aloof father, an absent mother and a brother who left her behind. so she charted her own path, created her own destiny, and i thought she probably had the most comparatively healthy coping mechanism in the family.

basically yeah, this movie was about the xu family and i would 100% kill anyone to protect them. there's one scene where they were playing dance dance revolution — all 4 of them — and everyone in my theatre clapped because that was an excellent throwback.

tony, fala, meng'er and simu were the standout stars for me — tony was, understandably, in a league of his own. he brought so much complexity and care into his role when any other actor would've probably taken a more straightforward approach to playing a supervillain. i wish michelle yeoh had more screen time tbh.

the movie did have some pacing issues and some of the scenes dragged on for a bit too long — but the cgi third act was epic. the fight choreographies from the late brad allan were epic. the soundtrack was epic.

everything about this film felt like it was more a big budget fantasy film than a typical formulaic marvel film. and they spoke a lot of mandarin in the film because this was a story about a chinese family living in some parts of east asia — this was a huge problem i had with crazy rich asians where no one, not a single person, spoke with a singlish accent even though the story was set in singapore lol.

Ooh good question!

Let me just preface this by saying:

This is RPF

Based on real people and real events, but largely fiction. This is my interpretation used for the purpose of fan fiction.

Please do not take this as fact, or use it to harass anyone.

Now. I love all headcanons and theories about how their relationship came to be and progressed, but in my mind, this makes the most sense:

They met when they started The First Avenger. Might’ve been peripherally aware of each other or been in the same room at a couple events, but they’d never formally been introduced.

During TFA production and press, they got to know each other and flirted a bit. Spent time in London... maybe got together to run through scenes... bonded over TFA being both of their first “big movie.”

Maybe they messed around a bit, but tbh I think it was mostly just “don’t want to blow this chance but you’re really hot oh god” flirting and dancing around each other

Fast forward to TWS, circa early 2013. I think this is when they actually got together, although it was a mutual stress relief/FWB situation. They knew each other from TFA, they were friends, and they fell back into their earlier flirting (but now they were more secure in their fame, with less anxiety surrounding the whole thing). They both had... feelings... but both thought the other didn’t share those feelings, so they kept quiet.

Note: a smaller headcanon is that all the *ahem* fight choreography was the thing that pushed them over the line from flirting to fucking

Also, a quick aside... the quote "I wish you guys could know Sebastian, he's the sweetest human being on the planet. He's such a good guy and he's so positive,” was said by Chris during TWS press. And here’s a few pictures from TWS premiere + press:

They finished up TWS with every intention of keeping in touch, but—as these things often go—life got in the way. After press later that year and post production early 2014 (and the release in March), they both got busy. They texted and called some, but there just wasn’t many opportunities to actually see each other for the next year.

Now. The majestic time that was Captain America: Civil War. I am of the opinion (and I know a lot of people who share this one) that something changed in their relationship. Whatever it was, they spent the 2016 Civil War press tour in some sort of honeymoon phase. All blatantly checking each other out, seemingly unable to stop touching each other, Mackie being all knows-y... Y’all know what I’m talking about, but here’s some pictures to remind you.

My personal headcanon (and a story that might be in the process of being written) is that they saw each other again in 2015 and started the choreo for fights again and,, fell back into their old habits. (For reference, filming ranged from May-August 2015, with training and choreo happening earlier that year.)

Seb had filmed The Bronze a few months earlier, then got seriously beefed up for CW (while probably keeping up flexibility training for stunts) so... y’know... there was a portion of time—specifically, the time during choreo and the beginning of filming—when Seb had increased flexibility and was jacked af, and,, uh,, let’s just say I’ve imagined the many effects that had on Chris.

Back to the big picture

My headcanon is that during filming, their relationship deepened. Exploring certain dynamics, pillow talk that verges into areas of “I’ve never been this open with anyone before holy shit”.

The aforementioned press tour in Asia happened in April 2016, and some time in those eight months, there was a big ol’ love confession. Because I simply do not believe they weren’t in a relationship during that honeymoon caught on film.

Since then (2016-2020) I like to believe they’ve been in a loving, committed relationship with weekend trips between Boston and New York and time in LA when they’ve got business in Hollywood.

Little note: Seb isn’t rumored to have dated anyone (before Alejandra) since 2016. Chris reportedly dated Jenny Slate briefly in 2016 and again from the end of 2017 to Spring 2018, but no one since (as far as I’m aware). Since you’re asking about my personal headcanons, I’ll just say I choose to believe Jenny was a beard situation to divert attention from a new relationship between Chris and Seb 🤷‍♂️. Of course, you’re free to believe differently and I’m in no way saying this is true.

Everyone that I've seen or heard work with him puts it as a really positive experience, and he helps make great stuff! pvrisofficial: He is the BEST. He was very similar to Blake in the sense that he was incredibly nurturing and encouraging, dedicated to making sure it was 100% everything I wanted and always stood up for me if the label ever tried to change it. His production style is definitely different but its extremely diverse. It's a lot punchier and crisper and a bit more minimal than in the past but i think it almost makes things more impactful that way!

A big thing was anxiety which caused me to choke up a lot and tense my chords. Then when i was being coached, out of fear of damaging something we had to rebuild and start small and light which we think caused the chords/muscles to atrophy, which set it back further haha. I eventually went to another coach who then was able to take my "retrained" voice and then strengthen it up and rebuild it back to where it was before!

Rapport (AGAIN!!!!!!! 3rd and FINAL time ever since it changes management on the 10th of August *cries*) 8/8/19

So I went back to Rapport today. Unfortunately they were out of Blue Hawaii which is my go to so I got Earl Grey which was terrible but that’s ok. 

Anyway, before I got to Rapport I went to eat at Pizza Express (my GO TO Gangnam pizza shop because it has such a nice vibe and reminds me of California). Then me and my friend went to a bookstore that also has a BUNCH of secondhand kpop albums as well as brand new ones but slightly less. The secondhand albums usually are missing stuff like photocards and other content. I knew this but I was going to Rapport so I assumed Changjo would be there. So I bought TWO Teen Top things (a 2013 Asia Tour DVD and the High Five album) so that I could get a signature if Changjo or Niel was there. I also brought a marker that was light blue (more on that later).

So fastforward back to Rapport. I had drank my gross tea and my friend had drank his Americano (which I assume was also gross because I hate coffee but that’s neither here nor there. He probably enjoyed it). So I used the bathroom on the second floor where Changjo had left to for a moment. When I came back down he was downstairs and people were talking to him so I patiently waiting (well not really patient tbh lol I was sitting at my table quietly wishing they would hurry up and leave the counter so I could go). So then as SOON as they left I went up. He was walking away so I called out “Changjo ssi” twice and he only heard me the second time. He turned around and I was like “Sign please?” and he was like “yeah” (he didn’t say yeah but he said something short and to the point that was to the effect of “yeah” lol). I gave him my shitty blue marker and he tried his best to make it work but the picture was blueish and the marker was really light so it was hard to see. He asked what my name was and how to spell it so I spelled it out for him. Finally, he just grabbed a Black marker that he had behind the counter and signed it that way!

So my FINAL time at Rapport I FINALLY got a physical memory of meeting him there other than the pictures of my drinks lol. Super cool and a GREAT way to end my last night of my first trip to Korea. I can’t WAIT to come back for Spring Break. Shit is gonna be LIT! Now, to Sabotage club with my friend!

Firstly can I say I am bitter and sad that I didn’t get the VIXX fan at the merch stand because it was SOLD OUT. It was so pretty! And affordable! I just wanted to pretend I was in the Shangri-La MV sob. That was by far the saddest part of the evening. @proteinscollide can testify I got all sulky about it.

But on going in every attendee got this card, awwww!! (That’s all I got, in the cheapest seats. The higher tiers had stuff like autographed posters, access to a hi-touch, etc.)

Vixx started with a bang - Fantasy, complete with an explosion of streamers, followed by Desperate. The audio wasn’t great, and I think in the Big Top it’s just never gonna be that good for pop music, but they have such a nice energy and their choreo is so gooooood. The background visuals were slick throughout the night and everything just worked.

Love Me Do was so good and N’s dance break was SO GOOD, and oh my gosh I’ll never be over Chained Up. I do wish the lights had been less intense and flashy. Vixx are good enough that they didn’t really need the streamers or strobe lighting or the smoke machine - all that stuff was just distraction, tbh.

They then took a break to do some ments and chat about what each of the members had been doing, since it had been a while since they promoted as a group. They all sat down on chairs with the translator off-stage (like a disembodied voice!) and it was one of the most casual, relaxed ments I’ve ever seen.

Leo talked about being in the musical The Last Kiss, and Ken about being in Titanic, and each sung a bit of a song. We were also shown a photo of Ken winking, informed “Ken is winking”, and then witnessed a REAL LIVE WINK. Oh my god Ken why are you like this. (A recurring them thru the evening tbh.)

N had also been in a musical, though in Japan - they showed a photograph of him with one of his co-stars, who coincidentally had also been in Leo and Ken’s musicals! A small musical world, clearly. N then sang a little, after initially pretending to forget the words, then sang so much that Ken trolled him and yelled STOP again oh my god Ken.

Hongbin had been in a drama and showed us various cute photos including him in a ridic apron. Hyuk filmed a drama and a movie, I think? And Ravi had done solo rap stuff - which included a tour date in Sydney earlier in the year - and hosting TV show Style Follow.

Leo and Ravi teased us by singing a little bit of Vixx-LR’s Whisper; and Ravi was adorably flustered when he initially kept forgetting the words.

They then sang a couple of slower songs, still in their seats, before disappearing off stage for costume changes.

A fascinating VCR played showing each member doing something very spooky and supernatural. Each of them was a callback to an MV, apparently, though tbh I didn’t make that connection straight away. Hongbin was in a room of mirrors, seeing a darker version of himself in the reflections; Ken was first blindfolded and then all glowy-eyed; I think Ravi was Chained Up? Leo had a voodoo doll? Hyuk was uh something? N had flowers… Sorry, my memory fails me.

ANYWAY then they came back in satiny red shirts for SHANGRI-LA, THE GREATEST CHOREO OF ALL TIME, FIGHT ME. I just love Shangri-La so much. The song, the fan dance, the everythingggggg.  Then they killed us all by following up with Black Out aka LEGSSSSS. Just leave me here forever ok.

They had another ment with various questions on post-it notes, which they took MUCH too much time selecting tbh, but in the end the results were cute:

Ken yelled “let’s get it!” like an enormous dork then spent like five minutes selecting a post-it. In the end he chose such a boring one - “what did you do during your flight” (by the way, all of them doing dubious scrunchy faces or making ‘uhhhhhhh’ sounds before they read out the English notes was super adorable) and he answered it so cheesily oh my god: “Thinking about Starlights!” he said, before another member said, “Okay but what did you REALLY do?” L O L. So yeah they all like, slept and ate and watched movies or read. Cool.

N was asked about sight seeing in Sydney - he said he and Ravi went to Bondi Beach and took photos, and walked across - “what was it called?” “The Harbour Bridge,” Ravi said helpfully.

Ravi took FOREVER AND A DAY to select a question, and in the meantime Ken was like a hyperactive child. In fact he was like that through the whole ment - constantly fidgeting, or dancing the cha cha, or trying to grab N’s hands, goodness.

Ok Ravi was asked about what he’d do after the concert - he said eat and sleep in the hotel. N called him boring and hit him, before helpfully adding that Ravi liked fish and chips. (Someone in the audience yelled out “678 Eastwood” which is the Korean restaurant EVERY SINGLE KPOP GROUP EVER dines at when they’re in Sydney. I have no doubt that’s exactly where they went. *checks facebook* Oh my god, the restaurant even pre-announced it, good lord.)

Leo was asked if he had visited the Opera House. He said he had gone yesterday on his own and walked around for two hours. He says while he has there (presumably at Opera Bar or nearby) he saw a girl lying on her boyfriend’s lap, and then a group of tipsy girls. One of the tipsy girls took his hat and his phone, and then took a video of herself - then one of the tipsy girls lay down in the boy’s lap and they took a video of that, and used Leo’s phone to send it to herself! He was stunned! (I AM ALSO STUNNED, OMG THE AUDACITY.)

Ravi then piped up with a story from the fish and chip restaurant. So someone asked him if he could please take a photo of them. He thought they meant a photo WITH him - but what they actually meant was a photo of THEM! So he took three photos for them L O L omg poor darling.

Hyuk finally took advantage of the true power of the post-its, i.e. to boss around one of his elders THAT TROLL, and picked one that asked Hongbin to do aegyo. Hongbin VERY RELUCTANTLY posed twice and then was embarrassed, lol.

Hongbin had a similar idea and picked one asking Leo to hop like a kangaroo. Without any encouragement whatsoever, N and Ravi began boxing like kangaroos, while Ken did his own hopping. Leo did eventually hop around and chased Hongbin across the stage for his trouble. But then Ken hopped around AGAIN and I think, oh my god, calling himself a “Kengaroo” oh my god.

Ment over! They sang a couple more slow songs, and then a few more fast ones including my beloved Error (my first Vixx song!), then came back for an encore during which Ken jumped so hard he split his pants and had to finish the stage with a towel wrapped around his waist OH MY GOD KEN WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS.

So yeah I had a really good time! Honestly I’m not even sure they were all at max power - there were moments when I thought they were taking it a bit easy, or weren’t super in sync - but it was such a good, fun, entertaining show!

It’s a pity that the show didn’t sell out. The silver standing section looked especially under populated, and the bronze seats were cordoned off about two-thirds of the way up. 

I think Vixx are a bit of a victim of timing - the last show in a year full of many and very expensive shows, and for an audience that is for the most part younger (i.e. less income) and many of them probably studying at this time of year. Like, I’m a grown adult with a decent full time job, and even I find it pretty painful having to pay these super high prices.

I think the promotors have got to get a bit smarter. Space out the tours more, or drop the prices. High school and uni age ppl can’t be dropping like $150+ per show every two months or so. It’s just not feasible. And it’s not reasonable, in my opinion, for a show like this at the Big Top with minimal staging - bands come from Europe or the Americas, and charge far less than this.

Oh, one final observation - rather surprisingly we were told before the show that photography and videos were not permitted, and rather more surprisingly this was enforced. They weren’t draconian about it (I obviously got a few photos in) but there was a guard telling people to stop recording. Quite unusual! Pretty sure the last time this happened to me I was at some prestige indie show at the Opera House or similar… I’m surprised because it’s not as though they had any new material or secret stuff to showcase, and, like, it’s all free advertising really? And I really don’t get the idea that it’s a purer experience if you don’t use your phone during the show - I mean, it has a time and a place, yes, but a pop show is DEFINITELY the time AND the place!

10/08/19: LANY — Malibu Nights World Tour

        This is something I will never not write about. I can still remember the day when LANY announced that they’re going to have another tour here in Singapore. Without thinking twice, I already knew that I just got to be there to witness them live. I was excited and ecstatic! I was up all night during the pre-sale of the tickets because, there was no way I would miss them again.

        Little introduction: Back in 2017, I saw one of my friend’s instagram stories about attending LANY’s concert here in Singapore and she was singing along to “The Breakup.” I don’t know but, I suddenly had this urge to listen to their album, to explore new artists and new genre. I fell in love with ILYSB, pink skies, current location, super far (!!!!), 4ever! and 13. That’s when I told myself that I will never miss them again the next time they come back here.

        When they released their Malibu Nights album last year, I listened to it non-stop. I love how raw and emotional their songs are. Eventhough I am no longer in that broken-hearted phase (thankfully!), their songs still made me feel understood because, they are so on-point! And you know, sometimes, it’s just nice to feel things and hear someone speak the words that your heart wasn’t able to muster when you were experiencing the same thing. I know I’ve said this before but, I’m going to reiterate this again: I instantly fall in love with artists who write their own songs. Periodt.

        So, last Saturday, I attended their Malibu Nights World Tour at Zepp, Big Box. We got there around 5pm and there were already A LOT of fans on queue. I haven’t eaten anything that day (yep. i am capable of sleeping the whole day, what about it? lol) but, I shrugged that fact off because, I was just excited and I don’t wanna leave the line! I had this whole thing on my countdown app and I can’t believe it’s happening now. When the show started and they all got up on stage, I cannot explain how I felt in that moment! It felt so surreal to finally see them; and even if Paul wasn’t feeling well, he was soooo amazing! They can cancel the show anytime so he could just rest but, they didn’t. I love his voice and the way he danced around on the stage. I love his stage presence. I love how during “pink skies” he changed the lyrics to “you are my favorite everything, been telling you that since 2015 2019.” I totally lost my shit so, I literally screamed “Shut up! I love you! You’re my bestfriend!!!” back at them. Okay, basically, I love every single thing about that night!! It was everything and more!!

        I was standing somewhere near the middle of the crowd and honestly, I wish I was in the front row because, I was totally wilding in my spot. lol. I was screaming the lyrics back to them! I tried screaming so loud, I thought I was gonna catch a laryngitis. Paul said that we were the best crowd they had in Asia and it truly warms my heart to know that. There’s nothing quite like singing the songs that became the soundtrack of your life once-upon-a-time with the artist who created them.

        Before LANY, I’ve only attended Taylor’s concerts (Speak Now World Tour and Red Tour) and that was back in 2011 and 2014 respectively. I honestly missed the feeling of  getting lost in the music, just jumping and dancing and screaming your heart and soul into it. It’s one of my favorite feelings in the world.

        When they started playing Malibu Nights, I started feeling more emotional because I know that we’re coming to an end.. and time passes by swiftly when you’re having so much fun. I was ugly crying when the confetti starting falling down during “ILYSB.” I wish that moment would never ever end because, I just had the most incredible and unforgettable night with them.. and I am forever grateful that I got the opportunity to see them on tour. They truly deserve all the support, the love and appreciation! They are one of the most hardworking and talented bands I know, and I can’t wait to hear their future works. Paul wasn’t lying when he said that he’s in the BEST band of the world.

         Also, in every concert, my mindset has always been about living in the moment. I only take photos and videos of my favorite part of the songs because, I really don’t want to get caught up in recording everything in my phone. I want to be able to remember everything and how it felt like to have them within few feet away from me — because, honestly, it’s not everyday that I get to have this kind of moment in my life. I don’t always get the chance to see them. You know, there are always going to be people who will upload the videos and their photos online but, no one could ever replicate how you felt and what you’ve witnessed in that very moment. But here are some photos I took from last night.  :)

        Something to remember forever: ♡

        To be honest, I already miss them.. and I love them so much!! This is definitely on the list of my favorite moments of my life and it’s undeniably one of the highlights of my 2019!! And I’m already looking forward to seeing them on their next tour. Hopefully, they’ll come back to Singapore again. :’)
