Guess who finally got their documents working again! Anyway, WIPs and Last Lines for The UnTitledverse and The Silver Chronicles. Specifically; a WIP for Jurassic World: Before The Storm and The True Sinners, and a Last Line for two Classroom Of The Elite fics and Silva's Hope and No Snake, Only A Boa In The Garden. Kind of a lot, but I've missed this so much. You can find these below the cut:

Here's a WIP for Chapter 2 of Jurassic World: Before The Storm:

Regret.

That is what overcame me when I followed Lisa off the ramp of the ferry.

Once I stood on sturdier ground, the unforgiving heat swept over me quickly.

Lisa had told me to put some summer clothes on; the sleeveless shirt and accompanying short skirt that she had paid for had been her initial suggestion. But I didn’t want to wear those. I didn’t want strangers to see how scrawny and soft I was. And the loose long-sleeve shirt, long baggy pants and my jumper were just too cozy, even if they were more for the colder months.

The uncomfortable temperature had me reconsider if this was a small lapse in judgement.

But no one was paying me much mind, so maybe the clothes helped. If that’s right, then maybe a little heat wouldn’t be so bad.

“Jackie,” Lisa gritted my nickname past her teeth, impatient towards my slow pace. I hadn’t realized that my baggage would be so heavy. I obliged her by picking up the pace.

Though I sped up in pace, Lisa was swifter, and the increasing amount of people clustering together made it more difficult to stay behind her lead.

Luckily the crowd started to dissipate.

I rushed to be by Lisa’s side, lugging my baggage with as much force as I could. The sun lifted an unwanted blanket of hot air over us, and I could not find it in my heart to appreciate the climate. In response to this uncomfortable pressure, I unzipped my jumper. I took a glance at Lisa and found her attention elsewhere.

Here's The True Sinners WIP, where Silva's planning murder while making coffee... but who can blame someone whose recently been kidnapped by the resident ginger soldier:

Jacob dragged Silva through the halls of the old veteran's center, his right hand gripped onto the hem of her dirty coat.

They reached what she assumed to be his office. Jacob opened the door and unceremoniously threw her forward inside. She caught herself from falling, twisting around to face her captor.

He shut the door behind him, the handle's lock clicked in a twist. Jacob crossed his arms as he regarded her, face thinned into a stoic mask.

Blue eyes raked over her disheveled body, specifically how she positioned herself; legs spread apart and slight bent, her left arm spread forward in preparation while her right arm remained closest to her hip, and her dull grey eyes glaring at him. Focused.

He sharply exhaled through his nose, almost like a whistling snort. He leaned against the wall next to the door, eyes on her. Silva didn't drop her guard, not even when he gestured over to a small table.

"Coffee," Jacob tells her. Silva remained in her stance, though confusion did etch across her face.

Jacob gestured once more to the small table. Silva hesitated, eyed Jacob's stature. She took a brief glance over to the table, not enough to lose Jacob in her peripheral though, and opted not to change her stance either, just in case.

She spotted a kettle and some paper cups, and what she assumed to be a jar of grounded coffee beans.

She swiftly placed her eyes back onto him, uncertainty and anticipation brewing within her. Jacob must have noticed, as he stated, "Get yourself a cup of coffee. And if you get one for me, I might be open to explaining your purpose here."

Her eyes narrowed, but refrained from speaking. Silva wasn't sure what his game was. She focused past him to the office door.

She silently exhaled, taking small steps toward the table, grey eyes always on Jacob in case he made any sudden moves.

Once she planted a gloved hand on the small tabletop, she gave one more glare towards him before reluctantly turning her back to him.

With an ear out for any inconspicuous movements Jacob could make, Silva quickly pressed a knuckle against the kettle. Finding it lukewarm, she flicked down the switch.

She dared another glance at Jacob while the kettle heated up, only to stiffen when their stares connected. A palish blue invading her dull grey. A contrast to the sharp grey of Father and the pale hazel of Paul.

He was a militar man. The green forest jacket with the Americana flag was enough to tip her off when they first met, but the ambush... the training grounds of the veteran center had all confirmed her suspicion.

She had been unprepared when she fought back during the raid, only managing to catch him off guard with an admittedly surprised hit, but nothing that could have incapacitated him with his support running at her.

But now they were alone... and once she heard the rising whistle, she twisted her fingers around the handle of her new weapon.

Here's four Last Lines, two each for The UnTitledverse and The Silver Chronicles.

The first Last Line is for a Classroom Of The Elite chapter in The UnTitled Stories (a collection of short fics). Ayanokoji and Horikita have lunch together:

"So," I had paused to swallow down the crumbed fish before I asked you, "The first step is to rehabilitate the failures?"

It hadn't been an unsound plan. In fact it was quite logical, which made sense, in hindsight.

"If you've grasped that, you can guess what I'm about to propose," you had told me, and you were correct. The implication was as easy to notice like a car speeding down a crossing.

My initial response was to decline. The word 'no' was on the tip of my mouth, but I refrained. I took a glance at you, and reconsidered my reply.

Knowing you thus far, you would never have allowed me to get as close as you'd already let me back then if I had rejected your proposal. You had made sound points and made your intentions clear. While I had no ambition to reach Class A, as it had not been my goal, you were a curious oddity that I wanted to learn more about. And helping you meant getting one step closer to the answer I sought.

So, I made the only acceptable answer.

"Okay, I'll help."

"I thought you'd say-," you had paused mid-sentence, my words being swiftly picked apart in your mind as you realized what I had said, "Wait, seriously?"

"Dead serious," I parroted your words back. I'd imagine the look of momentary shock should have been amusing, though I couldn't find much humor in the displace as my chopsticks picked up the rest of my crumbed fish.

The second Last Line/s is for a "What If?" Classroom Of The Elite scenario where Amasawa and Yagami went with Ayanokoji to the school. Anyway, have Class D's reaction to the trio:

As Ayanokoji began to depart from his desk, he paused. Horikita heard him let out a sigh, and much to her confusion, dropped his bag on top of his desk.

"What are you-?" Horikita wanted to question, but Ayanokoji soon interrupted her.

"Accepting my fate," he disclosed, not with much emotion, but certainly not his regular monotone.

Horikita blinked at him, shaking her head in confusion, "Huh?"

Ayanokoji only pointed toward Class 1-D's door in response. She turned her gaze toward it, the sliding door left ajar by the few students who left for break. She wasn't sure why...

She stopped her thoughts when she heard it; the rushing steps of someone fast approaching. It wasn't until a familiar magenta-haired fiend slid in front of the door way, cast her gradient dark-red eyes onto her target and propelled herself inside the classroom at such unnatural speed.

"Senpai~!" the twin-tailed girl cheered out as she threw herself at Ayanokoji, who (reluctantly) welcomed her with deflated open arms. The girl tackled Ayanokoji, the force causing both of them to crash to the floor. The ruckus caught the remainder of Class D's attention.

Before Horikita could process what she just witnessed, she heard another rush of footsteps towards the doorway, but this one slowed down to reveal the second of Ayanokoji's companions; a boy with brown hair and green eyes, softly panting and non-discreetly leaning against the frame to recover from the chase.

The third Last Line/s is for Silva's Hope, and Silva gets a short break and a new friend:

"Hey, Dep, so... you hungry?" Boshaw asked, fidgeting with the beer bottle in his hand. Silva glanced at him, raising a brow, "I was gonna heat up the leftover pizza I had in my fridge, and since you're crashing the place, I'm just wondering if you want some."

He seemed anxious, giving her a forced smile as he awaited her answer. At the mention of food, the rumbling pain in her gut demanded she attend to its needs. Silva blew out a relenting exhale.

"Honestly Boshaw... I'd love some pizza," she told him, and she saw how his brown eyes lightened up; like how Elsa was given permission to do a dangerous stunt or Hurk given the go-ahead to blow a Peggie chopper out of the sky. Or given the thumbs up to set something ablaze.

With that reminder, she quickly added, "As long as it's not reheated with your flamethrower. Understood Boshaw?"

Boshaw blew out a playful huff as he stood up on the trailer's roof, "Nah, I learnt my lesson last time I did that. Gets too charred. Don't worry, I've got a microwave laying about inside. And ya can call me Sharky, Dep."

Silva chewed the inside of her cheek, but after some thinking, couldn't see the harm of calling him by his preferred name, "Alright Sharky... as long as you call me Silva. I'm doing a lot more than what's in a deputy's paycheck. Deal?"

She opened out a gloved hand for him to shake on, and it lightened her mood to see the wide cheerful grin as he took her hand, and managed to pull her up onto her two feet, "You've got a deal there, Silva."

The final Last Line/s is for No Snake, Only A Boa In The Garden, and have a crumb of Hudson and Pratt content... as they chat waiting for a passed-out Coroner!Silva to wake up:

Watching how quietly [Silva] slept on as Pratt had loudly chugged down his coffee, Joey couldn't disagree with Pratt's comment, regardless of how ill-mannered the jest was.

She's almost like a corpse, she conceded, frowning at the soft breathes she could barely see part their coroner's lips, the egg-shaped timer ticking beside the dark-haired woman's head, within arm-length.

"Hudson, you need to relax. She's a grown woman, remember? She's made the decision to deal with her personal issues herself," Pratt yapped on, and shared a thought, "Not the best way to deal with any issue, true, but it really isn't up to us to interfere if it hasn't affected her job thus far. Besides, you've got to admit she's a bit fun when she's tipsy. Night-outs are never short of entertaining when she's around. Cheeky and funny, too."

Joey gave Pratt a deadpan look, and sighed, "I don't know Pratt. You ever wonder why she drinks though? It worries me. We're pretty much the only ones here she goes out of her way to talk to, with exception to Earl. And she's just cooped up in here, surrounded by... death."

She gestured around the morgue, to the units housing whatever bodies were brought in this week. Once again, she settled her gaze on the deep bags under Silva's eyes, a combined result of the coroner's known insomnia and the amount of effort in she puts to stretch herself thin in overworking herself. Joey huffed, a somberness in her voice, "It's so... isolating. She never shares anything outside her personal life either, and we're the closest people to friends that she's got. It's not normal."

The Perfect Storm saga

Joaquin Cobalt (faceclaim: Isiaiah Stannard) - Arguably the protagonist of The UnTitledverse, Joaquin was lost in the Multiverse for a few years along with his foster sister, Lisa Cobalt. We follow through most of his perspective as he grows up and finds his identity throughout the four sagas of The UnTitledverse. Features in: The Perfect Storm, The Omniscient Rule, The UnTitled Ventures and The Ender sagas.

Lisa Cobalt (faceclaim: Beanie Feldstein) - Joaquin's legal guardian and older (foster) sister, she took care of her younger brother during their time at a foster home before they were both returned to her former orphanage. Once she came of age, she legalized herself as his guardian, and though she knew she wasn't perfect, she vowed to take care of him, no matter what it took. Features in: The Perfect Storm saga and The Omniscient Rule: Dark Omen in The Omniscient Rule saga.

Edward Carmine (faceclaim: Benedict Cumberbatch) - The main antagonist of The Perfect Storm saga, Edward is an industrialist in architecture and robotics, a man whose fear of death drives him to commit various crimes and burn many bridges to achieve his goals. His arrogance reaches new heights when he discovers his role in the grand scheme of the maintenance of the multiverse. Features in: The Perfect Storm saga, Jagged Instincts Novelisation and an Untitled WIP in Life, Despair & Monsters.

Indo - An Indominus Rex/Scorpius Rex hybrid, Indo is the result of a failed partnership between Carmine Industries and InGen. He escapes his captivity and kicks off the conspiracy plot of Jurassic World: Before The Storm. Features in: Jurassic World: Before The Storm, Adapt To Survive, Jurassic World: Into The Eye Of The Storm, The Aftermath Equation and Jurassic World: The Perfect Storm in The Perfect Storm saga and the Jagged Instincts Novelisation.

Greenpeace (faceclaim: Sean McLoughlin) - A minor antagonist to both Lisa Cobalt and Edward Carmine, Greenpeace was contracted by Edward to infiltrate Jurassic World's security and keep evidence of his presence from the staff, however that's asking much from a jerk whose intoxicated off his ass half the time. He becomes a loose end that Edward seeks to silence. Features in: Jurassic World: Before The Storm, Jurassic World: Into The Eye Of The Storm and The Aftermath Equation in The Perfect Storm saga.

Calvin Dearing (faceclaim: Laurence Fishburne) - A major protagonist in The Perfect Storm saga, Calvin was once a cartoonist in the early 20th century, however had died due to unknown circumstances within Carmine Studios, where he remained trapped in purgatory for around 85 years (more-or-less). Features in: The Perfect Storm saga, A Lovely Murder Musical, The Omniscient Rule: Dark Omen and Red Dead Redemption: Pandora's Box in The Omniscient Rule saga, Chapter Three: The Feuding Houses and Chapter Six: The Ender in The Ender saga.

Terrence Carmine - Calvin Dearing's old boss and the owner of Carmine Studios before it shut down. He is also one of Edward Carmine's great-something grandfathers. Features in: A Blast In The Past and The Dark Awakening in The Perfect Storm saga.

Marion - A cartoon cat turned into a deformed monster to terrorize Calvin. Has a few similarities to Mario Emmet, despite Calvin having never met the alien at that point... Features in A Blast In The Past and The Dark Awakening in The Perfect Storm saga.

Emmaline - A cartoon parrot capable of using multiple voices, seeks her original voice, and is visibly decaying. Striking resemblance to Emma Carmine, Edward Carmine's daughter and Terrence's great-great-great granddaughter, who hadn't been born yet. Features in A Blast In The Past and The Dark Awakening in The Perfect Storm saga.

The Reel - An Eel-like cartoon character that hunts down anything in the ink. Features in A Blast In The Past and The Dark Awakening in The Perfect Storm saga.

Emily Marguerite - An actress and former co-worker of Calvin who becomes a twisted and deformed mirror of herself in Calvin's purgatory. Though he can't quite recollect how he knows her. Features in: A Blast In The Past and The Dark Awakening in The Perfect Storm saga.

Seeker - A clumsy yet good-natured droid officer of the Time Bureau Authority, one of the major protagonists in The Time Guard. Features in: A Blast In The Past, Jurassic World: The Perfect Storm, SCP: Confining Spaces, Detroit: Battleground, Down Memory Lane, What If? and We Stand Together in The Perfect Storm saga, Jagged Instincts Novelisation and The Time Guard.

Eleanor - A Knightess of the Light, Eleanor serves the sixth-born Eldritch, Agnes the Beacon of Benevolence, and becomes a reoccurring character in The UnTitledverse. Cameron Calico - A man in charge of hunting down the alien anomaly that had been tracked to Texas under any means necessary so the U.S Government can fuck around and find out with it, much to his disdain. Jester - An Eighth-Generation Kin dealmaker who scams people more than he can breathe, a major antagonist in The Perfect Storm saga. Features in: The Perfect Storm saga and Jagged Instincts Novelisation.

R.E.A.P.E.R - A mechanical copy of the Indo-Rex based off of Indo's physique, with the addition of other benefits credited by Carmine Industries. Features in: Jurassic World: The Perfect Storm in The Perfect Storm saga.

The Chairman - The Carver Of Fate and a prominent threat towards Joaquin and Lisa Cobalt (plus eventually Maisie Lockwood) during their time in the Multiverse, eventually becomes an ally. Features in: The Perfect Storm saga and The Time Guard.

Timekeeper - An advanced droid designed to watch over the Timelines and detect any irregularities and divergences that occur to alert Judge Khronos and the Time Bureau Authority. A major character in The Perfect Storm saga and the main protagonist of The Time Guard. Oculus - The primary fighter of Cloak's neutral party of Cybertronians, he has one optic, four arms, a short temper and an obsessive need to fight. Spectre - A triple-changing recon scout/assassin who is capable of phasing through material objects and uses an electrified double-sided scythe. He can transform into a Harvey-Davidson's Touring Motorcycle and a Kawasaki Jet Ski. Features in: Honour Thy Father and Kicking The Bucket Spills The Truth in The Perfect Storm saga.

E.M.I.L.Y - Heavily implied to be the real-world Emily Marguerite previously featured in Calvin's duology, she was a former business woman who previously worked for Carmine Industries, now she's a human consciousness trapped inside an underwater cave sea base, mining for fossils and experimenting on humans and robotics for Edward Carmine, in coordination with one Doctor Evermund Scowlzka. Features in: Honour Thy Father, Trust In Us, Kicking The Bucket Spills The Truth and What If? in The Perfect Storm saga, Jagged Instincts Novelisation and The Time Guard.

Doctor Evermund Scowlzka - Formerly a world-renown surgeon and neuroscientist, however once it was discovered he experimented on the less fortunate to gain his findings and was involved with both the Black Market and the Dark Web for organ trafficking, he was found guilty and declared a global criminal. He managed to hide behind many illicit operations before meeting an unfortunate mauling to a creature called Hatter, but was saved by Edward Carmine using robotics, and has worked under Edward's science division ever since, becoming a (somewhat) trusted confidant. He, along with Carley, join Lee Everett's group, and he has a close friendship with Clementine and Duck. He is an unfortunate victim to many, many tragedies to come. Evelyn Carmine - The wife of Edward Carmine who died from a "sickness". Left to rust in various locations belonging to Carmine Industries. Features in: Trust In Us and More Than Bargained For? in The Perfect Storm saga.

Flatline - A former Decepticon medic, now the leader of a neutral faction of Cybertronians, trying to find a solution in ending the Autobot/Decepticon conflict permanently and return to Cybertron to prepare rebuilding. Flatline has history with Shockwave, but also personal vendetta against Arcee (and her deceased partner Tailgate) due to her damaging his body so badly he had to reconstruct himself to survive. Features in: Trust In Us, Kicking The Bucket Spills The Truth and What If? in The Perfect Storm saga.

Shifter - Flatline's reconnaissance Minicon. Features in: Trust In Us, Kicking The Bucket Spills The Truth and What If? in The Perfect Storm saga.

Jeff Hopper - Jim Hopper's brother, Jeff followed his brother's footsteps into Vietnam and Hawkins PD, though this has earned him Jim's cold shoulder. However, their brotherhood is brought closer together when dealing with the Upside-Down and the mess between American Government Factions and the Soviet Russians in the Cold War. Jeff also finds kinship with a young pupil, Lillian "Lena" Elliot. The angstiest? Probably Watching the World Burn

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I think most of my fics have overall happy endings, but the two that are borderline saccharine are That's Life and Golden Repair. I basically ended them with a joyful, romcom soundtrack 🤮

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I have had some, unfortunately. It used to get to me a lot more, because, you know, we all do this for fun and for free. Now I just delete the comments and move on with my day 🤙

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Oh yeah. Ohhhhhh yeah. Typically romantic, sometimes angsty, occasionally plot-what-plot explicit. I let the story tell me what it needs, if you will.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Have not, but I still have a prompt in my Inbox for a GLOW/Sherlock crossover that I would like to get to at some point

Sort of - years ago I had someone leave a comment on a fic telling me I was doing a bad job with a good idea, and then they took my idea and wrote their own fic (totally fine) and blasted me in the notes (not at all fine), so... that was fun.

Not yet!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Ooh yes, @mizjoely and I have collaborated on Be Prepared and Furo and we had a blast with both. There is a (maybe?) abandoned fic with @miabicicletta that I would still love to finish if the world allows us... 🥺

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I like them all for different reasons, but I think Mulder and Scully will always be my OTP. And I haven't even written anything for them yet! I'm scared, they intimidate me 😬

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I would really really like to finish Shelter From the Storm at some point, even though the franchise is basically done! The idea I had for it was waaaaay different than what they ended up doing in the last movie, and much, much darker. Maybe someday.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Too many ideas in my head and the audacity to think that people want to hear about them 😁

I do a decent job with keeping things in character, and having a plan for where the story is going so I can actually set things up properly. I think I have a pretty good eye for detail as well.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

If I'm having a hard time getting from one plot point to another, I get lazy and things get stilted. I'll bullshit my way through boring bits to get to the bits I really want to write.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I try, guys. I really do. I do as much homework as I can with Google Translate, but I know it's not enough to get it right. I avoid other languages if I can.

Oh geez, that's tough - I honestly think it's a tie between Paragon and That's Life. I had the most fun writing both of those.

John Hammond's passing had left a heavy cloud of grief hanging over the sprawling estate that housed the secrets of Jurassic Park. His tiny three-inch tall friend, Paige, stood in the shadow of his departure, devastated by the loss of the man who had protected her from the looming specter of Dr. Stevens and his relentless pursuit of scientific discovery.

As Paige mourned, a familiar figure entered the room, casting a tall shadow that momentarily startled her. Relief washed over her as she recognized Ian Malcolm, the chaos theorist. They had crossed paths before, albeit briefly, but in this dire moment, his presence was a welcoming sight.

"Hi Dr. Malcolm," Paige greeted with a slight tremor in her voice.

Ian nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. “Hi Paige.” Together, they talked about the uncertain future that now loomed before her. Paige's eyes welled with tears as she admitted, "I don't know what to do. With John gone, there's nothing keeping Dr. Stevens and his crew from wanting to experiment on me and study my genetic mutation again."

The fear was palpable in her voice, and Ian could see her trembling at the mere thought of returning to the cold, sterile laboratory. They discussed potential plans, but soon the conversation shifted to something that could offer some temporary solace – dinosaurs.

Ian shared tales of his encounters with these prehistoric giants, describing the awe and terror that came with them. Paige listened intently, her fear momentarily pushed aside by the captivating stories of a world she could never experience firsthand.

However, their conversation was abruptly interrupted when the door to the room burst open, and a group of scientists, led by Dr. Stevens himself, stormed in, determined to find Paige.

Without hesitation, she darted away, using her miniature size to her advantage as she scurried towards a secret room hidden from all but a few. Ian, realizing the urgency of the situation, immediately went in pursuit of Paige.

He combed through the estate's nooks and crannies, searching for any sign of the tiny woman. Time was of the essence, and he had to find her before the scientists did. Hours passed, and desperation gnawed at him.

Paige's heart raced as she initially mistook Ian for one of the intruders. In a panic, she backpedaled farther into the corner, her tiny form trembling with fear. With her hands raised in defense, she begged, "Please, don't hurt me. I won't go back to the lab!"

Ian, recognizing the misunderstanding, quickly reassured her, "It's alright, Paige. It's me, Ian. I'm here to help, not to hurt you."

Relief flooded over Paige as she realized her mistake, and she emerged from her defensive posture.

Instinctively, Paige bolted towards Ian, who had knelt down to her level, his giant presence offering a sense of safety. She didn't know him well, but in this moment, his actions spoke volumes. He had made the effort to search for her, which showed her that he cared, whether or not he'd admit it.

Tears glistened in her tiny eyes as she asked, "You came looking for me?"

Ian nodded solemnly, his expression filled with compassion. "Yes, Paige. I couldn't let them find you. I promised John I’d look after you."

Paige couldn't contain her gratitude. She rushed closer to Ian, her miniature form trembling, and with all the strength she could muster, she wrapped her tiny arms around one of his massive fingers, hugging it tightly. To her, it was like clinging to a lifeline.

From Ian's perspective, he felt the gentle touch of Paige's embrace on his finger, a profound connection forged in a world where size made no difference to the depth of emotions. He marveled at her courage and resilience, despite her minuscule stature.

He offered her a reassuring smile, gently lowering his finger to let her down from the corner where she had hidden. "Don't worry, Paige," he said softly. "I've got you."

Paige, still trembling from the recent fright, gazed up at Ian with a mixture of fear and hope in her eyes. He knew that escaping the watchful eyes of Dr. Stevens and his team would not be easy. With a determined expression, he gently scooped Paige up, cradling her trembling body against his chest. She felt the warmth of his palm and his comforting touch, which was both reassuring and protective.

As she nestled into the safety of his palms, Paige whispered, "Thank you, Dr. Malcolm."

Ian smiled kindly at her and corrected, "You can call me Ian."

Jurassic World Before The Storm

Chapter 1: The Arrival

Author's Note: It's here everyone. It's finally here! Below the cut is the first chapter of my Jurassic World fic. My first story. My first story! I am just so... grateful. And glad! And joyful overall... I dearly hope you enjoy reading the story and the expansion of Jurassic World as a whole from the perspective of my characters and the canon characters too. Both human and dinosaur POV. I sincerely hope I did this justice. Have fun! Summary: The return to Isla Nublar and people watching.

He was near. He knew that.

So very near. Almost within his grasp.

He felt a little giddy, though he knew he shouldn’t. It wasn’t mature of him. Professional.

He had been searching for this machination for months, ever since he first heard of it. Following every bit of far-fetched leads that he could find so he could have it all for himself.

And making sure those loose ends were tied like rope into a knot…or a disfigured pulp for the case of my helpful companions, he thought with a jolly smile at the memories, Couldn’t have any competitors finding what was rightfully mine.

He never did believe in magic; science was the closest thing to ‘magic’ for him, as robotics was closest to giving life ever since the failure classified as Emma. But he was assured that this would have the “best of both worlds”.

He couldn’t just give up an opportunity like this. Especially with his age.

He couldn’t end. The bits of grey appearing in his hair were becoming more frequent.

He needed more time. He just needed to know more. To take more.

He abruptly frowned.

Though it’s rather unpleasant he had to chase his fascination to a ferry back to that blasted island.

Isla Nublar, the Clouded Island.

No doubt no one would even recognise him, he wasn’t as sloppy as he was in his younger years. He now hid in the shadows, preying away at what he wanted, when he saw fit to it, and not leaving a mess in the process.

And made sure, with sufficient bribing, that his employees erased his mistakes, never speaking a word of those failures ever again.

Shame he wasn’t there to oversee the process, but he supposed now, once he was on that hunk of wasted scientific potential, he would make sure nothing was left.

And lucky for him, he had two associates inside the staff, ensuring any traces of his presence would never be recorded.

How lucky he was to bump into that man and woman; he thanked his natural ability to talk to people. Especially when using the idea of love against the latter.

His face contorted into a grimace at that word.

Naïve souls, blindly and foolishly following such a lie.

He scoffed, and mockingly chuckled at the meaningless concept. He looked to the other passengers, the families, the couples, the friends.

Such fools, carrying such a weakness around, he shook his head, rolling his eyes at the displays of affection around him, I’m glad to be rid of those chains.

His amber orbs scanned around the passengers, searching for anyone out of the ordinary, someone that may be following him.

He didn’t find anyone worrisome, though his eyes did land on two particular passengers.

A young woman with an even younger child- a boy from what he could see. Both were seated next to each other, his observation gone unnoticed by the two.

The young woman had her arms crossed and firm, while the young boy looked to be enclosed to himself, nervously fidgeting with his hands.

He raised a brow when the young woman hissed quietly at the young boy, the latter stopping his fidgety actions.

He felt that familiar urge tug at his mind, the one that recommended he pay close attention.

He focused on observing the two more closely.

Both obviously knew each other. Was she the babysitter? Highly unlikely. Family members? That sounded more…plausible. Though they hardly shared any similarities. Foster siblings, perhaps?

Regardless of what their relationship was, the two had intrigued his interest.

The young woman seemed to be in her early twenties, barely an adult. She had long auburn hair, kempt and luxurious. He admired the tidiness. He liked to keep tidy himself, unlike most people he was unfortunately acquainted with.

Freckles scattered her cheeks and small nose. He studied her face, the pursed lips, her ambitious hazel eyes taking chances to glance at the young boy next to her, scrunched eyebrows and forehead, her sparkling eye lashes methodically waving when closed.

His amber orbs traced the smooth curve of her chubby cheeks, how unusually perfect the bone held her skin up. He took note of the professional attire she wore on her tall and plump form. He looked back to her face, the porcelain skin and the make-up she had applied making this remarkable specimen almost perfect.

Almost.

He frowned at the realisation. Here was a specimen that’s physique was near perfection, one that looked to be someone capable of business with as much ambition as himself. And while her physique was perfect, her flaw seemed to be internal.

Her tolerance was low, mood erratic with no calmness in the air surrounding her. That was clear. She did not have a grasp over her patience. And not to mention, she was intentionally bringing along baggage that she could do without.

Speaking of which.

He gradually turned his attention to the younger passenger besides her.

The boy - no older than at least ten - had short cut brown hair and cautious brown eyes. Even though his hair was combed, there were a few strands that sprouted up, barely keeping together. The boy’s clothes were casual yet respectful, possibly on the young woman’s behalf, though it’s much suited for winter rather than the tropical island. Oddly enough, he was a little scrawny, even for a boy as young as him.

He will grow into his looks, he concluded.

Though he could not see any other desirable benefit that the boy had.

The young woman had a fiery ambition in her eyes, like himself. That’s what made her useful.

A bitter disappointment, though he was used to such things in his life.

Oddly enough, how the boy held himself in his seat brings back memories of his own childhood.

Yes, he remembered how he held himself like that. Afraid of making the wrong movement, to mess up, to bring their ire attention towards him. Afraid to feel their wrath.

He clenched his hands into fists.

Don’t think about those underlings. Four decades they haven’t plagued your mind, don’t let them in now. Not while a solution is within reach…

“Attention all passengers!” The ferry’s intercoms announced, “We are arriving on the northwest dock of Isla Nublar! Thank you for your patience!”

He calmly exhaled his breath, relieving his clenched hands.

He glanced over to the two youths he was studying earlier, the young woman breathing out a ‘finally’ before prepping herself and the young boy to leave.

The boy got himself ready, grabbing his bag and standing up with the young woman.

He will have to keep an eye out for them. Just in case.

But as of now, he must make his way through “Jurassic World”.

Such waste.

Word Counts: How Long Should Your Book Be?

As I said in last week's post (Click Here to read said post.) In the traditional publishing world, the amount of words in any given novel ranges depending on several different factors. These, for want of a better word, limitations should be applied to self-published work as well.

There are three factors that go into the decision-making process. The first factor that goes into the decision-making process is the targeted age category, ie. Picture Books, Children’s, Chapter Books, Middle Grade, Young Adult, New Adult, and Adult. Obviously, the older the reader the longer their attention spans are the more book they can and are willing to read.

The next is Genre such as Fantasy, Science Fiction, Romance, Contemporary, Literary Fiction, Non-Fiction, etc. I don’t consider this a MAJOR contributor to word count because any one of these genres can produce a long book or a short one. That being said traditionally certain genres even for debuts are given some leniency when it comes to word count like Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Lastly your popularity as an Author the reason this is a major faction is because if you are a debut Author the publishing house doesn’t know how your sales will perform so they are wearier and don’t want to spend more money printing longer books.

Picture Books usually range from 50 – 2,500 words at most. That upper range is usually reserved for older children ages 5 – 9 years old.

Chapter Books traditionally do not exceed 12,000 words at most. Chapter books are usually marketed towards children as young as 9 – 12.

Middle Grade Now specific genres come into play, however, a good rule of thumb to play by with the middle grade is that word counts range from 20,000 for the younger 10-11 to 60,000 for the older children 12-13. For example, Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Richard Atwater is 18,188 words and is usually marketed towards children ages 8+ Whereas the other end of the spectrum we have:

As you see these books clearly exceed the 60,000-word “limit” but these books are not common from my research.

Young Adult As we are getting older we crave a bigger world and more story. In the YA category, you typically find books ranging from 55,000 – 90,000 though as fans of Harry Potter, The Hate You Give, Children Of Blood and Bone, Twilight, Hunger Games, and Divergent will know this is not always the case.

Adult Adult books have the highest word count because adults tend to have the longest attention span and are less donated by larger books. That being said I like many other readers read adult books at a teen so this distinction, in my opinion, is moot.

Most adult books start at 90,000 words on the low end and can go up to and exceed 500,000 words. However, like the rest of these categories, it can be lower as well.

Middle Grade Below 20,000: Too short 25,000 – 39,999: Generally Safe 40,000 – 59,999: Probably Alright 60,000 or above Might Be Too Long

If your book goes far below or above any of the word counts I mentioned you may have a harder time getting published but you never know until you try. Rule #1 of Writing, Know the writing rules. Rule #2 of Writing, Break all the rules.

You've probably seen this song before, but I wanted to expand on it. Jurassic World: Before The Storm is my first fic, and first installment of The UnTitledverse, and I chose NerdOut's "Life Finds A Way" because (1) it's a Jurassic World song and (2) it fits the themes of Jurassic World: Before The Storm. However, as I'm sure you've noticed, this song is clearly for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom instead of its predecessor, and to that I say; it is what it is. Anywho, analysis! NerdOut's "Life Finds A Way" is a lamentation of InGen's (and humanity I guess) hubris in both bringing back prehistoric beasts from a different time and deciding to combine said prehistoric beasts into hybrids. The major theme really is "Playing God Comes With Responsibilities You Can't Handle" and there are serious moments of that in Jurassic World: Before The Storm; the Indominus and Indo being the prime examples. Both are hybrids of various creatures (with Indo being a hybrid between an Indominus Rex and a Scorpius Rex cause why not, you know?), and both are deeply intelligent, with Indo balancing on the line between "cunning animal following instincts" and "sentient creature capable of emoting not too dissimilar to humans". Their births create a shift in the status quo to the point of unexpected consequences within themselves. Human hubris also causes destruction and a threat to the status quo of dominance which starts with Isla Nublar before spreading in the sequels. Anyway, song below:

A Blast In The Past is an Original WIP where Calvin Dearing goes back to his old boss studio for a reunion only to enter a factory of horrors, while narrated by a Narrator who hates his guts. There are five chapters, and each chapter is named after a song meant for Bendy And The Ink Machine, which is a major inspiration for this fic, and pretends to lean into the games introduction at the beginning only to completely throw off the facade and be it's own original self. Anyway, Chapter One is "Spotlight". Song below:

You really think I want to kill? The ink you see can't be distilled I can tell it's not your day Well, too bad! I'm here to stay Our surprise is your demise Close your lying eyes

I want to talk a little bit more about A Blast In The Past. Throughout his journey, Calvin is being narrated from the second-person POV, a deliberate choice. You won't get to hear his thoughts and feelings on the situation unless he outright says it aloud, but even then, how those words may be manipulated with a different meaning is entirely up to the Narrator of the story. Chapter 1 "Spotlight" is a parody of the Bendy And The Ink Machine introduction before flipping it on its head. Chapter Two "Recording Gold" is where things really do diverge into an original story. HAOYU ANABUKI (LIFE, DESPAIR & MONSTERS)

Haoyu Anabuki is the main protagonist of Life, Despair & Monsters, they are the result of a Human/Displacement (re: an interdimensional creature from another dimension that is unknown/unregistered in any catalogues) relationship, and Monika's half-sibling. While they are a social butterfly and definitely like companionship and their arc is to actually do teamwork, Haoyu starts off self-interested, not helping unless it benefits them or their small circle. Haoyu assumes anyone outside their circle is out for themselves and would abandon them if given the chance, since that's what Haoyu would do. This is proven both right and wrong but not in the way they expected.

TYCHE (AN OLD BALLAD OF CHANCE AND EMBER HEARTS TRILOGY)

Tyche, the God of Chance, aids the first human explorers of the Multiverse in stopping the Mad Kin of Carnage, Discord, from destroying the Wheel of Reincarnation. This definitely describes Tyche.

NATE GUST SARID/THE SOLE SURVIVOR (A RADIOACTIVE CALAMITY OF LOVE, BOMBS & GORE)

Nate Gust Sarid is the Sole Survivor of Vault 111 (well, at least he believes he is) and enters the Commonwealth a little over 200 years after the bombs dropped in 2077. Nate joins the Minutemen and seeks to bring about freedom and order in the wasteland, but finds it easier said than done. Nate believes he must prove himself and justify his existence with this newfound purpose after everything he's lost, but thankfully lets go of perfecting the Commonwealth thanks to Marissa "Ress" Bishop and her companions. I do not agree that Nate wouldn't listen to philosophical characters, unless they're batshit insane, then he's justified in not listening to their bullshit.

Isla Nublar, the Clouded Island.

No doubt no one would even recognise him, he wasn’t as sloppy as he was in his younger years. He now hid in the shadows, preying away at what he wanted, when he saw fit to it, and not leaving a mess in the process.

And made sure, with sufficient bribing, that his employees erased his mistakes, never speaking a word of those failures ever again.

Shame he wasn’t there to oversee the process, but he supposed now, once he was at that hunk of wasted scientific potential, he would make sure nothing was left.

And lucky for him, he had two associates inside the staff, ensuring any traces of his presence would never be recorded.

How lucky he was to bump into that man and woman; he thanked his natural ability to talk to people. Especially when using the idea of love against the latter.

His face contorted into a grimace at that word.

Naïve souls, blindly and foolishly following such a lie.

He scoffed, and mockingly chuckled at the meaningless concept. He looked to the other passengers, the families, the couples, the friends. Such fools, carrying such a weakness around.

I’m glad to be rid of those chains.

His amber orbs scanned around the passengers, searching for anyone out of the ordinary, someone that may be following him.

He didn’t find anyone worrisome, though his eyes did land on particular two passengers.

A young woman with an even younger child- a boy from what he could see. Both were seated next to each other, his observation gone unnoticed by the two.

The young woman had her arms crossed and firm, while the young boy looked to be enclosed to himself, nervously fidgeting with his hands.

He raised a brow when the young woman hissed quietly at the young boy, the latter stopping his fidgety actions.

He felt that familiar urge tug at his mind, the one that recommended he pay close attention.

He focused on observing the two more closely.

Both obviously knew each other. Was she the babysitter? Highly unlikely. Family members? That sounded more…plausible. Though they hardly shared any similarities. Foster siblings, perhaps?

Regardless of what their relationship was, the two had intrigued his interest.

First Music Monday for me. And in celebration of that I've decided to overindulge and get three songs for my three blog accounts because why not.

One song for a character, one song for a past romance between OCs, and one song for a WIP. Let's start with romance for my FC5 WIP.

For my two FC5 OCs; Sylvester Silva Omar (future junior deputy of Hope County) and her first love, Irene Neon (dreaded daughter of her equally dreaded father, the "Good Doctor" Kamski Neon) from my FC5 WIP Silva's Hope from my @the-silver-chronicles blog.

Alright from what I could calculate, here's how many lines I have to write for each vote below (and I apologise but I am going to do a little bit of gushing):

First Place aka the Winner - You're Almost Like Family, an FC5 WIP where the Seeds are stuck in a Groundhog "Day"/"Palm Springs"/time loop during the Reaping and inconveniently tied to my deputy OC, Silva Omar, who pretty much takes the role of Rita in which I mean she's not a love interest per say but someone who's not part of the "in the loop" club and unknowingly witnesses this family's deaths multiple times (or is herself killed by them) -> FOUR VOTES/SENTENCES.

Second place - No Snake, Only A Boa In The Garden, another FC5 WIP of mine (though a lot less lighter and more serious than the above; all hurt with comfort that comes way, way later and almost too late), that does a deep nose-dive focus on the themes of "Adam and Eve", "Lillith", "the Garden of Eden", "the Snake", etc, etc, that whole schtick and does a little divergence on how it is the foundations of the twisted ideals that the Congregation of Omar's Guard, the cult Silva originated from, stands on. It also includes Silva's relationship with her father, as well as with Paul (who she considered her padre), and how history seems to be repeating itself now that she's dealing with Eden's Gate in the present (there's more things that I'll talk about some other time) -> TWO VOTES/SENTENCES.

Third & Fourth place ties - Jurassic World: Before The Storm, a Jurassic World fanfic (I have chapter one out on here, AO3, fanfiction.net and Wattpad because I'm a freak) set in The UnTitledverse where siblings (both humans and dinosaurs alike) try to be functional in a dinosaur park that is definitely not going to be sabotaged, and The True Sinners, another FC5 WIP that acts as a little alternative scenario in which case Silva doesn't join the police department and meets the Seeds pre-Reaping, and in true FC5 fandom fashion, just like all the Deputy OCs at some point before Silva, her appearance is taken as a sign and she gets kidnapped by Eden's Gate. Lima Syndrome happens, where Jacob goes "my Pup" and doesn't want to share his new captive/friend with the rest of his family, but John goes "no, my Wrath", Joseph goes "no, my Child" and Faith just goes all in and is like "no, my special Angel" and Silva is just a tug-a-war doll caught in the middle. Subplot, Kamski actually decides to socialise with the "normal locals" of Hope County which is an atrocious act against God -> ONE VOTE/SENTENCE EACH.

Sharing two WIPs. The first is of chapter two of the Jurassic World Before The Storm fic, chapter one of which will be released in SIX days now, while the other WIP is of my FC5 fic Silva's Hope.

Here's the snippet of my Jurassic World WIP below:

“Now that introductions have been made, it’s best to get moving to cover more time for the day,” the woman, Zara, replies.

Joaquin didn’t need to look up at Lisa to know an annoyed scowl was in the midst of forming. Cautiously, he reached out a hand to her crossed arms, a gentle weight on them.

When she shifted her attention to him, the scowl had left, replaced with her soft gaze of hazel acknowledging the nervousness in his small brown eyes.

The eye-contact did not last long, for Joaquin strained to keep hold of the tender look he knew Lisa struggled to share even in her happiest moods. The comfort he should feel turned into distress as she kept staring at him. Overwhelmed and not wanting to have a “panic” in public, Joaquin broke the direct contact and looked away.

Joaquin disliked the prolonged action, how it rubbed him the wrong way when others stared at him for longer than he felt was necessary. Especially when the look into his eyes like they’re searching for some hidden secret. Made him feel sick, like if butterflies were flapping around in his belly.

He also felt as if he had done wrong against Lisa. It wasn’t her fault; his “anxieties”, his “shyness”, his “meek nature”. Just like her “happy moods” and “sad moods” weren’t within her control. His sister was aware of his skittishness, he knew that, and best of all never shunned him for it.

But he sometimes wished that he could give Lisa the comfort she deserved to have.

With her focus no longer on him, Joaquin heard Lisa conversing with Zara once more, much to his relief.

“Ms Dearing had agreed she’d meet us in person,” Lisa gritted out with renewed patience, “What changed?”

“Ms Dearing has been held up by unfinished affairs,” Zara replied, a small smile tugging at her lips as she softly shook her head fondly, “But nothing has changed. I will tour you through the park and show where you will be staying.”

Joaquin saw Lisa’s crossed hands clenching tightly. He also saw Lisa chewing her cheek in contemplation.

Hopefully she doesn’t bite it too hard again, he worried privately, and was unable to stop the stray thought as more came with it, Too hard and her sore might reopen. Then blood would pour out. And she’d be in pain, red slipping out, and he wouldn’t know what to do! She would get an infection, and the carers would come back and take him away from her and he’d be left alone without his sister, and she would be left without him, and it would be all his fault-!

Joaquin snapped out of the rapidly growing panicked thoughts as Zara’s voice speared through the air, looking towards the older woman, who had received no acknowledgement or response from his sister, “Will that be alright, Ms Cobalt?”

Joaquin barely heard the teeth-clenched confirmation from his undoubtedly agitated sister, “Just dandy.”

The agitation seemed to not bother Zara, or maybe it flew over her head, it was hard to tell.

“Wonderful. If you would kindly follow me to the monorail, I believe we can make it to the great lunch specials,” Zara spoke with a pleased and jovial voice. Though that could just be her music that seemed lay on her voice.

Zara turned tail and started walking towards the monorail station. Lisa and Joaquin glanced to one another, the former failing to contain her annoyance, the latter waiting for his sister's next move as he recovered from his own frenzied menagerie of anxious thoughts.

And here's a snippet of Silva's Hope (again this is under heavy development, this is just what I feel confident with so far, even if it the final product might be different):

"So," Kamski's voice returned from the static of the walkie talkie, finally arriving at the topic of importance, "Were you hired?"

Silva sipped again on the hot liquid of her brewed coffee, undeterred by the strong smell tingling her nose. She had gotten used to it.

Brushing a strand of dark hair back, Silva pressed the button and relayed the news she knew Kamski was dreading to hear, "I had been. Answered questions, kept to the story, no problems occurred. Interview went on without a hitch. Sheriff said I begin at the week's end."

Silence befell the kitchen, the lamps strewn throughout Silva's home now the only source of lights left to illuminate the rooms. She made her way to the maroon couch, seating herself in the middle. She brought the mug to her lips once more as Kamski made his reply.

"Not that I don't trust your judgement Silva, but are you sure you should be interacting with the locales Americanos? They can be quite... divisive."

Kamski's voice was steady as he spoke, but Silva could pick up the underlying hints of worry underneath the gruffness. Despite this, she could not hold back an amused snort at his words, "And we've never been?"

"You know what I mean Silva," Kamski responded, tone stern and serious, "This isn't la Minas. The community can be unpredictable if they acquire certain information."

Gulping down the last of her coffee, Silva settled the mug on the table before countering, "And this isn't the Archipiélagos either, Kamski. You and I are more likely to die in an automobile accident because we got distracted looking at something new, shiny and different before anyone decides to aim a weapon at either one of us for petty and meaningless mierda."

Kamski grunted over the transmitter, and Silva exhaled a breath out. This had been a common back-and-forth. It wasn't unwarranted, especially with two of the worst tragedies Silva's ever faced years prior. But Silva had been tired of it. The grief. The anger. The empty loneliness.

No Snake, Only A Boa In The Garden: 2 VOTES. This FC5 WIP puts heavy focus on the motif of "Adam and Eve" (which also includes elements in regards to "Lilith", "Original Sin" and the "Garden of Eden") that I don't believe Silva's Hope will be able to do so. I won't go into too much detail as this is still under construction. Snippet below:

The narrative of Adam and Eve’s story was both a warning and a threat to those who doubted the Lord’s plan, showing what happens when everyone strays from their role and accept the “deceptions” of the evil Snake. The end of the story was interpreted as grim by most, given Adam’s unfortunate fate.

This cautionary tale was propagandised, showing what happens when one betrays the Lord’s teachings, like Eve had done when she accepted the temptation of the Snake.

The True Sinners: 1 VOTE. This FC5 WIP is a little scenario is if Silva chose not to become a deputy but still had the worst luck in meeting the Seeds some time before the Reaping begins. And instead of Silva developing the likes of Stockholm Syndrome, the Seeds like Silva a bit too much and develop Lima Syndrome. Featuring a side plot of Kamski having to socialise with the Resistance to get Silva back. Snippet below:

According to his sources, the local cult was becoming anxious and more aggressive. Just like the Enforcers stationed down in the Minas had been. It was a major red flag for the both of them, and it had been enough to push Silva out of bed to grab her rifle and kick her skills back into gear.

Jurassic World: Before The Storm: 1 VOTE. Chapter 2 of my published Jurassic World fic (chapter 1 is pinned in my The UnTitledverse blog on Tumblr but can be alternatively found on AO3, fanfiction.net and Wattpad, links provided in the pinned post. The fic focuses on the bond of siblings and its importance (even with those who aren't blood related) and explores the worldview (both human and dinosaur) of the science and nature behind Jurassic World, but is also a slow-burn tragedy in the making as we get closer and closer to canon complicity. Snippet below:

Following the dark-haired brunette woman to the station, Joaquin couldn’t help but look in awe at how well the surrounding nature and man-made structures fit together. Smoothly combined to fill the station with life.

La Última En Pie: 1 VOTE. The prequel to Silva's Hope. Silva wasn't always Silva, you know? She was once known as Sylvester. A single mother trying to balance raising her 5-year-old hija Persephone and keeping her late hermana's floristry afloat, in a community she was still a stranger in. But she was free, and so was her ever curious and energetic hija who liked planes and was a fan of the celebrity bear, Cheeseburger. Living a normal life. Until Paul returned. But he had changed. And in six excruciating months, he changed her. Snippet below:

"Something is coming. You can feel it," Father glanced down next to him, where Sylvester's small frame stood, head bowed and body still, listening to the cold warm in his voice as he addressed her, "Can't you, Daughter?" Did she? Should she have? Sylvester knew something was coming, as she had been told for years. But could she feel it as Father did? She didn't answer, nor did she question, for to do either would be to insult Father and doubt his word, and he never tolerated such behaviour. He was always pleased with her silence. Sylvester could almost feel Father's gaze return to the window, satisfied by the lack of reply from her, as he continued.

And lastly, Miraculous Miracles: 1 VOTE. Here is a Miraculous Ladybug series where Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste are trained by Fu and a De-facto Guardian, an inter-dimensional warping plant-parasite (with limbs) named Hatter who uses magic cards to beat people up and cause property damage, along with his avatar(s) who get no benefit from switching places with Hatter in the "Other Dimension" while the hero himself hogs his time in their realm, hoping humans can survive on rocks. There is character development but Hatter does everything in his power to deter it (spoilers: he fails). This is only scratching the lighthearted surface, things in fact do get worse much later. Snippet below:

Hatter tilted his head at the pair of youth, wind from outside brushing against his leaves and roots. He looked around the hotel lobby; the pillars toppled, the stairs crumbled, the gaping hole in the front doors and the glass chandelier smashed on top of the unconscious akumatised victim. He nodded his head in faux agreement, and simply replied, "Quite."
