I learned to become as invisible as the creatures were for all the others. I didn't tell anyone anything about the beings anymore. Until I met you.

Pronouns: she/her

Age: 25

Species: Human (??)

Occupation: Librarian at a university

Thanea learned early on that she seems to be the only human who can see behind the veil that hides the supernatural. Neither her parents nor her brother do. In school she got bullied a lot and sent to therapy by her parents for seeing/imagining things.

At some point she stopped wondering why she had this connection with magical creatures and just accepted it, trying to live in line with both worlds. She became very reserved and wary of humans, tries to not let them too close in fear that at some point the instances where she can't hide her ability will drive them away again - or worse.

But she's also naturally curious so when Nevras shows up with the possibility to find out more about herself she can't say no.

DMATAC - Chapter 30 is out!

Here is a small excerpt

– You still have nightmares of the war that often? – Draco decided to confirm. Harry nodded. – Pretty much every night. I’m used to them by now, but I just… I just sleep little and… – Harry started to stammer again. – Anyway, I won’t get any rest by trying to sleep right now. I take too many Dreamless Sleep, way more than I should, and I can’t have many more, I don’t want to end up addicted to them, if I’m not already… – Harry complained, and Draco felt that pain in his heart to see the saviour of the Wizarding World still living with nightmares. That was just wrong, Harry Potter should have everything! Draco stood up and walked to a locker behind his desk and took a small glass vial. He sat back in the couch and offered it to Harry. – This will help. It’s not Dreamless Sleep, is my own brewing. It’s a mix of Dreamless Sleep and Calming Draught, but I got rid of the addictive nature. Take it and get some sleep. – Draco was not letting him do anything but rest at that point. Draco took two weeks off the case just to recover the accident on the Manor, and Harry was probably just overloading himself more and more, without ever stopping, and Draco knew he needed to stop. But Harry just stared at the potion without actually drinking it, or even taking the vial. – Really, Potter, you’re still doubting me? I’ll drink a bit if you’re afraid I’ll poison you or something… – Draco felt his heart tighten with that hesitation. After Harry being so blindingly confident with his blood magic, Draco got a bit more confidant that there was a little more there than just working together, but it was probably just the imagination of his dumb and infatuated heart. – No, Draco, that’s not it! – Harry quickly took the vial, pulled the lid, and gulped the potion down. – Thank you. – Harry offered him back the empty vial. Draco took the vial, and was about to get up, but Harry held his arm. – I wasn’t doubting you, Draco. – Harry insisted in a soft whisper, and Draco thought that even without glasses Harry could tell that Draco was upset with that hesitation. – It’s the opposite, actually. I thought how much easier my nights could have been if I found you again sooner. I… I just… Thank you, really.

I have so many wips and in every single one of them without fail if sapnap is a character his name will be autocorrected to subpoena at least once I don't get it

He looked away, uncurling his fingers and looking at the inscription on the charm again. Three simple words he remembered painstakingly agonising over for weeks, trying to determine the perfect words to adorn on the necklace, when really the perfect words didn’t seem to exist. He’d eventually settled on something simple, something he thought was meaningful but now as he looked at it again, it seemed quite trite.

“Never thought I’d be the kind of guy parents didn’t let date their daughter.” He sighed too and released you from his hold.

“Yeah, well…you know.” You shrugged taking a step backwards.

“I’m staying at the Sunset Motel out on the two-fifteen.” He blurted out.

“Ew why?” You frowned at him, causing him to laugh.

“Because I’m a starving PhD student who spent all their money on gas to drive here. It’s forty bucks a night, it has a bed and a shower. It’ll do.”

“The rental car she was found in was in her name. But no one checked into the Blue Lantern under that name. The innkeeper told the Franklin County sheriff that a woman checked in matching her description under the name Dorothea Brooke. Does that mean anything to you?” Emily spoke again, causing Spencer’s eyes to quickly land on her.

He had something akin to a smile toying at the corner of his lip and a wistfulness to his eyes. He clutched the necklace tighter.

“George Eliot’s Middlemarch.” He sighed. “Dorothea Brooke and Will Ladislaw. They were perfect for each other except life kept getting in their way. The book details a series of false starts and misunderstandings between the two of them. But, uh, in the end they realise they just fit, they were both a little quirky and misunderstood. We adopted those monikers, Dorothea and Will, in the hopes we’d get our happy ending one day, just like they did.”

The truth was he’d missed the signs that night. He’d gone along to your party with you and seen you have a few drinks which was nothing out of the ordinary. It wasn’t until much later when he had you back at the motel and you were naked on top of him when he saw it. You were high. He should have noticed it in your erratic behaviour, it wasn't as though it was the first time he'd seen you on drugs.

20 Questions for Fic Writers

(I was not tagged, but I saw @rose-of-pollux post this form a few weeks ago & it looked fun)

How many works do you have on AO3?

I have 38 works under my username on ao3. I also have 17 anon-ed fics from a fandom I no longer wish to associate with, and a handful of fics on ff.net that I didn't like enough to transfer to ao3.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 29,645 words

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Right now only feeling inspired to write for The Man from UNCLE TV show. Though I did post a Good Omens fic this year, & I could probably persuade myself to write another oneshot or two for that.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do always try to thank the person for reading. I usually only forget if it's a comment on a very old fic.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

This is extremely hard for me to answer. Out of the 50+ fics I've written, probably only 5 of them are not angst. My Good Omens fic Aeternum has the most gutting descriptions, but I have always felt that the absolute sucker punch at the end of Provocation (X/1999) hurt the most to write, & to reread.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Oh undoubtedly my MFU contemporary High School AU, The Puzzle.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I have never gotten hate, but I have gotten backhanded compliments that I personally find hilarious. I made a post about it before here.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I... have attempted to write smut, but I don't think I necessarily succeeded. I have written several sex scenes with undetailed descriptions, and the one time I did attempt to be explicit the comments and I both agree that it came out sounding rather clinical. So I dunno if either of those situations really count.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I have written several crossovers, but I wouldn't consider any of them crazy.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so, I don't think any of my fics have ever gotten popular enough for anyone to want to steal haha.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I used to translate my own fics into Spanish wayyy back when I first started writing, but I haven't done that in ages.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No but it sounds like fun! Would love to give it a shot some day.

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?

Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin. I am like Smeagol; I'm "interested in roots and beginnings." And how much closer to the root of contemporary fandom can you get, than with these two silly beans?

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I would love to finish my 2019 Good Omens fic Temporalia because I think there are some good ideas & beautiful passages in there. The problem is that my interpretation of the characters has changed, & is no longer consistent with some of the details I wrote back then. I'd also like to complete my 2018 FrostIron fic someday, just for the sake of finishing it. It was entirely plotted when I quit on it, and I still have all my notes.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I am good at writing turmoil, inner confusion, and despair. I try to wring every ounce of angst out of descriptions, letting the character's distress color their perception of their environment, and I think I'm pretty decent at it. I also think I'm pretty good at expressing complex emotions without being too direct, though sometimes I worry that I'm too indirect & that I'll leave readers confused.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

PLOT, I am extremely impatient when writing scenes where things actually happen. Also dialogue, I always feel that my dialogue either just does not sound realistic, or does not sound like the characters.

Another huge writing weakness is that I am incapable of writing anything longer than short story length, & have abandoned every attempt at a longfic after the 2nd chapter.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I have done this in the past for characters who canonically do this. I know it is standard practice to italicize all foreign language words when writing, but I personally find this VERY jarring. I generally leave foreign dialogue unitalicized & formatted indistinguishably from the primary language dialogue. But I think I may be the only one with this pet peeve, because I have received a few complaints about my lack of italicization from readers.

I could go way more in depth as to why the italics on foreign words annoy me, but I don't think anyone would be interested in hearing that rant 😂

19. First fandom you wrote for?

The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. It was 2008. That fic has been scrubbed from the internet lol.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

Provocation (X/1999). It was the one and only time I'd ever written something and then thought "Ah. Yes. This is an absolutely perfect execution of my vision."

What she would’ve never imagined is the impact that this human child will have on her life... and her heart.

✧ Summary: Vampires have revealed their existence and it turns out that vamprirism is a hereditary disease. That reveal has caused a lot of disturbance so the government has etablished a rule that every vampire has to be assigned at least one human blood donor and are forbidden to feed from others. Noa one day receives a call that she is suited for being a blood donor to a young vampire who's vampirism only recently arose. Besides having to adjust to this change, the young vampire Corin has to deal with the bloody family business which he never wanted to be a part of. And he especially never wanted Noa to be a part of this...

DMATAC - Chapter 19: Family Reunion

Hello, today I'm bringing a random excerpt of my fic DMATAC (Draco Malfoy and The Aeternum Caput), from Chapter 19!

Surprisingly, Potter laughed. – He’s right kids, we can’t settle this tonight. – He said, and when Draco looked up to him, Potter looked like he was about to extend his hand to help him up. Draco felt his heart leaping in his chest when he saw the gesture, but Anya walked in front of Potter, shooing him away. – I will help him up. And he will crush you next time, mister Chosen One! – She said, glaring at Potter. Both Draco and Potter laughed. – Sure, I can’t wait for the next challenge… – Potter said, his green eyes fixed on Draco as he got up and dusted of the dirt from his fancy clothes. – You already offer to duel me, Potter, that should prove to be interesting. – Draco let his voice go to that icy threatening tone he liked so much. – God, Malfoy you do not stand a chance against me in a duel. – Potter sneered. – I hope you know that whoever messes with fire ends up getting burned, Potter. Because I’ll breathe fire down on you. – Draco threatened, and a glimpse of worry went through Potter’s green eyes. – Don’t worry. I’m sure I can find a way to tame a dragon. – Potter smirked. – Oh, only in your dreams, Potter! – Draco smirked back, doing absolutely everything in his power not to read anything else into that last sentence. Too bad Draco’s mind was filthy and lived in the gutter. And his filthy, gutter-living mind read so many things into that last sentence.

- about 2 more chapters of the Andromaquynh University AU coming up soon(ish)... It's still a damn slow-burn, I swear if I end up only having the getting together in the last chapter, I'll write an epilogue for some established feels xD

- As far as I remember I ended up never posting the (smutty) Andronilynh fic with Quỳnh in lingerie? Was supposed to be a discord collab with a fanartist months ago, but I think by now I can assume they've abandoned the project xD (vague so I won't call them out lol), so... I'll just post the fic itself, I think it's finished already, just gotta dig out the draft

- Sth more for the Just You And Me series maybe? I do have a bunch of ideas but no concrete plans yet...

Then, I've got some Milippa fics coming up:

- a getting together ficlet (2k, T) I wrote in the middle of the night and after looking at it earlier today and then just closing the Word doc with a headache, I think I'll just post that without further edits lmao - edit- posted!

- I want to write a longer(ish, probably still just a ficlet of 1-2k) version of this photostory for ao3! I was thinking about whether to make it established or pre-relationship, then came up with an idea for a getting-together variant that I like, and now I've just seen @onaperduamedee's tags here, and I love that idea as well! But maybe as a separate ficlet some day (if you'd be okay with me writing that, Flo?), as I don't think it'd work out with the idea I already drafted now.

- The very very slowly growing fic (I have more or less abandoned the idea of turning it into a longfic, but maybe that means that I'll post it soon-ish now... Damn, I really love the idea but I just can't seem to bring myself to write much for it, why brain whyy) that's a follow-up to this post by @georgiov :)

- Thinking about whether or not and if yes when to start podficcing part 4 of Leo Inter Serpentes by @aeternumregina, a wonderful longfic series (and I've seen you've started posting the last part!!! Really need to catch up), problematics being a) time (podficcing is hella time extensive and I'm not sure I want to get tied down in weekly uploads again, but on the other hand a slower upload schedule would make it harder to remember the voices and all when reading), b) it's partly NSFW, which I'd censor for the audio, which again is Work, c) it's HP and... Well... I've been working on getting the overterf's name /out/ of my ao3 fandom top5 (the ones that are shown without clicking expand on the list) by getting my Star trek disco fic count to higher than HP, which it now nearly is, and I don't want to ruin that lmao, d) if I do start another long podfic, I'd actually love to podfic my own Andromaquynh fic In Your Stead? Because for once I have a story I wrote myself that I feel would be worth it... But like... I also really do want to continue Leo Inter Serpentes! But it's 7 monsterlong fics! And just...aaah!
