The Contestants Are Here!

Thank you for your patience, I'm now ready to announce our contestants for the Obscure Character Showdown! There are 300 characters, split up into 6 groups of 50.

Here's how the schedule will work: Day 1 is Group A Round 1 Part 1, Day 2 is Group A Round 1 Part 2, Day 3 is Group B Round 1 Part 1, Day 4 is Group B Round 1 Part 2, Day 5 is Group C Round 1 Part 1, and so on and so forth until we reach Group F Round 1 Part 2, and then the next day we'll fold back over for Group A Round 2. I'm splitting up the rounds because tumblr can interpret posting many polls at once as spamming, and each group contains 25 polls, so. 13 one day, 12 the next.

I expect to start polls by Wednesday, May 31, but I may be a little later than that. I'll keep you updated.

From the front office of the Sarnia Slut Slayers

I just lost $10 Canadian on the Golden Bachelorette with my Canadian Mother in law. I'm sure Raj topped that gambling degeneracy but I tried. I also lost $50 to Dusty betting on Kamala, lost $50 to Ricardo betting the Dodgers wouldn't win the World Series. I need a Jake Paul victory over Mike Tyson to win $50 from Max and break this losing streak. 

But, there is no losing streak in LOG for The Slayers(our pronouns are Slayer/Slayers, and not Slut/Sluts) They are off to a fantastic start.  Not only are they 9-1, have almost double the FAAB than the rest of the league, but have also won a nice bottle of tequila from Ethan, $50 booze to drink with Brad on Christmas, Lunch with House at High Street, getting to piss in Raj's face, and a guaranteed job with Petey at his restaurant.  And he will only sexually and verbally harass me a little bit.

I would have never believed that at the beginning of the year that I would make two singing bets with Hames, but I guess that's why they play the games.  Hames has to sing the iconic "Touchdown" at a seedy place next year pre draft, and this week the loser of our Matchup has to sing the national anthem to kick off next year's draft. I recommend you all make at least one matchup bet this year. Do a double stack and get weird with it. 

I did lose one bet this year and owe the Mish a fancy as fuck lunch at Stickaman's The Galley.  Mish recently paid his bet from last year of being a Spectrum Classic ball/water boy.  He earned all of the volleyball players respect and we called him "Ball Man" by the end.  He brought the highest quality H20 and rose the Spectrum Classic to a new level.  I have no doubt that good karma and cold plunges have led the Commish(long may he reign) to his best start of his life. He has applied his new mindset to fantasy football. "Make a trade, you pussy." "I don't watch football, kids first" It's really paying off.

The cream has risen to the top, but that cream has left everyone still alive for a playoff berth. Everyone is within three games of the playoffs with 5 to go. 

Even the Halloween Store has a chance in November to pivot to selling Pilgrim and Indian costumes?

Raj could get pissed on again and turn his life around and stop being a piece of shit?

Dusty could return from the honeymoon and hit the waivers?

Brad and Ethan can show why they are former champions and sneak into the playoffs?

It's fucking WILD to me that Sera, Bull, and Dorian is a reasonable and balanced party to bring to the fucking WINTER PALACE. Like, we on the outside see that team composition and go "Ah yes, you brought Sera for the Red Jenny drops, Bull because there's combat, and Dorian because you need a mage and maybe even because you're romancing him and want the dance cutscene. Makes sense."

But in canon? What must the advisors have been thinking when you pitched that grouping? Like?

At first glance it makes sense to bring Dorian, he's a rich fucker, he's used to fancy balls and parties and knows how to schmooze. But then you look deeper and realize he has outright distaste for pretty much anything Orlesian that he makes little to no effort to hide, he's going to get drunk, and he's already burned any bridges he possibly had in terms of useful connections in Tevinter. And then you look at the other mage you could take in his place? And you realize VIVIENNE WAS LITERALLY RAISED FOR THIS EXACT SITUATION. So like, yeah, there's probably somebody better for the job, but this is a respectable enough decision that your war council won't push you on it.

And then you pick Bull. And like, the man is a spy. The fact that the court will take exactly one look at him and brush him off as a particularly boorish and distasteful bodyguard could be helpful for gathering information. But the mission is to make a good impression on the racist, classist, pseudointellectual Orlesian court, and literally none of Bull's possible covers are good for that. And your advisors aren't necessarily expecting combat. They know it's a possibility, which is why they'd let this choice slide. But you're kind of shooting the diplomacy side of this mission in the foot by refusing to pick a human, maybe Cassandra, who is also a warrior that can protect you if it comes to a fight, BUT ONE WHO GREW UP AROUND HUMAN NOBILITY.

And then your council is like. "Okay. Unconventional, but okay. And who else are you taking?" And your Inquisitor looks them in the eyes. And says. "Sera." As if this dream team didn't have enough chaos on it already, you're taking the elf who gets violent around rich human snobs to a palace where she will be constantly surrounded by rich human snobs, and will not be allowed to stab any of those rich human snobs. In fact, she will be forced to interact with those rich human snobs as a high ranking member of the Inquisition, which, I will remind you, is supposed to be making a good impression on said rich human snobs. And even beyond that, Sera is the least likely to take any of this seriously, and the most likely to pull a dumb prank that ruins the entire operation. And who else is on the team? Oh yeah, Dorian and Bull, the most likely people to laugh their asses off at that prank instead of putting a stop to it.

And who is the highest ranking, most important member of this party? The same fucking mad bastard of an Inquisitor that thought this matchup was a good idea, who in the eyes of the court is probably a fucking Carta dwarf gangbanger or a Tal Vashoth mud farmer turned mercenary or a heathen apostate mage.

And your war council just lets you do this???? I can practically look into Cullen's dead eyes and see him thinking "This might as well happen. Inquisition life is already so goddamn weird," as he changes into the worst formal outfit on Thedas and gets ready to be groped in a crowded ballroom all night by a bunch of middle aged Orlesians who have eligible single daughters. This is a fucking travesty. The fact that this is allowed to happen is the only proof that Leliana still has a sense of humor under the spymaster hood. I can't even fathom what was going on in Josephine's head that distracted her from putting a stop to this before it got started; I can only assume she stopped listening when Bull was mentioned because she had to do some frantic last minute calculations on the cost of that much red fabric.

On a chilly winter day, tease him and rile him up and soon enough you’ll both be a whole lot warmer than before. Poe is very susceptible to flirting, the littlest teases will get him all worked up. He also likes to use his books for erotic fantasies with you, sometimes they’re used for wholesome dates, other times he writes them to do things he would otherwise feel too shy to do. It will depend on what you like, but inside the book you could experiment in public or set up some fun and sexy challenges to get out of the book. Something that would test your limits, in a good way. Poe would be putty under your hands if you decided to, say, tie his wrists and ride him. He would try to take the lead, if you wanted, but he would prefer to choreograph things out ahead if he’s in control. So, he’s a bit more dominant in the comfort of a scene he picked in his books than he is in his own home. Poe isn’t too great at going with the flow but overtime he would learn how to lose himself in just bein with you and not overthink it all so much.

Ma'am is an absolute lotta true crime(penelope scott) vibes type of gal. She probably has strong opinions about known and lesser know murderers. She gets so cute when talking about it cause she's like "!!! and you won't believe this!!!" and she's just becomes so comfortable and enthusiastic I love her.

Her reading books and then telling you all about her reviews of them is just!!! Also if you recommend a book to her she will make comments on it as she goes through it, kinda like she's reacting like to a tv show to you, if that makes sense, live tweeting or smth might sound more familiar. Anyway she loves sharing her theories, reviews and just talk about books ingeneral!!!

She would love to take you out shopping!! The type of person to show her love primarily through gift giving, so please let her buy you things. She would buy them behind your back otherwise, she's too stubborn to just give up without getting you the gift. She's so awkward about it though, in a way she only gets around you. You met post Thor: Ragnorok Thor to be clear. Anyway you were traveling through New Asgard on a lil field trip when everyone got snapped back. Due to the commotion, things shut down for a while so you were stuck in New Asgard for a while.

Up to this point it was basically urban legend type stories you had learnt about Thor. I mean, a god from space? Sounds awfully convenient in this economy.

I just juked you out that's not when you first met. You both met on your second visit to New Asgard when you visited friends you had made during the blip incident.

So you both met, and Thor was still recovering from literally everything but he is recovering and he is gettig his found family yadayada.

You both have a minimum conversation as he says farewell to the mutual friend that you had came to meet and he's all like "farewell, fair maiden, until we meet again" on you swoon bc Chris Hemsworth amirite. ANYWAY you both do meet again after he comes back to visit after schenagians with the gotg gang(the movie hasnt come out idk what's going on)

He is the counter weight of clumsiness, because he is also clumsy and two negatives make a positive right? Anyway, what I'm saying is that when you're clumsy, you'll have some comically helpful scene where Thor catches it accidentally and then he just looks up like "I got you pretty lady ;)" expect it's a lot less smooth.

Golden Retriver!!! He can make you comfortable in 0.00001 seconds or less. He is such a supportive guy, even if he may have no idea what he's supporting because god moment, but he is here for you!!! He probably talks to Bruce about how he can learn stuff faster to catch up with what you're saying.

You'll be happy to find out that this man also hates horror movies, BUT he did read Twilight bc Tony convinced him it was supposed to be a masterpiece. Please give him better recommendations he is in too deep it isnt ok nor fun for anyone.

I'm going to be entirely honest, please be patient with him, your humor flies over his head half of the time. He's still adjusting, but one thing he IS familiar with is sarcasm. I think he finds sarcastic people really comforting and cool, and he thinks you're the most comforting and coolest of them all.

He likes to tell his lil stories about Asgard and Loki and yadayada mr.i-am-so-cool-and-accomplished. Either way please listen to him!! He is so excited to have someone listen to his stories with any level of enthusiasm. I feel like in Thor: Ragnorok and after he's grown to realise that people express interest differently and now he's aware of that with you!!! Also every other thing will remind him of a story so prepare for anecdotes.

He likes to bake. He likes to bake earth recipes along with the occasional surprise asgard time recipe!!! He doesn't measure to your skill though, as he sometimes gets impatient when baking alone and juts, yeah. But baking with you is like youre both in your own world and time doesnt exist <3

He is a summer boy who likes to frolick in sunflower fields and have picnics. Cottagecore lifestyle with no cottagecore style. what im trying to say is life is simple, baking, picnics, chickens, I don't know. On that note, I DO know that Thor does really like chickens.

Thanks for your ask Anon! I have the perfect boy for you. This guy is huge standing upright and dons a thick furry coat in winter but this is a shaved down version! He is a cryptid~

his fella will adopt whatever name you give him, his sharp claws scare the locals especially when he needs to eat, but he is an omnivore! He puts on an aggressive exterior but if you follow him back to his cave you'll find a few odd things! The opening is very small, like a shadow he can ease through small openings to keep his den safely hidden (he can take larger objects and creatures with him) If you make it in somehow, you might find him asleep on a large pile of chubby stuffed toys and pillows, some are even nicely arranged on crudely made shelves carved from the rock. If you prove to be no threat to him, prepare to be picked up, walked in circles before being deeply cuddled. He is very posessive and loves to nap, and once he has something or someone to protect, he will die for you. Dont move his stuffed toys, no one knows why he collects them, he can't even talk, just communicating in low grumbles and growls, so your guess is as good as mine. He will get mad at you if you move his things, which is usually sulking, ignoring, and obsessively restoring them to their original position. This guy also feels really cool! he seems mostly solid, but if you run your fingers through his hair or fur, it trails off into whisps of thick smoke that is a very foreign sensation!
