I realized recently (read: today as I'm writing this) that while I associate certain specific fiber arts with Athena (knitting, weaving, dying, and spinning), I associate crochet specifically with Apollo, though Athena's there too, of course. I think it's because it's more free-flowing: I can freehand something with crochet more easily than I can with knitting, both because I've known it longer and because there are fewer Things To Learn, unlike knitting which has a million different techniques that may seem interchangeable but actually aren't and that all affect the end product in a pretty big way (looking at you decreases & bind-offs). Because I can free-hand crochet more easily, and I grew with it the same way I did with drawing, they have similar vibes. Knitting and weaving, on the other hand, have steeper learning curves imo and are way more structured- and I associate more solid (dare I say rigid) structure with Athena. Embroidery and cross-stitch are kinda in their own floating category, maybe because I do them less and therefore have weaker associations with them over-all. I associate hand-sewing largely with Hestia, though again, Athena is always also there, because I associate it with mending, altering clothing, and making home items (ex the quilted pillowcase I've been mentally turning around in my head for the last few weeks).

Interestingly, I find printmaking specifically to be associated with both Athena and Apollo. It leans into the latter's domain, of course, the same way crochet does Athena's, but the structure you need in order to layer & print properly without hurting yourself, ruining equipment, or fucking up you edition seems reminiscent of Athena. Dyeing, especially making & using natural dyes, feels very much like an Athena thing despite it 1) feeling similar to painting or using inks and 2) being a trial & error process that's honestly pretty free-flowing if you approach it a certain way (especially if you do solar dyeing, which doesn't necessarily need some of the more meticulous processes you need to boil-dye something).

i saw him on my screen in real time back in like '07 and was like "oh yeah that's gonna be the guy i'm gonna model my personality after" (look we can talk about how wise that was but i was 15 okay)

i started drinking my coffee black and listening to blue oyster cult and ac/dc because of dean winchester. i copied his tough as nails attitude and used it as my own shield when i was a miserable teenager.

blah blah i quit the show and moved on and then picked it back up 12 years later and i still love him. that's my guy!!! dean winchester meant a lot to me!!!

and, well. yeah. the worst possible ending. dying the way he always thought he would. it reminds me of season 8 when he told sam he was nothing but a grunt (i relate to him ugh fuck) and that was all he could expect.

but sam told him he's not just a grunt, he's a genius. we saw him talk about wanting to experience things and people in a different way or for the first time. we saw him wanting out, wanting a break, wanting to go the beach with sam and cas and feel the sand between his toes.

and he got none of it. and they treated him like the grunt he always thought he was.

and they never let him see cas again. his best friend who loved him and who told him he was so much more than what he thought of himself. that he WAS love.

they took him away and then they killed dean and we're expected to be fine with it cause he went to heaven and saw sam.

i'm tired and gutted and i saw it all coming lmao, i knew every last bit of this happened!!!! so why is seeing it in context so awful!!!! i feel sick!!!!! ha

hmmm I saw "send specific art requests" so I think it would be Cool to see the gang in lmanburg and what you sort of visualize lmanburg as as like,,,,a house. also good luck with graduation 👍

honestly most bp houses originate in my mind as mobile homes. lmanburg is a bit more foundational but it still has that sort of Long Rectangle shape . living room leads into kitchen (with a little table) and then the back of the house is this long hallway, two bedrooms branching off, and a bathroom at the very end . mentally it is similar to my family's old expandable camper in terms of aesthetic ... wooden paneling, cream paint, old stripey upholstery... idk. if yall know the roomhole (heavensinterior) blog a lot of it is similar to that . also heavily inspired by the houses of various extended family members

fundy sleeps in the twin, wilbur and tommy share the queen, tubbo takes the couch . manberg era fundy and & tubbo's sleeping arrangements stay the same but schlatt and q are in the queen now

this also made me think How would i interpret the lmanburg coat in a modern context... given bps general setting id say theres a lot of Scraping to get by and that includes shitty second-hand clothes... some sort of horrible slogan i think or a logo or something im not sure. probably retcon at some point but i was sitting there thinking how can i get the "white w golden stripes" across without it looking strange?? could also be that after they start getting into little spats with dream they literally make a stupid uniform (tie-dye or acrylic paint or something) but for now it can be a little silly hoodie for chommy maybe stolen from someone else .
