Married people / people in long term relationships, most likely with men
I have to know. How do you get them to do anything. I love Matt so much, but god he just will not clean the fucking house. He'll vacuum and wash dishes and do laundry and that's the extent of what it occurs to him to do. He made crumble the other night for his friend who has had a horrible breakup, which is so sweet of him! But he left all the mess in the kitchen, crumbs and spillages all over the benches. Who cleaned it up? Me
I nag and nag that I have to do all the housework myself, despite working just as much as him, and he just says he 'forgets'. Forgets to put his drink on a coaster and then gets upset when I get annoyed that there's water marks on the coffee tables. Forgets that the bathroom is gross and could do with a wipe around. Forgets to make the bed. Forgets that the kitchen needs cleaned.
I refuse to accept 'forgetting' as an excuse tbh because he lives in this house too? He can see that things get dirty and still just leaves it for me to do? It feels disrespectful and like he sees it as a woman's job. Which I don't think he does, but because he doesn't do it it automatically fallls to me bc if I don't do it, we just live in a dirty house.
Idk am I being a dick? It's really pissed me off this morning that I went out with Maggie at 6am, walked for an hour in the freezing cold, and came home and had to make the bed that he was the last to get out of, and clean up more crumble crumbs from him portioning out crumble for his friends. Idk I'm feeling like he puts sooo much thought and effort into making other people happy which is one of my favourite things about him, but I don't appreciate being left to clean up his mess while everyone else just sees the finished product. It makes me feel like a witch when he comes home and I'm pissed off about cleaning up after him.
Soooo yeah if anyone has any advice on feeling like a housewife in 2024 where we both work full time and everything else is shared equally between us, let me know bc 'nagging' (I hate that word) gets me nowhere.

Guz left his signature hoodie back in Alola accidentally when he and Junebug travelled to Sinnoh where they're fixing up the old Chateau, so they've had to get him a new one! It works out though because he needs warmer clothes anyways for the colder region, so they're working on painting this long-sleeve hoodie to match his usual one!
real life version of the hoodie under the cut!!

finished the last painting part today and I'm just waiting on it to dry so I can heat set the paint with an iron and then it's done! :3

#you wanna know what i fucking did today?#cleaned inside my freezer. outaide of my fridge. did the dishes. dusted the blinds#cleaned the bathroom sink. took all stuff off the walls. cleaned the microwave. cleaned my bedroom window#cleaned the kitchen baseboards. under the fridge. under the oven#packed up my art supplies and some clothes#cleaned my bathroom door. front door. wiped my bedroom walls. cleaned the bathroom floor#cleaned my stove top. tidied my bedroom floor. and listed my dresser in two facebook sell groups#all within about 2.5 hours#isnt that fuckin wild?? im so tired#oh and i sold my table. i had to get up early for that. and i went for a walk to get a fun little drink#my apartment is starting to get pretty empty. furniture is going and stuff is getting packed into bins. its wack#i need to put my shit furniture by the dumpster. isnt it lovely how we put furniture by the dumpster so others can take it#i mean. the sign by mine says not to put furniture in it. so maybe its just some malicious compliance by putting it next to the dumpster#but ive heard that furniture goes next to the dumpster so that others can take it. thats where i got my desk and my mirror#im gonna miss my desk. its so cute and i love it. but i dont have space. i dont mind getting rid of the other furniture tho#its shit furniture from estate sales that i bought out of necessity#now someone can have my shit furniture if they want it#its kind of fun to see my apartment get emptier and cleaner tho. my moving time is coming up and im so excited#its wild to look at the list of shit i cleaned today. i made a list in my notebook so i could keep track of what i was doing#and its really satisfying to cross stuff off of a list. it takes up almost a whole page length#im exhausted now tho. that was a lot of fucking cleaning#okay bye

Is Window Cleaning Without Professional Help Safe?
Introduction
Window cleaning is a task that many homeowners and business owners often attempt to tackle themselves. It may seem like a simple job—grab a bucket, a squeegee, and some cleaner, and you’re good to go. However, while window cleaning can appear straightforward, it involves more than just wiping down glass surfaces. In fact, it can present several safety hazards, especially if you’re dealing with high or hard-to-reach windows.
Tumblr media
This raises an important question: is it safe to perform window cleaning without professional help? While the answer depends on several factors such as the height of the windows, the tools available, and your experience, there are some significant risks involved in cleaning windows on your own. This article will explore the safety considerations of window cleaning, discuss the potential dangers, and help you decide whether hiring a professional service is a better and safer option.
Potential Dangers of DIY Window Cleaning
1. Risk of Falls
Perhaps the most obvious and serious risk involved in window cleaning is the potential for falls. When cleaning windows, especially those on higher floors or multi-story buildings, individuals often need to use ladders, scaffolding, or even extension poles to reach the glass.
The risk of falling increases significantly if you don’t have the right equipment or experience using it. Ladders, for example, can be unstable on uneven ground or slippery surfaces, leading to falls and injuries. Additionally, working from heights without proper safety measures or training can result in accidents that can cause serious harm, including fractures, sprains, or even life-threatening injuries.
2. Lack of Proper Equipment
Professional window cleaners are equipped with specialized tools and gear designed for the task. These include safety harnesses, telescoping poles, ladders with stabilizers, and commercial-grade cleaning solutions. For a DIYer, obtaining and using the correct equipment can be costly, and not having the proper tools can lead to poor results or, worse, accidents.
For example, attempting to clean hard-to-reach windows with a regular household ladder or makeshift tools might result in streaks, smudges, or even broken windows. Ensure your high-rise windows are spotless with reliable Skyscrapers Window Cleaning Service in Cleveland. Professional window cleaners know how to use these tools correctly, which reduces the likelihood of mishaps.
3. Improper Cleaning Techniques
While it may seem simple, window cleaning requires more than just wiping down the glass. There’s a proper technique involved in ensuring that windows are cleaned without leaving streaks, damage, or residue. Without the proper knowledge, cleaning windows can lead to unsatisfactory results and even potential harm to the glass or window frames.
For example, using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials can scratch or damage the glass, leaving permanent marks. Additionally, improper use of squeegees or microfiber cloths can create streaks or leave behind unwanted lint or dirt.
4. Risk of Exposure to Hazardous Materials
When cleaning windows, especially on older buildings, there is a risk of exposure to hazardous materials such as lead paint, mold, or asbestos. These substances may not be immediately visible but can be disturbed during the cleaning process, posing health risks to individuals who are unaware of their presence.
If you live in an older home or building, especially those built before the 1970s, there could be concerns about these materials. Professional window cleaning services are well-trained to handle such hazards safely, while DIY cleaners may not have the necessary knowledge or equipment to do so.
5. Time and Effort
Even if window cleaning may seem manageable, it can be an extremely time-consuming process, especially for large properties or high-rise buildings. Without professional help, homeowners may find themselves spending hours on a task that could take a trained expert much less time to complete. Furthermore, if the window cleaning job is neglected for too long, it may become even more challenging to tackle, requiring additional effort and possibly professional assistance.
When DIY Window Cleaning Is Safe
While the risks involved in window cleaning are undeniable, there are situations where cleaning your own windows can be safe. For example, windows that are easily accessible and not too high up may not present a serious risk. If you’re only dealing with a few small panes or ground-floor windows, and if you have the proper tools and techniques, cleaning windows yourself can be a manageable and safe task.
Here are some circumstances where DIY window cleaning is likely to be safe:
Low, Accessible Windows: If your windows are on the ground floor or easily accessible via a ladder, and you are comfortable using that ladder, cleaning them yourself may be a viable option.
Single-Story Homes or Buildings: If you live in a single-story home with low windows, the risk of injury is minimal, and DIY cleaning could be a cost-effective choice.
Proper Safety Measures: If you have the correct tools, including a stable ladder, extension poles, and appropriate cleaning products, and if you know how to use them properly, you can minimize safety risks.
Conclusion
While window cleaning may seem like a simple and straightforward task, there are several safety concerns to consider before attempting it yourself. The risk of falls, improper equipment, and exposure to hazardous materials can make DIY window cleaning more dangerous than it appears. In many cases, hiring a professional window cleaning service is the safest option, as professionals have the necessary experience, training, and equipment to perform the job safely and efficiently.
If your windows are low, easily accessible, and you have the proper tools, cleaning them yourself may be safe. However, for higher windows or harder-to-reach areas, or if you're not sure how to perform the task safely, it’s always best to call in professionals. Ensuring that your windows are clean and clear doesn’t have to come at the expense of your safety.
