Four of Cups
Another card from May 2020: The Four of Cups. This one features one of my favorite historical figures William Blake. He was a Regency Era poet, an artist, and very possibly schizophrenic. He painted and sketched his celestial visitors and his art is some of the most original, interesting, and unique art I've ever seen. He continues to inspire artists throughout time and throughout the globe even to this day.
One of the most intriguing visitors he'd had was a malevolent being called "The Ghost of the Flea," essentially the spirit that lives within each flea, a being so hungry and evil that God forced it to be small in size else it would devour the entire world. It was a figure that haunted Blake from a young age and well on into his adulthood. In one particular instance a friend was visiting and asked him to describe it and he said "Well, it's standing right behind you." When asked to sketch it, Blake began sketching a face, then switched to sketch another with its mouth open, as if the figure had moved while he was drawing.
This card asks you to analyze the relationship between reality and imagination. Due to Blake's illness, the Flea was very real to him, even if no one else could see it. Unseen torments are still torments. What is hindering you right now, even if no one else can see it?

RR Pod E27 Dell Rose - Cultural Receptions of Emanuel Swedenborg: Connecting the Spiritual with the Material This month's topic centers around Emanuel Swedenborg, who was, and still is, an extremely influential figure within the currents of esotericism. Dell Rose begins by giving a short introduction about Swedenborg, and then moves to discuss other aspects of Swedenborg's life and beliefs that led to his eventual 'revelations' about the nature of the spiritual world and free will.  Dell is particularly concerned with the cultural reception of Swedenborg, and he notes that Swedenborg's influence is varied, but overwhelming. This influence is seen in all forms of cultural life from the 19th century onward, in areas such as art, literature, poetry, and music; but also in the political sphere, including public planning, cooperative societies, and women's rights. Dell shares his own research into Charles Augustus Tulk, who was keen to implement Swedenborg's ideas onto social issues, as well as other figures who were also inspired by Swedenborgian thought.

William Blake was born on November 28th, 1757, a fiery and inspirational type of Sagittarian who was difficult to pigeon-hole as he was a poet, a painter, an illustrator, engraver, publisher, activist, mystic, visionary and rebel. Only a few could appreciate him during his lifetime. The way he combined image and text was unique.
If you go to Bunhill Cemetery near Old Street, you can see his grave stone. The cemetery is reserved for the ultimate free thinkers and Blake was one who abhorred slavery, believed in free love and thought marriage was a bondage.
He was forgotten for a generation, but his posthumous fame and influence have grown enormously, not just from his memorable poems but from his mesmeric imagery often small and spontaneously created but are monuments to an unfettered imagination (Mars is currently on his North Node).
In fact he said 'Imagination is not a state; it is the human existence itself' and thought this inner power was everything. With a Moon at 29° of Cancer in the 12th house that influence keeps tapping in to the intuitive hidden realm of the mind’s fluctuations that speaks to us today.

Three Poems
Tumblr media
A flower was offered to me,
Such a flower as May never bore;
But I said I’ve a Pretty Rose-tree,
And I passed the sweet flower o’er.
Then I went to my Pretty Rose-tree,
To tend her by day and by night;
But my Rose turned away with jealousy,
And her thorns were my only delight.
AH! SUN-FLOWER
Ah Sun-flower! weary of time,
Who countest the steps of the Sun:
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
Where the travellers journey is done.
Where the Youth pined away with desire,
And the pale Virgin shrouded in snow:
Arise from their graves and aspire,
Where my Sun-flower wishes to go.
THE LILLY
The modest Rose puts forth a thorn,
The humble Sheep a threatening horn:
While the Lilly white shall in Love delight,
Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright.
— William Blake

The Tyger
A summary of "The Tyger" by William Blake. #Poetry #PottedAnalysis
By William Blake Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry? In what distant deeps or skies Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand, dare sieze the fire? And what shoulder, & what art, Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand? & what dread…
