THE CHILDREN OF KING GEORGE III & QUEEN CHARLOTTE OF THE UNITED KINGDOM
The royal couple welcomed a total of fifteen children together, but sadly not all of them survived into adulthood. Two, Prince Octavius and Prince Alfred, passed away in infancy, at the ages of 2 and 4, respectively, from smallpox. Later on, Princess Amelia also sadly died young, albeit it at the age of 27, after succumbing to tuberculosis. As for when their brood started to arrive, it seems George and Charlotte wasted no time in getting to know one another and less than a year into their marriage, on 12 August 1762

On this day in history, March 4th, in 1821, Princess Elizabeth of Clarence died of an intro-susception of the bowels. She was a little over two months old, and was the daughter of the future William IV and Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen.
She had been born prematurely, and was quickly baptized the day of her birth. She was christened Elizabeth Georgina Adelaide, with the initial choice of her parents being the name Georgina. Her uncle, George IV, wanted her to be called Elizabeth instead so Georgina would become her second name.
Her parents had already suffered the loss another daughter, Charlotte, who died on the day of her birth, and a miscarriage. Two years after Elizabeth’s death, Adelaide gave birth to stillborn twin boys, and possibly had another miscarriage that same year. Ultimately, they had no surviving children and when William died, the throne passed to his niece, Queen Victoria.

Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1836.
White cotton twill trousers with a satin finish. Fall-front with four metal button fastenings, worn by Lieutenant Horatio James (died 1850), later Commander. The flap fastens with two additional buttons. There is a fob pocket in the waistband. The pocket flaps also fasten with metal buttons, but are separate from the flap. There are four buttons along the top for braces. At the back there is one button on either side of the gusset to secure braces. The central back gusset also had two eyelets on either side with cotton tape to adjust the fit. (NMM).
King George IV died on 26th June 1830. A fortnight later his brother, William IV, ordered that the collars and cuffs of the dress coats of [Royal Navy] commissioned officers should be changed from white to scarlet, that three buttons should be placed under each of the pocket flaps, and that no gold lace should be worn on the trousers. His Majesty also gave breeches a final kick in the seat by decreeing that they should no longer be worn at king's or queen's drawing-rooms. Thus they made their exit from the naval officer's wardrobe.
[...] Trousers, however, remained problem garments. 'Doubts appearing to be entertained' as to when to wear white and when to wear blue, His Majesty was 'graciously pleased to command' that on all occasions of full dress officers should wear white trousers between 1st May and 14th October and blue trousers between 15th October and 30th April. In undress the decision was left to to the weather and the officer concerned, as it had been in the past.
— Dudley Jarrett, British Naval Dress

According to Crown & Sceptre by Tracy Borman, when William IV (Queen Victoria’s uncle) found out he was king, he drove his carriage in London for hours and startled passers-by by offering them a lift (!). I felt a mixture of emotions when I first read that. A mixture of was he crazy and that’s awesome.

Alexandra: Imagine if someone handed you a box full of all the things you lost throughout your life.
Charles John: It would be nice to have my sense of purpose back…
Carlota: Oh wow, my childhood innocence! Thank you for finding this.
William: My will to live! I haven't seen this in years.
Adelaide: I knew I lost that potential somewhere.
Maximillian: Mental stability, my old friend!
Alexandra: Jesus, could you guys lighten up a little?

Advice (4-11-23)
William IV watched Perseverance as they talked with Rocket and Sans Pareil. Perseverance was smiling, happy with their friends from the Rainhill Trials.
"You could just talk to them, you know." William IV jumped at the sharp voice of Fury, who had walked up beside him. William IV scoffed, cheeks tinted scarlet. Fury snorted, arching a thick brow and giving William IV an odd look.
"Fury!" The shorter man glanced behind him, and smiled. Venus was waving at him. "Come on! Rapid and Swiftsure are having a drinking contest again!" Fury turned to leave, glancing at William IV.
"Y'know, you should just tell Perse how you feel," He spoke quietly. "They just might feel the same way." He turned and jogged to where the others were waiting, leaving William IV with his thoughts.

On March 27th, 1819, Princess Charlotte Augusta Louise of Clarence was born in Hanover. Her parents, the future William IV and Princess Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, had been married in July of the previous year. The wedding was a result of the race among the unmarried sons of George III to provide an heir to the throne, after the only surviving, legitimate heir, Princess Charlotte of Wales, the daughter of the Prince Regent, died in childbirth along with her son.
Adelaide was only seven months pregnant at the time of Charlotte's birth, and had developed pleurisy during her pregnancy which led to the early delivery. The premature princess lived only a few hours, and was buried there in Hanover.
Her parents would have at least 3 other pregnancies, possibly 4, but ultimately had no surviving children.
