The biggest misconception in the bsd fandom ever to me is people constantly portraying Atsushi as someone who trauma dumps excessively when he canonically barely talks about it at all.

The entire point is that Atsushi does not talk about his trauma he’s just constantly thinking about/reliving it. He can’t escape the memories of his past so he tries not to acknowledge them.

He only mentions it when asked, either directly or when someone asks him to explain himself.

Atsushi doesn’t even give a cohesive explanation for what he saw while under Dogra Magra, he just apologizes to Haruno and Naomi.

If Lucy hadn’t had her whole “you’ve never suffered the way I have” spiel then I doubt even the audience would’ve gotten to find out about his scars

If Akutagawa never asked him how it felt for the orphanage headmaster to die Atsushi would have never told him that he’s been hallucinating.

In the omake where Kyoka asks him why his hair is like that it’s clear he wouldn’t have told her that unless she had asked.

In 55 minutes Atsushi very briefly mentions sleeping on a dirty floor somewhere to Kunikida because he was trying to explain and justify his behavior.

And the thing is that there are scenes that implies that the other characters see Atsushi behaving strangely and are visibly confused because they do not understand what’s wrong with him.

Remember, we as an audience get to see things about characters that the main cast doesn’t. Just because we see into Atsushi’s mind doesn’t mean the other characters know what’s going on in there.

Also little footnote here that I think this is a reference to the moon over the mountain but I digress

yeah i know what's up with mouthwashing now. I get the hype the story was really good.

have some thoughts so, spoilers for the game under the cut if you haven't played or seen it yet.

The OCs/sonas for workers is really funny though because a part of Daisuke's character is that, in the case of any reason they'd need to use them, there's only 4 cryostasis pods. but you guys are like "hmmm but what if there was only 4 cryostasus pods for 6 people? 🤔" which is funny to me. not a gripe or anything just funny to think about.

But that made me think of how Daisuke coming on as an intern in last minute placement was 1) part of the half assed job PonyExpress does with it's safety measures. and 2) part of Curly's character of taking chances on people even if that's NOT a good idea. because that's probably part of why he was friends with Jimmy so long and ended up actually enabling a lot of his shit head behavior (and trying to lessen the impact of what he did to Anya while they still had a long trip to take). like man the character dynamics and what brought everyone here to be a part of the shitshow was really well written.

the original idea for making a mouthwashing post is this though: I can make the whole thing very slightly even worse. "how?" you ask, "why?" you ask. well because i'm evil-ca-neevil like that. but specifically, Curly's hearing is deffinitely affected by the accident, his ears are as good as gone under the bandages on his head, because if his nose didn't really make, there's no way the ears did. but, what if on top of that, his eardrumbs burst. what if, for the entire time after the crash, he couldn't hear anything that happened around him; and was only really aware of whoever was in the medbay? he'd just have the way people's faces appear when they look at them or each other. if they say anything to him he'd have no clue unless they were looking at him while doing it. and I'd bet he's shit at lip reading.

the scene of the mock birthday party that Jimmy put together and put him on the table would be even worse. because that would be the only confirmation that everyone else is dead (he'd know Anya's death.

like, if he can hear, then the proximity between the scene where Daisuke is injured and the medbay would give him some of that, as well as whatever we miss between Swansea and Jimmy after the fact. but without being able to hear anything. he doesn't even get to have thoughts and opinions about how everything's happening. he can only, truly, watch. and not very well at that.

see my brain just doesn’t register the idea of anyone having a ‘one true love’ which is why the common fandom tropes of making canonical love interests terrible in order to justify why your ship is better always bugs the shit out of me. it feels like the only reason you would do that is if the idea of the characters in your ship having any other sort of romantic relationship that was important to them, even in the past, is a threat to their current one, therefore all their past relationships need to be demonized in order to make them ‘not real love’ so that they remain pure and chaste and ready for the True Love of the endgame ship.

i've been thinking a lot about how both hanne and nina experience a soul death and then a rebirth - hanne literally trades his body with rasmus, who is dead, and is "reborn;" nina states that her heart died with matthias and so she changes into mila.

and the crucial thing about this is that the grishaverse loves threes. it fucking loves the rule of threes. i've spoken on here previously about nina saying "in the next life" to matthias, i've spoken to @tovezza about matthias specifically saying in his own narrative that he has a lot of work to do- the phrasing i'm using is an abridged version. the way matthias actually says it mirrors the way rabbis and scholars of kabbalah speak of reincarnation, specifically saying that souls are reborn when there is "work to be done"

hanne and nina are the two visible points on this triangle, and it's worth noting that the work they're doing is not within their vision, but matthias; leigh herself has said she hopes matthias and nina can reunite in the next life.

so what i'm trying to say is matthias has been dead for like 1-2ish years by the end of rule of wolves. and in 20 or 17 years, nina and hanne are going to experience the funniest thing of all time
