Seven Sentence Sunday: Febuwhump Edition #2
Hoping to get a lot more of my Febuwhump stories out next week, so here are some random sneak peeks!
Day 9 (Voice Loss): They’d found Meliodas. That was the one and only good thing Gloxinia could take away from this.
Day 12 ("Can you hear me?"): "Dammit, Ban, stop kicking the dead and help me!" King's voice cracked at the end, desperation seizing his throat.
Day 26 (Forced to Choose): Zeldris wanted to kill Meliodas for this. Actually, that was exactly what he should do. That way, he wouldn’t have to deal with this problem in the first place.

so she is definitely a star of some kind. i mean she is an angel but in that story in particular The Stars are kind of angels. like they’re otherworldly beings and they jus kinda hang out. cosmically. it’s a different dimension separated from the human one but like, obviously stars still exist for humans, they just don’t do anything crazy because the rules of the world dictate that their realities shouldn’t interact. angels can observe the other world from far up above yet they still exist on a different level. But tbh zavijava had never enjoyed the otherworldly ethereal whatever lifestyle—she just didn’t feel like she fit in there. she is a #1 humans fan though so she knows that’s where she’d fit in. so she does just that. she fits in perfectly :) and normally :) yay :)

also i do still love the idea of swapping claire and leon's re2 scenarios but i cannot help but think that the scene with sherry and chief irons would have been a LOTTT worse with leon instead of claire

saw an exclusionist post so here's a reminder
specifically in reference to transmasc lesbians and trying to draw lines in the sand on who can and can't claim the lesbian label, about how being a lesbian is exclusive of loving men, with someone referring to the people they're attempting to exclude as "fandom gremlin transmascs and neo-mogai crazies."

I started playing a new save of Octopath Traveler today and I remembered Patrick Seitz is in this game
Unfortunately I have to wait because I’m doing it in the order of OCTOPATH, so he’s number 4
But I tell you I will be cheering whenever Olberic shows up
#Olberic was the 2nd Patrick Seitz character I had seen with the first being Dio#I was playing a new save and I heard him and was like “I swear I’ve heard his voice before”#and eventually I was like “wait is that the guy that plays Dio?” and I found out that it was and was like “oh hell yeah”#also fun fact: Olberic is the reason that after first seeing Dark Choco and Cacao I was like#“I can see one of them being voiced by Patrick Seitz”#and then Dark Cacao actually was and it made my day#but yeah I haven’t played OT since I started playing Cookie Run so we’ll see how that goes#although actually are there any other shared voice actors between the games? i don't make resolutions, but if i did
it would be to finish this fic
(and to be kind to myself for however long it takes to actually do so)
#i'm finishing it if it kills me#i know i've been writing this makeout scene for 3 weeks but baby that can't last forever#if we want to get deep and dark and serious for a second i do think a lot of my struggles to write lately have to do with engagement#and how incredibly low engagement has been on the last few things i've written#which like. is what it is. i'm not entitled to anybody's time or comments or kudos.#but when you write stuff you're proud of and it feels like it's barely getting read it's hard to keep momentum.#this isn't intended as a woe is me or whatever it's just kind of like. there. hovering.#happens enough times you start to wonder if it's you. am i just writing for the wrong fandom/ship?#(too bad if so. they're in my bones i'm writing for them and no one can stop me.)#but yeah. if you ever wonder if authors do care or notice about hits. comments. kudos. buddy i am here to tell you#not only do we care and FLOURISH we also notice when those things drop off and readers vanish#and it is a giant bummer. and sometimes makes us wildly paranoid about why that might have happened.#so if you liked a fic today--not even one of mine. just. anybody's. share it. comment on it.#kudos at the VERY least (cuz frankly kudos is there to be an 'i got to the end and this was nice' feature.#so when you get 500 hits and only like 30 kudos? it feels like 470 of those people hated your work)#anyway. that got out of hand. lil' too raw lil' too honest. happens when you let yourself ramble at 11:30 instead of sleeping#to sum: let your local fic writer know if they've made you happy#and as we go into 2024 i am swearing to myself that this fic (and probably several others) are getting finished#come hell. high water. or dishearteningly low engagement numbers.#(and then maybe we...actually work on something original. cuz why not. new year same old me but i'll do my best.)

Books of 2024: KILLING FLOOR by Lee Child.
This isn't a genre I typically read; HOWEVER!: my dream agent was on an episode of the Writing Excuses podcast about beginnings, and they said this one is Very Good, so I borrowed my dad's paperback copy to give it a whirl.
I'm low-key hoping this will help me sort out some Genre Issues™ I suspect I'm having with a writing project, too, which is a nice added bonus! Excited to see how this goes.
