I wanna make a dnd setting where the world is made up of different demi-planes that just so happen to connect. Some planes are suitable for habitation so cities pop up there while other demi-planes are their own self contained worlds with their own lore and creatures.
The problem with travel is that each plane has to be linked via portal, but there are HUB planes adventurers can access that allows them to travel to specific planes similar to an extraplanar airport.
It’s the internet. The whole thing is internet.

Preventing gear loss:
So you've done it, you've started your 1st fire with a ferro rod. You turn around to pick the ferro rod up and...
Tumblr media
Uhhhhhh, where did it go?
As someone that's spent a lot of time in the woods and lost a lot more small gear than I'd like to admit, it's easier to prevent than you think. Because in that picture, you can see the ferro rod I added this little ditty to. The standard black one is also in the picture, but it's not visible due to the leaf litter.
Tumblr media
Reflective, international orange 550 paracord is one of my favorite, yet completely overlooked pieces of gear. Nearly all my knives, small items, and even my bags have a loop of it somewhere. At night, it will reflect light excellently. Things you might set down or drop will be much easier to locate. During the day, the color is plenty unnatural enough to pop out even amongst the fallen leaves.
Even something as simply as orange electrical tape can help keep your gear more visible when on the ground.
Tumblr media
I tossed these 2 from my pocket over my shoulder, turned around, and there they are. Easily visible with the leaves.
This one was inspired by the excellent post by @thebushcraftlab keeping your goods visible will be a much more desirable outcome to losing and re-buying gear.

so i applied for a DREAM JOB and out of 6000 applicants!!! I ended up in the final 15 😟
…and I did SOOOOO soooooo well til the very last round 😔 i accidentally became privy to some scathing information from the judging panel. ouuuuuuuchhhh lol my insecurities.
proud of myself for being true to myself and getting far as i did, though.
#also i got covid so feeling a bit self pitying at the moment#i honestly have massive beef with their criticisms#i left this country when i was 5 and have ended up with a lot of cultural differences#sorry English ppl reading this but i feel like the UK is very caught up on appearances. for example:#it’s an outdoorsy job and the panel were unimpressed i didn’t come in my hiking boots + wet weather gear#umm…. yeah because we are SITTING INSIDE ON A SUMMER’S DAY???#it felt like posing to me? i grew up in rural NZ so I’ve spent majority of my life in the bush#PS most of the hiking boots i did see were obviously pristine and never taken on an actual hike 🙄#yes i own that stuff. no im not gonna wear it just to prove a point. i wore jeans and the same shoes ive been wearing while hiking across#europe these last 2 months.#also the NZ wilderness is so much more rugged like these hikes in UK/europe would barely count as a casual day walk to me#so our standards are very different#and we both left feeling quite unimpressed with each other I think#i’ll provide one more rant: one of the exercises involved wiring up a plug. i did it successfully but failed cos I didn’t plug it in after#well um. my mama is a scientist and taught me not to fuck with electricity unless i’m 100% sure#yes I did all the wiring right but it was still my first time so I’m being cautious. apparently that’s a bad thing 🤷‍♀️#enough rants from me but basically yeah lots of little things like that which I disagree with

Any conspiracy theory about people going missing in National Parks is automatically silly to me. Like "Why are National Parks such a hotbed of disappearances???" because they're full of idiots. You've got thousands of people who've never pissed outdoors in their life wandering around the woods/desert/mountain with zero experience and zero gear and zero understanding that this place can kill them. You don't see as many disappearances in wild areas because people don't go to them unless they have some background knowledge. Whereas you get tour buses full of old folks and suburban families shuttling people into National Parks 365 days a year. If you took the same amount of buffoons and dropped them in the actual wilderness the disappearances would be significantly higher than at the parks. Use your brain.
