Look, if it explains anything, technically I was raised by a flock of geese, a flock of chickens, a flock of ducks, a flock of budgies and a flock of quails. My nickname is a type of bird I can imitate well because that's what was available to communicate with.

I was a wild little savage running through the forest with my attack geese to keep me safe (the chickens never wandered far from the roost). I can see 20+ bird themed things from where I'm sitting. I'm printing a blue jay on my printer right now.

I was never really taught how to human and it shows. I tuck my smaller colleague under my arm when they're overwhelmed. I hiss when people get too close. I hide when there's a loud noise or a stranger.

So if you ever do reach out and are met only with confused silence or the wary look of an animal that knows it's only prey, it's not you.

It's me. I'm more bird than person. Be grateful I don't hiss.

Since today is my birthday, I am going to force my followers to look at my fanart of my five favorite Princesses from Slay the Princess.

First I sketched them in pencil.

Then I decided that it wasn't good enough and I traced over them digitally so that I could color them (with my headcanons for what colors they would be if they existed in color.) Also I did change the poses of Happily Ever After and the Adversary a bit. It's a bit rough and not perfect because I'm not very used to digital art, but I tried my best.

Below the cut I'll explain why I picked these five specifically. (Slay the Princess spoilers below the cut.)

Obviously I have a lot of other favorite Princesses (Nightmare, the Den post-Pristine Cut, the Stranger, ect. ect.) but I needed to narrow it down to five so they'll all fit on the page, and I decided on these five for the following reasons:

The Wounded Wild: The route that made me the most emotional. The second time I got her was the only route that made me cry (specifically the second time, because that time I got her from directly attacking and fighting Witch, which I discovered is my favorite way to get to the Wild.) You have to hurt each other so much to get here, then you have the opportunity to just forgive everything and be one with her, but you choose not to and she becomes completely defenseless, her body falling apart. But then I always choose to save her and cut her free. I have never killed her, and I don't think I ever will.

The Spectre: My Princess blorbo <3. I like how much character development she can get depending on what you do with her. My favorite thing to do with her will always be helping her, but the way her entire personality changes if you refuse is extremely tasty to me. I enjoy her ripping my heart out and screaming about how this isn't who she wanted to be.

The Cage: She has my favorite design (the aesthetic of a chained-up headless body carrying her own head in a birdcage goes so hard.) Also her route is just extremely cool. Also if I had to pick a Princess who I relate to the most, I would pick her (psychoanalyze me to your heart's content.)

Happily Ever After: The most well-written route (in my opinion.) Just an objectively very good and meaningful route.

The Adversary: She was my very first Princess so I will always be biased. Also she's hot. Also I enjoy the extreme violence as a love language themes going on. I will ship Adversary/Voice of the Stubborn forever <3

I enjoy the implication in Origins that Zevran isn't a very good fighter when we meet him and then after Origins he was utterly terrorizing the Crows. All the levels he gained in the Warden's party actually made him a canonically, significantly more dangerous fighter than he was when the Warden met him.

i have been looping it again today, and normally there’s a sense of peace that comes with this song. i struggle to describe it- it just feels healing to me usually.

but today? nah i’m sobbing today. it just hit in such an ugly, desperate, painful way. and i don’t mean those words in a bad way, i love that it’s making me feel so strongly in such an opposite direction. but it really caught me off guard lol

If we made a team of every character Steve Gerber wrote for, we'd have one hell of a Defenders or Howard the Duck issue. I can see it now, honestly. But first, I'll list the many characters Steve Gerber wrote for at least more than once:

Steve Gerber wrote (according to his wikipedia page) Daredevil, Shanna the She-Devil, Captain America, Man-Thing, Morbius, The Defenders (Doctor Strange, The Hulk, Valkyrie, Nighthawk, Namor, Red Guardian and sometimes Luke Cage), The Living Mummy, She-Hulk, Daimon Hellstrom (Son of Satan), Howard the Duck, Hawkeye, the original Guardians of the Galaxy and Omega, the unknown.

That's a lot of weird characters who have no business being together, but I would read a giant comic featuring all of them. I think it would be the weirdest thing, and yet also somehow the coolest thing ever. I mean...Morbius, Howard the Duck, The Defenders and Man-Thing? That's already a recipe for insanity and chaos. And if we're including characters like the rock band KISS (whom he wrote a few comics about), then everything can get even weirder.

i love it sm when horror movie actors go. yeah i based my performance on my parent and what they were like. and then you watch the movie and it's a role based around being creepy and off-putting and omnipresent ❤️

I would totally read a good Lizzie going quasi-Munchausen By Proxy on Tommy. Starts with something small, a cold that she overreacts to and treats like it's deadly; Tommy knowing but letting her because he's tired, taking the pills, taking the pills. Lizzie realising he's letting her but incrementally testing these boundaries with more and more removal of (self) control and independence. Until one day they realise it's all too late to exit this strange and horrible thing they've created.

Could totally go for this with Polly instead of Lizzie, too.

i managed to pet romy today, and she hunched down at first, but then she got back up and actually bumped her head into my hand! progress!

Ive been thinking about Sol being basically equivalent to a large cat like a mountain lion who people think they've tamed but she eventually just snaps recently.

Wild animals who are put in cages and forced to be trained into being a lap pet. Sols just a caged animal in that kind if way.

We’re halfway through moving across the country this week, which means my gaming computer is packed up and completely inaccessible for at least the next couple of weeks.

Needless to say, I’m absolutely losing my mind over not getting to see any of the new BG3 patch any time soon…..

there was a hawkfish at the store I pet store I worked at that had been there for 5+ years and the head of the department and I were having a conversation about how glibly people will speak about the fish that have died in their care (it was so common to have a parent come in and "replace" all the pleco's because they messed up while cleaning the tank and the kids due home from school in a few hours) and what kind of policy we could potentially have to educate and curb the idea that we would just keep supplying new fish when there was clearly a lack of willingness to change behaviors (like the same people would come in over and over and laugh about "accidentally" killing another beta fish and it's like maybe don't say that so loudly and unashamedly in the place you're coming to get another one) anyway the guy pointed to the hawkfish and reminded me that the fish was smarter than any of the other pets in the store but because we couldn't hear it speak we didn't honor it's intelligence and i just think about fish and their lives a lot differently after that
