Writing update time, at long last.

I finally got to 12,000 words in Foxglove Dust! ...Yes I did get to 10,000 words well over two months ago, writing has been hard okay. Anyway I am now finally writing regularly again and actually having fun with it, so it should take a lot less time for me to get to 14,000 words than it did to get to 12,000, hopefully.

I was originally going to post an excerpt with this, but I overthought it too much, so that will have to wait. I know I must be too anxious to post writing when I start being afraid people will think my writing is both misogynistic (for having too many male characters) and homophobic (for having a line that implies Tievis assumes Asen is gay just by looking at him.) Anyway maybe in a few days I'll have calmed down enough to post it.

He would endure the social discomfort and the hot tavern and the overpriced alcohol if it meant spending more time with Ashenivir. Words still failed him, but he could show with his presence how much their relationship meant to him, how deeply and dearly he wanted to be a part of Ashenivir’s life.

Even if that meant finding out what ‘fun drinks’ were.

So last night some people might have seen a poll I had up for an hour or so. It was about the fact that I reblog Deltarune stuff onto my sideblog but Slay the Princess and Scarlet Hollow stuff go on this blog, and being inconsistent like that bothers me so I made the poll to ask what I should do with video game reblogs. But I deleted the poll because the results so far made me break down to an embarrassing extent.

Of course, the sample size of people who were not myself who voted was like four so I really shouldn't have gotten so upset about it, but the option that was winning was to keep doing what I've been doing, although I said in the post that it was bothering me. Don't make polls for other people to make decisions for you when you already know what you want to do. But I am incapable of making changes without being told what to do, hence why I made the poll.

Anyway the purpose of this post is to update what I'm actually going to do with video game reblogs going forward. The thing I originally wanted to do was to move Deltarune reblogs onto this blog and have all video game reblogs here because I like spreading the stuff I like onto more people, but in the poll I was literally the only person who voted for that option. So I don't want to do that anymore since now I feel like none of my followers who follow me on this blog and not my sideblog care about me or my interests. So instead I'm going to start reblogging Slay the Princess and Scarlet Hollow stuff onto my sideblog. I'm not going to go with the option that was actually winning because I hate it, but clearly you guys really don't want to see Deltarune, so now you won't have to see any of my fandoms then. All my interests and personality will be sequestered away onto my sideblog for only literally two people to see. The rest of you will get writing-related stuff and nothing else. Please follow me on @phantasmalfelix if you actually want to see anything I reblog besides writing-related stuff.

Do you sleep through the night usually? Any dreams?

Edwin: I am quite a sound sleeper. If I will dream, it's likely a dream of Annalise. Finlay: I dream a lot, but I don't often wake in the night. I'm told I fidget a lot, too. My sister pushed me out of bed for it when we were kids.

What would you eat right now if you could eat anything?

Edwin: Right now? Hm. I'm afraid I'm not hungry. Perhaps come lunchtime I'll be able to answer you. Finlay: My Ma makes the best crusty bread I've ever eaten. Warm out of the stove with some butter melting on top, it's like slices of heaven.

As they neared the woodland, Edwin found himself humouring a thrill of trepidation. This machine had attacked Finlay, and may have leapt at him and Samara. If indeed it was Ireland's machine, it had a known critical fault and may have developed more. It could be unpredictable. The behaviours Finlay seemed so certain of weren't theoretically possible—but there was always the chance that they could be the product of unexpected malfunctions and unconsidered connections. They could be entirely true. Which meant the machine could be actively aggressive, and he could be leading Finlay right back into its claws.

^ said by dear old Barajas. I'm pretty sure Barajas + Tomboy could kill Latte before her army of killer robots could get them, ngl. They've got better melee fighting stats than her, and it's hard to get robots to shoot at the people currently shanking you.

My Rimworld Colony!! (Aka Latte and the gang)

I love them so much :) Clockwise from the top:

Latte, God's Specialest Princess

↑ Her ingame appearance. She's the colony's mechanitor and the faction leader. Sharpshooter, crafter, and EXTREMELY reluctant medic, she's the pillar of the colony. If she goes off the rails everyone is doomed. Has Mommy Issues™, Sister Issues™, and (adoptive) Daughter Issues™.

Despite what she thinks of herself, and the occasional lock-up-your-sister-and-starve-her incidents, she is actually a kind person. She's just under a lot of stress and makes bad choices sometimes. Also prone to binge eating.

Technically, she has a negative impression of literally everyone except her mom (who hates her) because of the industrial vs lazy debuff, but I hate what that implies so I pretend I doesn't exist :) Here's her ref sheet!

Beatface, the World's Ugliest Kid

She showed up at the ripe old age of 3, all alone with nobody to care for her. We dyed her hair brown because it looked ugly when it was grey and it turned grey again not long after. Everyone except Latte hates her because she's ugly and Latte hates her because Latte hates everyone.

She's kind, has a memory so great she can still remember watching her parents die, and is our budding artist! Everyone loves Beatface, the world's ugliest kid. Except the rest of the colony.

Peppy Who Is A Doctor, Yes Yes

Yess, Peppy is a doctor. Peppy does not shoot or kill people, she heals. Knife in her hand? What are you talking about? Peppy good, Peppy heal people. Peppy Is A Doctor, yes yes.

All jokes aside, Peppy is the worst of the colony's doctors and the best of its melee fighters. She straight up started off with a double passion+8 skill in melee (compare and contrast to our second best fighter, Tomboy's single passion 4 in melee) and a single passion + 0 in medical work. We let her do it anyways because we were so short on doctors and Tomboy kept getting her ass kicked in fights.

She's 16 and a teenage runaway from an urbworld colony. Essentially, she pissed off the wrong mob boss, and snuck aboard a ship to escape getting her ass kicked, not realising she was gonna get dumped on a Rimworld. She and Barajas are good buddies from back in the fighter kurin clan, thanks to both of them thinking the cult is absolute bullshit.

Aiya the mighty Fighter and FleshSlayer

I need you to look at this bitch's stats. She tried to attack us ON HER OWN, with a double 0 in both shooting and melee. The colony pacifist can fight better than her. But alas, she's also our best researcher and medic. Throws hissy fits constantly because she pisses everyone off and wants Latte's bedroom. Supergenius chihuahua who fancies herself a pitbull.

In chinese, the term aiya is used as an expression of dismay. That was exactly what I felt when, approximately thirty seconds after we recruited her, she had a mental breakdown and attacked a megasloth, resulting in her and Peppy's deaths + me being forced to savescum in pure rage. I gave her blue eyes because the Lonely Child background states she's blue eyed.

I imagine she and Peppy are unexpected besties, because they're each other's ideal self. Teenage messes for life.

Tab the Traumatised

Tab's life really sucks. She's a sweet lil pacifist, good at medical work, animal husbandry, and crafting. She's also a lesbian whose girlfriend is dead. And she has a very male fiance who despises her. And she was, up until Latte emancipated her, a slave. Because said male fiance sold her off to slavery.

She doesn't have much friends except Grump, the other emancipated slave, but she misses Sarai, her girlfriend/Latte's dead sister, dearly. Everyone misses Sarai.

Genevieve Hurley, but just call me Barajas

Tomboy's daughter and the pruner of the local Gauranlen tree. She's a deft shooter, almost as smart as Aiya, and also has Mommy Issues.

See, Tomboy gave birth to her at age 13, and was both utt incredibly overprotective of her. So she ran away about it, hoping to find her father. She didn't, but she did find his name, so it's hers now and she won't let anyone call her Genevieve, except her mother on the rarest of occasions.

She also has two pet Nectarmaker dryads called Marshmallow and Hudsy.

Grump the Grump

She is what it says on the tin. At almost 40 years old, she's pur oldest colonist and also our only decent constructor/cook. A slave since birth, she used to tend to spaceships with her mother, until she managed to break free and run away. This got her nowhere except in the prison of our colony.

She's missing a leg because she tried to beat up Tomboy, and has a peg leg because of it. She also absolutely hates everyone in the clan except Tab for completely valid reasons. As far as anyone can tell she only hangs around the colony because it's got good food and better beds than going back into slavery.

Tomboy, a Human Foxgirl

My secons colonist and foil to Latte. She's smart, social, a mom who gave her daughter mommy issues, and was imprisoned for over a year before Latte's incompetent ass convinced her to join the colony out of pity.

She was an underappreciated part of her old kurin clam, so when her daughter ran away, she chased after her without a second thought. When her daughter fell from the sky she thought she was the luckiest bitch in the world.

Fell from a crashpod and tried to murder Latte several times. Did a better job of it than Aiya, who she sees as a slightly irritating little apprentice.

Latte!!

You will not believe the absolute chokehold this woman has on me. I have written 3000 words, drawn her over and over again, and fallen asleep thinking about her every night since I came up with her

Anyways as y'all should know, she's one of my colonists in my latest Rimworld playthrough! For those who don't know, Rimworld is a sweet little base management sim where you can have cannibal cults, lock people up and starve/torture them until they become your new colonists, and a variety of other wonderful things! Alas, Latte is too kind to do most of those things and is horrified and disgusted with herself when she has to.

This is her in game + her stats:

She's also a mechanitor, which means she has a little army of robots to do her bidding, and the big boss of the colony. She has absolutely NO passion in medical work, but due to everyone else's frequent fuckups, she's had to do a lot of medical work. She also has no friends.

Beyond what she's been burdened with by the game, I gave her mommy issues :) Her mother is the only person she has a positive outlook on in the entire game (she is absolutely neutral with the other colonists), but her mother hates her because of her fox ears. They're unnatural and an abomination against God, you see.

See, little Latte happens to fancy herself a foxgirl. (Yes, those are a thing in Rimworld. Yes, it's a mod.) And she spawned with cosmetic fox ears but no cosmetic fox tail, so she's only half through her transition. I'm sure she copes with that well. :)

My headcanon is her mother kicked her out of the house when she saw Latte's surgery, and Latte set up a colony while hoping to find the rest of her family and be loved by them instead. She did get reunited with them, by the way! I'm about to write that bit in Better Latte than Never.

I love her so much she's everything to me :) my traumatised, poor lil meow meow

I haven't done a tag game that wasn't a writing share type in probably well over six months, so here's something different. I'm probably not the best person to do this one since I only have like four OCs at this point, but I'm doing it anyway. Most Likely to:

Kill Someone On Accident: Tievis, 100%. There's no way he hasn't already accidentally killed anyone, considering the whole practicing medicine without a license thing.

Kill Someone On Purpose: Skavsa. She was so close to snapping Tievis's neck and eating him in Snakeskin.

Commit Tax Fraud: Tievis. He's the only human so he's the only one who needs to pay taxes anyway, and he's probably not paying all the taxes he should be on his "clinic."

Get Stuck in a Tree: Nameless. I love them, but they're not always the brightest, and they barely know what a tree is anyway at the beginning of Faded Daisy.

Eat 25 Eggs in One Sitting: Skavsa. She prefers raw meat, but she'd make do with eggs if she had to.

Get Arrested: Nameless. Faded Daisy literally starts with them in jail. Tievis has the most things he should be arrested for though.

Get Turned Into a Frog by a Witch: No one, there are no witches :(
