I want to hear your thoughts about Orym and Ashton's latest conversation, if you don't mind. Ugh, I can't find the post, but you wrote something along the lines of Orym often wanting to move on from things too fast, to gloss over problems that BH actually need to sit and process over. Him telling Ashton to "not spend time grappling with their demons bcs he needs their hands free to fight" sounds just like it and as sweet as that forehead kiss was, the rest of the talk feels like a soldier pep talk (which very in character).
I do think that's kind of what Ashton needed to hear, though.
So I have to disagree that it's what Ashton needed to hear; I think it's absolutely what Ashton doesn't need to hear. I think this post of mine is relevant.
The thing that got through to Ashton previously was Chetney essentially saying "if you can't keep your shit together enough not to hurt other people, you should leave," but Chetney, notably, still grapples with his demons, or at least his werewolf, concurrently with working with the group.
Again, the thing with Orym is that he is dealing with loneliness and grief, and distracting himself from those by focusing on a mission actually is pretty productive, because Will is irrevocably gone and will not come back so dwelling on that will only hurt. But Ashton does, in fact, need to wake up every morning and say "I see you, self-loathing, and you're going to be there and I'm not going to do stupid things simply because I don't like myself" but that is, in my opinion, an ongoing grappling with demons. Ashton needs to be told "we care about you, and don't fuck it up" but probably should not be told that they need to be there to fight. Again thinking about Chetney as sort of an opposing approach to Orym, but the "hey, if you want out, you can talk to me" and "you're here, that's a start" is far more important than, as you said, the soldier pep talk. Obviously Ashton should not be made to self-flagellate - truly, one cannot self-flagellate one's self out of self-loathing - but "you're allowed to have your demons along with you so long as you do not give into the worst of them" is a much better message than "push that down for now, we need you to fight." A soldier pep talk is not the right approach.
Ok so I asked my beloved moot to do it when she was taking requests here, but the more Jonathan in 1D edits the merrier!
Here he is in the one thing mv
And now here he is playing guitar with Niall cause I’m continuing the Byran stuff (1D Jonathan has lore now ok? See the prev tags of the first 1d Jonathan edit linked above for more information)
Not to defend James Vowles but y'all do realise that when he said Mick isn't special he didn't mean "Mick is a loser and I hate him and also he sucks at driving". Like you do realise that right?
To me that very much comes across as a poorly worded way of saying "Mick's a good driver, sure, but he's not the kind of one in a million driver who's so good that you'd put him in an unfamiliar car with no FP1 sessions, no sim time, and the risk that the team he's already got a contract with could take him away the second they need him, leaving us to find yet another replacement. Given those risks, we'd rather go with someone we already have a contract with who we've at least had the chance to give some sim time to so he knows what to expect and we know what to expect"
what implications do u think the amelia investigations episode (possibly) being last has......
thinking about it im not sure implications is the word i was really looking for, rather i think theres like. a particular weight, to me, in placing her episode as the last one (presuming, of course, that there are only 5 episodes in investigations like is generally whats being assumed. for all we know though there could be more than that but thats the assumption im working off of)
ive always read the lack of any particularly tangible details about her pre-plane life, let alone the lake of an actual disappearance scene for her, as a means of further alienating her from her previous life. It drives in this wedge between Amelia and Scenty, such that even though shes probably the most vocal (at least throughout s1) about wanting to go home, her desire is countered by the fact that pretty much her entire existence in the show is defined by exclusively her time on the plane. The lack of a background for her (as absolutely crazy as it drives me) does play a pretty notable role in how her relationship to earth and the plane and herself are laid out.
This, in my mind, creates a bit of an interesting situation for investigations to play with. seemingly, investigations kinda requires an exploration into everyone's pre-plane lives, a certain insight into their lives that amelia just doesnt have. so, unless they do something a bit radical in the presentation of that episode in particular, youd have to explore her old life on some level without undermining the dynamic with it that we already have. I guess the most obvious answer is that it wont be amelia telling her own story to the audience. We wont be hearing her explain or be in her perspective, we'll be hearing from (presumably) garret. Its a story about her that isnt her story to tell. even when we do finally get to see it, her life, her disappearance isnt hers. not really. and i think placing it last in the sequence, the final mystery to unravel, the hardest answer to get, implies at the very least an acknowledgement of that.
but i do have a degree in Reading Into Things so like. who knows. maybe thats just what i want
every day I am in Agony over the fact that widomauk is the first kiss of the campaign, Caleb kissed Molly back in the very end, the literal last scene between King and Caleb is them flirting and King is still so utterly enamored with his Magician, and I just wish...there was any mention of those feelings in the wrap up or a q and a or anything. Absolutely begging Taliesin to tell us what Molly/King feels for Caleb--why he chose to make King's last moments on screen him being explicitly attracted to Caleb, and whether we will ever get to see him revisit those feelings one day...
liam’s anu-kite induced hallucination in triggers being a flashback to when he was a scared fourteen year old boy who couldn’t protect himself against a group of people who were supposed to be on his team rather than one about theo, the guy who once tried and almost got liam to kill one of the most important people in his life while shifted and was planning on killing him next even though becoming a monster that hurts people is one of liam’s greatest fears. theo actually being the one who pulls liam out of his head and keeps him from killing someone and talks to him about why he gets so angry when he’s really feeling afraid. layers. guys there are layers.
something something a fanfic in which Ian is best friends with Yevgeny and then he timetravel and falls in love with his best friend's father.
I like to think that in this version he was raised by Clayton cause Monica obviously couldn't, and canonlike she wasn't in the picture much. He then lives with his father, stepmother and siblings but doesn't quite fit with them. Yev was raised by Svetlana and never knew his father cause he left when Yev was a baby.
When Ian travels back he is saved by Mandy. He says he's a Gallagher and she's like "I know the Gallaghers but I never saw you!". He's introduced to his "cousins" who immediately take he in like a brother? Who he is cause of Monica.
Then because of Mandy he gets to know Mickey and younger Svetlana and baby Yev and it is extremely fucked but... my dick's in your dad mouth, sorry Yev!
Gallavich: they start as friends cause Ian quickly hits off with Mandy, and soon Ian gets to understand the difficult situation that led to Yevgeny's conception and why Mickey probably left them when Yev was still a baby. Then, feelings come along and Mickey's deep in the closet but Ian's nothing if open-minded so with time it works out. Ian doesn't lose interest even though Mickey has a wife and baby, he isn't scared off easily, and Yev Svet and Mandy all like him so that's a turn on. Ian likes older guys so the fact that Mickey's an old soul in a hot young body who listens to dad music and is grumpy is what attracts Ian.
The future is forever altered. Ian now actually has a family of Gallagher's he actually likes and fits. Ian came along so Mickey never left the picture and now Yev was raised with his father around. Which changed the way Yev grew up to be, so he's not the version Ian knew, but that's alright cause then Ian gets to meet him again. And yes, they end up being best friends all the same, after all, Yevgeny watch the type of cartoons and listens to the kind of music and plays the same videogames Ian grew up with so they're very close.
I don't hate or get annoyed by BiscuitBites/Nuzi as a ship, I just don't care much for most ships in general (besides PinkLemonade/Vizzy because personally I think their dynamic is really cute ok??)
And I'm not irritated that Nuzi is becoming canon like a lot of people are complaining about, Murder Drones is not becoming a shipping-focused show because of this, this episode had probably the most horror and emotional scenes by far... I'm happy shipping wars will be over and I'm happy that people are voicing out their happiness that the ship is canon! Yippee! People are happy, everything is good, and I'm not irritated by that!
What I do find irritating about some Nuzi shippers is that I'll have actual tears running down my face from reading a V memoriam post and then scroll down to see some people saying that they "didn't care V died that much and that they're glad that V is dead to completely set in stone Nuzi as a ship".
Most of the main cast of characters were comfort characters for me and this is a shot in the heart because I loved V as a character. Even though I was kind of emotionally hurt by the last scene, I really do think a sacrifice was a good call by Liam. That won't stop me from being sad however. But PLEASE, I don't want to see people complaining about how everyone's upset over V's death and not putting enough focus on Nuzi confirmation (which both statements are super untrue, both get a respective amount of attention)
Like I understand why some people wouldn't be super upset about the (presumably) V death, you can voice your own opinion and not be too emotionally affected by the death and I'm not judging you for that, but when I see people get to the point where they're judging and kind of shaming people for getting stressed or anxious or generally upset at a character death? It kind of kills me. Please stop beatboxing I'm crying on the floor
Though a lot of Nuzi shippers I see aren't like this and I'm so happy about that, it's super nice to see that!!!! I've seen some of the most amazing works of this community come from Nuzi people and I still respect them so much because they're still people and part of this fandom even though I don't directly care much for the ship itself anymore, I'm not judging anyone based on their favorite robot pairings (UNLESS YOU'RE LIKE. A PROSHIPPER. ICK. OFF WITH YOU.) :)
