i love whimsy!reader soso much… i was wondering if rafe joins in on making tea blends or perfumes w her or jus hovers over her making sure she doesnt make a mess? also i would love to read whimsey!reader making him some sort of cologne unprompted nd his reaction cause we all know this boy is feining for some attention and praise….
hello lovely nonnie thank u so much for this !!! not proofread so pls ignore typos c:
i think in the beginning he’d try to, kind of like it being his way of wooing her or impressing her. whimsy would think it’s just sooo sweet that he’s willing to do something that she loves so much, and would just give him free rein to do whatever he wants. the issue arises when it becomes glaringly obvious that he’s actually shit at choosing notes and complementary scents. his candles end up smelling like bog water and the mini perfumes he make seem to evaporate before they’re even on skin.
i think there’d be a similar issue with tea, starting with the fact that this man simply does not drink tea in the first place. i feel like he’s more of a coffee guy as it is, so green/black tea just never sounded appetising. HOWEVER. i think he falls in love with whimsy’s chai. like it’s got that milky element that he likes, it’s got the caffiene, and it just tastes that fucking good. his favourite would be her version of kashmiri chai; the little boy in him feels emasculated over ever enjoying a pink drink, but his tastebuds win him over everytime he takes a sip.
now whenever she is actively making her lil potions, rafe hovers. he’s a hover-er. he watches everything like a hawk; making sure her hands don’t get too close to any open flames, moving any jars she’d precariously left near the corners of her table. he’d always be reminding her to wear her gloves and apron and has that ‘disappointed dad’ expression whenever she accidentally burns herself whilst making candles. with the perfumes, he can’t stand to be in the room for too long, all the fumes and smells giving him a headache. he’s always asking whimsy how she can even survive in there, then realises he needs to start taking her out for fresh air whenever she becomes too absorbed; he wonders if the gases have had some sort of effect on her.. bc it would for one explain her ‘weirdness’.
he’s very good at collecting all her dried flowers though ^_^ i think his favourite thing to do is bag all the rose petals and organise her drawer of tea blends. he’d surprise her with expensive tea plants that he’d especially gotten imported just for her </3
if she were to gift him with a cologne out of nowhere, he’d literally be speechless. so that’s why he wasn’t allowed in her studio (he was like a lost puppy just sitting outside her door begging to be let in). she’d be like “just wanted to give my sun a little stardust. i tried to make it smell like things that remind me of you.” it’s literally the most thoughtful gift anyone’s ever gotten him, and his heart stutters painfully when she reveals it’s called ‘ray.’ a perfume for him, under her nickname for him. (you just know she got it good that night….)
you can bet your ass he’s going around shoving it under everyone’s noses. “look what m’girl made me. yeah, she’s reaaal talented, she’s uh — she’s good at what she does. n-no. no, she doesn’t take requests, the fuck…”

Pakistani Steve Harrington
Steve likes coffee but he doesn't like regular tea. He will only drink pink tea.
His father used to make it back when his grandparents would visit semi regularly.
And it was Steve's favourite drink.
His father had actually shown him how to make it.
Not that Steve could remember the last time they'd had it together, or seen each other for that matter.
Kid Steve had thought it was like drinking happiness, and older Steve thinks little him was onto something.
And he knew some people who needed some happiness.
It was awkward standing their in the hospital with a tray of mugs, his arms were very much protesting at his decision.
Eddie looked at him, amused while Wayne sighed good naturedly and helped him put the tray down on a table.
"I thought you weren't meant to be pushing yourself?" Asked Wayne, Steve attempted to look sheepish.
It didn't work to well but Wayne just shook his head, a fondness in his eyes.
They'd gotten to know each other after Wayne thanked him for keeping his rascal of a nephew alive.
"Whats this?" Asked Eddie, nosey as ever. Trying to peer at the mugs and seeing bright pink liquid inside.
Steve wondered momentarily if the Munsons would make fun of him for a "girly" looking beverage.
But shook that thought away.
"The nurse said you should try drinking something warm, so I bought some tea." Explained Steve. "Why's it pink?" Asked Eddie, no judgement in his voice just curiosity.
And yet Steve braced himself, he was getting better at talking about his culture but it was usually just to the other teens and the kids.
His King Steve days were long behind him but he was afraid he'd be made fun off.
"When my family would get together, we'd have this tea. Its proper name is Kashmiri Chai, but we just called it pink tea. I dunno why it's pink though.
Dustin and Mike said you love sweet food and it's plenty sweet. And... It makes me happy when I drink it so I thought... Why not."
Steve wasn't looking at Eddie or Wayne at this point, looking down into the tea before him... Maybe this was a mistake.
His spiraling didn't last long before Eddie, somehow without pulling any stitches, reached over and pulled him into a hug.
"That, is the sweetest thing anyone has done for me. Pun not intended." Smiles Eddie, Steve couldn't see a trace of mockery in his eyes and relaxed.
Wayne softened "sounds good kid, looks like you made a lot."
Steve nodded "one for each of us and than one for the kids, max if she's up for it, Nancy, Jonathan, Robin, Argyle Hopper...." He trailed off seeing both Munsons giving him the look.
"Man you really don't know how to relax, do you?" Said Eddie, wide eyed. Steve shrugged, wincing slightly "it's nothing."
Wayne shook his head "you are something else kid..." He said before handing a mug to the boys and getting his own.
"Huh, I'm not usually one for sweet stuff but this is good." Said Wayne.
Steve smiled, looking over at Eddie feeling some of his anxiety leave him.
Eddie's eyes widened, he put the mug down and dramatically flopped on his bed. "Steve, I thought you made me tea. Not the nectar of the God's!"
Seeing Steve's confused face, Eddie softened "It's great, thanks Steve." Steve smiled, putting his down.
"Your welcome, I better get these to the kids before they hunt me down." He wasn't kidding, somehow they always knew when Steve had any treats on him.
Tea included.
"Alright, but than you sir are coming back here and drinking your lovely tea and taking a break." Said Eddie, Wayne nodded.
Steve chuckled "sure" he went off to the kids who as predicted all lit up at the mention of pink tea and were making grabby hands before Steve could put the tray down.
With a pointed look that they all ignored, Steve handed out the mugs.
It was in the mugs that they had all claimed at Steve's.
"Wait... Steve did you carry these all here?!" Asked Dustin, looking from the tray to Steve's still injured arms.
Quick as a flash, Steve vanished before the group could hound him for not "taking care of himself."
Whatever that meant.
Wayne chuckled as Steve burst in. Steve noticed that they'd waited for him, and began sipping his own tea with the Munsons.
Father had always said pink tea was best drank with the people you cared about.
Steve agreed.
(Did I write this purely cos I'm drinking pink tea now... Yes)

Tea Stalls And Lahore Chai Culture In Pakistan
Tea is considered the most popular beverage in Pakistan, and people understand this very well when they move abroad and find tea, their excitement for tea says it all. The way Pakistanis appreciate tea is far more beautiful than any other drink. If you sit next to any tea lover and listen to how they describe their emotions about tea, you can fall in love with it before tasting it. The more interesting fact about tea culture in Pakistan is that almost 15% of the total expenditure in every household is reserved for tea. Similarly, in Pakistan, you’ll find different types of tea, but the most popular types of tea in Pakistan are milk tea, pink tea, also known as Gulabi chai or Kashmiri tea, and green tea. Lastly, the use of cardamom in tea is considered the most elite thing that cheers up the mood of every tea lover.
Origin Of Tea In Pakistan
The tradition of drinking tea in Pakistan is ancient and dates back to when Britishers entered the subcontinent for trade purposes. So these traders introduced the concept of drinking tea, and later on, different subcontinent areas (the areas that currently lie in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan) started cultivating tea. Hence, over time, drinking tea became the most widespread habit among natives, and tea boards started advertising campaigns for its promotion.
After the partition in 1947, the subcontinent was divided, and the population became tea addicted. Since Pakistan does not conduct large-scale tea production, they import the tea leaves from Bangladesh and worldwide.

The Reasons Why Pakistanis Adore Tea
The reason Pakistanis are in love with tea is due to its simplicity, uniqueness, aroma, and bond that unites friends and family. It is the cup of tea that reunites the broken heart. When friends are angry with each other, they can quickly patch things up by discussing their concerns over a cup of tea.
Similarly, the tea culture in Pakistan does not see the classes. When it comes to tea cravings, no matter what expensive car you are sitting in, even the elite class people can quickly get tea from any ordinary roadside tea stall. Hence, the simplicity of drinking tea makes the tea culture in Pakistan very impressive yet interesting.
Another reason for the rise of chai culture in Pakistan is that it is the cheapest beverage everyone can easily afford. In Pakistan, the price of tea varies from very low to very high, and it depends on the class of the restaurant. You can drink the tea from 15/- PKR to 150/- PKR, depending on the place from where you are taking it. Similarly, now you can easily order tea online from any nearby restaurant from Foodnerd. Pk.Hence, if many guests suddenly visit you and you do not have enough milk, tea, or gas shortage in your home, don’t worry. Just order tea online from foodnerd. Pk and arrange the best Hi-tea gathering with your guest by ordering side items such as samosa, bakery items, etc., that always compliment the tea.
Best Types Of Tea Every Pakistani Love
Tea remains undoubtedly the most popular drink in Pakistan. Pakistanis love to consume tea, whether it is a hot summer afternoon or a cold winter night. Well, in all seasons, Pakistanis love to drink Karak tea. However, in winters or especially on rainy days, pink tea (Kashmir tea/chai) hits differently. It is the best and most popular type of tea and is very tasty to consume. Similarly, milk tea is also the best type of tea in Pakistan, and it can be easily made with black tea leaves. Luckily, the tea leaves are available in any grocery store or supermarket. For ease, different online sites allow ordering tea online, such as Howmuch. Pk.
Similarly, green tea with cardamom is also trendy in Pakistan, especially among the people belonging to tribal regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. They love to consume green tea after meals because it quickly boosts their metabolism and helps them digest their heavy meals, which usually include heavy beef and mutton items.

My Life is Very Shoujo Manga, Chapter 36: Dreaming of snow and other things
Recap of the story so far: Spring Semester of 2014, I joined the kendo club and ended up falling in love with the president of the club, Tony. After many love-triangle situations, we ended up falling in love with each other, and very recently, secretly became his girlfriend.
Not long after we became a couple, Tony had to return to Shanghai for a month to visit family...
☁️   ☁️   ☁️   ☁️
So while Tony was away in Shanghai visiting family in January 2015, what was I doing?
Taking one-on-one tutoring classes for Mandarin; working to gain PLT (practical legal training) experience at a small family law firm (my passion at the time); going to kendo training without him (which felt very weird, but it was a good time to reflect on what I wanted out of the experience); hanging out with friends and...
Talking to Tony about our dreams via WeChat.
☁️   ☁️   ☁️   ☁️
One night, I dreamt of drinking a delicious, fragrant, milky pink tea in a fancy, gold-rimmed pink teacup served on a saucer. The dream was so vivid and felt so real; I woke up still remembering the taste.
But I’d never tried anything like it before.
I woke up telling Tony about it, and we Googled around to see if it existed-- kashmiri chai?
It could have been? I’d never tried kashmiri chai (at the time)...
(I have tried it now, but it’s been too long, I’d be lying if I said I remember it tasting like that in the dream, but I confirm it’s delicious!)
☁️   ☁️   ☁️   ☁️
The same day, I went to kendo training (the changed holiday timetable meant that trainings were now in the daytimes) and I joined everyone for lunch after. Tony asked me to ask Fukuda-sensei something on his behalf. (Come on, Tony 😩... I thought you didn’t want to make it obvious we were dating yet!)
As suspected, he suspected us.
“Is she Tony’s girlfriend?” Fukuda-sensei asked Bernadette in Japanese.
I didn’t understand much Japanese, but somehow from watching shoujo animes, I understood enough... My cheeks were burning.
“I’m not sure...” She answered, side-glancing at me whilst I pretended to look extremely busy trying to pick up my sushi with my chopsticks...
I messaged Tony with the answer to his question from Fukuda sensei, along with “why” with a string of question marks and exclamation marks. “Why did you make me ask him!? That was so awkward!”
☁️   ☁️   ☁️   ☁️
Another night, I had a nightmare Tony was really angry at me.
It felt so shockingly real, I woke up, in the middle of the night (3am Sydney time) and messaged him to check if he wasn’t really mad. I knew it sounded irrational, but every now and then I get prophetic dreams where the themes in the dream end up predicting something that is about to happen. More about for another chapter.
He woke up the next morning, shocked as well. He called me over Wechat.
“You dreamt I was really mad?”
“Yeah- wait. Why do you sound shocked? Is it true?”
There was silence on his end.
“Yes, but not at you. I was mad about something else.”He finally responded.
The rest I won’t talk about, because it’s private.
☁️   ☁️   ☁️   ☁️
I sent silly meme Valentines Day cards I found on Tumblr to him one night, leading me to say *adds “Lana” to the list of names I will never name my children*
“Lana’s actually a nice name... Even if it’s awkward spelt backwards...”
😳
Ugh, I know we weren’t intentionally discussing kids, but it secretly made me happy that he was indirectly considering baby names 🥰.
☁️   ☁️   ☁️   ☁️
“It’s snowing in Shanghai” he messaged me one night accompanied by photos, as he was walking home after dinner.
“Wow! It’s so pretty!”
“Ears so cold... It’s wet snow. The humidity is really cold.”
“I wish I could put my hands over them, to keep them warm... I never knew there was different types of snow until you told me. I’ve never seen snow in real life.”
“Really? In that case...”
He took a video of the snow gently falling for me to observe, along with the message, “I wish you were here.”
I thought it was one of the most romantic things he could have done in that moment 😍. I also wished to be there under the streetlights of Shanghai walking with him.
“I promise I’ll take you to Hokkaido one day,” he told me. “There’s better snow there; fluffy and soft. The snow in Shanghai’s really cold. And there’s hot springs and skiing and lots of other fun things we can do together.”
I was so touched. “I’d like that very much.”
“And... I didn’t forget you said you’re allergic to the cold (cold urticaria; look it up, if you don’t believe it exists)... But I’ll keep you warm. You said it’s not too severe, right?”
Aww 🥺...
“Yeah, hopefully I would have gotten over it by then. My doctors told me it’s one of those things that usually gradually disappears as you get older.”
“I’ll hug you all the time and make sure you’re warm enough.”
☁️   ☁️   ☁️   ☁️
Who would have thought my dreams of finding someone as sweet as him would actually come true 🥰...?
I went to bed that night dreaming of Hokkaido and the soft snow he talked about; learning to ski whilst holding hands; and most of all, of him.

LOOK.
I’m sorry that I’m calling you this late.
i know that it’s half past nine.
While it ain’t late for me,
We both know that it’s late
For a boy who studies as hard as you.
But, you see when I looked up the sky today
I saw that it was all pink and gushin
Like a cup of Kashmiri chai.
Reminded me of summertime when
We would make love in your car
Until the sun set.
Then mom would call and ask:
Boy, when you coming home?
You told her I’d be there in a minute.
A minute turned into 30
30 into 69.
And when she called one last time,
You said- mom it’s only been a minute!
And we would go at it round after round.
Not even a Pine Siskin’s alarm call
Could dull the loud noise of our
Lovemaking- the most organic of sounds.
But that was in the past.
As my feet circumnavigate
this running track right now
I keep thinking how
Temporal proximity ain’t nothing
Like physical proximity.
I love to blow...
Blow up your phone
With DM’s and snaps every hour.
When I get upset,
You constantly ask about my anxiety and
Why it makes me sour.
No matter how good you think it is,
I think that we both know in this age that
Technology can’t instantly make a virtual hug
Into a tangible reality.
When I feel ‘sour,’
Sometimes I think how exactly are we
Even gonna make it work.
A rising senior in college
And a Med student
Separated-
Thousands of miles away-
Got me thinking:
Is it possible to go back to the days of Pangea?
Worse yet,
My momma keeps telling me
You’ll settle for an arranged
And right now it’s just fun and games.
He just wants that free pussy.
But, I wanna prove her wrong.
So, take me by the hand
When I see you next December
And put an ice on that motherfuckin finger.

Hey! If It's Fine: Jasmine Tea, Mint Tea, and Flat White Lol
of course it’s fine :D
Jasmine Tea : If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
answered here :)
Mint Tea : How do you relax?
i don’t well normally just sitting down and spending time on my phone or reading is pretty relaxing for me, sometimes with a snack or drink! video games can be relaxing but it depends on what you’re playing, for example botw can be pretty calming but smash is just me screaming lmao
Flat White : Coffee or Tea?
coffee for sure, i hate tea even if i’ve tried to like it before >.> the only type of tea i like is kashmiri/pink chai (native to a region in south asia that i’m half from!!)
thank you for the ask!!! ^v^

Tea with Sugar? Why not Salt?? Exotic Indian Teas with Spice and Salt.
Tumblr media
Mountain tribes and cultures are distinctly unique and their individualism almost directly proportional to the degree of difficulty in access and communications between the rest of the world and them. The people of the Valley of Jammu and Kashmir, that includes the well-known Kashmir and the comparatively lesser-known-about Ladakh, enjoy a rich variety of cultural legacy owing to the many influences that remained well after the many tides of rulers had ebbed and flowed.
The foods, music and dance are well documented. Wazvaan, Lal Vaak and Bachha Nagma are appreciated by most who experience these. The hidden gem in all of this though is the delicious, aromatic and marvelously nutritious diversity of Kashmiri teas!
Yes, tea. Not the increasingly sought-after Masala tea made in a pot and boiled with milk, sugar and sometimes, ginger. Not the Assamese, Nilgiris varieties of tea that is exported and served-up in fine China in ceremonial English fashion. Just Chai. Kashmiri Chai of two specific varieties. Moghul Chai or Kehwa, Green Tea and Sheer Chai, Pink Tea.
Moghul Chai or Kehwa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Moghul Chai is an exotic green tea that is made and served from a Samavaar, a tea-kettle made of heavy elaborately engraved brass with a sturdy body that has a funnel-like cavity into which hot-coal is held and the external cavity into which the tea leaves with slivers of Almonds, crushed green Cardamom, sticks of Cinnamon and sugar is added and slowly brewed by smoldering hot coals, through the passing of the day. As the water heats up the tea leaves start to release their color, flavor and aroma and the spices and almonds give-up all they have by way of essential oils, aromatic flavors and a rich nutritious concoction called “Moghul Chai”. It can be safely assumed this tradition and ritual goes back to the luxurious tastes of the Moghuls who romanced and ruled Kashmir.
The Moghul Chai is poured out from the large spout towards the upper-end of the Samavaar while the top itself has a brass lid that caps the cavity holding the coals. The hot and heavy Samavaar is cradled safely in sure and certain hands on a woolen cloth or the sleeve of the Pheran, the layered top long coat with wide sleeves, worn by all Kashmiris year-round. The tea is poured out into brass cups called Khasus which has the structure of a wine goblet that allows for the base to be held with the stem so as to avoid contact with the cup which heats up to scalding-point as the hot tea is poured into it. The top brass-lid is at all times held in place to ensure the coals or ash doesn’t fall right out! As the cavity is on the central axis and the spout long, with just the slight angel required to pour the tea, its safe but requires skill and experience. The Samavaar, a fine sample of Kashmiri artisanship and skill in Copperware and Brass, with engraved motifs of the Chinaar (Maple) Leave and its Floral tributes to Mother Nature, was not meant for the delicate-wrists of sophisticated well-off ladies but for the seasoned, cultured, born-of-the-soil Kashmiri who braves freezing winters and cold autumns warmed by a Kangri, a wicker-basket with an earthen pot inside it that held hot coals and was carried inside the pheran and close to the body, all day as one went about daily chores and even when one went to bed!
But, for now, its the Samavaar and Chai that we’re interested in! The Khasu itself was held either on the extra-long sleeve of the receiving Kashmiri or else safely ensconced in a hand-kerchief or napkin. This tea is had at virtually anytime of the day with a fresh-based bread called Kulcha or else the Bagel-like Tailwur with Sesame or Poppy Seeds on it.
Sheer Chai or Noon Chai: Salty, Creamy and Oh-so-Pink!
Tumblr media
Sheer Chai or Noon Chai is as exotically unique as the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Its sharp and salty, Pink in color similar to the Antique Rose and deliciously buttery and warm, quite like the hugely sought-after Pashmina!
Its made in the Samavaar, with hot coals to give the sustained slow heat across the Brass or Copper Samavaar, with a tiny portion of loose fine special green tea leaves, a pinch of Baking Soda and just enough water to steep the tea-leaves. The water evaporates leaving behind a residue that’s deep Garnet colored with the dark thread-like tea leaves sticking to the bottom. The Baking Soda enables this brilliant color to take effect.
To this residue, one cup at a time at first and then a further two cups or so are added while continuing to reduce the liquid to a darker version. Finally, milk and salt are added and the whole tea is brought to boil. This is poured out into Brass Khasus and finished-off with a dollop of clotted cream and slivers of pistachios and almonds.
The Sheer Chai is always had after a meal as a digestive and also at times in-between meals, if the mood fancies. This comes as a shock to many given its serving of rich cream but this time-honored ritual has kept Kashmiris in good health for a very long time and raising eye-brows isn’t going to alter the course of history nor challenge the merit of this ritual!
When supped between meals in the afternoon or late evening, it is accompanied by an assortments of breads, in various shapes, sizes and textures. The Bagirkhani, the Sheermal, the Lavasa, and the layered pastry-puff, the Katlam.
Being Kashmiri is a blessing. We are quite like our Green teas, Moghul Chai and Sheer Chai. Steeped in ritual, exuding rich experiences, blending-in with diverse and contrary dualities of life’s flavors; an expression of human refinement or so we like to think.Being a Kashmiri from Karnataka is a dual blessing. One has year-round, balmy climate and appreciative fellow-journeymen to share our distinct and interesting foods and flavors with!On that note, let’s have another Khasu of Moghul Chai then, shall we?

9, 21 and 26 ❤️
(Well first of all: ❣️!)
9. favorite quote?
Me to me every time someone asks this question: ok just chill and pick a quote theres soo many out there. People are always saying things this should be a cakewalk.Don’t spend a week thinking—
(A week later I emerge from the confines of my own head with a quote and I’m not even like. Fully satisfied with it. So here’s to breaking patterns and answering... 3-4 days later instead? It’s a start ig shxjdndnd)
“Every year, as close to this day as we can, let’s go to the nursery and find something for the yard. I don’t know anything about plants. I don’t know their names or how to care for them. I don’t even know how to tell one blurry green thing from another. But I can learn, as I’ve had to re-learn everything—myself, my likes and dislikes, the width and height and depth of where I live—again, alongside you.
Not everything we plant will take. Not every plant will thrive. But together we can watch the ones that do fill up our garden.”
Chose this bc 1. It’s from one of my favorite books! :) (The Overstory by Richard Powers 🌲🌳) 2. I read it and it’s like. Same. It’s such a sincere, honest sentiment from one of my better liked characters in the book+I remember partly because of its context in the story it /really/ struck me the first time I read it. I didn’t remember it verbatim or anything (it’s long!) but like. The general gist I remembered and it’s been a while since I read the book. I’m impressed such a small detail managed to stick with me this long 🌱
21. what’s your favorite dish to cook?
Lasagna bc I love wasting time and cutting veggies. 🍅🧅🧄
Dalgona coffee is fun bc I can forget myself completely in the long mostly unbroken minutes I stand there with the hand mixer Waiting for it to reach proper thickness. Or better yet when I hand mix it I can spend 30+ minutes zoning out and listening to an audiobook. ☕️
Kashmiri chai bc my brother and I love it and only I am willing to go thru the complicated multi step ordeal of making it shcjdndn. And when I get the pink color just right it’s always satisfying 😌☕️
26. what’s your favorite season & why?
Summer! It’s the only time I feel consistently whole and A L I V E and there’s no school! Usually I get to spend more time with friends then too. I’m sure if someone with too much time on their hands made a pie chart of my laughter throughout the year, divided by seasons, summer would have like. The highest average by far. I literally love the sun and I can barely, scarcely, hardly stand winter 🥶! It’s just when I happen to feel the best ☀️
