deiadre "deia" mercar is the 3rd oldest child and 1st daughter of a SIX adopted children household lol. parents are a human and elf partnership and the kids are all orphans saved from minrathous' streets or displaced by the war.

her father is human and an overly ambitious logan-roy-if-he-was-broke type figure. mother is elven and kinder but also growing increasingly ill, and deiadre has had to step up as her caretaker.

her mother refers to their family and home as "the rookery" :) she loves birds (deia does too!) and since rooks are "resourceful, opportunistic, highly social and rarely seen on their own"..... the nickname stuck :)

deia had a strong relationship between her two older brothers, also adopted. evander (elven, 31 in datv) is the oldest - kind, funny, lighthearted - she's very similar to him, and it was him who first taught her to fight against tevinter authority and inspired her to want more for elves in thedas. he's also immature, shirks responsibility in favour of his grand directionless goals, and is somewhat selfish lol. matthas (human, 29 in datv) is the second son - self-serious, quick to irritation and melancholy, and a workaholic, but also honorable, selfless, brave, and a provider for the family in all the ways evander sort of isnt. deia is a combination of both of them, and loves them both equally and inspite of their flaws.

during dai, evander (19), matthas (17) and - after much begging - deia (14) journeyed to skyhold at the behest of their father to meet the inquisition and potentially seize an opportunity to elevate their military family's position. on the road somewhere in emprise du lion they were attacked by venatori and ironically saved BY the The Inquisitor herself (as well as ashara's companions, including A Certain Someone lol...........). deia got idk knocked out during the fight bc she was a literal tween lol so she kind of missed everything djkdjsk but when she awoke, evander and matthas had spent several hours w the inquisition and things had changed. matthas was ENAMORED by ashara, idolized her, wanted to join the inquisition immediately and bought right into the ~ herald of andraste ~ mythos even tho ashara has always adamantly rejected it. on the other hand :) evander had spent much of the day talking to a quieter more unassuming bald man. lol. and came away from that conversation a little :) different. lol. deia herself didnt have much to do with either of them, having been unconscious for most of it.

after this, evander/matthas/deia solidify connections with the inquisition and join up as agents. matthas is allowed to remain at skyhold and starts serving the inquisition heart body and soul, and quickly rises through the ranks over the next several years. evander and deia return to minrathous and start sabotaging venatori operations on the home front, which is where deia learns the rogue trade lol, and they both eventually join the shadow dragons.

post trespasser THE INCIDENT occurs <3 what is THE INCIDENT you ask? well i'll tell you :) evander at this point had become increasingly distant and strange and disconnected from the inquisition/shadow dragon/mercar family goals and interests. much more interested in actual minrathous politics and larger wilder stuff. deia didnt think much of this until it accumulated in him being caught sabotaging inquisition missions and leaking intel to :) you guessed it!! :) solas. as an agent of fen'harel.

ashara (or someone acting on her orders) has him immediately arrested and he probably wouldve been executed if deia hadn't instantly broken him out and helped him flee. this wasnt a subtle heist situation btw. everybody knew it was her who helped him lol. and so naturally their entire family was stripped of their agent status including matthas, the person who loved and believed in and idolized the inquisition/ashara the most.

he did not take this well. he condemned evander but he also condemned deia for saving his life. and then promptly said fuck you to the whole family and dipped. evander had no choice but to go on the run, and so he left too. deia understood ev's motives and honestly kind of agreed with them to an extent (obviously neither one of them was aware of solas's true goals lol) as a fellow ~revolutionary~. but she loves matthas too and the lives they had been building so... its a whole situation. lol. anyway.

this was 5 years before datv. so for the last 5 years, deia has had to pick up the pieces of her shattered family, play the diplomat AND the freedom fighter, and walk the tightrope of fighting for change while also protecting her family. she assumes the alias rook while continuing her work in the shadow dragons in attempts to lay low, avoiding her connections with both the inquisition and - unwittingly - fen'harel.

as for her opinions on both - it's complicated. she empathizes with evander's admiration for solas, because solas represents on the surface a person she has always wanted to be. but she resents him for ruining her family's life. lol. and while she enjoyed her time with the inquisition and respects them for saving her life and giving her + her brothers a noble purpose, she resents ashara for having the gall to saved her life as a girl and then destroyed it as a woman, all while not even being able to recognize deia on the street, most likely. she sees both of them as authority figures with two much power and too much baggage be trusted, but she also sees both of her brothers in them. especially solas. and she desperately wants to FIX both of them, because if she can fix the rift between solas and ashara, she might be able to fix the rift between matthas and evander.

For pride: Him refusing to let Joshua speak at points in the beginning and being initially hesitant to say things how Joshua would say them bcuz he views Joshua as too harsh! Bcuz he believes his morality is superior to Joshua's he limits Joshua's autonomy (good thing for humanity (elon musk), but Joshua's not a fan)

Morgan is wrath! She gets so judgey so quick and fights abt it and it's pretty reasonable tbfuckingh, but it doesn't make her the nicest person

Travis is oooooh boy, independently his sin is sloth, he doesn't act for anything he wants, then feels miserable for not getting it (think the Morgan & Travis "I will let u fuck me" "uh no sorry I can't for uhhhhhh reasons scene"), but with the influence of Parker and Liam his sin is envy all the way he's jealous of everyone who got the things he never did and he's acting on it

Parker and Liam's combined sin is gluttony, they overfeed themselves on pain and power, dining on it with no concern for others (tho tbh a good amount of the sins could fit these bastards)

Brooke and Deidre r pride, they think their methods r the correct ones, the superior ones, and that they have it right, ofc compared to Joshua they kinda r, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve loved life lately but needing to find a job has been hanging over my fucking head and dragging me down again): the idea of going back to the service industry is making me feel like wtf is the point of everything….. 3 years have gone by and I’m back to where I was. I do enjoy cleaning for Deidre but that’s only once a month…. I’m doing social media for my mom’s friend in marketing and I love doing the production and editing work but she always has an issue with what I make because she’s fucking 50 years old and doesn’t get what a good TikTok is supposed to look like. So it’s draining af. I’ve always had a hard time with people who don’t understand my vision tho so this has just reminded me of being young and none of my teachers or bosses thinking anything I did was good enough. Like no one just trusts that I’m doing a good job because I’m always stuck with stuffy people- that’s really my fault though tbh.

Thinking in line with Zenos' character design showing that he clearly cares about and put extra effort into his appearance and keeps things that would not be fitting for battle (long hair, extra fabric, etc), and how those choices are probably made as ways to exert control over himself when he has so little due to the family and his station in the Empire, I was thinking about his eye makeup. And I connected a new dot between him and Deidre.

Deidre feels like so much of her is for other people. The Warrior of Light is for other people, it's not something she wants, other people want it, other people want this hero to save them want this weapon to kill their enemies, and sure she COULD have a say in it, but it would end up at the expense of so many people, so really she can't say no. She feels like so little of her time is allowed to be her own, especially during Stormblood when things are like an upside down pyramid with her at the tip balancing two rebellions and making them able to happen, that one of the things she takes comfort in is the little frivolous thing that is putting on her eye makeup and perfume (Emmanellain's birthday gift is pulling too much weight in keeping her sane istg).

And I feel like Zenos' focus on his appearance is probably born of similar if not the same feelings. He doesn't have options either. He's just a weapon of Garlemald that happened to be born into the royal family. He's spoken of in such a dehumanizing way by his father that it's clear his situation has been such for most of his life. A lot of his dialogue showcases incredible emotional detachment that seems like it would only be possible through serious neglect, and well. Garlemald would want a weapon, not a person. The less he needs the more they can push him. Personal expression and desires could have been squashed at an early age via Royal Conduct, at the simplest, or by whatever unexpounded upon "experiments" Solus did, at the worst. His extra bits and baubles, the makeup, keeping his hair long, those are probably the few things he knows he can get away with doing for himself.

So yeah. Controlling your appearance when so little else of you is your own. Another thing Deidre shares with Zenos.

Deidre IS dating Alisaie from the later third of SB on!!! Esteem (who has to deal with ALL pushed down emotions not just the negative ones, such as "I can't fucking deal with a crush rn we don't have TIME for that there's a WAR going on") basically corners Deidre into biting the bullet and confessing XD.

Special knowledge tho... Is that Deidre's younger brother who ran away to become a pirate when he was 12 because their home life was not great (absentee mom that Deidre had to replace, Mom basically in Yotsuyu's pre-viceroy position but because of her father not her husband leading to.... also i get alphinaud. pirates? hot. dont blame him whatsoever for that. i really like deidre's backstory!! it's really interesting. does she ever visit her half siblings?? is her mom ok now, or is she still stuck in that kind of situation??

wynn is very much a parental/older sibling figure to the twins!! especially during their initial forays into eorzea when things were the roughest. they do their best to keep an eye on the two in the hopes that the twins don't find themselves in over their heads, but wind up failing more often than not. f.

i don't think in my canon alwynn left with minfilia and the other scions after the bloody banquet; i find it hard to believe they would have left ul'dah unless alphinaud was with them, and i don't think they would have let minfilia go back either even though hydaelyn wanted her to remain behind. so instead they escaped with alphinaud and pipin.

which also meant that the status of the rest of the scions was in even more doubt than it is in canon. i think alphinaud and wynn probably got really close in the time between ARR and HW+in the beginning of heavensward, given that as far as either of them knew they were the only scions left. it was very much a "i can't lose you too" type of situation.

alisae and alwynn got their own special "oh god we're all alone" bonding time in the post-sb patches after the other scions got called away to the first, which especially fucked with alwynn after alisae got pulled away in front of them. tough luck mate.

Yes.  From what I’ve seen, Lucas fans seem to be a lot more vocal and more aggressive in some ways in their support of the couple.  Maybe even desperate.  That might be coming from a place of them knowing it’s not going to happen but they think they can somehow change TPTB’s minds or something or just really want it to happen.  I don’t know.  I’ve seen posts that have basically said that.  I fully support those fans who love Lucas and would prefer Elizabeth pick him.  There’s nothing wrong with liking what you like.  We all have opinions.  This is what makes love triangles so tricky.  You’re going to alienate a group of fans and that’s unavoidable.  The show has actively worked to divide the fans.  

I remember seeing the same poll done by Deidre from ET and when I saw it, it was like 75% for Nathan then as well.  The results of the survey I did after season 7 were similar too.  78.7% for Nathan and 13.1% for Lucas with 8.2% undecided.

TPTB had to have known this to some extent so the fact that they still decided to continue the triangle plot through what sounds like the majority of season 8 is so incredibly annoying.  Are 75% or more of the audience going to enjoy watching Elizabeth gallivanting around with Lucas?  I think it could lead to a lot of anger because it’s already been such a long wait for us to finally have a new couple.

Alright, I’ve gotten back into writing Spider-Man.

I’m scrapping the Wonder Woman x Spider-Man open relationship with Mary Jane X Felicia Open relationship that ultimately culminates into a 4 people polycule where Peter gets pegged, and go for something a bit more simple. So, I’m sorry for the, like, 20 kudos I received on Ao3 over that, and 31 favorites on HF, but that’s abandoned at the moment.

So, new idea...

Amazing Spinnerete, an AU where MJ gets bitten by the spider instead.

(Spider-Woman and Jackpot were already taken and Spider-Girl didn’t sound right to her, as if it was too early for that).

1) Peter, who doesn’t get any powers ever for the entirety of my story (unlike I was planning to do for Mary Jane in the previous one as I piled power after power on her among star sapphire rings, spirits of vengeance, symbiontes, Gamma Radiations and Thor’s hammer), turns into a Sidekick/IT Guy role to her.

2) He’s there to fulfill a purely supporting role to MJ Heroics, craft the webs, be a support to her, all that shebang you’d expect, while getting worried sick over her going out in New York and risking her life daily among villains and criminals and whatnot. He’s the “Nerd behind the computer,” a concept that got admittedly popularized by Oracle, as well as her “field medic” when she gets back home and needs stitching on both the costume and her scars. 

3) Also uncle Ben is alive and on a ongoing trip with Aunt Anna and Aunt May around the world. They solve crimes, off screen, like 3 Jessica Fletchers, so Peter isn’t as fucked up emotionally as in canon.

4) I’m gona take from the MC2 and say that, unlike Peter, MJ is actually trying to profit off her image from the start. This might cause some conflicts with Peter over him not wanting them to lucrate on some of their crime fighting (Such as not wanting to patent the web fluid in fear of criminals getting a hold of it), and mixes up with their already canon conflict over her being the main breadwinner in the couple AND the possibility of her doing progressively more risque work.

5) Specifically, I’m gona say it: Spinnerete and Mary Jane have two separate OnlyFans. It’s a modernized story and they are in their mid twenties and need a stable source of income and what better than a horde of people out there paying the same woman TWICE for pics of her buying wonderbread? “Pictures of Spinneret” therefore become a way different phrase, and there is a debate in universe over a superheroine essentially being a sex worker, and all that that entails. I don’t know how well I’m going to explore it tho so this might get dropped after a while and just make her a ASMRtist or a Twitch Streamer, basically the same thing at this point.

6) Since this is a AU I can do like Spider-Gwen did and not just fuck up one piece of the main universe but make every aspect of the universe different, so, bullet list of things I’ve been coming up with that are different from main continuity:

6A) The Hero to Heroine ratio (as well as Villain to Villainess) is 1 hero every 10 heroines. Major (Male, Homo Sapiens) heroes in the setting are: Johnny Storm (Johnny Storm), Thor (Thor Odinson), Power Man (Luke Cage), Iron Man (Rhodey Rhodes), Original Captain America (Steve Rogers).

6B) The mutant community is a massive polycule of free love and shit. The biggest mutant community in the world is stationed in the Free Republic of Genosha, currently part of a worldwide international federation of small nations around the globe born to contrast Soviet and American influences during the cold war called IFMP (International Federation of Micro-Powers). Latveria and Wakanda are part of it, and are the leaders of the two major factions among the delegates in the form of the isolationists (Wakanda) and the Expansionists (Latveria). The second biggest mutant community in the world is in San Diego. most male superheroes and some of their villains happen to be mutants.

6C) Susan Storm lead a year long deep space expedition team financed by the united states government, and managed to contact several alien races in her travels, returning to earth with diplomatic ties and Power Cosmic given to her by Infinity herself as a sign of good will after she and the united armies of space finally managed to slay and destroy “The eldritch abomination at the edge of reality that makes people racist by existing,” as it was called. This starts a age of cooperation between the various alien races and empires out there in the cosmos and Earth, their embassies being built in most of the major nations of the world, trade and science deals cropping up as a result.

6D) Susan Storm later formed the (apolitical, above nations and planets) superhero team the Fantastic Five, which changed members over the years based on relationship with other alien planets and tensions between the members of the team. Current line up consists in Susan Storm (Susan Storm, former Ms. Fantastic), super partes leader due to the Power Cosmic, alongside Lyja the Lazerfist (Second Ms. Fantastic and Former Skrull chaos agent on earth during the Skrull-Kree Cold War), Crystalia Amaquelin (Crystal, Inhuman Ambassador), She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters, earth representative and legal expert), Thundra (Thundra, Femizonian Ambassador). The Kree empire was disbanded after the end of the Kree-Skrull cold war.

6E) Johnny Storm never became the second human torch but ends up becoming Evil Jesus. During his trip to the stars with his sister he accidentally ends up in the Negative Zone, the void between dimensions, and befriends the locals, becoming a jesus like figure and ending up ruling the place. It’s not as banged up as it sounds but with prolonged commuting with the Negative Zone he has achieved a state of resonance with Oblivion, one of the other 4 great entities of the universe, and has become his champion. (in direct contrast with his sister’s coming from Infinity). He still uses his powers for good, if in a chaotic good way compared to his sister lawful good one.

6F) Peggy Carter was subjected to the Super Soldier program during WWII, thus becoming Agent England, de facto leader of the Invaders (Mostly same team, Sub-Mariner, First Human Torch, etc.), and guiding the assault against nazi germany and hydra. She and her sidekick end up frozen on the same plane

6G) Steve Rogers was still picked under her wing, if not able to receive super soldier treatment, and still became the (original) Captain America, a purely propagandist figure of a scrawny, physically weak son of immigrants Brooklyn dude, the complete opposite of the German Ubermech ideal for the white man, but with enough anger and outrage over an unjust world to pick fights with people 5 times his size, shown in many a propaganda video punching Hitler square in the jaw and knocking him out cold. They both ended up on that plane crashing in the arctic and were defrosted several years later.

6H) With the disappearance of Agent England, the Invaders disbanding, and the cold war underway, with no superhero team really cropping up, Doctor Deidre Wentworth managed to develop a modified version of the Super Soldier Serum, testing it on herself, and becoming the Superior Captain America. She forms the (US Exclusive, extremely political) “Americommandos” superteam, with selected superheroines and “reformed” supervillaines of the time. The team was responsible for many controversial superhero activities during the cold war, in and out of the united states, and is still going to this day, even if some members have retires or have outright died. Not Superior Cap tho, no, her aging has been slowed down due to the serum, so here she is still guiding black ops teams to capture and imprison some worker rights activists that happen to be mutants.

6I) The Sorcerer Supreme of this dimension happens to be Doctor Doom, Ruler of Latveria.

6L) Norman Osborn never became the Green Goblin. He was still a scummy CEO and millionaire, and still had a affair with one of his son’s best friends. Gwen was dating Peter at the time and ended up getting pregnant with Norman, he finds out, pressures her to get an abortion, almost terrorizes her, she doesn’t cave, Peter is understandably confused and shocked but still wants to support her (as does Mary Jane), but on the day of Gwen’s son’s and daughter’s birth Norman pulls the same shit he pulled in canon with Mary Jane and Mayday, hires an assassin to force a miscarriage, Gwen finds out a couple months later, stages her death, and becomes the Ghost-Goblin, ending up throwing Norman off the New York bridge and killing him in the process for good. His estate and company was inherited by his son, Henry, who devolved most of it to charity, destroying the Osborn business empire.

7) That’s the gist of it really, gona elaborate on more tomorrow.

i've noticed that a lot of actresses who are new mothers go for storylines like infant mortality/syndromes? maybe because it's easier to tap into emotions, or they want to drive across that not all women are as lucky as them or they've been through something similar in the past so although they're reliving their experiences, they know they're going to handle it in a sensitive way? as someone who's been close to it i'd rather watch a mother who understands than someone who acts it unrealistically

i don’t have (nor want) kids so idk what the drive for female actresses w/kids portraying those kinds of storylines is. i imagine that their want to tell such a story with some level of respect and dignity is their first and foremost thought tho. but having kids probably helps them understand it on a whole different level than I could ever even imagine, i’m sure. wasn’t Charlotte pregnant just before and just after ED’s cot death storyline aired? all the more respect to her (and Lucy tbh) cos i wouldn’t be able to function if had been in their shoes..

my only “devil’s advocate” of sorts is that i think that as an actor you have to play everything handed to you with all the believability you can muster in the world, regardless of where you are in life and how many kids you have. you have to cos that’s your job and any actor worth their stock is gonna be able to do it regardless of their personal life yk?? this applies more or less to most storylines too. and plenty of actresses have done infant mortality/child death storylines while not having kids of their own and have made it so realistic imo. GH’s baby Lila storyline is still some of KM’s best work that i can’t rewatch cos i’ll end up sobbing for days. Deidre Hall and Days tackled a SIDS storyline in the 80s that my gran always gave a lot of praise to (tho this is also coming from the same woman who thought the devil storyline was brilliance and if she was around today would smack down anyone who disagreed with her lol so grain of salt as i’ve only seen the SIDS s/l flashbacks and fan videos..)

That description of Deidre has given me two reactions.

I hope to god that i’m not the only one who’s gushing over the beauty that is Ayra’s artwork in Heroes.... my god. She’s gorgeous...omg. She’s my favorite girl in Genealogy next to Deidre and Lachesis. 

Like, gosh... I know she was going to be in there because of her little chibi sprite being shown but damn...she’s so pretty, waaah...
