People have pointed out that Toshiro takes the place of Marcille in the second anime OP poses in the first page here, but less so the implications of it. The second picture is from the second page of this "what if" extra, so Toshiro "replacing" Marcille in a way, or at least it feeling like that, is not only intentional but pretty straightforwardly the secondary punchline of the comic.

Already in the first panel Marcille looks less like her usual hater disgruntled face and more worried, sad almost… And isn’t that what Marcille’s afraid of? Being replaced and left behind. Isn’t that why she’s so defensive with Shuro, that she dislikes him, that she’s borderline territorial? That if Toshiro succeeds in wooing Falin he’d be taking her away from her, that he’d be taking her spot in Falin’s heart, that Falin would leave for Wa, not unlike how she went with Laios instead of staying with her and how it hurt her. Here her relationship-defining words of affection and devotion are literally getting overwritten by someone else’s as he replaces her. When Falin laser focuses and she has to choose someone, she will leave one to stay with the other, and Marcille is so afraid she’ll choose someone else. And now not only is he trying to steal Falin away but Laios daydreams about him literally taking her spot, one Touden already unconditionally likes him.

Meanwhile, not only does Toshiro not act like himself here but it’s in their imagination, Laios’ imagination. The way he replaces Marcille isn’t an accident though it isn’t conscious either, and it’s telling: Laios gets along well with Marcille and likes her, so he uses her as a template for what being good friends with someone looks like. They’re friends, this in itself is ironically a testament to how special Marcille is.

It is a plot point through canon that she’s insecure, several times worried the party will leave her behind, because of her mana sickness, injuries or because she can’t keep up. It’s even in the original panels the comic is referencing above. She’s always been the hypercompetent and performant class prodigy, until Falin did that dungeonium so potent it overshadowed everyone else’s, which made Marcille chase her and caused their friendship. She’s terrified of what’ll happen if she loses her usefulness and her identity as the smart competent one, what other surprises will suddenly show up and blow all her expectations out the water, and leave her behind in the unknown feeling powerless and alone.

It doesn't seem to have occurred to anyone in the fandom (as far as I've seen at least), but there is a link between the many Susan Twists throughout the (4th to 15th) Doctor's timeline, and the earlier, but just as canon, plot point of multiple Claras and Great Intelligences throughout the (1st to 11th) Doctor's timeline.

That means there is a considerable possibility for interaction between those characters. Many many possibilities.

another thing that i just noticed is that the dwarves have now had done to them by the elves what we’d thought the elves had done to them by humans, at least before inquisition. cut down in their peak and permanently ruined, left to scrabble for the broken pieces of their history

not to say it’s an inherently bad choice because oppression isn’t that straightforward, but it sure was an interesting choice to shift the “they destroyed our way of life and fractured our society and we ARE allowing ourselves to feel angry about it and reclaim our history and maybe use that to rebuild what we once had” narrative from the elves to the dwarves. like if that’s the story you really wanted to tell, you could have also given it to like. bellara

I like showing my friends progress of whatever I'm working on and then just skittering off because I have responsibilities I have to take care of.

Like, I'll be on my break and working on something and take a picture to send my friends before going back to work because my break is over. Or I'm working on priming/painting these Bad Batch Loth Cats and I'll just send them progress photos before skittering off to make dinner or take care of my laundry
