see my issue is that i literally have an entire Warrior Cats OC universe where the entire purpose is to "give every single character a backstory however small"

and there's already about 500 characters give or take yknow. and like. i already have the stories all plotted out and yet

and yet i keep sitting here and thinking to myself "well but what motivates this character? why are they doing this? what was their story?"

and like YES that's the entire POINT but i NEED TO STOP I CANT KEEP WRITING MORE AND MORE THE *TIMELINE DOCUMENT* IS ALREADY 84 PAGES LONG AND IM STILL IN THE REVERSE (prequel and DOTC-esque) GENERATIONS

I have no idea how this ship would even happen, I have //no// idea.

Flameflower (left) looks a lot like his grandpa Jake and grandma Crystal! He's a gentle soul that loves kits and wants to have a few litters of his own, adopted or biological, doesn't matter.

Whiteear (right) looks a lot like her aunt Squirrelflight but unlike her she's brown like her mom. She got her dad's eye color. She's a shy she-cat, but ready to kick ass if they disrespect her family.

This is Scourge's 4th litter. Is he suposed to have kits with every cat in the series XD?

hey i dont know if this is a hot take in the tumblr warriors fandom (i know its a . pretty . weirdly hot take in other parts of the warriors fandom) but um . maybe dont . name your oc's after their disabilities . . . ? as in something along the lines of "lostface" or "crookedjaw" or "deadfoot" . . . i think names that are a bit more subtle and aren't directly relating the cat to their disability (such as a deaf cat who's named something like "whiteear" or a blind cat who's named "feathersight" or a cat with an injured leg named "copperfoot" or smth) are fine but like . come on now . you don't need to name your oc with a burn scar "burntface" or "mangledface" .

the only exceptions to this , i feel like , are naming a character that for plot reasons or in a way that's like . this is clearly bad . this name is bad , this is ableist in universe , and is changed later on , etc . similar to how bluestar named brightpaw lostface after her injury , but later firestar renamed her to brightheart . i think narratively , that's fine , if you want to explore themes of ableism and disability in universe . i don't necessarily think it'd be right for said character to want to keep the ableist name they were given (in the case that you, reading this, are like "oh but what if i want to talk about ableism and disability in my story but then have my character redeem themselves and keep the ableist name as a sign of confidence???") , but . that's something that probably depends on the person writing the story . if you yourself are physically disabled and relate to something like that , that's Completely fine , obviously i can't like . police what you do and don't do .

but to the general warriors fandom , especially to those without a physical disability , Maybe Don't Name Your Ocs After Their Disability ! ! ! it's kind of . dehumanizing . it boils them down to having no personality outside of their disability , or only being seen as their disability and not as a person . just a thought !

Also, fun fact: tomorrow is my birthday. I have a post planned for tomorrow, but there's no guarantee I'll actually finish the planned post. So, if nothing posts tomorrow, it's because drawing is difficult and I got busy with all the projects currently at hand.

Also, a few updates: -----Thank you to everyone who voted in the Starclan polls, I will be working on that situation once I have plenty of posts queued up again. -----Pretty Petals will return after the current moon of Tales Before Birch is written and queued up, I try to do stories on rotation in attempts to avoid dropping the series. -----As much as I enjoy the wacky genetics of the Sims 3, I will once again be mapping out genetics for how each cat looks. You can thank my genetics hyperfixation and Whiteear's nightmare of a family(genetics-wise, seriously she has 2 tortie sons and a black and white daughter, the only way I could avoid mutations with these guys would be to make both Hawk and Brindle trans, and I didn't really want to do that when I try to make the characters' gender assigned at birth match what the game gave them <-this is why I made Mousepaw trans, I kept calling him male and he felt right as a tom, but he's afab in game). -----A new series will start coming out sometime after the next batch of Pretty Petals Posts. There will be art drawn by me, so hopefully I get it done and you all like it. -----I will be posting more polls that might affect certain stories, like Tales Before Birch and New Tales of the Forest, so be on the lookout for that

Story:

It was only ever meant to be a joke. 

A mean one, to be sure, but no true harm was to come from it. It was simple, small vengeance. 

Berrytalon had confessed their feelings to their friend, Whiteear. Whiteear hadn’t said anything, not to Berrytalon, at least. It turned out he told his other friend, Cherryheart, about what Berrytalon had said.

Of course, Cherryheart had decided that the whole Clan should know, gosspining about it with seemingly everyone. But even that was not enough for her, being told by Berrytalon to stop wasn’t enough.

When their leader had finished speaking at the gathering, Cherryheart rose and asked if he had forgotten something else to announce, that Berrytalon and Whiteear were mates? 

The leader responded, irritated at the interruption, that that is nothing to announce. But what really stung was the way Whiteeye looked away. Cherryheart, still in the center of attention, had pointed it out and asked, faking surprise, if he had denied Berrytalon’s advances.

Berrytalon wanted to get back at her. At them, as Whiteear had started to avoid them completely, but hung around Cherryheart at every given moment. 

The plan was cruel, but it was deserved. 

They would make those two believe, for only a little bit, that Berrytalon had died.

Berrytalon had practised swimming in the border that separated their Clan from Riverclan, until finally, on a stormy day they were ready. 

They intentionally egged Whiteeye on until Whiteeye angrily shoved them, causing Berrytalon to ‘slip’ and ‘fall’ into the river. The current was strong, so Berrytalon followed it, holding their breath as they had practised and waiting patiently to be washed ashore. 

They were planning on returning to camp and shocking those two, who would have surely thought Berrytalon died.

But Berrytalon wasn’t the dead one.

It turned out that Whiteeye had leaped in after them in an attempt of rescue, and ended up returning to the surface, still and unmoving.

Berrytalon had told everyone that it was luck they had survived. 

But the guilt ate at them and ate at them.

They went to the river, the only place they could think to go, and whispered their apology. Only the wind and waves answered. When Berrytalon stood and began to leave, they heard him.

A cry for help, muffled by the surface, but surely there. 

Begging for help.

Berrytalon had to do what he had done for them. They leaped in after.
