OMG RAVEN YOU’RE INTO EVER AFTER HIGH? I love it but can’t talk about it bc none of my friends have seen it 😭 I wish it was talked about more, especially with how deep their lore runs. I love EAH’s dynamics with the complexities of destiny. If twst followed the same logic as eah’s world it would be so interesting. How would you feel if the worlds were to mesh together and how it would work? You can interpret that in any way you want; the characters meeting or twst being bound to the same rules and societal expectations of eah, or whatnot.

Also who’s your favorite eah character compared to your favorite twst character (Leona)?Jade, right?

And have you read the eah books? I haven’t, but I’m going to try to sometime!

I'm still salty that the Monster High x Ever After High crossover movie never saw the light of day-- Part of the reason why I don't like Disney (I mean the faceless corpo, not all Disney products) is because they have such a strong association with fairy tales that it pushes other interpretations out of the market or it leads to people assuming Disney "owns" those fairy tales. Ever After High's lore and themes run so much deeper than most other fairy tale reimaginings I've seen (and I've seen a lot). It's such a shame it doesn't get the respect and recognition it deserves even though EAH is the one out here challenging the status quo whereas modern Disney is content with mediocrity that appeals to the masses.

I think EAH and TWST, at their cores, share similar ideas so combining them would work well. Friendship, self-identity, defining your own future, questioning what "good" and "evil" truly are... It's all there. I'd imagine that if Twisted Wonderland (or at least NRC) followed the same rules as EAH, then everyone would be descendants of their Disney counterparts. (This is actually a common misperception of what TWST was to new fans; people mistakenly believe the TWST characters are children of the classic Disney villains. This has never been canon.) Unfortunately, I'd have to take away the Disney villains being twisted to be "good" guys in Twisted Wonderland's world in order for this to work by EAH rules, so... There's that to consider. This, in turn, can result in the student body splitting into Royals (pro-following one's destiny) and Rebels (anti-following one's destiny). Perhaps RSA and NRC could be one school in this AU...? Just so we have a mix of "good" and "evil" descended children in the same vicinity as one another. A must-have are the constantly bickering Narrators!! It's only really when Yuu shows up that the majority opinion starts to shift. Maybe then Crowley becomes concerned with students rising up and fighting back against the system that relies on them being complacent to keep the cycle of stories going. I've seen some readings of EAH which theorize that Royals guaranteed a happy ending is a stand-in for privilege, and that interpretation leads into very interesting conflicts when we also consider that magic in Twisted Wonderland is a privilege afforded to few.

To cover just the dorm leaders (because covering all the TWST characters would make this post way longer), I definitely see Riddle, Kalim, Idia, and Malleus as Royals and Leona, Azul, and Vil as Rebels. Here's my thought process:

Riddle is pretty self-explanatory. He comes from a background where he's used to being told what to do by his mother and so he also heavily relies on her strict, unyielding teachings to play by the book when he goes out there in the real world. Riddle is inflexible and hesitant to go against the grain--and, more importantly, he fully believes that following the rules will lead to his happiness... that doing as his fairy tale ordains will lead to a happy ending. What happens to the Queen of Hearts is dubious in the end since it's framed as Alice's dream, so I think that vagueness gives Riddle hope that by behaving himself, he'll earn the happiness he desires.

Leona is a Rebel, and not just because that's the aesthetic of his dorm. Being that he is highly intelligent and demonstrates a lot of foresight, he'd be aware of what future is in store for him and aggressively fighting against that. It would make him more desperate than ever to prove his worth, because not only does everyone see his powers as terrifying, but they also see him as a future brother murderer and dictator that will bleed the land dry of resources. It'd make the situation with his family even more strained than it already is, not to mention the extra jealousy he must feel toward Cheka, who is still too young to understand what's going to happen later.

Azul is someone who acts like a Royal but is actually a Rebel. He acts polite and like he plays by the rules, but clearly he doesn't behind the scenes. I see Azul as the kind of Rebel akin to Duchess Swan... as in, he believes he can steal away someone else's destiny for himself. Azul would constantly be looking for loopholes to save himself. He's put way too much stock into becoming a better, stronger person and he'd want to defend this new life he has made for himself. His obsession with protecting his contracts could translate well here.

Kalim is a Royal because he's mega rich and has been sheltered from the concept of bad things that happen to normal people; he has nothing to worry about. It also helps that Kalim is twisted from a character that doesn't meet a bad ending. I think he'd be aware of Jami's doomed destiny, but Kalim is so ignorant that he thinks it'll just be fine and it'll work itself out. Part of his growth could be being forced to reckon with the reality that Jamil is suffering under the legacy assigned to him and accepting the role that he plays in that by not acting.

Idia is a Royal--or at least pre-book 6 Idia is. He's a very pessimistic guy and repeatedly expresses hopelessness about the future, bemoaning the curse he and his family have to bear. Idia doesn't want to try to fight his fate, he's already accepted that it will happen and so closes himself off from others to save himself that heartbreak. Post-book 6 Idia will have swapped over to the Rebel side thanks to Ortho reviving the hope in him.

Vil is a Rebel simply for the fact that he fights social conventions. He's already out here shattering gender roles, but finds it much harder to breach that expectation that villains are just villains and nothing more. Vil keeps getting rejected at every turn, told that it's impossible to rewrite his story, that his frustrations are the natural result of jealousy and an ugly heart that festers in side of him. He steels himself to prove that notion wrong, working himself to the bone to get up on that stage and stay on it, waiting to be lavished with praise that he truly is the fairest one of all. I feel this would be so fascinating for Vil's own arc about self acceptance; maybe he wears himself down emotionally because he HAS to basically be perfect due to his job but also denies himself normal feelings like anger and jealousy because confessing that you have such "ugly" feelings only validates that you're shallow just like the stories say you will be.

Malleus is a tough one, but I settled for Royal in the end. Maleficent is doomed to be slain by a sword, right? So am I saying that THE Malleus Draconia, who is infamously arrogant about his magical abilities, would lie down and take a stab like that? Of course not! However, I do think that Malleus is initially someone who values tradition and living up to noblesse oblige. As the future ruler of a nation, people's stories are relying on him to play his expected role out, which he'd be fully cognizant of. I also think Malleus would be afforded the luxury of not having to face his destiny as soon as his peers are due to his long life span. This is in part because the person destined to slay him doesn't come into his life for literally hundreds of years. Then when book 7 arrives, Malleus has to deal with his loved ones leaving and/or betraying him as well as the realization that this is his destiny: dying alone and unloved. That'd just break him.

EAH has so many good characters and interesting storylines, it's hard for me to pick a favorite! I of course love Apple and Raven's dilemmas, but I feel like it's cheating to pick one of them as my favorite. The whole Wonderland gang is also fantastic... I'm a sucker for their aesthetic, but they're so fun and silly in general. Kitty, Lizzie, and especially Madeline are 👌

Mmm, when I think long and hard about it, I think my favorite EAH character has to be Briar Beauty, daughter of Sleeping Beauty. Firstly, I love all the pink, roses, and bramble in her design. Secondly, I love the layers to why she is the way she is. Briar's a party girl not because "lmao, wouldn't that be a funny haha subversion of Sleeping Beauty" but because she wants to live life up before she falls asleep for 100 years and literally loses all her friends and family to the natural passage of time. That's seriously so smart and such an inventive way to think about the trauma a descendant of Sleeping Beauty might have. Seeing Briar transition from one of Apple's besties and biggest supporters to an outright rebel is satisfying as heck. (Gotta take a moment to shout out this classic moment :3)

I don't know if I would compare Briar to Jade since they're entirely different characters. However, looking at the source material, I'm actually surprised I like Briar as much as I do since I have never cared for the story of Sleeping Beauty. A part of me finds this ironic since Malleus harbors a similar fear as Briar (losing loved ones) yet I see Malleus's desire as way more selfish and self-serving than Briar's. I believe that's because Briar doesn't have the same arrogance as Malleus, so I'm more forgiving with her. EAH's actual equivalent to Malleus is Faybelle, daughter of the Dark Fairy, but I don't like her as much as I do Briar (hence why I'm comparing Malleus and Briar, not Malleus and Faybelle).

I haven't read the EAH books but I want to one day! I'd prefer to borrow them since I don't have enough space in my room for more physical books, so as soon as I find copies at a library or something...

This blog has kind of become a place where I occasionally talk about my other interests, generally as it relates to TWST, my main interest. I'd like to keep it like this since managing multiple blogs can be so draining. It already takes quite a bit of time to regularly write responses to asks just on one blog!

So there was some interest in my last Lorcana/Twisted Wonderland post, so I thought I'd add some of the other cards I find amusing in relation to Twist.

First up is Jafar:

One of the best combos you can get off is to have Jafar sing a Whole New World. It nets you 7 of the 20 Lore you need to win in one action. I've had a story on the back burner for a while, where Vil puts on a production of essentially their twisted version of Aladdin, that would have ended up with Jamil being the one to sing this song. (Cater would play the Genie, because he's the only one who could possibly come close given his clones)

Next up is Heartslabyul with the Queen of Hearts and the Card Soldiers, but as a major Cater fan I am sad the Card Soldier has *4 Hearts*

Also the idea of Chen’ya showing up just to make Riddle mad amuses me.

I will admit the fact that Vil dislikes "Wishing on Stars" and divination etc has always amused me given he is a stand in for the Evil Queen who was definitely into Astrology. (Also Cater’s favorite subject)

I finally gave into booktok and started reading the cruel prince and I LOVE IT.

I’m after reading Jude get ready for her ball at the start of the book. She’ll probably meet that Cardan dude everyone is obsessed with there.

Just so you know I’m gonna imagine Marcus Lopez from Deadly Academy as him. I know everyone already fancasts him as Matteo riddle but it was either that or Richard from the white queen and I think Marcus is way more mesmerising.

Twisted Wonderland OC: Blanche Queenie Rosehearts, inspired by the White Queen from 'Alice in Wonderland'.

Blanche, usually called Queenie, is Riddle's oldest twin sister- "Mother's favourite"- a very spoiled and twisted daughter, that finds joy in her brother's misery and pain.

Queenie was sent abroad for her studies, until she found out her brother became Heartslabyul's dormitory leader, and decided to transfer to NRC.

What is she planning next?

Okay I’ve been thinking about a Monster high x ever after high x twisted wonderland au because my three hyper fixations need to be somooshed together

So it’s starts with Raven falling into a wishing well and ending up in some sort of limbo field where she meets Frankie who happened to go through a portal or something (like a coffin) to get there.

And the only way the two of them can get out is through the one mirror (ramshackle’s mirror) that’s there.

Meanwhile in monster high everyone is worried about frankie, their searching far and wide to find her. Twyla and Rochelle find the coffin in the woods and everyone gathers and jumps in.

In ever after Apple is extremely worried that her friend has ran off to escape her destiny and gathers a few of the other girls to help find her

So they all end up falling in the well and finding the limbo field.

Back in twisted wonderland It’s Yuu and Malleus who discover the two girls and they decide to take them to Crowley

He decides to let them stay because of “he’ll find them a way home” or “it’ll take time for someone to come find you maybe” idk

Raven gets sorted into pomefiore and frankie ignihyde

The rest of the girls end up in twisted wonderland a few days later (time works differently in all three worlds but they are connected idk how yet)

Some are confused and some really like the new place (especially the monsters) and that’s how it starts!

Many of the students at night raven are extremely confused and worried about what the hell this means because ever since Yuu came shits been getting weirder there.

Rochelle and Twyla get sorted into Diasomnia along with Faybelle and briar

Cleo and Operetta get sorted into pomefiore along with holly and poppy

Ghoulia gets sorted into ignyhide

Howleen and Clawdeen get put in savannahclaw along with torelai and cerise

It’s pretty much an au where everyone sorts through their problems together and students get therapy go through love and loss with each other so their not alone.

It’s kinda set after the whole Octenvinelle story so you still have some of the overblots left and some of the ea/mh students end up going through them too

Whisp and Gigi are in this too and whisp is one of the reasons the mh students go through them.

Idk when I’ll write it but I’ll do it at some point soon maybe idk! But do lmk if you wanna see more!

How TWST DORM leaders react to "their" disney movie.

Azul sure would sing "Poor Unfortunate souls" if he thought he was alone. The Tweels would never let him forget it. Would take notes on Ursula's manipulation tactics. Would definitely try to use something like that for clients later. His favorite scene is definitely "poor unfortunate souls".

Leona wouldn't watch any movies with you after this. You wouldn't agree to that. Leona's favorite scene in the entire movie would be Mufasa's death. You would watch that scene really really REALLY many times. Would relate to scar a lot. Leona might fall asleep in the middle of the movie but wake up again at the end.

Malleus would really identify with the character of Maleficent. Malleus would understand the character and her reasons perfectly. You're not sure if you're sorry or worried about Malleus. He wouldn't appreciate how the movie portrays fae's. You can hear a little thunder outside. Malleus' favorite part would be when the prince wakes Rose from her sleep... Only because it would give him an idea of what he would like to do with you.

Idia would just enjoy the movie. He would definitely watch it with Ortho. Idia did not have a different opinion about the film. He would appreciate the humor in it though.

Vil would strongly question the cult status of "Snow White" as the first animated movie. Snow White looks too much like Neige in Vil's opinion. You should take breaks during the movie so that the Vil Neige quota is not filled. Vil's favorite part would be when Snow White eats an apple.

Kalim just enjoy the movie in peace. He would really cheer for Jasmin and Aladdin's relationship. Maybe he might sing along with "friend like me". It would be interesting to see how Kalim would react to certain scenes. His emotions would be clearly visible all the time. Kalim's favorite part would be the end of the movie. He likes happy endings.

Riddle would be a little disappointed that they wouldn't have included all the queen's rules in the movie. If they were, the movie should be muuuuuuuuuuch longer. Riddle would also point out when they didn't get the details right. Otherwise, he would enjoy the movie. His favorite scene would definitely be the cricket scene.

Since my RSA AU is growing strong here's some things for RSA! Heartslabyul boys (REMINDER: RSA AU IS BASICALLY WHERE CHARACTERS ARE OPPOSITE OF THEMSELVES)

RSA!Riddle (White Queen):

• In this AU his mom is still strict as fuck, BUT he decided that he'll run out to the fuck knows where (somehow survived on street (got later LATER adopted tho))

• His signature spell "Through the Looking Glass" is able to summon origami animal or object. He still has some problems controlling it when he wants to summon origami animal, for example he wants to summon origami bird but ends up with frog or other shit

• Street Smart but FOR SHIT NO BOOK SMART (Also probably dyslexic) (Give him a book and he will either destroy it or eat it out of frustration)

• Even when pissed off, he will smile in the most cute way possible (Dont believe guys with ':3' smile)

RSA!Ace (Alice):

• Often has hallucinations and is cut off out of reality most of the time, so he often misses things and overthinks what is real and what is not (and has paranoia)

• Is basically Pomni or Kinger from TADC 😭

• Is pretty strong when it comes to magic. Signature Spell (still without name lol) can break false realities, barriers and magical hallucinations (as long as he's aware those are not real (give this man his meds and he will be unstoppable GIVE HIM.)

• Will call you by 'Sir' or 'Ma'am', but often gets confused (We love him tho, he's sweet)

RSA!Trey (Mad Hatter):

• Is a lil bit insane (But who isn't 💀)

• His spell "We're All Mad Here" can change unanimated objects as he pleases to whatever amount he wants (often breaking laws of physics)

• Is basically Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony, minus the baking part (DO NOT LET HIS MAN INTO YOUR KITCHEN, DO NOT)

• WILL encourage you to do dumb shit :3 (and WILL join dumb shit)

RSA!Cater (Dinah):

• Acts as he's only normal here (he's kinda not, but cant blame him)

• After his family was moving so often, he just decided in Middle School he will live with someone from his friend group, somehow it got on Ace (at some point Cater was living in same city where Ace was and just decided to stay there) (Dinah and Alice... Hehe... Get it? Im so fucking hilarious)

• Has ZERO internet knowleadge, and speaks like old man

• Always has clock with himself to keep up with time (clock is 2 days late)

A/N: I didn't add Kalim or Jamil, because I feel their storyline is too much Aladdin & Jafar inspired already to do anything else with them.

— That was definitely a dislike from the first sight. He predicted you to be his future reason of headache as soon as the mirror sent you to the Heartslabyul;

— Riddle sees you as an air-headed fool, who only asks too many unnecessary things, daring to question the wishes of the Red Queen, instead of serving to your dorm as a proper student would do;

— You, from the other side, struggle with understanding what makes Riddle hate you so much. You were nothing but kind towards him, always suggesting to eat some sweets together, and trying to ask him to take a break from his studies to hang out with you or others;

— When he overhears that your signature spell makes you others to tell you the truth, Riddle is... Intimidated. He is afraid that you will use is against him, and so, he starts ignoring you more often.

Riddle doesn't even need to think twice to recognise a loud voice of Ace Trappola, another troublemaker in his form. He knows that he should just give him a punishment and leave for a lesson, but instead, he hides in the nearest bush, waiting to hear the rest of the conversation.

”Oh, Ace. You are being rude,” you mutter softly, sighing at your classmate. ”Perhaps, a housewarden doesn't like me, but this feeling is not necessarily mutual.”

Riddle raises his brows in surprise. Why, though? He is aware that his attitude is nothing but awful when it comes to you. He doesn't have a proper reason for that, either.

”You should, really,” Ace rolls his eyes. ”Dude has a problem with you liking white. And what else? Being nice?”

That isn't true. He is fine with you liking white—though, he admittedly got frustrated when you asked him on your first day why painting roses red, if they are prettier when they are white—and being nice. He just considers you too naive for this world.

”I think, you are... Misjudging him.”

That is right, Riddle mutters mentally. Tell him, Y/n.

”I think, the reason why housewarden is so... Let's say, annoyed by me, it is because I am everything he grew up hating and being restricted with. And it is harder, when something you should never be interested in, is nice and interesting. I think, housewarden is just confused.”

He feels his cheeks blushing furiously.

”And I think you are just being delusional,” Ace chuckles, patting your shoulder softly. ”Now, please, let's get out of here. I want to find Deuce.”

Riddle listens to the sound of your rushing steps, but he can't care less about it now. All he can do, is to recite your words, again and again.

Hello! Sorry to bother, I had this question in my mind for quite a while and it's starting to bug me a bit. I love Heartlabyul but there's things that I seem to have missed (or maybe the game never talked about them). Did they ever talk about Alice and/or the Mad Hatter? And also, who is the King of Hearts that Riddle talks about?

The main story scarcely has the NRC cast talking about Disney characters beyond the Great Seven. (The only ones I can recall off the top of my head are when the group visits the Atlantica Museum at the end of book 3 and when Idia mentions a hero diving into Tartarus to save his love; there are obvious references to King Triton, Sebastian, Hercules, Megara, etc.)

Most mentions of Disney characters are relegated to additional content (vignettes, events, and/or voice lines). The Platinum Jacket line vignettes in particular contain comments on various Disney characters, both heroes and villains. This is true of instances on which Heartslabyul talks about Alice in Wonderland characters besides the Queen of Hearts.

Cater comments on Alice’s plight in his Platinum Jacket vignettes; he says that she seems troublesome or like the type to not look before she leaps. In White Rabbit Fest, (an event yet to come out in EN), Deuce and co. go to a museum where they experience many of the same things that Alice did; they even make specific reference to a lost girl (Alice). Trey’s Platinum Jacket mentions the Cheshire Cat, Ace comments on the oysters the Walrus ate in his own Platinum Jacket, Deuce tells the story of the White Rabbit for his hometown event, etc. These instances are scattered around and take some digging to find if you’re seeking a reference to a certain Disney character.

The King of Hearts is brought up via a voice line. More specifically, Riddle’s Suitor Suit card. He says that the Queen of Hearts had a happy marriage with her husband and that he wishes she would share the secret of a happy marriage with his own parents, which implies the Mr. and Mrs. Rosehearts have marital issues. If you’ve seen the Disney film, the King of Hearts is depicted as a small and timid man who cannot stand up to his wife, the Queen of Hearts. In the original book, the King is more juvenile and reckless than timid. When Riddle talks about the King of Hearts, he is referring to that.

She nods, walking forward to grasp your hands. Her hands are cold to the touch. “I’m sorry for bringing you here, but I could not bear to leave them alone.”

“You brought me here?”

“I never woke up that morning,” she responds. “I know it is selfish of me to pull you from your world to take my place. If you wish to leave, you may. But I beg of you to reconsider.”

You wrap her into a hug, tears pricking your eyes. For the first time, you actually understood her. Her love, her pain, her loss. You want to tell her how much you love Daemon, Rhaenyra, and the kids. Nothing comes out, but you feel as though she can understand you without words. “You’ve given me so much.”

She pulls away from you, wiping your tears. “Thank you.” The wind picks up, blowing leaves between you both. She disappears as they pass. You reach out to ask her to wait, but your hand hits something hard. You’re back in the godswood, hand on the heart tree.

“What did you see?” the witch asks.

“Everything,” you breathe softly. Your hand drifts to your chest, as if you could soothe the pounding of your heart. “I saw everything.” 

“Where is she now? We must return you both.”

You shake your head. “She is gone. She asked me to stay.” 

“You cannot simply take the place of another. You do not belong here.” 

“We are all pieces of ourselves,” you say, throwing the witch’s own words back to her. She sighs, shaking her head. 

“Surely there is something, someone, in your world that you would miss,” she offers. “Are you sure that you would leave all of that behind to stay here?”

You hesitate. As much as you love your family here, you had never considered the possibility that going home was an option. Would you really be able to give up your former life for the family you found here? 

“I don’t have much there,” you answer. “My past is done, and my future is here.”

She nods, “I understand. If you reconsider, return to the godswood. I will be waiting.” 

“Thank you.” 

The witch waves you away. “Return to your dragons, they are looking for you.”

As she waves her hand, the quiet of the godswood is cut short as you hear several people yelling your name. Daemon and Rhaenyra must be looking for you. “I’m here!”
