Just had a thought about some of the reactions for 8x16.

Personally, I loved the episode. Often times, when a character is killed off in a show, the show flounders a bit in the aftermath. But I think they honored Bobby so well with this episode. And no we didn't see everyone's grief up front and center, but it was still there. Even Eddie with his 2mins of screen time is clearly grieving. We're catching them two weeks post death so the immediate emotionality is definitely not as sharp, but it's definitely still there. No one is okay and if anyone thinks they are, then they weren't paying attention.

Leaving aside that so many people had convinced themselves Bobby was still alive, a lot of people have issues with the episode's focus on just Athena and Chim and it hit me that it isn't just because their favorite character didn't display grief the way they wanted them to or because they weren't the focus, it's at least partially because they're realizing that actually 8x17 and 8x18 is still going to be about the grieving process and the show isn't moving past Bobby's death onto something else.

Now those of us that read Tim's interviews know that's why he placed the death in 8x15, and while we won't know until the end of 8x18 if he nails the aftermath, so far it seems like he is. But he gave himself three episodes to see where everyone lands after the death...the funeral has just taken place, none of them are over losing Bobby and we'll see that focus shift to the other characters even while Athena and Chim will probably still be prominent.

Now I'm not saying it will all be about Bobby, but that will hang heavy over everything and we'll see how everyone is dealing. So yeah, Buck wasn't crying all over the place...but he also was still upset. So was Hen. So was Ravi. So was Eddie. So was Maddie. So was Karen. So was Tommy.

And while Buck and Tommy could get back together in the middle of this because that's what the show is showing and telling us could happen, buddie canon S8 is dead in the water (I mean, when wasn't it).

Bobby's death didn't magically make Eddie realize he's gay. It also didn't magically make Eddie in love with Buck. It definitely didn't have Buck realizing anything about his friendship with Eddie. And without that, of course some parts of this fandom hate the episode and hate that any time was given to Tommy or to Athena's investigation into that baby's death or even to Chim, and definitely to Gerrard. Bobby's death could have been acceptable to them if it was the way buddie got together, but since that didn't happen suddenly it's a waste of an arc and this is not the show that kills off characters.

If we had had even one scene where Eddie and Buck do just about anything together this would have been the best episode ever. Instead, the show decided to not do that and also to not have Buck and Tommy interact. They clearly said this is not about ships, it's about Bobby. Notice how BTs by and large have not had any issue with that at all even while some still have doubts about if Buck and Tommy will get back together. I haven't seen one person say that they wished they had interacted.

Like, we genuinely do not know with 100% certainty that Tommy will be in either 8x17 or 8x18. We can hope that's the case, but we have no real proof. We do know Eddie is in both episodes. So while I get some of the ire at Eddie having so little screentime as a main character, this episode was about Bobby and Athena and also Chim. And it seems like we'll get more about everyone else in the coming episodes.

So to see people upset that this single episode didn't dwell into everyone's grief...it does make me wonder how much that's about them not caring about Bobby enough to want it to carry into two more episodes because they have some hope that something else -something they want - might happen. And those hopes have been dashed.

I’ve never read the stranger and I’m so curious about the Marie thing because I honestly don’t hear much about the two’s relationship outside of Meursault liking boobs.

RIGHT i was kind of curious because what i knew from friends going into the book was really kind of. the boobs? while it feels like limbus fans have always been REALLY excited about her in the way we were about other "love interest" characters (queequeg who was obviously going to be one of the most important characters in c5, being so defining of ishmael and of the homosexual subtext in moby-dick, and catherine whom we knew since release was at the crux of heathcliff's story as she is in wh) to the point i see her added to so many ship charts as an otp for meursault, so i was wondering if she really had such a cool and interesting dynamic that everyone was looking forward to it so much despite there having been no hint at her even existing. granted i'm excited at the thought of penelope since odypen is an incredibly important part to the odyssey (despite being. very aware there's no way we're getting a canon lesbian marriage 😭) even if nothing has hinted at her either...

so now i finished it and YEAH basically. to spoil an 80 year old novel- yeah the extent to their relationship is that they go to the movies, they go swimming together and they have sex. there is some stray moments where meursault shows a slight interest in her as a person (like wanting to know where she's going when she says she's busy, but then not thinking about asking her, i thought that bit was kind of endearing) and by the end when he's in prison he associates the thought of her to that of freedom, but beside that... 🤷‍♂️? there is no actual "dynamic" the way i expected from seeing people talking about limbus meursault's potential relationship with her.

THE metaphorical level of their relationship is INTERESTING- while i haven't done readings about it yet, i do think basically every character in the book is readable as representing a type of institution and the absurdity and corruption of it, so marie represents a very bleak (but realistic!) look on the institution of marriage and of romantic love at all. meursault has moments where he thinks/learns about a couple other relationships, that of his neighbour salamano with his late wife, and of his mom with her "boyfriend" at the hospice. in both cases the concept that is observed is that humans like to have a companion, especially as they grow older and weaker. salamano didn't care much for his wife, but when she died he felt lonely, so he got a dog instead. similarly, meursault never knew his father, but put his mom in the hospice when he realized they didn't have anything to tell each other- she resented him, but there she made friends and became close with a man. it's a thing all about convenience, in a sense. the relationship with marie too is framed in this context: meursault enjoys spending time with her and enjoys the sex, but anything else isn't relevant to him. his life is defined by the physical experience, the rest is... well, not serious!

as for marie herself, i think she's... and you'll forgive me for being dismissive of a female character-- vapid? i feel like that's the most accurate word sdtgyhufjdkg. it's not her fault, we see her through meursault's eyes, which means her interiority is kind of limited, but i think that is the idea. she is nice, she likes swimming, she smiles a lot, she is vaguely bothered by meursault's behavior and the fact he doesn't really love her or consider her special, but not enough to leave him. i think that too is supposed to be commentary on how love and marriage is something sought after out of a need and convenience more than anything sentimental, because it is considered the way one (especially a woman!) must lead a normal life.

so at the end: i'm genuinely not sure where this idea of marie as one of the "love interest" characters is coming from... but! i'm incredibly curious to see how canto 10 adapts the concepts she's tied to. considering the city doesn't really have like... well i guess the entire patriarchal structure of Marriage And Kids -and in fact we know canonically for some people (like fixers) it's widely considered a bad idea- i am really thinking they might not make her a character at all, unless there's some stuff specific to n corp. that meursault is going to explore. even if they adapted her, her role, like in the book, should be to reflect on meursault's indifference to life, his struggle to connect with the world, because that world IS weird and disconnected, much like he is. a good marie should reflect that as well i think.

Ah yes hi hello! I have a bit of a ramble and some info about line dynamics in hrpf if you don't mind? I should probably get my research tgt and read and do a crazed metapost lol.

I don't have a lot of hockey technical sense yet (<- beginner in exam season who has a backlog to study and redearch, lol) but I do think hrpf deals with a lot of line dynamics but subconsciously. A lot of pairings aren't just based on history as the major part, but also on built-in assumptions of how the dynamic must be based on position, or interestingly, how it could've been for childhood friends.

Its not addressed very often though, it goes in as a sort of subconscious or if some is thinking about it, its a behind the scenes element, and it does not scales directly in proportion to fic size.

A lot of hockey pairings have trends where a lot of forward only pairings have to be lineys, or a couple's chemistry in a trade fic being reinforced by them being each other's liney and having the chem to be a good line. dmen/goalie pairings are rarer, as are forward/goalie pairings from my tag scrolling. They are a bit more varied but operate on a sense of protectiveness quite often. A la king/knight pairings almost.

Goalie/goalie operates on a sense of connection based on a game view and therefore worldview no one else gets, but authors don't incorporate it intentionally too often, as far as they say in notes atleast. D-partners are very very close devotional pairings usually, and as such every position pairings has a set of assumptions it comes with, an almost internalised intuition for the average hockey rpf writer.

Essentially, in hrpf, if you go deep, the line mate is sacred. They are delegated to a special status that often creates pairings but also have been relegated to a dynamic that is not in competition with the ship itself if the other player isnt a liney, because it's absolutely sacred friendship/connection/whst ever. It is often explored in longer fics or ones with certain premises, and the space loves the dynamics but doesn't always address it actively outside of certain premises, aus, and fic types (like trade fics + variants, soulmates, or character studies.)

you'll find these trends more with certain pairings and certain draft classes/eras of hockey as well. This is so long. I am so sorry. Take my words with a grain of salt and some idea hat this is in now way a very deep glance, but thatd the overall impression for someone in hrpf spaces for a while and studies in literary analysis, haha. I think the reason people thought sam x danny felt "Forced" wasn't because it "came out of nowhere", but more that the show talked about it so much throughout all three seasons that it was basically shoving your nose into the mess you made on the floor every chance it got.

It wouldn't be as bad if, say, Danny and Sam has more genuine moments together. To their credit, there are a few- but when you're writing romance (esp if he was a boy, she was a girl- can I make it anymore obvious?) people WILL tell if you're only forcing them together because a show needs a romance subplot, and not because they actually complete each other.

What makes ships like GrayGhost (Valerie x Danny) interesting is that these two characters have a very complex and layered relationship with one another. Val starts off a bit standoffish to the trio when she was still a popular girl, but starts warming up to Danny after she's let go. THEN you have the whole other layer of huntress!Val vs Danny Phantom that makes it extra sticky.

Its GREAT because we as the audience were able to see their dynamic constantly growing and changing before the prospects of romance was even brought up a few episodes later.

With Sam and Danny, it was always "Ha ha these two like each other!!"

...Why? Why do they like each other? Because they're hormonal teenagers and Sam is the only girl Danny knows besides his own sister? Because when you put it like THAT, it doesn't sound as good now does it? Making two characters blush randomly isn't enough. We need to actually KNOW what qualities they value in one another.

Then you have the whole aspect of "Sam is more attracted to Danny PHANTOM than Danny FENTON contextually" -- which COULD have been interesting if they actually approached the idealization Sam had towards Phantom while completely disregarding Danny as a whole person. Like if thats the path they took with the ship, I'd be totally into it. But no, with them getting canned when they did, they kinda just brushed that aspect under the rug, never to be seen again.

This isn't me bashing Sam x Danny as a concept, I think it had a LOT of potential that was fumbled by the fact that Sam herself was barely allowed to even act like a real person. Butch wanted her to be goth Louis Lane and thats all he wrote!!

It's genuinely quite frustrating when certain fans try to dismiss the importance and buildup elucien has had due to their recency bias. Like I'm sorry elucien has been a thing since book TWO, if you really have been paying attention - you know THEIR book is next. Let's put some respect on their names and have some self awareness when it comes to your own ship biases.

I just think it's so odd that, when Sarah first started talking about wanting to write books for the sisters someday and was then signed on for the books, when she said "I know who the first two books will be about but I'm leaving open the third and possibly want to write a book set in the past", the fandom would have collectively agreed that during the release of ACOWAR, the first two spin-off books would almost certainly be: Nesta and Elain (with Elain's endgame being either Lucien or Az). During the release of ACOFAS, I imagine the fandom would have collectively agreed the first two spin-offs were going to be Nesta's and Elains with the only discrepancy being in her love interest.

So that means from 2017 all the way up until 2021, it was not talked about that Az would feature in the second spin-off with another love interest who wasn't Elain. But suddenly, all those years of Sarah plotting and planning on who the first two spin-offs were going to be about no longer mattered with the addition of Gwyn's character. Suddenly, there being someone special for Lucien (said in a Q & A) wasn't as important as there first being someone special for Az. Suddenly Az wanting his own mate means more than Lucien going through it with his actual mate. Suddenly Elain's story and trauma can take a backseat because a new character also has trauma and that's more important right now.

I'm not saying Sarah can't or won't write Gwynriel next but the mentality of why some think Elucien can't be next baffles me. Years upon years of there being setup for Nesta's story and Elain's story and that's all undone by one new character. When it seemed clear she had no real direction for Az in ACOWAR or the novella but because she now does, it suddenly trumps all else. All the times she talked about Elain's book and the research she'd done and the seeds she planted early on and it no longer matters? She might wait to go on a journey with a specific couple as she's writing their book but she still has an overarching plot in mind and certain characters have been connected to that overarching plot more than others since way back when. So why when she only now decided to give Az a tie to certain (new) plotlines (time-travel / discovering who once had TT), with most of it being in a different series, does that mean that he is definitely next? That his newly introduced possible plots have jumped the line so that Elain's trauma can wait, Lucien's heritage can wait, Vassa being taken back by Koschei? She can suck it up for a bit right? The Spring Court people are fine to continue living in a court that's falling apart while being ruled by a severely depressed High Lord so long as Az can figure out why he's got his special dagger.

If Eluciens story can be pushed back, then why can't Az's?

It's not that Az's book can't be next, it's the thinking with such certainty that he's definitely next with no chance for anyone else and they mock Elucien's for being delusional thinking Elucien would actually make a lot of sense for being next.

Yes, he was heavily mentioned in SF and yes, Gwyn was too. But what exactly would Lucien be doing in Cassian's book? Why would Elain be in Nesta's book when Sarah wrote Nesta as avoiding her and not wanting to see her? The one time Elain did head to the HOW Cassian told Rhys maybe it was better for the sisters to stay away and it's not surprising, when Nesta tried to blame Elain for being the reason their father was killed that she chose to avoid her after that.

Do you think Gwyn would have had as much page time had Nesta told her she was to blame for her sisters death?

Sarah wrote Elain out of the story so that Nesta could heal because Nesta was never going to become her own person so long as she was constantly watching over Elain.

Using the lack of Elain and Lucien page time in a Nesta and Cassian book as proof of something is an odd viewpoint. Do you think we'll have many mentions of Az or Gwyn in their book if Elucien is next? Or Elain's name count being high up there if Gwynriel is next?

And again, if people think Elain and Lucien's story can be pushed back despite all the traction they had in ACOWAR then why can't Gwynriel also be put on pause?

I do think Gwynriel is still a possibility, but not because they'd be the logical choice based off years upon years of what all the books have set up and her comments on the order of the spin-offs. If they're next then to me it really is because Sarah decided to chuck her original (fairly clear) plan out the window, where the spin-offs were meant to deal with the politics of after the war, and go in a wild new direction. Where time travel is now the more relevant plot for the ACOTAR series though it was never the focus for the 4 books prior and never mentioned in connection with Koschei or the Human Queens before (it still hasn't been mentioned in relation to them).

I noticed two interesting things while watching episode 816.

The first is the development of Tommy’s character. Other fans have pointed this out too, but it's worth emphasizing: Lou is a guest star, which means he gets paid per episode. So unless a storyline specifically requires his presence, there's no real reason to include him—especially after he and Buck broke up. Despite that, he appeared in episodes 811, 815, and 816. We’ve continued to see this push and pull dynamic between Buck and Tommy, as if they're on the edge of reconciling. Episode 816 was particularly interesting because he didn’t even appear in the present timeline—he showed up in a flashback from eight years ago, where he was saving Bobby. During the funeral, he was shown as one of the pallbearers, grouped together with the other 118 members. This made me feel like Tommy is being expanded into a character with his own narrative arc, rather than just being simplified as Buck’s li. While it felt like the writers had no idea how to use Tommy during 8A, 8B feels like they’ve finally figured out a plan for him.

The second thing is that it feels like Tim has closed the door on Buddie. I always thought Tim never intended to make Buddie canon, but he kept dropping bait to keep Buddie fans engaged. Even in Aisha's interview about 811, Tim seemed to want to leave room for interpretation. But in 816, he gave no room at all. Of course, it's risky to make such a judgment based on just one episode, but if Tim wanted to bait Buddie again, 816 gave him plenty of chances. At the very least, he could have had Buck and Eddie hug—but the only interaction between them was, "I should’ve been there.", "Hey, You're here now". After this episode, I saw quite a few Buddie fans finally realizing that Tim has no intention of making them canon. It feels like he’s trying to wrap up existing storylines and rebuild the show in a new direction.

Of course, we still need to see how episodes 817 and 818 play out. But 8A felt like a chaotic mess with no clear story direction, whereas 8B feels like a completely different season. Bobby’s death is incredibly sad, but in a way, it feels like it breathed new life into the show. To be honest, I still have doubts about Tim’s storytelling abilities. However, at the very least, he seems to be trying to keep the show alive by not relying too heavily on one specific character. Even if a major character leaves, he’s finding ways to make the show survive through the remaining characters and by introducing new ones.

I will add to your first point that they did build on Tommy's character whilst reminding the audience of his connection with Buck. Granted, it is not outright stated in 816, but it is in the previous episodes. And even in this one, we can try to read between the lines and see Maddie and Buck's moment as could-be foreshadowing (the I love you part, I mean). So the show is constantly building on Tommy and Bucktommy, even if in the background. Which, you know - very interesting.

To your second point - I will add that it is interesting that the one scene they could've had alone, they didn't. They had Ravi with them , and whilst it did feel natural, it is also a statement to have Eddie stay with Buck, yet not give us a scene of them together. Of course, we don't know if 817 or 818 will give us a (platonic, ofc) scene between them, but to have such a big episode that relied a lot on connection... it surely is a choice*

Lastly, I still think 8a was a bit of a mess (it had its good moments, mainly -for me- 805), but 8b is picking up on themes that 8a insinuated, and in turn making it look better. This half of the season is definitely much stronger (which I'm relieved by ngl).

*And I am not saying this from a shipping perspective. I think it was the right choice to not focus on any romantic B-plots, or anything that could hint at more. But I don't think Buddie has that type of scene, so I'm strictly referring to a friendship scene, the way we had it with multiple other characters - including Eddie and Ravi.

Fav character: Leo or Donnie, but for very different reasons. Leo is such a fun character to pick apart and psychoanalyze (not that you can't do that with Donnie, I just love my leo angst) and his complex insecurities are so fun to play off of for me (also personally he's a very easy character to get into the mindset of), also I heavily kin him. But I adore Donnie's chaotic attitude and violent goofy nature, he's more of a comfort character for me personally because every time he's something chaotic or stupid or silly it just makes me giggle (and I know that Leo in Donnie are really popular and overshadow Raph and Mikey but I dunno there's just something about those two that makes them a great punching bag for trauma but also incredibly goofy that just puts an itch in my brain)

Least favorite: Meat Sweats, there's nothing necessarily wrong with him I just find him kind of annoying

Character I think is attractive: DONNIE! DONNIE! DONNIE!!! Also Frida and April, GOD DAMN THEY'RE GORGEOUS. I always have to tell my girlfriend that her competition is a silly little goofy purple turtle with a large ass forehead and long list of federal crimes.

Fav villain: From the show I think i'd be Big Mama because I think she just had so much potential as a villain, but from the movie, the Krang definitely, cuz again I love angst and the Krang sure delivered my angst in the movie

Least Fav villain: Oh uh, does captain Piel count? Idk never really cared about him

Fav duo: Disaster twins, 100% Again I'm sorry I know that like everyone likes them and a lot of people kind of think they're overrated, I don't think that's the right wording. Anyways I'm sticking by my choice because Idk, I think I just I have a thing for the twin dynamic, also since in the actual show Leo was the one that Donnie showed the least affection too, like physical and what not, a lot of it was more sibling banter, which I also love but it also just tugs at my heart everytime I see fanart of Leo breaking down and Donnie comforting him OR DONNIE BREAKING DOWN AND LEO COMFORTING THEM, I just eat it up. But for second it's automatically Brains and Brawns because AHHH there adorable, also cuz of my personal headcanons

Why I like Rottmnt: Oh boy, get ready for an infodump. So I always knew about the TMNT franchise since I was really young because my brother was an avid lover of 2012 but it never really caught my eye (but then again I was watching Paw Patrol at that age so, yeah). Plus I think I remember watching a clip from the high school dance episode on youtube when I was bored. But I truly discovered Rise last year while I was watching tiktok compilations on spotify, I saw it and like I was intrigued by all the angst stuff so I looked it up on youtube and here I am. From an artistic standpoint the show is just beautiful and great to look at. The colors, the animation, the character designs, the style, it's all amazing! Also the comedy, which people tend to compare to Teen Titans Go. Which is not true because while yes it is silly and goofy, it's humor is done in the right way and it's also so much than that. Now the biggest reason for me is the psychology, if that makes sense. I love shows with complex arcs, character dynamics, and storylines, things I can really pick apart and play with. But out of those 3 things the most interesting thing for me is character dynamics. In Rise (I only have 2012 to compare it to since that's only other one if watched a good amount of), you can tell all the brothers love each other, that splinter loves them and that they love splinter. They have a strong bond that's affected in so many different ways due to there contrasting personalities and insecurities and what not, it makes for such compelling sibling dynamics because it's so obvious that they all love each other, but they don't always like each other, sometimes they can all be really annoying and I just adore how accurately the show portrays sibling dynamics. I love my brother so much, put that doesn't mean that we haven't fought and been nothing but a pain in each others asses, he was sure a pain in my ass all of last year, but it doesn't matter because he's my brother. Now comparing this to 2012 which I've watched like 4 out of the 7 seasons of, I did not like the turtles dynamics. Now recently I did see someone pointing out that while Rise portrays healthy sibling dynamics, 2012 portrays toxic ones, and I had never thought of that before which really gave me a new respect for the show. But I still don't like the dynamics, I hate how everyone shits on Raph's anger problems, I hate how everyone always plays Mikey off as stupid and reckless, I HATE DONNIE'S WHOLE PERSONALITY AND HOW HE TREATS APRIL, and I dunno, I don't think I have a problem with Leo, I haven't watched the show in a while so I might be wrong, I also don't like the way Splinter acts towards the boys. AND I'M NOT SAYING THAT 2012 IS A BAD SHOW!! IT'S A GREAT SHOW!! I think the storylines are cool, I think the villains are incredible, I adore Casey and Karai (April can go find a hole to wither away in), the action is amazing, and yes the dynamics are very complex, just not complex in the way I personally like but that doesn't mean their not good. Uh... I just realized how long this was... welp! I'm done anyways!

Doomed yaoi but it's not concurrent, and it's not redeemable. Doomed yaoi but it once was the silly dreams of two teenage boys almost flunking college, spending their time up on the rooftops with their heads in each other's laps; Their legs hanging off of the sides of buildings, talking about their hopes for the future in what are now distant conversations. Doomed yaoi that, after going down separate paths in the past, eventually reconverged with one having gone astray, down a path of irreversible toxicity. Doomed yaoi that eventually ends in a conversation, minutes before a world that's inflicted nothing but hurt and pain on certain people falls apart.

could you tell me more about why you dislike femskk?

okay disclaimer before i begin: this is not meant to be a dig on every person who enjoys femskk. the biggest reason i don't like it is honestly because it's just not my cup of tea and honestly it really makes no difference to me if other people like it. but beyond that my biggest issues with it are

1. the phenomenon of fans "yuri-ifying" the most popular m/m ship and then using that to prove they like female characters and f/f ships. this is not a bsd-exclusive thing; it happens with stsg too and i don't like femstsg for the same reason. but there's a big difference between actually liking female characters and just genderbending (or even making transfem) the big m/m ship. i literally went to the f/f category in bsd on ao3 the other day looking for fics and about half of them are skk fics instead of fics about like. the actual female characters in bsd. who i was looking for fics of. similarly, there have been some redraw trends going around twitter - specifically the i prefer girls cover redraw - and i have seen. i don't even know how many femskk redraws of that (along with a couple femfyolais and a femrimlaine) but only one redraw with actual female characters from bsd. same with the scene 14 redraw that was going around, and while that one wasn't originally two female characters, i have still seen significantly more femskk (and femsigzai, femsigchuu, femfyolai, etc) than i have ships with even one character who is female in the source material.

and imo this phenomenon is made even worse in the bsd fandom bc so many fans just see bsd as the skk show. so of course they're writing off the actual female characters; they literally don't care about anything besides skk. and obviously i can't do anything to force anyone to care about other characters but like.... bsd has so many other wonderful characters and dynamics (both romantic and platonic) that a good half of the fanbase won't even glance at because they're not skk. i do like skk, but bsd is about so much more than just them. they are, objectively, only one small part of it. like if you only care about skk, then just be outright about it and don't pretend you're "proving" you like female characters and sapphic ships bc you like femskk too

2. of the fans who only like skk and nothing else about bsd, most of them. don't even characterize dazai and chuuya correctly? i think the some of the best skk characterizations i've seen have been from people who actually like other characters and ships too, and some of the worst skk characterization i've seen has come from people who literally don't care about any other ships or characters. this isn't a hard and fast rule obviously but even with 30k skk fics on ao3, i have struggled to find ones that actually feel true to their characters. and the characterization seems to only get worse when it's femskk. if you're just going to turn femdazai and femchuuya into two completely different people, what's the point in it even being skk? why not write k.ousano or h.igugin or even a ship with one canonically female character? if you have to change the core characteristics of both dazai and chuuya... do you even really like them?

3. about femdazai: i actually don't mind the transfem dazai headcanon in general but most fans get her wrong. i made a post about it here but basically so many times i see femdazais that are just. completely unrecognizable as dazai. you can't strip away core aspects of dazai like idk the fact that dazai doesn't show any skin from neck to toe just because you made her a girl. i have seen some femdazai that's good! but i have seen so much that is just fundamentally wrong for dazai's character as a whole. mostly on twitter.

4. about femchuuya: i really truly just don't get femchuuya. i THINK the hype here is probably bc lesbians seem to get attached to chuuya (which. valid. i am also a lesbian chuuya fan.) and so they want to draw a chuuya they can be attracted to (i.e. femchuuya) which like. cool whatever i'm not here to judge. but looking at it from a "would this character actually identify as female" perspective, i don't actually think i can picture that for chuuya. maybe it's just because i so strongly hc them as nonbinary? idk. this one is honestly just a neutral "i don't see that but you do you"

tl;dr: from what i've seen, femskk is often mischaracterized, and genderbending the big m/m ships in a fandom is often a way fans "prove" they like the female characters and f/f ships while not actually caring about anything other than their main m/m ship
