Whatâs Love Got to Do with It
(oberyn x f!reader)Â wc: 4.6k | other ficsÂ
note: hey yâall itâs me ya gurl, here to defile another prompt with a silly idea <3 Sooo, from the three brain cells that brought you fuckboy!joel and divorced dad rock dilf!joel đ«Ąi now humbly present âŠ. Frat bro Oberyn, Aka The Red Viper, aka the Prince of Pong, aka the Slut of Delta Psi (i did steal the frat name from the film Neighborsâin which they do sing a line from Creed in their frat chant, so in some twisted way, theyâre kind of all connected right??)Â
I fear this may have just been funny to me so feel free to skip, but thank you to everyone who tolerates my shenanigans <3.Â
ANYWAY, The lovely @baronessvonglitter bestowed upon me Oberyn x Whatâs Love Got to Do with It for fucktober (happy belated bday babe) but naturally, i made it weird. Thanks to @sunshinehaze1 for reminding me that modern AUs exist when I got scared of the GOT universe and to @auterdelabre for reminding me that the answer is always fuckboy. Donât blame them for anything else.
Summary: You attend a fraternity toga party, and you catch the eye of Delta Psiâs notorious Red Viper. He shows you how he got the nickname and then he shows you something else heâs known for.Â
tags/warnings: explicit 18+ smut, alcohol/partying, gratuitous flirting, piv, fuckboy behavior aka on to the next one, infidelity, i couldnât bring myself to write his dialogue in frat broâą âaka i didnât fully commit to the bit bc that man just had to be smooth and had to fuck no matter what universe i put him in, apologies if that ruins your immersion in my pwp, per usual: no y/n, f!reader is able bodied otherwise no specifics, unprotected piv as if itâs no biggie because itâs fiction (donât do that irl), no beta/limited proofreading sorry for all mistakesÂ
âOh my god, thatâs him!â Your best friend shouts into your ear as you walk down the sidewalk. You blend into the sea of toga-clad college kids, sandals slapping against the pavement. Liv leans on you, pointing out the guy sheâs talking about. You can hear the music pouring out into the street and people inside yelling and chanting over someone doing a keg stand or something equally as exciting and alcohol-related, you assume.Â
The guy she pointed out is leaning casually against the banister, letting some ripped blond dude entertain him on the porch. âThatâs the guy your roommate was talking about?â you question your friend. Liv agrees with a smile as you walk towards the front steps.Â
Everyone else on the porch looks like a frat bro wrapped in a wrinkly bedsheet, but for some reason, he seems almost godlike. Heâs luminous under the warm lights. As if he knew you were checking him out, he turns his head just as you walk past, and his eyes sweep over you, making your face hot. Something sparks between you before he turns away, taking a swig of his drink.Â
Liv had given you a rundown on what to expect at your first Delta Psi party. You had argued that you knew what college parties were like. You transferred this quarter as a senior, and you just didnât have Greek life at your other school or your best friend to convince you to go out. But now, youâre here, dressed up and entering a party that really does feel a little more intense than the ones back at your small-town university.Â
Livâs roommate had given you the rundown on the guys she knew in the fraternity, but you didnât pay much attention to her descriptions. You figured there was no way a Brad, Dylan, Connor, or a Brent would actually be hot. And then, when she started with the ones with nicknames, you completely checked out after Viper and Rooster. It has to defy the laws of nature for a frat bro that goes by Rooster to be able to find your clitâeven if he IS hot.Â
Yet, now you realize you might be eating your words because you get it. You were too quick to judge, whoops. âWhich one was that?â you ask in Livâs ear as you both make your way through the people sloshing drinks and dancing.Â
âViper!âÂ
You canât help the immediate grimace that emerges on your face. âThatâs so douchey!â you shout back over the noise before she pulls you down a hall toward that kitchen. She leans in close to your ear, telling you that her roommate swears she got the best head of her life from him. âNo fucking way,â you argue.Â
âWay,â she smirks back. âHeâs got a girlfriend now, though. Theyâre, like, totally in love, itâs all over social media.â She mocks puking at the idea, and you share a laugh.
You explore the party together. The house is huge; one room on the main floor is blasting EDM, and another is blasting top 40 hits. There are a couple of beer pong tables in the backyard and a detached garage filled with stoners on old couches giggling to themselves. You know that Liv is itching to park her ass on one of those sofas and find a girl or guy to whom she can woo with her French inhale and makeout with for the rest of the night.Â
But, sheâs a loyal ass bitch who wouldnât abandon you. You circle back through the house. You spend a little while dancing together and taking your time to see if thereâs anyone else who catches your eye. Nobody really sticks out to you in the first room until you catch his eyes again. You have to do a double-take as you circle your waist and roll your body against Liv.Â
Heâs semi-shrouded in the corner; with the dim lighting and the packed house, it would be easy to miss the two of them altogether. But when the girl clinging to him turns around to grind her ass against him, he locks eyes with you, and you swear that fucker winks at you before a group of girls prance into the room, shouting oh my god, itâs our song! You try to shake it off. You were definitely just seeing things with the lights.Â
You signal to Liv, and she follows you into the other room. You dance together a bit longer. She offers you a swig from her rhinestone-encrusted flask, but you turn her down, staying sober tonight. You feel euphoric enough with the strobe lights and the thrumming bass from the EDM remixes blasting in the room.Â
You turn down a few wasted white dudes who try to dance up on the two of you. Too drunk. Not your type. Too handsy. Youâre not afraid to punch a man in the throat or the nuts if they donât get the hint, but they back off when you give them a gentle shove and a shake of your head. The most recent suitor is turning and scoping for another girl to approach when you see him again.Â
Heâs moving towards you, looking right at you, but thereâs no girl on his armâor crotch, now. For some reason, it makes you feel too hot. Youâre sweating from the dancing anyway, so you ignore the electric look in his eye that makes your clit twitch and grab Livâs arm to make a dash for the backyard to get some fresh air.Â
You debrief with each other and come to an agreement. You tell Liv to do her thing, urging her to head towards the couch with the skater dude wearing the toga made from a dinosaur patterned sheet and the high-top vans. She agrees to text you if she plans to relocate or wants to leave before you finish taking another lap around the party.Â
You sort of lie to her, claiming someone inside caught your eye. They did, but you arenât planning to do anything about it. Instead, you part ways and head back through the house, past the pledge posing as a bouncer at the front door, and onto the front porch. The music is still loud, but itâs quieter out front. People still trickle in and out of the party. You stare out at the night sky, searching for the moon. In your own little world, youâre basking in your own peace.Â
âI havenât seen you here before,â a rich, velvety voice washes over your shoulder. It should make you jerk away, give you goosebumps, and raise your hackles. But, instead, the interruption stirs liquid heat in your core and makes your nipples hard. Because itâs him.Â
You turn your head and confirm. Heâs so close to you.Â
âYou know every girl here?â you challenge him.Â
âI know the ladies and gentlemen that pique my curiosity,â his voice is so smooth. Heâs a charmer, for sure. He offers you a drink, holding out two plastic cups in one hand. The size of his hand does make you tingly, but his smile falters when you shoot him one of your signature dirty looks.Â
Before he can ask about the look, you take one of the cups, give him a cloyingly sweet smile, and pour it out over the railing into the grass below. The tail of his brow quirks, and he gives you a sly smile that widens into a grin and a full-chested laugh. âOops,â you mock.Â
âYouâre a bold woman,â he muses, âI like that.âÂ
He doesnât back down after you toss out his drink. He doesnât take it as a rejection. He understands when you explain you donât take open drinks from strangers at a frat party, but you roll your eyes hard when he gloats about not needing tricks or drugs to find a lover.Â
He banters with you as he downs the remaining drink. Heâs quick, with sharp wit and a devious smile. You canât keep your eyes off his exposed chest, his arms, his neck, his eyes. Itâs still confusing how he can look so regal, whereas everyone else in the party looks a littleâŠgoofy? Cliche? He pulls you back to the present, asking for your name before he gives you his.Â
âThey call me âthe Red Viper,ââ he gives you a provocative grin like he knows exactly how hot he looks, even with a bedsheet draped over his shoulder.Â
You play into his hand, âIs that some kinda of euphemism?â Feeding his ego with a suggestive arch of your brow. Maybe youâre bold, but you donât think heâs the type to be deterred by a confident woman. In fact, it seems to make him glow even brighter.
His voice lowers, dripping with an enticing challenge, âAre you looking to find out?â he asks.Â
His jaw quirks, and youâre mesmerized watching him suck at his lower lip. It looks so perfectly plump and kissable, curling into a smirk as his eyes gleam with mischief. âCome,â he beckons for you to follow him deeper into the party.Â
âI thought you had a girlfriend,â you say stiffly, remembering what Liv had said as you walked in. He looks at you curiously before shaking his head lightly.Â
âYou mean Cora? From earlier? Sheâs not my girlfriend. We were just dancing.âÂ
âNo,â you shake your head, âI heard itâs all over social media. That youâre loved up.âÂ
âOh, so youâve heard of me?â he gives you that cocky smile that absolutely shouldnât work but somehow makes you feel warm like youâre laying on the warm sand on a beach listening to the waves crashing. You donât say anything else, and he leans in a little closer, âWhatâs love got to do with it?â he asks huskily. Dangerously.Â
It makes you shudder with something warm and twisted.Â
âNow,â he guides you gently but firmly, âCome.â You need him to stop saying it like an order before you do.Â
You let him walk you through the party. Weaving through the boisterous crowds. They part easily for him, clearing a path like heâs royalty.Â
âThey call me âthe Red Viperâ because Iâm lethal at any game involving a red Solo cup.â He murmurs it into your ear like itâs a sexy secret.Â
You laugh brightly at that, giving him a gentle shove. âThatâs the lamest thing Iâve ever heard!âÂ
He gives you a coy shrug. âItâs the truth.â He leads you into the backyard, towards the beer pong tables. âIâll show you,â he says just for you to hear. The string lights illuminate the yard in soft light; however, the mood is anything but romantic, with the drunk cheering college kids taking their drinking games very seriously.Â
You watch, amused, as one team high-fives each other over their trick shot. At another table, both teams heatedly argue about âhouse rules.âÂ
âItâs the prince of pong!â one of his fraternity brothers shouts across the lawn. He gives you the most dramatic I told you so glance, and you mouth âlameâ back at him. He calls ânext game,â and as if he were their lord, one table immediately clears out, forfeiting in a demonstration of fealty.Â
âLadies first,â he offers once heâs set up all the cups to his liking. Heâs so arrogant about it, and it shouldnât turn you on, but it absolutely does.Â
You grin across the table at him. âYouâre on.âÂ
Heâs merciful at first. You land a few cups, giving you enough confidence to talk shit and tease him. But it rapidly becomes apparent that heâs a man of his word as he easily picks off every cup on your end of the table with precision. Â
Despite your rapid descent towards a loss, you eat up his charm. His magnetic energy. He makes the rest of the party disappear when he looks at you. It makes your heart tingle and your pussy flutter. Heâs a gracious winner, only gloating a little as he reracks the table and offers it up to other party-goers.Â
âAlright, Viper, you won. You can retain your title.â You admit defeat as he slinks up close to you, ushering you along to the side of the house, only a few steps away but more secluded from the rest of the party.Â
âAnd now, will you allow me to claim my prize?â he asks in his smoky, deep voice.Â
Despite his clear intentions, you feign confusion as he wraps one wide hand around your waist and tilts your chin towards his face with the other. âI didnât know we were playing for stakes,â you smile brashly. Your skin blazes under his touch and his seductive gaze as his eyes drop to your mouth.Â
He starts to dip towards you, but you swerve away from him. Itâs on the tip of your tongue to ask again if heâs in a relationship. He growls softly, almost a purr, next to your ear. âWhatâs wrong, my lady?â he murmurs. The intimacy of it is heady, and your surroundings fade.Â
You want to take whatever heâs offering, no questions, so instead you whisper, âTell me your real name.â
He sighs softly before giving in and telling you his name.Â
âOberyn,â you repeat back, âthatâs unique.âÂ
He starts muttering about how heâs an international student, but youâve got all the info you needed. Now you donât have to add a guy named Viper to your mental list of hookups.Â
âI like it,â you cut him off before slotting your mouth against his and making up for ducking out of his last attempt at a kiss with your eagerness. He wraps his arm around you, and youâre transported. One large hand presses against your lower back, urging your hips toward his, and the other cradles your jaw, giving you a sense of stability as he matches your ferocity.Â
You briefly wonder if youâd have melted if he wasnât holding you so tightly before your thoughts are consumed by the sensation of his lips against yours and his tongue running along yours. Itâs not a kiss you wouldâve expected from a frat guy. Itâs romantic and passionate, and you feel your body rolling against his, caught up in the sensation and intensity.Â
You keep going, letting yourself enjoy the moment, eating up the flavor of him, the scent of him, and the throbbing intensifying between your legs. You slip one of your hands along the back of his neck into his soft hair, and he groans into your mouth. It makes your knees weak.Â
You chase his mouth as he pulls back and looks into your heavy-lidded eyes. Sharing the hot air between you, it feels like a current is looping through your bodies, buzzing with need.Â
âLetâs go upstairs,â he urges in a gravelly whisper. You can feel him hardening against you. His hand on your back is firm, keeping you flush, pelvis to pelvis, making you nearly dizzy. However, his hand on your jaw is gentle, brushing his thumb along your cheek sweetly. You still canât help goading just a little.Â
âWhat for?â you ask playfully.Â
âTo fuck.âÂ
It makes your cheeks hot. Maybe there should be red flags popping up in your mind, but you donât care. He likes a bold woman, and you like a direct man.Â
âUnless youâd rather do it in the grass here,â he tilts his head toward the ground. You act like youâre considering the option seriously, making him laugh before he releases you from his arms. âDonât tease,â he says with a severe look, âIt wouldnât bother me.âÂ
Me either, you consider before deciding not to say that part aloud. You tell him to take you to a real bed, and he does. Swiftly guiding you into the house and up the stairs, past the pledge guarding the rooms, and into his bedroom. He spins around, pinning you against the door for another searing kiss. Itâs more urgent this time. Heâs quickly moving to your neck, trailing open-mouthed kisses down your tender skin as you both greedily run your hands along each otherâs bodies.Â
Before you can get your hands under his toga, heâs detaching from you and sinking to his knees. He moves efficiently, bunching up your toga and asking you to hold it. Then heâs hovering his hot mouth over your mound before kissing you over your lacey panties.Â
âMmm,â he hums into you and traces the crease of your thighs with one hand, following the line until heâs softly running his fingers along the edge of your panties, the tips of his fingers barely dipping beneath the hem as he moves towards your core. You watch, staring down with your mouth parted as he holds your gaze.Â
He teases you, running his fingertips along your seam over the soaked fabric, tapping and teasing at your swollen clit through the fabric as he watches your needy expression morph into frustration. You shift, spreading your legs wider, but he stops you with a large hand on each thigh.Â
âHold still,â he orders, and you feel compelled to listen. He pulls your underwear down and off of you, then hooks one of your legs over his shoulder, spreading your cunt open. âThatâs better.âÂ
You canât tell if heâs talking to himself or to you. You donât have a chance to ask before heâs burying his face into your soft, wet pussy. Your breath hitches at the sensation and one of your hands flies out to grab at the door frame to steady you, while the other one digs into Oberynâs hair.Â
Heâs unbothered by your dramatics. Oberyn moves with enthusiasm, drawing his tongue along your slit and pressing into your sex with his jaw. His facial hair tickles at your tender skin deliciously and his nose grazes over your clit as if his face were molded to maximize your pleasure. He changes his strategy, mouthing at your clit and sweeping his tongue over it like heâs making out with it, with the same passion that he kissed you with outside and a moment ago.Â
You can feel it starting to build. Your hip flexors straining and thighs starting to tremble as your breathing gets quicker and more shallow. Closer and closer and closer. Heâs perceptive and diligent. Repeating the same tricks that make you moan and dig your fingers into his hair.Â
Youâre stuck on the precipice, so close but not quite there. Your eyes roam around the dimly lit room, the bed, the bookshelf, the tapestry pinned to the wall, the collection of cologne bottles lined up on the desk, the mirror on top of the deskâpointing right at the bed.Â
It starts to frustrate you. Not the decor choices, but the tension and the building pressure. You squirm slightly, hoping the smallest adjustment will somehow bring everything into a sharper focus. You let your eyes close, letting the roar of the party downstairs fade, focusing on the pressure and warmth of Oberynâs mouth.Â
More, more, more.Â
Itâs all you can think as Oberyn stays dedicated to getting you off on his tongue. He sucks firmly at your clit before releasing you with a slick sound. He hovers, mouth fanning warm air over your core looking up at you. His eyes are lit with hunger. Â
âMore?â he asks in his deep, rich voice.Â
You canât tell if you were chanting out loud or if heâs somehow reading your mind. âPlease,â you respond with a needy edge, âmore.â You catch the sparkle in his eye and the flash of a grin. He works you up again, towards the brink, relishing in your responses as you whine with need as he resumes holding you in a purgatory of pleasure.
Mercifully, he does give you more. Oberyn grips your thigh with one hand, steadying you, while he swipes two fingers along the length of your pussy once, twice, coating them in your arousal before plunging them inside of you. The increased pressure and friction from his fingers pumping into you causes you to moan. Itâs a lower register than your breathy panting from earlier, layered with satisfaction as you can feel the anticipation starting to crest.Â
âDonât stop,â you beg, âIâm so close.âÂ
He doesnât stop, groaning at your words, rumbling against you. That snaps the tension and you cry out his name and a string of curses as your orgasm hits. He doesnât slow down when your cunt contracts around his fingers and he doesnât lose focus when you shake and writhe against mouth. Not until youâre pulling him off of you, oversensitive and wrung out. Â
Oberyn stands, wiping at his chin before pulling you in close for another breathtaking kiss. He walks you back toward the bed and you fall into it, pulling him with you. You tangle together, frantically, you want him inside of you now. He laughs softly against your hot neck, sensing your frustration.Â
âShh,â he murmurs as you huff with defeat. He moves deftly, braced over you with one arm, and freeing his cock with the other. Your hands stroke up and down his shoulders and back, and you hook one leg around his hip, encouraging him. âYou want me to fuck you now?â he asks and you whisper a yes that turns into a gasp as he runs his tip through your soaked center. âAnd how do you want it?â
âHard.âÂ
âYeah,â he agrees, sinking into you deeper and deeper, and pulling back, all the way out, then all the way in. âFuck,â he says to himself as he sets a quick pace, slaming his hips into yours making the bedframe creak with every thrust. If the noise from the party didnât drown everything else out, you might be embarrassed to have strangers over hear, but you would be surprised if anyone could hear a thing. And, even if you were louder than the party, you could care less about being caught as Oberyn fucks you into the mattress.Â
âHarder,â you goad him, hoping for more. To your horror he pulls out of you completely, but you swiftly find yourself flipped onto your stomach as he lifts your hips and enters you from behind. You press back, meeting his thrusts, bouncing off of his hips until he presses his palm between your shoulder blades. He forces your chest into the mattress, holding you still so he can fuck you like he means it, with enough force that all you can do brace yourself and ball your fists, twisting the bedding between your fingers.Â
With your cheek against the bed you can watch your reflection in the mirror. Itâs hot, even with your togas draped and bunched up, you look good together. It makes you grin. He catches you looking and turns, meeting your eyes in the mirror before watching your bodies. He grips your hips firmly and you can barely keep your eyes open to watch as he continues.Â
He overwhelms you with his stamina, keeping up a pace that has your mind feeling blissfully fuzzy. He says something else before folding over you and slipping his hand around towards your clit, determined to feel you come around his cock. Youâre so close already, itâs only a moment, a few more thrusts, before shuddering beneath him. He tries to fuck you through it, but you clench and constrict around him so tightly that he pulls out while youâre still moaning.Â
You can hear the slick wet sounds as he strokes himself, cursing under his breath again, before you feel the warmth as he comes across the swell of your ass and your fluttering cunt. You sink, dropping your hips and relaxing onto the bed while he catches his breath. Oberyn squeezes at your thighs, offering praise you donât quite hear, then heâs slipping off the bed. He cleans you up with a towel, but you remain still for a little longer, enjoying the satisfaction and the sweet ache from the intensity.Â
âTake your time,â he tells you, leaning down to press a kiss to your shoulder. Itâs gentle. You murmur a thanks at him before breaking into an airy giggle. It makes your ribcage shake, bouncing slightly on the mattress, realizing that Liv is going to die when you tell her you can confirm her roommates story. Oberyn doesnât question your reaction.Â
He pauses to readjust his toga and his hair in the mirror. Once seemingly satisfied, he turns back towards you, watching you sit up. âIâll see you out there,â he says with a smile before he slips out of the room.Â
You linger for just a little. Allowing yourself the privacy to revel in the sweet satisfaction of the post-sex chemicals flowing through your body. You let yourself grin while you check your phone to see where Liv is at.Â
You take another minute, using the mirror to fix your own appearance, aiming for a slightly less obvious version of I just got railed, before meeting your own eyes. For a sobering second you remember you didnât get a real answer about if he has a girlfriend. He sure as fuck doesnât act like it, you decide. You shake off the thought.Â
He might be a frat bro, he might be a piece of shit, all you know for sure is that he is hot, a good kisser, and he knew how to make you come. Three things you didnât think youâd find in one guy under this roof. You give yourself a final onceover before heading out of the room and down the stairs.Â
You donât see Oberyn in the first few rooms you pass. You keep looking; he couldnât have gone far. Youâre barely finished that thought when you spot him in the kitchen. The sight makes you stumble, shooting a hand out to the wall to catch your balance.Â
Heâs leaning casually, with his hip against the counter, as a starry-eyed girl looks up at him, giggling flirtatiously, as she lays a hand along his bicep.Â
Itâs in slow motion. The way he looks at her hand, the way his eyes trail along her arm, over the curve of her breasts, and down her legs before flitting back to her face with that same sinful smirk you just fell for.Â
Your shoulders drop. Itâs not like you were planning your wedding or that you even thought a date was on the tableâbut you didnât think heâd be on to the next girl before you made it down the stairs.Â
You start to recenter yourself, reaching to check your phone again before you look for Liv.Â
He sees you before you can mind your business and plan your next move. Catching your eye through the doorway. Before you can formulate a reaction, youâre stuck, held in his gaze. He winks at you again, only this time thereâs no question if you were making it up. He winked at you and despite everything, it makes your whole body tingle.Â
âI saw that!â Liv shouts into your ear, wrapping an arm around you. âYou have to tell me what the fuck that was about. But first can we please get pancakes or cheese fries?â
You donât bother turning back for a second glance as you follow Liv toward the front door.Â
You must understand though the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it's only the thrill of boy meeting girl
Opposites attract
It's physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore that it means more than that
Oh, oh, oh
What's love got to do, got to do with it?

Would you? a part 2 of "She Wishes".
Recommend reading "She Wishes" before going down.
Warnings: Angst, a lot of angst. Regret... Emotional Out Of Character Wednesday
Summary: Would you come back if you knew how much she has changed? Pairing: Wednesday x Female Reader.
I donât need someone dragging me down, constantly whining about feeling neglected. If you canât handle that, then maybe you should find someone else willing to put up with your desperate need for attention.
Wednesday jolted awake, the voice still ringing in her ears, her own voice.
In her whole life, she had never been the one to be afraid of nightmares, yet she ended up like this, being unable to sleep because of the nightmare she created herself. It had been the same, night after night.
When was the last time sheâd slept without revisiting that moment, that night when she said those⊠words? She couldnât remember.
She dragged herself to a seated position, trying to steady her breathing, only to catch a flicker of movement on the balcony.
A figure stood there, perfectly still, as if waiting... just as it always had.
It was you.
She knew her mind was simply tormenting her, feeding on her guilt and grief, creating illusions to make her suffer even more. But in a way, she had come to accept it. This was the only way she could see you now, the only way she could be near you. She couldnât resist the pull, the familiar ache in her chest that begged her to walk toward you.
She glanced over at Enid, who was sleeping soundly on her side of the room. Fortunately, Enid could sleep through the wildest storms. Wednesday supposed it was a blessing; her friend wouldnât hear her break through the silence to talk with⊠you.
And there you stood, haloed by the soft glow of the moon, looking more beautiful than she ever remembered. She took in the way your hair caught the light, the way it made you look ethereal, almost otherworldly.
A year ago, she wouldâve never noticed something like this, but now? Now, she was all too aware. Painfully so.
She approached with quiet, as if you were something fragile she might shatter with her presence alone.
âYouâre here again.â Her voice was low, tentative.
You didnât respond, just kept staring up at the stars.
Wednesday swallowed, hating the awkwardness of her own silence, hating that she struggled to express herself even now, even when she knew you weren't real.
âI thought you might like to know how uneventful my day was,â she said softly. âNothing of interest happened. I went to class, ignored everyone, and endured the same dull routine.â her gaze lingered on you, trying to memorize every detail.
As she stood beside you, leaning on the railing, she looked at the moon, "Thing played a particularly irritating prank on Enid, it was suspicious. Thing would never hurt Enid's feelings⊠unless Enid told him to do so. She probably did to⊠lighten my mood, which to her disappointment, didn't amuse me at all." She glanced at you, half-expecting a response, though she knew youâd never answer.
You were only an illusion, yet you watched her so attentively, as though you were really listening.
A faint smile ghosted across her lips, sad and bittersweet. It reminded her of the way you used to listen to her back then, a year ago, when the two of you were⊠something. Sheâd always avoided putting a name to it then, but now, she wished she had.
âI⊠know I never asked much about your day. I assumed youâd tell me what mattered eventually, but⊠you used to talk about everything, even things I thought were trivial.â Her gaze fell, the weight of her own words settling heavily in her chest.
"And the irony is," she whispered bitterly, "even if youâre just in my head, you're listening more to me right now than I ever did to you."
Wednesday waited, as if expecting you to smile at her words, to nod with that knowing look you used to give her when she vented. You always used to tell her about your own day, too, in that same casual, almost rhythmic way.
She closed her eyes, trying to remember the things you used to talk aboutâbut it was like trying to catch mist with her bare hands.
The details were lost to her because she had never truly listened. Sheâd always kept her mind focused elsewhere, assuming youâd always be there, assuming your words would repeat endlessly, and she could listen when she felt like it. But that moment, like you, was gone.
"I donât even know if I remember what your favorite book was," she muttered, almost to herself "or your favorite subject...or our favorite moment." She swallowed, the words sharp as they caught in her throat. "I donât know why you gave me so much of yourself when I barely gave you a second thought."
She hadnât even realized she was reaching into her pocket until her fingers closed around the metallic edge of her smartphone. A tool she despised. She pulled it out, letting it rest in her hand, staring down at the dark screen. She hated devices like thisâclunky, bright, too noisy, too eager to pull you into a world she didnât care for.
To her, the smartphone was an obnoxious symbol of the modern world, a world she found lacking in anything genuine or meaningful. Yet here she was, holding it, clinging to it like a lifeline.
This ugly piece of plastic and glass, which sheâd once ignored with utter disdain, had now taken on a significance.
It was the only way she could reach you...
She found your number, just as she had every night for the past year. She already knew how this would end, the way it had every night since youâd been gone.
It always ended the same way, going straight to voicemail. Yet she pressed it anyway, waiting for that familiar sound. The ringing stopped, and the voicemail picked up.
She took a shaky breath, and then, she began to speak.
âHello, itâs⊠me. Again.â Her lips twitched in a faint, bitter smile. âI suppose that part was obvious.â
She paused, glancing over her shoulder to make sure Enid was still asleep, then turned back to you.
âI know youâre not going to answer. I know that. But somehow⊠I canât seem to stop myself. Pathetic, isnât it?â She let out a low, humorless chuckle. âI never thought Iâd be the kind of person to talk to the void, to cling to something so⊠intangible. But here I am. Just another fool.â She gripped the phone a little tighter, closing her eyes as she struggled to find the words.
âToday, I thought about that time you asked me to spend the evening with you. You brought snacks and books, and you told me it could be fun, remember? I scoffed, said it was pointless, a waste of time.â She swallowed. âBut you⊠you just smiled at me. You always⊠God, you always just smiled, didnât you? I never understood how someone can hide so much pain behind a smile... Now I do." She smiled.
The silence on the line felt crushing, a void that seemed to swallow her whole, yet she kept going. She had to.
âIf you were here right now⊠Iâd ask you to tell me about your day,â she whispered. âI wouldnât even care if it was boring. I wouldnât mind if it dragged on or if you rambled. Iâd listen. For once, Iâd actually listen.â
She took a deep breath, her gaze dropping to the floor as she tried to steady herself. âI miss you,â she admitted finally, her voice breaking. âI miss you so much it feels like Iâm losing my mind. I may already have...â She looked at your form in front of her, looking at her with such pity in your eyes.
"I donât deserve to miss you this much. I know that. I know that I failed you in every possible way, that I took you for granted. And nowâŠâ She trailed off, her voice shaking with the weight of her confession.
âI keep thinking, what if⊠what if Iâd done things differently? What if Iâd actually listened, actually cared about the things that mattered to you?â She swallowed hard, the words barely a whisper. âWould you still be here?â she sighed.
âI just⊠I need you to know that I would give anything, anything, to have you back. To have one more chance to show you that Iâm not the person I was back then. I can change. I have changed. I just⊠I just want you to come back. I just want to know one thing, Would you come back if you knew how much I've changed?"
The beep sounded, signaling the end of the voicemail. She lowered the phone, her hand trembling as she placed it back in her pocket. Her gaze returned to your figure, still there, still watching.
âWould you forgive me?â she asked, she had to know, just so she could at least sleep that night.
At that moment, your lips curved into that familiar smile, the one that always held so much pain and you whispered back.
âWould you?â

I Make You (You Make Me): Chapter One
Summary: After auditioning for a backup dancer position for the idol group Enhypen, you do the polite thing and shake everyone's hands before you leave. But when you make contact with one of the members, your soul mark burns Warnings: This chapter is literally all fluff
The HYBE building was absolutely daunting. The sun reflected off the glass and metal, making it difficult to look at. You took a deep breath, swallowing your nerves and wiping your sweaty palms on your joggers before stepping into the cool air of the lobby. You approached the woman typing furiously behind the front desk, her glasses sitting on the edge of her nose.
âHello, Iâm looking for the Enhypen auditions?â You politely greeted the older woman.
âPhoto ID and audition invitation.â She didnât even look up from her computer to address you, causing your anxiety to spike again. You handed her the requested documents with shaky hands. Her sharp eyes scanned over your ID and letter, then to a list of names taped to her desk. She returned your documents and provided a visitor tag. âTake the elevator to the right. The studio is on the third level, number 307.âÂ
You mumbled a âthank youâ and followed her directions to the dance studio. You were among 20 candidates for the backup dancer position for the swiftly approaching comeback. You stood in line and focused solely on keeping your breathing steady. It was your turn after what felt like an eternity of waiting (it was only 15 minutes). You stood in the center of the room facing four men sitting in chairs and holding clipboards. You recognized two of them as members of Enhypen, although you couldnât remember their names. The other two must be the lead choreographer and manager. They were the names on the audition invite.
âHello, I am Y/N L/N, and I will be performing my own choreography to Mirage by Lindsey Stirling,â you introduced yourself with a bow. They nodded and began the track, which they had queued up along with the other candidatesâ songs. You took your position and emptied your mind, just like you did before every competition. You put everything you had into the dance. You panted as you relaxed from your final position.Â
âYou said you made your own choreography?â One of the Enhypen members asked with a tilt of his head. Shit, what was his name? Ricky? Ricky sounded almost right. You nodded.
âYes, this was for my final competition right before I graduated from university.â
âDid you go to school for dance?â The oldest of the four men chimed in. You had to assume he was the manager.
âNo, actually, I have a teaching degree. I was planning to teach Korean and English literature. But I did competitive dance for a little under ten years,â you explained, fidgeting with your fingers. You werenât expecting to be asked any questions.
âSo what made you apply for this position?â The other Enhypen member furrowed his eyebrows.Â
âTo be honest, I havenât had much luck finding a school willing to hire me, since Iâm only 22 and a foreigner,â you sighed. âI saw the ad online, and figured there was no harm in applying.â
âIf you donât mind my asking, are those bands on your fingers your soul mark?â The manager pointed to your hands. You looked down at the bands of solid black circling the base of seven of your fingers.
âYes, they are. And no, Iâm not sure if it means I have seven soulmates or if theyâre all tied to one,â you answered the question you knew would be the follow-up. The manager nodded, making a note on the paper in front of him.
âThank you for coming in, we will be in touch to let you know if we have decided to pick you for the position,â the manager stated with a final nod in your direction. You thanked and shook the hands of the manager and choreographer. When your hand connected with the Enhypen member to the choreographerâs right, the band on your left pinky burned. You yelped, yanking your hand from the young manâs grip to clutch your mark. You rubbed your pinky to soothe the sting, your motions coming to a stop when the black band slowly morphed to a pale purple.
âNi-ki, are you okay?â You looked up to him staring at everything in the room with his jaw dropped.Â
âOh, my god, Iâm so sorry! Did I hurt you?â Ni-ki dropped his eyes back to you. He suddenly held your face with both hands to pull you closer to his face, causing you to squeak and flush a light pink. He seemed to be analyzing your features, flicking his gaze over your hair, your cheeks, and your lips before landing on your eyes.
âNi-ki, what on earth has gotten into you?â The manager asked incredulously.Â
âHer eyes are blue,â he muttered while running a thumb across the skin under your eyes.
âOh⊠oh! You got colors! You found your soulmate,â the other member grinned and shook the youngest by his shoulders. Ni-ki rolled his eyes and reluctantly released you from his grip. You shook yourself out of your daze.
âSorry, Iâm probably holding up the auditions. Iâll wait outside until everything is finished, then we can talk.â You bowed clumsily and stepped back in the hallway, missing the curious look from the cat-eyed member and the longing from Ni-ki. They knew you were right, though, so they didnât protest. You sat on the floor a few doors down from the audition studio. There were still seven people that still needed to go, so you pulled out your phone to google the Enhypen members. You identified the other member in the studio as the leader, Jungwon. You fell down a rabbit hole of interviews and fan compilations in an attempt to memorize all of their names and faces.
âY/N?â You jumped at the sudden intrusion. Jungwon had poked his head out of the studio to let you know they were done, but he was now stifling his laughter.Â
âYou guys are done already?â You checked the time and sure enough, almost a half hour had passed. You followed Jungwon back into the studio, sitting on the floor in a small triangle with the idols while their manager, Minjun, observed from his chair. You and Ni-ki immediately dove into a quiet conversation, each of you wanting to learn more about your soulmate. Jungwon looked at you with that same curious expression as when you left after your audition.Â
âI have something I want to test,â he interrupted. You turned to him, eyebrows raised. He hesitated for a split second before gently intertwining your hands. You winced when you felt the burning on your soul mark again, this time on your right pointer finger. The three of you watched as the band changed from black to red.
âHow come yours is a different color than mine?â Ni-ki questioned. You shrugged, unsure of the answer yourself.
âI donât know. I guess Iâll figure it out over time.â You looked up from your newly colored mark to Jungwon, who was typing quickly on his phone. âHow did you know?âÂ
âYour emotions,â he started and dropped his phone into his lap to return his attention to you. âI have the shared emotions soulmark. I felt how nervous youâve been today, especially when you introduced yourself and your song. I had a feeling even before you gave Ni-ki colors.â
âI assume you told the other boys,â Minjun quipped. Jungwon nodded. You were very happy you decided to look them up earlier. âIâll be back, then. I need to gather some paperwork for Y/N to fill out.âÂ
âYou think the others are my soulmates, too?â You pondered after the door closed behind Minjun.Â
âItâs definitely possible. Iâve heard a couple other groups share a soulmate,â Jungwon noted. âITZY and P1Harmony have gone public with their soulmates. TXT, Xikers, and Aespa are still private with theirs, but theyâve told some other idol groups.â
âOh wow, I didnât know so manyââ You were cut off by the door slamming open. You clutched a hand over your heart, shouting a Jesus fucking Christ in English.
âAH!!â Jake beamed and pointed at you. He turned in circles, almost too excited to pick one thing to look at.Â
âShow her, dumbass!â Someone teased from the hallway. Jake turned and moved closer to you then lifted part of his shirt. Across his left hip bone, in bold black letters, was the phrase âJesus fucking Christâ.Â
âI am so sorry!â You hid your face in your hands. âUgh, why did I curse?! I wish I said something nicer.â
âItâs okay,â Jake chuckled and wedged his way between you and Jungwon. âItâs easy enough to cover, plus itâs funny as hell.â The other four members filed into the studio. Sunoo froze by the door to stare at you.Â
âAlright!â You clapped to get everyoneâs attention (which was already on you anyway). âMy soulmark is physical, so I need everyone to touch my hand or something. Oh, and tell me what your soulmarks are.â The first to step up was Heeseung. He pulled the collar of his shirt down to reveal your initials printed underneath his collarbone. Him and Jake turned the bands on your left middle and pointer fingers into a rosy pink.
âI have a red string connecting my thumb to your chest,â Sunghoon grinned and ran the thumb with his string across your cheekbone. The band on your right middle finger turned the same shade of red as Jungwonâs. The burning was intense, but you needed to confirm all of the bonds.Â
âYou glow for me.â Sunoo was still entranced by the pulsing gold light surrounding your body. He simply patted your hair before sitting between Sunghoon and Ni-ki. Your left ring fingerâs band changed to pale purple. The last to approach was Jay, who sat right in front of you.
âI donât know what my soulmark is,â he admitted. You nodded and held your hands out to him. He took them into his own, changing the band on your right ring finger red. His smile dropped ever so slightly. Nothing changed for him.Â
âNothing?â Jay shook his head and you smiled sadly. âIâm sorryâŠâ
âItâs not your fault.â He started to pull his hands away, but paused when he looked at your palms. They were a deep, forest green. Jayâs eyebrows pinched together in concentration. He ran his fingers down your forearm, a trail of green following his touch.Â
âWhat do the different colors mean?â Jake peeked over Jayâs shoulder, who was still running his fingers across any patch of exposed skin in fascination, smiling so hard his eyes were almost closed.
âIâm not really sure,â you shrugged. Sunghoon tapped his chin. You could practically see the cogs turning in his head.
âMaybe it shows different types of bonds,â he started. âNot all soul bonds are the same, after all.â
âThatâs true,â you agreed. âIâll probably figure out what the colors mean as I get to know all of you.â The door opened again and Minjun stepped back into the studio, tablet in hand.
âSo?â The elder probed, one eyebrow arched. You held up your hands to show off your now-colorful fingers. âI canât say Iâm surprised. For now, I just need you to sign a standard NDA. I have to discuss more specifics with the managers of the other groups that share a soulmate.â Minjun handed you the tablet. You barely skimmed the agreement before signing and dating the form.Â
âIs this going to affect my chances of getting the backup dancer position?â You asked as you handed the tablet back to the manager.Â
âThat is part of the specifics I need to ask about. If youâd like to spend time together, please do so here or at their dorms until we do a security sweep of your home.â Minjun tucked the tablet under his arm and left the studio once more.Â
âLetâs go to the dorms. We can order food and get to know each other better,â Jungwon suggested and stood to grab his bag.
âDude, we just left them to come here!â Jake groaned. âWhy didnât you just bring her to us?â
âYou know Minjun wouldnât let us without confirming that she is actually everyoneâs soulmate.â Jungwon held the door open and gestured to the hallway. You followed the boys as they made their way back to the dorms.

Iâve loved you three
Summers
Chapter 5
Warnings: Angst, implied sex, language.
Long overdue!
To be read with @cellythefloshie âCool for the summerâ
Enjoyđ€
âYou look cute!â Maddie commented as she and Harper made their way to her jeep in the driveway.
Harper glanced down and then back at her âAre you sure? I-â
Maddie nodded and smiled âPositive. Itâs nice to see you in something besides running clothing for a change.â
âSorry about this week. Iâve just been having a tough time.â Harper said quietly as she reached for the drivers side door handle.
âDonât apologize. Just pick yourself back up is all. Everyoneâs allowed a bad day now and again Harper. But donât let the bad days outnumber the good ones.â
Harper managed a smile and a nod and hopped in next to her, tossing her phone in the cup holder.
Maddie wanted to tell her about Seth, but she didnât want to overload Harperâs already overloaded brain. She would tell her eventually, unless Harper figured it out on her own, which was very possible. She had practically raised them, and she knew something was up per their conversation the week prior. It certainly wouldnât take her very long to notice the change.
Right now though, Maddie had something other than Seth on her mind.
Right now, her heart was bursting with the idea that they were sisters again. They chatted with eachother as they buckled in the jeep and rolled down the windows, cranking the volume on the radio. Maddie remembered when Harper first got her license and they used to drive all over the place singing at the top of their lungs. They hadnât done that in a long time.
It was so nice.
The lights were on at the Jarvis house, and Sethâs car was still there, and Maddie assumed he and Andrei would be leaving soon to meet them at the carnival but she hadnât talked with him in a few hours so she wasnât sure. As Harper backed out of the driveway and turned down the road, Maddie thought back to another summer evening some years ago.
âAre you two gonna sit out here all day?â Madison and Seth, both 14, glanced up to see Harper making her way across the lawn.
It was brutally hot outside and Madison was seated under the umbrella by the pool while Seth, waist deep was skimming it with the pool cleaning net. Harper was still in work clothing, hair pulled back from her face, sweat already forming on her forehead.
âItâs too hot to do anything else. The water isnât even cool anymore.â Maddie said shifting in her lounge chair and wiping her forehead.
Harper seated herself on the other chair and blew out a breath âIt is hot. So whoâs the new pool boy?â She nodded at Seth who made a face.
âHa ha.â He guffawed eyeing Harper over the pool net. He lowered it under the water and cracked an evil grin.
âSeth I swear if you-NO!â
Seth swung the net and a tidal wave of water flew out of the pool hitting Harper square in the chest and face. With a shrill scream she stood, water pouring down her pants and forming a puddle on the sidewalk around the pool. Madison watched open mouthed as she shook herself and Seth made to climb out of the pool and run across the yard but Harper took off after him and caught him. Madison followed and the three of them went down in a tangle of arms and legs which Seth unfortunately ended up on the bottom of. Madison had him by arms as Harper started pinching him making him scream so loud he would have woke. The neighborhood had anyone been home at the odd hour in the afternoon.
âWhat the hell are you idiots doing?â
They paused their fighting and looked up to find their dad and and Mr. Jarvis looking at them amused. They were all wet, disheveled and covered in grass clippings from rolling around wrestling on the ground. Harper cleared her throat from her spot sitting on top of Seth âSeth started it.â
âAnd I helped Harper beat him up.â Madison said from her right. She was still holding both of Sethâs arms to the side so he couldnât defend himself.
âAnd I-I hit Harper with pool water.â Seth said muffled from underneath her.
Mr.Jarvis and their dad shared a look and shrugged âHe asked for it. You want a beer?â
Harper resumed her punching as they made their way inside the house. After several seconds Seth flipped her and Madison off of him, sending them rolling into one another and made his way to his feet and took off across the lawn, the girls following behind.
Inside the kitchen Mr. Jarvis watched and shook his head.
âI hope they beat him when they catch him.â
***********
The carnival was large and loud, packed with people. The air was thick and sticky, but the sun had started to go down by the time theyâd parked and started walking. Theyâd intercepted Maddieâs friends and they had begun to make their way through when Harper turned to ask Maddie a question.
âHey Mads I- what is this?â Harper said letting out a long breath and deflating. Annoyance crossed her face as Seth, Andrei and two other people who Maddie wasnât familiar with made their way towards them.
Seth grinned and raised his eyebrows, holding his hand up in fake surprise âOh my god, how funny it is to see you guys here! Thatâs so weird.â He said winking at Maddie.
Harper folded her arms and pursed her lips, foot tapping on the ground as he neared her still grinning âYeah.â She scoffed âDefinitely weird.â
Seth swung an arm around her shoulders and gave her a small shake âLove you Harper.â
She looked away from him pointedly, looking around at anything that wasnât in Andreis general direction but because Harper was polite she was forced to when he introduced them to his brother and his girlfriend.
They made small talk, even Harper for a few minutes before Seth made mention of beer and the group dissolved leaving her with her sister. Maddie looked slowly over at her sister trying to gauge how mad she was. And judging by her crossed arms and sour expression she would say on a scale of 1 to 10 it was like a 4.
âMadison.â
âHarper.â
âWhy are you doing this to me.â
âI donât-what do you mean?â
Though she still looked annoyed, a ghost of a smile crossed her face and she sighed glancing upwards âIâm going pee.â She squeezed through people and was gone just as Seth and Andrei returned.
Convenient.
âBeer.â Seth said holding the plastic cup out to her, eyes moving down her bare legs like he wanted to rub it all over her exposed skin.
Andrei was glancing around over the top of her head, and gave her an absent smile.
âSheâs in the bathroom.â Maddie said from beside him, eyes twinkling as she sipped from the cup.
âWho?â Seth asked from behind her, hand braced on her hip.
âMy sister of course. He looooooves her.â Maddie said with a small giggle and a wink. She gave Andrei a playful tap on the bicep and even though he felt hopeless he chuckled âMy brother does not think itâs a good idea.â Andrei said with a shrug.
Seth frowned âWhy not?â
âBecause she just got out of a relationship and well be leaving at the end of the summer.â
âTell him to stop being a buzzkill.â Maddie said completely ignoring the âleaving at the end of the summerâ comment. That was the last thing she wanted to think about.
Regardless of what, if anything happened with Harper and Andrei today or any other day before the end of August, she would still have to contend with Seth packing up and leaving then too. It always sucked when summer ended and he left to play wherever it was he was playing at, this summer would be particularly hard. She tried not to think about it, but it was already mid June and she felt like the days moved by faster than ever.
Andrei chuckled and shrugged âI donât think she likes me that way anyways.â Though heâd fished for information on the golf course and Maddie hadnât given him any, he wondered if it would be the same result now that she had sipped away half that cup of beer.
But she still wasnât budging.
âI canât speak to that, but what I can speak to is Iâve never seen Harper go out of her way to be this rude to someone ever. So either your extremely unlikeable or your too likeable.â
âDonât tell him that. Itâll go straight to his head.â
Harper returned a moment later and the group moved through the fair, Andreis brother and his girlfriend in front, and Maddieâs friends in the back leaving the four of them in the middle. Harper looked uncomfortable as Andrei spoke with her as they walked, and it would have been cute but Maddie was distracted by the loud conversation her friends were having behind her.
âLook at the way heâs following her around, so cute. Like a puppy-â
Maddie spun around and glared at them from under her bangs and they both stopped talking. If she could hear them, so could Harper and she had finally gotten her out of the basement and these two werenât about to ruin it.
She turned back to Seth and he frowned âWhatâs the matter?â
âNothing Iâll tell you later.â She gave them another irritated glance as the line moved up a little bit.
âMads?â He asked leaning over âWhatâs wrong?â
âThese dumb bitches behind me keep making comments about Harper and Andrei and itâs pissing me off. They should really mind their own business.â She said the last part loudly so they could hear her. They were both silent and slowly melted away into the crowd of the carnival.
Seth sighed and smiled at her dreamily âYour so mean. I love y-it. I love it.â
Madison clammed up a split second as he coughed and looked ahead of him, sucking in a breath. The air turned awkward as they moved up in line looking away from each other pointedly. As the ride came to a stop, Seth pulled Maddie forward amidst Harperâs protest and sent her a little wave and a smile as she got on the next cart with Andrei.
She glared at him and shook her head.
âThey look cozy.â He remarked giving Maddie a nudge.
âWhat? Oh yeah.â She chuckled and looked at her feet.
Seth knew why she was suddenly quiet of course. He had almost said it and she knew it. Though he knew it was too soon for him to be talking about Love, it was true. He had always loved Madison, but it had hit him like a freight train and his feelings were growing stronger everyday. But telling her he loved her, that he was in love with her was difficult and scary.
If things didnât work between them, she would always be here. For the rest of his life as long as he came home to Winnipeg she would be there. Right next door. He could keep it to himself for now, but he wasnât sure how much longer he could contain himself.
She didnât say anything as the ride started, merely gripped his hand as it spun them, and held it as they exited. Soon after she, Seth and Harper split from Andrei and his brother and Harper held up a hand and announced she needed a drink.
Once they got to the beer gardens and sat down, Harper started complaining to Seth and Madison, which brought the mood back, and Seth was relieved to see Madison back to her old self.
âOkay but why does he have to like me? Why couldnât he like literally anyone else.â She moaned holding out a hand exasperatedly looking at Seth for help.
âWell heâs certainly not gonna be into me.â Seth said gesturing at himself âHe likes mean women.â
âAnd heâs from another country. Youâve got that whole foreign exotic thing going for you.â Maddie said with a wink.
âOh PLEASE.â Harper groaned âThere is nothing exotic about being Canadian.â
âOkay well he obviously doesnât know that.â Maddie said waving her off as Seth picked up the sentence âYour like a shiny new-â
âIf you compare me to a new toy Seth Jarvis Iâll slit your tires.â Harper said cutting him off, and pointing at him.
Maddie burst out laughing and Seth scoffed at her eyebrows raised. Harper didnât usually get sassy like that but when she did, Seth remembered where Maddie got it from.
âOkay then your like the shiny old-â
ïżœïżœïżœHey.â
They stopped bickering to find Andrei standing there eyes moving between them.
âOh.â Harper chuckled âoh. Uh. Hi Andreiâ She glanced down at the bear in his hands and went cold with dread.
âFor you if you want it.â He extended the bear âI wonât it and thought of you.â
They waited with baited breath as Harper looked between Andrei and the bear for several seconds before she took it slowly and gave him a small unsure smile.
It made Maddie wanna cry.
The air was awkward a second before, to Maddieâs dismay, her friends returned and broke up the moment.
*************
Maddie was deep in thought for the remainder of the carnival. She was having fun, and engaged in conversation with the others but she was thinking about Seth.
He almost said he loved her.
The idea made her happy but also a little bit nauseous. The L word was terrifying and no one had ever said it to her before. Not in a serious way, or that wasnât from her dad or her sister. Maddie had never been âin loveâ so she wasnât even sure what it felt like. But the more she thought, the more she realized that her feelings could be the beginnings of Love.
She walked along with her sister in search of the boys when she felt Harper lean in.â
âWhat the hell is he doing?â Harper asked with an eye roll as she and Maddie made their way to where he was speaking animatedly with the attendant.
Maddie was brought out of her thoughts and sighed âIâve learned to just not ask questions.â She said shaking her head with a small smile.
âAnd look!â He reached out and grabbed Andrei by the sleeve, hauling him over âI brought my Russian friend too, Andrei Svechnikov.. How does pictures and autographs sound? Eh?â
It was then that it seemed to dawn on the attendant and the crowd around who they were and Maddie and Harper could see realization ripple across faces.
After autographs and pictures, the four of them shuffled into the small Ferris wheel cart and the slow ride to the top began. Seth rocked the cart, Harper yelled at him, Andrei laughed, and Maddie slapped him because she was the closest.
Harper earlier icyness had seemed to melt away a bit and she was smiling genuinely at Maddie across from her. Just a half an hour ago Harper had been complaining about Andre liking her and now she looked so relaxed and natural sitting there next to him. Like they belonged together. Maddie felt Sethâs arm circle around her shoulders give her a small squeeze. They hadnât done much talking since the near L word drop earlier but Maddie leaned into his touch. Last summer theyâd been here on this very same Ferris wheel, but things had still been just friendly. H
How things had changed.
When they reached the top the ride slowed and halted.
âSo this is what you paid the guy for?â Harper questioned peering over the side.
Seth had a hand on Maddieâs knee and grinned âYep. 20 bucks and some pictures of Svechy and he was sold.â
Andrei rolled his eyes and waved him off moving closer to Harper in the small confines of the cart. A sudden loud screech started all of them as a bright blue firework soared upwards and exploded across the night sky. They watched as more followed, filling the sky with purples, green, yellows and reds that crackled and fizzled through the air before disappearing. Maddie turned to find Seth already looking at her.
She was beautifully illuminated and then shrouded in darkness, the colors of the fireworks reflecting off her eyes. And suddenly Harper and Andrei werenât there, the carnival wasnât there, the fireworks melted away and he was all she could see.
This was definitely love.
She let her eyes slide closed as he leaned in and pressed his lips sweetly to hers. They broke apart after a few moments and she felt her cheeks burn in embarrassment at the realization that they werenât alone in the cart.
âSorryâ She mouthed at Harper, who smiled and shook her head a little. Andrei aimed a kick at Seth, who kicked back as the fireworks ended and the Ferris wheel began a slow descent back down. Maddie pushed her earlier thoughts out of her head, deciding to sort through them by herself when she was alone, or maybe even discuss them with Harper.
As they exited the cart Maddie yawned and stretched. There had been way too many emotions running through her in the last 24 hours and it had mentally wiped her out. She needed a long, hot shower and a good sleep to fix it.
âIâm ready to go home.â She said shoulder bumping against Andreis, and glancing at Harper. He looked at her incredulously and then grinned.
âWhat? Go home? thought you were buckets of fun you said no? Itâs only 10pm!â
Maddie sighed but chuckled âI am tired, I am buzzed, and I-â
âSeth?â
The four of them stopped and turned to find the girl from last summer standing with her friends a few feet away.
âOmg hi!â She squeaked hurrying forward pushing right past Maddie to throw her arms around his shoulders. He held his hands out, not hugging her back, looking at Madison over her shoulder apologetically.
Maddie was frozen, arms hanging by her sides as she watched it unfold. She was completely blank, words had escaped her and she felt her heart slide down her chest and into her stomach, where it curled up and began to weep.
âAre you okay?â Madison turned to find Harper behind her looking at her with concern, and Andrei behind Harper looking at her with confusion.
Madison couldnât even formulate words but shook her head.
âWho is that?â Harper looked between her and the scene behind her, eyebrows low over her eyes. She looked annoyed, and Maddie was thankful for it on her behalf.
She swallowed thickly âThatâs the girl from last summer.â She said looking at her feet. Maddie wasnât used to feeling small, but right then she felt like she was an ant waiting to be stepped on.
Harper pursed her lips in understanding but Andrei was looking between them confused âWhat girl?â He asked leaning over to look at Harper, who opened her mouth to respond but closed it as Seth, who looked so uncomfortable, tried to maneuver his way around her without touching her, and reached out to put a hand on Madisonâs arm. The girl, noticed Madison for what seemed to be the first time and her smile faded a little.
âOh you two?â She looked uncomfortable âI kind of figured.â She laughed it off and crossed her arms.
Seth wrapped an arm around Madisonâs waist but she was stiff as a board, and he knew the damage was already done as she took a small step away from him. The girl continued to stare at her before Harper cleared her throat and intervened.
âWell it was good seeing you, whoever you are, but I need to get these lovebirds home.â She said with a small sneer, and turned Seth completely by the shoulders and steered him forward and away from the group Maddie and Andrei following behind. He gave her a sympathetic touch on the arm and a smile, which she returned barely but he didnât say anything.
Truthfully because he had no idea what had just happened.
The ride home was quiet, and Madison was as far away from Seth in the backseat as she could get. Andrei glanced over at Harper who looked back and pursed her lips, glancing in the mirror at them as they pulled into the driveway and got out.
Seth hurried out, and rounded the back of the jeep making his way to where she was âMads-â he started.
âIâm going to bed.â She turned on her heel and walked up the driveway past Andrei and into the house, slamming the door behind her.
He looked a little hurt as Harper came up behind him âThat was,â Harper nudged Seth as she couldnât quite find the right word to describe what had happened, âAwkward. You okay?â
He opened his mouth and closed it still staring at the door sheâd just disappeared through âSheâs upset because-â
âI know about last summer.â
He looked at her surprised. Sheâd only ever talked about it with him one time so heâd assumed that she kept it to herself with everyone else but he was wrong wrong.
Apparently heâd been wrong about a lot.
âI feel really bad.â He mumbled looking at the ground before he looked back at Harper and then Andrei âBut I donât know then. And I didnât know how much it bothered her.â
Harper shook her head âIâll make sure sheâs doing okay. Get it all figured out.â She gave him a small smile.
âDonât worry buddy. Itâll be okay. Letâs go inside, weâll talk about it.â Andrei patted him on the arm and steered him to the house sending Harper a smile, who felt the tiniest butterfly in her stomach as she made her way through the front door.
She found Maddie upstairs sitting on her bed in the dark, arms crossed.
âTalk to me, Mads.â She said softly as she sat next to her.
A single tear fell down Maddieâs cheek and she sniffled âThis is harder than I thought it would be.â
âWhat are you talking about?â
âBeing with someone. With Seth.â
âMads,â she sighed, âRelationships arenât easy. Nobody ever said they were, and Iâd say dating anyone with any kind of celebrity status only complicates this more. You do have a choice to make. You can decide against the idea of being anything but friends with Seth, or you accept that dating him also means having to deal with trashy fangirls who think they have a chance at an NHL player. And whichever you decide, you have to tell him how you feel. Heâs not a mind reader⊠hell, we know heâs not a strong reader, period.â Harper grinned a little bit and nudged her.
Madison swiped at the tear and let out a chuckle smiling at her sister âI know Iâm just-struggling , I guess. Itâs been a really long time since Iâve been with someone, like you knowâŠthat and I think Iâm riding an emotional high. I was in this little bubble for a whole 24 hours and it just got popped and Iâm having a really hard time.â
âI get it, but you and Seth have always been able to talk about anything. Just because your relationship has changed it doesnât mean your communication with each other has to. Communication is an important part of a successful relationship.â
Madison shrugged âI donât know how to have a relationship really and they scare me. Especially after seeing what happened to yours and how destroyed dad was afterâŠ.â Maddie froze and her eyes swiveled to Harper âMom.â She said softly.
It got quiet a second.
Maddie and Harper had spoken only a few times about their mom since sheâd passed. It had been hard on all of them, but it destroyed their dad. He was never really the same after that and for that exact reason they avoided talking about her all together.
Harper spoke slowly âSeth isnât Darren. And Dad, heâs done his best trying to get us ready for all of this dating shit. He loved mom more than anything. He misses her every day, and if we even find a fraction of the love he had for mom in a relationship itâd be a miracle. I wish I could have set a better example for you with Darren. With literally any other relationship that I could. But I failed you too, and Iâm sorry. But youâve got a chance to have something good Maddie. Seth is such a good kid, he always has been, but itâs going to take both of you working together to get this all worked out.â
âYou didnât fail me Harper. Your relationship with Darren just showed me the kind of person to stay away from is all. Donât make this your problem. Iâll be okay.â
Harper smiled at her and then cleared her throat âSo did you and Seth-?â
Maddie nodded and bit her lip âWe did.â
Harper made a face âYou remembered a condom, right?â
Maddie turned fully to look at her and frowned âHarper you know that I havenât been a virgin for like a long time right?â
Harper looked horrified for a good 10 seconds before Maddie burst out laughing so hard she started to cry.
âEw! I did not need to know that. I sometimes forget your not a little girl anymore.â
âMe too sometimes.â Maddie accepted a tight embrace from her sister and let out a sigh.
âTalk to him Mads. I promise youâll feel better.â
Harper left, making her way downstairs leaving Maddie there in the dark.
Across the yard Seth was slouched on the sofa, arms crossed. Andrei handed him a beer and sat in the arm chair across from him.
âExplain to me what is going on?â
Seth sighed and his head fell back âRemember when I told you last summer that things got weird? Thatâs the girl I was hanging out with when we got in that fight I told you about . That fight happened because of her but I didnât know it then.â
âAh. I see. But you didnât do anything. The girl came up to you. I understand why sheâs upset but I donât think sheâs upset with you.â
âSure seems that way.â
âListen I donât know her that well. Either of them really. Harper seems complicated, but maybe Maddie is more than she seems as well. Some people are better at hiding it.â
Seth picked at the label on the beer bottle and nodded âMaybe. I never-I never really thought about her like this until now. She was always just my friend and I never imagined that sheâd see me this way.â
Andrei nodded âI understand. But maybe she needs to hear that. This is new territory to her too.â
âTrue I guess. So I should go talk to her?â
âYou two can talk about anything yes?â
âWe used to be able to.â
âWhy not now? Sheâs still Madison and your still Seth right?â
***********
Maddie was laying across her bed with her eyes closed when she heard a hollow tap and a soft tink!
She frowned and sat up looking around. It was until she heard another sharper impact and saw something ricochet off her window that she stood and made her way across the room and opened it.
Seth was in the backyard looking up at her, and cleared his throat moving the rocks to his left hand and placed his right one on his chest over his heart âRapunzel Rapunzel let down your long hair, so that I can come up and apologize for being a dumbass last summer. Please?â He added the last part with a hopeful smile.
Maddie wanted to be mad, but she couldnât stop the smile from spreading across her face and rolled her eyes with a sigh âSeth-â
âI was going to stand out here with a boombox like that cheesy movie you like so much, but we have a noise ordinance and it would have been really embarrassing if your dad had to arrest me in his own backyard.â
Maddie started laughing and waved him up âCome on.â
She heard Harper and Seth encounter each other somewhere downstairs and then his footsteps making their way to her room. She flipped on a lamp as he apprehensively stepped inside the doorway and shut it behind him, turning to look at her before he sighed âMaddie. Iâm-Iâm sorry.â
Maddie shrugged and sat down heavily âSeth Iâm not mad at you.â
He looked relieved and moved to sit next to her. Just 24 hours prior theyâd been twisted together in bedsheets and here they were having what most would call their first fight.
âIâm just-uncomfortable I guess. Itâs hard to explain..â she trailed off.
He reached across and held her hand, letting it rest on her thigh âTry. I donât ever want to be the reason your upset about something.â
âLast summer after that argument I kind of told myself that nothing was ever going to happen with us because you had interest in other prettier girls like her, and now it has and my emotions are just all over the place. Seeing her just kind of brought it all back I guess.â
âMads.â He was shaking his head âYou are the most beautiful girl Iâve ever known. And the reason I had interest in other girls is because I never ever thought that you would like me this way. I mean Iâm still wondering if this is all a hallucination.â She rolled her eyes as he continued âI was an idiot last summer, and Iâm still one now but I donât ever want you to think that your less than anyone else. I think we need to get away for a day.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âA day trip or something. Like get out of Winnipeg for a bit.â
Maddie laughed âSeth you just got back.â
âAnd youâve been here this whole time. Come on. Itâll be fun.â
Maddie thought it over a second âOkay. That sounds really nice.â
âYeah? Great.â
âRoad trip to where?â
âItâs a surprise. Just promise me youâll pretend to have fun even if it sucks.â
âOkay deal.â
He kissed her cheek and stood âI better get home before you dad finds me in here and kills me.â
âDads on nightshift. He wonât be home for like 6 hours.â Maddie stretched back on her bed motioning for him to follow her.
â6 hours? Thatâs a long time.â
âHmmm if only we had something we could do till then.â She said softly as he hovered over her. He pushed her hair over her shoulder.
âI think I have an idea.â He whispered leaning across her to flip the lamp off.

I don't know why it's so common to characterize Kunikida's willingness to sacrifice himself for his ideals as suicidality or inevitable. It's so short sighted, and neglectful of the relationship between existence, life, and death profferred by Bungou Stray Dogs.
I came to the decision when I was seven that anything worth devoting myself to must be worth dying for, too. Not because I thought I would inevitably be asked or because I wanted to die (that wouldn't manifest for another two years). But because there are some things that transcend me, and those are the things into which I want to concentrate my immense but nevertheless limited energy, love, time, and will.
I don't know what's difficult to understand about there being some things worth dying for (or that maybe death is an end, rather than the end). But there are (and for some of us, it is).
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#bsd kunikida#maybe it's because i was also raised on a syncretized flavor of eastern religion and christianity#but idk i just think there are things greater than the physical#and bigger than myself#which doesnt devalue who and what i am#but elevates those things#anyway idk i just see this take about kunikida a LOT. but it's very relatable to me.#and while there are certainly many ways to interpret the same behavior#irl kunikida didnt want to die. but he did. why do we think bsd kunikida thinks so little of this other life he's been given.#kunikida was not someone who squandered his time#he knew it was precious#i dont think asagiri stripped that from him#because kunikida's ideal has never been to die#it's to ensure that EVERYONE lives#why do y'all assume he doesnt include himself in that?#why do yall think he's reckless and not calculated?#when he has NEVER made a choice like this without deep thought and introspection and resolve

chocolate confession âĄ
fem reader, part 2 for the ring pop proposal miniseries since yall were asking for it ! fem reader, soft n worried katsu, white day chocolates, katsu n reader r in highschool (ignore the no dorms blehh :P) in this one, this also reeks of my ocxcanon ship msorry yall lolololol, i dont think there are any warnings, but lemme know if i missed sum else !
the first person who realizes katsuki is trying to confess to you is his mom because he hasn't left the kitchen since he'd banished everyone from coming in as soon as the sun peeked through the curtains.
the older woman had no idea what the sounds of pots and pans clanging, mixed with not-so-quiet cursing meant, at first. but she figured it out quickly, call it mother's intuition, or the fact that she checked her calendar and realized tomorrow was white day.
mitsuki knew her son was going to confess to you when he came back from school with a cutely wrapped box of chocolates. her katsuki was still rowdyâif not rowdier and even less approachable than he was as a chubby cheeked little boy, so she guessed by the blush and barely suppressed smile on his face thatâ
"ouuu, got yourself some chocolates ? aren't you a heartthrob.." she teased "who'd you get those from ?"
katsuki scoffed at his mothers teasing. he rolled his eyes, but they wouldn'tâor rather couldn't stray far away from the wrapped sweet treats. he runs his thumb over the ribbon tied in front.
"..yn gave 'em to me." he huffs proudly.
as she guessed, they came from you. of course.
katsuki is stillâif not even more protective over everything that involves you, practically growling at his mom's not so sneaky attempts at trying to sneak a chocolate when he had opened the box "yn made 'em for me, so no touchin'." he snarled, stomping over to his room and ignoring his mom's knowing smirk when he made his way up the stairs.
this memory brings her back to now when she suddenly hears..nothing. absolute silence in contrast to all the ruckus from only a few seconds ago. and then the door creaks open just a bit and mitsuki sees her son's head peek out from the corner. she looks up from her magazine to raise a brow in question and the blond boy glares, jolting his head to the side in a silent plea for her to come over.
she saunters to the door, knowing smirk growing wider the more her son's grumpy face comes into view. she gets a peek of her kitchen through the small crack her son allowed her to see. she had to admit, though rowdy, katsuki was anything but messy. even though the dishes piled up, she knew he'd clean them up soon enough. she looks down at him and he avoids eye contact.
"can i come into my kitchen now ?" she smirks. katsuki scoffs at his feet. he grumbles something unintelligible before side stepping and telling her to 'just come in already.'
the woman is greeted with a batch of freshly made chocolates, which she assumes are one's you like if she knew how enamoured her katsuki was with you.
"ouu, who are these for, hm ?" she teased, but if she knew her son well enough she knew that theseâ
"sh-shut up !" katsuki snapped, cheeks turning red and eyes drifting around the room "you know who.." he challenges. mitsuki smirks wider, crossing her arms.
as she guessed, they're for you.
"okay.." she humors him, shifting her weight to her other leg " and what do you need me to do here ?"
katsuki inhales shortly to himself. he picks up one of the chocolates, not from your tray because those were for you and no one else, but from another tray she hadn't noticed of sloppier batches.
"try this." is all he says. handing her a little piece of deformed chocolate and she plops it into her mouth. she takes the time to let the sweet treat melt on her tongue before letting out a pleased hum. katsuki straightens up and his eyes shine and brighten the slightest bit.
"mhm, these are good." she acknowledged "but why don't i get one of the pretty ones ?" she teases. her katsuki all but scoffs in her face, simply stating that "these are for yn, not you."
and mitsuki realizes. he must've been working for hours trying to make these chocolates perfect for you, she guessed. her heart warms and her eyes soften at her son's adoration for you.
"but the one you gave me is good too, why can't you just give her one of those ?" at that, katsuki shoots her an incredulous look, like she had just told him something utterly unimaginable.
"i can't go around givin' her shitty chocolates ! 'specially not if i.." he trails off suddenly, grumbling with balled fists. he wipes at his cheek to try and wipe off his embarrassment. mitsuki feels her smile practically reach her ears. she's too good at this.
"if you what ?" she sings, leaning towards her son. he grumbles.
"if iâstop looking at me like that ! s'creepy so knock it off !" the blond snapped, face and ears a bright shade of pink and mitsuki can't help but bark out a loud laugh at her son's flustered state, her laugh drowns out the low growl he makes. she decides to spare him after a good giggle.
"okay, okay. i get it." she reassures. because she does, of course she does. but she sees something is wrong with the way her son seems satisfied for only a second before he's chewing at his lower lip and the way he wipes his hands against his pants. she knows her katsuki is extremely hard to handle. he could be quite the brat, but also extremely stubborn (she thinks she might know where he got that from.) so asking him simply what was wrong was out of the question. so she decides to coax him into it.
"you gonna give them to her tomorrow ?" he nods, hiding his eyes with his bangs.
"they're good. so i'm gonna give 'em to her tomorrow." her son nods at his mumbled pep talk, but the tension between his brows doesn't let up and after a moment, he sighs grumpily.
"what if i, like, fuck it up..?" mitsuki's eyes soften at her son's insecurities showing despite himself.
"how would you do that ? all you gotta do is hand them over." she asks softly. katsuki huffs.
"it's not that simple," he retorts "what if i make it weird ? what if i make things between us weird an' she doesn't wanna be with me anymore..." the sad tone of voice and the angry little puppy dog eyes make mitsuki melt, despite growing up a lot. despite being quippy and rowdy and a major brat, her katsuki will always be her little boy tugging at the bag of sweet ring pops he'd begged her to buy at the grocery store. her little boy who smiled a bright determined smile as the bag crinkled in his hand following his proud stomps to the car back home, ready for tomorrow.
a surprised throaty noise escapes katsuki when his mom places a hand in his hair, running her fingers through it. he makes a displeased noise, again, but doesn't try to stop her. mitsuki does realize her son is trying to confess to you with these chocolates, but she's a woman too and she knows you, she's known you since you were small and she knows how much you care about her son. she knows from the way katsuki kept the chocolates to himself, the barely supressed giddiness in all of his actions and the way he took his time enjoying every bite she knows and realizes that these chocolates were most definitely just for him.
and she guessed maybe you were trying to tell him something too.
she knew her katsuki had absolutely nothing to worry about, because you carried you empty ring pop container around with you in your bag and proudly explained it was 'your husband katsu' that gave it to you with a giggle. because you'd kiss his cheek without worrying about the ooh's and the kissy noises, only her son's cherry red cheeks but proud smile. because you'd giggle and laugh when he still called you his wife well into elementary school, and because you still smile so wide at the mention of his little ring pop proposal. and so, she smiled. startling katsuki by rubbing his hair fast like an almost noogie. he growls at the sudden shift, gripping his mother's arm and pulling away with a scowl, rubbing and trying to fix his hair. "the hell are you doin', hag ?!" her son seethed, and all she can do is smile.
"you got nothin' to worry about, katsuki." she says sincerely, the boy's arms drop and altough his barely there pout remains he tries to act tough, raising a brow at her "how do you know that ?"
"call it mother's intuition." her smile widens at his scoff and rolled eyes, he's better at it now and she laughs. " why do you wanna give these to her ?" she urges. he thinks for a moment, before his cheeks burn red again but his eyes go soft and warm and so much more enamoured with you than he was all those years ago in the car.
"cus..i like her.." he confesses "an' i don't want anybody else to do it before me." he finishes bitterly.
he's always been protective of you. any other boy you were paired up with or sat next to when the class seating order changed was considered public enemy number one for a while. of course, you had him on a leash, always being able to soothe him by saying that he was your number one best friend. and that was more than enough for him to throw smart glares and snarky smirks, grabbing your hand and dragging you off somewhere to show you something cool. something he knew you'd find cool because he prided himself in knowing exactly what you liked more than the other boys. your favorite ice cream, flowers, and chocolate flavor.
and mitsuki smiles. "right, you like her. so you can't let that scare you off, can you ?" mitsuki feels her heart soaring with pride, albeit with a little amusement when her son scoffs in response "course not. i ain't scared of shit." he states, she decides to ignore the irony of his statement for now.
"of course," she nods "and just between us, i think she likes you, too. i dunno how she does but.." katsuki's eyes widen like she'd just told him something ridiculous, completely ignoring her jab at him. she has to hold back a harsh laugh at how oblivious her son could be.
"that's just my guess though !" she shrugs nonchalantly "but there's only one way to find out if i'm right.."
after a beat, katsuki nods to himself with a grunt, grabbing the tray of chocolates and putting it in the fridge, ready for tomorrow, and wordlessly rolling up his sleeves and starting the dishes, as mitsuki guessed, and she smiles. she pets her son's head again briefly, ignoring his dissaproving grumbles, before giving him a pat on the back and wishing him good luck.
the next day, katsuki walks over to her, sat on the couch, immediately after coming back from school, with a proud smirk and gleaming red cheeks. and mitsuki knew she had nothing to worry about as she grins back.

I'm sorry Neil, although I love your writing and agree with your opinions on most subjects I have to disagree with you on the writers' strike. No-one should have a more privileged life as a result of being clever and creative. I worked from the age of 15 to the age of 65 in low-paid jobs, taking 1 year off to go to drama school and 3 years off to get a fine art degree. I worked in terrible but necessary jobs, labouring, stacking boxes, unloading trucks, running errands, filing, going to work on a bicycle at all hours of the day and night on shift work in all kinds of weather. Even when I was a student I was still working in part-time cleani8ng jobs and even during periods of unemployment I worked in volunteer jobs for charities and social services.
According to Mensa I have an IQ of 160 and according to Plymouth University I have a BA hons in Fine Art but I cannot accept the idea that writers and other creative people should avoid normal jobs like driving an "Uber" or working in an office/shop/factory/construction site. To accept that idea would be to create a new aristocratic class when we should abolishing the old princes and aristocrats.
What we need, I feel sure, is a redistribution of labour so that everybody who can do so would spend some time each year in blue collar work and everybody who can would get higher education and a chance to make art of one sort or another.
The idea of doing other jobs to supplement writing or drawing shouldn't be seen as a terrible thing, a punishment or a suffering. Sharing the jobs around should be seen as normal.
I mean, I've done my half century of sweat labour and it didn't hurt me too much. I'm retired now and still making art of various kinds and I've never asked anyone to pay me for any art piece I've made. making art, writing, drawing etc. is the fun stuff which we get to do in exchange for the blue collar stuff which puts food on the table.
The worst pop song ever written was Sting/Dire Straits song "Money for Nothing" which ridicules the working class from a position of educational privilege.
So what's my question? My question is: What's wrong with a writer doing other jobs to make ends meet? Sounds perfectly fine to me.
Nothing's wrong with a writer doing other jobs to make ends meet. Writers and artists have been doing that since the dawn of time. Actors too.
But by the same token, there's nothing right about assuming that writing isn't a blue-collar job, or that writers and other people who make art can only make it for love and that thus they need other jobs to subsidise their craft.
I like living in a world in which the people who make the things that make the world worth living in get paid for their work. For me, that includes the people who make films and TV, books, art and music and comics.
Having spent a lot of time on film and TV sets, it's a blue-collar world on set, and everyone is working long and hard to make the shows you love. I'm never going to suggest that the riggers or the gaffers or the make-up team or the focus-pullers should drive ubers in order to have the privilege of being on the set and working there.
Or to put it another way, from the most blue-collar writer I ever knew...

Just Confess Already!
A collection of drabbles about how your man's closest companions help him overcome his fears and finally confess his feelings for you.
Characters: Wriothesley, Neuvillette, Kaveh, Tighnari, Lyney, Itto, Childe, and Baizhu.
Now proofread.
Wriothesley:
đș Ever since Sigewinne saw you and Wriothesley in each otherâs company, she instantly figured out you two liked each other. She knew you had feelings for the Duke because she has exceptional people-reading skills and could see right through you. You tried to hide your feelings from Wriothesley, but Sigewinne could tell how your heart raced when in his presence, the subtle heat in your cheeks and the secret glances you threw his way when you thought he wasnât looking. Honestly, she might have thought you had a fever at first if these symptoms didnât occur only when the Lord of the Fortress of Meropide was around. Since you hid your feelings, Sigewinne assumed that you werenât certain if Wriothesley liked you back, to which the Fortressâs nurse could only shake her head because how can you not see he likes you?
đș Wriothesley knows your favorite tea blend like the back of his hand, and yet he constantly invites you to try out a new blend he made that he thinks youâll like. Everyone knows how much the Duke loves tea, but surely you can tell that he uses the tea as an excuse to get you to stay longer and spend more time with him? Moreover, Wriothesley shows off more in front of you, trying to impress you with his extensive tea collection intellect, hospitality, physiqueâanything, really. Sigewinne could tell how his body language shifted to appear more confident, how his voice pitched a little lower to an almost sultry timbre, and yet despite his laidback smile, the micro-expressions on his face told her clear as day that he was nervous about interacting with you. Much like you, he hid his feelings because he wasnât sure if you liked him. Even when Sigewinne tells him that you do like him back, the Duke doesnât fully believe her, the idiot.
đș Once she gets fed up with watching the two of you pussyfoot around each other, Sigewinne comes up with a covert plan on how to get at least one of you to confess their feelings. She comes up with excuses to send you over to see Wriothesley (and as expected, he keeps you around longer than you intend), finds out what foods and flowers you like to pass that information to Wriothesley in a casual conversation (and suddenly you find your favorite snacks or flowers delivered to you from an unknown sender), and consistently eavesdrops on your pair to make sure things were going smoothly. As expected, her plan works like a charm and it doesnât take long for Wriothesley to confess to you, much to the Melusineâs delight. Later on when she and the Duke have lunch together, sheâll congratulate him on his new relationship before smugly saying âI told you Y/N liked you too.â
Neuvillette:
âïž Neuvilletteâs emotions were generally a mystery to most people, even to the Melusines working under him. However, all it took was for one Melusine to see the soft and tender look in the Chief Justiceâs eyes when he gazed at you during one of your outings, and before long, every Melusine in Fontaine heard the news that their beloved Monsieur Neuvillette found a human to love. At first they were just rumors, but a few Melusines working at Palais Mermonia confirmed that the reclusive Iudex did indeed make time in his busy schedule to see you regularly. The evidence all pointed to the idea that Neuvillette and you must be lovers, because why else would the Chief Justice give you such special treatment compared to most other humans? Their assumption was almost correct. Neuvillette did indeed love you, but the two of you werenât a couple.
âïž With this revelation, the Melusines begin approaching you more frequently than before, many of them greeting and congratulating you. When you ask them what they were congratulating you for, they only reply with âWhy, on your engagement of course!â before skipping away to carry out their duties without giving you a chance to ask who you were supposedly engaged to. Your puzzlement persists until one day, when you were having your regular meeting with Neuvillette to relax over a cup of water tea, a Melusine approached your pair to congratulate you on your engagement to each other. You almost spat out your drink as the puzzle pieces fell into place, and could only watch with wide eyes as Neuvillette gently corrected the Melusine, telling her that you werenât engaged before patting her head in comfort. Though he appeared his usual composed self, internally he was as flustered as you. Understanding her mistake, the Melusine sheepishly apologized before leaving to tell her sisters the truth behind your relationship.
âïž The news sadden the Melusines, but they figure that if the two of you arenât together, then they can help you! In their eyes, both you and Neuvillette really liked each other based on how each of you behaved around the other. A few of them take it upon themselves to give you a little push by telling you all about how kind, gracious, just, and reliable Neuvillette is. Heâs so amazing, surely you want to spend your life with a man like him by your side, right? As for Neuvillette, though Melusines arenât experts on human courtship, they observed enough human couples to give the Iudex suggestions on how to court you. One Melusine recommends he give you flowers, and Neuvillette doesnât have the heart to disappoint her, so one day he gifts you a bouquet of flowers while awkwardly avoiding your gaze. The process of getting you two together is a slow one, but once you finally become a couple after a long period of pining, the Melusines celebrate and congratulate you (this time for good reason), overjoyed to have helped bring your hearts together.
Kaveh:
đ· Mehrak may be an artificial life form, but it can tell that its owner likes you. Like, really likes you to the point of doodling your image in his sketchbook, saving up as much money as he can to take you out to eat, and taking a ridiculous amount of time getting ready when he has plans to meet up with you. He has to look perfect for you, or so Kaveh told Mehrak. Having seen how infatuated itâs owner is with you, and also seen the lovestruck gaze you give the architect every time you two meet, Mehrak concludes that Kaveh and you must be a loving couple with how you pine for one another. But as time passes, Mehrak realizes that you two arenât holding hands, hugging, or kissing like the couples it has seen do, and the sentient suitcase becomes confused. In its mind, you two are already together, so why arenât you being as affectionate as it knows you want to be? Perhaps you two need a little push to get closer, it thinks, before it comes up with things it could do to help.
đ· From there, whenever Kaveh designs new buildings, Mehrak will do its best to incorporate design elements it knows you like into Kavehâs sketches. Kaveh knows what you like too, and easily recognizes your favorite flowers in the garden blueprints, fountains in the courtyard (because you said you like them), as well as your favorite vases and rugs in the interior blueprints. Theyâre not what Kaveh was planning, and he scolds Mehrak for deviating from his vision, but the little suitcase doesnât stop. When it sees items or foods you like on display in the street stalls, it will fly over to them and give a cheerful chirp as if signaling Kaveh to buy them to give you as a gift. But out of everything Mehrak does, what flusters Kaveh the most is when it drags him to you. When Mehrak spots you in the distance, it grows excited and flies over to greet you thereby yanking the poor architect with it who can do nothing but hold onto his creation for dear life.
đ· Mehrakâs efforts eventually pay off because there comes a point where Kaveh canât stop thinking about you. He already thought about you a lot as evident by his sketches of you in his private notebook, but Mehrakâs actions served to constantly remind the architect of you and made him fall even more in love with you. Itâs at this point that Kaveh gathers up the courage to finally confess to you. Mehrak couldnât be happier to see the two of you together once you accept Kavehâs feelings, even doing a little happy dance in celebration of completing its mission.
Tighnari:
đ Collei wonât know that her teacher likes you until one fateful evening when she heads toward Tighnariâs living quarters to ask him a question, and accidentally overhears him and Cyno talking about Tighnariâs romantic feelings for you. It comes as a surprise to her because she genuinely had no idea her teacher loved you. He didnât seem to treat you any differently from anyone else, but thatâs only because Tighnari does a really good job at keeping his feelings on the down low. Now that she knew, suddenly everything made sense. All the times Tighnari freed up his busy schedule to provide you help when you asked for it, the way he attentively listened to you and was the first to help if you got injured, his many gifts of various potions and plants that were good for your health, and even the fact that he frequently let you touch his ears and tail were all subtle signs of his affection for you!
đ With this new knowledge in hand, Collei schedules a day to hang out with you. Her main goal was to get your help with some of her reading materials since you often helped her when Tighnari was too busy, but her second reason was to ask you about your feelings for her teacher. When she works up the courage to breach the question, she gets the best answer she could have hoped for. You told her you really liked Tighnari, and Colleiâs eyes practically sparkle in excitement. She respects your request to not tell Tighnari about your feelings, but unfortunately ends up breaking that promise, but not of her own free will.
đ When she tried subtly pushing Tighnari into courting you, she wasnât as slick about it as she thought because her teacher is too perceptive, and Tighnari quickly found out what she was planning. The forest ranger confronted her about her strange behaviour, and Collei felt pressured to tell him everything. She tells him all about the conversation she overheard between him and Cyno, how his feelings for you were mutual, and about her good intentions to help you and him get together. Tighnari isnât mad at her. If anything, he might thank her later for giving him this information, but not before giving her a talking-to about messing in other peopleâs business. Though her plans didnât go as expected and she had to reveal your secret, in the end, things still worked out the way she hoped. After that fateful conversation, Tighnari sought you out to finally make his feelings for you clear, and Collei felt a sense of accomplishment at having done something good for the people she cared about.
Lyney:
đ© Lynette knows pretty quickly when her brother develops a crush on you. The way he ekes out time out of his schedule to visit you regularly and his constant flirting are some of his tells. And if that wasnât obvious enough, then the silly grin he wears while talking about you, and the magic tricks he designs and practices for hours on end just to impress you with are all Lynette needs to know that Lyney is down bad for you. Knowing about her brotherâs romantic feelings, Lynette will tag along with him during some of his meetings with you to observe and get to know you better. She is pleasantly surprised to learn that you like Lyney back, and finds some amusement in watching the two of you grow flustered with each otherâs flirting. Even so, she honestly would much rather not witness her brother flirting and trying to court the object of his affection since she finds it icky and feels like a third wheel.
đ© Despite her reservations, Lynette does her best to support Lyneyâs love life since she wants him to be happy. She watches Lyneyâs feelings grow from a crush to full-fledged love over the passage of time, and the growing nervousness and anxiety that comes with it. Lyney spends a lot of time coming up with magic tricks to impress you with and practices them until theyâre polished and come like second nature to him. Even so, he still gets really nervous about performing them for you, even doubting whether youâll like them. Thatâs when Lynette comes in with words of encouragement and support to try and ease his nerves. If that doesnât work, she tells Lyney point blank that you like him back. Had these words come from anyone else, Lyney wouldnât have believed them. However, because itâs Lynette whom he knows is really good at reading people, Lyney believes her, albeit with a great deal of questions about how she can be so sure about her deduction.
đ© Even now knowing you like him back, Lyney is still too nervous to confess, so Lynette changes tactics. She tries to give you hints about Lyneyâs feelings for you, calling out his behaviour right in front of you by saying things like âYouâve never given me any Rainbow Roses, and yet give Y/N a whole bunch of them!â or âLyney pulled a lot of all-nighters to try and perfect this trick just to show youâ, much to Lyneyâs dismay. Lynette does this in part because she likes to tease her brother, but also because she hopes youâll get the hint and maybe confess your feelings first if Lyney wonât. Regardless of who confesses first, the end result will still be Lyney and you becoming lovers because Lynette can be a surprisingly good wingwoman. It brings a small smile to her lips to see the two of you happy in each otherâs company now that your feelings are out in the open. All she wants is for her brother to be happy, and sheâs glad that he can find that happiness with you.
Itto:
đ The Arataki gang had long been aware of Ittoâs feelings for you, what with how frequently Itto talks about you and how he turns into an awkward, blushing mess when youâre around. Genta, Mamoru, and Akira decide to team up to concoct a series of plans on how to finally get you and Itto together, and agree that first Itto should try to court you to win your heart. They recommend Itto a bunch of romantic and affordable gifts he could give you, street stalls to take you to for delicious (and cheap) food, as well as the type of compliments Itto should say to flatter you (though all Itto can manage is âYou have, uh⊠really nice hair!â). It's a whole operation the gang affectionately calls Operation: Helping Boss win Y/Nâs heart. Shinobu has to keep a watchful eye on the proceedings of said operation lest her friends get carried away and start planning an expensive wedding before you and Itto even become a couple.
đ When Itto feels like itâs time for him to confess his feelings to you, he invites you to meet under a large sakura tree. The Arataki gang come along with him and sit in the nearby bushes to spy on the two of you. Youâll hear hushed âYou can do it, boss! We believe in you!â from the bushes as the gang members encourage Itto and give him thumbs up. As much as Itto appreciates his boysâ support, now is not the time, he thinks as he looks at you with flushed cheeks, flustered by his groupâs antics. Shinobu facepalms off to the side before dragging Mamoru, Akira, and Genta away to give you and Itto some privacy, but silently wishes him luck with his confession before leaving.
đ The gang eagerly awaits the results of the confession, feeling just as nervous as Itto. However, they donât have to wait long because Ittoâs loud whoop of joy soon reverberates through the area, indicating that you accepted his feelings. A little while later, the boys will throw a party to celebrate the occasion, splurging on some tasty food and drink, and congratulate Itto on finding love. Though they want to find love themselves, theyâre still incredibly proud of their boss because they know the effort it took him to get to this point. Even Shinobu offers Itto a couple of words of congratulations. From then on, the gang will work hard to welcome you into their group and give you as much respect as they give Itto due to your status as his lover.
Childe:
đ From the way Childe talked about you in his letters, his younger siblings were convinced that you and him were already dating. Wanting to meet the person special to their big brotherâs heart, they begged and pleaded with him to invite you over to introduce you to them. Once Ajax relents and brings you to meet his family, his younger siblings swarm you with questions about yourself and their brother, before Teucer enthusiastically asks when youâll be marrying Ajax. You exchange awkward glances with Childe, and before the Harbinger can even attempt to resolve the misunderstanding, with a heavy heart you explain to Teucer that you and Ajax are not even dating (hearing that kind of hurts Childe, he wonât lie).
đ The expressions of shock and disappointment that Teucer and the rest of the younger siblings give you is honestly heart-wrenching and makes you feel a little guilty. âSo, you donât like big brother?â Teucer asks sadly. You correct him and admit that you do like Ajax, but you donât specify exactly how. The children will pester you to tell them what kind of âlikeâ you mean, but thankfully Ajax saves you from their badgering. Only Tonia figures out that your âlikeâ is more of a âloveâ, but she is smart enough to not blab about your feelings to Teucer and Anton.
đ Despite their earlier disappointment, the children take a liking to you and constantly ask Ajax to bring you along on their family adventures or simply invite you to play games with them. During your hangouts, the children tell you about how Childe talks about you in his letters, basically ratting out his feelings for you much to Childeâs mortification. They also try to convince you to date their brother because, in their eyes, you two make a cute couple and Ajax looks really happy when next to you. The children wonât know if their words managed to convince you until the night when you and Childe were preparing dinner in their kitchen. Tonia and her brothers had a question they wanted to ask you, however as they approached the kitchen, Tonia overheard you and her older brother discussing your feelings for one another. With a smile, she quietly lead Anton and Teucer away to give you two some time to sort out your feelings, though sheâs confident that by tomorrow you will be an honorary addition to their family, and perhaps a real member sometime in the near future.
Baizhu:
đ Changsheng can easily tell that Baizhu likes you. The doctor is always polite and cordial, but with you he acts especially sweet and takes time to have a casual chat with you when you come to pick up your medicine. Fed up with constantly seeing him giving you pining glances, Changsheng asks why he wonât just confess to you and get this pining over with, to which Baizhu retorts that heâs too busy to manage a proper relationship. He worries he would be too busy to give those he loves enough time and attention, but he also fears that you donât feel the same way. His response and stubbornness frustrate Changsheng.
đ Her frustration continues to grow when she observes you and notices that telltale nervous and bashful behaviour of yours whenever you talk to Baizhu. You donât behave that way when talking to Qiqi or Gui, and you also inquire about Baizhuâs health often, clearly worried about him. Clearly, you like him more than just as your doctor. Changsheng feels like screaming when the three of you are in the same room together, forced to endure watching both Baizhu and you pining for one another, yet not making a move.
đ One day, after seeing yet another exchange between you and Baizhu thatâs full of hidden longing yet leads nowhere, her patience finally snaps. âUgh, I canât take it anymore! Why wonât the two of you confess that you both love each other? Itâs so obvious!â she exclaims and slithers out of the room with a huff to cool off her temper. She caught brief snippets of you asking Baizhu if what she said is true, before going out of earshot. She fumes for a little while, grumbling about how foolish youâre both behaving before making her way back. To her delight, she glimpses your rosy cheeks and happy grin, as well as Baizhuâs relieved expression from behind the doorway, and realizes you two finally confessed. At long last, after all this time she thinks and sighs in relief. Changsheng decides to extend her break and come back later, wanting to give you and Baizhu a chance to properly sort out your newfound relationship. She hopes Baizhu is prepared for the long talking-to shell give him about dragging out this situation for so long, but until then, sheâll guard the entrance to the room to make sure no one interrupts you.

Orange Juice Pairing - Tyler Owens x Female!Reader Summary - When it's time to interview a group of storm chasers for your new book, you get sent back to your hometown. You never would have guessed one of the people you'd be interviewing would be your ex boyfriend. And you might still be a little in love with him. Word Count - 13k my god I'm sorry Playlist Warnings - 18+ ONLY. Tyler Smut. Language
Everything looked the same, but somehow different.Â
You hadnât stepped foot in this town in ten years, and you were nervous as hell to be here now. This town held a lot of memories and people that you hadnât visited in a long time. If your agent had told you where you had been going before putting you on the plane, you probably would have asked if there was somewhere else, some other storm chaser group that wasnât based in Arkansas you could interview. She believed that she was doing a nice thing, surprising you with a trip to your hometown.Â
You didnât have the heart to tell her that it may be your hometown, but it also was home to your worst memory.Â
A sigh left your lips as you pulled up to a familiar gas station, and pushing the memories out of your mind, you put the car in park.Â
The Tornado Wranglers. That was the group of chasers you would be talking to. Your agent had insisted that they were the best of the best. Apparently they had a very large YouTube following, and their leader was, âcharismatic and oozed charmâ, according to your agent. He was also the hottest cowboy sheâd ever seen.Â
Those words brought a faint smile to your face, and you pulled out your phone to text her.Â
Landed, and am currently waiting at the gas station.Â
A few moments later, a response came through. Any sign of hot cowboys yet?Â
You let out a laugh. Not yet, but Iâll keep you informed.Â
Your fingers settled on the door handle. There was no reason to put this off anymore. You were here, and you were going to have to face what was out there, for better or worse. You opened the door and climbed out of your car.Â
It smelled the same. The gas station had been updated to be more modern, but the faint scent of gasoline and rice from the farms remained. Walking inside, you found little had changed. There was an updated register, a few more products offered, but that was about it. When your eyes caught sight of your favorite candy, a grin spread across your face, and you found yourself reaching for them, even though you hadnât had them in years.Â
You didnât recognize the cashier, which you were grateful for. A part of you had almost expected everyone you knew to pop out of nowhere as soon as your feet touched the ground. Now you realized how ridiculous that was. In fact, you might go this whole trip without setting eyes on a single person from before. Thanking the cashier, you made your way back outside right on time to see a large red truck turning in followed by a camper that was blaring a Tanner Adell song. You couldnât see the driver of the truck because of the cowboy hat and sunglasses that partially obscured his face, but the guy in the passenger seat recognized you at once. âHey! Thatâs her!â You could hear him say it since his window was open.Â
The guy pulled to a stop, and the one in the passenger seat ran around the front of the car. His hair was dark and shoulder length, but covered with a baseball cap, and the bottom half of his face supported some facial hair. He was dressed much like you expected a tornado chaser to dress, shirt and shorts in different shades of dark green with a bandana around his neck. âHey, Iâm Boone.â He said, holding out his hand for you. âI gotta say, Iâm a big fan.â He said the last part in an almost whisper, like he didnât want anyone else to hear him.Â
Which, considering you wrote romance books, he probably didnât. Not the first man to say something similar to you, you nodded with a sincere smile, shaking his hand. âItâs nice to meet you. You guys are the Tornado Wranglers Iâm assuming?âÂ
âYeah, thatâs Dexter and Dani.â He said pointing to two people that were exiting the camper behind them. âThereâs Lily.â He said, pointing to a girl getting out of another car that you hadnât even noticed. âAnd this is our fearless leader, Tyler.âÂ
At that moment, the world around you slowed down. In fact, you were pretty sure all the air was sucked out of your lungs. It couldnât be him. Out of every person in the world you could be working with, it couldnât be the one . . . But he took off his cowboy hat, and even though it had been ten years, he was unmistakable. You would know that face anywhere, after all, you saw it all the time in your dreams.Â
For a moment, you thought he might not recognize you. It had been ten years, youâd both changed in that time, but the moment his eyes landed on you, he knew exactly who you were. He said your name, pure disbelief in his tone as he took a step forward.Â
You nodded, unsure of how to respond. The two of you hadnât left on the best of terms, but there were so many years before that. So many beautiful memories that youâd never be able to forget. Half of you wanted to run and hide, the other half (okay maybe more like three fourths) wanted to run into his arms. How could you do that though when you were the one who left?Â
Tyler didnât hesitate though. You watched as a slow grin formed on his face that turned into a bright smile, a smile that never failed to make your heart skip a beat, and the next moment he was hurrying towards you. Within seconds you were wrapped up in a hug so tight your feet werenât even on the ground anymore.Â
God it felt good. You slid your arms around his neck, hugging him back just as tight, and let out a little laugh as he spun you around. Your eyes closed automatically, and you realized at that moment while you may have written about the way Tyler made you feel, it was nothing compared to the actual emotions. You remembered how his arms always felt like home, and it was no different now. They must have some sort of magic, because no matter how long it had been, they brought your mindset right back to the teenager who was crazy in love with her boyfriend.Â
After what was probably too long, Tyler put you back on the ground, slowly and a little too intimately for the strangers his team thought you were. In fact, he didnât even fully let go of you, keeping his hands on your hips. You found yourself unable to let go of him too though, your hands resting on his forearms as he stared at you in disbelief. âI canât believe youâre here.âÂ
âI canât believe youâre here.â You said, squeezing his arms. âYouâre a storm chaser?â It made perfect sense when you thought about it. Tyler had always had such a good instinct for weather. You couldnât count the amount of times during school when he told you football games were going to get canceled because it was going to storm. He was never wrong. You just never expected him to quit bull riding.Â
âYeah, got a meteorology degree from U of A and everything.â Tyler said, and your breath caught in your throat. Not just because his thumbs had started stroking your hips, but because of his words too.Â
Tyler had done it. He had done what you had always known he was beyond capable of doing. The shy smile on his face, the love, care, and pride you still, and always would have for him rushed to the surface. Overwhelmed with emotions from the past, you felt tears fill up your eyes as you looked at him. âIâm so proud of you, Ty.â You told him, and you meant every word.Â
There was no other way to describe it. He was beaming, and god you had forgotten how beautiful that smile was. It was like the sun, almost too bright to look at.Â
âI get the feeling you two know each other?âÂ
You had forgotten that little aspect of being with Tyler. How everything else would disappear the moment he looked into your eyes. You took a step back from him, letting go of his arms even though every part of your body wanted you to keep touching him. His hands lingered on you for a moment, but then he let go as well. âI guess you could say that.â Tyler said, âthis is the girl that broke my heart ten years ago.âÂ
âWait,â one of the girls, you were pretty sure it was Lily, stepped forward. âI thought that girlâs name was-â
They knew your name. Tyler had talked about you enough that they knew who you were. âThat is my name. My writing name is a pseudonym.â You admitted. Heat rushed to your skin, but there was no malice in Tylerâs voice or face. He was just looking at you with a fond smile, as if lost in the same memories you found swirling around in your mind.Â
âSo, youâre a big time writer now, huh? You always did tell the best stories.â Tyler said.Â
âMan, you should read them. In fact, now that I think about it, one of the main guys kinda reminds me of-â Boone started to say, but you cut him off.Â
There was no way you were ready for that conversation. âSo, um, where did you guys want to talk?â You spoke up, trying to change the subject as subtly as you could.Â
The look Tyler gave you said he saw right through your bullshit, but he didnât comment on it, just grinned mischievously at you. âHow about Frankieâs?âÂ
Of course he would suggest Frankieâs. It was the bar that the two of you used to go to all the time after rodeos. There were a lot of memories of playing pool, laughing with friends and dancing to whatever band was playing there. While you werenât sure you were ready for all those memories to hit again, the draw of going back there with Tyler was too much. âOkay,â you agreed. âIâll meet you guys- â
âNo need for that. You can ride with me.â Tyler said, patting the large red truck.Â
Being in an enclosed space with your ex boyfriend definitely didnât seem like a good idea. âOh, thatâs not-â
âItâs really cool. Youâll want to take a peek. He customized it all himself and everything. This baby can drive straight into a tornado.â Boone said while Tyler continued to grin at you.Â
âResearch is what youâre here for right?â Tyler asked you.Â
Yes. That was a good reminder for yourself. You were here to learn about the essentials of storm chasing for your next book, not to spend all your time thinking about how good Tyler looked after ten years. âRight,â you agreed, and then watched as Tyler walked all the way over to the passenger seat and held it open for you.Â
âWell, in that case, right this way maâam.âÂ
ââââââââ
To your slight surprise, Tyler kept everything professional in the truck. He showed you all the features, and you couldnât help but be mesmerized by it all. It was impressive, not only what he had thought of, but had attached himself. âIs this normal? I mean do a lot of storm chasers have vehicles theyâve rigged up?âÂ
âNothing like this.â He said with pride in his voice as he grinned over at you. âI spent years putting this thing together.âÂ
âWhen you do something, you always go big.â You teased, smirking at him. âRemember that time in high school when we just wanted to fill the principal's office with ducks, and instead you said we should fill the whole school?âÂ
Tyler scoffed. âOf course I do. I got a month of detention for that because Belinda ratted me out.âÂ
âYou did stand her up for a date.â You reminded him.Â
âYeah well,â Tyler glanced over at you again. âYou needed me.âÂ
Your cheeks heated as the memories of that night flooded your mind. It hadnât been long after your Dad had passed. You had gotten stupid drunk at a party that he hadnât wanted to go to. You had been walking home, stumbling home really, when a familiar truck pulled up beside you. It turned out that Tyler had been waiting nearby for at least an hour after feeling like something was off.Â
He held you in his arms in that truck for hours while you cried, letting out emotions youâd been holding back for months. Then he took you home and snuck into your bedroom to hold you some more. The next morning you told him you didnât want to be just friends anymore. He told you he hadnât wanted to be just friends for a long time.Â
The two of you were inseparable from that moment until the day you left. Almost as if he could sense where your mind was, a palpable tension filled the truck.Â
You werenât ready to talk about it though.Â
Thankfully you were saved from any further discussion as your phone went off with a text. It was from your agent, checking in again.Â
âBoyfriend?â Tyler asked.Â
You shot him a look, trying to bite back a smile. âThatâs not very subtle of you.âÂ
He sent you a look right back. âWasnât trying to be.âÂ
âAgent.â You answered, choosing to ignore his response. âWho I now have to awkwardly tell that the âhottest cowboy sheâs ever seenâ is actually my ex-boyfriend.âÂ
âSo you really had no idea?â Tyler asked.Â
You shook your head. âNot a clue. I didnât even know where I was going until I got to the airport and she sent my travel information.âÂ
âGotta say . . . Iâm surprised. I never thought youâd step foot in the town again.â He said, pulling into the small parking lot.Â
Glancing up at the building, you bit your bottom lip. âI wasnât sure I would either.âÂ
Frankieâs was exactly what you would picture when you hear the words, âsmall town barâ, but as soon as you walked in, you couldnât help but smile at the familiarity. It was big for a small town bar, featuring bars on both sides of the room, plenty of tables, as well as a couple of pool tables, and a stage with a small dancing space in front of it. Most of the furniture was wooden and looking a little rough, but they kept the lighting dim enough that it wasnât very noticeable. There werenât a whole lot of people, but there was no band playing, and it was a weekday night. It put you a little more at ease.Â
âThis place hasnât changed a bit.â You said, looking around.Â
Tyler shook his head in agreement. âThatâs why I love it so much. Feel like Iâm right back into my early twenties when I walk back in here.âÂ
âThat was a long time ago for you.â You teased.Â
He clutched his chest, scrunching his eyes at you and giving you a wounded look, but there was a playful edge to it. âOuch. So you do still have some bite to you.âÂ
You smirked at him. âYou bring it out in me.âÂ
Tylerâs frown turned to a grin as he placed his hand on the small of your back, sending chills down your spine. âLetâs grab a booth for everybody.âÂ
The next several hours consisted of you asking the Tornado Wranglers crew every question you wrote down as well as thought of. They not only answered honestly, but never talked down to you like you were stupid for not knowing something either. You loved the relationship that they clearly had with each other. They treated each other like family, with their own strengths and weaknesses that the other members of the team either supported or built upon. You knew immediately it was something you were going to want to include in your book. Not only that, but they were hilarious, and since they knew who you were, they seemed to be ribbing Tyler extra hard.Â
âAll right, you know damn well that was an accident.â Tyler said, pointing a finger at Dexter who was laughing hysterically along with the rest of the table.Â
âI donât know, it doesnât sound like an accident to me Tyler.â You said, raising your eyebrows at the man sitting next to you.Â
Tyler narrowed his eyes at you and bumped your knee with his under the table. âNow donât you start.âÂ
âHey, donât be rude to our guest.â Dani said.Â
âToo late for that. He hasnât even gotten her a drink yet.â Lily spoke up, shaking her head at him in disappointment.Â
âOh, you donât have to-â
Tyler shook his head. âNo, theyâre right.â He started sliding out of the booth. His hand reached up and gave your shoulder a squeeze. âIâve got you.âÂ
âI notice he didnât ask you what you wanted to drink.â Dexter said with a little grin after Tyler made his way to the bar.Â
You bit your bottom lip. You hoped he remembered. âWeâve known each other a long time.âÂ
âOkay, now that heâs gone.â Boone leaned forward, putting his hands on the table. âOne Last Rodeo. Theo. Heâs based on Tyler isnât he?âÂ
Heat rushed to your face. So Boone definitely had read your books. Looking back on it, it was pretty obvious that your first book had been based on Tyler. You were heartbroken, and trying to find a way to get it out on the page. The book was your way of coping with your breakup and how you wished it would have ended instead of the way that it did. By the time someone wanted to actually publish it, you realized how obvious the similarities were, and it was one of the reasons you wanted to write under a fake name. Since Boone had read your book, and now knew that Tyler was your ex . . . It couldnât have been hard to put together. Still, you couldnât bring yourself to admit it outloud. âA writer never tells her secrets.â You said.Â
They were all grinning at you though. âOh, look how flushed her face is.â Dani said.Â
âItâs definitely about him.â Lily said.Â
You opened your mouth to deny it, even though it seemed pointless, but before you could you were interrupted. âHere you go,â he said, sliding back into the booth and putting a glass filled with an orange drink in front of you.Â
âWhat is that?â Boone asked, âsome kind of tropical-â
âOrange juice.â You answered, smiling over at Tyler. âYou did remember.âÂ
Tyler gave you a look of disbelief, like he was insulted. âOf course I did.â When he saw the confused looks of his friends he explained, âshe doesnât drink.âÂ
âTwelve years sober.â You said. âNot something Iâm against anyone else doing, itâs just not for me.â Tyler slung his arm over the back side of the booth closest to you, and you had to fight the immediate urge to lean back into his embrace. The rest of the team was smirking at you, and you lifted the glass to your lips to take a sip. âSo Iâve just got one more question for you guys.â You said trying to change the subject.Â
âFire away.â Dani said.Â
âWhy do you guys do it?â That was what you really wanted to know. âI grew up here. I know how dangerous, how scary these things can be. Why do you guys willingly risk your life for something that seems to have no real reward?âÂ
There was silence around the table for a moment, and you made sure to avoid Tylerâs face. When you had written these questions, you had no clue he was one of the ones youâd be asking, and this question hit a little too close to the reason for your breakup. You didnât think you could look at him if he answered.Â
âWe like to help.â Lily said. âThatâs a factor. We sell these shirts, and we use the money to get people stuff like food and water.âÂ
âThen thereâs just the beauty of it. Yes, itâs dangerous and destructive, but thereâs also something incredible about it as well. Thereâs so many factors to tornados we donât understand. Seeing them come together in person is . . . Indescribable.â Dexter added, while they all nodded their heads in agreement.Â
âThereâs the adrenaline too.â Boone spoke up with a grin. âIâve never felt more alive than when weâre chasing.âÂ
Your body tensed at his words, memories of your last argument with Tyler trying to invade your mind. Once again, you felt sure he could sense what you were thinking as you felt his gaze on the side of your face.Â
âItâs hard to put into words without actually seeing it.â Tyler said. âYou should come on a chase.âÂ
That made you look at him, your eyes wide in shock that he would even suggest it. âI donât think thatâs a good idea.âÂ
âWhy not?â Tyler leaned towards you. âScared?â He asked with a smirk.Â
âYes.â You answered honestly.Â
âAh, youâd be perfectly safe with Tyler. Heâs got a knack for these things.â Boone said, and you looked over at him to find him grinning at the two of you. âYouâd barely be in any danger at all.âÂ
You didnât doubt that, but heading straight into something that could be so destructive had never been your thing. Hell, you hadnât even gotten on a horse until Tyler talked you into it. âStill, any danger is too much danger for me.âÂ
Tyler shrugged. âThe offer is there if you change your mind.â Tyler said, and you knew him well enough to see the flash of disappointment on his face.Â
Weirdly, you felt a little disappointed in yourself too.Â
ââââââââ
For the past hour, youâd been pacing around your motel room. Tyler had driven you back to your car, then followed you to the motel that funnily enough, him and the rest of the Wranglers were staying at as well. It was the only motel in your hometown, but knowing that Tyler was a few doors down from you made you anxious.Â
God, seeing him again had been your worst nightmare and best daydream all rolled into one. It was so easy to think that after ten years you were over someone. Then you see them again, and everything comes flooding back. All the beautiful memories and all the mistakes you wish you could take back, and there were a lot of mistakes you wished you could take back with Tyler. Youâd never loved anyone the way you loved him, and you didnât think you ever would. Seeing him again had reminded you of that.Â
Letting out a sad sigh, you sat down on your bed. Then there was Tylerâs invitation and disappointment. You hated disappointing him almost as much as you hated disappointing yourself. It had taken several years of therapy and hard work to not be so scared of ending up with the same fate as your father. You had grown though. You had learned about yourself and the things that caused those reactions. While getting close to a tornado was definitely dangerous, you knew that Tyler would take care of you. You also knew that you didnât want to miss out on any more experiences in your life because you were afraid.Â
You stood up, not allowing yourself another moment to try and talk yourself out of it, and left your room, knocking at the one three doors down.Â
Tyler answered, clad in his white t-shirt and jeans, and smiled when he realized it was you. âHey, whatâs up?âÂ
Good lord was there ever a moment when this man didnât look incredible? You swallowed, then nodded. âI changed my mind.âÂ
He leaned against the doorway, eyebrows raised in confusion. âAbout what?âÂ
You took a deep breath. âI wanna go on a chase.â
Tyler beamed.Â
ââââââââ
It took three days for a storm to come through that Tyler felt good about. They had done some chasing in that time, but Tyler hadnât brought you along because he said they hadnât been the âright oneâ. The wait made you anxious, but you trusted Tylerâs instincts, and every night they were back at the motel ready to tell you about their day. You thought that they might eventually get bored of all your questions, but they were not only great, but amazing storytellers as well. You could see why their YouTube channel was so popular.Â
Not that you spent a whole day watching it while they were gone or anything.Â
Finally though, the day arrived and you found yourself standing outside by Tylerâs truck waiting for the team to join you, your heart pumping a little faster than normal. âMorning!â A voice called, pulling your attention away from inspecting Tylerâs truck again, and you saw the man in question heading towards you with a paper sack in one hand and an iced coffee in the other. âHavenât talked yourself out of this yet?âÂ
You shook your head. âNope. Iâm doing this.â You smiled as Tyler handed you the coffee and bag. âDid you seriously get-?â
âYour breakfast sandwich and coffee? Yes, you need fuel for the road.â Tyler used his now free hands to open the door for you. âHop on in, and letâs get going.âÂ
âWait,â you said, glancing around. âIs everyone else meeting us there?âÂ
Tyler leaned against the door, and you watched as he looked at the sky behind you, then turned his gaze back to you. âNah, I gave them the day off. I didnât want you to have to deal with pressure from them if we get there and you decide not to do this.âÂ
You bit your lip. He was always so thoughtful. Back when he knew you, he would have had to drag you to this truck kicking and screaming, which he never would, and the fact that he wanted to save you some embarrassment in case you decided not to do this was just like him. Unable to help yourself, you reached out and gave his hand a squeeze. âThank you.â You said sincerely.Â
âWell,â you inhaled sharply as Tyler took a little step closer to you. âIâve got to admit, getting you alone for the day also played a factor.âÂ
Your eyes widened and a shy smile formed on your face even while your mind was spinning. Over the past few days there had been brief moments where you thought Tyler might have been flirting with you, but you talked yourself out of it. Now though . . . Was there actually a chance this man still wanted you? He couldnât. Not after how you had treated him. It didnât make sense. âYou might end up regretting that, you know?â You told him.Â
Tyler reached up, and your whole body froze as he brushed some hair behind your ear. âIâve never regretted a moment Iâve been with you.âÂ
His response took the breath from your lungs. âTy . . .â You didnât know what to say. Your heart was beating so fast it hurt. How could he possibly not regret that night? The night that you broke his heart?Â
âIâve missed you calling me that, you know?â He smiled at you, and then took a step back. âCome on, letâs get going.âÂ
Once again, you wanted to say something, but what? Nothing sounded right in your mind. So instead you hopped up in the truck and watched as he closed the door behind you.Â
ââââââââ
âCan I be honest?â You asked him several hours later.Â
âI didnât realize you ever werenât.â Tyler joked, sending you a smirk.Â
You swatted at him playfully. âI didnât expect all the waiting. What happens if nothing comes?âÂ
âOh, somethingâs gonna happen.â He insisted, looking at some clouds in the distance. âDonât you have any faith in me?âÂ
While he was kidding, you didnât stop the serious words that slipped past your lips. âYou know I have all the faith in the world in you.âÂ
Tyâs smile turned from something joking to something genuine. âEven after all these years?âÂ
You smiled at him. âIt never stopped. I always knew you were destined for great things.â You admitted, and it was the truth. In fact, youâd never been more sure of anything in your life.Â
âJust not riding on the back of a bull.â He replied, and though he winked at you, the mention of one of the reasons from your breakup filled the air with tension.Â
Then the question that you had been dying to ask since you first saw him burst from your lips. âWhy did you quit?âÂ
Tyler looked at you then, and you knew that look well. He was reading your expression, your eyes, your body language. Heâd always been able to tell what you were thinking simply by looking at you, and this time was no different. âIt wasnât because of you.â He said, reaching over to place his hand on top of yours and giving it a gentle squeeze. âI mean, you were part of the reason, but it was more about me realizing you were right, and I could do more with my life.âÂ
He knew you had been carrying that guilt of wondering if you were the reason he quit something that he had loved so much. He told you that you werenât, but you still frowned, looking out at the darkening sky miles away. âI wish Iâd said it differently.âÂ
There was silence for a moment as you two watched the storm, but it wasnât uncomfortable. It felt more reflective, and your thoughts were only confirmed when he spoke up. âDo you ever wonder where weâd be now? If youâd stayed?âÂ
If only he knew . . . âI guess that depends.â You bumped your shoulder against his. âWould you have proposed by now?â You teased, but a part of you wanted to know the answer.Â
Tyler grinned at you, an adoring look on his face. âOh definitely.âÂ
A flush heated up your face as a pleased smile fell on your lips. âThen I guess weâd be married and driving each other crazy.âÂ
âNot to mention being driven crazy by the kids.â Tyler added.Â
You let out a laugh. âAfter ten years, you still want three kids?âÂ
âThree is a good number.â He defended.Â
You rolled your eyes. âYou know I have this friend now. She just had her fourth. Going over to her house almost makes me not want any at all.âÂ
âThatâs because she has four. Three, perfect number.â Tyler said, holding up three fingers. âFour?â He added a finger. âNow thatâs just asking for trouble.âÂ
âEspecially if they were your kids.â You added, grinning over at him.Â
âAh, we could handle them.â Tyler said with a wink in your direction.Â
A vision formed in your mind of what he was describing. Three kids, all of varying ages, but in your mind it was two boys and one girl. The boys would be almost an exact copy of Tyler, blonde hair and blue-green eyes, dimples and charming smiles. Troublemakers, but also sweethearts who cared deeply and loved life to the fullest. Then the little girl. She definitely had a majority of your features but with Tylerâs smile. She would have Tyler so wrapped around her finger it would almost be embarrassing. Then thereâd be Tyler and you, watching all the craziness unfold from your back porch with a glass of sweet tea in your hands. You were happy. You were loved, and you were home.Â
At that moment, you realized you never wanted anything so badly in your life. You wanted it so badly your chest literally ached with it. Looking over at Tyler made it hurt worse. You thought being away from him would make the love you had fade, but it turned out, the opposite had occurred. In fact, seeing him watch the sky with a content smile and talking about what could have been made you realize you loved him more now. You had loved him in high school, youâd loved him in his early twenties, but this was different. You were different and so was he.Â
The question was . . . Would he take you back if you tried? You knew you didnât deserve it. You were the reason the two of you broke up. If you were in his shoes, you didnât think you could forgive yourself. Tyler had always been a better person than you though.Â
Was it worth a shot trying?Â
âHey,â Tyler pulled you out of your thoughts, lifting your hand and pointing it to something in the distance. âDo you see those clouds?âÂ
You looked out to where he was pointing your hand and frowned. Those definitely looked dark, and they were . . . âAre those spinning?âÂ
âThatâs the updraft, and itâs cycling.â He told you.Â
âAnd that means . . .â
âThat means-â Tyler stood up, put his baseball cap back on his head, and held out his hand to help you off the bed of his truck. âWeâve got a winner.âÂ
ââââââââ
You were going to throw up. At least it felt like you were. Not five minutes after you guys reached the storm did a tornado touchdown. Tyler said it was rated for an EF1, so it would be safe to drive into. Well, as safe as driving into a tornado could be. As fast as your heart was pounding, and as sick as you felt you might be, you leaned forward to get a better look out the window. You couldnât deny the beauty in it. âIâve never seen something so amazing and scary at the same time.â You admitted.Â
âItâs incredible isnât it?âÂ
As nervous as you were, the look on Tylerâs face made you smile. God you hadnât seen him this excited since he had been on the back of a bull. âIt is. Especially when it doesnât look like itâs going to kill me.âÂ
Tyler laughed, and he pulled to a stop. âNah, this is just an EF 1. This and the truck are going to keep you completely safe.â Tyler said, reaching to tug at the harness he had secured so tightly to your body that you felt like you couldnât take a deep breath.Â
As you watched the tornado race forward, you felt your heart rate start to kick back up and took a deep breath. âAnd you too right?â You asked, biting your bottom lip.Â
He parked the truck and faced you, a rare serious expression crossing his face. âYou know I wouldnât let anything happen to you.âÂ
At that moment, you realized you did. Tyler would never willingly put you in danger. He cared about you too much. If he said it was safe, it was. âI do.â You agreed, taking a deep breath, well, as much as you could in this harness. âLetâs do this.âÂ
The grin came back to his face full force as he started pressing buttons on his truck, anchoring it down into the ground as the tornado got closer and closer. âYouâre gonna love this.âÂ
âOh my god, oh my god, oh my god.â Even though you knew you were safe, there was nothing quite like a tornado heading straight towards you while youâre stuck in place. âTyler . . . This is crazy.âÂ
It was getting closer and closer. Only yards away, and your heart was pounding harder and harder in your chest. You didnât even think. Your hand reached for his, gripping it tightly as the tornado hit the truck.Â
Tyler gave your hand a reassuring squeeze, âlook up.â He called over the wind, and you did as he asked, leaning towards your side of the car to see out the window.Â
It was the most incredible thing youâd ever seen. You could see all the way up the funnel to the clouds above as the vortex passed over you. Youâd never seen anything like it in your life, and a laugh of disbelief left your lips as you watched it pass over you. When it was done you looked over at Tyler, shock all over your face. âWas that real? Did that actually just happen? Did I just see inside a damn tornado?!âÂ
Letting out a chuckle at your questions, Tyler nodded. âYou sure as hell did.âÂ
You let out another laugh yourself and started unbuckling all of your straps. You needed one last look to convince yourself that you had done it. Once you were free, you hopped out of the truck, running around the back to watch it keep going through the field behind you. You heard the truck door close again, but you didnât turn around, still mesmerized, until you felt Tylerâs hand on your shoulder.Â
âSo, how do you feel?â He asked.Â
His question was loaded for so many reasons. Years ago, he never would have gotten you close enough to even see a tornado, much less let it speed over you. You were so proud of yourself for doing this, but also sad. How many other life experiences had you missed because of how your fatherâs life choices had traumatized you? There was no good way to answer his question, so you just did what you wanted to. You jumped up, latching your arms around his neck, and your legs around his waist.Â
Of course he caught you easily, laughing as he spun you around and held you close. One of his hands rested on your back, while the other cradled your head against his shoulder. After a moment, he let out a content sigh. âIâm so proud of you.âÂ
You clutched tighter to him. He had no idea how much those words meant coming from him. Tyler had seen you at your absolute worst, when you had no one but him. You had clung to him then, leaning on him more than was healthy until you knew that you couldnât anymore. It made you want to cry, knowing how far you had come and that Tyler could see it. You pulled back to look at him so he could see your watery smile too. âIâm proud of myself.âÂ
The butterflies in your stomach were doing somersaults as he looked at you. His fingers tightened in your hair, and you felt his arm muscles tense against your back. There was tension in the air, no doubt about it, and you found your eyes drawn to those familiar soft lips. You wanted to kiss him. A part of you wondered if it would be the same, or even better because you both were older. You werenât sure, but either way, you wanted to find out. When you saw his eyes glance at your lips too, you knew he was thinking the same thing. Unable to help yourself, you let your fingers tangle in his hair, pulling yourself the slightest bit closer to him until your noses were brushing.Â
Then his phone rang.Â
Whatever spell the two of you had been under broke. Tyler slowly let you down to the ground, but reached for your hand, tangling your fingers with his and keeping you close. âHey, Boone, whatâs up?âÂ
You glanced down at your hands with a soft smile. Tylerâs hands were big and calloused from work and bulls, but they felt nice. You brushed your thumb on the outside of his palm, and he gave your hand a squeeze.Â
âYeah, we got one. She handled it like a pro.â Tyler told him, grinning over at you. There was a bit of silence for a moment as the phone conversation continued. âLet me ask her, and Iâll let you know? All right, sounds good. Iâll see you soon.â He hung up the phone and tugged you a little closer again. âFeel like celebrating seeing inside your first tornado?â Tyler asked.Â
ââââââââ
Three hours later you found yourself in new clothes, freshly showered, line dancing between Dani and Boone. You were almost crying from laughing so hard, and your face hurt from smiling so much. It blew your mind that two weeks ago you were sitting in your apartment in South Carolina feeling alone and stuck with writer's block. Now you were back in your hometown, having a blast, writing faster than you had in years, and desperate to get back together with the man who was watching you from the booth, an adorable smile on his face. Feeling a little bold after your almost kiss, you sent him a wink as Boone spun you around, causing his smile to widen.Â
âYou guys are disgustingly cute.â Dani said as the song slowed down and the three of you started to exit the floor.Â
Heat rushed to your face, and you found yourself asking the question youâd been wanting to ask for days. âWhy have you guys been so nice to me anyway? Tylerâs your best friend, and Iâm his ex. I broke his heart, but youâve been nothing but kind to me since the start.âÂ
Boone and Dani exchanged a look. âYeah, youâre right. If it had been another one of Tylerâs exes we probably would hate you.â Boone said, shrugging his shoulders.Â
âBut you were the one who got away for Tyler, and heâs never said anything but great things about you. Plus,â Dani reached out and patted your shoulder. âIt's kinda obvious the two of you are still in love with each other.âÂ
The words hit you like a truck, and then you felt stupid for not realizing it before. You looked at the man sitting at the booth again. This time he was talking to Dexter, his expression animated, and his hands moving wildly with his words. Of course you still loved him. You never stopped. You buried it, hid from it so you could try to better yourself. When you left, you knew you werenât good enough for him, you probably still werenât, but now you knew you could love him like you were supposed to. If he was open to it. Boone and Dani made it seem like he was. He had given you signs that he was at least interested . . . The only question was how could you show him that you wanted it too?Â
An idea hit, and a small smile formed on your face. âIâll catch up with you guys in a minute okay?â You said to their confused faces and headed to the DJ stand. You gave him twenty bucks, which he gladly took, and promised your song would be next. By the time youâd made it back to the booth where everyone was seated, Never Leave by Bailey Zimmerman was playing.Â
You approached Tyler, who was looking at you curiously as you held your hand out to him. âDance with me?â You said, biting your bottom lip.Â
A surprised, but happy smile formed on his face. âYes maâam.âÂ
It was not your and Tylerâs first dance. Probably wasnât even your hundredth, and dancing with him was as effortless as remembering how to ride a bike. One of his hands rested on the small of your back while the other took yours. You placed your hand on his bicep, giving his arm a squeeze. You didnât want to say anything. The lyrics of the song could do all the talking for you. Tyler led you around the floor with ease, and as the song went on, you could see the moment the words started to sink in. He leaned forward, his forehead pressing against yours, and he whispered your name so reverently it made you close your eyes.
âJust listen,â you said softly, tightening your grip on his hand, letting the song say the words you wanted to. Tylerâs arm pulled you even closer until it was almost hard to dance, your bodies pressed against each other. Your heart was pounding so hard you were sure he could feel it against his chest, but you didnât care anymore. You were laying it all out there now.Â
As the song ended, you felt Tylerâs lips against your forehead, soft and lingering. Warmth exploded throughout your body, and you pulled back to look up at him.Â
âCome back to the hotel with me?â You asked, your thumb caressing his arm, almost pleading with your voice.Â
Tylerâs hand reached up to cup your cheek, and you immediately leaned into his touch, your whole body craving it. âAre you sure?â He asked.Â
You nodded. There was nothing you were more sure about right now.
He took a step back from you, grabbing your hand and tugging you back to the booth where everybody else was sitting with knowing eyes. He told them that the two of you were leaving. You tried to ignore them, but you couldnât help but grin when you saw them giving you a thumbs up or silently cheering as Tyler had his back turned.Â
The ride was quiet, but it wasnât uncomfortable, it was more filled with tension, and the two of you kept glancing at each other and smiling. He never let go of your hand either until he parked at the motel and came around to open your door. Before you could get down though, he stopped you. âThis is what you want right? I donât want to misinterpret what I think is happening here or pressure you in any way-â
You placed your hands on his face and leaned closer, interrupting him with your first kiss in ten years.Â
For a moment, he didnât respond. It was clear you had surprised him, but then his hands gripped your hips, and he was kissing you back.Â
It was even better than you remembered. It had been good back in late high school and your early twenties, there was no doubt about it. Something about now was different though. Maybe it was because you were older, maybe it was because it had been so long, or maybe it was because you felt healed. Whatever it was, kissing Tyler now blew every kiss youâd had before out of the water.Â
It was a short kiss, chaste, just to reassure him that you did want him, but when you pulled away the two of you were still breathless. âAm I crazy or was that incredible?â You asked, your hands sliding down his face to his chest.Â
Tyler laughed, but nodded, his own hands dragging down your thighs and resting on your knees. âIt was,â he replied, but then a smirk fell on his lips, âbut we can do better.âÂ
Not one minute later, you were trying to open the door to your room, Tylerâs large hand low on your stomach as his lips left soft kisses on your neck from behind. You could barely concentrate as heat pooled where his hand rested, and you could not get the key in the door as he kissed a certain spot on your neck. âTy,â you said through an exasperated laugh. âIf you keep doing that Iâll never get us in this room.â
He took the key from your hand, but didnât stop kissing your neck. You closed your eyes in pleasure as he did, letting him take over the door situation, and in a frustratingly short amount of time, you heard the door knob turn. Your eyes snapped open, turning in Tylerâs arms to find him smirking at you again.Â
âHow the hell did you do that so easily?â You asked, weaving your arms around his neck as he carefully backed you into the room.Â
He shrugged, shutting the door behind him. âGuess you were just too distracted to focus.âÂ
You playfully glared at him, âI was not-â but you let out a gasp as he suddenly spun you around, pinning you to the door with his body.Â
He didnât say anything for a moment, just smiling at you as his hands rested on your hips, his thumbs brushing under your shirt to touch heated skin. âYou were, but itâs okay. I liked it.âÂ
Well he had certainly become more confident in the years apart. Not that he ever wasnât, but you could definitely tell a difference. However, you had gained a little bit of confidence too, and you smirked at him. âOh, I can tell.â You replied, pushing your hips forward to press against the hardness you felt.Â
Tyler bit his lip at your movements, his hands gripping your hips harder. âWe donât have to do anything. I want you to know that.âÂ
It drove you crazy, how he could go from being sexy and confident to sweet and respectful within a minute. You slid your arms up his chest and around his neck, tugging his head down to yours. âI want to.â You told him. âDo you?â
He let out a breathless chuckle, âYou have no idea how badly I want to.â Tyler said, âIâve wanted to since the moment I saw you at that gas station.â He told you, his nose brushing against yours.Â
Tyler had been wanting to get together with you for that long? Your heart started thumping wildly in your chest, and you let out a sigh as his warm hand slipped up the back of your shirt pressing you against him. âYou know, I donât look the same as I did ten years ago.â You admitted, a little bit of insecurity leaking out as you thought about the last time the two of you were together.Â
He shook his head, and his hands left a trail of heat as they slid down your back to grip your thighs. âYou look better.âÂ
Your hands slipped into his soft hair. âNow, I know thatâs not true.âÂ
You let out a nose of surprise as Tyler used his grip on your thighs to lift you into the air with his body, smirking up at you. âI think youâre forgetting . . .â His lips found a spot on your neck that he had always kissed, a spot that made chills explode over your body and made a soft moan leave your lips. âI know this body better than anyone.â He whispered in your ear.Â
Tyler was right. He had been with you more than anyone else, seen every part of you bare. So what if you didnât look the same as you did in high school. You were sure he didnât either. Based on what you felt against your body though, you didnât think that was a bad thing. You let your hands trail from his hair down his neck and to his chest, noting how his body flexed under your touch. âI think I might need a refresher on yours.â You teased, biting your lip as you played with the buttons on his shirt.Â
He raised his eyebrows, a smirk on his lips. âOh, is that what you need?âÂ
With fingers that were much steadier than what you felt, you unbuttoned a couple of the top buttons from his shirt. It wasnât much, but enough to slip your hands into and touch his heated skin. It was the first time you had touched him, really touched him, in so long, and it made you ache for so much more. You pressed your forehead against his, âRight now I need everything youâre willing to give me.â You admitted honestly.Â
âWell then,â Tylerâs hands slid down to your ass, holding you close as he started carrying you to the bed. âItâs a good thing Iâm willing to give you everything.â He said as he placed you gently on the bed.Â
His words made your heart stop for a second and a huge swell of affection for him filled your heart. You wanted to tell him that you still loved him then. That you wanted to give him everything too. The words wouldnât come though. Not yet anyway.Â
So instead, you tried to say them with a kiss. You sat up, grabbing his face in your hands, and tugged him down to meet your lips. The first time you had surprised him, and it took him a moment to respond. That was not the case this time. He kissed you back at once, moving your lips in a dance the two of you knew well. While the first kiss had been sweet, this one was full of passion and tenderness. You let out a little sigh when his lips parted and attempted to pull him closer. It had been so long since you had gotten to really touch him, and you didnât want to waste another second not doing it.Â
He complied, climbing into the bed on top of you, settling between your thighs and letting out a strangled groan as you pushed your hips up into him. He pressed his own against yours and you let out your own moan at the delicious friction.Â
The sound made him pull away however, and you frowned, since that was the opposite of what you wanted right now. You watched him as he sat up, his gaze traveling over your body with such intensity you could feel your face heating up. Tylerâs hands rested on your stomach finally, tugging up your tank top so slowly it made you want to just yank it off yourself so his hands could be all over you. Waiting turned out to be worth it though, because as soon as your shirt was off, he started kissing down your neck. Your eyes closed as his lips went lower, and you arched your chest against his mouth as he got closer to one of the spots you wanted his mouth the most.Â
âHave you been with other guys?âÂ
That made your eyes snap open. Those were not the words you expected to come out of his mouth when he was about two seconds away from putting his mouth around you. âW-What?â You said breathlessly.Â
But he didnât seem upset or anything, just genuinely curious. In fact he was grinning at you, his hands resting on your bare hips. âItâs been ten years. You have, right?âÂ
âIs now really the time for the, âhow many people have you slept with since me?â conversation?â You asked, raising your eyebrows at him.Â
Tyler leaned down, pressing his lower body against yours again as his lips hovered over yours. âI donât care about the number.â He said, shaking his head. âI just want you to know Iâm about to kiss the memory of anyone else from your body.âÂ
His words took your breath from your lungs, but you tried not to let him see how much they affected you. Your arms slipped around his neck, fingers sliding into his hair. âYouâre talking a lot of game for someone who hasnât initiated a single kiss.â You teased.Â
He chuckled, close enough that his lips brushed yours for the briefest moment. âIsnât it better if you have to wait for it?âÂ
A soft smile fell on your face then as you ran your fingers through his hair. âTy, you havenât kissed me in ten years. Havenât we waited long enough?âÂ
He leaned back so he could look at your face, smiling at the look you were giving him. âYeah. I think we have.âÂ
Finally, he leaned forward and kissed you, setting your whole body on fire with the intensity of it. Your lips parted almost immediately, and his tongue slipped into your mouth, exploring you thoroughly. His hands did the same, heat trailing after them everywhere he touched.Â
You knew then, as the two of you kissed and your body, and heart, felt close to combustion, that this was it for you. You had been with other men in your time apart, and none of them had ever come close to making you feel like this. Back when you and Tyler had first started dating, you thought he might have been the one, but now you were sure. So no matter what happened tomorrow, or even after that, you knew that Tyler Owens was going to be it for you.Â
To your shock and surprise, you didnât find that scary at all.Â
A breathless sigh left your lips as he slowly pulled away, and he smiled down at you, brushing some hair out of your face. âGod youâre beautiful.âÂ
You had always remembered what he was like in bed, how sweet he could be, but hearing it again was a different story. He had always made you feel so comfortable and sexy, you were so glad to know that none of that had changed. âI missed you.â You blurted out, heat rushing to your face at the confession.Â
But his smile just widened, leaning down to press a kiss against your jaw. âYouâve got no idea . . .â He started kissing down your neck again. âHow much Iâve missed you,â he said, and you couldnât help but squirm a little as he kissed down your stomach, your breath coming a little faster as his kisses got lower and lower. Your hands tangled into his hair, biting your bottom lip and arching up into his hand as he started unbuttoning your jeans.Â
You lifted your hips as he slid your jeans and underwear down the rest of your body, casting them aside somewhere in the room. You didnât really care where. Tyler kissed back up your body, pausing for a moment on your bra, the last article of clothing you were wearing. After giving him an encouraging nod, he unclasped it, tossing it somewhere too, leaving you completely naked.Â
He stared at you, and you felt heat following everywhere his gaze went. His gaze didnât make you uncomfortable though, it made you feel . . . Desirable. While his eyes looked you over, your eyes watched his face, biting your lip as your hands slid up and down his arms. âYou know youâre wearing too many clothes.âÂ
Tyler grinned down at you. âYou wanna help with that?âÂ
You sat up then, returning his smile. âI would love to.â You took your time, slowly unbuttoning his shirt and taking in every bit of skin that was revealed. Tyler had been fit when the two of you were dating, but now? He looked like heâd come straight out of a magazine. Once his shirt was unbuttoned, you let your hands trail down his chest as you leaned forward to press a kiss to his neck. You felt his whole body relax as your hands slid back up his hard muscles to push his shirt off him, and you trailed your lips across his shoulder and down his arm.Â
As soon as his shirt was off him, you made your way back up his arm, pressing gentle kisses every few inches until you reached his face again. He was smiling at you, and you couldnât help but press a peck against his lips, then another until he had his arms wrapped tightly around you, holding you against his warm chest. Letting out a sigh, you kept your forehead against his for a second, soaking the moment in.Â
âI never thought weâd be here again.â Tyler said, shaking his head as his hand dragged up and down your bare back.Â
âMe either.â You admitted, letting one of your hands comb through his soft blonde hair, âbut Iâm glad we are.âÂ
Tyler didnât say anything, but leaned forward to meet you in a kiss that said everything he needed to. It told you how much he missed you, the familiarity of his lips moving in rhythm with yours. It told you how badly he wanted you when his tongue slipped into your mouth to caress your own. Then his lips werenât the only thing showing how much he cared as he gently laid you down on the bed, never letting your lips disconnect.Â
It was illogical, but you hoped his lips never left you again. You were drowning, no, floating in him, submerged but safe in the warmth of him as his body laid on top of yours. Your legs automatically wrapped around his hips, and a moan left your lips as the two of you came into contact.Â
Tyler pulled away then, but he didnât go far, leaving kisses down your chin and neck. âYou keep making noises like that, and this is not going to last as long as I want it to.âÂ
You let out a breathless laugh, tugging at his hair. âThe noises are your fault, Owens. Youâre the one with no-â you let out a gasp as his lips found your breast, pleasure burning straight to your core. â-Self control.â You panted.Â
He gave your nipple a gentle bite, causing you to whimper, before he pulled away to look up at you. âSorry, what was that about self control?â Tyler asked with a smirk playing on his lips.Â
âThat you have none.â You said, arching your hips up to rub against him for a moment, making him groan against your skin. âBut I donât think I have any either when it comes to you.âÂ
His smirk turned into a smile, and his lips found your breast again, immediately shooting even more pleasure through your body.Â
Nobody really talks about what itâs like to have sex with someone you used to date years ago. Tyler knew your body so well, he knew exactly how you liked to be touched, and what spots would drive you crazy. It was so easy to fall back into it. On top of that though, the two of you had been with other people in the last few years, and you had more experience and confidence than the kids you used to be.
There was no hesitation in Tylerâs hands as they explored your body, and none in yours as one dragged down his back and the other tangled in his hair, holding him against you. You let out another moan as his hand moved from your inner thigh and a finger slid inside of you.Â
He let out another groan as he discovered how wet you were, and leaned up to press his forehead against yours as he added a second finger in. âAre you already ready for me, sweetheart?âÂ
You nodded, bumping your nose against his. âDo you have a condom? I wasnât anticipating-â
âHaving sex with your ex-boyfriend in a motel room?â Tyler grinned as he reached into the back pocket of the jeans you forget he was still wearing and pulled out his wallet, reaching in to take out a condom. âGuess itâs a good thing Iâm always prepared.â He said with a smirk.Â
You rolled your eyes playfully, but secretly youâd never been more thankful. If the two of you had to stop now to run out and buy condoms, you mightâve lost your mind. You slid your hands down his well defined chest, biting your lip at the muscles you felt there before stopping to rest on the belt of his jeans. âYouâre still wearing too many clothes though.â You reminded him.Â
âWerenât you supposed to be helping me with that?â He asked, raising an eyebrow at you.Â
Narrowing your eyes at him, you started undoing his belt. âItâs not my fault you distracted me with how hot you are.âÂ
He laughed, moving your hands out of the way to get his jeans off faster. âWhy do you think I got your clothes off so fast? Canât get distracted if theyâre already off.âÂ
âGuess Iâll just have to remember that for next time.â You teased, sliding your hands back up his chest to rest on his shoulders. It was only when his body froze that you realized what you said. The two of you stared at each other, and you had no clue what to say about your implication of a next time. You didnât even know if heâd want a next time . . .Â
Tyler didnât let the moment linger though. He shoved the rest of his clothes off and leaned down to kiss you, hard, and all consuming in a way that erased every thought from your head except how much you needed him. Your legs wrapped around his waist, and you let out a gasp as your hips came into contact.Â
You had forgotten how big he was.Â
Almost as if sensing your thoughts, he pulled away slowly from your lips, barely leaving a centimeter between them as his finger trailed up and down your slit for a moment. âYou can take it. Youâve done it before.â He whispered, and then slipped three fingers inside of you. The sudden intrusion sent your nails digging into his shoulders and heat exploding across your body. âIf you can take that, you can take me.â He assured you, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.Â
He was going to ruin you. Part of you thought he already had, since every other time youâd had sex, he was always on your mind, but now you were sure of it. Nobody was ever going to get you more turned on than Tyler Owens. You nodded, because it seemed like he was waiting for an acknowledgment, and attempted to pull him closer with your legs when his fingers slid out of you. âItâs just - itâs been a while.â You admitted.
Tyler gave you a gentle smile. âFor me too.âÂ
His words shocked you for a second, but then you realized they shouldnât have. Tyler had never been a one night stand kinda guy. As confident as he was, even before the two of you had started dating, heâd only ever dated girls he felt a genuine connection with. The fact that he still felt that with you enough to want to do this had emotions clogging up your throat. You let your hands trail down his body again, taking the condom from his hand and slipping it on him, your gaze never leaving his face as you enjoyed the sight of his reaction to you touching him. âThen letâs not wait anymore.â You said, guiding him towards you.Â
He didnât need any more encouragement. He pressed forward, and you let out a sigh as he slipped inside of you, your head falling back against the pillow. It was a tight fit, there was no doubt, but he moved slowly, showing, once again, how well he knew your body. Any time you tensed up, he paused, though you could feel by how tense his muscles were how much he was holding back. âThatâs right,â he would tell you when your breath started to come faster. âRemember how well you take me?âÂ
Oh God you did. He fit inside of you like no one else. Even years later he filled you up just enough to not be painful, but more than enough to be satisfying. Another gasp of air left your lips as he pushed more inside of you, and you could tell he was almost completely in.Â
âYouâre doing such a good job.â Tyler said, leaving another kiss against your skin. âMade just for me.â And while his voice was soft, it was also strained from effort.Â
You opened your eyes as you felt him push forward again, and dug your nails into where they had rested on his shoulders once more as he pushed completely inside of you, letting out a sigh of pleasure as he did.Â
There was nothing like this. Absolutely nothing. You moved your eyes from the ceiling to find him looking at you like youâd just hung each star in the sky for him alone. âTell me what youâre thinking.â He said breathlessly.Â
Did he really expect you to be able to think right now? You couldnât think enough to have a filter if you opened your mouth, and you knew that was partially what he wanted. So you let the words slip from your lips. âIâm thinking about how no ones ever felt as good as you do.â He rewarded your words with a little thrust of his hips that had you gasping. âIâm thinking about how youâve ruined me for anyone else.â Another thrust, this one harder, and you tightened your legs around him. âAnd Iâm thinking about how much I missed you, Ty.â You said softly, letting out a whimper as his hand slid up to your breast, cupping it and letting his thumb caress your nipple.Â
He didnât say anything for a moment. Just watching as your hips jerked against his, desperate for the pleasure only he could provide, his eyes locked on your face as if he was committing it to memory. âWould you believe me if I told you I was thinking about all those things too?âÂ
You didnât have to think about it. You nodded, moving your hands from his shoulders to tangle in his hair. âI know.âÂ
Tyler leaned down to meet your lips in a bruising kiss as he thrust inside of you, starting a slow and steady pace that continued to pick up speed with every passing minute until you couldnât keep up the kiss any longer. Your head fell back against the pillows, and your eyes closed in pleasure as his warm, calloused hand traveled down your body to where the two of you met. âEyes on me sweetheart.â He said, and pressed his thumb against your clit.Â
âFuck, Ty!â Your eyes snapped open and your chest arched into his, tugging on his hair at the overstimulating sensation. His hips stuttered for a moment as you felt yourself clench around him, but he kept up the movement of his thumb, tracing circles around it. The pleasure was almost too much. You could feel it building inside of you, desperate for release, and you clung tightly to him. âI canât- Iâm-â You couldnât even get the words out, too overwhelmed with feelings.Â
âItâs okay, you can let go.â He said, âIâve got you.â He assured you, never ceasing his pace or his finger.Â
His words triggered your release, almost as if youâd been waiting for permission and you moaned out his name as it washed over you. You clung to him like he was a liferaft, holding you in above water as you clenched around him. You heard him groan your name, saying how good you were, and within seconds you felt his body tense, falling over the edge with you.Â
As the pleasure faded from your body to satisfaction, you didnât want to let him go and groaned in discontent when he pulled back and out of you. He chuckled and leaned down to press a soft kiss to your forehead. âIâll be right back.âÂ
You sighed, opening your eyes as you watched him head into the bathroom, unable to believe that you had just had sex with such an attractive man, even if he was your ex. He was more than an attractive man though, or just your ex. He was Tyler. The boy you gave your heart to ten years ago who never gave it back. A tender smile was on your lips as he came back to you with a damp washcloth and started gently cleaning you up.Â
âYou okay?â He asked, the hand that wasnât cleaning you up resting on your thigh and rubbing the skin there.Â
âI will be once you get back in bed.â You replied, and your smile widened at the pleased expression on his face. You let out a laugh as he tossed the washcloth aside and hurriedly climbed into bed, spooning you against his back.Â
He nuzzled into your neck, leaving kisses against your skin as he made himself comfortable against you, and shivers exploded across your body as his hand rested on your stomach. âComfortable?â Tyler asked, pressing another kiss to your cheek.Â
Being in his arms again? Comfortable didnât even begin to describe it. As cliche and embarrassing as it sounded, for the first time since youâd come to your hometown, you actually felt like you were home. âPerfect,â you replied, scooting back even more into him.Â
And you meant it.Â
ââââââââ
You woke up cold, but oh so satisfied. Part of you wondered if last night had been a dream, but you knew that your body couldnât lie like that. You definitely had the post sex ache. You stretched your limbs out and rolled over, wanting to curl back into Tyler and maybe sleep for a few more hours, but you were met with nothing but sheets.Â
Frowning, you opened your eyes, letting your fingers drag across the fabric. It was cool, so heâd been gone for a while. It was only when your eyes drifted up to the pillow did you notice the scrap of paper.Â
Stay.Â
It was written quickly, almost as if an afterthought, and you frowned at it. Did he really think that he had to ask? You got out of bed, and found a tshirt in the floor. Slipping on your underwear and the tshirt, you sat down at the small table and grabbed your laptop. Youâd been writing like crazy lately on a new book, and youâd definitely woken up feeling inspired this morning.Â
You werenât sure how long you sat there typing. It was a great distraction from your thoughts, and when you got into the zone, it could be hours before you realized you hadnât stood up from your chair. You werenât so in the zone though that you didnât hear the doorknob start to turn.Â
Tyler entered, once again looking entirely too good in his dark brown button down, jeans and cowboy hat. He carried a familiar brown bag and cup of iced coffee in his hand and held a cautious smile as he looked at you. âBrought you some breakfast.âÂ
You held out your hands to take it from him, eagerly sipping at the iced coffee as he sat down at the seat across from you. âThank you, I needed this.â You said, leaning back against your chair. He was watching you, that cautious look still on his face making you nervous. Was he regretting last night? Was he trying to figure out the polite way to tell you it had all been a mistake?Â
âWhat are you thinking?â He asked, and the sudden question threw you off, you didnât even have the chance to think about throwing up a filter.Â
âIâm thinking that I hope youâre not regretting last night. Iâm also thinking that youâre too far away.â You admitted, frowning at the distance between the two of you.Â
His whole body seemed to relax at your words and the smile that you knew and loved fell back onto his face. He held out his hand to you, and without hesitation you took it, returning his smile as he tugged you out of your chair to sit sideways across his lap. You buried your face in his neck, letting out a contented sigh as he wrapped his arms around you, and held you close. âBetter?â Tyler asked, one of his hands tracing up and down your outer thigh.Â
You nodded, tightening your arms around him. âMuch better.â
The two of you sat in silence for a few moments. You knew the conversation that needed to be had, but you had no clue how to even begin to start it. Should you blurt out how you feel? Should you ask him how he was feeling? Tyler beat you to the punch though with a statement that stopped your mind in its tracks.Â
âI read your book.âÂ
Your body froze as your brain took a moment to process his words. Once they did, heat rushed to your face, and you pulled away to look at him. âHow did you even-â
âBoone. He gave me a copy pretty much right after you showed up.â He said, and his hand gave your thigh a squeeze. âI noticed some . . . Similarities.âÂ
You bet he did. More than enough to be embarrassing. You bit your lip, knowing the question that he wanted to ask, and decided to go ahead and give him the option to ask it anyway. âWhat do you want to know?â You finally said.Â
For a moment it wasnât the new Tyler that youâd been getting to know over the past couple of weeks that was looking at you. The confident, caring, intelligent tornado wrangler. It was young Tyler, the bull rider who wanted nothing more than to ride his fears and bring you along for it. âI guess Iâm just wondering why they got their happy ending, and we didnât.âÂ
Just because you anticipated it, doesnât mean it hurt any less. âTy . . .â You placed your hand on top of his, gripping it in yours. âI wrote that book two years after our breakup. I wasnât ready to be her then. There were . . .â You took a deep breath. âA lot of things I was still holding onto.âÂ
âBut if I had quit when you asked me to-â
You were shaking your head before he could even finish his sentence. âI never should have asked you to do that.â You let go of his hand to take his face in your hands to encourage him to keep his eyes on you. âTyler, our breakup had absolutely everything to do with me, and nothing to do with you.â This confession had been sitting on the tip of your tongue for years now, and you finally had the courage to say it. âI looked at you, riding those bulls, and all I could see was my dad. It scared me.â You admitted, caressing his cheek with your thumb. âDrunk, constantly concussed, and soon to be dead either from one or the other. I know thatâs not you now, and I shouldâve known it back then, but I was too damaged.âÂ
Tyler looked sad, his hand still caressing your skin. âI would have fought for you.âÂ
âI know.â You said, and you did. You knew that Tyler would have fought to stay by your side until the end if you hadnât pushed him away.Â
âYou were everything to me back then.â
God it hurt. Remembering the look on his face when you had walked out that door. You still had nightmares about it, but like you had struggled to learn, there was nothing you could do about it now. The two of you sat there for a moment before you finally got the courage to ask the question youâd been wanting to. âWhat about now?â You asked. âThink we can make it?â
A small, disbelieving smile formed on his face. âIs that an option?âÂ
You nodded. âAt least I hope it is. That ballâs in your court Tyler Owens. Iâm the one that broke your heart.â You said, sliding a hand down to rest over his heart. âSo . . . is that an option?â You asked, biting your lip as your heart started thumping heavily against your chest. God what if youâd just said all that and spent the best night of your life with him for Tyler to say it wasnât worth the risk? Thatâd youâd done damage beyond repair?Â
Tyler didnât give you time for your thoughts to get any more out of control. âOh, itâs definitely an option.â He said, and his bright smile had your heart fluttering. âIn fact, Iâd say itâs my preferred option.âÂ
You could barely believe it, even after last night. âYou really want to give me a second chance?â You asked in disbelief.Â
His smile turned soft, and his hand covered your own on his chest. âSweetheart, Iâd give you all the chances in the world.âÂ
And then, because you didnât know what else to say, you leaned forward and kissed him.Â
Once again, everything was the same, but somehow different. A better different.

Don't Stand So Close To Me
Five was doing his best to resist you. You were too young for him. Too eager. But when he decided to try and scare you straight, he got a little more than he bargained for. That's when he realized maybe he wasn't as strong as he thought he was.
Five x Female Reader-Insert, 6,700 words, One-shot
Warnings: Smut, explicit sex, everyone is an adult
This was born from a request I received for Five with a young(ish) woman that won't leave him alone. I have modified a few things, but I hope it still works! â€ïž
Five sighed and rolled his eyes when he saw you coming toward him. He had been balancing a bag of dry cleaning in one hand and cup of coffee in the other and was just about to chance blinking inside his apartment instead of using the door when he heard your greeting.
âDamn it,â he muttered to himself, wishing he had just risked spilling his beverage all over his newly pressed suits by disappearing inside. Now he was stuck.
âHere, let me help!â you chirped, jogging up to him.
âNo thanks, Iâve got it,â Five argued, but as he did so the bag of clothes nearly slipped from his hand.
âGot it!â you exclaimed with a smile, snatching up the bag.
Five gave a weary smile and another sigh. âThank you.â
âNo problem!â
As Five fished around in his pocket for his key, he tried not to make eye contact with you. Actually, he tried not to have anything to do with you most of the time. You just hadnât gotten the hint.
âWhat are you up to tonight?â you asked, and Five could hear the twinge of hopefulness in your voice.
âOh, you knowâŠthe same as usual. Make some dinner, watch Unsolved Mysteries, and go to bed.â He opened the door and took the dry cleaning from you. âTypical old man stuff.â
You nodded as if you knew exactly what he was talking about. You did know, in a way. You knew all about Fiveâs history, his powers, and his actual age. Itâs hard to keep that shit private when your entire life has been broadcast across the world for everyone to witness. Unfortunately, at least from Fiveâs point of view, you didnât seem to care.
You bit at your fingernail and looked down at the ground. Five wasnât about to invite you in, so he waited for an uncomfortable few seconds before speaking up again.
âOk, well, thanks for your help. Have a good night.â
âOhâŠok,â you said sadly. âGood night, Five.â
As Five stepped inside his apartment and flicked on the light, he draped his bag of suits over a chair, taking a sip of his coffee. He shoved a hand in his pocket and looked around his small, quiet apartment. It wasnât much; just a shitty one-bedroom with a miniscule kitchen. But that was all he needed. That and to be left alone.
Despite trying to keep a safe distance from you, you had yet to be deterred. Five knew you liked him; it was pretty obvious. Ever since he moved into the building, you hadnât missed an opportunity to corner him at the mailboxes, or in the hallway. Being trapped in the elevator was the most awkward, so Five tried his best to avoid those encounters by blinking around as much as possible. You always seemed to catch him, though.
It's not that Five didnât like you. You were sweet, and cute, and he would be lying if he said he wasnât flattered that you were so into him. The problem was that you were 21 and he was in his late sixties. Old enough to be your grandfather; at least mentally. Physically, he was in your same age range, which he assumed made things very confusing for you. While you did know all about his older consciousness, Five figured you conveniently forgot most of the time. Like when you wore those tiny little running shorts with a sports bra and decided to do some warm up stretches directly in front of his door.
Five wasnât fully immune to your little come-ons. He still had a pulse, after all. Not to mention the hormones and libido of a much younger man. StillâŠeven after all that he had witnessed and done throughout his life, he had managed to hold onto a couple scraps of morality. And only sleeping with women who were over the age of 30 was a personal rule of his.
He wasnât sure why he picked that age; it was still more than half of his. But he figured most peopleâs brains had fully matured by then and it made him feel like less of a sexual deviant. He hadnât had a date or any hook ups in a while, though. Most nights he just came back to his place and did exactly what he told you he did. Old man stuff.
As he stood there, contemplating all of this, there was a knock at his door. Five rolled his eyes yet again and set his coffee down. When he opened the door, there you were, as he suspected. You looked up at him with nervous eyes that couldnât quite hold his own while holding two large containers of food and a bottle of red wine.
âHi, again. What can I do for you?â
âHi, Five. So, it turns out I made too much food for dinner, so I wondered if you wanted some?â You held out the containers to him. âItâs spaghetti and a salad, and I had this bottle of wine that I thought would go well with it. Itâs nothing fancy, but I know youâre alone, so you probably donât have anyone to cook for youâŠâ Your voice trailed off and you looked away.
Five ran a hand down the back of his neck and looked down the hallway. No one else was around and he was hungry. He reached out to take the food, but left you holding the wine.
âThank you, thatâs really nice of you.â
Your eyes lit up at his compliment and you smiled. âOh, itâs no trouble at all. I cook all the time, so anytime you want me to make you something, just let me know. Iâm pretty good at it.â
Five chuckled. âI have no doubt that you are. It looks great.â He was about to go back into his apartment, when he looked back at your disappointed face. Shit. If he didnât invite this girl in, he was going to look like a real asshole. He was definitely going to regret this, though. âWould you like to come in and join me for dinner? Looks like you made plenty for both of us.â
âAre you sure? I donât want to impose.â
Five smiled gently and shook his head. âNo, youâre not. Come on in.â
After you stepped in, and Five busied himself making plates of food for the two of you, you set the wine on the kitchen table and looked around his place.
âWow, Iâm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasnât it.â
Five looked up while he opened the wine. âIsnât it just the same as your place?â
You nodded. âYeah, it is. Which is why Iâm surprised. I thought yours would be a littleâŠâ
âOld man-ish?â Five grinned as he handed you the glass of Pinot Noir.
ââŠsexier,â you answered with a sly grin, taking the glass from him.
Fiveâs eyebrows raised. âSexier?â
You shrugged and took a sip. âI donât know. I expected more black and leather. Like a real bachelor pad, you know?â
âYeah, thatâs not really me,â he said with a quiet chuckle. âIâm not exactly a swinging bachelor these days.â
You cocked your head to the side. âOh, no? How come?â
Five saw he had backed himself into a corner and he didnât really want to get into his love life with you, so he cleared his throat and gestured to the table. âFoodâs ready.â
As you sat across from one another at Fiveâs small dining table, the initial awkwardness began to wear off as the wine started taking effect. You became a little bolder in your flirting, and Five was finding he didnât mind as much as he usually did. By the time dinner was finished, and another bottle of red was opened, you had moved to the living room to continue your conversation. Five sat down on the couch as you plopped in the armchair across from him, tucking your leg up under you, making your shorts slide up your bare thigh. Five couldnât help but notice, and you caught him in the act.
As you continued your small talk, Five watched as you fidgeted in your chair. Every adjustment of your body seemed to be just for him, and he found his mouth pooling with saliva that he tried very hard to subtly swallow back down. It was wrong, but he couldnât help it. The smooth, bare skin of your legs, the curves of your breasts, the way your lips looked so damn delicious as you talked. He was in trouble.
âSo,â he said, his voice cracking. âItâs getting late.â
You nodded with an upturn of your mouth before standing up and crossing to Five. As you loomed over him, he looked up, his gaze traveling the full length of your body. The wine was giving you more confidence that you normally would have. He looked so damn good, sitting there with his hair a little disheveled from running his hand through it all night, and you werenât quite ready for the evening to end yet. You reached down, taking his wine glass to set it on the table with your own. When you climbed onto his lap, straddling his thighs, and draping your arms over his shoulders, he was shocked into silence.
Your warm groin settled over his lap with your tits pressed against his chest. Breathing harder, his hands automatically came to rest on your hips as he looked up at you. You smiled, your hair framing your face as you leaned in to kiss him.
Five closed his eyes, his grip on you tightening for a second as he kissed you in return. You moaned softly into his mouth, pressing yourself down when you felt him start to harden beneath you. Thatâs when he woke from his trance and pulled his head back.
âStop.â
âWhatâs wrong?â
âLookâŠI like you, but we canât do this.â
âWhy not?â
âWell, thereâs a lot of reasons, but namely Iâm way too old for you. And youâre drunk.â
âIâm not drunk.â
Five rolled his eyes. âOk, well, I am. And that doesnât change the fact that Iâm about three times older than you.â
âI donât care.â
âIâm sorry. I donât want to hurt your feelings, but this needs to stop before it goes any further.â
âYouâre sure thatâs what you want?â you asked, tilting your head to the side and giving just a little push into his crotch.
He shook his head slowly, exhaling a long breath. âNo, but itâs what needs to happen. Understand?â
After you reluctantly left, Five cleaned up the kitchen, jerked off in the shower, and went to bed trying very hard not to think of you anymore. Over the next two weeks, he did everything he could think of not to run into you in the building again. He was afraid that not only would it be awkward, but that he would start feeling things he shouldnât.
The truth was, you had gotten to him. Despite his best efforts, that little stunt you pulled by climbing into his lap had worked. Fuck, had it worked. Not a day went by when he wasnât imagining what would have happened had he not cut it short. Those firm tits pressed against him and your soft lips against hisâŠshit, he was going insane. He had to keep to his rule, though. You were just too young.
But you did not give up easily. You knew what you wanted and you were determined to make him see you as the adult you really were.
âFive!â you called with a little wave, as you caught him trying to enter his apartment one evening.
When Five saw you, he cursed under his breath. He really did not have the energy to deal with you. He had just gotten back from a job and he was not in the mood for your little antics.
âYou canât keep coming over here like this, Iâve told you that,â Five explained, turning his focus back to the key in the door.
âI just wanted to say hi,â you said with an innocence that he wasnât buying.
âYeah, I know what youâre doing,â he grumbled.
You paused. âIâm sorry about what happened before, Five. I understand why you might be hesitant, but you knowâŠâ
âWhat do I know?â
âI am an adult, like I said. You donât have to keep treating me like Iâm a kid.â
âYou are a kid,â Five shot back.
You looked up at him with a tiny smirk. âFrom what I remember, it didnât feel like you thought I was a kid the other night.â
Fiveâs jaw set, his teeth grinding together. He wasnât going to stand there and get made fun of by some girl that was determined to get in his pants, even if he did have the beginnings of a boner when she sat on his lap.
âJust stay away from me, ok?â he snarled. âYou donât know anything about me.â
âOh, please, FiveâŠI think I can handleââ
Five turned abruptly, his face hard with dark brows pulled together. As he leaned in, his jaw set and body tense, you flinched, but did not break your eye contact.
âYou think you can handle me, sweetheart? You have no idea what Iâm capable of,â he hissed in your face.
Swallowing, but holding your ground, you nodded. âI can handle you, Five. Iâm not scared of you. And if youâd just let me get to know you a little more â"
His laugh was laced with menace as he took another step toward you. You were left staring at one another, neither of you backing down. He was close enough that you could hear his harsh breathing through his nose and smell the faint traces of after-shave. His eyes searched over your face before turning back to his door.
âGet the fuck away from me. Please,â he said quietly.
âI know what Iâm doing, Iâm not sure why you think Iâm so innocent.â
Five looked down and sighed. He was tired of constantly trying to maintain his morality. He was an old man in a young manâs body and he was so damn sick of taking the higher road. Most people thought he was an asshole, and they werenât wrong. He had a high success rate of keeping the people he wanted out of his life out, and barely tolerating the ones he let in. He was a killer. A trauma-filled nightmare wrapped up in a pretty package. He was not normal, and it was time you knew that.
âFuck it,â he said out loud to no one in particular. As his eyes locked on yours again, his normally emerald-colored ones became dark.
He continued to take another step toward you, and then another, until you were backed against the opposite wall of the quiet hallway. Overhead, the fluorescent lights hummed as a single fly battled for its life inside one of the fixtures.
âAlrightâŠI will confess, I have been thinking a lot about you lately.â
âYou have?â
Five nodded, closing in on you until he was inches from your body; close enough that you could see the faint line of stubble on his chin and hear his deep breathing.
âSpecificallyâŠwhat you would be willing to do for me.â
As his gaze traveled over your body, taking in the tight tank top and miniscule shorts you were wearing, you could almost feel the energy pulsing out of him in waves. It was terrifying and intoxicating, and it had you rooted to the spot.
âWhat do you want me to do for you?â you asked, looking up at him through your lashes, blinking slowly.
âStrip.â
You had been trying to keep up with him. Trying to beat him at his own game. But you sucked in a quiet, yet audible, gasp of air.
âWhat?â
âI want you naked for me. Now.â
He was still so close to you, his mouth mere inches away from yours, and yet he made no further movement to do anything else. He was trapping you there; playing with his prey for fun. And you werenât sure if he was going to eat you or let you escape.
âHere?â you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
He nodded, his eyes never leaving your face. âThatâs right, sweetheart. You think you know me? You think you want me? Then, prove it.â
âWhat if someone walks by?â
Five shrugged with a grin. He took a step back, allowing you enough room to leave, should you so choose. Again, he made no move to grab you, or touch you in any way. He shook his head, eyeing you pitifully.
âDonât play games you canât win. It wonât end well for you.â
When you had nothing to say to that, his demeanor changed again. Back to his normal, tired expression, his eyes and mouth drooped. He said nothing more, but just turned back toward his apartment, and opened the door. After he took a step inside, he heard you clear your throat. Turning around, he was faced with an unexpected sight.
With each slow, deliberate step you took in his direction, you started to strip your clothes away. First your top, lowering the straps over your shoulders and drawing it up over your head. Then your shorts, unbuttoning them before sliding them down your thighs and kicking them to the side. Five seemed frozen to the spot, unable to move and unable to speak. But his eyes followed you with an unmistakable hunger.
As you closed in on him, you were left in your bra and panties. With a small smirk, you reached behind you and undid the clasp of your bra. Slowly peeling it away from your body, you watched as Fiveâs gaze dropped to your breasts.
âLike I saidâŠIâm not afraid of you,â you said, as you confidently jutted your chin out, along with your chest.
Fiveâs face flickered with shock, followed by what you could only imagine was lust, before it turned to anger. He grabbed your upper arm, squeezing it hard, before shaking you.
His teeth gritted and bared, he snarled in your face. âWhat the fuck do you think youâre doing?â
You did your best to pretend you were in full control of the situation. âWhat you told me to do.â
Fiveâs eyes roamed over your body for a split second, before they were back on your face. He was angrier than you had ever seen him before. And yet, you had a feeling the anger was just masking something else. Something he didnât want you to see.
At that moment, the loud ding of the elevator doors rang out, signaling that you would soon not be alone. He looked down the hallway and then back at you. When you didnât make a move, his jaw tensed even more. Stalking past you to snatch your clothes off the floor, he grabbed your arm again.
âGod damn it, get inside,â he demanded, yanking you forcefully through the doorway of his apartment.
As you stumbled your way inside, he continued to grasp your upper arm. He slammed the door behind you and got in your face again.
âAre you stupid?â he growled.
You shook your head. âNo.â
âWell, stop fucking acting like it. Jesus!â He let go of your arm, leaving you standing there in just your underwear, while he ran a hand through his hair. âYou canât just go around stripping naked in public places just because someone tells you to. What the fuck?â
You smiled and took a step toward him. âWhatâs the matter Five? Losing at your own game?â
Fiveâs breath had become louder and harsher. You could practically see the wheels turning inside his head. He wanted you; you were sure of it. The juxtaposition of desire and restraint was evident in every twitch of coiled muscle and nervous hover of his eyes on your breasts. He had been trying to scare you; make you flee in terror at his aggressive advances. But joke was on him, because you fucking loved it.
Another look of anger swept over his face as he laughed darkly. âShit. You really do not know what you are getting yourself into here.â
You swallowed nervously. âI donât care.â
âWell, you should. And you should leave.â
Five continued to bore into you with his intense stare. His dark eyes indicated menace, but his stiff body language gave off something else. Fear. But Five Hargreeves does not give into fear easily. When he feels it creeping in, he turns it into something else. Something mean and ruthless.
When you didnât make a move to leave, he took a step forward. A half-smirk formed on his lips as he crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head to the side.
âAlright thenâŠyouâve been warned,â he said pleasantly, right before his voice turned ice cold. âNow lose those fucking panties before I rip them off myself.â
Slowly, and without breaking eye contact, you hooked your thumbs into the elastic waist of your lace panties and pulled them down over your hips, letting them drop to the floor at your feet. You stood perfectly still, allowing him to take you all in while your chest began to rise and fall more rapidly.
You thought you had him this time. How was he going to resist a fully nude woman right in front of his face? But instead of giving in, like you knew he wanted, he gave a small shake of his head. Still holding the clothes you had discarded in the hallway, he stepped forward until he was directly in front of you, smiling derisively. His face was so close to your bare skin, you could feel the warmth of his exhale along your leg as he bent to pick up the pair of underwear. When he walked casually past you in the direction of the living room, your jaw dropped as he opened the sliding glass doors that led to a small balcony, and hurled your clothes outside. You watched in disbelief as they floated briefly on the light breeze before disappearing out of sight; fluttering to the ground, six floors below.
He closed the doors, turning back to you with a satisfied, yet stony expression. He pointed at the door to the hall.
âGet out.â
You paused, your eyes nervously darting toward the door. âWhat?â
He flicked a piece of hair out of his eyes in indifference. âYou said you didnât care if anyone saw you. So, leave.â
When you continued to stand there, wide-eyed and confused, he snorted and shook his head. âThatâs what I thought. Iâm not the nice guy you think I am. And Iâm certainly not one of your little fucking boyfriends you can manipulate to get your way.â His voice softened somewhat. âI can give you something to wear to go home in, but donât ever come back here again. This is over, understand?â
After a few seconds of silence, you nodded your head slowly. âI understand.â With a sly smile, you turned, heading for the door, letting Five get a nice long look at your ass in the process. As you reached for the doorknob, you glanced over your shoulder, relishing in his bewilderment as you walked right out the door without a stitch of clothing on.
Out in the hallway, you tried not to panic. You hadnât really thought out what was going to happen once you had committed to your little act of rebellion. Your apartment was on the other side of the floor, and you had to pass by many nosy neighborsâ places plus the elevators to get there. As you considered your options, your back was suddenly slammed into the wall, Fiveâs hands gripping your arms again after he appeared in a flash of blue.
âGod damn it,â he seethed in your face.
Without another word, you were being ripped through one of his portals, reappearing inside his apartment again. You let out a small cry of surprise as you were flattened against the door, Fiveâs body pressed against yours.
He surveyed your face one more time, his eyebrows drawn together in torment. âFuck, why did you do this to me?â
The next few minutes were a blur as Five released everything that he had been holding back in one ferocious attack. His mouth sucking and biting at your lips, his hands fisted tightly in your hair, and his hips jerking into you. Something feral and instinctual was propelling him, and you let him unleash all of it onto you.
With another tight hold on your wrist, you were dragged away from the door and whipped through a second portal, this time landing on his bed with a hard bounce. While you scrambled to sit up, Five had stripped off his shirt and was already unbuckling his belt, the clink of the metal drawing your attention to his hands as they unzipped his fly. Breathing hard through his nose, he looked at you, running a hand through his hair while pushing it off of his forehead.
With his cool green eyes locked on yours, he crooked a finger at you, beckoning you over. You worked your way off the bed, hesitating for just a moment, before closing the few feet so that you were standing directly in front of him.
He leaned down, a hand gently cradling the back of your neck, as he kissed you softly. You thought maybe you were going to see a new, tender side of him. Until he latched a hand onto your shoulder, gripping you hard while pushing you roughly down, forcing you to your knees. As he glared down at you, dark hair framing the sharp angles of his face, one corner of his mouth twitched up.
âYou talk a big game, honey, so go ahead. Letâs see that mouth of yours in action.â
He was trying to intimidate you; to show you he was the boss. But you werenât naĂŻve and you werenât dumb. There were subtle hints, like the way his breath hitched when he spoke to you, or the slight tremble in his hand as he guided your face up by your chin that gave his nerves away.
With your own small smile and a lick of your lips, you reached up to pull the black suit pants down, taking his boxers with them. Five let out a shaky exhale as his hard cock stood at attention in front of your face. With another coy glance up through soft lashes, you took him into your hand. He was bigger than you would have guessed, and you slowly stroked his thick shaft, pressing your thumb into the underside while following the vein from base to head. When you stretched out your tongue to give a kittenish lick across the tip, he hissed loudly, bringing his hand down to rest in your hair.
âShit,â you heard him mutter under his breath as you started in.
He didnât let you work up to it with teasing kisses or circles of your tongue around his dripping head. With one shove of his hand on the back of your head, his dick was down your throat. You let out a clipped groan that ended in a gurgling noise, before he was pulling you back and off again. With eyes wide and already gasping for air, your hair was tugged backward so that you were forced to look up at him.
An eyebrow raised, Five questioned you with a low voice. âStill think you can handle me?â
From your position on the floor, he towered above you like a god, watching as you worshiped at his feet. Your eyes traveled over his sculpted abs, his toned arms and shoulders that flexed with the effort of holding your head back. You took in the scars that dotted his abdomen and thighs; the line of soft hair that trailed from his navel to the main event. He was being rough, yes, but there was something in his eyes that gave him away. Like he wanted so badly to be something else, he just didnât know how.
You nodded your head in an answer to his question, as his magnificent cock bobbed in front of your face, and you opened your mouth wide.
âFuck,â he growled from deep in his chest.
Five was losing his mind, he was sure of it. All of his pent-up anger and frustration over his body/mind/age situation was coming to a head; and he was shoving that head directly and violently down your throat. He couldnât stop it. He didnât want to stop it. You felt so damn good, with your warm mouth wrapped around him and your tongue sliding over the taught skin of his shaft. As his hips jerked into your face, harder and faster, he watched as you gagged and choked on his dick; saliva building up at the corners of your mouth as you so dutifully let him fuck your face.
âAhâŠffff-uu-goddamnitâŠyes, fuck yes, donât stopâŠah SHIT!â
His head was thrown back in complete bliss as he unloaded copious amounts of cum directly into the back of your throat, the sheer volume making it pour out the corners of your mouth and dribble down your chin. The rest you swallowed, choking down the steady stream of bitter semen while he moaned above you and fisted your hair even tighter.
As he finally began to relax and the last few twitches of his hips came to a halt, he dared to open his eyes and look down at the sight below him. He had loosened his grip on your hair, allowing his dick to slip out of your mouth. You gasped and sucked in the much-needed air that you hadnât been getting as he released you entirely. Collapsing onto your hands and knees, you coughed and wiped at your destroyed mouth while Five did nothing more than stare down at you with a kind of horrified fascination.
What had he done?
When you looked back up at him, though, and he saw that devilish smile sneak across your lips, daring him to give you more, he stopped caring. It was clear you were going to let him do whatever he wanted. And, fuck, if he didnât want to do so many things to you.
âUp,â he commanded, still trying to catch his breath.
He held out his hand for you to take, letting him haul you up to standing. He ran a hand down your cheek and kissed your ruined lips. There was that moment of softness again, and you closed your eyes against his touch.
Five guided you so that you were sitting on the edge of the bed. After another kiss, this time leaving you breathless, he dropped to his knees between your legs. Gripping your thighs in his hands, he roughly pushed your legs apart while pulling you closer to him.
Digging his fingers into your hips, he buried his face into your wet, throbbing pussy, and moaned.
âThis wet just from sucking my cock? Fuck, honey, youâre driving me crazy.â
Alternating between long laps with his tongue and sucking at your clit, it was obvious he knew exactly what he was doing as you leaned backward, holding yourself up with your hands flat on the bed. When you dropped your head back, it banged against the wall, but you barely noticed since you were already on the cusp of a strong orgasm.
âFiveâŠâ you gasped, eyes clenched shut and biting at your bottom lip. You tried desperately to rock your hips into his face, but his grip was too strong. He was devouring you; eating you out almost viciously, while your palms began to sweat as they pressed harder into the bed. âFiveâŠholy fff-uckâŠOH GOD!â you screamed as one last, perfect lick sent you reeling. With your entire body shuddering, Five only went at you harder; until you were letting out quiet, pitiful cries, and your thighs twitched against his head.
As you tried to catch your breath, Five finally let up, tearing himself away from your warm deliciousness, and standing up to lean over you. He was just as out of breath as you were, with his mouth shining and lips red. A mixture of your arousal and his saliva pooled obscenely underneath you.
âThat wasâŠholy shitâŠâ you tried to get out, but you were cut off almost immediately.
âIâm not done yet. Not by a long shot,â he rasped.
Though only minutes had passed since he had unloaded into your mouth, his cock was hard again. As he rummaged around in a drawer, pulling out a condom, and rolling it on, you scooted back so that you were lying down lengthwise on the bed. There was no more time for rest, though, before Five was climbing on top of you, that look of voracity overtaking him again.
He began to kiss you; hard and insistently while running his tongue over your bottom lip and venturing inside. It was a mixture of intense want and hesitation as he squeezed your ass with one hand and lightly stroked your hair with the other. When he pulled back, he looked deep into your eyes, his hand coming to rest gently on your cheek, his thumb pressing under your chin.
âWhat do you think, sweetheart? Ready for more?â
With a slow smile forming on your face, you nodded.
âFuck yeah. Give it to me.â
Five groaned, closing his eyes and dropping his face to your neck. His teeth scraped against your skin as he kissed you fervently while your fingers threaded through his hair. The second you opened your legs for him, he was shoving himself inside. Sucking in a loud breath, he buried his face into your shoulder.
âFuuuckâŠyou are tightâŠgod, you feel so fucking good,â he moaned pitifully into you.
You threw your head back against the pillow with a loud moan. âOh my god, I knew your dick would feel amazing.â
He didnât respond, but he took both of your legs and balanced them on his shoulders, angling your hips up to push his dick in even further. He was buried to the hilt, with his tight balls slapping against your ass each time he drew back and slammed back into you.
Five was gone; completely lost inside his own debauched fantasy. He wanted to fuck you harder and harder until you couldnât take it anymore. He wanted to make you cry out his name while your back arched off the bed like you were possessed. When his eyes met yours, with the strands of hair stuck to his forehead from the sweat already forming there, you bit your bottom lip and smiled. You knew exactly what you were doing to him, and that made him want to absolutely ruin you.
Smacking your ass hard enough to leave a mark before throwing your legs off his shoulders, Five roughly flipped you over. He forced the side of your face into the bed as he thrust inside you again, stretching your pussy and filling you up with his thick cock. His ragged breath warmed the side of your neck with each punishing drive of his hips against your ass as you whimpered softly.
âCome on, honey, letâs hear it,â he snarled next to your ear. âYouâve been dying for me to pound that sweet little pussyâŠso let me hear you. Iâm not stopping until I get what I want.â
âFff-iiive,â you sobbed, your fists clutching the bedspread underneath you as he railed relentlessly into you.
âThatâs right,â he answered, and you could hear that cocky smirk on his face. âBeg me.â
âFiveâŠpleaseâŠyou feel SOâŠFUCKINGâŠGOOD!â
The angle of his cock thrusting inside of you, along with his body trapping you beneath him, was more intense than anything you had ever experienced before. You were on the verge of coming; your cries becoming louder while you desperately tried to suck air into your lungs. The sting of his dick drilling inside of you was still not enough to mask the pleasure that was building. It hurt but you still wanted more.
Soon, that inevitable feeling of warmth and tightness formed in your core and you let go with a loud scream that echoed off the walls of his bedroom. Your body convulsed under his as his hips stilled against your ass when he expelled himself one more time. The groan that left him as he came was loud and long, leaving his arms shaking as he held himself over you.
After he was able to move off of you, you continued to catch your breath as you rolled over to face him. Five was kneeling on the bed, chest glistening with sweat and heaving as he flipped his hair out of his eyes. He didnât say a word, but after a few more seconds, he climbed off the bed to dispose of the condom. You eyed him nervously. You had no idea how he was going to react, or if he was already regretting everything.
After tugging his boxers back on, he sat down on the edge of the bed. âAre you ok?â he asked, his voice tight.
You nodded and sat up. âYeah, Iâm ok, why?â
Five shook his head. âI was way too rough, I shouldnât haveâŠbut youâŠâ he trailed off, his frustration with himself evident. âLook, you got your way. This is done now, alright?â
With a roll of your eyes, you moved off the bed so that you were standing in front of him; the muscles in your sticky thighs aching from the movement. âGet over yourself, Five. We both wanted this, so stop pretending I put some spell on you to make you change your mind.â
He was silent, but he nodded, a brief flicker of a smile forming on his lips. âIâm sorry about your clothes.â He got up to grab a t-shirt from one of his drawers and handed it to you. âYou can wear this; it should be enough to cover everything.â
As you worked the too-big shirt over your head, Five pulled his pants back on, zipping them up but leaving the belt hanging open. Reaching into his back pocket, he pulled out a small, balled up pair of womenâs underwear. With a guilty smile, he tossed them over to you. âHere.â
You laughed in disbelief. âYou stole my panties? What were you going to do with them?â
Five shrugged. âI hadnât figured that out yet.â
Shaking your head, you looked down at them in your hand. âSuch a dirty old man.â Glancing back at Fiveâs guilty face, you threw them back, and he caught them against his chest. âKeep them. I kind of like the idea of you doing weird things with them.â
Five made no comment, but he tucked them back into his pants pocket with a lop-sided grin. He held out his hand. âCome on, Iâll blink you back to your apartment so you donât have to go back in just a t-shirt.â
You thought for a second, but shook your head. âNo thanks. I donât mind a good walk of shame now and then.â
As Five walked you to the door, you gave him a lingering kiss and trailed a hand down his arm. âMaybe the next time I make too much food, Iâll come over and share it? Think you can handle that?â
A smile slowly spread across Fiveâs face and he nodded. âYeah, I think I can handle that.â
Then he watched as you walked away, wearing nothing but his t-shirt. He shook his head, not quite believing what had just occurred. He had thought he was so damn smart with his moral high-ground and superiority. But as it turned out, you had gotten the best of him. He lost at his own game. Tucking two fingers inside his pocket to stroke the silky material of your panties, he smiled to himself, thinking about how this may have been the first time in his life that he hadnât minded losing.

So a while ago some friends were talking about fans who claim the Same Coin theory is canon. And I made the mistake of saying:
Do you know who also has tons in common with Bill? Mabel. Yet nobody claims Bill reincarnated as Mabel. âŠwait now I want a "same coin but it's Mabel" AU. Funniest Bill reincarnation option. The all-seeing arsonist is making macaroni glitter art. The omnipotent tyrant is crying because a unicorn called her a bad person.
And then I overthought it for two months.
SoâAU where after death, Bill's soul shoots 13 years into the past and reincarnates as Mabel. I'll call it âš Sparkly Coin AU âš
Don't leave yet. Lemme show you why it works. Behold the eerie amount of parallels in their personalities, dialogue, behavior, mannerisms, tastes...
I could have kept going but my attention span ran out. All right, we all on board now? Convinced we could segue from one personality into the other? Great. Now here's why you should be interested: the juicy post-Weirdmageddon angst potential.
As long as a small fringe of the fandom still thinks Weirdmageddon is Mabel's fault, why not amp that up x100 and have some fun with it?
Is everyone sold now? Great. Let's get into the details. I've got 8 more pieces of art under the read more.
So the AU starts the instant Bill dies. Thanks to invoking his deal with the Axolotlâone way to absolve his crime, a different form, a different timeâthe Axolotl gives him a new shape and shoots him thirteen years into the past. Apparently, the Axolotl thought it would be very funny to stick Bill in the family that defeated him.
Which probably made for a jarring transition.
(It's fine, she's like 10 minutes old, she probably can't even tell who she's looking at. Not being able to tell who she was looking at is what got her into this situation ayyyy)
When Dipper & Mabel come back from Gravity Falls complaining about this triangular jerk Bill, their parents mention that Dipper's name was nearly Bill. See, after they knew they were going to have a boy, one night their mom dreamed about a visitorâsome kind of magic pink salamander??âcalling her child "BILL." Then at the next sonogram they found out they were having twins, the girl must've been hidden at a weird angle the first time, and they wanted matching names, so they thought, Bill and Bell. But they didn't really like Bell; but eventually they stumbled on Mabel, so to keep the names matching they switched from Bill to Mason. Isn't that the darnedest thing?
(Of course, Mabel and Dipper assume Bill harassed their parents to try to trick them into naming a kid after him. To be a jerk.)
When Bill meets Mabel, he's unaware that she's his future selfâBill's notably bad at doing things like, say, double-checking to see whether he's going to die anytime soonâbut like... he can tell something's up.
Naturally, before visiting Gravity Falls, there were echoes of who Mabel used to beâbut nothing anyone would be able to identify without context. All her Bill-ish quirks either smoothed out with time (see: how between second grade and fourth grade Mabel went from being the "freak" to the popular girl in class), or else they were accepted by her family as Mabel-ish quirks.
After they meet (and kill) Bill, they have the context to understand some of Mabel's behaviors... and unfortunately, some of Mabel's latent Bill-ness starts surfacing after she's been directly exposed to her prior incarnation.
The part of the Pines family familiar with Bill thinks the worst case scenario is that maybe Bill's survived and is slowly possessing Mabel; but far more likely, they think this is just some weird way of trying to subconsciously process last summer. Mabel doesn't think she's being weird, you guys are being weird, stop giving her weird looks. They get attacked by one triangle and now she can't wear yellow or pick up macrame as a hobby??
(It's not all red flags and uncomfortable triangle imagery, though. When Stan asks her what she'd like as a gift for some important event, she shyly admits that she thinks she's starting to outgrow her plastic gem jewelry and maybe she's old enough to get her first piece of real gold jewelry, if that's not too expensive? And Stan's never been so proud of her. Thirteen years old and already thinking about buying gold!)
But of course, the real fun starts when Mabel finds out.
That's the face of a girl who's just discovered that she tortured her great uncle. Now imagine running into the brother she possessed.
But I've already spent a million words and thirteen images on this post. If enough folks are interested in the AU maybe I'll expand on it later. Let me know what y'all think.

"Thank You For Your Service" - Toji Fushiguro, Ryomen Sukuna
4,341 words.
warnings. nsfw, firemen! toji/sukuna, food-play, oral sex, p in v, mildly dubious con, double penetration, unprotected sex, throat fucking, rough play/sex, praising kink, creampie, degradation/dumbification (slut, whore)
notes. as an owner of your own independent bakery, you deliver your local firemen some sweet treats as a 'thanks' for their service. although a few of the men at the station decide to have a little fun with you. aka toji and sukuna fuck you silly and stuff you with their cum like a profiterole. also this has been in my draft for ages and I wanted to post it before I get back to classes đđ
banner cred. @/yunonoai on twt/ig
After successfully balancing the cash register, you glance over to the clock on the wall that reads sharply, '4:30' in the afternoon.
The rest of the staff, aka the young students you've hired to work in your bakery were long gone, as you had let them off quite early today.
You walked over to the display fridges to see what's remained of the cakes from today. As expected, there were a good few things left such as profiteroles and small dessert cakes.
"Mmm, maybe I should give these to the firemen down at the station."
You smiled as you came up with the sustainable idea to gift the local fire station a box of sweet treats as a thank you for their service. I mean, who wouldn't want free cakes?
You hummed as you tied the pink ribbon over the box. Hopefully you put enough in there, you knew that those working at the fire station were hardworking people, so they needed a lot to refuel.
Glancing to the clock again, only fifteen minutes have passed. You decided it was time to make your way to the fire station. You made sure everything was left prepared for the opening staff tomorrow. Grabbing your coat from the staff room, you took the rest of your belongings, and the nicely wrapped box, making your way to the fire station.
The walk wasn't long, as the station was only located down the avenue. They put the station in a place to make sure it was accessible for everyone. It was convenient for you at this moment too.
Coming to the front of the fire station, you were met with the garage shutters open. You weren't sure if you should just walk in through there, or go around to the visitors entrance. The lights were on though, and you could hear a faint chatter coming from the inside.
Deciding to take a peek, you could see two men sitting in chairs and talking, which you assumed were the firemen on duty today.
You couldnât really make out their faces, but you could tell one had coral hair, the other, a dark black. At the same time, you mentally slapped yourself for freezing in one spot, wondering why you were unable to move.
Your eyes scanned their bodies, the muscular physique they owned had only been complimented by the fitted navy shirt they were wearing. You could tell both had put in the work at the gym. For once, you wished you were in a burning building right now.
Suddenly, the coral haired man looked in your direction, and by now you could make out some strange tattoos on his face. You gasp, startled at the fact he had caught you staring for awhile like some idiot. Curious, the raven haired man turns his head as well, and speaks.
"Well.. what do we have here?" he continued, "You lost, doll?" his voice so deep, it only went straight through your ears, down to your pussy.
By now, you had the attention of the two men, and it sort of felt belittling in a way. Part of you wanted to turn around and leave, as if nothing happened. Or maybe you could act like you walked into the wrong place.
Gulping, you clutched onto the corners of the box out of nervousness. "No.. I work at the local bakery down the block. I came here to uhm...â Your voice trails off, you had forgotten what to say.
The coral haired one butts into the conversation.
"Oh Toji, you've made her all nervous. She's so soft spoken now." He motions his hand for you to come closer, the so called 'Toji' rolling his eyes at what the other had said.
Hesitant, you stepped through the garage entrance, now hearing it close behind you as you walked closer to the two men. I guess thereâs no turning back now..
You still didn't know what the coral haired one was called.
As you finally stood in front of them, they respectfully did the same, standing from the chairs they were just on.
Your stomach churned as you noticed the difference between your heights, the men now towering over you had only made the nauseous feeling worse. It had caused you to look up at them, like some lost puppy. Am I really this sex deprived?
You could have sworn that you felt something purr down there as the so-called Toji crosses his arms, his massive biceps on show. His navy fitted shirt practically sculpted over his muscles.
Begging to get out of this place that made it more difficult to withstand each minute, you spoke first.
âI work at the bakery down the street,â you continued after a breath, â..and I just wanted to give you these goodies as a thank you for your service to this city.â
Wanting to compensate for discomforting you earlier, Toji speaks. âAinât that sweet? Sâkuna, take the box and put it behind me on the table.â
Sukuna, gently takes the box from your grasp. You felt your face warm up as his more bigger, calloused hands made contact with yours. He smiled at you, possibly for a silent thanks. You couldn't help but do the same.
Tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, you blushed. Flattered that these men were praising you. âOh, itâs nothing really..â you slowly took a step back. âAnyways, I better get going.â
Toji had only kept his eyes on you, as if he were to devour you at any moment. Leaning against the table behind him, Toji didn't dare to look at anything else in the garage. Sukuna was busy on the other hand, toying with the pink ribbon on the box.
â..Leavinâ already? Isn't that a shame, I thought that you yourself came with these desserts.â Toji snickered, looking at Sukuna behind his shoulder for a response.
Your lashes fluttered, in utter shock you were speechless.
Sukuna, could only laugh at Tojiâs cheeky joke that was laced with filth. His own eyes watched you as he sucked the cakeâs cream off his fingertips.
Awkwardly laughing, you brush off what just happened. â..I really.. need to get going. I have a bus to catch.â You lied, thinking that it would be able to get you out of here.
âCâmon, itâs not everyday we get the opportunity to share these cakes with a pretty girl. Right, âkuna?â
âYeah, todayâs our lucky day.â Sukuna hums, his sentence ending with a smirk.
Biting your lip, you thought about it for a moment. I mean, there wouldnât be anything else for you to do as soon as you come home.
You knew you were going to regret this, but part of you wanted to stay. I mean, what could go wrong? âMmm, okay fine, I guess I have a few minutes to spare..â
Toji grins, the scar on his mouth moving with his lips as you walk back closer to the two. "I promise, we'll make the most of it."
He stands back from the table, casually grabbing you by the waist and swiftly setting you atop the table as if you were a doll. You could only hiccup, taken aback by his sudden gesture. You immediately tug down on your skirt due to it rising up just now.
Flustered and warm, you made the sensible decision to take off your coat. Toji only takes it from your possession, setting the coat down on a chair nearby.
Your legs dangled off the edge of the table, slowly swinging back and forth, taking a few breaths to calm your nerves as you watch the menâs next move.
Toji stood in front, facing you, almost between your legs as he reached over to the box of desserts on your right side, grabbing one of the few cream cakes.
Sukuna on the other hand, makes small talk with you. âYou make these yourself, beautiful?â
âOh no, not just by myself. I have a few other staff at my bakery who of course help out.â
He nods slowly in approval, wiping the rest of the ganache off his hands using the pants of his cargo overalls.
You bit your lip, asking a sudden question out of curiosity . âCan I ask, whereâs the rest of your crew?.. Is it just you two?â
Toji, busy taking a bite of the cake rolls his eyes. âThat doesnât matter right now,â the question stays unanswered as he changed topics, âGod, the cream in this- whatever the fuck this is- tastes great. What you call these again?â
"It's called a profiterole," You watched as Toji took a huge bite, licking the cream off the corners of his mouth.
He uses his finger to swipe a small dollop of the cakeâs cream onto his fingertips, bringing it closer to your mouth.
âHere, try it for yourself, Itâs the best thing Iâve had.â
Does he expect me to suck it off his finger just like that..?
You knew better, this man was a stranger. Should you really be going around casually sucking on men's fingers? âOh, I donât know if I should-â
âDonât leave me hanginâ doll! creams gonna slide off my finger..â
You shyly gabbed onto his hand, sucking the cream off his fingertip. Toji would be lying if he said that a tent didnât just form in his cargos. He could feel his cock straining against his pants, begging to come out.
"'Atta girl.." Toji purred as he felt your hot mouth wrap around his finger.
He could only imagine what it would be like if you were to suck your own juices off his fingers after they had just been inside you.
This whole time, Sukuna was quietly watching everything unfold. He could feel a tinge of jealousy wash through him, angered at the fact that Toji was all handsy with you, and poor Sukuna couldnât get a turn.
His index finger left your lips with a pop, his eyes never leaving yours. You heard Sukuna shuffle around with the box, his footsteps coming close to both where you and Toji were.
He gently pushed Toji aside, and unfortunately the raven haired sex fanatic took offense to that, Toji stabbing daggers into the back of Sukuna's head as he replaced his spot.
You shivered as Sukuna slithered his one hand onto your bare leg, the other hand holding another one of the cakes.
"How 'bout you share this one with me? Say ahh.." He brings the cake closer to your face, your face heating up from his hand slowly caressing the velvety skin on your thigh.
You grabbed onto his hand to stop it, "I'm really full, thank you th-"
Sukuna's hand suddenly moved down to your chest, smearing cake all over your blouse. The rest of the cake falling onto your skirt.
You jittered as you felt the cold cream manage to dribble down your sternum behind the fabric, a high pitch gasp escaping your lips out of discomfort.
"Oh my.." he continued with a devilish grin, "My hand slipped."
You gasped, your blouse now all ruined with red velvet cake and buttercream. "It's.. okay.. I'm heading home anyways."
"No, no-â Toji behind him stepped in, "We gotta do something about that."
You tried to reassure them; using your hands as support to try hop off the table, "Guys, I promise it's nothing seriou-" but unfortunately Sukuna grabs the side of your thighs, setting you back on the table.
"Yeah no," thinking, Sukuna crosses his arms. "We gotta take that top off. In fact, take everything off."
Toji smirked, and let out a laugh. "I agree,"
Sukuna's large hands reached for the buttons of your blouse, pulling the top apart, the remaining fragments thrown to the other side of the garage.
The tiny buttons fly everywhere as you wince at the sight that unfolded before your eyes. You were able to see the evident change in the two men's demeanor as their eyes landed on the black lacy bra that was now on show.
"Ah-" Sukuna cooed, "She got some between her tits. Get this girl some tissue."
Toji walked around the garage in search of a tissue roll, and you watched him like a hawk, using your arms to cover your chest. "Can't seem to find any 'round here.."
Unable to form a sentence, you gape your mouth open at Toji, then to Sukuna.
"Well that's too bad.." he reaches for your arms, pulling them apart to expose your cake-stained chest back to him. âI wouldnât mind licking it off.â
âWait- I donât think thatâs-â youâd be lying if you said you didnât want this badly right now.
âShhâŠâ His hands snake down your chest to your abdomen, gently pushing you to lie against the table.
Your nipples go hard due to the contact of your back with the tableâs cold surface, luckily they werenât able to see that.
You felt as Sukunaâs wet tongue touches your stomach, slowly gliding up towards your cleavage that was stained with cream. You gasp, a breathy moan escaping your lips. That was enough to tell them both that you wanted this as much as they did.
You immediately grab onto his hair, and you could feel the smirk form against your skin.
You heard Tojiâs footsteps come closer to your side of the table, he was suspiciously quiet for the time being.
Sukuna would only look up at you as he licked off the creamy residue all over your chest. The warmth from his tongue was ticklish, but this scene arousing enough to have a pool form between your legs.
âThink we gotta take this tiny skirt off too..â you felt him roughly grab on your skirt to slide it off, but not strong enough to rip it apart.
You could only clamp your thighs together, as the rest of your garments were stripped of you, the outcome being you all flustered that you were so exposed in-front of the two men.
Sukuna uses his hand to force your legs open, his head moving between your legs.
Until you felt another pair of hands clutch onto your panties and- rip!
You shudder as your bare pussy was met with the cold air of the garage, hoping to feel Sukunaâs warm, wet mouth but you were mistaken.
It was more cake.
Toji had smeared a Victoria-sponge dangerously below your lower abdomen.
Toji could only palm himself through his pants as he watches Sukuna devour the cake that was making its way towards your clit.
His tongue made its way to your dripping hole, slowly fucking into you back and forth.
âT-that feels.. so good..â you breathe out, Sukunaâs cock straining against the fabric of his pants as he heard this.
Unable to watch anymore, Toji stops palming himself through his pants. He makes his way to the box of desserts, disassembling a jam donut, scooping the strawberry glaze into his hands.
Horny, and jealousy filling his body like mad, he walks behind the table where your head was almost hanging off.
He eagerly unzips his cargos with an unoccupied hand, grabbing for his cock that has been nothing but a nuisance to him these past few minutes.
Too busy moaning in pleasure, you looked up to Toji, your vision of him upside down as you were laid against the table.
You could only watch as Tojiâs heavy, thick cock slaps against your forehead, his jam covered hand wrapping around the base and making a mess of it on his length.
You felt his hand smear the strawberry residue all over your chest again, which was most likely for Sukuna to be able to lick.
âBetter open wide you slut, or else it wonât fit.â You felt Tojiâs hand grab onto your jaw, forcing mouth to open wider.
You moan as his cock fills your mouth so full, the sweet jam from the donut coating your taste buds. Toji wraps his hands around your neck, his two thumbs caressing your throat as he fucked his cock into it.
He groans, âFuck, just like that..â throbbing as he felt the outline of his cock form against the skin of your throat. Squelching noises could only be heard as he staggeringly rut his hips back and forth.
You could hear Toji grunting above you from the sensation of the vibrations going to straight to his cock as you moaned. You felt Sukuna on the other end lapping at your clit, fucking you with two fingers of his fingers at the same time.
Taking a minute to close your eyes, you indulged in the pleasure you were receiving at both ends. At the same time, you were unable to tell who ripped your bra off you.
Toji pulls his cock away from your throat, leaving you to gasp for air. You shut your eyes tightly, disappointed at the empty feeling you were left with. Warm spit trickled down your face, Toji caressing your cheek but only to slap in after.
Toji doesnât forget to plant a wet kiss on your lips before pulling away. You whimper as he leaves your side, but only this time he starts walking over to Sukunaâs end.
Sukuna pulled away from your dripping holes too, you wince and moan, praying that this isnât the final moment that theyâd have hands on you. You were too scared that the fun was cut short.
Using your elbows to prop yourself up, you watch the two men, speechless. You try to use this opportunity to catch your breath, but your head only falls back down onto the table. You stay sprawled out on the table, looking up at the bright lights of the garage.
âFeel like itâs time to stuff some cock in that pussy, donât cha think?â Toji speaks, voice raspy from groaning.
âI think so too. But Iâm fucking her first,â Sukuna replies.
A disagreeing Toji snaps back. âNah, I want to.â
âArenât you forgetting we can both fuck her at the same time?â Sukuna suggests, your eyes widening at the thought of two men stuffing you full of cock at the same time.
You could almost predict that they could break you into two, and you have no idea how big any of them are yet. You use your elbows to prop yourself up again, your face showing an expression of disbelief. âI- I canât do that.. I donât think I can.â
Of course, they'd hardly take that as an answer. âWeâll see that for ourselves.â
You felt Sukuna grab onto your thighs once more, his fingers digging into your flesh as he pulled you towards him. He effortlessly picks you up, carrying you over his shoulder and walking towards what seemed like one of the fire trucks.
You heard a door open, Sukuna placed you onto a longer leather seat that was behind the driver in the truck cab.
Hearing a door open behind you, Toji follows inside, crawling onto the same leather seat. He lays back, hands pumping his cock as he watches you from the other side of the seat.
Dazed, you could only immediately crawl onto Tojiâs lap, straddling him. He grins, his hands squeezing onto the soft skin of your tits and fondling as you waited for Sukuna to join.
Sukuna climbs onto the seat but this time behind you. Toji slightly moves his head to the side, taking a peek at Sukuna. Too bad, Sukuna was already busy fucking your ass with one of his fingers, making sure you were ready to be stuffed of his cock.
Jealous, Toji grips onto the doughy skin on your hips, aligning his tip with your dripping cunt before slowly sliding in.
You let out a long string of moans and curses, as you felt his thick length stretch you out as you sink down onto his cock.
âGod, you feel so good around my cock. âS like your pussyâs made for it.â
Hearing a zip behind you, you disregarded it, as you were still trying to adjust to Tojiâs size. This was cut short as you were caught by surprise by Sukuna filling you up with his own cock, this time in your ass. He was thick, but not thick as Toji. Although the length made up for it, you would think that he was all the way in but in reality it was only half.
Your eyes rolled to the back of your head as both of their cocks were stuffed deeply in both of your holes.
Your hands clutched onto the fabric of Tojiâs compression shirt, wrinkling it all together.
Toji placed his soles flat onto the seat, using this support to harshly thrust into you upwards more faster than before as Sukuna behind staggered into you at a more slowed pace. Although he wanted you bad, he made sure to be gentle. He just wanted to indulge every inch of you.
Toji on the other hand, bottomed into you balls deep, his thumb cheekily creeping over to your clit, rubbing in continuous circles as they both fucked into you.
âFucking slut,â Sukuna spits out, voice shaky as the plush flesh of your ass only clenched around him. âBoth holes stuffed full of menâs cocks who you donât know?â
Sukuna reached for your hair, grabbing a handful and pulling you back against his chest.
You whimpered, snaking one of your hands behind to his nape. Sukuna leaned in for a kiss, only to pepper more down your neck to your collarbone.
Toji kept his pace, which as quite impressive. You moaned back into Sukunaâs cheek, feeling a knot twist and form in the pit of your stomach.
âI-Itâs too much- I canâtâŠâ Your hand leaves the back of his neck, moving up higher to clutch on his coral hair as the immense pleasure had only washed through you.
Toji below you speaks, âYou think we should let her cum?â
Slapping your face as he started to slow down, he could see you were drunk of their cocks. Fortunately, Sukuna was unable to see this as he was busy behind.
Toji thrusted into you balls deep each time in a consecutive pattern, bullying your cervix as your body jolted up and down along with your tits.
Sukuna moved his hands back down, away from your hair to be able to spread your cheeks apart. Groaning as he watched his cock slip in and out of your ass, he makes a decision. âFuck, I think so. Sheâs been such a good girl this whole time.â
Toji grins, his hand moving to your cheek but this time roughly caressing your lip with his thumb. âYou hear that doll? He says you were such a good girl.â
You were unable to form a sentence, your brains were fucked out at this point and Toji, wasnât happy with this.
âFucking answer me you whore,â surprised, you came back to your senses as Toji slapped your cheek harshly, leaving a red mark on your face.
â..Please, let me cum..â you hiccuped, âI canât take it anymore.â
You watched Toji flash his same old devilish smile through your tear filled eyes, both of their paces picking up again.
Your moans turned shaky, the slapping of balls against your skin and wet noises filling the taxi cab.
Toji went back to lazily rubbing circles on your clit as both of them fucked you, making sure that you would cum on time with them.
This time, Sukunaâs hand wrapped around your throat, bringing your ear close to his mouth. âYou want us to breed you? Is that what you want?â
Lost in a trance, you just went with whatever. You didnât care anymore, you just wanted to be stuffed full of them forever.
You could only nod, but Sukuna couldnât take it as an answer.
âUse your words baby, tell me what you want.â His warm breath tickled your ear, Tojiâs thrusting making it difficult for you to speak.
You held onto Sukunaâs wrist around your throat, âI want.. both of your cum.. in me..â
Although your hand fell back onto Tojiâs shirt as Sukuna gently pushed you back down. You sighed out loud, sobbing quietly as you felt his cock slide out of you.
Tojiâs deep thrusts were the only thing you could feel, âFuck, Iâm coming.â He grunted beneath you, until you felt Sukunaâs cock entering the same hole Toji was in.
As you moaned out louder than before, the pleasure too hard to bear. You could feel yourself turning into jelly, your hands wrinkling the fabric of Tojiâs shirt once again.
Your voice strained as you felt both of their cocks shoot warm, ropes of cum into you. Your orgasm comes crashing down on you, your chest heaving as Tojiâs grip on your waist remained, but Sukunaâs hands slowly lost grip on your hair.
Both of them filled up your hole with seed to the point that it leaked out of you in no time.
Your eyes completely rolled back for tenth time this hour, feeling them both twitch inside of you, the white fluid leaking onto the black leather seats of the truck cab.
Sukuna leaves your hole first, moaning at sight of the generous amounts of cum that dripped down his length to his shaft as he slid out.
Followed by Toji, you could feel his cock slip out too, until his finger made its way back inside, making sure to fuck the escaping load back into you.
Both of them had left their mark in you, stretching you out so fully that no cock in the future can impress you but theirs.
You felt like a total cock sleeve, and your body yearned for more. But honestly, it felt like you were gonna break apart. So maybe next time.
All three of you stayed in the same spots, the windows were now fogged up to the point the entire truck cab smelled of sex.
âI can definitely point out one thing you and âem profiteroles have in common.â

A MISJUDGMENT
pairing. tyler owens x fem!reader
summary. when kate drags you back to the home for a one-week stint to help out one of her old friends, you meet tyler owens. the uncouth cowboy and his reckless actions when dealing with something as dangerous as tornados almost instantly prick your nerves until you realize maybe there's more to the cowboy than meets the eye.
warnings. description of tornados, a curse word or two, slightly inaccurate meteorological info, reader is from the midwest.
word count. 2k || masterlist
a.n. did not expect my other fic to get so much love!! sending kisses to everyone who sent me such nice words <3 and I am having a ball with all of the wonderful requests I'm getting!!
The difference between the Oklahoma and New York was more jarring than you remembered. The wide-open skies and fields that stretched for miles were a distantly familiar sight as you stepped out of the truck. You had grown up in the Midwest, smack dab in the middle of tornado alley, which meant your youth was spent listening to your cautious mother warn you every tornado season of the dangers the storms posed so youâd always be prepared when worst came to worst. Youâd hunkered down more time than you could count in your storm cellar, listening to doors rattling and the radio speak. Your father was less cautious; he enjoyed watching the storms roll in on the front porch as he listened to the distant hum of sirens.Â
Youâd never been a fan of storms, not like your father. They made you nervous; the unpredictably and devastating destruction wasnât something you found fascinating enough to chase.
Moving to New York was a culture shock but you were lucky enough to score to a job working in tandem with someone who also grew up in tornado alley. You and Kate quickly became friends, bonding over your upbringing and knowledge of the weather. She had opened up to you about her storm-chasing days, all ending with the tragedy that took the lives of three people she loved. Her story only cemented your opinion of storm chasing; it was too risky. But she had suckered you in with your love for the science behind weather, and the next thing you know you were in Oklahoma with Kate and a friend of hers on a one-week mission.
You stuck back with the team in charge of reading the data the chasers collected. Your apprehension wasnât thwarted by Kateâs reassurance, but youâd always known her to be smart and she knew those storms better than anyone. Your distaste for storm chasers was not because of those there for the science of it all, but rather those who did it for the thrill.Â
Tyler Owens was exactly the kind of person you expected to drive into tornados with no regard for the danger. What he was doing, from what you gathered from Javiâs brief explanation, was for entertainment and the excitement of facing down peril, laughing in the face of it.Â
You stretched in the nighttime air as Kate closed the truck door behind her and turned to you with the same unsure smile sheâd been carrying around since you arrived in Oklahoma. You could tell her feelings were mixed about being back there, but you also saw the spark of enjoyment she was slowly relighting.Â
âIâll go check us in,â Kate said, gesturing to the front office of the motel before she took off. You leaned against the side of Javiâs truck, yawning and taking in the scene of more storm chasers lounging around the motelâs lot, enjoying each otherâs company as you all waited for another storm to pop up amidst the outbreak.Â
The sound of boots under gravel approached you, belonging to none other than Tyler Owens himself. âHow âya holding up, city girl?â he said.Â
He introduced himself to you and Kate when you first arrived with Javi, meeting his team and the other groups of chasers who were all gunning after the same storm. She had told him the two of you were in from New York for the week, and he assumed that meant you both were born and raised there. Maybe you had lost your Midwest twang during your stay, but no matter how far you moved away, a piece of you would always remain there.Â
âJust fine, thank you,â you replied. His team had set up not far from where you two stood; they all seemed busy working on their equipment, but their work was often cut by howls of laughter. They seemed to be enjoying themselves more than Javiâs team was. Theyâd all split up into separate rooms for the night, so theyâd be ready to leave first thing in the morning.Â
He rested his arm against the bed of the truck, making himself comfortable as he too looked out across the lot at the people. âIâve always wanted to visit New York City,â he said, surprising you. That seemed like the last place someone like him wanted to go. âWhatâs it like?âÂ
You shrugged. âA lot different than this.â You looked upwards at the sky, seeing stars blinking back at you. The skies were never that dark in New York City, but the towering buildings made for a cool scene too. âI havenât lived there too long, though. Iâm still figuring it out.â You were still trying to gauge if you liked it more than home. You liked the hustle and bustle most of the time, but being back under starry skies and open plains, you had to admit you missed it a little.Â
âReally?â he furrowed his brows. âWhereâd you move from?âÂ
âKansas.âÂ
He smiled in disbelief. âWell, Iâll be damned. City girlâs not actually a city girl after all.âÂ
âIâm full of surprises.âÂ
âIâm seeinâ that.â Tyler was quiet for a moment before he asked, âDo you miss it?âÂ
You werenât sure why he asked or why he seemed to care, but you answered regardless. âSometimes. Not so much the storms though.âÂ
He laughed. âYet, youâre out here storm chasing anyway?âÂ
âIâm just here to help my friend; their business is to help people. That kind of storm chasing I can get behind, I guess. Yours on the other handâŠâ You trailed off, and he scoffed in mock offense.Â
âMy kind of business is to face my fears.âÂ
It was your turn to scoff. âBy putting yourself and your friends in danger forâŠwhat, exactly? Your internet audience? I know plenty of people like you from back home. Youâre reckless and irresponsible.â You saw Kate waving you down by the stairs of the motel, flashing a set of room keys in the air. You said nothing more to Tyler, didnât even give him a chance to defend himself, before you walked off and into your room for the night
Youâd seen devastation before following a tornado, but it was still a harrowing sight. Homes flattened, family belongings flung miles away, and people left hurt in the ruins of their town. You, Kate, and all of Javiâs team arrived just as the storm subsided and the damage was fresh as wounds many of the townspeople bared. You wasted no time going around to help people; Kate did the same.Â
An old woman sat in her front yard, carefully cradling windchimes in her arms. âAre you all right?â you asked, kneeling down in the wet grass in front of her. She looked up slightly startled but smiled kindly as she shook her head. âOh, no. Iâm just fine, dear, thank you.âÂ
âHere you go, Ms. Riley,â a familiar voice sounded from behind you. You turned your head just as Tyler appeared, holding a small box in one hand and a little kitten in the other. The woman, Ms. Riley, gasped and sat her windchimes back on the grass. She took the kitten, teary-eyed, as it purred. âThereâs food there too. Make sure you eat, and if you need more my teamâs got a table set up just down the road, all right?âÂ
âThank you,â she said.Â
Tyler said nothing to you as he began to walk away, but you followed him, not catching up with him until he was at a little table surrounded by his team. They had a stack of brown boxes they were handing out, filled with sandwiches one of the members was making quickly. They also handed out bottles of water to the line of people who had just been affected by the storm.Â
One of his team members smiled at you, holding out a box of food. âYou hungry?â they asked, but you shook your head.Â
âNo. These people need it, but thanks.âÂ
You werenât sure for a moment that Tyler was going to say a word to you. You hadnât left your last conversation on the nicest note, only to find him and his team working hard to help the ravaged neighborhood.Â
But he turned toward you for a moment, looking a little conflicted. âAt least take a water,â he said before looking at another member of his team. âLily, can you take some boxes up the road? Thereâre some people who can make it all the way down here.â She nodded, filling her arms with the boxes before she took off.
You were quiet for a moment, staring at Tyler as he and his team came up with a plan to help and feed as many people as they could before night fell. You felt a complicated set of feelings topple over you. And as Tyler started to walk away, you surged forward and grabbed his arm, forcing him to turn around.Â
âWhat can I do to help?âÂ
Together, you and Tyler spent the rest of the afternoon helping members of the neighborhood find their lost belongings and connected anyone with injuries to the EMTs working overtime. It wasnât until the sun started to set that you took a break, finding a blown-away lawn chair that was still usable to sit on. All day you had eaten your judgment and first impression of Tyler and his team. Maybe they all were reckless and a little irresponsible in their storm-chasing, but they were doing just as Kate was, helping people, just differently. He and his team apparently did that often and were some of the first responders to the damage the tornados they chased caused. You had overheard Lily tell Kate they used the money from their t-shirt sales to buy food for victims of the storm.Â
âHey,â Tyler greeted, approaching you with two boxes of food. âHere.â He handed onto to you before he found a seat and pulled it up beside you.Â
You thanked him before the two of you ate in silence for a little while. Some of the debris had been picked up, but the wrecked houses haunted the street. Youâd been lucky enough to never lose your home turning a storm, but you knew too many people who had. It was terrible. That was why you had gotten a metrology degree. You had witnessed the devastation storms brought and even though you were trapped behind a computer most days, your goal was to help improve warning systems for all kinds of disasters and ensure that people knew the best way to prepare for them, but it wasnât foolproof. Sometimes all there was to do was help pick up the pieces in the wake.Â
âI think I misjudged you,â you said, breaking the silence.Â
âYeah?â He smiled slightly, his face warmly illuminated by the ironically beautiful sunset. âAre you taking back the reckless and irresponsible comment?âÂ
âNo.â You smiled too. âBut maybe thatâs not such a bad thing. You guys did a good thing here, helping these people.âÂ
Maybe there was more to him than you had originally believed.Â
âItâs all a part of the job,â he said, a bit too casually for all of the work they actually did to help; one could say he was humble about it, which confused you even more. From the second he climbed out of his truck the first time you saw him, you were so sure you knew exactly the kind of guy he was.Â
âYou arenât exactly how I expected you to do,â you said, honestly.Â
He seemed to take that in stride, smirking at you bright enough to bring heat to your face. âWell, if you stick around, you might even get to like me.âÂ
You laughed. âDonât push your luck, cowboy.â But you had a feeling he right be right. The week wasnât over yet; you still had time to figure out exactly who Tyler Owens was.Â
