Dear You,
It’s easier to say this to the void than to tell it to your face. Your face causes too much pain and heartache, even in memory. I remember all of it, every detail. It’s almost burned into the back of my eyes, haunting me. I did it on purpose back then. I memorized everything to have you back then. I sat in silence, watching you sleep, counting your freckles across your face until I could do it in my sleep. But now, it’s just a constant reminder that I’ll never see you again. It’s a bad thing for us, I’m sure, but I’m okay with it now. Usually I would say that I hope that I haunt you too. That feeling changes all the time. Sometimes, I wish I could haunt every corner we’ve turned, every place we’ve gone to, every song we shared. But nowadays, I just want your ghost to leave me alone. I know you’re not thinking of me; if you did, you would have reached out by now. I counted my losses a long time ago when it came to you. There wasn’t any right person, wrong time with us; it was right me, wrong you. I hope you realize that you had someone who moved heaven and earth to be with you. Someone who would dedicate every love song and give my heart to you at any moment. You still have a piece of my heart with you; even now, it’s in that stupid nose piercing you got on our first date. But I can’t live my life regretting that you never came back. I can’t keep letting you linger like the smell of burnt toast. I want release. If I can’t have your apology, I want freedom from you. I thought it would be us against the world, one Mac Miller song at a time, but that was then; now I try to think of anything else when he plays. Sometimes, I hope that I haunt you the way you haunt me, but nowadays, I just wish you could leave my mind the same way you left me.

Someone sent an anonymous ask about Soap being all whiny and jealous, complaining to Simon about how lucky he is to have such a pretty, curvy girl and Tumblr swallowed it 😫 (This is gonna be a 2 parter)
Warnings: nsfw, threesome, sub soap and reader, dom ghost, training, voyeurism
But I can imagine Ghost would be so sick and tired of it. Johnny's constantly yapping like the mutt he truly is: "Yer a lucky man, LT. Findin' a pretty bird like that." "Where'd ye get her? Need to find one for myself." "She as soft as she sounds?"
Ghost wants to snap at him for talking about you like that - he shouldn't be talking about you at all. But he knows the poor man is just lonely, aching to have something soft and supple like you. Your smiling face smushed between Ghost's fingers when you come to drop off the lunch he forgot. The jeans that fit snuggly around your ass and thighs, the shirt that hugs the swell of your breasts, stretched thin as it barely contains them... poor Johnny boy can't help but whine at the sight of something so appetizing, so soft and warm right there - he's jealous of his LT. How did someone so hard around the edges pluck something so sweet?
Simon hates to see him so upset, pouting in the corner like a scolded puppy as you stare at your boyfriend with stars in your eyes. Johnny could have a girl, but he gets overeager: fucking them on the first date, leaving them sore and bitten and tearful. He's too rough, and they're quick to excuse themselves, fleeing the next morning and blocking him from all social media.
Johnny needs to learn to be patient and gentle with his toys. He's nice enough to let the sergeant practice with his own pretty girl, and you're more than happy to assist Soap with his green-eyed monster.
After a nice dinner at his LT's house, served by you - along with some bronze, liquid courage - Johnny sits on the recliner, chatting with Ghost, who's relaxed on the sofa. You enter the living room and stand next to Simon, biting your lip excitedly and staring between the two of them. Simon wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you to sit on the arm of the sofa.
"Y' think she's pretty?" He asks Johnny, who blinks.
Gorgeous. Comely. Ravishing. "Course I do." He responds plainly, trying not to get worked up over the way you're perched next to his LT so prettily.
"Yea, you do..." Simon mutters, squeezing the flesh at your thigh. "What's it you said? 'She must look nice, spillin' out my hands’?"
Soap is nothing short of mortified. His eyes are wide, staring back at Simon - he doesn't know what to say. He said those things within the secrecy of his conversation with his lieutenant - he didn't expect him to repeat it outside of that bubble, let alone in front of you, the person in question.
"N' what else was it? 'Need t' have a pretty li'l wife with a rack like that to lay my head-"
"Simon!!"
Soap finally glares at his LT, his fingers digging into his own thighs. His heart is pounding in his chest. Is Ghost trying to get you to hate him?
You giggle and stand upright. "It's ok, Johnny." You coo, slowly walking over to him with your hands behind your back. "I like it. It means you like me."
Soap has little time to do anything but grunt when you swing a leg over his thighs and seat yourself in his lap. Your cleavage is right there, just inches from his face, and he can feel the bare skin of your thighs burning through his trousers.
"Help me take this off?" You tug at the skirt of your dress, looking down at him with those innocent, glossy eyes.
He can't breathe. His clothes are too hot and too tight, his cock nearly choking in the confines of his pants. He looks to his lieutenant for help - Ghost just smiles, like he's watching his favorite porn. He might be, depending on how this plays out.
"Go on, Johnny. Slowly."
Johnny wants to be anything but slow, once he realizes his best friend is showing you off like a collectible toy. He looks back up at you, watching the way your plump lip catches between your teeth. He carefully reaches around, grabbing the back of your neckline and tugging the zipper down - slowly, as he was instructed. He can barely focus on the movement with your breasts right there, imagining what they'd taste like between his warm lips. The shoulders of your dress fall away, revealing the lacy bra you're wearing. He looks up at you, drool pooling under his tongue as you slide your hands over his shoulders, one coming around to play with the base of his mohawk.
"You can take it off." You whisper.
He wastes no time, his hands smoothing up your back and unclasping your bra in one motion. He helps you pull it from your shoulders - your breasts, round and full, now pressing against his chest. He wants to touch. He needs to touch.
He shoots a hungry, pleading look to Ghost - he nods back at Soap, which is all the sergeant needs to absolve his filthy behavior. He closes your breast in his palm, eyes hazy as he takes your nipple into his warm mouth. He hardly has to move his head forward because you lean into his mouth, your fingers grasping at his hair and your back arching deliciously. Johnny groans, using one hand to dig his fingers into the thick flesh at your hips, and his other to press his palm against your lower back. He shifts himself down as his tongue swirls around your nipple, groans leaving his throat and reverberating against the bud, quickly hardening from his ministrations. You sound so sweet, high-pitched coos and soft breaths pouring from between your lips as you press your weight against Soap, shoving your breast as far into his mouth as he can take. You kiss the crown of his head, whispering a good boy against his skin.
He practically whines, bucking his hips upwards, relishing in how your body grounds him into the sofa cushions. He releases your breast with a pop and quickly takes the other one into his hand, sealing his lips over it with a hum. He looks up at you through wanting, begging eyes as you toss your head back, squeezing your thighs around his hips. His tongue undulates against your stiffening peak, slobbering around the underside of your breast as he gives you another experimental jerk of his hips. You gasp, rolling your hips back down onto him and staring at him with your lust-blown pupils.
His cock is demanding to be let free. He's going to fuck you hard, he's going to pound you into the chair until you're begging, showing his LT just how much of a good boy he is. He's never felt this blazing forest fire within his veins, setting off nerve after nerve and burning a trail right down to his hard, throbbing member.
He hooks his fingers into the hem of your soaked panties, fully intending to rip them off - but you quickly grab his wrist and yank his hand away. He looks at you, blinking through his trance as a look of confusion settles on his face. "Wha's wrong?"
You giggle his expression - the sound goes straight to his tip with another rush of blood. "These are for Simon." you whisper, slowly pushing yourself off of Soap's lap. He lets his arms fall to his sides with a desperate look, letting you back away, right into Ghost's waiting lap.
"Gonna show ya a thing or two, Johnny." he says, pulling you back to his chest. "Teach ya a few tricks, maybe you'll be able t' keep a woman longer than a day." he pulls a switchblade from his pocket and flicks it open. The blade drags down over your belly - you chew your lip as it electrifies your skin, the tip sliding lower and lower until he's running it over your pussy. The fabric is soaked as he lingers there, the sharp edge barely separated from your cunt by your flimsy, drenched panties.
You stare at Soap, not once breaking eye contact as Ghost slices through the fabric. Soap's mouth is agape in disbelief and lust, enamored by the sight before him. He can't tear his eyes from the view of your sopping, glistening pussy, watching as Simon slides his thick fingers over your folds. He catches his thumb under the hood of your clit and you jolt, shooting a hand down to grab his wrist - but he doesn't stop. You whine and mewl, leaning your head back against his shoulder as he flicks the bud, strumming over it slowly.
He stares Soap in the eyes, watching his reaction. "Alright there, Johnny?"
He's drooling, mouth hung open, hypnotized by the way your muscles clench with each stroke of Simon’s thumb. “… Aye…” he manages to say – his fingers dig into the cushions beneath him as he tries to control the urge to tear across the room and drive his cock into your cunt, fucking you against his lieutenant’s chest the way you deserve: rough and hard. Simon’s been teasing you too long; you need to be ravaged, orgasm after orgasm pulled from you, faster than you can think.
“Let me have a go, yea?” he says boldly, looking at Simon with desperation. “That’s what this is, right? Ye want me to fuck ‘er nice? I’ll do it. I’ll do it, sir – I’ll take good care of her-“
“No you won’t.” Simon interjects before the dog can get too riled up. His fingers are now strumming up and through your folds, and you’re panting and staring at Johnny with needy desire. “’S why you can’t keep anyone. You’re too eager.”
The truth shoots through Soap’s chest like an arrow, and he meets Simon’s gaze. He’s obviously rock-hard in his trousers, he won’t even attempt to hide it. Simon’s got a cocky, knowing smirk on his face, and you… poor you is just wishing Simon would spit out what he wants to say, so the three of you could get on with the show.
“Gonna teach you a few secrets, sergeant.” Simon says, and Soap isn’t sure what to think about having his rank used in this situation. “My girl needs to cum.” He pulls his fingers away from you – you whine in frustration, but are quickly silenced when two, thick digits are stuffed into your mouth. You obediently clean off your own slick with your tongue, looking back down at Johnny with a heavy, lidded stare.
“I’ll make her cum.” Soap says quickly. If this is a matter of whether or not he can make someone cum, he’ll pass that test easily.
“You’ll do it right.” Simon growls. “Need to understand the difference between getting’ your cock wet and pleasuring ‘er. ‘S my girl ‘n I won’t have you roughhousing ‘er. Got it?”
Soap’s throat bobs as he swallows. It was another task, another order from his superior. He clears his mind of any preprogrammed, lustful thoughts, sent straight to his brain from his achingly hard member – this wasn’t about him. It was about following instructions. He was a good soldier, he could do that much.
“Yes sir.”
Simon nods. He shifts hips, pulling his fingers from your lipsand grabbing your hips. You grab his forearms for support as he spreads his muscular thigs, forcing your legs farther apart as they rest on either side of his knees. Slick dribbles down from your pussy and onto Simon’s length, which is about to tear a hole through his pants.
“Then get to it. Sick of hearin’ you yap all day about not bein’ able to keep a girl. Put your mouth to good use – we’re about to fix that.”

A continuation of this post:
There is a teenager in the Watchtower.
Scratch that, there is a teenager that Bruce doesn't know in the Watchtower. The boy, maybe around Tim's age, is wearing worn blue jeans, a white t-shirt and a pair of tennis shoes that had seen better days.
He is wearing no mask, no suit of armor, with no weapons on him. He's just sitting in one of the seats in their larger meeting room, quite literally twiddling his thumbs. He hadn't noticed Batman standing in the doorway.
Behind him, he heard Clark coming round the corner, Bruce lifted up a gloved hand which made the man stop.
"What is it, Bats?"
Bruce sent the man a look before motioning to the boy, who had definitely noticed them now.
He waved at them.
"Who is that? Don't you normally require all your new kids wear costumes up here?" Clark asked.
"Unknown." Bruce said before giving his friend a look. "He's not mine."
Why does everyone assume it's his kid? Just because this boy has dark hair and blue eyes does not mean he belongs to Bruce. Clark has nearly the same looks as Bruce, and he had two kids, why couldn't this one be one of his?
"He's not mine either!" Clark said before frowning. "Not that I know of."
Bruce lifted up an eyebrow, knowing his friend could see it beneath his cowl. Clark rolled his eyes.
"Let's be honest if he was one of mine, you would know before I would."
Bruce grunted and turned back to the teenager. The kid was clearly listening in on them while looking away from them. Bruce watched as he tapped on the table in front of him, making little staccato noises of anxiety.
"Why are we waiting out here?" Barry asked, appearing right in a blur of red and yellow right as he did. Clark pointed at the unknown in the meeting room. Barry grinned widely beneath his own cowl, making the rubbery material crinkle.
"Batsy! Another one? You sly dog, where'd you find this one?"
"He's not mine." Bruce growled, Barry actually froze for a moment, shock slowing him down to normal speed for a moment.
"Nice joke, Bats. If he's not yours, then whose is he?"
Bruce clenched his jaw, Barry looked between the two of them, head flipping rapidly until he realized it wasn't a joke. In the corner of his eye, he could see that the unknown was openly staring at them with a smile forming on his face.
"We are in space." Barry hissed. "How'd a random kid get in here?"
"Excuse me?"
Behind the three hero pile up, Arthur arrived. The King looked less than pleased at having his way impeded.
"I come to these bi-monthly meetings due to their importance. I have an entire kingdom to manage, so if we could all move?"
"Bats has a new kid!" Barry nearly shouted.
"He's not mine!" Bruce growled while Arthur looked up and over Barry to see the unknown.
"Do we have a security breach?" Arthur asked.
"He's not yours yet!" Barry said at the same time, lifting up a finger and pointing it right at Bruce's face.
"We don't know who it is or how they got here." Clark said. "He doesn't seem hostile."
"Appearances can be deceiving, Superman." Arthur said , pursing his lips. Bruce turned to see that the boy had now waved in greeting at Arthur and Barry. Barry waved back.
"Are we having a hallway party or something?" Captain Marvel asked. "A party sounds waaaay more fun than a meeting, no offense Batman."
"We have an intruder, Captain." Arthur said pointing directly at the kid.
The kid's eyes widened and he looked behind himself before pointing at his own chest in surprise.
"He doesn't seem like an intruder?" Marvel said with a frown. "What if he's lost?"
"The watchtower is a secure facility, people don't get here by accident." Bruce said.
"I dunno, Batman." Marvel shrugged. "We have aliens, magicians, and time travelers on our team. He could be lost."
Bruce refused to admit the genial man had a point, the unknown could be from anywhere or anywhen. From further down the hallway, John and Diana appeared, walking together. Diana was holding a glass filled with one of Barry's chocolate protein shakes. John nodded in greeting at the group.
"We have an intruder Wonder Woman." Arthur said.
Diana looked through the crowd before shaking her head.
"Nonsense. He has permission to be here. Come, we should sit for the meeting."
Diana muscled her way through the crowd, still carrying the glass. She walked directly over to the unknown. The boy perked up, smiling widely as Diana held out the glass for him
"Thanks, i was getting hungry." The boy said before taking a large gulp of the shake, Diana smiled down at the boy, resting her hand in his dark hair.
"Woah. Plot twist." Barry whispered.
"Come on, let's get to the bottom of this." Clark said walking into the room, following the path Diana took.
The rest of the League followed suit, taking their assigned seats around the table. Bruce wasn't surprised to see that the unknown was sitting in an extra chair right next to Diana.
"To start the meeting." Diana said onc everyone was seated. "I do have some news to share."
"Yeah, I sure hope so." Marvel said in that strange, joking tone he used as if he were quoting something, not that Bruce had ever been able to recognize the quotes.
"I would like to introduce the Justice League to my son, Daniel of Themyscira." Diana said, putting her arm around the unknown and squeezing him to her side.
"Hi." Daniel said, waving at the group, his cheeks a bit red.
Immediately, there was an uproar from most everyone in the League. Questions and shouts of confusion, shock, and denial. Diana only allowed the noise for a few moments before she slammed her fist onto the table hard enough to crack it.
"Enough!" She shouted, quickly quelling the group. "I will not allow my decision to bring my son here be questioned."
She glared at them fiercely, still holding Daniel to her side. The boy had ducked down a bit with the shouting but was now looking up at Diana with adoration.
"This entire team, aside from Captain Marvel, has brought their young charges to the League." Diana continued, looking at each of them. "Superman has brought up two Superboys, Aquaman introduced to us Aqualad, Flash has both Impulse and Kid Flash, Martian Manhunter came to us with Miss Martian. I do not believe we even have time to list all of Batman's brood."
Barry had the audacity to snort at Diana's last point. That actually eased the tension and people relaxed. Diana leaned back into her seat.
"I would think that my team of many years would trust my judgment in bringing my son here. I assure you he is well into his training and more than competent. I will allow you all to ask your questions now."
Bruce cleared his throat near silently and spoke up first.
"What does he know?"
Diana didn't look impressed at his question. Daniel looked at her face before frowning at Bruce, clearly following his mother's lead.
"I have spoken at length about the League and how we work together. I assure you that i have not revealed any identities shared in confidence with me." Diana's tone made it clear she was offended that Bruce would accuse her of revealing their identities. He barely kept from wincing.
"Uhm. How did he... come to be?" Clark asked, clearly not wanting to ask any truly intimate details.
"In the way all children do." Diana said, giving Clark a look of his own.
That answer was not very helpful given that Diana was formed from clay by her mother. Had she taken a pottery class when he wasn't looking? Unless the boy was much older than he appeared, there was no way Diana had hidden a pregnancy from them 15 or so years ago.
"Why haven't we heard of him before now?" Arthur asked.
"Daniel was training with Pandora, one of the elders of Themyscira, she sent him here when he learnt all she had to teach. He joined me in the world of man only a few months ago." Diana answered simply.
"Uh. Excuse my ignorance." Barry said in a tone that made it clear he was about to say something very ignorant indeed. "But I thought your family only had women in it?"
This time Daniel answered, looking nervous.
"I'm. I'm trans actually." he answered, while rubbing his arm nervously.
"Which is completely fine and something that will not leave this room." Diana said, her voice comforting towards her son while her eyes promised hellfire to the heroes in the room.
Everyone made noises of agreement until Daniel relaxed, going back to smiling.
"Excuse me Wonder Woman, will Daniel be wanting to join any of the other, younger teams?" Captain Marvel asked, sounding excited at the idea.
Which of course he would, he was still acting Den Mother for Young Justice and loving it.
"That is up to him. For now I would like to keep him to myself for a while longer, but once he is further trained by myself I think it would be a splendid opportunity."
"Yes!" Daniel agreed before clearing his throat. "I mean, that'd be cool or whatever."
"We can discuss it in the future." Bruce allowed, knowing that it would probably happen sooner than Diana would want knowing how both the Teen Titans and Young Justice were. Danny nodded eagerly at that.
"Finish your food." Diana told Daniel before looking back up at the rest of the team. "Are there any more questions?"
"Does Daniel have any health requirements or powers we need to be aware of?" John asked. "Or is his physiology the same as your own?"
"His powers are vastly different from my own. It is one of the reasons Pandora had taken on his training in the beginning." Diana answered easily. "The facilities and resources we have here should work well for him in case of injury."
The knowledge that Daniel's powers were so different from Diana's that she didn't feel comfortable training him herself was worrisome. Amazons, as far as he knew, had relatively similar powersets. Although he had not heard of Pandora before, perhaps she was specialized?
"I do have, what's it called? An enhanced metabolism. Most stuff here doesn't work on me."
"Don't worry son. We have plenty of medications designed with metas in mind." Clark told Danny. "If it works on me and your mom, it willl work for you."
"Cool."
"What all can you do?" Captain Marvel asked.
Daniel turned to look at Diana who nodded. The boy then looked back at them and started listing his powers.
"I can fly. Not as fast as mom's invisible jet but pretty fast. I'm super strong. I can turn invisible and intangible."
"Intangible?" Clark asked.
"It is an ability similar to Martian Manhunter's density shifting." Diana clarified. "The mechanisms are different."
Magical, most likely, instead of John's more science based power. Bruce would have to come up with more contingencies to compensate for that.
"Yeah intangibility is pretty cool." Daniel told them. "Althought when i first got it, it was pretty scary. I kept falling through stuff. I was almost afraid I'd start falling through the whole planet by accident. I totally have it under control now though."
"I would be interested in comparing our abilities, Daniel." John said, nodding his head towards him. The boy beam excitedly.
"Yeah!"
"Not in the Watchtower." Diana warned, voice stern.
Yes, that was probably sensible. Danny agreed with his mother, and John clarified that he would be happy to meet up planetside at their convenience.
"Are those all of your abilities?" Barry asked, Daniel shook his head.
"No there are a bunch more. But I'm not supposed to use them for a while."
"Why?"
"My son is powerful, but he has relied on his powers far too much in the past." Diana said, sounding porud enough to make her son blush. "Right now, I am training his melee abilities, we have agreed to a temporary pause until he has met my standards."
"It's been super tough. Mom's making me practice with her sword all the time." Danny added on.
"My mother will be sending on your own weapon soon." Diana soothed. "Hephestes does not like to be rushed."
"I know mom."
Diana reached up and ruffled her son's hair. Daniel leaned into the affection with a smile.
"Are there any further questions?" Diana asked, when no one had anything immediately she nodded. "Good. Is there any further business? If not, I would like to take my son home for a proper meal."
Everyone looked at each other. Bruce had wanted to discuss some of his findings, but with Diana's reveal, it hardly seemed important any longer. Bruce was going to need to do a lot of research and planning. He wondered if he should get Tim involved or if he should hold off. The League agreed to end the meeting early, Diana stood.
"Come Daniel. We should get to the jet."
Daniel scrambled up and followed his mother out of the meeting room, his worn sneakers squeaking a bit on the flooring. The rest of the League sat in silence for a moment taking in what Diana had told them.
Wonder Woman had a child. A child with powers beyond her own.
Daniel popped back into the room before anyone could speak.
"Gosh, I am sorry I almost forgot. Mr. Batman, I have something for you."
Daniel walked right over to Bruce, who stared at him from underneath the cowl. The boy was not nearly as confident as his mother when it came to his glare. He cringed a bit, but reached into his pocket and pulled out a tiny, silver and green flash drive. He placed it on the table and stepped back.
"What is that?"
"Mom told me you like to make contingencies for everyone. In case they go crazy or whatever. So..." The boy motioned to the drive with his hand. "I mean, it'd be weird if i made my own plans, but like, you could do it. That has all my powers and weaknesses and stuff."
Bruce grabbed the flash drive and the boy looked pleased.
"Okay! I gotta go. It was awesome meeting you guys!"
Daniel turned on his heel and ran out of the room. Bruce looked down at the flash drive, doing his best to hide his shock. No one has ever just handed him a list of their weaknesses before.
"I dunno Bats, are you sure he's not yours?" Barry asked.

this is part one || part two || part three || part four || part five
Simon 'Ghost' Riley, who always kept such a stoic, emotionless facade, couldn't help but feel drawn in when he walked past your house.
Your windows were wide open, so the loud music crept out into the street as you danced around the kitchen, belting out lyrics along to the song. Simon paused as he noticed, a huff of laughter escaping from him as a smile crept over his masked face.
Stepping forward slightly, the Lieutenant craned his neck to peer through the window, his eyebrows furrowing with amusement as you jig around to the song, your singing muffled as you bend down to put a tray in the oven.
"Not too bad," Simon mutters to himself, referring to your singing. After a moment, he snaps out of his intrigued gaze, realising how creepy he probably looked, also realising, despite these unfamiliar feelings, how different he was to this person he'd never even spoken too, like a slab of concreate being best friends with a rainbow.
He carries on walking, shaking his head as if to shake the 'sense' back into himself, however he just couldn't get rid of that slightly fluttery feeling in the base of his belly. Ghost was used to being able to walk through life not feeling anything for anyone, partly because of his rough childhood and mostly because of the mannerisms gained from his line of work. Yeah, you hadn't had a great experience growing up either, but you were so open. Simon almost found it... refreshing?
Even at work he couldn't get rid of that lingering feeling. In the mess room, it was obvious. Simon was always... grumpy, to say the least, but today he wasn't even getting angry at MacTavish when he was being annoying, which was a clear indicator something was off.
Soap stops messing around, his grin shrinking to some degree. "Alright, LT?" he inquires, tilting his head slightly. Ghost grunts, scowling through his mask. Gaz looks over, nodding in agreement at Johnny. "Yeah, to be fair you seem off Simon."
Simon turns to Soap, then Kyle, his eyes dark. "Stop fucking pestering." He says bluntly, voice deep and gravelly.
Later, (in the pub, obviously) Simon was still quiet, sulking over his drink.
"I say we buy him some more booze and get him to spill," Soap whispers to Kyle, eyebrows raised smugly like some evil genius devising a master plan. "Yeah he's being weird." Garrick responds a little to loudly, and Ghost's neck pretty much snaps round. He looks the two up and down before returning to his drink. "Aye the blokes very crabbit." MacTavish mutters, rolling his eyes.
After Kyle and John had made poor Simon tipsy from countlessly thrusting more and more drinks before him, they started to question him. "Why so silent?" Garrick's eyes flick to Johnnies, as if to ask for approval for the question. Soap grins and nods, watching as Simon slams down down his fists on the table, leaning backwards in his chair.
"There's this girl," He mutters, shaking his head as both Gaz and Soap sit up, leaning in. "A lass, aye?" MacTavish squints, smirking at Simon. "Where'd you meet?"
"We haven't- I mean, I saw her through her window..." Simon grumbles, adjusting his skull mask. "Oh?" Kyle's mouth opens in a confused O shape. "Bit pervy. Maybe talk to her?"
"No... it'd be like a bag of skittles.. and I dunno, a boring old rock shagging." Ghost pouts through the mask, eyebrows contorted slightly.
"So... yer different from each other?" Johnny frowns, evidently bewildered. "I think he went and fell in love with this window lassie," He turns to Gaz, his expression contagious.
"That's the fucking problem!" Yells Simon, his eyes shining with unironic yet comical sadness. He slams his large, gloved hands into his face, tipping back on the chair.
"Show us window girl then," Garrick chuckles, obviously not convinced. The three man stand up, Soap shoving a few notes onto the table and thumping Simon's back gently as they walk out into the dark.
"She lives like..." The lieutenant trails off, pointing randomly around before stomping off down the road. After about 10 minutes of walking, he stops abruptly in front of your small house. The downstairs lights were all on, shining cosily from inside. The three stand there for a moment before Soap nudges Simon. "You gonnae talk to her or not?" Kyle steps back slightly as Ghost groans like some enamoured softy. "Maybe not..." Gaz murmurs.
"Oh you and your sensibleness can fuck right off." Johnny says as he starts to shoves Ghost up the pathway to your house, knocking on the door before darting away and leaving the bewildered man just standing there. Simon registers what's happening as the lock starts to click. It was too late for him to walk away. His breath hitches as you open the door and open your mouth, confused. "Hi?" You say, voice slightly unsure.
His eyes widen and he grins sheepishly, taking in your beauty close up and blinking as he starts to speak. "Hello Miss," You shift around slightly, grip tight on the door. Who the fuck is this guy? You think to yourself, looking the masked figure up and down.
You step backwards slightly as you notice another two men walking up the path, one grinning and the other rather reluctant. The one with strange looking mohawk places a firm hand on the masked mans shoulder and the other one just cowers behind mohawk man.
"My friend Simon here would like your number," Soap smiles, Scottish accent loud in the crisp night air. Simon nods enthusiastically. "You're pretty," He slurs, sticking up his thumb and grinning with his eyes. You nod, trying not to burst out laughing.
"Oh, well... thanks," You smile briefly, leaning backwards into the house to grab a pen. You weren't sure why you were doing this... giving some random man your number, but something had you hooked. Maybe it was the fact you could see how toned and muscly he was, even through his hoodie, or just because of how blatantly bizarre the encounter was. "Here," You tug up masked mans sleave, scribbling your number on the inside of his wrist. "Yay," He mumbles, turning around and tripping down the path, his two buddies in close pursuit.
You can't help but notice him drunkenly punch the air as he stumbles down the path, and as you click the door shut you can't ignore the smile plastered on your face and the flush creeping over your cheeks.

Unexpected Hope
Damian has been disoriented all week. When he was told that stopping the ritual would have repercussions, he did not expect this. He had been dealing with the memories on his own but unfortunately he could not postpone this gala.
He had been stopping a ritual that would end up summoning the being he now knows as Undergrowth. Damien does not regret that choice especially now that he has the context. Unfortunately it brought back his memories of Phantom.
He didn't quite understand they were memories for quite a while honestly he was a little bit concerned he got possessed. Thankfully after some compartmentalizing and a little bit of isolation, he figured out what was wrong. It did not help the confusion that comes with being a Midwestern teen and an assassin child put into one body but he has gotten the hang of it.
Unfortunately Damian did not get long before he was forced back into the presence of his family. he had put off many public family events in the last few months so he was not able to get out of this event. he probably could have faked being sick but he'd much prefer to be able to pass off any of his symptoms from the memories as uncomfortableness being around strangers then be alone with his family.
He's honestly very happy with his choice after he sees her. He doesn't recognize her at first with the dark auburn braided hair and the dress being something other than black but something made him turn around when he heard her rant.
She was giving a humanitarian speech to one of the investors. At first he got closer just to hear about it. It's always funny to see the faces of the imbeciles when people don't bow to their wishes.
Damien thought he finally found someone who was not a gold digger or a social climber. What made him really stop in his tracks was her body language. It was like a neon flashing sign opened up and said ‘hey this is Sam Mason’.
Damien walked over with hope in his chest that he was not alone. she eventually seemed to get tired of the man or maybe he was able to scramble an excuse and walk away. he couldn't quite hear but by the time he walked over there it was only her.
“you seem to be quite passionate,” Damian says, trying to start a conversation and figuring out how to ask the hard question.
What is he exactly supposed to say? ‘Hey, are you my best friend for my last life or hey do you remember being on my ghost hero vigilante team that ended up with all of us being Undead royalty.’
The girl looks him over, probably trying to figure out what he wants.
“Are you here to argue?” She says angrily, obviously ready for another fight.
“Your speech reminds me of someone, have you ever heard of Samantha Mason” Damien says trying to be nonchalant.
Her eyes seem to widen and look him over again.
“Where'd you hear that name.” She ordered.
“I've heard enough of her rants to be able to pick it out from a crowd.”
“Danny,”  She said softly her grabbing his hands and squeezing as she looked around to make sure no one saw. “what how I thought it was the only one” Hope seemed to be filling her eyes.
“Hi Sam” Damien Whispers just as softly just as glad he is not alone.
Without another word Sam drags them to the stairway rushing up to the floor upstairs and trying to find a room that isn't being used. She eventually finds one two floors above the room they were using for the gala and pushes him into what looks like a break room.
“How the hell did you get your memories” Sam demands
“Why are you yelling at me? You have your memories too obviously if you are recognizing your name” Damian says shouting back at her.
Sam always has a way of catching him off guard. She was happy just a minute ago.
“yeah well I did something stupid which means I know you did something stupid” Sam said pointing her finger at him.
“ Well I may have accidentally stumbled upon a ritual for summoning an ancient and when I stopped it the backlash gave me my memories back. ” Damien stumbled over their words trying to justify themselves. "What stupid thing did you do?”
“The girls in my stupid Prep School in my grade went through a very witchy phase. there was a slumber party and they were stupid enough to actually find real magic. I had a cut on my hand earlier in the day and try to freak them out by adding a little bit of my blood. apparently my protection spell is literally stuck into my soul, so things went down” Sam says just as hesitantly as Damien
“you have zero leg to stand on okay fine we were both stupid”
They both sat there in silence for a while, mostly just basking in each other's presents realizing they weren't alone anymore.
“it's good to have you back," Damian says, giving her a weak smile and running his hands through his hair.
He'd been trained out of all of his nervous ticks but it probably makes her more comfortable to see him just as nervous as she is.
“it's good to see you too da- do you have the same name?” both of them don't seem to realize at the same time that they didn't get each other's names.
“Damien” he says as he pulls his hand out of his hair and puts his hand out for a handshake.
“Sarah” she says, grabbing his hand and giving it a shake.
the two of them shake their hand for a moment before they look at each other's eyes and burst out giggling.
Damien's really glad he decided to not pretend to be sick.

Linchpin
The GIW have finally done it; they finally rid the world of the strongest ghost in their recorded history and the world finally know peace from ghost kind.
Watchtower - Four years three months later.
"Right," Tim Drake-Wayne aka Red Robin stood before a small council of Batman, Wonder Woman, Booster Gold, Martian Manhunter and the Flash, "Thank you, everyone for allowing me to request this meeting but it's imperative that this matter be seen to before something irreversible comes to pass."
"Red Robin, wandering."
"Right, sorry." Tim taps away on the computer and pulls up several of his personal photos from his day off last month of the night sky with two bright pinpoints of lights. "This is the night sky with Alpha Centauri a month ago. I was on vacation and managed to get some good pictures for that night but something else happened that night." He pulls up another photo of the same night sky but one of the stars were gone.
"Where'd the left star go," Flash asks as he pulls over a digital copy of the two pictures.
"I don't know but it's still not there. A month ago Proxima Centauri went out and no one's saying anything about it online. I was hoping to petition the Justice League to borrow the Watchtower's computer and telescope to check the area."
"I don't see why that would be an issue," Wonder Woman says as she also looks over the pictures with the flash. "Batman?"
"I don't have a problem with it but it needed someone not connected to the issue to vote on it." With that said they voted to let Tim borrow the computer's telescope and began scanning the area. Several hours later they had a really clear picture of the area Proxima Centauri had been. In its spot there was nothing; no gas, no planets, no nebulas or anything but darkness.
"We should probably get Green Lantern or one of the space heroes." Batman's Hn spoke leagues to his current mood.
_____________________________________________________________
"So your little bird was right, Bats. Proxima's gone and it's not the only one. The Guardian's have been receiving distress calls for several universal cycles. Tamaran, Corona Seven, Betelgeuse, Alpha Corvi to name some." Hal says as he reads from a list projected from his ring, "They've traced a Decay Field originating from Earth over four years ago. Supposedly failed supervillain attack? Experimentation gone wrong?"
"We're unsure. We've talked with the United Nations and no one's come forward with anything concrete. We do have a list the length of the Batmobile of possible culprits though."
"Sorry but what's a Decay Field? I can hear those capital letters and don't just say it's a field that decays stuff." Flash asks, looking up from his portion of experiments.
"But it is... The Guardian's explained it like a kill switch to certain technologies. Something happened on Earth four years that made the universe start eating itself."
"Then why not start with our sun? Why start at a star 4 light years away," Batman asks, putting down the League's digitized stellar map, "If the field originated on Earth, Sol should have been the first to vanish."
"Strange isn't it?"
A burst of static comes from the speakers at the table, causing a couple to flinch before a corrupted male voice speaks to them.

You're Mine Now
This is well overdue, but here is a new Evan Buckley imagine which is part of the Can't You Be Mine series. It's a little spin-off I had an idea for and I hope you will all like it.

"Why do I recognise this place?"
A grin spread slowly across Evan's face as he hopped down from the truck behind Eddie. He shut the truck door behind him and took a moment to glance around the playground they had parked up in while the rest of the team clambered down and waited to be told what equipment they would need from the truck.
When a confused look flooded Chimney's face and he looked around as if he was having a sense of de ja vu, Evan gave in.
"This is Minnie's school." He murmured softly, watching as Chimney clicked his fingers and nodded while Eddie let out a small 'ah'.
Now that made sense. That was why this place was vaguely familiar to Chimney. This was where (Y/n)'s daughter went, the little girl who had already wormed her way into Evan's heart and who had enchanted all of the team with them all wrapped around her little finger.
"Alright Cap, where'd you want us?" Hen placed her hands on her hips as they all took a glance around the playground. It was deserted, but there was a larger playground at the back of the school where they figured all the kids would be lining up at the moment.
"Hen and Eddie, you two can go talk to the teachers, make sure there are no kids feeling ill. You two come with me, we're here as back up and precaution, we don't need to suit up yet."
There was a possible gas leak in the school. All the staff and children had been ecavuated outside for safety precautions and another fire department had already arrived to go inside and check. If the place was cleared and none of the kids were unwell everyone could go back inside and they could leave. But they needed another unit here just to be safe and make sure everyone was okay and in case they had a leak that needed to be stopped.
Hen and Eddie grabbed a medic bag each, just to be safe and they made their way towards the captain of the other team who was on the far left side of the next playground talking to the head teacher.
Whereas Bobby led Chimney and Evan over to the other side of the playground near to the children.
They were lined up in classes, with all the toddlers on the left near the play equipment, all of them jittering and unable to stand still. Then there were the younger kids, the middle kids and the elders up to eleven all in rows with their respective classes.
Kids were leaning over into other lines to chat with friends, some towards the back were trying to veer off a little to be together, clearly bored. And a few were watching the fire department with vigor, eager to see them do something spectacular.
Evan folded his arms over his chest and stood beside Chimney, both of them stood near the far wall with the kids lined ahead of them.
He couldn't help it. He just had to scan his eyes through the line of kids to try and find his girl. He knew she was here, he had dropped her off at the gates this morning on his way to work. The added bonus of having sunglasses perched high on his nose meant Evan could scan around the crowds without anyone really knowing what he was doing.
He was here to help and to work, not to try and look for his daughter, but he couldn't help himself. He wanted to see that she was here and alright. Minnie was a nervous girl, this would either seem utterly terrifying or strangely fun to her and Evan wanted to know that she wasn't panicking right now.
He didn't get to finish scanning the crowds to find her before his attention was drawn to Bobby who was chatting to one of the teachers. It seemed like this was either a false alarm or only a very small, contained leak which is what they were all hoping for.
"Yes, well I think that…" Whatever else the teacher began to say went in one ear and out the other when another voice distracted Evan and stole his full attention.
"Daddy!"
A wide grin spread across Minnie's lips when she looked ahead and saw a familiar figure she had been with less than three hours ago.
Without thinking twice, Minnie pulled away from the line she was stood in with the rest of her class. She didn't care that she accidentally nudged one of the younger kids beside her or that people were looking at her- something she absolutely hated. All she cared about was getting to Evan.
Her plats bashed against her cheeks as she weaved around her classmates and scuttled across the playground, almost tripping twice in her haste to get to her dad.
The four year old was surprisingly stealth as she darted away from the rest of the class and weaved expertly before her teacher could grab her.
Evan's eyes darted to the young teacher who called out "Minnie stop!" but her words had no effect. Minnie was already within Evan's grasp.
Without thinking, Evan crouched down and scooped Minnie up before she barrelled into his legs and knocked him to the ground. He swung her round just to hear her giggle and cocooned her into his chest with one hand cradling the back of her head and his lips meshed against her temple.
When he looked over Minnie's shoulder towards her teacher, he could see the recognition in her eyes. She knew he wasn't some random stranger grabbing one of the kids in the playground. He was a relative. Minnie had stated as much when she called out to him.
He softly mouthed 'sorry' in the teacher's direction but she managed a tight-lipped smile and shook her head. Clearly Minnie wasn't absconding, she was safe and she wasn't far away, as long as Evan didn't take her away from the playground it would be alright for Minnie to be with him for a little while.
"There's my girl, you okay little mouse?" He murmured each word against her temple and bounced her a little higher on his chest as he inclined back so he could look down at her.
He loved how she began to tap her fingers against his neck and she nuzzled her nose against his, nudging his glasses higher in the process. The way her nose crinkled as she smiled made Evan's grin spread and he pressed a kiss to the end of her nose.
The team all knew that he had taken Minnie on as his own. It didn't matter that she wasn't biologically his or that he hadn't been there for the first two and a half years of her life. All that mattered was that he was here now and he loved her as if he had been in her life since the beginning.
"Yeah, why you here daddy… no fire." Minnie moved one hand to wave behind her towards the school. She wasn't sure what was happening, she had no idea why everyone was practising one of their emergency drills or why they were now watching the fire department arrive. It was too confusing.
"Ah but this is an emergency and we deal with emergencies, baby. I gotta keep you safe, don't I?"
His words made Minnie smile and she kissed his cheek before she nuzzled her cheek into his shoulder and tucked up against him. He knew what she was doing. Now that she had seen him, she wouldn't want him to leave. When he had to get back to work Minnie wouldn't want him to put her down and the longer he stood here holding her, the less cooperative she would be.
He took the time to run his hand up and down her back and pepper a few more kisses to her temple while he faced Bobby and Chimney. Trying to keep an ear out for their conversation so he knew what was happening.
He knew they didn't mind him spending a few minutes with Minnie, it would be the same if any of their kids were around while they were on a call.
When he glanced down and caught Minnie closing her eyes as she snuggled closer into him, Evan took a deep breath. He needed to put her down and get her back to her class now.
"Okay baby, are you gonna go back in line now so I can try and save the day?" He murmured each word against her ear and kissed her temple when she grumbled and tried to shake her head and curl into him a bit more. If he could, Evan would stand here all day and cuddle her. But he knew the teacher was continuously glancing over at them and he would either have to help fix the leak or pack up and go soon depending on how this situation turned out.
He couldn't stand around and cuddle his girl all afternoon, despite how desperate he was to stay here with her. And he just knew that when (Y/n) picked Minnie up this afternoon, she would be telling her mum all about Evan's visit to the school and the fire trucks she had seen.
She tried to whine when Evan hunched over and carefully set her down to her feet. He held her waist so she couldn't attach herself to his legs and he pressed a sloppy kiss to her temple.
"Be a good girl for me, hm?" She nodded shyly and looked up at him through her lashes as he kissed her cheek again before turning her in the right direction to go back to her class. "Bye little mouse."
His hands moved to his hips as he watched her trot back towards her teacher, the spring now gone out of her step as the excitement had faded.
"Didn't think she was gonna let you go." Chimney whispered softly when Evan moved to stand beside him again. He thought it best to move back towards the team so Minnie was less likely to try and follow him or keep looking at him with those big doe eyes that always made Evan cave in.
Evan snook one more glance towards his girl with a smile before he turned his back and faced Bobby. It was more for his sake than hers, if he looked at her he would be inclined to cave in and go back over there or let Minnie scamper over here. He didn't want to disrrupt her when she was at school, her day had already been flipped by this emergency evacuation outside.
When Minnie slotted back into place in line with her class, she tried to smile at her friend stood beside her in the next row. Marie knew Evan was Minnie's dad, she had said hello to him a few times when he came to pick Minnie up from school.
"That's my daddy." Minnie mumbled quietly when the girl on her other side, the older girl from the next class, looked between her and where Evan and the rest of the team were stood.
"His shirt says Buckley." The girl commented with one arched brow and an unimpressed look on her face.
Didn't she think Evan and his job was good or impressive? Did she know that Minnie's dad was here to look after them and sort out the emergency? Or did she simply not care? Whatever the reason, Minnie didn't like it. She didn't like the way the older girl was looking at her.
"So?"
What did it matter what his shirt said? It said his name, what else was it supposed to say?
"Then he's not your dad, you don't share the same name."
For a moment, Minnie was shocked that this girl knew her name, but then she remembered. They had all answered when their names were called out.
And Minnie's last name wasn't Buckley.
Why did that mean he wasn't her dad? Didn't other kids sometimes have their mum's name rather than their dads? Did Minnie need Evan's name to be his daughter?
He said he was her dad. When she asked him about it, Evan agreed and (Y/n) said so too. They said he was her dad. He brought her to school, he picked her up when he wasn't at work. He took her shopping and tucked her in bed at night and read her stories. He laid with her when she had nightmares. He kissed (Y/n) which meant he was her partner and that meant he was Minnie's dad.
"Yes he is." The defiant tone in Minnie's voice was dampened by the slight crack to her words and the tears welling up in her eyes.
She wanted to stomp her foot into the ground. She wanted to drag the older girl over to Evan and tell him to tell her that he was Minnie's dad. She wanted to demand that this girl listen to her and agree what Minnie already knew. But the older girl had already turned away to talk to her friends.
A tear trickled down Minnie's cheek as she bowed her head and began to fiddle her hands in front of her.
Evan was her dad. It was all she wanted since she could remember, it was all she knew. Everyone else had two parents and Minnie hated how Evan never used to introduce himself as her dad until a year ago. She had been beaming every single day since he started to say that he was her dad. And he started to tell people that this was his little girl. That Minnie was his little girl.
He was her dad now, wasn't he? He had to be.
***
A soft smile lit up (Y/n)'s face when she watched Minnie trotting over to her from the school doors. She watched her girl bounce her Minnie Mouse backpack on her shoulders and rush ahead of everyone else, but the closer she got, the less (Y/n) began to smile.
Her daughter didn't look happy.
Instead of rushing over to (Y/n) with open arms and a wide, dazzling smile, Minnie kept her gaze on the floor and didn't reach out for (Y/n) at all. Instead of saying goodbye to her friends or walking out with them, Minnie ignored them completely like she thought she was a shadow, a ghost, invisible.
The four year old continued walking towards the gates and when (Y/n) reached out to take her hand, she shuddered when Minnie shrugged away and stomped towards the car.
A few other parents glanced their way but no one commented. Maybe Minnie was having a tantrum about something. Whatever it was, (Y/n) didn't like it. She felt like a stone was sinking to the pit of her stomach and her heart was physically aching in her chest.
Minnie was always a nervous but very happy child. She never seemed so upset and angry and frustrated like this. She always met (Y/n) at the gates with a grin and a kiss and she would hold her hand and recite everything that happened at school.
When (Y/n) unlocked the car and opened the door, Minnie wordlessly scrambled up into the passenger seat and slumped into her car seat. She refused to look at (Y/n) as she buckled her in and when (Y/n) pressed a kiss to her temple, she gained no reaction. At all.
The silence continued as (Y/n) got in the car and put her own belt on, but when she looked over and saw her daughter staring out the window as if the world was about to end, she sighed. She pulled out the car park and began to drive.
"Minnie, baby what's wrong?"
A strike of fear punctured through (Y/n)'s heart when she looked across at her daughter and saw tears starting to trickle down her face.
Why was she crying? What had happened at school today?
Both Minnie's arms bound tight around her waist and she shuffled down in her seat until she looked like she was about to melt into a puddle. Her knees curled up towards her tummy but she finally lolled her head to the left to look over at her mum. Her button nose was scrunched up and her lips were moulded into a harsh pout, showing her clear displeasure and unhappiness.
"Did something happen at sch-"
"Why don't me and daddy have the same name?" There was no time for (Y/n) to finish speaking before Minnie cut her off.
That took (Y/n) by surprise.
She hadn't been expecting this conversation, not for a few years at least. Minnie was only four, things like different last names didn't concern her because she didn't understand about that sort of thing yet.
(Y/n) had always feared Minnie growing up and asking about her biological dad, about why she only had (Y/n). Meeting and subsequently getting into a relationship with Evan had quashed those worries because Minnie took to him instantly. She had been two and a half when Evan came into her life. (Y/n) hoped that as she grew up, she simply wouldn't remember that Evan hadn't always been in her life.
The main worry (Y/n) had about that was Minnie looking through old baby photos and asking why there was no photo of Evan holding her as a baby.
She and Evan hadn't talked about this. They hadn't talked about what they wanted to do regarding telling Minnie things, about whether they wanted to tell her that Evan wasn't her biological dad or whether they just wanted to continue in blissful ignorance and hope she never questioned it.
Drumming her fingertips on the steering wheel, (Y/n) sank her teeth down int her lower lip and tried to think up a good response to that.
"Well… because- because you have my name." Did it truly matter why she didn't share Evan's name? Where was this suddenly coming from?
"Then he's not my daddy." The defiant yet broken tone to Minnie's voice shattered something in (Y/n)'s chest and when she looked over at her daughter and saw she was crying, (Y/n) felt even worse.
Evan was her dad in every way that mattered, in all ways that it counted. So what if they didn't have the same last name? So what if he hadn't been there at the beginning? He had been there for every moment since and he loved her. That was enough. That was what truly mattered.
"Yes he is."
A quiet, heartbroken 'no' fluttered past Minnie's lips as more tears continued to cascade down her face. The sight of Minnie's distress tore something inside of (Y/n) and she pulled over and turned the car off so she could give her daughter her full attention and turn to face her.
"Why are you asking about this, baby? What happened at school today?" There was no anger in (Y/n)'s tone and no hint of annoyance, she wasn't irritated, she was worried.
Minnie seemed to look around the car for something to focus on before she sighed and looked up at (Y/n) with those deep pooling eyes. "Someone said t-that he's not my daddy because I have a different name."
"That's not true. Nana doesn't have your last name, but she's still your nana isn't she?"
"Why don't we have his name?"
"Because me and daddy aren't married baby."
Minnie seemed to contemplate it, but she didn't seem satisfied. This was really bugging her and (Y/n) could see why. Jee had Chimney's last name. Denny had a double barelled last name to combine Hen and Karen's names. A lot of the kids in her class had married parents with the same names. Minnie felt like she was missing out or like something was wrong simply because their situation was a little different.
But she was afraid. She didn't want anyone telling her Evan wasn't her dad because she wanted him to be. She was desperate for him to be her dad because she loved him and he loved her too.
A sigh tumbled past (Y/n)'s lips as she ran her fingers through her hair and tilted her head back as she tried to think.
There was one thing that might just calm Minnie down and reassure her, but it was something that (Y/n) hadn't had the time or the chance to talk to Evan about yet. She had a distinct gut feeling that Evan would want this, that he would be alright with it. And if it was something that would make Minnie feel secure and chase those worries away, then even better.
"What if we make it official, what if- if daddy adopts you?" Then it would be official. Evan would be on her file in the school, they could ring him if there were any emergencies or problems. He would be on her file at the doctors and could take her to appointments. He would be her legal guardian in case anything ever happened to (Y/n).
"What that mean?"
"That means you take daddy's name, and that he's your parent on paper, it would be official. Would you like that?"
As quick as anything, Minnie wiped away the tears from her eyes and sat up straighter in her seat. She began to nod her head frantically and reached her hands across to grab (Y/n)'s hand.
She could have his name. She could be a Buckley too and when she told people that Buckley was her last name, they would know who her dad was. They would know that Evan was her dad and they would have some paper to say it. No one could contest it then or try and ruin everything. It would be legal and on paper.
That sounded better. That sounded perfect.
***
"You're not working this weekend, right?"
A strange smile flooded Evan's face as he tilted his head down to look at (Y/n). He arched a brow down at her while his knuckles began to tap against the headboard out of habit.
He began to glide his free hand along the bare expanse of her shoulders and down the groove of her spine while his other arm stayed locked behind his head, keeping him propped up. The room was cast in darkness, the only source of light being the bleak silver glow coming from the tv that was playing an old movie neither of them were paying any attention to.
"No, why? What'd you have in mind?" He continued to trace his fingers along her spine while (Y/n) rested her chin on the centre of his chest. And her arms loosely draped around his waist so she was lying on top of him.
"It's Fathers day… Minnie has a surprise for you."
(Y/n) felt the way Evan sucked in a deep breath and a curious look flooded his baby blue eyes that never left hers.
They hadn't really celebrated Father's day last year when Minnie was three. She didn't fully understand what it meant and Evan had been on a week of double shifts. Plus, they hadn't long moved in together and (Y/n) didn't want to make Evan feel like things were moving too fast.
But Minnie had latched on to him now and she was calling him her dad and he had taken that role willingly. So every Father's day from now on, they would be celebrating and Minnie would be giving Evan gifts.
"A surprise?" There was a glimmer in Evan's eyes and a smile pulled at his lips. He liked surprises, but he didn't like having to wait for them. He was an impatient person by nature and waiting wasn't something Evan was very good at.
When he ducked forward and stole a kiss from her lips, (Y/n) shifted up slightly so she could cup the side of his face and incline closer. She felt him murmur "I like the sound of that," against her lips and it made her smile.
He was happy. He wasn't angry or unsettled or nervous. He was okay with this. She just hoped he would be okay with the present they had gotten for him.
Anticipation bubbled throughout (Y/n)'s nerves when she heard the unmistakeable sound of Minnie's bedroom door opening. When she heard those little feet bashing against the carpet, undoubtedly racing towards their room, (Y/n) sat up.
She stretched her arms above her head and crossed her legs beneath her on the bed while Evan made a small sound but didn't fully wake up.
She knew Minnie wouldn't stay in bed for very long this morning. The four year old was far too excited to give Evan his presents and spoil him for the day. She was excited to see his reaction.
A yawn escaped (Y/n)'s lips just as the bedroom door flung open and Minnie bounded in. She clambered on the end of the bed and scuttled up until she could flop directly onto Evan's chest, since he had been laid on his back, sleeping soundly.
"Morning daddy!"
Something akin to a cough mixed with a groan spluttered past Evan's lips when he felt Minnie flop harshly onto his chest. His bleary eyes shot open and he gruffly moved his arms until they were encased around her and his hand was cradling the back of her head.
"Hi baby," He mumbled quietly and tilted his head up so he could look at her. It took him a few seconds to blink and work out what was going on, but once he remembered what day it was, a spark of adrenaline coursed through his chest. His surprise. That was why Minnie was so excited, she wanted to give him something.
His hand began to feather up and down her back and he pressed a quick kiss to her temple before he looked to the left. He watched (Y/n) as she got up to open the curtains so they could all see what they were doing, but he was glad when she perched back down on the bed.
She sat cross-legged so she was facing them both and Evan's stomach tightened when he realised she was wearing one of his shirts. He hadn't noticed what she had been wearing when he came home from work last night. He simply crawled into bed and attached himself to her as quickly as he could.
(Y/n) uttered a soft "Morning," as she leaned over and pecked Evan's temple while her hand grazed along his cheek and down his neck.
"I made you something."
Evan wanted to sit up, but it was rather hard when Minnie was laid on top of his chest, effectively pinning him down. And although he could easily push up and move her, he didn't want to just yet.
He stayed lying down against the pillows and began carding his fingers through her slightly knotted hair while she leaned across the bed to find the card she had brought in with her. Once she had the lilac card within her grasp, she turned and waved it in front of him until he reached his free hand out to take it from her.
"Is that me?"
Minnie nodded excitedly when Evan motioned to the drawing on the front of the card. She had drawn him in his work uniform with a large helmet on his head and a fire raging in the background.
He knew the italic writing was (Y/n) where it said Happy Father's Day along the top, but it was Minnie's large block writing along the bottom that said 'my daddy'. There were a few splotches of glitter blobbed around the edges and when he opened it up, he grinned. Minnie had drawn a large blue heart on the inside of the card.
A few years ago, Evan never would have thought he would get to have a family, it always seemed like something he desperately wanted but never quite managed to get for himself. He didn't think he would be laid here now, celebrating his first father's day with the two girls that had stolen his heart for themselves.
(Y/n) gently leaned forward and subtly brushed away the tear that had welled up in the corner of Evan's eye.
"It's beautiful, thank you baby." Evan leaned forward to press a wet kiss to Minnie's cheek which caused her smile to radiate and beam back at him. He already knew that he would be taking this with him to work, this would be going up in his locker so he could see it every day when he came to work.
"You get a present too." The broad smile on Minnie's face made Evan's heart flip as he leaned over to set the card down on the side table.
"Oh I do, what is it?" He grinned curiously and moved both hands to grip her waist so he could move her a little.
He nudged her down while he pushed up so he was finally sitting up. He couldn't concentrate properly when he was laid down like that, he needed to be sitting up and fully alert. He shuffled back until his head was against the headboard and he let Minnie scramble up so she could sit down on his lap. His hands stayed on her waist and his head inclined towards (Y/n) while he looked between them both for one of them to tell him what this surprise present was.
He had been waiting all week for this and he was happy to finally find out what they had gotten him.
An unsettling amount of adrenaline and anticipation bubbled up inside of (Y/n) as she turned and leaned over to rummage around in her bedside drawer where she had safely hidden Evan's present.
She slid the large envelope over to Minnie who then held it out to Evan like it was some kind of otherworldly offering.
Evan arched one brow and his lips quirked up into a grin as he took the envelope from her. She had decorated it well. There were hearts and stars stuck all over the envelope and 'daddy' was written in large blue crayon across the centre.
He couldn't think for the life of him what this present could be. Was it some kind of certificate? Was it some kind of mini break for them all to go on or a trip? Was it a picture of him and Minnie? Possibilities ran through Evan's mind as he stared at the envelope for a few seconds, trying to decide what he was betting it could be.
He couldn't imagine what it would be so he flipped it over and carefully peeled the envelope open.
His brows furrowed and a confused smile pulled at his lips as he reached inside, but he wasn't expecting to find a stack of papers.
What on Earth had they got him?
It took a moment or two for Evan's brain to try and catch up with him but as he scrolled over what he was reading, he couldn't make much sense of it. All of their names were on this document at some point, whatever it was, but he couldn't fathom it out. It was too early in the morning for his brain to be reading jargon like this.
"What is it?" The smile that played on his lips made (Y/n) grin, though she tried to supress it.
She liked how he smiled and that gentle tone to his voice that showed he was trying not to sound ungrateful. He simply didn't know what he had been given and (Y/n) didn't expect him to either. She knew this would come as very out of the blue for him.
Before (Y/n) could answer, Minnie started to giggle and her hands patted against Evan's torso before she became too excited to wait for him to work it out.
"It means you're mine now!" The sheer joy in her voice caught Evan off guard and his wide eyes looked down at her just before she lunged.
Her arms encased around his neck and she bashed forward into his chest, causing him to rattle back against the headboard with a bang. His left arm deadlocked around her waist, securing her against his chest that ached and now felt breathless while his other hand gently shook the papers towards (Y/n) so she would explain for him.
He attached his lips to the top of Minnie's head, smiling despite his confusion while his girl began to giggle and laugh into his neck.
(Y/n) could feel her palms beginning to sweat as she inched closer so she was knelt beside Evan's thigh and she gently reached out to take the papers from him and place them on her pillow so they were out the way. She carefully took his hand, entwining their fingers together while she looked down at the few tattoos on his arm so she didn't overthink this too much and begin to panic.
"It's um, adoption papers, if… if you want to of course."
There. She'd done it. She'd braved the big question. All that was left was to pray that this was really what Evan wanted too. (Y/n) prayed she hadn't read this situation wrong, that Evan wouldn't drag her to one side and say this was too much, too sudden, too overwhelming for him. She knew taking on a child was a big thing and this meant long term commitment.
It meant changes in every way, in every aspect of Evan's life, but (Y/n) was sure that this was something he would be okay with, that this was something he would want.
When she finally lifted her eyes from staring at his arm to look over at him, she was stricken to the spot when she saw tears glistening in his eyes and one or two slithering down his reddened face.
But her jaw dropped and was left gaping when Evan sat forward and squeezed Minnie tighter to his chest. He burrowed his lips and nose into her hair and closed his eyes, breathing her in for a moment as he tried to regulate his system and calm down before he got too excited.
"So you're officially my girl now?" His voice was quiet, but the affirmation in his tone was enough to have tears building up in (Y/n)'s eyes too.
He felt Minnie nodding and squirming against his chest as she burrowed tighter into him while he started to pepper kisses against her hair. And she began to laugh when she heard him mumbling 'my daughter' into her hair.
When Minnie wriggled against his chest and started to squeeze him tighter, (Y/n) noticed Evan wince a little and he adjusted Minnie so she was leaning against the left side of his chest rather than the right.
"Are you okay?" (Y/n) leaned across to kiss his cheek and she perched her chin on his shoulder while her arm slithered around his back. He hadn't said he'd hurt himself on shift yesterday but he looked like something was giving him a bit of pain.
Her chest tightened and she tried to stop herself from smiling when Evan turned his head and caught her in a feverish kiss. It almost felt like he was trying to bruise her lips with how desperately he was leaning into her and the feeling of his teeth nipping at her lower lip made her gasp into his mouth.
When he pulled back, he nodded to her question and looked between both girls.
"I guess it's a good time to show you something I've got for you, little mouse."
"Something for me?" Hope flooded Minnie's voice as she sank back onto Evan's thighs and looked at him with sparkles glittering in her eyes.
(Y/n) looked at Evan with a puzzled expression. Why did he have something for Minnie? This was their day to spoil him, not the other way around. And he didn't exactly have anything around the room that might be for Minnie, so (Y/n) couldn't think what he was referring to.
A bewildered look flooded (Y/n)'s eyes and she smiled despite her confusion when Evan leaned away from her so he could scrunch up the bottom of his shirt in his hands. (Y/n) and Minnie both watched with intrigue and sheer confusion plastered across their faces as Evan tugged off his shirt and tossed it somewhere on the floor.
(Y/n) wasn't sure what he was doing or why he had such a devilish yet somehow insecure smile playing on his lips.
And when Minnie gasped and surged forward, (Y/n) had no idea what had caught her attention.
But then she saw it.
A new tattoo.
On the right side of his chest beneath his collar bone, Evan had Minnie inked in Disney letters on his chest. And above the writing, there was a pair of Minnie Mouse ears and the signature red bow settled between them right above the name.
He'd gotten a tattoo for Minnie. Maybe he hadn't known what they had got him for Father's day, but he sure had some spiked sense of intuition because this fit perfectly with the gift they had gotten him.
Minnie was officially going to be his daughter now. She would take his name, and he had hers tattooed on his chest.

You make your way down the hallway, fingertips skimming the wall as you navigate by the soft streetlight filtering in through the window. You hadn't wanted to turn on any lights, hoping to wake yourself up as little as possible on your midnight trip to the bathroom. You also hadn't wanted to disturb Atsumu, but as you slip back into the bedroom, you realize it wouldn't have mattered.
He's sitting up in bed, turning to look at you as you enter with a frown creasing his brow. "Where'd ya go?" He asks in a low, gruff voice still tinged with sleep. "I woke up 'n you were gone."
You laugh softly, lifting the covers to slide back into the still-warm spot you'd left only minutes ago. "I just had to go to the bathroom," You whisper.
"Mm. 'Kay," He blinks sleepily, settling back down against his pillows as his hand finds its way to your hip, drawing you in closer to him as he hums softly in contentment. This is an Atsumu you rarely get to see - bleary and sleep-warm, vulnerable in a way he'd never admit to in the light of day.
"Sorry," You murmur, fingertips brushing through bleach-blond hair before trailing down to give his bicep a squeeze.
"'S okay." His lips ghost across your forehead, then he tucks your head beneath his chin. "Love you. G'night."
"Good night," You return softly, "I love you too, Tsumu." You curl in just a little closer, content to let his deep, even breaths and the quiet beating of his heart against your ear lull you back to sleep.

It was the calmest he'd ever been, lounging around the cottage with you near, he wasn't much for conversation but he enjoyed asking you questions, how long you'd lived there,
"3 years next month, I bought it a while back after moving here on a whim"
What you did all day,
"Garden and read, lots of painting, even more cooking"
It was all so foreign to him, the idea of living one day at a time, not worrying about the outside world or whether or not your life was in danger, he'd realized quickly that this was the first time he felt safe in years, even with the looming threat of enemies outside and the lack of contact to his team. It did occur to him that if he didn't reach out eventually he would be labelled MIA, but to a man who wasn't even legally alive, the prospect of never seeing his team again didn't worry him a bit, what did worry him was the burning smell from the kitchen.
"What are you doing in here?"
"I was trying a new recipe, it's harder than it looks" You rush to turn off the stove, quickly pulling the pan from the surface and using a towel to waft the smoke.
"I thought you were good at cooking"
"No I said I liked cooking, not that I was any good" You huff while reaching to open the small window above the sink, allowing the fumes to migrate through the opening.
He leans his hands against the table "It doesn't look that bad"
"You're a terrible liar, has anyone ever told you that"
"Most say I've got a great poker face" He tilts his head, you respond with an unamused haha,
He stands to his full height, moving towards you "Let me"
"Let you what"
"Cook, I'll make dinner"
"Anything's better than this" You nudge towards the pan of burnt food, straightening your clothes before allowing him the step to the stove. You turn to sit at the table, watching as he moves around the kitchen with ease, grabbing ingredients from various spots while you point him toward the proper cabinets.
"Where'd you learn to cook?"
"Had to figure out a way to feed myself once I left home"
"They don't feed you at work?"
"They do, but it's mostly inedible, more nutrient based than anything"
"Did your mum cook?"
He doesn't respond for a moment, leaving you to realize the words that come from your mouth, your smile fading quickly, "I'm sorry I forgot"
"S'alright, she um, she didn't often but some Sundays she'd make a roast, best meal I ever ate"
He turns to you, his gaze soft as you smile slightly in response,
"Well let's hope her skills weren't wasted on you"
He laughs lightly, a real laugh before shaking his head and turning his attention back to the stove. You watch as he prepares the food for a few minutes, reaching across the counter to add spices,
"So what are you making?"
"I am making" He stops his sentence, turning off the stove and twisting to face you, "French toast"
"French toast?"
"I said I could cook, not that I know a lot of recipes"
You cover your mouth as you laugh, your eyes creasing at the sides as he places a plate in front of you,
"Well, it smells great"
The two of you dig into the food, your gaze focused on the plate as you allow him the privacy to lift his mask up slightly, revealing his mouth, falling into a comfortable silence as you eat, Simon smiles to himself as you make a small hum of approval,
"You can't be serious"
"What'd I do?"
"That's like a cup of syrup"
"So?"
"You're teeth are going to rot from your head"
"What if they already have"
You scrunch your face at the thought, "At least it'd explain the mask"
"You don't have to turn away you know"
You make a small huh? in response,
"When I pull on my mask, I don't mind you seeing parts of my face"
"I just assumed"
"I know, but you don't have to turn away"
"Okay" Your voice is smaller, intrigue and confusion mixed into it as you nod. “How’s your cut”
“Healing, thanks to you, still tender”
“Can I” You turn your eyes to his, standing from the table to kneel by his side, his breath catches in his throat as you lower your body, your fingers inches from his stomach.
He nods lightly in permission, lifting his shirt for you and settling it on his lower stomach, your fingers pressing gently on the sides of his wound as you inspect it. His eyes stare at your face, holding back a smile as you bite your lip in concentration, you stand, turning behind to grab some new bandages from the cabinet behind you before returning to your position in front of him.
You brace your fingers against his skin, tugging at his bandage,
“Sorry”
“Doesn’t hurt”
You tilt your head to him and he’s watching you, his eyes locked on your face, your cheeks flush slightly under his stare, turning your attention towards his wound as you dress it, pressing the bandage into his skin. You let your fingers linger for a moment, feeling his stomach rise and fall with each breath before you slowly pull away, standing up and nodding.
“That should do”
“Thank you”
“It’s nothing”
“Thank you” He repeats in a lower, softer voice as he lets his shirt fall into place.
"Any idea when your ear thing will work again?"
"You trying to kick me out?"
"No" You widen your eyes at your quick response, "Just, want to make sure there isn't someone at home missing you"
"There isn't"
You mouth a small oh before turning your gaze toward the window, "It's late, you should rest"
"Right"
There's tension between the two of you, neither wants to leave the others company yet at the same time, neither of you will do anything about it.
"I'll see you in the morning" You smile, passing through the kitchen towards your room and closing the door, leaving Simon alone.
He wakes in a blind panic, the sky outside still dark as he blinks his eyes, turning his head towards your door, he can hear you shouting, rustling around and without thinking he enters the room. Your limbs are twisted between the sheets, jolting around as you mumble, he takes a step back as you sit up, your chest heavy.
You clutch your chest at the sight of him, lurking in the doorframe,
"You scared me"
"You were having a nightmare"
"Yeah, they happen sometimes"
It's then that you notice he's not wearing his mask, the room is dark but there's enough light for you to make out the curve of his nose,
He scratches the back of his head, "Okay" turning to leave,
"Simon"
He lazily turns his gaze back to you, responding with a small hmm.
"Will you stay, it's just"
He cuts you off, "Easier to sleep with someone beside you"
"Please"
"Of course"
You watch as he crosses the room, looming beside your bed as you pull the sheets to cover you, feeling the mattress dip under his weight as he settles in. He lays awkwardly on his back, his arms crossed over his stomach, you watch his chest rise and fall, without thinking you slide your palm against it, your fingers light on the fabric of his shirt as you move closer, pressing your chest against his side and resting your head on his shoulder. He snakes an arm around you, letting you nestle against him as his hand settles gently on your arm, his touch feather-light as he tries to keep a consistent heartbeat.
You must've fallen asleep shortly after, waking to the sun streaming into the room, your limbs tangled between his, both of you had turned in your sleep, his chest now pressed against your back as his arms held snugly against your waist. You can feel his steady breath fan across your neck, his face close enough that the tip of his nose grazes your skin, he's so warm, the sheets on the bed long forgotten in your sleep and the heat coming from him is more than enough.
You reach a hand to his arm, tracing over the lines of his tattoo and you feel him tighten his grip, his stable breaths now ragged as he wakes up. It takes him a moment to realize the position he's in, his brain doing little to comprehend the situation.
"Do you have something in your pocket?"
He pulls from you instantly, jolting upwards and turning around as you giggle,
"M'sorry" His voice is groggy, his accent thicker than usual.
"It's fine"
He keeps his gaze away from you, anxiously stretching his limbs before you realize,
"I'm gonna shower, I'll turn away so I don't"
"Thank you"
You can only see the back of his head, his blonde hair that's a mess, the outline of his head as he nods, shaking your thoughts as you move out of the room.
You stare at yourself in the bathroom mirror, hoping that he didn't get a chance to see you that morning either, your hair was everywhere, the skin under your eyes dark from your usual lack of sleep as you strip your pyjamas, turning on the faucet.
You stand in the warm water, letting it wash over you, hoping it would calm your rampant thoughts as you hear Simon moving around behind the door.
You step out of the shower, wrapping your body in a towel and smoothing your hair back before opening the door, the steam wafting from the small room into the house.
“Where’s the kettle?”
“Top left cabinet”
You stand in the doorway, your hands squeezing the water from your hair as you look at him,
“Thanks”
He turns quickly to you and his body freezes, his eyes glued to your practically naked form as you stand, the beads of water dripping from your warm skin.
“Everything okay?”
“Yeah, yep, just making tea”
“Okay, bags are in the lower cupboard”
He nods awkwardly, furrowing your brows at him before turning around, he lets out a heavy breath as you leave, leaning back against the counter as he drops his head back, staring at the ceiling.
“Shit” He mumbles to himself, adjusting his pants feeling them grow tighter as his mind runs circles around the sight of you, replaying the way your fingers traced over his skin, and scent of your hair as he rested his head against yours. He was awake most of the night, listening to you breath, smiling lightly as you mumble about nothing, you were soft, he’d never had soft before always jagged and dark.
His mind snaps back as you call from the other room,
“Are you any good at fixing things?”
“Depends, what needs fixing”
“The shutters outside, they’re falling apart”
“I could give them a look”
You appear in the entry, smiling at him, now clothed with your hair pulled back, he just watches you in awe, the fact that you could look so perfect no matter the circumstances, you could be caked in mud and still make his heart flutter.
The two of you sit for tea and chat about nothing, asking more questions that he dodges while you openly answer everything he had wondering about.
“I think you’re his new favourite”
Simon makes a small huh before you nudge your head toward his feet, the small cat nestling itself against his calf.
“Strange”
“He’s not strange”
“Not him just, I’ve never had a cat do this”
“Well get used to it”
He smiles under his mask, he could get used to this, spending his days with you, cooking and drinking tea, just enjoying each others company around the house.
“The shutters”
You set your cup down, nodding at him, “There’s some tools in the shed outside, not sure what’s left but maybe they’d help”
“I’ll get right on it then”
It was sweltering outside, the sun beaming down without a cloud in the sky as Simon tries to navigate his way around fixing the shutters. You see him through the window, his arms flexing as he unscrews some things and nails in others, you had no idea what he was doing but he looked good.
I’m hot, he must be hot you fan yourself with your hand, pulling the hair from your sweat glistened neck, eyes darting around the kitchen before an idea clicks in your head.
“Beer”
It’s the only word you can manage to think of as your eyes fall on him, somewhere in the last few minutes he’d stripped himself of his shirt, tucking the loose material into the belt of his pants as his sweat dripped down his skin.
“Cheers, love one”
Your throat dries, nodding as you extend a n arm toward him, the cold glass of the drink transferring to his grip as he tips it towards you in thanks, turning around to lift his mask slightly before taking a sip. Your eyes trailing down his muscled form, roaming over every ridge of his stomach before moving back up.
“Must be hot with the mask”
“Get used to it”
You take a few gulps of your own drink, running the glass across your skin in an attempt to cool yourself. He turns his gaze back to you, watching as you let the beverage run across your skin, leaving a trail of drips behind, he can’t tell if you’re teasing him or this is just how you act naturally.
“How’s it looking”
“Great”
“So you’re almost done”
“Huh?” His eyes pull back to yours,
“Are you almost done, it’s getting unbearable out here”
“Yeah, nearly there”
“Great, I’ll be inside”
The rest of the evening was calm, the two of you doing your best to stay cool in the small cottage as the sun set over the horizon, deciding on cooking something that didn’t involve the use of heat, settling on sandwiches for dinner.
“Mind if I shower, I’m covered in sweat”
“Yea of course” Your mind floods with the sight of his bare form, thankful that the hot air masked the flush of your cheeks, “Towels are in the washroom”
He nods, standing from the table to move toward the shower, closing the door behind him before turning it on. You blow out a long breath, bracing your hands against the table before turning your head at the sound of him wincing,
“You alright?” You call
“Yeah, just sore”
“Well hurry up, I’ll check your stitches”
You sit impatiently as he showers, nervously tidying the kitchen as you wait, your chest fluttering as you hear the shower turn off.
“Figured it’s easier if I just put my shirt on later”
He must be doing this on purpose, once again your eyes roam his form, his sweat replaced by dripping water as his freshly cleaned skin draws your attention,
“Sure, easier”
He sits on the couch, leaning back and positioning his arm against the top to allow you a better view to his stitches, to your surprise they’re doing well, no inflammation or bleeding, they look good.
“S’good, should be able to take them out soon”
“Great”
“Might leave a scar”
“Adds to the collection”
You pass your gaze over the skin of his chest, littered with scars, some small and others long, some old and some new.
“I’m fine”
“I know you are”
“It only hurts a little, when it happens”
“And someone did this to you”
“A few people”
“How many is a few?” You stare at him with rounded eyes,
“Nothing you need to worry about”
You soften your gaze, standing from the couch,
“I guess we should sleep now” His eyes follow your movements, he shifts in his spot trying to get comfortable,
“Simon, would you- nevermind”
“What do you need?”
“I felt bad waking you last night and I was thinking maybe, if we slept in the same bed I wouldn’t have any, you know”
“Yeah, I’d like that- you not having nightmares” He fumbles over his last words, trying to keep himself together at the prospect of once again having you close.
“Okay” You walk nervously toward your room, the simple action now feeling foreign as he trails behind you, “I’ll keep the lights off if you want”
He nods, closing the door behind him as you get into the bed, shuffling around a little before finding comfort in your position, you turn to your side but keep your eyes on him as he reaches to tug his mask off, your mind trying to piece together what he might look like behind the sharp lines of his shadowed face.
He sets himself beside you, moving an apprehensive arm under your pillow, making sure you were okay with it. You push back against him, your body perfectly slotting in front of his as his other arm settles around your waist, you hold it with your fingers, your thumb rubbing against the skin as you let out a small hum of satisfaction.
You’re asleep in no time, the warmth of the air combined with the comfort of Simon behind you lulling you into a dream while he stays up, his arms tucked against you, it was the most comfortable he’d been in years, maybe ever and be didn’t dare move, his body freezing everytime you moved a leg against him or squeezed his forearm lightly, they were like subconscious reminders that you wanted him there and it warmed his heart, melting against you as he tucked his nose against the nape of your neck, your hair brushing against his skin.
He wakes to an empty bed and a weight on his chest, opening his heavy eyes to the sight of Goliath,
“Good morning kitty”
He runs a hand across his back, smiling lightly as he purrs against his touch before he jumps off, startled by the sounds from the house. Simon quickly realizes that he’s not wearing a mask, it’s light out, and you’re not there, a small panic setting into his nerves as he stands.
He tugs on his mask and a shirt before leaving the room, pressing his side against the frame as he watches you move around the kitchen, steeping some tea while you clean up.
“Mornin”
You turn around with a wide smile, “Sleep well?” You ask, leaning against the counter,
“Best in years” He’s being honest, something about you was so comfortable, safe, he wanted to stay forever, if this was what life had in store for him then he’d accept it with open arms.
“Good, cause I think I found that wire you needed”
His heart sinks in an instant, “You did?”
“I think so, was tucked back in the drawer”
“Oh, I’ll see if it’s the right one then”
You smile, turning back to the kettle that had begun whistling as Simon panics, it was too soon, he wanted more time, he needed to figure out a way to stay longer, something good that would keep him here at least a few more days.
“The bathrooms got mold in it” It was the best he could come up with, he hated lying to you.
“Huh?” You turn with your brows furrowed,
“The bathroom, noticed it last night, I can’t fix it if you’d like”
“Are you sure, I didn’t see any”
“Easy to miss sometimes, it’s just near the drain, shouldn’t take more than a day to clean up”
“Yeah sure, just let me know what you need”
He nods, fighting back a smile of success behind his mask, excusing himself from your direct line of sight before internally celebrating, before stopping to think to himself,
Now I’ve gotta figure out how to retile a shower.
