A list of equipment in Luis Serra's lab and what he might use them for
My beloved mutual @geddy-leesbian put in a ton of effort and got these incredibly detailed screenshots of Luis's island lab, featured in this post, and I thought I would follow that up by comparing what he uses to what I use in my own lab. This was fun for me to do and I also thought it could be used as a resource for any writers that aren't as familiar with Luis's profession.
(for context if you don't know me, I am a microbiologist, bacterial geneticist if you want to be specific. I'll be earning my PhD hopefully this year, and I have been studying biology for 10 years, and actively working in various labs for 7)
Obviously this is a science fiction video game, so while I may be a scientist, I am still using some level of guesswork! This is just meant to be a fun little thing for my fellow resi nerds.
1. Liquid Nitrogen tank
These are used for flash-freezing biological samples for long-term storage. In the context of Luis’s research, he might flash-freeze plaga cells or dead plaga bodies in order to store them (typically at -80 Celsius) without them decaying or being damaged
2. Microcentrifuge
This is a veryyyyy common piece of equipment. You use them to spin samples so you can collect cells out of suspension. It’s like how they spin blood to separate it from plasma at blood donation centers
3. Light microscope
I’m sure everyone recognizes this one but still wanted to add the picture from my lab because I appreciate how detailed and accurate his equipment is
4. Shaking incubator
Used to grow tubes of cells! They are typically kept at 37C (body temperature) and they shake at like 200rpm to keep oxygen flowing through the culture so they stay healthy. You would do this to grow samples of whatever organism you desired so you could run experiments on it the next day (we call it making overnights or overnight cultures).
5. Maybe an anaerobic chamber?
These are slightly less common pieces of lab equipment so I was surprised to see it! We have one in our lab because we do some work on gut-dwelling bacteria that have to be grown without oxygen. As you can see, ours looks a little different so it might have some different uses, but generally the little cube on the right side is where you would place a sample (it’s an airlock) and then transfer it into the chamber. Seeing as Luis has it, I’m thinking maybe las plagas might need to be grown anaerobically at certain stages, I’d guess in early life when it’s really dependent on being in the human body.
I've got some other pictures to compare that I'll also be posting about in the coming days, about things like chemical management plus some other weird equipment things Luis has, but in the meantime if you have specific questions feel free to DM me! I hope this is helpful!

I was watching some RE4 playtroughs and ended up writing such a long comment about the og and the remake (as the player asked for the watchers' opinions) that I figured I could as well share it here too.
I came to this game (the remake) completely blind. It was the first Resi game I’ve either seen or played, and I love it to pieces. Now, don’t get me wrong, the original is an amazing game and I do get what you and some others mean when you say the remake doesn’t have its charm or soul. The funny thing is… even though I love the og for that charm, at the same time I prefer the remake just because it’s not like that. Does that even make sense? ^^;;
The original game is so fun. I think I was constantly grinning, watching it. The remake takes things more seriously (while keeping some of the goofiness), and ultimately, I do prefer that. It’s just my opinion, of course, but to me it kinda fits better the rest of the Resident Evil universe… the Leon of the remake is definitely the same person who went through all the shit of RE2. The og Leon feels at times a bit too untraumatized and trusting to me. Like, people complain that the remake Leon is rude to Luis when they meet. I wouldn’t say so… he’s just being extremely cautious. Why would he trust this complete stranger, right away? Just because they seem to have a common enemy doesn’t mean they’re on the same side. (He learned his lesson in RE2 with Ada…)
And the thing is, more often than not when people complain about something in the remake, my reaction is, well, yes… but this makes more sense to me. Like for example Saddler not running all around the place doing stuff in person. Why would he, when he has all his henchmen and literal mind slaves? Maybe he could have appeared a bit more during the game, but those short snippets we get of him in the visions were enough for me when I first time went through the game. The one thing where I do agree the remake could be improved is if they added those boss transformations in the cutscenes (but even that was something I’m thinking of only after other people have mentioned it. Having no expectations, I had no disappointments either, and Mendez was plenty terrifying for me as it was XD)
As for the characters, I prefer possibly all of them in the remake. Definitely Luis. I genuinely do not like him in the og… that ballistic comment dropped him very low in my eyes (that’s how you greet a girl you meet for the first time?) and he didn’t have enough screentime to fix things later. Let me tell you, revenging him would not have been high on my to-do list. As he’s around so much more in the remake he really becomes a character to care about, and the dlc just adds to that. And Ashley too… I would like her way more in the og if she was 5 years younger but for a 20-y-o college student she has some moments that are just kind of ugh. (“I’m fine, leave me alone!” For real, girl?) She also has more development in the remake and can even be useful at times.
But yes, overall, I do love both games, for different reasons. And it might just be my opinion (as I prefer the remake, and maybe those who prefer the og don’t agree) but I think it’d be a bit sad if a remake completely replaced the original. Now we’ve got two games that are both great and have such a different take on the same story, and people can play either they want to, or both. (I’m tempted to play the og too, really, I’m just scared of how bad I’d suck with the controls XD)

5 comfort characters, 5 tags
Woooo boy, that's gonna be a fun mix
Nikolai Zinoviev (RE3) Lol well, Nikolai isn't the first mcfker I'm messing with. But I think it started with Resi when I began to support human wrongs xD Before it was like "ok look, here is a bad person, but hey, they also can be nice, look at them doing [something nice]", and now it's "look at this stinky fella, they do their stinky stuff and ARE GLORIOUS meanwhile" lol. Nikolai is a bitch and I take it with no "buts". He became my allegory for selfcare and idk, helped to focus on my own wellbeing while the world is fking itself. (kinda unexpected side-effect haha) I would also lie if I told ya nationality doesn't matter. But it wasn't kind of 'haha, look it's a Russian blorbo', more like "look, here is a Russian in America who is bad, but not for sake of 'motherrrr Russia', and he actually seems to be giving zero fucks". I too want to be somewhere else and give zero fucks. Nikolai, have you chai!
Khadgar (WoW) Khadgar is a good guy and a very comfy grandpa and magic nerd. I just love everything about him, and for me it became a "even good guyz have a bad moments" char. Everything he went through, and how he keeps holding in every situation is hella inspiring. I would trust him my own life. And he deserves a good rest from all the shit!!!
Diona (Genshin Impact) Well I haven't played GI in 1,5 years, but when I did, Diona was my pure joy. She is adorable and hella relateable char. I love her animalistic traits, her personality and the story around her. Whenever I played her, it felt like a curious childish game where you explore&collect things, also mixed with feeling of being on a hunt.
Sam 'Serious' Stone (Serious Sam franchise) You can tell Sam isn't this much of a deep char belonging to a niche shooting game. For me he is more related to nice childhood memories, but through the years, he is just a fun dude who does timetravelling, kills aliens and sparks jokes. Just a fella to have rest with.
Bilby (OC/sona) (well, it wasn't said chars should be of a certian franchise) Bilby is how I mostly feel myself. A creature, a critter. Bilby is a comfortable image for me to process my feelings, to tell a story or just to interact with things - both real and imaginary. Most artists have some kind of sona, and mine is very special to me, a way to go for adventure whenever I want. Granada Homes Season 2 thoughts
(again, straight from the notepad app)
--
1. COPP (7 aug)
Well i didn't recognise the title at first bc i read the story in Romanian and the translation was. Different than i would've expected. But yeah. I think i said "oh i did read this" three or four times.
The guy was... creepy. And i did not enjoy the telling-funny-stories bit. I'm usually not impressed with "and this is the ending of a very funny story!" *Everybody laughs* bits in tv shows/movies, i can only remember one time** where this sort of thing made me laugh. But... Yeah. Were we supposed to find him funny then? Miss Hunter did. Anyway, it just seemed extra creepy to me.
I think my favourite part was Holmes talking about the dangers of remote rural areas. I mean. He's right.
**The pool story from Doctor Who S4Ep10 Midnight. Here it is, 1:02
2. GREE (8 aug)
Watson being shocked that Holmes has a brother:))
The quiet bit in the club was actually a bit creepy. Unsettling at least.
Also i think Watson was trying to guess which one was Mycroft.
Was that one child tripping unscripted? Seemed so.
I loved the train scenes. Oh and i loved the scene where that guy falls out and Holmes has too phisically hold back both Sophia and Watson. Poor Watson seemed genuinely horrified even tho the guy was a murderer.
Bonus:
Me: Look!! They're holding hands!!
Roommate: Uh. A man just died?
Me: And? :D
3. NORW (9 aug)
Oo i enjoyed this one.
I had no idea what was gonna happen, did not read the original story.
Obviously the premise was pretty cool, i kinda called that he faked his death to blame the boy but still.
I love seeing Holmes in disguise.
Also, the part with Watson coaxing him to eat something?? Bro when i tell you i teared up. He was so gentle with him. *Massive sigh* I love them sm...
Also when Holmes motioned for that housekeeper to go away? He almost killed both of us in one go- i choked on air, my roommate choked on her drink. He's so drmatic, he's a danger to society (affectionate)
Also both me and my roommate wanted to kick Lestrade in the face at some point.
Yeah
4. RESI (10 aug)
"What in the magnus archives is going on?"
Twas a nightmare.
I liked this episode. Fun fact: i am currently midway thru this story in the books. So. Pretty cool. Yea.
Man i was so proud of Watson for deducing stuff about Holmes and then Holmes was like nahh actually you're very wrong
(I did guess he was tapping to a song tho, it was pretty obvious)
...i must say. The... Vocabulary in this episode. ...interesting. 👀
Does Holmes really not know where he keeps his papers?
Poor Mrs Hudson tho :((
I actually saw that *enters the room* *screams* scene a couple years ago, but i didn't know what adaptation it was from.
5. REDH (11 aug)
Mhmmmmmhmhm i dont like thissssssss
I know this story very well and i did not. Expect Moriarty.
I mean it makes sense bc the next one is the final problem (mmmmm😞😞) but i didn't quite put two and two together
[Also i kinda expected them to be lazier and just introduce him at the beginning of FINA]
Umm but yeah about the episode. As i said, i knew the story, one of my favourites since i was a child.
I really loved Watson this episode. He gets to explain Holmes' deductions again. Oh and the part where he was trying not to laugh while the client talked about the letter A.
I guess both him and Holmes lost it at "artificial kneecaps"
Yet another episode where someone doubts Holmes' abilities. (Tho this one was slightly less annoying about it)
"Amateur"
Hm
At least Watson jumped to correct him
Oh and i think my brain had an error at the end when Holmes lights Watson's cigarette while speaking french. Like i had subtitles but i have no idea what he said.
Roommate didn't catch it either ("for the best, i choose to believe he was telling Watson he loves him:))" )
Also: Holmes at the concert looked like a cat. A very pleased cat
Also also: If i ever jump over a couch to get someone to stay with me and it's not a life-or-death situation, consider me absolutely smitten.
But.. yk.. that's just me 🤷
6. FINA (11 aug)
Well it certainly got my heart pounding
The first five minutes or so were actually the worst i think
I mean to say, he looked more in control of himself at the end than in those first 5 minutes. Like i legit almost started crying seeing him scramble for his life like that. Horrible
Mrs Hudson wanting to celebrate...... Stop..
Did NOT enjoy looking at Watson through that sniper's lens. (+ I had Bbc Sherlock flashbacks)
Honestly about the whole middle part.. i don't know what i can say that has not been said. Them in the dark, with only a candle, the "will you come with me" part, Watson rushing to the train and looking so worried bc he wasn't seeing Holmes
*Sigh*
And the fuckin letter. The fact that Holmes knew it had to be a trick but he didn't wanna give it away so he just. Waved him off so hurriedly.
Yea yea run along we'll meet up in a bit I'm not even gonna look at you go that's how normal this goodbye is (I'm probably never gonna see you again)
Oh and the way he rushed back when it clicked.
That's probably the first time in ~a week they were apart. And the one time he leaves him on his own...
Yeaaaah
The fight was silly. And kinda. Anticlimactic. I mean at least make Moriarty have a gun.
(He'd allow Holmes to write the letter while holding him at gunpoint. The letter is done. He approaches to execute him. Holmes lunges at him to get the gun. They struggle. The gun falls, so now they're just beating each other up. Aaand then they fall.)
But. Yeah. Poor Watson. It was a very restrained reaction but still. It was so sad to see him cry.
Oh and as if that was not enough, Watson's "this is the last time I'm telling you a story about Holmes" bit was double damage bc.. yeah. This is the last time we see this guy talk about Sherlock. This guy being the actor but still.
(Ngl it reminded me of the Doctor Who regeneration scenes)

Fic stats game!
Rules: give us the links to your fic with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the fewest words.
Tagged by @leonisdumbasallhell :))
1. Fic with the most hits is my singular genshin fic Oxymoron that I wrote a couple years ago-- almost 6,000 hits!! Still blows my mind whenever I think about it. In terms of Resi, though (which I think I'll stick to) Ripping at the Seams is the biggest!
2. Second most kudos goes to Day 18: Ache, which is just a little whumpmas in July fic where Leon gets a concussion that apparently got popular. Also acknowledging here @leonisdumbasallhell 's comic about it, which I go crazy over every time I think about it!! <33
3. Third most comments is do you believe you're missing out? that everything good is happening somewhere else which is, of course, my 'Leon Dies' fic 💔 it's mostly people screaming and crying at me, but I can't say I don't grin gleefully when one pops up in my inbox hehe
4. Fourth (why is it fourth but not forth but forty but not fourty. Stupid english.) most bookmarks goes toooooooo.... *metal pipe sound effect* Glad you're all enjoying me smashing Leon's head into a bar a couple times :))
5. Fifth most words is my black sheep, the Serra dossier, which is. The subject of some contention. It might be more than that but I'm considering abandoning it, even though I did have fun when I originally came up with it! I wrote it before a lot of lore was kind of revealed and talked about and some of it doesn't exactly align with canon anymore and idk. It's an experiment, and maybe a failed one!
6. And last but not least (well, yeah, actually, it is the least...) with the fewest words is Interlude with a silly little 841!!
I also kinda forgot about some of these loll. I have no idea who to tag that hasn't been tagged already agh but if you want to participate, DO IT!!!!

/leans in and taps the mic/ i would love to hear what you think might have happened storywise and onward had luis survived in resi4 instead of the fate he has in the game. would he continued to work towards atoning for his sins or even a happy ending to his own story? i have a feeling you have a lot of thoughts on the matter.
This question took me a while to get to simply because I have so many different thoughts and possibilities for what could have come postgame for Luis. Some of these of course will be the basic what Capcom would have done versus fun things in terms of AU's I would enjoy to explore. So forgive me for all the rambling I’m about to do.
In terms of gameplay and story wise, I feel like if by some means where was a way of keeping him alive, realistically Capcom would have pulled what they do with any side companions in these kind of games. Like Sheva, or Carlos for instance, that stereotypical thing the company does. Maybe he got what he wanted, in a perfect world he somehow got to drop off the radar. If we kind of follow the end game post credit scene with Ada having that discussion with Wesker, she changes course with the amber and what would be Luis. Maybe she keeps their side of the deal, maybe she just drops him off somewhere and says see ya, giving him a chance to get away from that life. Because I have no doubt in my mind if she went back to Wesker there would be no way in hell they’d just let him go.
The more they’ve elaborated and changed Luis’ lore it’s very clear he is a powerful, knowledgeable person. We all know by now he worked for Umbrella, helped create Nemesis, assisted Saddler in the study of Las Plagas, after the incident in Raccoon City he was literally being hunted by the government to be taken in as a bioterrorist. He is very educated on the genetic research and modification of Plaga, capable of injecting and removing it from the host, etc. So a man who can make Nemesis, El Gigante, Regenerators- you name it- I don’t see Wesker as someone who would just let him walk. Be it by force or offer, I don’t think Luis could ever fully run from his past and get off scot free. By this point in the timeline it’s established that Wesker is working alongside Excella, who as we all know is the CEO of Tricell and the chief of bioweapons development. And you know who would work very well with her? Luis. This is where I can go into a whole alternate universe bad timeline for Luis where he ends up being a part of the plot of Resi 5, even if it’s against his will. This man knows so much about Plaga research he could have been recruited into their B.O.W. trade ring with Ricardo, a man who is capable of creating all these horrendous monsters that get shipped out around the world. He could have easily been a hand in the Uroboros Project, even met Jill and been forced by Wesker to create her chest device, she also has the T-virus in her which makes for interesting research- would he feel good about any of this- no, but if he had no other choice he’d do what he had to in order to survive and find means of escape all over again. Anyway we all know what happens in 5 and that’s a rant for another time so I’ll backtrack to other possibilities.
There are lighter happier endings that are so far fetched but I feel like I want to include them anyway because it’s what he deserves. If he was wounded, or didn’t give the sample over to Ada and escape with her I imagine if he wasn’t critically wounded, there’s that chance that he’d be able to escape with Leon and Ashley. Things are about to get real cozy on that jet ski but they make it work. There’s the ‘yay he got to escape with his friends’ factor, but in all reality if Leon didn’t drop him off somewhere before they were picked up from the extraction point he’d be sent back to America with him. Realistically, he’d be taken in by the government since he’s a wanted man. They wouldn’t let him go after being on a hunt for so long. And with Leon’s reports on what happened during his mission, they’d probably just lock him up and we’d never see him again.
However this is where fun little AU’s come into play for me so while you’re still reading this bear with me. Leon makes some deal with the government, in some magical world they listen to him and take his word. Luis once recovered, being forced to become some kind of field agent and get training. He’s the brains, Leon is the brawn, whenever Leon is sent out on a mission he takes Luis with him. He can clearly hold his own, even more so with training, and encountering any sort of B.O.W’s he’d be able to take samples there on the field and give direct feedback to whatever HQ. Would be a fun little thing to consider, he and Leon still get to see Ashley from time to time, he lives a life on a ball and chain but at least he’s not dead or in a jail cell for life.
I’ll stop here for now but as you can see I have many different thoughts, possibilities, and AU’s to cater and cope with the fact that he’s dead. In a perfect world he’d be able to run off and live his quiet life, but we just know that in this universe no one is ever truly able to have a happy ending. Thanks for the question!!

anyway. followup. rank the resi games from ur faves (for whatever reason, could be story, the characters, the game making u want to curl up in a ball and cry, ur metric is whatever u want it to be) to ur least faves..... i've never played any of them and only have minor knowledge of a few so like. im fascinated.
I'm soooooo biased anyway
1. Resident Evil 4 - my introduction to the series, which was good bc i was such a scaredy-cat as a kid, the whole "let's make it less survival and more action" was nice. Playing RE2make, i missed the freedom of being allowed to "clean up" an area. I love RE4 i love RE4 Leon, my first fictional crush, i love Ashley, i love Luis, i love the putas, and i love the lake monster named Lake from the lake named Lake. Mwah. Chef's kiss. Perfect game, in my esteemed opinion. The remake should have given us even gorier death scenes instead of cleaner, but I appreciate the fact that they made Luis and Leon's dynamic (even) gayer. So many iconic lines, I don't even know which one to quote. I didn't know your right hand is going to bingo.
2. Resident Evil 1 (this is actually n1 spot but RE4 is there bc you gave me that freedom). Like. I mean. Listen. We gotta respect our elders. And RE1 fucks so hard. She was the blueprint for everything. The dog corridor. The mansion level of all mansion levels. Jill sandwich. What more could you want from a video game. There is multiple endings though and I forgot how they went about that, but I assume there's a "true" ending for the lore. Also in 2002 they remastered it and put Jill on the cover of their "you can choose to play as a girl or a boy" game that revolutionised gaming and media in general? And some companies in 2018 acted as nobody wants to buy a game where the girl protag is the one primarily marketed and/or where you play as a girl. Looks at ubisoft.
3. Resident Evil 2. This might be bias, but it might not be. Because RE3 is more action-y and while I did say I appreciated that as a kid in RE4, i feel like it worked in RE4, but not so much in 3? I think i'm biased. Anyway RE2 was cool because heellooooooo Mr X? Iconic. The soundtrack? Divine. The way you had A and B sides ?!?!?!?!? Four different scenarios because depending on who you chose in A, you'd have a totally different story????? Iconic. 10/10 in my esteemed opinion. I love Resident Evil 2. Can Claire and Leon please just ba----
4. Code Veronica. I still have no idea what the fuck happened in this game. 8/10 at this point I went "what the hell is this lore" (/pos). Like i'm trying to come up with an example to give you but i can't. Love the gothic setting tho
5. Resident Evil 3. Lipbite. Clockwork level. Nemesis.
Horror game girl swag. I dunno, I don't have much to say. She was iconic, but by this point we're in "i'm not exactly a shooter for these games" territory.
Now. Much as I love RE4 it definitely was a sign of things to come. Scratches the back of my neck. I kinda don't care for RE5 and 6. I know Chris punches a boulder in one of them. I do appreciate that they turned it back to survival horror with 7 and Village, buuuut. They lost me. As I said, I don't care for the lore that much, it spans too long, there's a lotta new characters (and I'm not one for "legacy" characters anyway, ik you can only do so much with the originals, but :( i just prefer the smaller cast and our classics. But i get that Capcom wants to have the games set in the years they're releasing, so they kinda haaave to, but </3). 7 and Village definitely were cool, but they somehow felt~~~ a bit less Resident Evil-ly... if that makes sense. 7 was great, but Village's bosses... I dunno. I wasn't much of a fan of how it fit into the sci-fi world of RE.
Listen. I think RE was best when it had the static camera and the horrible dread and when it made you wonder if you should shoot or not. The camera in the original was good because it was part of the horror. No you may NOT have the freedom to see what's around you. Fuck you. The first person in 7 and Village are actually fine for it but😢 i'm a grandma as it goes. RE0 also sounds super cool, but I haven't played it nor seen anyone play it. Will have to get on that tbh

what would u like to see for the next resy game? as in the next installment, not the next remake if they're making another remake haha. but yeah, characters? enemy types? setting?
lol I am hoping they're done with the remake train because if they seriously are thinking of remaking 5, 6 and 7 next I'm... yeah no.
it depends! if it's gonna be a new "main game" and takes place after re8, then I don't really know what I'd want. it'd be awesome to see an older Leon, maybe working together with Chris, and it'd be lovely to see Jill and Claire and the old bunch again. but I'm also very, very bummed that they just forgot all about Jake tbh. so I think I'd be most tempted by a "Jake edition". it's been over ten years. where is he now? what is he doing now? it would've been so interesting to see more of him! in re6 he already briefly struggles with who his father is, and if it defines him as a person too, and they could've done so much with that imo. so I'd absolutely love to see what's up with him now. and Sherry, tbh. but I am also always a sucker for more Leon obviously :'D
if it'd be a new Revelations-type game, then I'd want something that's set between 2010-2012! give me more Piers! I don't even care what, I just want more Piers :'D and of course if I can set my hopes super duper high (because absolutely none of my wishes will ever actually happen lmao) I'd love to have something where Leon has to work with the BSAA so we'd get some proper canon interaction between my two absolute favorites. it'd be a dream come true honestly. I could die happy :'D
also, it'd be cool to see what's up with Jill at that time because it's in her vague "rehabilitation" period that has only just been handwaved away, so. she might not be cleared onto the field but she could be somehow a part of it anyway.
i'm very, very character focused okay :'D my wishes are always to see more of my faves lol.
as for enemy types, lickers have always been my favorites so I'd like to see them again! and honestly, those ogroman-things in re6 were the most fun ever to fight, so something similar? idk I love the classics. I'd like to see a mixture of the old creatures and something new, to keep things interesting and fun.
as for settings, I don't really know. I ... am not picky? :'D I do love the re4 type of creepy village setting a lot, and the castle too tbh, and i enjoyed the mansion setting in re1 a lot too. there's something so creepy and wonderful about a place that was the home for someone but then things went spectacularly wrong. so i'd prefer something like that to a clinical laboratory type of thing, for example. but i haven't thought about this a lot so I honestly don't have a ready answer now :'D

20 Questions for Fic Authors
Thank you @resident-rats for tagging me!!
1. How many works do you have?
14!
2. What is your Ao3 word count?
85,507 (crazy bc I just started writing in November)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I started out with Jujutsu Kaisen, have done a little One Piece and one Castlevania, and now it's alllll Resident Evil
4. What are your top 5 fics by Kudos?
So all 5 are non-resi (just gigantic fandoms I was writing for) so instead of listing those I'll say my top fic by kudos is a JJK fic called Cancelled Plans (satosugu) and then my top RE fics are:
Getting ******** Instead of going to Therapy (would you believe this was my first Serennedy fic ever.... I'm sorry)
Haunted
The Science of a Soulmate
when you hold me, it holds me together
5. Do you respond to comments?
yes absolutely I LOVE comments and I love screaming about my fics with people who comment`
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh god I had a pretty angsty one hidden somewhere in my GeGo week stuff
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
uhhh the itafushi college au fic I wrote a while back, stick your tongue down my throat
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven't, no!
9. Do you write smut? If so, which kind?
For sure, not as much recently (although I have posted a couple of things anon........) but I have a couple of smut drafts rn. I love writing stuff where the two partners are exploring new things about themselves, but I've experimented with all kinds.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest crossover you’ve ever written?
Haven't tried that!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nah my works not good enough for theft
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No but one (kind of?) in the works. Like early early conceptual stage tho
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Well only two ships have rotted my brain enough to do things like make a whole ass Tumblr account and start writing fanfic in the first place so I'll give that award to satosugu and serennedy
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Honestly? If I'm not going to have the energy to finish something I scrap it early on, so I don't have any of those yet.
16. What are your writing strengths?
NO IDEA. uhhhhhhhhhhhhh maybe atmosphere? I really don't know. I'm not trying to be self-deprecating I just don't think I have anything that qualifies as a strength, really.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
commas. and getting impatient, I could pace things slower sometimes.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I would be able to do it in Italian but I'm too self-conscious to try it for any other language
19. First fandom you wrote for?
JJK but I've since abandoned them bc season 2 was not that good and the fandom is Terrifying
20. Favourite fic you’ve written
Haunted is FOR SURE my favorite child. I doubt I'll outdo that one for a long time.

19th's Steam Next Fest Impressions Oct 2024 Edition - Day 7
Day 1/Day 2/Day 3/Day 4/Day 5/Day 6
Today's the last day, but I may spend some time tomorrow checking out a couple demos that aren't taken down. Or not. Turns out doing 38 demos in 7 days is kinda exhausting. Anyways...
Threefold Recital
youtube
This may be the best game I've played this Next Fest.
First thing that charmed me was music. The game was using what felt like a track fit for an exciting emotional climax during the simple tutorial, and as the game went on, it kept that quality consistent.
Second was the lore and setting. Like the recent Nine Sols, it's mixing Chinese mythology with sci-fi in a really interesting way, even if this game is more directly mystical.
I even like the appropriately mythic sounding lore reason for furry characters. "In the distant past two hermits, an enlightened bhudhist monk and daoist priest, lived side by side, and would spend their time having vigorous debates. The nearby animals would listen in, and through osmosis grew enlightened enough to take human shape." It feels more thought out than just "for reasons of because."
Gameplay started a bit disappointing. The beginning was just a puzzle platformer, where you swapped between three characters that had different abilities. It felt less like solving puzzles and more just following directions. Use X character in Y slot. But that was just the prologue.
Once it moved to chapter 1 the game turned on its head. You played as only the wolf monk, who has the ability to "see lines of karma." On one hand he's basically Tsukihime Shiki, where if he cuts the lines of karma things break. On the other hand it also makes him basically a detective, instinctively seeing how people and objects relate to each other. And the game suddenly shifts to escaping a false charge and solving a robbery case.
It even has horrible ace attorney pun names. The case involves the To family, and the two brothers:
Toma To and Pota To.
Main complaints are technical. For some reason the edges of the screen were cut off, while items were sometimes hidden in those edges. Speech bubbles were also consistently misaligned.
Karate Survivor
youtube
Jackie Chan Vampire Survivor.
No Bones about this. This is better than the genre originator. Better than a lot of what I've played in this space.
Part of the appeal of Vampire Survivors is also part of its core design problem. At the start, you need to keep aim and spacing in mind, but after a certain point, you get enough firepower that you don't need to worry about it.
Here's not the case. You never stop worrying about spacing and enemy positioning. Because Its all melee weapon and hand to hand, you always need to keep people close to you to keep up your DPS.
Your upgrades include different moves that aim in different directions. If I put back to back a front kick and a downward crescent kick, I need to micro-position myself so both moves connect. In other words, I'm playin footsies!!! It's got real hitbox beat-em up energy!
My main issue is that the game puts things that should be part of the core kit as unlocks. Why do I need to throw X number of items to be able to kick small environmental hazards. Why do I need to do enough kicks to roll over tables?
Fear The Timeloop
youtube
Not Sure How To Feel About This One!
Resi 2 remake style over-the-shoulder survival horror. You play as a cop on the chase of a serial killer. You end up in a long abandoned hospital, and find yourself locked in a 15 minute time loop.
There's some interesting ideas here! Adding a strict time limit on roundabout survival horror mapping adds another layer of tension. The game also uses a limited save system, and says both that the saving may change the layout of the hospital and make enemies stronger, active disincentivizing.
the main problem is…I completed the demo in one loop. Partially due to the timer not ticking in menus and partially due to an item that gives you extra time.
I legitimately do not know how the titular time looping actually effects the game.
They never put the shifting map or harder enemies into practice. I only ran into one enemy.
The protag has no reason to suspect monsters at that point. So he just yells at this guy to freeze, unloads, and then says "GODDAMNIT WHY DIDN'T HE FREEZE"
Accurate.
voice acting is kind of all over the place. Protag is… servicable. There's a woman's voice in the hospital who… inserts a silly accent halfway through her speech. And your radio contact is just flat affect.
The accent woman might be a demon so her not showing any sense of tension about this whole situation is probably on purpose.
Morgan: Metal Detective
youtube
A girl goes out to her grandpa's small town after he dies, to attend the funeral and help clear out his house. While there, she is given his old metal detector. Thus starts a relaxing adventure about reuniting people with lost things and reviving a dying town.
Presentation felt weird but that might be because of my monitor. Another demo that, when told to go to superwide, ends up putting stuff offscreen. had to mess with the resolution and may have have squashed things.
The core gameplay of metal detecting seems… fine. It didn't really go deep. A lot of the map was blocked off and the demo had only one real quest. There was plenty of side junk to find though, and I can see this being relaxing.
The voice actors have a peppa-pig-ish "incredibly low energy british childrens show" delivery that makes me wonder if children are the primary demographic for this. I guess it works if so.
ReSetna
youtube
Scifi metroidvania set in a post-human world, inhabited by robots and ruled by the APEX AI system. Said world is falling into ruin because of a mysterious signal that turns 80% of robots hearing it mindlessly violent. You were created to find and destroy it.
I'm gonna be honest. Right now this is sauceless.
Lore wise we get nothing but "there are robots and things are fucked." not much of a sense of specificity so far.
Gameplay wise everything is functional but lacks juice. Compared to the gold standard of nine sols, the parry and dodge in this game feel… limp. Same with the hits.
The demo only had one upgrade and it wasn't gotten by beating a boss. you just go to a corner of the map and find it on the floor. At the end of the demo you fight a boss with a health bar twice as long as it should be and get nothing out of it.
Travel On, Pigeon!
youtube
Tyrhm game about a pigeon going out to see the world, a world that operates on Billie Jean rules.
The world is a grid, you move on the beat. Explore the level, find the souveneirs, and avoid the humans making their way downtown. It's as if crypt of the necrodancer was not a roguelite but something more simple and pac-man feeling.
It feels like it's on the edge of good but not there yet. But it might be my fault. The game asks you to calibrate it at the start, tapping on the beat. When things started to get desynched I couldn't tell if it was the fault of me losing the beat, or a fault of me poorly calibrating. recalibrating made things more confusing.
In other words, it needs a beat visualizer.
It feels like the game really came alive when it introduced spaces where you're supposed to tap on half notes, but it made the lack of the beat visualizer even more apparent.

Voted Best Gym Hesperia
Best Available Hesperia Residents Gym Fitness Option
youtube
I've tried a lot of gyms. I'm not going to post names, but let's just tell the best one is not that place you go gone your pal that costs $10 a month and has weight machines in the basement of a storefront. The best gym is one where you feel courteous talking to the staff, who will reply every your questions and back you get going upon your fitness goals. Where you can't wait to go back because there are fittingly many good classes and fittingly much equipment and you're always learning new things. The best gym is one where they have instagrammable chalk-art frescoes featuring inspirational slogans gone "Sweat the small stuff" painted upon the walls, and the locker room is stocked gone acceptable free toiletries to last a lifetime. The best gym is the one that you'll actually go to. It's as simple as that. Most people who tell they desire to get in shape, but not acceptable to actually set foot in a gym, will consent gone me gone I tell it's worth the new effort. Here are some ways to find the best gym for you: -Find out which gyms are in your place and look them going on online. Research what each of them offers and look going on reviews upon Yelp or Google. -Ask around. Friends, family, and coworkers are often more than happy to ration their favorite gym gone you. -Look at the hours of operation for each gym to look which ones fit your schedule best.
Best Hesperia Residents GYM
I wanted to save this section short, as I feel gone most people already have a good idea of how to be healthy. Eating well, exercising, not smokingwe every know how it goes. But for anyone who needs some purpose to attain these things, here's some advice upon how to get started upon a healthier lifestyle. The first event you infatuation is a goal. What attain you want? Is it weight loss? More energy? Or most likely you desire to just be happier in your own skin? whatever it is, deem what you want, and next figure out how to get there. If you're bothersome to lose weight, most likely start gone a food diary and feel going on an exercise routine. If you just desire energy, most likely meditation would be a good place to start. gone you have a plan and start taking produce a result towards your goal, it's important not to let yourself fall into the trap of self-blame or meet the expense of going on gone things don't go according to plan. Even if you think that dieting isn't operational because you ate too many cookies this weekend (which happens), don't beat yourself going on just about it - just save trying! gone acceptable become old and practice, your efforts will pay off and you'll get to where you desire to be. And A healthy lifestyle is more than just eating the right foods and getting acceptable sleep; it's just about making healthy choices in whatever you do. though the most common examples of this are combined to inborn healthexercise, diet, etc.it actually applies to every aspect of your life, from how you handle your finances to how you preserve interaction gone associates and family to how you educate yourself.
5 Star 24 Hour GYM Availale For Hesperia California Residents
I've always been a devotee of fitness classes. They're a good artifice to make associates and get moving at the thesame time. But gone I was picking out my fitness class options, there was no artifice to tell which classes were best. I had no idea whether a yoga class would be too difficult, or if a martial arts class would be too intimidating. I needed information. So I went and found it! I interviewed experts in the pitch and surveyed dozens of members at my local gym. And next I wrote going on my findings in this article: "The Best Fitness Classes: What's Worth Your become old and Which Are Just a Waste." gone this article, you'll find out whatever you infatuation to know just about finding the best fitness class for you! I've tried a lot of fitness classes in my time, and I'm not scared to resign yourself to that classes can be, to put it bluntly, truly crappy. A lot of them are conducted in services that don't have good ventilate flow, which is a recipe for a stinky workout, and they're filled gone instructors who don't seem too concerned gone whether we're getting the most out of the class or just there to get us through our dues to some kind of club membership. But there are some truly good fitness classes out thereclasses that make you feel good after you're done; classes where you can tell the instructors are invested in your experience; classes where your fellow participants are kind and supportive; classes whose publicize makes it feel gone a party otherwise of an obligation. And now that I've found these classes, I desire to move ahead the word just about them because I adore them fittingly much. https://votedbestgymhesperia.blogspot.com/2024/06/voted-best-gym-hesperia.html Top Gym Hesperia https://www.tumblr.com/ernestbusinessplaces/753137391842263040 https://carrepaircostvista.blogspot.com/2024/06/tumbling-gymnastics-classes-near-me-bel.html https://redondobeachpersianrugrestora832.blogspot.com/ https://redondobeachpersianrugrestora832.blogspot.com/2024/06/redondo-beach-persian-rug-restoration.html https://www.tumblr.com/taylogbusinessspaces/753132795821424640

11. what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general? I’ve learned way too much on how parasites (read: tapeworms) work and how they effect/infest the body and that they shed this tough outer ‘shell’ and hide when resistant to treatments given to people. Also parasitic hiving is something that's just 'chef's kiss' when adding to the body horror that is a Nemesis Tyrant. I research usually to find out nitpicky things like how titles and military ranks work, and obscure Resi lore in places like the novels, wikis, art books, and videos because playing through 3 and 5 over and over again gets kinda old for one throwaway line, ect. But aside from finding stuff to add I generally am bullshitting and twisting the lore and am not that heavily research dependent.
40. best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten. My best feedback was by a longtime reader in my bookmarks. They said (paraphrasing) that I was able to make a monster romance where the lead was not woobified/declawed for the ship to work but still was empathetic and complex and wrote the ship in question in a way that resonated with them and is compelling to read.
It was the best feedback in that it told me I succeeded in what I set out to do: take a 2D villian and him into make a morally complex beast that didn’t have to be made distractingly cuddly or mindlessly evil to be worth reading about, make the ship itself engaging as written and that there was a reader that wanted that.
(also being told my stuff by readers is ‘hypnotic’ and ‘unholy’ are very close to top tier feedback lol)
48. do you reread your own stories? All the time! Partly to keep track of threads/character voice as this AU is well over 400,000 words with 6 main fics and 25+ one shots - that is a lot of story lore to keep straight! But it’s also because I love this universe I’ve made and enjoy giving myself chills at what I’ve put down to then go ‘I wrote that!?’
73. how do you visualize scenes? do you see it like a movie in your head, or do the words just flow? I see my scenes as like a music video, set lighting, music, and all (why I have so many music recs in fics). But I also tend to write ‘IC’ as in for an hour if I’m writing a scene for Nemesis I’m writing in his mindset and just let it all go. It’s also how I get those weird surrealistic scenes out - I think in some circles it’s called ‘automatic writing’? After I’m done I go into me the writer mode and edit, cut, and fix things like narrative placement (I do generally outline the plot of a fic), most grammatical errors, formatting, ect. (refers to this ask game post)
