Last night I was hit with the wonderful concept of characters fainting at an airport.
There are plenty of contexts this could be placed into, but specifically what I was considering was the idea that they came down with something very quickly and suddenly while on their plane, without warning, and spent the latter half of the flight shivering and dizzy and trying to stifle coughs in their elbow.
They make it off the plane somehow, shaky and weak though they are, keeping their eyes straight ahead on whatever point on the floor isn't moving at the moment.
But halfway down the walkway to the baggage check, they get hit with a wave of lightheadedness that doesn't just go away even when they squeeze their eye shut. They're sleep deprived and dizzy and nauseous and suddenly overheated, sweat soaking their back and neck, and so violently in public that the sheer social terror of being sick is worse than the discomfort itself. They try to ease themselves slowly to the ground but before they make it their knees turn to water and they collapse to the ground, to the shock and concern of their fellow passengers.

A strong healing magic that works with a twist. It takes away from the others opposite health. Ex: Heal physical and it drains their mental health.
Bonus points if it drains the healer’s health instead of the opposite health.

So there's gossip about some version of kinktober over on twitter adding a bunch of nonsensical rules this year, and I am fascinated. Studying this like a bug.
Like, what the hell.

#thats like half of all common kinks ahsjdjjdjss#i will be writing the most nonconsensual kinktober ever in response

I think 50 shades of grey did so much damage to BDSM writing in fic and like not because I think fic writers were taking inspiration from it, but we did get a lot of detailed explanatory posts about all the different ways in which those guys were Doing It Wrong, which is not in and of itself a bad thing but since then everybody got so hung up on making sure everybody in their fics was nothing like 50 shades of grey and actually demonstrates that yes I do understand the principles of safe sane and consensual and the traffic light system and safewording and aftercare and checking in that now everybody fucks like a 101 handbook and I think we've only just recently started to recover from it. love me a dynamic where it's two repressed freak idiots who accidentally invent BDSM all on their own and have to come up with the strangest most deeply harmful ways of navigating that situation

HEY!
So, I don’t know who this is going to reach, but I hope it reaches anyone or everyone <3
I really want to meet small whump creators on here. I do obsess over a lot of whump creators who are big and somewhat popular, and I always wonder how to find smaller blogs that are lurking around like I do. As a small blog myself.
So if you’re a small whump blog and want to meet new friends, I’d love to read your stories and see what you create. Even if you don’t make anything and just reblog, that’s okay too. I really do think there are hidden gems out there that I’d love to find, but sometimes it’s hard to.
And if you interact with this post, we’ll all find each other and make more friends. At least, that’s what I’d like to think would happen.
And while you’re here, maybe say something in the comments about yourself, your blog, or your stories. What’s your favorite whump trope? What have you put your characters through? What’s the whumpiest media you’ve consumed lately?
As usual, I’ll say that I obsess over everyone’s OC’s and literally want to eat every crumb of lore I can get. I love drawing them too! So please talk about them!
Have a whumperful day!

Nothing beats the moment when the unconscious character wakes up confused and drowsy but well-tended to, the person at their bedside immediately noticing their disorientation

Let your blorbo get older. Not senior citizen older, but old enough that all the injuries they incurred from doing stupid or innocent things in their childhood come back to haunt them. And there will be nothing that can be done about it either.
Injuries don't always stay in the past where they happened. The ankle I fucked over when I was a teenager, has come back to haunt me in explicable ways many times in my adulthood. With no explanation or obvious cause it HURTS and then it doesn't.
I heard from an orthopedic surgeon that a scaphoid fracture usually leads to arthritis in the surrounding area within at least 5 years. That tracks for me too (he didn't tell me this directly, it was in a clinical skills teaching class and I was the SP).
Let your blorbo get old, especially if they've been rough on their body in their youth. Because it will not take long for it start haunting them.

I'd look so sexy collapsed onto my knees with a sword impaled right through me like a shish kebab while streaking your hands in blood as I smile weakly at you. Don't you think?

did you know that a huge complication of bed rest, even just for a few days, is back pain, potentially severe? that alone makes it hard to stay lying down because it would feel so much better on your back/hips to get up, even if the rest of the pain is just as bad. do with that what you will
