A Bit More Info on the Update Mechanics

The decision on which club you join is one of the first questions in Chapter 1, so players will have to restart from pretty early on. However the fencing club flavor text will continue to run throughout the rest of the game (including in the Camelot dream sequence with the Courtyard branch for the Lucid Dreamer MC).

Otherwise this current update does not progress the game further into Chapter 2.

the raven cycle is a series of four books by maggie stiefvater: the raven boys, the dream thieves, blue lily lily blue, and the raven king. there is a follow-up trilogy called the dreamer trilogy made up of three books: call down the hawk, mister impossible, and greywaren.

(my 'cdth' tag is my tag for the sequel series, which i like even more than trc.)

it's a YA modern fantasy series set in a small town in rural virginia. the series focuses on a gang of five teenagers (a sixth joining in book 3/4) who are all dealing with various magic bullshit in their lives. one is looking for a dead welsh king along a ley line in the mountains of virginia, because legend says that the king can be woken and grant a wish.

the problem is that this boy, gansey, is going to die.

we know this because the one girl in the group (sorry women. there are more women in cdth i SWEAR), blue, saw his ghost on st mark's eve. which means he will die within the next year. why did she see his ghost?? because he's either her true love, or she killed him.

or, you know. both. if you're a girl who's cursed to kill your true love with a kiss. as she is.

blue does not want to kill anyone. blue also does not want gansey to be her true love. they get off on the wrong foot entirely and she decides he's the devil for a little while. blue is overall having a bad time with the world and her place in it and the fact that she's the only non-psychic person in a family of psychics, And Also She Doesn't Want To Kill Anyone.

so the question is -- for all four books -- what..... would make her kill gansey. how is gansey going to die.

gansey's three other closest friends are boys in varying states of emotional turmoil.

ronan, who is where my URL comes from, is a suicidal bipolar maniac alcoholic who spends all of his time trying to kill himself. and is also magic as fuck. and hiding it. and going out street racing with a guy who wants to eat him. and they're kind of fucking about it. they technically never fuck except like. they're kind of fucking about it

adam is a trailer trash kid paying his own way into the elite boarding school that gansey & ronan attend. his dad is physically abusive to the point of adam's life being in constant danger, but adam refuses to accept gansey's offers of help or safety, because he's determined that nobody else ever Own him.

noah is a quiet kid with a violent past that gansey cares about very deeply, getting into all of his backstory involves major book one spoilers but it is. Rough.

the plot points in the series are complicated to explain because there's a lot of mythology and strange worldbuilding and psychic bullshit and magic all going on and playing off each other. but the series is about these five kids being in a giant pseudo-polyamorous relationship and loving each other and hating each other and wanting each other and killing each other.

it has some of my favorite relationship arcs of all time in any media, ever, and also it like. taught me how to write. So Dreamers & Delusions Pt. 10 is up! I have struggled so much writing but I'm satisfied with where it's going. I'm going to take a little break from writing this series for a little bit to focus on a couple other projects I've been wanting to as well as do a little editing.

It will still be a while before it goes in for editing as it takes place in the same universe as From Veil to Vegas. There's a list of stories that will eventually get moved for publishing as soon as I get the time to write and edit them but things will be moving in that direction.

I also plan to publish Masks but that will stay as a reader x characters story per multiple requests.

There will also hopefully be an increase in art as soon as I can find and commission some artists for Patreon goodies. I'll be putting up a poll for that soon~

Hello love I was wondering how you set up color palettes and how you apply the colors to carrds and maybe blog aesthetics if you're able to? thank you so much! we appreciate everything you do!

Hi! Applying color palettes to carrds and your blog aesthetics is really all about personal taste and what you think might look good. When it comes to carrds, unless I'm going into it with a specific vision in mind, usually I start by going to a palette website for inspiration, like coolors, which lets you browse trending palettes or allows you to make your own, or colorhunt. (Since I do public carrd templates, sometimes I find a bunch that I like and then do a poll to see which of them people would like most for a new template.)

From there you plug in the colors wherever you want on your carrd and again it's something that comes down to personal judgement and taste, and often a bit of trial and error. Sometimes you might pick a palette and then things don't look exactly like you thought they would when you put them all together on a carrd so you end up having to shift the colors a bit to be more cohesive. (Knowing a bit about color theory and what colors pair well together certainly helps so I highly recommend looking into those concepts if you want to make aesthetics that are pleasing on the eye.)

I'll use one of my recent templates, Dreamer, to show how this worked for me as a palette versus the colors I ended up using. If you look at the codes of the colors on the palette against the color codes in the editing panel of this text box, you'll see that some of the colors are the exact same, but some are a little different. They are similar shades to what was on the original palette, but they were adjusted to better fit aesthetically as otherwise there would have been *too* much contrast between color groups that I wanted to complement each other. Many of the violet shades were shifted in hue to be cooler / bluer in tone (rather than warmer / more red) to better match the base background colors I was building off of, and it was the main text color I used and the warm pink in some places that I wanted to be the contrast against the dark, cool-toned background, the colors that draw the eye; everything else needed to be more of a monochrome to avoid what I call "color overload", where you just have too many colors that stand out on their own and don't blend in some way, and it can be overstimulating and unpleasant to look at.

When it comes to building those monochrome complements to a palette, especially when it comes to background elements, it's best not to shift the hue *too* far, and better to play around with the brightness of the color itself to create that contrast within space; take the color of the dark primary background color and the secondary background color behind the main sections of the Dreamer template for example in that regard, see how they are almost the same color but shifted so that one appears lighter than the other and creates a more subtle (but still noticeable) border effect. It's the same for the light version of the palette, Ghostly. But not all palettes need that much thought put into them, and some carrd designs do not require as much work. Take the Rose template for example; a lot of my carrds follow this simple outline border design, where you only need a border around your containers that contrasts with the background (which is the same color as the container) in order to create that visual separation. That whole template uses a three color palette primarily, so the process definitely can be something simple depending on how much detail you want to put into it and how varied you want the colors to look!

When adding graphics, I tend to use psds and adjustment layers to better match them to the aesthetic of the carrd. And all of this advice applies the same to editing blog aesthetics, except blog aesthetics are perhaps a bit easier since you really only need a two-color palette for the blog itself, and if you use big graphics, the aesthetic becomes more reliant on the graphics as they will draw the eye more than the background and colors. (But I am personally of the belief that graphics are absolutely not necessary to have a great rp experience; I don't believe in that kind of elitism, and when it comes to your blog, your writing should be what shines above all else!) When choosing which graphics to use from an aesthetic standpoint, it's best to use your creativity. Pick a theme and try to visualize what you want your blog / carrd to look like, and then choose images and coloring psds that complement that theme. Especially when it comes to changing your blog aesthetic, to me, it's always easier to do your graphics first (if you are going to use a lot of graphics) and THEN adjust your blog colors, since it will be easier to shift those two colors in the blog settings than to go back and keep editing your graphics over and over again until all the colors look exactly right together.

And I guess the best advice I have to add on top of everything is basically . . . just do whatever you want! It's your blog, your carrd, and it needs to look good to *you* and make *you* happy. No one else's opinions really matters. If you want a big header and pinned post graphics on you blog? Cool! If you don't want to lean heavy into the graphics and just keep things more simple? That's also perfectly fine! And don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Editing can be hard; it's something you have to learn over time, and not everyone has the resources or software or years of practice to really bring whatever they envision to life, so it really can come down to an accessibility issue. If the idea that you have to make fancy graphics is stressing you out or you're feeling pressured to do it, then don't worry about it. I promise you that your experience will be better when you stop worrying about it; you will attract the right partners for you just as you are, doing your own style of things.

That is also something I need to mention: accessibility. While like I said, at the end of the day, the only person whose opinion matters on your blog aesthetic is yourself, it is also a very kind (and helpful) thing to do as an rp partner or just a tumblr blogger in general to try to make your blog / carrd / googledocs / whatever you want to use accessible for others. This includes choosing a text and background color combination that has enough contrast for low-vision users to see, as well as not making your fonts *too small* (or even too big) or using fonts that are hard to read in general (like many cursive / script fonts). Also, color text in the tumblr editor can be fun (I use some color text for accents on my own rp blogs) but it's best not to overuse color text, and also many of tumblr's default colors to select from are indeed eye-straining, especially when put together, so I recommend using this editor to add color to your text; it's more customizable and you can pick pretty much any color you want, and it's easier to make things more of an accent to your blog colors if you wish to use colored text at all.

There is no universal accessibility answer to give here tbh, because everyone has different needs when it comes to impairments. For example, I have major low vision issues, and I find it easier on my eyes to read light text on a darker background, but I have seen other people with similar conditions say that the opposite is true for them.. So really the best thing to do is balance that accessibility and your own taste as well as you can, and above all, be mindful in everything! Don't over think it; it's as easy as stopping every once in a while and asking yourself, "Is this legible? Are these colors eye straining? Is the text big enough for most people to read, or does it contrast enough with the color of the background?" And if the answer is yes to any of those questions, it shouldn't take more than a small adjustment across the board to fix that. I promise your rp partners will be grateful for it, and being more accessibility friendly will help attract more partners that might have otherwise stayed away because they have these needs.

Dreamer in Teyvat -Night 1- (3/?)

You approach Teleport Waypoint. You hold your breath and slowly reach to the structure. You put your hand on it, you expected its surface to be cold but it was warm. Looking at it you notice that- Nothing have changed. You put your other hand on it and nothing. You didn't hear any sound, it didn't light up in any way, nothing. It doesn't work because you don’t have a map? Or it just won’t work for you? Or maybe it did work but without unlocking another one you won't know for now. If you find another Teleport Waypoint, it won’t hurt to check it. You approach the end of the cliff. You are amazed by the view. You can see Sangonomiya Shrine, also you're able to see Statue of Seven on other end of the island. This is incredible, you can feel the wind, you can hear the sound of waterfalls and some birds. You can even touch those bubbles that fly around, it’s fun to poke them.

On your right there is teleport, but this one won’t help you too much, the other one that this teleport is connected to, is not far away on your left side. Behind the teleport there is this place where this terrible puzzle was, but it seems the puzzle is already solved. You pass teleport to get closer to the small ruins. There you can see many books, bag, shield and backpack. There is no weapon sadly. Checking bag and backpack you only find like 100 mora. You’re probably won’t be able to buy too much with that. You wonder, if it’s really okay to take those things but you don’t see any campfire, nor anything to suggest that someone is coming here at all. Well, at least you got something to put things in, that you'll gather in your travels! There is no reason to go back to the beach or try the new shield against slimes, so with excitement step, you go back to the path that will lead you to the Bourou Village.

There is bridge, it looks sturdy enough to let you cross it. At the end of the bridge you see one of Sangonomiya Samurai. You put foot on the bridge, to make sure it won't break when you try cross it. You can see the Samurai watching your every move. Holding onto line you slowly cross the bridge. When you finally approach the Samurai, he loudly say -“ Halt! All passers-by must allow themselves to be inspected! Where are you from? Where are you going? Answer me honestly!” You wonder, how many times he had said this. You can tell the truth, that you’re not from here, telling everything how you have been chosen by some God…Gods to travel across Teyvat. You can also just say that you’re a traveler and you wanted to see the beauty of Watatsumi Island. You can lie about being friend of Traveler and Paimon. You can also don’t say anything and just ignore him.

I do adore this ask! I feel like it really conveys how much their personalities came across and that means so much to me. I will put the answer under the cut because I’m not sure if you binged all of Darlington Extras today too, but I do like to ramble on unnecessarily 😉

The statement that you’re referencing comes from this post, where Zelda tells Antoine that she feels like she stole Rosella’s life. I meant this in a few ways. The first was a tongue in cheek reference to the decades challenge itself, in that it’s so unlikely for a third born daughter to be the heir rather than the first or even second born. It was also meant to be a comment on how Zelda never “seemed” like the heir: how she was “too quiet” or “too soft” of a character to carry on the legacy (she lost the heir poll by a landslide).

The second was that Rosella was Zelda’s role model. She was everything that she wanted to be: romantic, free of anxieties, beautiful, enchanting, and talented. Of course we know Rosella to have been much more than that, but for Zelda, Rosella’s life at the manor seemed like a fairy tale. For a dreamer like Zelda this meant a happy ending. Instead, Zelda is the one who got the adventure and the fairy tale romance; this feels almost unfair to her, because she feels like her sister is the one who actually deserved it.

Whew. Now onto your actual question: I think that Rosella would find Zelda’s life quite glamorous and romantic. The two girls share a sort of rose-tinted approach to the world, where they see everything through the lens of their own romanticism. Zelda has struggled with that and in many ways removed those glasses from herself so that she can be a true partner to Antoine and mother to Violette.

Rosella, however, never removed these, and I do not think that she would do so as easily as Zelda. Let’s not forget that Rosella had the self-absorbed trait; it is very difficult for her to extend empathy to others and she often sees life only in relation to herself. For this reason, I don’t think that Rosella and George’s life in America would have worked out well.

By leaving her husband and her family, George was actually resigning herself to a life of poverty; this is a fact that Rosella, as evidenced in her final letter, never accepted. While she did love George, she was also deeply attracted to the life that she thought she could provide for her. Realizing that this was impossible, I don’t think she would have tolerated the hardships well.

In all liklihood (provided that Rosella and Zelda were both in America) I could see Ella leaving George and going to live with her sister in New Orleans. I do think that if anyone could help Rosella mature, it would be Zelda, and perhaps even Jo, who’s bluntness could be just what Rosella needed. But I still think that Zelda and Rosella would love and cherish eachother deeply no matter their lifestyles, and have kept their bond as long as they were both together 💕

As before, I'll be open to analyzing the homestuck Classes and Aspects in the context of what personality traits and lifestyle typings fit each class and aspect, both in order to help readers understand what Class and Aspect fits them best or why their Class/Aspect fit them, as well as assigning Class and Aspect to readers or to characters they submit.

I'll also be open to Lunar Sway analysis, analyzing Derse and Prospit dreamers and assigning based on the traits and such that are common to them.

Session Analysis

Got a session and already know all the godtiers present in it? Send them my way and I'll give you my idea on how that might go based on the personalities implied by the present classpects as well as how it might go based on the consequences of those players being on a team together.

Everything from whether or not it's even winnable all the way to HOW it's won and who survives to the end.

Powerset Theorization

Not sure what powers a Classpect might offer? Send it in and I'll analyze it in-depth from a powerset angle, giving you the details on just what specifically your character might be capable of.

I have a set of OCs myself, Trolls named Aazoth Ocktur, Sashin Niliac, Cyceri Amphas, and one who only goes by Silvas, refusing to share his last name as part of a personal quirk.

Aazoth is a Knight of Heart, Sashin is a Rogue of Time, Cyceri is a Thief of Space, and Silvas is a Prince of Doom.

The OC Session Posts will be small events that take place during their game, with you, the readers, having some sway over how they turn out. Each post will end in a poll for the readers to decide on, which will impact the next post in some way, similar to how the original Homestuck pages were determined!

Hi! Any tips on how to read more often or actually finishing books? I think I just have a bad habit of starting too many books and then forgetting about them. Like I'll tell myself to start something new so I'll be more likely to remember to read more or something. But if it's a book I like..I tell myself not to finish it too quickly if I like it cuz there are always other books and I like to take my time if I'm enjoying something. So my habit that worked for a while was that I would try to read for an hour one day every week..but then I get stuck deciding what to read cuz I'm in the middle of so many. I prefer to read a couple chapters at one time. I thought the Daisy Jones show would motivate me to finally read it after a few years but it didn't and I was also reading with my sister who doesn't read much. Sometimes I try to read the same authors books at the same time so I can compare them and I think that will motivate me more to finish but I haven't. I have been in the middle of a few Emily Henry and Rachel Lynn Solomon books for about a year lol. I was hoping to try Business or Pleasure soon too. Is it better to just read a book you're enjoying faster than taking your time with it? Do you have a certain schedule or do you just read when you want? How are you able to finish so many books..and even ones that you're not enjoying? Sometimes I can be enjoying a book but still find myself skimming and I don't know why. Sorry for the long ask but any tips would be helpful! I set my goal to read two books every month..one new and one I owned, which seemed okay but I think I haven't even finished one book all year..even though there are so many I want to read! Sometimes I reread favorites too much which distracts me so that doesn't help either.

hello friend! no need to apologize for the long ask — my response is ... very long, and i'm sorry in advance for how long it is! 🤍 i've put it under the cut! x

i wanted to start this off by just saying that reading is a hobby! it's okay to take your time to read books as slowly as you'd like, or to put books down if you're not feeling them 🤍 all of that is a-okay!

i totally feel you with not wanting to get through books you're enjoying as quickly; i think that's a big part of why i reread my favorite books so often. last year, i noticed that i was reading books really quickly and not necessarily savoring them as much as i wanted to, and so i started annotating books more — which might be something you could try! i've also started getting into the habit of copying my favorite quotes into a commonplace journal (i tried doing a reading journal; just was not for me personally), which also forces me to slow down a bit as well. as someone who tends to juggle a couple books at once, i am also terrible at deciding what to read (as you might've noticed from my many tumblr polls about what i should read next). sometimes i just have a friend pick for me, sometimes i'll do a randomizer online, sometimes i'll try reading one book and then realizing that i am not in the mood for it at all, and then switch to a different book. there's been times where i've been like "i just need to finish something soon", or i'll get overwhelmed with bigger books, and i'll try to set a schedule! i don't always follow it and things do shift around based on what i've got going on (or sometimes i end up working late, etc.), but having a benchmark of "hey, i want to read [x] chapters" is helpful for me sometimes! more often than not, i'll end up reading more than the amount of chapters and that takes the pressure off for reading as much the next day. like you, i try to read a little bit each day, and i'll try to target my "sections to read" for something that'll take about half of that time. here's a photo of what my reading schedule looked like last week —

i'm definitely guilty of also starting books and then pushing them aside; like i've been "reading" strange the dreamer since january, but i really only read for chapters then, and then picked it up again last week and read another four chapters, and then haven't touched it since.

i've never been able to read multiple books by an author at the same time, but i do love binging an author's backlist books if i really like them! i read all the wibbroka books very quickly, back to back last summer, for example. i actually try not to read books that are too similar to one another at the same time but try to read books from different genres, so i'll read a fantasy, a nonfiction, a classic, a romance, something lit-fic-y, etc. but very rarely will i read two romances at the same time — i feel like it's a little too easy for me to mix up storylines/characters if i read books that are too similar, and also harder for me to decide which one to pick up that day.

i don't think i can answer your question about if it's better to read a book faster, or to take your time with it! that one is entirely up to you, but know that there is no wrong way to approach it. there are books, like emily henry's book lovers, for example, where i read the first chapter and knew i'd love it forever, and was simply unable to put it down. it's the only book i've ever read on my phone at the gym. i sped through it, just because i needed to know what happened, i could not look away from that story. and then when i've gone back and reread it, i've taken a little more time with it (and have annotated)! there are books that i've loved, like erin morgenstern's the starless sea, where i read it and was like "oh this book is phenomenal. i know i have to sit with it. i can't read it all that quickly; i have to digest it and go back and reread bits of it to totally understand it." so i think it really just depends on the book!

it takes a lot for me to DNF a book, and that's something that i should work on. i usually just push through if i'm not enjoying a book, whether that's due to curiosity, if i'm more than 50% done with it, or just because i sometimes feel obligated (this is usually if it's an ARC/a gifted book). but there's no shame in DNFing a book if you're not enjoying it, because ultimately, reading is a hobby!

i've definitely found myself skimming over sections too — more so, when it's a long book, or a fantasy! i usually take it as a sign; i'm not super interested in what i'm reading anymore, or i'm getting tired, which means i'll often either put the book down for the night, or i'll switch to a different book, or just not read that night and do something else instead.

and i will say that there's nothing wrong with rereading favorites! that's still reading! 🤍 any reading is still reading!

in terms of tips, i normally would say "pick up a bunch of books and juggle them", but you're already doing that! another suggestion, aside from switching genres, could be picking up some graphic novels, poetry and plays! just for a little variety.

i think there's the 21-90 habit rule (might be getting my numbers wrong), where it's like, it takes 21 days to build a habit, and then 90 days for it to be permanent. for me, i've worked it into my routine — i read before bed, if i'm commuting i'm most likely reading, i listen to audiobooks when i walk my dog. i carry a book with me everywhere (or almost everywhere) and i find that it helps. for example, every week i go in for allergy shots, and i spend about 45 minutes at the doctor's office waiting — that's 45 minutes of reading time!

i have different focus modes set up on my phone, and i have the 'reading' one so i don't get most notifications when i read. taking away distractions while i read also helps a lot for me! i also really like doing "reading dates"; whether that means going outside/sitting at a cafe/sitting at a park and reading (either with a friend, with my dog, etc.), or over facetime with a friend! there was a period of time this year where i was really trying to get through a book because i was so unmotivated to, and i'd call up a friend and we'd sit on facetime and read our respective books in silence! i still do it now, but less so because i'm struggling to read, but just because i like sitting on facetime with a friend and doing my own task while they do theirs.

i know you said that you tried reading daisy jones with your sister, and it seems like that one didn't go too well! have you tried buddy reading with someone else, or joining a book club? a little more structure might be helpful! i know there are some book clubs that will let you read at your own pace, whereas others are more structured and will say which chapters you need to have read by what date. having a built in discussion / community might also be helpful too!

this one's more of a "study tip" than a reading tip, but i really like the pomodoro method! it doesn't work for everyone, but it's essentially: work on your task for 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break, repeat. i personally go for longer stints (45 minutes, 5-10 minute breaks), but it's all about what works for you personally!

Req 2: “Izuku learns the hard way that sometimes the best intentions can leave the deepest wounds.”

Req 3, contains manga spoilers: “I'm neutral about Bakugou, but I have interest of see a alternative scene where Midoriya doesn't accept Bakugou apologize. Can you write this scene? If not, it's fine. “

Req 4: “Hi, how are you? As writing request, could you write Tddk as both boxers, like a boxing AU? The plot Todoroki is a cold heart fighter that is very popular in boxing world and training for Endeavor since the childhood. Midoriya is a rising fighter in the ranking, training for All Might. The first time that both meet is in a party, but none of them suspected that both going to fight next week. Sorry if my English isn't good.”

Req 5: “Somehow a ghost gets attached to Izuku and starts kind of awkwardly parenting him. The ghost cooks and occasionally ruffles his hair and seems delighted at Shouto’s hair and on rare occasions ruffles that too. And at some point Izuku finds out the ghost is a relative of his who died when she was a teenager but was a Mom type friend while she was alive and that’s why she’s been so nice to him and Shouto.”

But when Izuku meets Shōto in person, he gets the feeling that there's more to his new boss than meets the eye. It wasn't until nighttime when Izuku is attacked by creatures that should only exist in fictional stories, he is saved by none other than Shōto. And Izuku's suspicion that Shōto is more than just his boss is confirmed.”

They work together in tracking down and capturing Shinso. They force Shinso to use his quirk to have Izuku forget about Todoroki and marry the woman of Hisashi's choosing. The three keep this a secret leaving Todoroki heartbroken. Unfortunately unknown to Hisashi Endeavor has no interest in leaving Izuku alone. He tries to manipulate Todoroki into have Izuku killed.”
