New series release on March 8th. Mark the date!! Today I was at my studio in the morning. I had 3 hours to clean the studio and paint. You know, sometimes when you know you have only certain amount of time and that's when you have sharper focus and your mind has no place to think too much. The result is you become more intuitive and aligned and no matter what the outcome of those 3 hours is you feel truly invigorated and alive. That's what I call true creativity. Creativity doesn't mean more productivity. Creativity is how you feel while you are in the process and progress. Go aim for that. Put your phone down. Allow yourself to be truly in the flow even though it feels shitty at first. New Mini Series Release on March 8!! This is a mini series of a striped vase and there will be 8 paintings in different sizes and on different surfaces. I understand maybe in the art world there's a certain standard that an artist has to paint in same size canvas or in same this and that *in order to sell better*. Well, I had considered it and I politely declined and decided to do this in my own way and terms. My new mini series will consist of uniquely different paintings in all different sizes and surfaces. I'll be posting the launch here and in my newsletter. You'll be able to see each painting from different angles so it'll be easier for you to imagine what a painting could look and feel like. I like one of a kind painting. I'm not interested in same styles and same cookie cutter paintings. In this series, you'll be able to see how I tell stories and you'll feel the pull to the stories of your own in them. That's how I like to paint. Can't wait to show you!!! My first still life painting demo!! For celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year, @vancouverchinesegarden invited me to do an artist talk and a painting demo live today! It was such a wonderful community and I had a profound experience with those who joined. I cannot thank the staff at @vancouverchinesegarden enough to guide me through all this and have me talk about my Artist journey! For the demonstration, I set up a still life and did a line painting on gouache on 24"×18" 300 libs cold pressed paper. I tried to show how I see objects and where to start painting. I also demonstrated how you have the freedom to change what you see to please your eyes and give you joy. The theme of my talk was "Finding the inner creative voice within". Such a deep talk and I'm still thinking if I could have added more or actually made it less. I'm curious about what you think. What does creativity mean to you? What does it feel like when you know your creative voice talking to you. Painting in PJs Often times the thing you are scared to do is the very thing that I need to do because it becomes the antidote to all the things that scare you too. So last night, with my ever busy spinning head that's been worrying and anxiety driven, I said the heck with it I'll paint because i just knew that's what I really needed to do in order to align with myself and soul, in order to get out of my head. In PJs. And it's not the act of painting that made all the different (it actually did, but my point follows. Keep reading→), but the act of deciding to listen to what your inner creative voice is telling you is what made all the difference. So, in PJs. Again and again through painting I was able to realign with my truth and trust the process wholeheartedly. Painting always teaches me it really is the process that matters and it is the process that leads you to the place you are meant to go. It really is true. You are going to be ok. Trust the process. So yes in PJs.
