She’s unbelievably gorgeous when she sleeps. Her hands were draped across my chest as she snuggled underneath me. Her snores ….are not settle. But it was cute. I chuckled before I kissed her again. Fuck. I did a great job hiding how fast my heart was beating. She said my name. Over and over in her sleep. Each time sweeter than the last. And she agreed. She was mine to do……whatever I wanted. But I only had one goal.

To please the fuck out of her.

My eyes caught sight of our welcoming bags on the sofa chair, untouched. We were indeed busy. As a gift for our stay, we had received matching Christmas PJs with checkered patterns. Hers was predominantly white, while mine was mostly black. I carefully got out of bed, mindful of all the effort I had put in to ensure she had a good night’s sleep. I wanted her to sleep as long as possible.

I slipped into my pajamas and headed to the kitchen. I was famished. She had prepared breakfast before we left, but it was now past 9 pm. My stomach was growling incessantly. I opened the refrigerator to the groceries I had prepared in advance. We weren’t leaving this cottage unless absolutely necessary. It was the greatest escape from everything. My phone wasn’t even with me. I informed my bodyguards and the team that if it wasn’t an emergency, they shouldn’t bother contacting me. They had the cottage’s home line. But I wanted to be alone with Kiyanna. I missed her terribly.

So fucking much.

And it didn’t dawn on me until I saw her face open the door. My beautiful princess was finally mine to keep for the rest of the holidays. Maybe even more.

As I set the tea kettle on a simmer, I prepared vegetables for the meal. A hearty chicken stew sounded absolutely delicious. I hummed a tune as I worked, cooking being a second nature to me. With simple ingredients, I didn’t need much control over the process.

“Something smells delicious.” Her voice resonated throughout the room, filling me with a sense of anticipation. I couldn’t help but smile as I turned to greet my sleepy princess. I nodded in acknowledgment and gently waved my hand. Her eyes lit up with excitement, and she immediately enveloped me in a warm hug. Her embrace was so forceful that it nearly knocked over all the vegetables in my hands. As our lips met, I was instantly captivated by the taste of hers.

“You could’ve slept longer, you know.” I said, placing the vegetables on the island counter. “I wanted you to.”

She smiled, goofy. “I got hungry.” She was in a plain tank top that curved over her body. Shit. And she was wearing her pjs bottoms. My tongue ran over my bottom lip, eyeing her. She stretched her arms before gripping my torso. “Need any help?”

“Nah,” I shook my head. I was almost done. I didn’t want her to help me at all. She was too independent. This time, things were different. She had to realize that it was okay for someone to take care of things now. “I wanted to surprise you with dinner.”

Her cheeks rose so high. “Well, aren’t you sweet.”

“You know …. I can be.” I joked back. I let her sample the broth. She looked at the spoon as I carefully held it to her lips. She slurped so loudly then pondered. “Well?”

“Were you a chef in a past life?” she asked me. I playfully flicked her nose, and she rubbed it in response. It was just like she did to me.

“No, but wouldn’t you know that?” I responded. Her eyebrows furrowed before she hopped on the counter. She was so short that her legs dangled off the ground.

“I may have a lot of memories,” Kiy said, taking a bite of a carrot. “But I can’t hold onto your past lives forever.”

“Yeah, yeah,” I waved dismissively.

“Besides,” Kiy continued, a hint of mischief in her voice. “I think you know who the ruler was every century.”

“Oh, yeah?” I chuckled. “Why not this century then?”

“Aye,” she replied, raising her hands in a placating gesture. “A girl needs a break every once in a while, you know. Can’t save them all.”

“Mhmmm… that’s what you call it.”

I’m still teasing her. Man, she might not be in this lifetime. But she’s a fucking goddess. There wasn’t an inch on her I didn’t want to sink my teeth into. God. I hope I didn’t sound like a fucking predator just then. I was thanking the fucking stars mind reading wasn’t in her ability. I would really be fucked. I plated the stew and served it on the island, next to her ass.

“Besides that, are you ready to eat, oh-powerful-goddess?”

She smiled broadly and lifted her plate between her hands, not even bothering to get down.

“Naturally.”
