I might tweak some details later (jewelry? take the ribbon off the bow?) but I've about got a Scalene design I like. The lipstick is really the centerpiece of the design. Now let's infodump! With more art!

🔺 Notice her lines are a a little curvy. It's not for artistic effect. She's got a Fictional Polygon Physical Disorder that makes her bendier than she should be—meaning, among other things, sides that curve and flex.

🔺 It's also the kind of condition with symptoms that are romanticized by people who don't grok that it's a debilitating medical condition. Sides that curve and flex? How exotic! This went to her head in the wrong ways.

🔺 Bill was born with the same condition. You know how squishy and blobby he was as a baby? Thaaat's genetic! He was a lot squishier than most babies! And, consequently, more adorable.

🔺Scalene dreamed of being a famous super model. Was actually a teen beauty queen at mid-tier beauty pageants. She thinks it's always somebody else's fault she wasn't more successful.

🔺 She took Bill to his first baby beauty pageant the day he was born. He did, in fact, have a Best Baby Ever award presented to him by the mayor, but to be fair he was only competing against like 6 other babies and who's going to withhold a trophy from a newborn on his birthday? Anyway the 6-12 month group and 12-24 month groups also each had a Best Baby Ever award.

🔺 This was an absolutely bonkers thing for Scalene to do.

🔺 What's that small scrunkly thing doing at a pageant, he can't even see color yet.

🔺 Their fictional squishy medical condition doesn't just accidentally make shapes cute. It's the kind of condition that affects just about all parts of the body: sides won't stay straight, poor muscle tone resulting in instability & weakness, poor motor coordination & clumsiness, back aches & pains (well, triangles don't have "backs." side aches?), easily dislocated joints, and increasingly skewed sides with age. Just about everyone in Scalene's family is born equilateral and ends up extremely scalene after young adulthood. The rest of her family have normal relationships with their condition, she's the only one who's weird about it

🔺 She was very rough on her body in pursuit of pageantry success, but her physical symptoms & associated chronic pain got a lot worse due to having a kid; she had to retire from pageantry for good. She doesn't blame Bill for this at all. Out loud, to his face. (If she hadn't been so rough on herself in pageants, having a kid probably wouldn't have impacted her health this much. She doesn't consider this.)

🔺 She's weirdly intent on seeing Bill become the success she wasn't. He's her little golden child, he deserves to be seen as the greatest! He'll show them how great he is for mommy, won't he? He won't let mommy down, will he? When he's very young, she takes him to child pageants—he'll appreciate the lessons they taught him when he's older—and this lasts until he finds out he can get out of it by pyrokinetically setting the stage on fire.

🔺 She jokes ("jokes") that she didn't realize that when she was having a kid, she was firing herself from the pageant circuit so she could hire & train her own replacement. These jokes had no long-term impact on Bill at all!!!

(Compare/contrast: how we're told Stan's "You watch the movie, you scare the girl, the girl snuggles up next to you, next thing you know you gotta raise a kid, your life falls apart" is repeating something he heard his dad say.)

🔺 Did you know that squeaky baby shoes are sometimes medical devices? Squeakers help children with poor muscle tone and delayed motor skills learn how to walk correctly: it makes them want to walk on their heels instead of their toes so they can hear the squeak. Did you know sometimes oversized squeaky baby shoes are worn by young kids who need ankle braces? Did you know that kids with poor motor coordination can take a longer time to learn complicated motor skills like tying shoelaces rather than using shoes with velcro straps? It sure is interesting that baby Bill's most defining visual feature is oversized squeaky sneakers with velcro straps and that he kept wearing velcro shoes until he was 16!

🔺 As a baby, Bill's angles were technically supposed to be equilateral,* but thanks to his inherited condition, his angles were so loose his top corner practically formed a right angle. Not good: the closer a triangle creeps to being obtuse, the more likely he'll have muscle strain and medical issues from his organs being squished out of place by his own exoskeleton.

(*supposed to be equilateral: but after receiving treatment, they discovered his angles were still 60º, 60º, and 60.1º, which is mathematically impossible for a triangle... on a euclidean plane. But on a non-euclidean 3D plane, such as in spherical geometry, a triangle's angles can add up to more than 180º... and it's this slight 3D flex to Bill's body that lets him see up into the third dimension.)

🔺 For his first few years of life he actually had a hypotenuse, until physical therapy and side braces helped him improve his muscle tone. Sometimes he still reflexively refers to his base as his hypotenuse. It's fine, sweetie, it's nothing to be embarrassed about, mommy had a hypotenuse too. Don't tell anyone.

🔺 Scalene took baby Billy to a lot of doctors as a kid, just like how she was taken to a lot of doctors! Doctor for his side braces, doctor for his physical therapy, doctor for his shoes... doctor for his eye when he started talking about seeing white glitter at the edge of his vision. Scalene didn't have that symptom, but the eye doc said their condition does occasionally come with visual problems—blurred vision, lazy eye, visual field defects... It sounds like Bill's main field of vision is unobstructed, but if the visual snow he's getting in his peripheral vision is distracting him and confusing his little toddler mind into thinking it's something real, they can give him a medication that'll narrow his field of view. From the sound of it, he's not seeing anything important at the edge of his vision, anyway.

And she only wants what's best for her golden child.

🔺 Scalene's "bow" is actually a medical device: sort of like a medical corset, it helps tug and press her anatomy into place to reduce pain. Bill started wearing one preventatively—if he can keep everything in place when he's young, it'll take longer for his angles to skew when he's older. Like wearing a retainer when you get your braces out.

🔺 He has a cane for the same reason—he doesn't need it NOW when he's young, but he might as well keep it on hand, by age 35 he'll probably want to stand more often than float and when he's standing he'll probably want the extra support! Even if he doesn't need it by 35, he will eventually!!

🔺 Bill doesn't medically need a bow tie in the third dimension either; but he adapted it to help tie his 3D exoskeleton on.

🔺 A trillion years later, Bill suspects that his mutation to see the third dimension came, at least in part, from his mom's medical condition. Except, she didn't have that vision. Nobody else with the condition on her side of the family had that vision. It's not a known symptom of the condition. His dad had stuff going on with his eye too, did he get it from his dad's side? A mix of both? Just a standalone random mutation? He doesn't know; and with the rest of his species dead, there's no way for him to find out.

But back to Scalene!

🔺 She's not quite red, she's rose gold. However she doesn't like it. She thinks it's a sort of pinkish brown and very dull. She uses makeup to make herself look redder. Note how bright red her sides are: in a species where only your edges are visible, body paint is the most common form of makeup+fashion. She's pleased her baby came out gold-gold, it's much cuter. Bill knows she's rose gold, but he only saw her with her makeup off when she was tired or sick; he remembers her painted red.

🔺 She adores her Billy; but she somewhat sees him as an extension of her will. She thinks he's just perfect and will tell anyone who asks; but she also demands he be perfect and is furious when he isn't. She'll protect him from ANY perceived external threat; but she'll tough love him into being the kind of success she thinks he should be. He learns early that when he screws up, he can often redirect his mother's anger by pointing his finger and saying it's someone else's fault, and she'll bring the wrath of heaven down on them. Woe to the teacher who gives Bill an F on a test.

🔺 I'm on a quest to write Bill as a foil to the entire cast of Gravity Falls, and that extends to writing his family as a foil to the entire cast's families. Scalene's a blend of Pacifica's mom and Caryn: beautiful, proud of her beauty, afraid of losing her youth, self-aggrandizing, quick to lie about her & her family's (false/exaggerated) accomplishments—and very aware of the fact that you can say anything about woo-woo mystical matters and nobody can prove you wrong.

🔺 So she takes it great when they figure out Bill is, like, legit psychic. And by "takes it great" I mean "starts a cult."

There's what I've got on Scalene. Fortunately, I got to keep all my pre-TBOB headcanons about Bill's mom, I only had to change her shape & color. I already had medical trauma baked right into the family!

(Preemptive disclaimer before I get any "but she doesn't look 2D" comments: we all understand that the baby Bill picture we see in the book is a psychically-generated 3D approximation of Bill's 2D Euclidean form, right? And that drawing a 3D baby Bill design alongside rigidly 2D parent designs would make it look like even in the second dimension Bill already had a 3D body, right? So, if we're drawing a 3D baby Bill and want to convey that they looked similar to him, we have to draw his parents in a similar art style, right? Okay, great.)

rewatched the due south pilot again with someone new. gradually pspspspspspssss at everyone i know about this show.

but yeah, two scenes really stick out to me this time about ray in terms of core features in how i come at him:

the second time they meet: their first meeting did not go well, he thought fraser had ruined his case, he was generally quite done with Stuff (and later on of course we will learn more about why he's so run down), there's this stranger demanding his time, and oh- oops he's just insulted his dead father accidentally and, huh, this oddity of a person is taking it pretty well to be honest... the second time they meet is entirely on ray. he seeks fraser out having done research on the case, but first he apologises to him very sincerely for having said those words. that is the first, big thing that ray offers fraser (the next, of course, is giving over his entire life and soul to him, but i don't think he realised that in that moment...)

after he gets blown up and is lying in hospital: he apologises again, this time for screwing things up. we know by now that he had a bad relationship with his own five-years-dead father who never thought he was good enough, that he's struggling under his caseload at work, we've got a sense he isn't super respected there either, and although we've met his family which is actually very loving (if loud and argumentative) he's giving a sense of being pretty lost in the world at that point and nothing that happened before was his fault. he's been helping fraser, against his superior's wishes, done some good sleuthing/detective work, and saved fraser by putting himself in front of the explosion. and then he apologises

I feel like a lot of the time ray's thought about in terms of his abrasiveness with people generally, his shield against the world he's quick to assume the worst of people and doesn't let others in, but fraser neatly bypasses those walls. on purpose? by accident? bit of both? i think he does sincerely See more to ray in their first scene, the "like you, he is pretending to be someone he's not" line feels like it's talking about more than just ray having been undercover in the previous scene, and because he's fraser he never belittles or mocks or gets aggressive about ray's behaviours throughout their first meeting, which probably also draws him in on top of the need to Make Things Right

i think beneath some of the goofier stuff (which, honestly, i dont think theres thaaat much of, but id have to do a proper count and parallel how many times he's there as "comic relief" vs when fraser is, and also times where ray is shown to be extremely competent which is often -- maybe i'd wish for more dramatic episodes for him but that's more to do with how good marciano's acting is than a real disservice done to ray himself) and the more petulant/childish manifestations of insecurities (it's hard being friends with a Saint, as he puts it very fairly in my opinion, although i also think that line partially relates to some other stuff he'd said about Fraser Please Taking Better Care Of Himself throughout the whole season) there's this ray, and that core is quite obvious pretty much from the get-go

a ray who meets sincerity with sincerity and takes fraser in with honestly barely any prompting at all on fraser's part. a man who maybe was desperate for something/one to believe in, who isn't super macho about admitting fault, and then -- in the hospital scene -- a man who's so used to thinking of himself as a screw-up to the point that he'll apologise for getting blown up to save fraser

there's a lot ray gives fraser. for one thing, fraser would be dead multiple times over without him. but ray Needed him to appear in his life in order to get through the damn day. he saw some storybook larger-than-life weirdo and grabbed hold of him immediately and then realised that the rest of the world seemed to want to eat said weirdo alive and pretty much said over my dead body and he's done pretty well living up to that

did, though, very much appreciated fraser finally properly telling him in red white or blue how much he means to him and how valued he is, because ray doesn't always see it. (funnily enough, they had another bomb threatening to detonate at the time. almost a full circle)

two scenes in which ray says sorry, one in which he was right to do so and one in which he was wrong. there's more to it, but that's the... Thing im thinking about

-He's quite impressed by that. He's quite impressed by you as a whole.

-When you grow closer and form a relationship, he's gotten a new obsession. He loves carrying you around. He's your personal wheelchair, just very big and lively. He just loves having you in his arms while walking around.

He's not necessarily one of those "people pleaser kissers" (when people don't kiss you like THEY kiss, but they kiss you how YOU kiss - does that make any sense at all??). ever since I learned of Mr Puzzles and unlocked forbidden childhood memories of watching the old stuff from the whole SMG4 thing. (Like I recall a thing where the main Mario recolor was reading a book and then there was the immma firing my laser thing. In space I think?) Thinking… mostly making connections to other medias like Ratboy Genius and going “well I liked a similar thing there so I SHOULD like this as well”

Basically I am intrigued! But when I watch it it feels like. I would rather be watching um.

Other web series(es? Do you count the whole Ratboy channel as one series? Cause all this stuff was fairly separate series-es before Starship Genius brought it all together) that also has a guy who is a purple recolor of the main character who shares a name with the channel. And it has musical numbers. And also sort of does that thing where you can laugh at it or you can get invested and then the weird stuff you were laughing at becomes atmospheric.

a/n: !!Reader is a kind of medic!! and not thaaat sick (just a cold), but its cute

Ekko:

You are something like a medic for the firelight

That means you are very important (of course you are)

You help sick people. No matter what age. Children, adults, even your boyfriend. So once you were sick, not only ekko but also everyone else panicked.

The firelights tried not to get huge cuts, burns, and even gunshot wounds on missions, so you could recover in peace.

You were the only one who knew about medicine or how to sew a wound in the right way, you saved many lives so everyone tried to help you. (Even if it was just a cold).

ekko handed over missions to Scar to take care of you. He had learned a few tricks from Vander and Vi when one of them was injured or sick.

He brought you soup or played video games with you in bed

he was hardened to colds so he also lay down with you and tried to get you to fall asleep.... which didn't work so well. The stuffy nose made your head feel weird.

“Did you know that any bookmark worth more than a dollar is a waste of money, because you could just use the dollar?” you asked with your eyes closed when Ekko thought you had finally fallen asleep.

"Gaaah!" he growled annoyed as he threw his pillow on your head. This was now the fourth failed attempt to get you to sleep

"Hey! I'm sick" you grumbled. He stared at you. You stared back. Silence

even if he tries hard to get you to sleep (and you end up falling asleep during a movie), he still tries to make everything perfect.

 You also try to please everyone when they are injured. Hell you even amputated someone's leg right at a battlefield because one of the Firelights almost died. you were afraid yourself

"Cupcake? What is paracetamol? Caitlyn says you should take some when you have a fever," she said as she combed through the many boxes in the cupboard. For being a Medic, you were pretty good with pills and medicine - you had to be.

You stood up and staggered to her, she wanted to object, but you pressed a kiss on her cheek. "I can take care of myself Vi, it's sweet that you do that, but I can go to the bathroom by myself" you giggled at the memory that Vi even wanted to carry you to the bathroom.

"i know.... still I want to do as much for you as I can.... so, what is paracetamol?" "It's a tablet that brings down a fever.... here this is the package."

since then she tries not to be so overcautious. You were right. You could take care of yourself - you are strong.

Still, she tries to take most of it off your hands. You had patched her up when she came home with bloody fists and a swollen cheek too.

"I love you, sweetie." you whispered as Vi helped you change the cold washcloth on your forehead

She briefly stopped what she was doing. Then a smile crept onto her face. She quickly leaned down to you and pressed a small kiss on your lips 

"Vi! You're getting sick!!" She falls on top of you. "I don´t care"  she murmured.

hey anon!! no worries, i'm glad you asked—i was in the same boat of curiosity and confusion myself for a long time. i used to be pretty ambivalent about tom, especially growing up in the early 2000s when the media and tabloids painted a very specific picture of him. it wasn't until i had some long, eye-opening chats with a friend that i started to reassess my own biases around him. we talked a lot about his involvement with the church of scientology, his personal life, and the ways the media has influenced our perceptions—not just of tom, but of anyone living under that intense spotlight.

this is a hard one to answer, especially publicly, i don't know the guy personally and never will, all i have is what i can tangibly see, read and hear, and i'm still on my own journey to better understand the hate and where it all stems from - as well as determining whether this discomfort i have for liking him as an actor is warranted at all. others in teh community probs do a better job explaining this stuff than me, but i'll give it a go - from someone that's learning to unpack her own biases and read between the lines a little.

happy october! i love spooky season, not for the spooks, but for the earthy tones and slight weather change. i have definitely not prepared myself enough for this cold weather and am in a bad mood lately, but i am very ready for this season. i like it better downstate because it's very fucking cold up here.....i don't like it thaaat much up here, but everyone i know and care about is up here, so yur. i also love wearing sweaters, cardigans, sweatshirts, fun socks, ugg slippers, PANTSSSS pacifically flare pants and jeans in general.

i like that my hair sits on my shoulders and has enough volume that it looks vibrant, but what i wouldn't do to have thin hair that is easy to put up in a ponytail and take care of. i hate how frizzy my hair looks about one hour after brushing it, how it takes so much effort to put it up and how often i see other people putting their hair up in such cute braids n shit! i want that. every day it sits awkwardly on my shoulders waiting for me to give enough of a fuck to do something about it. i also don't do anything to take care of my hair. i just hate it and stick with whatever it looks like. i don't blow dry my hair ever, i also don't wear makeup really. i only brush out my hair after it's mostly dry, then i brush it a little, cuz it just frizzes up and looks poofy and stupid when i brush it out. i don't like how time-consuming hair and makeup is. i would love to be an eyeliner and mascara girly, but eyeliner is so hard. im good with my mascara cuz i also don't want to look like im wearing anything. it's super cool to see the eye looks people come up with, but i wouldn't want people to always look at me even if it made me feel good to wear it and that i worked hard on it--if that makes people stare at me or look at me more than usual, i don't want it.

this blog is all over the place as i am plopping ideas onto the page that have come up and are all that i can remember for the time being. sometimes i write these in multiple go's and i hate it because it lacks the continuity that i crave. i also love sitting down and writing it in one sitting because it develops a theme, but sometimes that theme is very tunnel-visioned and doesn't make any sense at all. this blog is not going in one single direction or even a couple, it's going in many directions and i couldn't care less this time to fix it because i feel like shit.

speaking of my blog and continuity--i want to try to post on either tuesdays or thursdays or both. thats what i did last week and it felt easier. thursdays appear to be the worst day out of my week consistently so i hope to get at least tuesdays.

why do people have children? i mean seriously, why? because it's what other people do; because it's the expectations your parents set for you; because you want the population to keep going; because you really wanted to have a little girl since your own childhood for vague reasons at first, then realized you hated the way you were raised and want to do better for the next generation and you can't complain about the next generation going to shit when you aren't actively having children? yeah, these reasons are very pressuring. feels rough when i don't even really want children for myself, i just want to parent in a different way than my parents, and that in and of itself could be more harmful than just not having kids. idk. i probably will have kids so i don't feel useless in the future, but also, i don't want to pressure them to do anything they don't want to....idk....

i really dislike when people get so opinionated that they have blurred vision or even rose-colored glasses on. i want more opinions from different people, but it's also so overwhelming honestly. i need like a couple of business days to take in what people say to me, and that's way too long before people get bored or forget what five-second convo we had that i thought about for way too long.

i scratched my watch against the wall when trying to get something in between my wall and my bed. it turns out my bed was too close to the wall and i want to truly throw it at the fucking wall because what the fuck. this thing gets scratched so easily and it pisses me off. i hope it goes away this time...it's happened before.

i am almost completely done decorating my room. got my mushrooms up, my butterflies have a home now, i put my mattress topper on my bed, and i removed the clutter from the ground. i gotta vacuum, build the shelf, put up some posters, and get a rug from target most likely. yipee!~

El Greco: Ah…

(My birthday has finally arrived…)

Aoi: … What's wrong, El Greco-kun? You've been fidgeting for a while…

El Greco: … Everyone didn't come back. I feel like I've had a block of ice pressed against my back since yesterday.

Aoi: … Uhm… You mean you've been anxious? Right?

El Greco: I've never felt this way before. I've been trying to avoid contact with other people my whole life. I never thought someone could be such a big part of me…

Aoi: El Greco-kun…

Munch: We're baaaack!

El Greco: !

Van Gogh: Hubert! Here! We brought the ingredients! Cook them noooow!

El Greco: …! Did you really… get them?

Munch: Yeah! Because it's a celebration, right? It's your birthday, Niko-chan! We wanted to do it the way you do it at home!

El Greco: … Ah!

Van Gogh: Wowoah!?

Munch: Mmmmh, it's painful if you squeeze me like thaaat~

El Greco: I'm so glad you're back safe and sound… I'm really… really…

Mucha: I apologize for any concern we may have caused you. But as you can see, we have returned without any injuries.

Van Gogh: Yeah. We managed to get some difficult ingredients through Mucha-san's contacts.

El Greco: I… I kept thinking, what if you didn't come back? No matter how wonderful my birthday is, it would've been meaningless if I didn't have everyone… my friends. To me, you guys are like a snail that met a tomato…!

Munch: You thought so much of us, didn't you…!

Mucha: … I see, I felt like I was able to learn the words of El Greco-kun's hometown once again.

El Greco: It's not just the words. You will also get to know the celebratory dishes from now on. I'll have to teach Hubert how to make them.

Munch: I wanna help toooo~

Van Gogh: Yeah, me too!

Mucha: Fufu. Then I would like to learn what it is like as well.

… How nostalgic. The last time I ate it was the day I left my hometown.

El Greco: Even back then, they went through a lot of trouble to make this dish. I really missed it.

Mucha: It may not match the hard work of those in your hometown, but how is the taste?

El Greco: It's the most delicious food I have ever eaten.

Van Gogh: It's kind of embarrassing to be hugged by El Greco-san… Hehehe.

Finally got the chance to watch the Little Mermaid Live Action. So thoughts.

They could not have picked a better actress. Halle embodies Ariel so well, is crazy. She is absolutely charming and her preformance was excelent. I had high expectations because she is such a lovely person already, but she exceded them. None of her lines felt forced even when the script has its fair of flaws. And needless to say her voice is that of an angel.

I enjoyed Eric a lot more than I thought I would. I was never a big fan of him in the original movie, but here he was very charming and fun.

The romance is adorable af. Absolutely the best part of the movie. They have such good chemestry and I like they both are akward, and collect things and love lo learn. She teaches him thing, and he teaches her things. They understand each other so well instantly. And I loved they look like they have so much fun being together, is so cuteee.

Really enjoyed "Kiss the girl", the tension was great and they actually let the song build up and have pauses. He looks at her like thaaat, you can tell he falls for her so hard, as hard as she does and I love that. The scene when she shows him her name? Albsolutely fucking adorable.

Climax too, when Ariel shatters the neckless and it all breaks loose, I like that Eric is protective immediately, he is so intense, love it. Eric all desperate after the battle with Ursula, wanting to look for her, and grabing her dress from the water bbrrrr

Their final kiss, the way he holds her, omggg (No sparkly dress or princess twirling though, so -1)

In other things, most of the complains I saw about the movie are not really a big deal. The CG sometimes looks, well, like CG, but it works. The way Ariel moves underwater looks great, so natural! I belive she is a mermaid.

Another big complain was Flounder, but he seems perfect to me. The voice is adorable, what more do you want? I think we are too used to percive fishes as "ugly" animals, so y'all think you can't find a realistic looking fish cute, but it really isn't so hard.

Lastly, maybe personal opinion, but a lot of people complained about Aquafina as the seagul. I don't think it has connected with people that the seagul is SUPPOSED to be annoying. Idk, it didn't bother me that much.

What did bother me were the songs. Wasn't a fan of the new songs. Eric's song was ok, reminded me of Madame Gaston a little bit. But the others were unnecesary and over explained too much.

The old songs sound good, but are affected by another thing I didn't like. There are some scenes that needed more impact and time to breathe and the movie didn't let them.

Ariel's discussion with her father? Needed to be more intense. The little moment of Ariel being upset in her cave before Part of your World starts? Needed some moments so we could feel her anger and frustration. I mean, this is the buildup to the big song, they could have been more careful and I felt like it took impact away from it.

Howard Ashman said the trick with musicals is that the characters break into song when the emotions start to become too grand to express with just words. I think they missed that here.

When she gets out of the water for the first time, again, needed more impact, a breath for us to take in the scene, for Ariel to take in the fact that she is seeing the surfice world for the first time. The skyyy omg she has never seen the sky and they just brievely focus on the fireworks and move on.

A good moment was when Ariel saves Eric and is holding him above the water. That little quiet moment, I felt the magic, the fantasy, I could take it all in, because they let it breatheee.

Another thing is they explain too much in dialogue. The song I by far liked the least was when she arrives on land. For starters, it takes from the impact of her loosing her voice because she is still "singing" in her head.

Let her see the world, and take it in, react to it, but I don't need a song explaining me how this is the first time she is seeing fire and that Eric walked away from her, I know, I'm watching it happen!!

The one that is more distracting with the over explaining is Ursula. I wasn't that sold on Melissa MacCarthy at first, I think Ursula should have been played by a Drag Queen, and was dissapointed on her first scene because they purposely mirror almost frame by frame Animated Ursula's introduction, except it didn't have that spark from the original.

But I ended up liking her a lot on her other scenes. She was cool, Melissa played her own version of the role and is great. I loved her lair, the entrance with the (what is it, a mosasaurus?) skeleton, was so cool! She came and played the "aunt who knows what you are going through" cart on Ariel pretty well.

Other things I liked. The original voice actress for Ariel making a cameo caught me off guard. I got teary eyed when she gave Halle the fork, like was passing it on to her.

The scene of them dancing in the market, mirroring the sounds and visuals of "Under the sea", THAT is show don't tell. We are getting just by visuals that humans and sea creatures are not that diferent from each other.

Why did the final scene with Triton made me cry??? wtf?? From Triton coming out of the water all whimsical, noding to Eric, the silent moment of saying goodbye. All the diferent mermaids appearing and standing beside all the diferent humans, gathered to say goodbye to them. Signifying how the bridge between worlds has been crossed because of their love.

I had a big smile in the end. Overall I really liked it, wow, can you belive it, I liked a disney live action. Is fun, the actors are good at their job, the story is engaging.

I think the movie, like most of the live actions, fails the most when it's trying to imitate the animated movies too much instead of doing its own thing. Some things like visuals and the pacing just don't translate well into live action.

But I love that this one has respect for what the original wanted to tell. Is respectful towards the fact that is a fairytale and a romance, and they let it be fun and whimsical instead of filling it with meta jokes. Is charming, like a princess fairytale should be.

thiis is gonna sound kinda wild but i want hu tao and hakuno to talk abt death!! :D SVJCJWFN HEAR ME OUT- hakuno's someone who very strongly does not want to die (even though she has no reason to live either </3) so interacting with a funeral director? it could be rlly neat! hakuno's living status is Weird(TM) but i think it'd rlly help her to understand that it's how you spend your life which is important- and that she should live it to the fullest! hakuno tends to be on guard and serious all the time so being around someone as playful as hu tao could really help methinks! 🥺 and for how calm and reserved she is, hakuno's got a pretty mischievous side so her pulling a (hak)uno reverse card and pranking hu tao for a change? very possible! and it'd when she least expects it too ✨️

charlie you were so gigabrained about bringing up bosacius btw... it'd be super interesting to see em interact with someone in the same boat and i especially wanna know their differences when it comes to this!!! i'm also peeking at your misc hcs for him and first of all I LOVE HIM 😭😭🫶🙏💖💞 ( and second of all- i love the difference in vibes?? temperaments?? whatever you call it!! bosacius having those naturally welcoming presence and hakuno just being so aware that she is not like that at all. for all her efforts to do so, she really struggles in making that personal connection with others and always feels isolated on some level so :,) i just wanted to say thaaat </3 there might be some comparisons that she unintentionally makes between em methinks, and she'd definitely admire him in a way + think he's much better than her 🥹✨️

i'm staring at kai and his genshinverse (but i'm also down with exploring other verses too >:3c) because as the darknight hero's no. 1 fan i need hakuno to somehow stumble on him fighting and seeing the similarities between his fighting style and diluc's!! and from there i really want em to talk about why they fight ??? hakuno only does it when necessary and she doesn't care about strength and all that- she really only fights out of self-defense/self-preservation or to protect something and idk i feel like that difference in attitude also reflects their approach to interpersonal relationships 🤔🤔 idk but i just think it'd be pretty interesting 2 explore! and ough man i just think if she someday found out about his past and upbringing then 💔💔 IT'S GONNA HURT and hakuno would have a lot of Thoughts(TM)

i also want to talk about elio real quick because i adore their interactions so far and i just think the concept of fate or destiny in general would be real interesting to explore with these two!! elio being like a slave to destiny has me all 👁👁✨️ and it definitely seems like a heavy weight to carry?? i can't even begin 2 imagine it 🤯  but i want to know more abt it!!! hakuno def would be curious too ! and like- her whole character is about identity and the free will to be who you are so i think she'd definitely wonder- if everything is predetermined then what's the point of making choices? definitely would be lots of mixed feelings abt that concept! on a sillier note, if hakuno finds out that elio has a black cat form then she would be 👁👁✨️ Especially Intrigued (<- cat luvr)

i read lynx's line about how "In the Landau family, things are quite simple: If you want to do something, just go ahead and do it." and the hakuno muse just went what i want to do... do i even have something like that....? 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️hakuno does have a tendency to overthink things though, so i think that kind of simpler way of thinking could be pretty good for her mayhaps! also maybe have em talk about socialization because hakuno would think that "aren't all socialization necessary..?" (<- girl who really wants to properly interact and connect with others) alsoo methinks hakuno would def ask lynx for some wilderness survival tips!! 🫡🫡✨️✨️ i think she'd be interested in seeing in exploring more of the world and it definitely won't hurt to be better at surviving! and imagine them exploring the snow plains together 🥺 could be fun methinks!!
