Okay! Batman fans whining about this! Let's see who keeps their rights during a trump presidency!!!
Bruce Wayne! He might have a decent time because he's rich and white. He might get slack for CANONICALLY being jewish.
Dick Grayson, nope! Romani and from a travelling circus? There's no way he'd have a good time, he'd be hatecrimed. And that's not including the few instances of him being canonically bisexual!
Okay, what about Jason Todd? Nope, he lived in crime alley. He was poor. Both Dick and Jason would be tormented by right wing people even after being adopted by Bruce. Dick especially, again Romani heritage.
Tim Drake is one that would normally be a he'd be fine. But he wouldn't. He's canonically bisexual. So despite being a white man from a well off family, he'd be hatecrimed. He wouldn't have a good time at all due to the prevalent homophobia. He likely would not be able to marry Bernard either.
Next, let's see Stephanie Brown. Not well off, she is a woman, and then there was the teen pregnancy. Yes, steph gave the baby up for adoption, but she still wouldn't have had a good time due to sexism and them just hating non rich people. She would be pressured to keep the baby in an America with trump in power.
Damian Wayne would also have it rough. He's not fully white. He'd have an awful time. Racists are comfortable in a trump run America.
Cassandra cain would have the same issue but she's both not white and a woman. She would have to deal with racism and sexism.
Barbara Gordon, like Stephanie and Cass, would have to deal with sexism. She's also disabled so she'd deal with ableism too.
Duke Thomas is up next, and he'd deal with racism. Again, under a trump Presidency, racists run rampant.
Finally, Kate Kane. Batwoman! Jewish and a woman and a lesbian. She'd deal with antisemitism, sexism, and homophobia.
Now, taking all of that into account, would Bruce Wayne be one of those "leave politics out of this" guys? No. He'd like his family and his family's friends/partners to have rights. Because he's literally Batman. Now do you see how it'd be hard to write heroes? Because you lot sure aren't behaving like heroes.
My qualifications for stating all of this is that I'm a 17 year old trans man that is a aspec bi, and Indian. British Indian ethnically! I also read comics frequently and have read enough about Batman and his kids and his kids' partners and his other relatives to know enough to say this. I'm not American but you know when the British aren't laughing at American politics, it must be really bad.
The amount of comic fans, hero fans, I've seen supporting trump or being apolitical and mad politics gets spoken about is insufferable. Do they read with their eyed closed? Comics have always been a political media! Why do you think Batman exists? Because his parents were killed and nobody stopped it. Why is Batman still a thing? Because there's so much crime that gets pushed aside because said criminals are wealthy or high status.

Mental health this, mental health that. Ya’ll seem fine saying that Checo has Cartel connections and wishing him dead (No, he does not have cartel connections). Ya’ll are absolutely okay with calling Alex a ladyboy (No, he’s not and gender shouldn't matter to ya’ll. Besides if you’re going to say this type of shit say it at Sukhumvit 11 and I’ll be waiting to see your face on national news). You guys keep bringing up Max’s childhood and how he got abuse by his father for laughs (Disgusting). Being very racist to Zhou and all of China and people with Chinese heritage in general (No, we don’t eat dogs and cats). All the shit that was said about Lance (He got money and you don’t. Cry harder). Daniel McLaren saga that were taken as a joke for some group of people (Eating disorders shouldn’t be taken lightly.) Racist shit said to Lewis (People are people no matter the skin color).
This is just some examples that I personally encountered. If you really respect drivers mental health then you shouldn’t use it (mental health) when it is only convenient for you to push your agendas. It’s not “Mental health matters but, except, or, when it comes to”. It’s “Mental health matters period,”
Thank you for reading.

YOU FUCKS VOTED A GODDAMN HITLER FOR FUCKING PRESIDENT. YOU AS IN YOU MANIPULATED TRUMP SUPPORTERS.
TRUMP DOESN'T FUCKING CARE FOR YOU, HE'S ONLY DOING THIS FOR HIMSELF. WHY CAN'T ANY OF YOU SEE THAT? NO MATTER WHAT I SAY, IT WON'T GET THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL. HE'S RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC, TRANSPHOBIC, A RAPIST, A FELON, AND JUST ALL THINGS AWFUL.
"Proof?" Y'all don't fucking listen to the proof.
"But in the bible-" Don't mix your religion into this shit. A bunch of y'all who say that are hypocrites anyway.
"You're the one who's manipulated here!" Both are open with their beliefs, but it's obvious to see how bad of a person Trump is with literal video evidence. Now let me say, Kamala, or at least from what I've heard/seen, is not a good person either, but she's so much fucking better for us if you see her policies and videos about her.
Trump CONSTANTLY talks about immigration, which is proven through the debate. And that statement about people in Springfield eating cats and dogs? Honestly, you can't be serious in voting him.
Let me tell you this, Trump is stupid. Obviously he doesn't know how to run a country, but there is one thing. He is.. I think cunning is the word.
I'm in a Politics class right now and not too long ago we were observing his actions and what he does to rally in people, and with this clip of his being confronted about doing something, I think it was about a comment about women, he played it off as a joke. And everyone laughed.
I wholeheartedly believe he's only running because he went against a woman. Because obviously the people rather have a felon in power than a woman. Don't you dare fucking ignore that part and I hope the guilt, from when this country falls apart and YOU'RE left in that dust, consumes you. I hope it eats away at your mind, knowing that we could have had the FIRST woman president, and a potential better economy. And if you chose Trump because he's the "safe" option, sometimes you have to take gambles. And don't DARE fucking say that you'd "Have a woman president. She's just not the right one." I've heard someone say that already, and god that is such bullshit, it's just literally insane. You fucking rather a felon. Why do you put a woman at a high standard and not the other man? Tell me, why?

who up sinning their fest
#one of my worst recent hyperfixations i'll admit#and i dont even have an excuse like ohhh i used to read this back in the late 2000s before all the terf shit#no i got into it in late 2023 this school year cause i stumbled across the tvtropes page#and i was like 'sinfest'? isnt that the name of that terf Twitter comic? but the cover image showed a sick ass artstyle so i read it#and im just obsessed with it now its such a strange spectacle. its like a political cartoon and a newspaper comic at the same time#my fav era has gotta be late 2000s maybe early 2010s sinfest... hell maybe even mid 2010s sinfest if i ignore the sisterhood#now every strip is just about jewish people or calling trans women groomers#and almost every once-likable character is now canonically a terf and/or racist and/or antivaxxer etc#or theyre just not in the comic at all anymore like my dear criminy and fuschia#i hope we never get another appearance from them godbless#cause last time we saw criminy he was helping squig and slick break a terf out of she/her penitentiary. with fuschia's permission#theyre definitely the best part of 2010s sinfest. a bygone era#the best part of 2000s sinfest is the sharp artstyle and lil e just being evil#and the best part of 2020s sinfest seems to be. um. laughing at how ridiculous it is? its kind of hard to enjoy though.#i intend to stay updated on it because i like being able to say i've read all of sinfest start to finish#but man i gotta get an adblocker soon cause i read it on the official website cause idk how else to read it online and the ads are constant#really funny when ur reading a strip criticizing the prevalence of ads in our day to day life#not as funny when you remember tatsuya is probably making money off of them. so yeah im gonna install ublock#but the problem is i usually read it on my school computer to pass time. and that technically isnt my computer so i cant download ublock#anyways. i could ramble on about how much i love and hate and am obsessed w sinfest all day but heres some fanart of the characters.#id like to make my own headcanon version of sinfest aka sinfest if it was good#but headcanons arent enough... i need to kill tatsuya ishida#sinfest#squigley sinfest#monique sinfest#lil e sinfest#the devil sinfest#tangerine sinfest#images that are horrid to see and look at#mspaint

i don't want to put my uninformed foot in my mouth or get involved with the Discourse but i've been seeing the two extremes of reactions to the korean low birth rates issue (on tumblr and twitter both) and i'm just kind of like. look. i feel like "low birth rates (in many countries but especially japan and korea as part of this conversation) are more broadly the result of capitalism/a culture of overwhelming overwork that makes social relationships and having families incredibly inaccessible to young people" and "low birth rates are very much a part of the current conversation about misogyny and social expectations for women in korea especially in the context of reproduction as 'unpaid labor' for women" are statements that can both be true
#laughs awkwardly#gender#especially considering the ways patriarchal expectations and capitalism very much intersect in terms of quality of life for women#ex. women being expected to have kids / raise kids / do all the housework and cooking in a relationship#while ALSO existing in a society where women (even married women) have to work demanding jobs to deal with the high cost of living#AND women are systemically discriminated against in terms of pay / job availability / work environment and harassment#all of these things add up. these conversations are not opposing points of view. you know?#and also like. not super comfortable with how TERFs are discussed in terms of non-white cultures#TERFism / radfems as a MOVEMENT (and a cult) is very much rooted in white supremacy / ideals of womanhood#again. multiple things can be true at the same time. yes i do see (from my perspective involved in taiwanese social media)#some east asian feminists engage in transphobia in ways that approach radfem rhetoric ('women are victims of men' 'men are predators'#type generalized sentiments which you can imagine gains a lot of traction among women traumatized by patriarchy)#but movement-wise i don't think it's fair (or just in good faith) to generalize radical feminists from non-white countries#to straight up TERFs. which again. rooted in white supremacy. keep feeling like i have to remind people it doesn't make sense#for asians to be white supremacists and that not all oppression on earth stems directly from white people. you weirdos#'what are you talking about' in east asia the type of feminist statements called 'radical' are stuff like.#women shouldn't have to wear make up every time they go outside. women shouldn't be expected to do all housework.#should men pay for women on dates. debates that i think in the states we kind of take for granted as stuff settled years ago#even if some feminists might be transphobic it's not necessarily Transphobia As Core Tenets Of The Movement. does anyone get the difference#basically what i'm saying is. wow these tags got long. maybe let's not apply uniform standards of 'correct language and values'#to non-white people and attack them when as all movements they are fluid and influenced by the people living in it#TERF-style transphobia is not the predestined course for them. maybe it's more productive to have open discussions about transphobia#to work towards inclusivity and solidarity in these movements than to prescribe White Internet Morality to them#and declare that they're evil when they are still very much having conversations that need to be had. thanks i think that's all#essentially. i find that 'how dare a non-american movement not have morally pristine vocabulary priorities and membership#as determined by white leftists' to be in itself kinda a racist attitude

. Sorry im ranting its been a weird day gonna go clean now
#i try not to betray too much of myself (selective overdisclosure)#BUT#it makes me FURIOUS on that post about rap haters being racist (chill and good) that people are getting accolades for shitting on country#because like#there is some weird stuff#as there is in any genre! remember kanye and marilyn manson?#but by and large as a genre? there's so much variety in it#and so much feeling and heart and relatability#poetry that makes you cry etc#i am never able to listen to it in the presence of others#because some fucker has to be like 'uhuhuhuhuh white supremacy' 'uhuhuhu bad music what even is a truck'#im like go fuck yourself#im not saying this belongs next to the conversation about rap;#both are a problem of classism and one has intersecting racism that makes it a far more serious cultural phenomenon#but it makes me fucking furious people cant see their own hypocrisy#and im just leftover bitter because i have to self censor because of that in the culture i relocated to#i can laugh at the ridiculous shit#but you know#arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh#it also a little bit feels less when i'm displaced#which then makes me even sadder and feel more and MORE pissed off#idk#im sad im so far away from my home and it hurts to see people pissed off about something they don't know#emotionally anyway#im not trying to make everything about me also. like. others have it worse and i know this#i just came here on a dream of money and joy and im here and i have friends which is lovely but im broke and starving etc#and sad and randomly yelled at all the time by upset homeless people#didnt know what i had smh

#i have been barely functioning what with the horrors of the world lately (and the horrors just keep piling on)#and am being v careful to not reblog anything so as to keep this place as gentle as poss because i’m probably not the only one who needs tha#(i’ve tried to avoid any kind of horrific details and even so the very little i read will haunt me for the rest of my life)#but i just CANNOT. for the life of me. wrap my head around how people can hear of such abject violence#being inflicted upon another living being -human or animal- and feel anything but absolute horror#like how much do you have to hate jews to be able to switch off any ounce of humanity and compassion for a living being?#the sheer number of folks - including close friends - i’ve unfollowed in the last week is staggering.#literally because i do not believe that anyone should ever get raped. like i thought we all agreed on this.#APPARENTLY NOT. i’ve never seen so many feminists brush off rape.#worst is these are all folks who love to post about punching nazis and who laugh at jewish jokes#when they’re from carrie fisher or mrs maisel or crazy ex gf or schmitt from new girl#but when it’s an actual pogrom - no more punching nazis all of a sudden#something broke in me this week to see that so-called activists who i thought were kind and decent -#don’t apparently believe that all human lives are created equal#it’s like we’ve all been working hard on being anti-racist but some of us didn’t feel that not being antisemitic was worth the bother

I have mistakenly scrolled through the fob tag (usually I am not this disappointed tbh) and I must be missing half the conversation because there are so many posts defending the tswift collab but like... without knowing what potential problems people actually have about it
"the fob fanbase is scared of the tswift fanbase" what "they've been friends for years" who is saying this stuff

Stating the obvious here but I think internet-era people should learn that you probably shouldn't expect that you can talk to everybody the same way you talk with friends and family.
Like the people I'm close with, for the most part, know my intentions and know my politics. I can be blunt and clunky with my words and I'm pretty confident that they know what I'm trying to communicate. I can poke fun my partner's gender or at my dad's bad english because those people know I love and support them.
If I were to make those same comments to a colleague or coworker, however, I think they would be completely justified in thinking I'm an asshole.
When someone keeps saying faggot in a derogatory way and HE doesn't know I'M gay and I don't know HE'S gay, that makes for an incredibly uncomfortable exchange where we both end up pissing each other off. If someone keeps saying retarded and I don't know that they were raised alongside a disabled sibling then I'm just going to think they're an ableist piece of shit, and I'm not going to ask for a detailed background before doing so.
Like "political correctness" isn't about someone busting down your front door and cuffing you for saying the wrong words in your own home. If anything it's about ensuring everyone's on the same page and no ones being needlessly hurt or being unintentionally advocated against, expecially in the case of public discourse in front of an audience. Someone ranting online about the dynamics at play in their friend's immigrant family can be easily read as racist, and those comments can even encourage racism, even if they're both the same race or both come from immigrant families. If that's not what you're trying to communicate you need to be able to... communicate that. Especially if you're posting online where anybody from any walk of life can interpret your words in any number of ways and won't be asking for clarification.
There's basically always been people moaning about PC culture and how they can't say anything nowadays and how people are so quick to "cancel" anyone for anything now. Like no shit if the first thing I hear someone say is some tasteless transphobic joke my entire perception of that person is that they're a transphobe! I'm not going to give that person the benefit of the doubt or expect them to provide a lengthy nuanced take of their "actual" politics and feelings before I decide if they suck or not. Now if that same person was telling the joke to their close trans friends who knew they were an ally/also queer/a big fan of satire and irony then that's a totally different story. And if those friends are still offended then they're already in a position to have a discussion about it. You can't expect that level of understanding or patience from randos on the internet or aquaintences and work buddies.

My family is so fucking exhausting I'm so fucking sick of it
#mom was complaining about noise at night so I made a joke about her sucking it up and sleeping in her bedroom with dad (he snores)#and just collect on life insurance#they all pretended I made a threat/serious suggestion despite THEM making ACTUALLY suspicious jokes all the time (about murdering people/#using racial slurs/doling out general hate speech and laughing at it as though it's funny)#and they tried to gaslight me into believing they DON'T say worse shit every time they open their mouths#“We've NEVER heard a joke like that!!! That's messed up!!!” lies. You “joke” about killing/enslaving black and trans people all the time#and you make no effort to make it come off as a joke (because it's not and you mean it) but when *I* make an OBVIOUSLY NOT SERIOUS#comment it's suddenly horrible and I belong in a psych ward??? just because the delivery wasn't to suit you????#then they turned around and cried racist because I called them out on their bullshit because apparently pointing out that the things THEY#say and do they're going to eventually do in front of the wrong person and they will get attacked for it (esp using racial slurs#openly and with the mentality that “Only white people get mad at them!!!” like no I'm sorry that's just not the case) is??? Racist???#POC (black and otherwise) have been telling white people not to use those words for a VERY FUCKING LONG TIME you shitstains#and me saying you're going to get retaliated against has nothing to do with whatever skin color you attributed to that statement. Another#white person would attack you for using those words just as likely as the people you're oppressing. So how about you don't??? Use them???#but nah that makes me racist apparently#racism according to repubs: telling them not to use racial slurs#they seriously cannot fucking grasp that what I said does no harm but what they say ALL THE TIME causes a LOT for a lot of people#but *I'm* the bad guy??? Ok.#my humor and yours aren't comparable but sure. Keep projecting

It's the unfounded arrogance that's driving me crazy, both from them and everyone else who shared their post.
what really amazes me about the whole Scammer Panic is the implication that people on this website are either:
incapable of running a quick cost-benefit analysis before deciding to Start Shit, or
inclined to believe that "some people lose like $15~$30 that they could afford to part with anyway" is a more significant worst-case scenario than "you may be condemning dozens of people to death, and also everyone will think you are a huge fucking racist"

Something I adore about T-Bag is how subtle but consistent his character development is because as the seasons go on and he spends more time out of the jail (or, in other, worse jails) the more of his worst traits and beliefs he kinda let's go. Which is what makes me passionate about him he really has it in him to improve, to change. By the intro of season 5 he was literally just living alone in a swamp or something and didn't even want anything to do with Michael.
Like it's not that it happens from morning to noon it's just that there's less and less opportunities for him to repeat his problems to the point he just stops doing it altogether willingly it's just really neat. I just enjoy it.
#luly talks#and we're in the tags let's speak straight here im talking about him giving up on being racist MEHCGDGYHD 😭😭#like i mentioned the cannibalism part. in season 1 he was just The White Supremacist™ of the prison#that every prison setting needs of course. wouldn't be a prison setting otherwise. he was also filling other roles but you fill up the rest#and while honestly i dont remember that being that big of a topic compared to how bad he wanted michael carnally#he still annoyed people i just laughed bc i remembered Abruzzi insulting him for it twice. he was so sillh#i dont remember what he said but it did annoy teddy they had something so beautiful#anyway uh. yeah no like relationships w c-note and Sucre weren't perfect. season 2 they even told one of my fave jokes#about him having a ''yellow hand'' that made him have such a look of genuine despair that was SO fucking funny.#it's also a great scene bc c-note and sucre never really got along but for this one time they perfectly teamed up to make this guy feel Bad#true solidarity tbh anyway#this is all to say that by season 4 he really wasn't that racist if at all anymore. like i mentioned he was w sancho and like...#he was just vibing. when sancho fell he actually tried to get him to keep going. he didnt HAVE to#earlier seasons teddy wouldn't have even TRIED he'd have just kicked his body and kept going#but before he decided to cannibalize the man he had that moment of genuine compassion that is just so good#SO normal about Theodore Bagwell and this shit goofy show..........

i'm having Many Thoughts this rewatch about the... words. narrative devices and framing and tone of sdmi, and how they bring out a lot of food for thought re: aspects of media analysis which are easy to lose track of in media that takes itself more or less seriously than sdmi does.
unfortunately my brain is kind of soup lately, and when i try to put this bit into words it becomes Massive Overwhelming Infodump before it's halfway to my stylus. i have few brain cells available at the moment and it burns through them fast. 😔 ah well, hopefully i'll get around to making an actual coherent post about it sooner or later
#whosebaby talks#SDMItag#something about abstraction vs literalism; shorthand you're supposed to fill in the gaps for vs Things You are Meant to Take at Face Value#and about what's meant to be a Thing specific to a particular character/place/social environment/dynamic/etc#compared to a show's stylistic weirdness filter you're having to compensate for to tell if this character is an Abstraction#in the same way squiggles on a book to indicate writing are an abstraction of actual writing; or if they Are Actually Like That#vs when they *aren't* meant to embody that any more than the other people present; but *the other people present are also Like That*#compared to baseline for that world; because there's a specific reason in-universe that people like them end up concentrated here#vs a world where the baseline *is* for everything to be Like That; not as an abstraction or weirdness filter#but because the squiggly lines on the book are just Actually Squiggly Lines in-universe#often intended for comedy but not always! or entirely!#and sdmi's tone--comedic and otherwise--means it bounces around a lot of these in some really interesting ways#which is uh further complicated by the fact that despite how much of the comedy is obviously meant to lampshade how fucked up their world i#a fuckton of it is just straightforwardly horribly misogynistic and racist and abuse apologist and what have you#and not only makes light of this stuff in some really fucking awful ways under the guise of always-sunny-style ~tee hee lampshading~#but pulls some real toothpaste-and-orange-juice shit when it combines that with the more serious/earnest elements#and then you add in things like examining the generally exaggeratedly corrupt justice system#partly for laughs/drama and partly because a realistic judiciary process wouldn't work with the format tone and narrative they're working i#it's a fairytale; monarchies don't choose a ruler by sending out three princes to find a magical chalice in the forest or whatever#.....but also there are some reeeaaal interesting; uncomfortable things to examine here when comparing the corrupt *human* justice system#to the corrupt one the horrifically oppressed talking animals in this universe are subjected to#especially when it's often not even clear *which animals are supposed to be sapient*#and some shit you cannot 'it's a fairytale' your way out of; like racism and ableism and misogyny and queerphobia and abuse#say what you want about whether it *should* be there; but if it is; it is#and if nothing else it is sure fucking worth discussing if a piece of media tries to claim a textual depiction of SA for example#is a squiggly line abstraction for consensual romance#anyway there's a lot to unpack here squirtle it's fascinating and i have Opinions about it
