HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH + BAND OF BROTHERS:
JOSEPH "JOE" RAMIREZ
Born October 5th, 1921, in Nebraska
Died April 8th, 1988 (age 66), in Martinez, California
Joe Ramirez enlisted in September 1942 (age 20) in San Francisco, CA, and he trained with Easy Company at Toccoa. Holding the rank of Private, he served in Normandy, Holland, and Bastogne. He was hospitalized in January 1945, and discharged in July 1945. After the war, he was married for many years, and had children and grandchildren. When he passed away he was buried with his wife, who had passed away 11 years earlier. Further information about him is scarce, but the brief character profile in the Band of Brothers series bible describes him as Mexican-American, and his personality as "sensitive and nervous."
Appears in Episodes 1, 3-8, and 10; portrayed by actor Rene L. Moreno
Sources below
A million thanks to @bleedingcoffee42 for tracking down this info for me!
#joe ramirez#joseph ramirez#band of brothers#rene l. moreno#mine: gifs#hispanic heritage month#latino heritage month#sources vary on whether he was a Private or PFC#they seem to have taken A LOT of creative liberties on the show bc#the only 2 anecdotes about him in BoB seem pretty diff from his character on-screen#not to mention that he would've been in the hospital during events of episodes 8 and 10 (each of which he's in several scenes)#on the other hand i do really like his character in the show and think he's one of the best and most underrated background characters#and why yes i am completely normal about him 😅#but also i'm sure he would've been great too if they'd made him more accurate to what limited info exists about the IRL guy#I forgot to save a few of the documents that bleedingcoffee42 sent me unfortunately but these are most of them!#but from one of them (his draft card?) i discovered he lived like 1.5 miles from my grandparents!!#(tho of course they moved there in the 50s so who knows if he was still living at same address by then... but still!)#oops i originally had the episodes he's in listed wrong on this#so AFAIK he's only NOT in eps 2 and 9#in ep 1 he's twirling a knife at the beginning and eating spaghetti next to Guarnere and Malarkey and playing basketball in England#in ep 6 he's eating the bean soup near the line when Sink arrives#in 7 he's sitting next to popeye and then in the church at the end (maybe in Foy but i'm not positive)#in ep 3 i thiiiink he's in Carentan next to Buck? and he's at the party in England sitting next to Lipton and listening to Gordon#in 4 he's in too many scenes to list here#in 8 he's in too many to list#in 10 he's hunting for food with the group and standing next to Grant's shooter when Speirs comes in the room

Tazercraft and Richarlyson: [ Talking about the butterfly effect that led to Cellbit and Roier getting married ]
Richarlyson: The real cupid is pa Mike.
Pac: If Mike was unintentionally the reason why Richas died*, and that caused Roier and Cellbit to— Wait, you're saying I'm single because you died?! Oh what the hell. No, it's fine, that's fine, that's fine, it's fine, I stayed on the ground so that others could fly, it's fine.
Richarlyson: KKKKKKK Pa, you misunderstood me 0_0
#Pactw#Richarlyson#Mikethelink#Tazercraft#QSMP#Pac#Mike#To anyone who's going ''what the hell does that mean''#I've been doing some VOD watching and I finally understand.#Pac unfortunately had / has a little crush on Cellbit#which is perhaps one of the worst realizations I've ever made#They smooched each other on the first (or second?) day the Brazilians arrived#(Cellbit called it a ''Friendship kiss'' and Pac said ''ah we haven't had one of those in a few years'')#and then later on Cellbit turned him down when he started getting interested in Roier#there was also a moment in Festa Junina where it seemed like Pac thought Cellbit was taking him to the church to propose???#Idk man. I want to study q!Pac under a microscope#THE DUDE MAULED YOU IN PRISON. WHY DO YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON HIM#good god nobody on this server is mentally well#I remember when I first saw that I was like ''? Control over time
#ramble in tags! this is my current idea for what Mao is doing in the current arc#because unlike Fumiko Mao actually cares about Denji and Nayuta outside of just being people she should be around because of her job/#agreement with Public safety. so she wouldn't abandon Nayuta in the middle of that mob like Fumiko did#anyways backtracking a bit. So when Fumiko arrived at Denji's apartment as it's being burnt down by Barem and the weapon hybrids#she brings Mao (devil form) along with her instead of the random PS backup dudes#(she went after her in the time she split from Denji and Nayuta. as before that Mao was dealing with the followers at the csm church#alongside Katana and Nail. she tried to see if she could revert the transformed humans back to normal but it's sorta like fiend logic#so she couldn't do much other than cure their injuries since they're pretty much just devils by that point)#back to present time. Fumiko sends Mako to attack Barem#she injuries and throws him to the ground but then Whip appears and makes a huge dent in a side of her head before cutting Mao in half#hence why the blood and ripped clothes she has in this drawing#so Mao is down. temporary as she isn't fully dead but can't to much other than keep moving the clock pointers around and regenerating#Barem tries to choke Nayura and Fumiko shoots him in the head. then the fight between Denji and the weapons + the subsequent mess#with the random citizens attacks him happens pretty much the same#Fumiko leaves Nayura on her own and when she looks to the side she sees Nao crawling in her direction#she asks her to give her some time and she'll be able to fight again. so Nayuta starts killing people and by the time Barem gets the mob#to go kill her Mao is back at full strength and fights back to defend her. subsequently the two of them escape#so Mao is helping Nayuta on whatever she's currently doing. if she's alive that is#if it does turn out that Nayura is dead dead then i may leave Mao with the devil hybrids for the time being. they have a weird relationship#csm#csm oc#chainsaw man#csm part 2#hyena scribbles#Mao Masashige#Nayuta csm

Belos: I’m going to raise Luz as my daughter and ensure that she remains pure and loyal to me.
Also Belos: I’m going to let the 7-years-old clone of my brother take care of her I’m sure he’ll be able to do that.
you joke but thats LITERALLY his entire thought process at first. he's so isolated and arrogant that he couldnt possibly comprehend the idea that luz wouldnt see him as her father despite the fact he literally told hunter he was going to be her older brother and never once encouraged hunter to see him as anything but an uncle.
i attribute this to the fact that philip is an orphan who only ever knew his blood brother as his only caretaker, so he sorta took having a brother for granted and didn't realize that was something you could want rather than something that just Is.
(also caleb was the only person philip ever truly knew + loved and even well into his 300s he never once picked up a child psychology book and realized that Perhaps His Worldview Was Skewed Because Of That.)
he literally like. could not comprehend the idea that you could even choose your own family outside of like. being adopted by someone. thats the other thing with him being so annoyingly christian in this AU, he was taught that your blood family (esp yr parents) is always the most important thing in your life & you should always be grateful to them no matter what.
(this is another factor into why he keeps making grimwalkers. in his own twisted viewpoint, it's him giving caleb another chance. and another. and another-- at least in this specific characterization of him.)
philip thought that him adopting luz would mean she would immediately be eternally grateful to him and call him father and the whole nine yards. but he forget to actually express that expectation until it was too late (aka until he heard her call him uncle for the first time)
honestly, hes not MAD about it. he's just sorta :( about it bcus hes not actually insane and can still logically think like "she did say she had just lost her real father to an illness its perfectly reasonable for her to not want to replace him" (he doesnt think it outloud but he also enjoys living thru her vicariously
but also later on as she gets older it gets to a point where he's like "ok its been years now why isnt she trying to replace him yet" bcus he thinks its a normal + healthy part of the grieving process to replace the person you lost (figuratively or, in his case, Literally)
#qna#anonymous#little lamb au#toh#also luz is sort of catholic in this AU bcus she was raised like that#as in camila + manny would take her to church on sundays and she did sunday school sometimes and they'd encourage her to pray#but they never like. enforced it on her. it was more of a cultural thing for all three of them than a spiritual thing.#but belos is DELIGHTED when he hears baby luz praying out loud before bed on her first night in the castle#he tries to casually ask her about it like 'what is this God can you explain it to him'#but then as he listens to her little five year old explanation of God and Jesus she drops enough hints to make him realize#'Oh Good Lord She's Fucking CATHOLIC?'#'god truly is testing me by guiding this lamb into my care but no matter. no child is beyond redemption'#cue belos trying to push her more towards protestantism by attempting to have religious debates with a fucking. five year old#who has no concept of religion beyond 'jesus died for my sins which means i shouldnt lie to my abuela about taking an extra empanada'#sorry i love belos forgetting that religion exists up until luz arrives in the demon realm#and then he realizes Oh Fuck Thats Right. Im Doing This For God & Jesus Not Just For Fun#and then suddenly remembers everything his pastor from 400 years ago ever said to him

#you ever just *puts feet on the wall*#or sit upside down off the side of your bed#i saw a post earlier this week I've been trying to find about fearing god#i read it but didn't have time to share my thoughts and i forgot to save it to my drafts so i lost it#anyway they talked about fearing god in service today#the overlap of related events like this scares me all the time#like... i know this stuff just happens and they had this sermon planned for months and it's coincidental#''but what if god is actually real and this is him trying to talk to me? what if he's trying to move me back on track?''#that's something i can't help but think#i'm starting to think I'll never know what is real and whether there's a god and if i really am setting myself up to burn in hell#i have to make a choice whether to leave my friends and hide who I am and go back to the church#or be myself and enjoy my time alive knowing what could be waiting for me when I go#I know that sounds extremely dramatic but it's something I think about a lot#it's one thing for someone to have never gotten to known God#but some say that the one unforgivable sin - the only thing that can keep you out of heaven forever...#...is knowing god and accepting him in your heart but then turning your back on him#I've done those rituals; been baptized and taken communion and said the famous prayer#if that unforgivable sin is true then I guess i've already made my choice; there really is no going back for me haha#damn right that god is scary lol#not tagging the game because I monolouged too much lmao#doodles#sunday doodles#depressing sunday doodle posts have arrived once again#dw im chilling today just lost in thought#was able to put in pto so i get the day to reflect on the very important things 21 year olds think about#things like ''what could've been'' and ''how do i want to draw my next fluffy boy''

A frustrating bit about the idea that Yurie is called the last scholar because of her having been one of the OG Byrgenwerth squad is her visible age.. Willem was already a sluggish ancient self even in Laurence's flashback and is still alive, for all we know the time in Byrgenwerth really has stopped as 95% of it is drifting between reality and Nightmare, but.. why at the expense of some wrinkles :pensive:
Would just be pretty great if she looked like a 50+ years old! (around 20 as Byrgenwerth scholar and at least 30 years since then because if Hunter's Dream has about 360 gravestones, it means 360 full moons ie at least 30 years of it existing) But, I guess it IS just a version?
#bloodborne#yurie the last scholar#every day. I am thinking about the implication of her title as the last scholar.#she is one of my crucial points in saying that byrgenwerth was not instantly isolated from healing church#and in fact it was only declared 'forbidden' by the church so people like simon don't snoop around for their origins and secrets#but healing church members legit know password of the Gatekeeper + there is a secret cave through which fauxsefka snooped#so would be fair if Choir that does honor descent from Willem would still communicate and Yurie just... stayed#I mean not like only arrived back there with Fauxsefka but I mean like STAYED stayed#presumably when Rom was retracted from the Choir back to Byrgenwerth#(mfw the girls realized Willem was sexier than Laurence but you didn't hear that from me lol)#for all we know she either never met Fauxsefka before or haven't seen her in years#Cainhurst Fauxsefka implication too and of course vampires don't age like normal people... BB where are the OLD women#as usual Eileen and Witches of Hemwick got me lol

Also I think workplaces should either have parking or compensate you for the time you spend driving around looking for parking + the money you spend on parking for work
#drove around the city for half an hour looking for parking and you bet your ass I’m putting that on my time sheet#bc I arrived to work early. not my fault you’re making me work in an active church#also I think every city should have at least one garage. or more than one street that has more than 2 hour parking#like man im used to parking a 15 min walk from things im not upset abt that#but i am upset abt having to drive around scared not knowing of anywhere im allowed to park#update: walked the 15 mins to work and now there’s parking. I’m so upset actually#wouldn’t make sense to move my car now bc it’s either walk back now or after work. plus I’ve paid for that spot already#and like another thing that grinds my gears about it is#I work at a separate location an hour away one day a week. that gets 0 clients#I’m here just in case someone shows up. which is great in that I get a calm space to do my homework n get paid#it’s like. my job here isn’t clients my job is Drive. my job is Stress About Parking. that’s the trade off#worth it ig as long as I stay safe but on principle it’s frustrating#it’s hard to fully enjoy the secluded space when I have such a hard time getting here. it’s a bad start to my day#idk. it’s my favorite workday of the week bc it isn’t work. I get paid to travel essentially#and to do work that’s unrelated to my job lmao#I just think people should be allowed to park at or near their jobs is all#the emotional labor of like risking my life and car to get to work is almost on par w the emotional labor of when I actually have to work#mine#txt

#another weird dream. woke up shaking#dreamt i was getting ready for some church stuff like a baptism or smth#and i was going with my grandparents and id have to wait my parents there#but when i stepped outside the sky was just. fire and snakes#literal apocalypse#and i started freaking out but no one else around me could see it#and driving slowly towards us in the distance was this gigantic hellish train#for some reason we simply kept walking to church. but when we arrived it wasnt a church but a beach#and it was packed full of people#and for some fucking reason only children could see what was actually happening#i was like 15 in this dream#i was freaking out so hard bc no one else seemed to care but other kids around#everyone was just standing at this beach doing nothing while literal hell was happening around us#i walked off in search of my parents and found my friends who were also freaking out#we walked around for a bit and then the train reached the beach and more train came after it#and the adults simply got in the trains and left without a word#so i ran back looking for my family but i could only find my dad and i was crying and sobbing#at this point the people who didnt manage to get on the trains would either run after them or lay down and wait for the next train to run#them over#so i grabbed my dad sobbing and told him you CANNOT get on the train do you understand. mom is already gone you're the only one left#and he looked like he was drugged and loopy not fully understanding but just nodding and looking back at the train#and i just kept trying to keep him siting there while i shouted for my mom and my grandparents#and then i woke up

After the hospital bombing, I finally heard back from my grandmother and confirmed that several of my relatives were murdered by Israeli bombing. Seven of them, to be precise. Three are still going, including her. We've been talking constantly ever since.
Asked if it was possible to head south, and was told they did but were also bombed there. So they decided to go back home, in Zeitoun. Their home was bombed and they were pulled out of the rumble, then driven by ambulances to the al-Ahli Arab Hospital. There were people in every corner. Gazans sheltering, sleeping on the floor. Gazans dying on the floor, waiting for beds.
Four were declared dead on arrival, three were in need of surgery and other three were just bandaged. Then, a bomb was dropped in the parking lot that made parts of the ceiling collapse, like Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah reported in that horrific conference/interview. Those in need of surgery died.
By the way, just in case you didn't know: the Church of Saint Porphyrius, the third oldest in history, bombed by Israel a few days back, was located near the hospital.
When looking for new shelter, they saw schools with signs hanging outside, "We can't take any more families." They met families, sympathetic but already sheltering too many people. They're now staying in an apartment building they found empty. Sleeping in the corner of the living room. If the family comes back, they'll apologize and leave.
Told me she was saving her phone battery for when the bombing stopped, and she had to ask for help to rebuilt the neighborhood. But she doesn't think it's gonna stop anymore. The ones still with her are mute most of the time, like they're saving energy, but she feels lonely and wanted to talk. There's no internet and to connect to WhatsApp, people are buying "a card from the supermarket, there's a password and username." Not sure what she meant. Still, the internet is inconsistent and won't load neither videos or images nor pages, so she doesn't know what's happening on the outside world.
Told her there were a lot of people protesting to stop the genocide, she replied, "The bombings are getting worse by the day." The bombing yesterday was the worst she ever witnessed. The entire neighborhood is infested with the smell of death, of decomposing bodies. Bodies are piling up in the streets and she's not sure if it's because they ran out of places to store them, but most of them are in bags. The smoke of the bombings hide the blue sky—she hasn't seen the clouds for a while.
Asked if I could share their pictures, names and dreams with people and was told, of which I partly agree, "they're not entertainment." If anyone genuinely cared, they would be alive—I'd argue there are people who do care, but I'm not gonna lecture her pain. And they don't deserve to be used to fulfill someone's sick fantasy. Told me to remember what some Israelis do with pictures of dead Palestinians. And I do.
For those of you who are not familiar, many times before settlers got together to celebrate the murder of Palestinians. For one, in 2015, Israeli settlers set a house in Duma, West Bank on fire. An 18-month old baby, Ali Dawbsheh, was burnt alive. Both parents later died of wounds and only a 5-year-old, Ahmad, survived, although severely injured.
Two celebrations of their murder are widely known, one at a wedding and others outside the court in which two were indicted for the terrorist attack. In the wedding, guests stabbed a photo of the toddler, Ali, while others waved guns, knives and Molotov cocktails. Israel's Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, was present.
That's what happens in an apartheid. Palestinians are so abused by authorities that their "innocent civilians" come to accept the brutality as necessary or are desensitized by our suffering. After all, it's been 75 years—get used to it!
So I won't risk the image of my loved ones, in fear they are used in these kinds of depravity. I will say, though, the world lost a young footballer. Lost a female writer and an aspiring ballerina. Lost a kind father, who was also a great cook, and a loving mother that enjoyed sewing and other types of handicraft art. Lost a math teacher and a child that wanted to become one.
People think Israel is testing new weapons on them. There's civilians arriving at the hospital with severe burns, which they thought was from white phosphorus, but apparently the pattern is different from the one caused by white phosphorus. It's widely believed Israel tests weapons in Palestinians.
Jeff Halper, author of War Against the People, a book on Israel's arms and surveillance technology industries, said: "Israel has kept the occupation because it's a laboratory for weapons."
They've ran out of drinkable water and the "aid" Biden sent was only for the South of Gaza and no fuel, for hospitals, was allowed in. Many shelves in the supermarket are empty. She said many are convinced that if they don't die from the bombing, they'll die from starvation or dehydration, or whatever disease will develop from the dirty water they're drinking.
Told me all people do now is pray, cry and die. Told me she hopes West Bank is spared. Told her Israel bombed a mosque in West Bank and dozens of Palestinians in West Bank are being murdered by settlers, so she bided me goodbye.
#palestine#free palestine#gaza#free gaza#may allah protect them#may almighty allah see our pain#hopefully she'll message me tomorrow
